Mr. Wagner had been in poor health for some time and his advanced age made it impossible for him to combat disease. Mr. Wagner was born in Germany and came to America in his youth, locating here soon after his arrival in this country. He was one of the employees of the old Two Rivers Manufacturing Co., and when war was declared in 1861, he enlisted in the Union Army, serving in the 48th Wisconsin under Capt. He later removed to Oconto where he resided until the death of his wife when he returned here and made his home with his daughter, Mrs. C.S. Coffin, So. Sixteenth Street. Though he had been a sufferer for two years, it was only within the last two weeks that his condition became serious and he was removed to the hospital. He was a native of Saxon, Germany, born April 5, 1832. Mr.Weidner is survived by three sons, Edward and George of Chicago and Charles O., the later serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Bliss and four daughters, Mrs. Louis Keune, Fond du Lac, Mrs. C. Coffin, this city Miss Lillian of Abrams and Ella of Oconto. Two step daughters also survive. Funeral services will be held at the home of C.S. Coffin Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Grether officiating and the body will be taken to Green Bay Thursday for burial. Judge J.S. Anderson, who served with Mr. Weidner in Co. A will accompany the funeral party and will deliver an address at the grave. Mr. Weidner's death leaves but twelve members of Co.A surviving. Manitowoc Daily Herald - Tues., Feb. 3, 1914

Buried in Brillion Village Cemetery, Brillion, Calumet County, Wisconsin ***** Herman Weiner(sic), whose funeral took place in this city Tuesday, was one of the pioneer settlers of this section, coming as a young man from Germany in the 50's and settling in the Town of Maple Grove. About 8 years ago, the pressure of adverse circumstances compelled him to make a change and he removed to Galesburg where he has resided on a farm since. He is survived by a wife and eight sons, all fine and industrious young men, whom in spite of his misfortune, he succeeded in providing a good education and whose habits of thrift and industry have enabled him to get the fullest benefits of the opportunities education always affords. Decedent had attained the age of 64 years and his life is a record of industry and obligations manfully met. He served three years in the Union armies during the Civil War. The body was sent to this city from Galesburg for burial and was taken in charge by the Sons of Herman, of which lodge he had been a member for over twenty years. An address was delivered over the body at the house of Wm. V. McMullen and at the cemetery the funeral rites of the Sons of Herman were observed. Brillion News, Fri., Dec. 4, 1903
