OAKLEY: Byron Leslie m: 3 Feb. 1883 (co. mar. index. v.5 p.107) to: Veroqua B. Sheldon ******** OAKLEY—SHELDON – On Saturday, February 5th, at the residence of the bride in Branch village, by Rev. J. M. Craig, Mr. Byron Oakley of Antigo and Miss Veroque B. Sheldon of Branch. The young couple whose union is announced above, are quite well known throughout this county, having for some time been engaged in teaching and attained a degree of prominence in their profession which has given them an extended reputation. They are both people of superior mental endowments and of far more than average intellectual requirements. Mr. Oakley has been admitted to the bar but has not yet begun the practice of law, being at present principal of the Antigo schools, and is also engaged in other business of a more remunerative character. He is a young man of considerable force of character and has received a training in the school of life which is a good bands for future success. His bride, at the time of her marriage, was engaged in teaching a school of such a character as to attest her ability. Together with talent, she begins married life with a large capital of good sense. Once feels safe in predicting happiness and success for such people. Manitowoc Pilot Thursday, February 8, 1883

Friends of Abraham Olson and Wife Assist in Celebrating. There was a large and happy gathering at the home of Mr. And Mrs. Abraham Olson on North Eighth street Monday evening, when the worthy couple were made the recipients of a surprise by their friends, the occasion being the twenty-fifth anniversary of their marriage day. The ladies of the party came prepared to serve luncheon and after several hours were passed in social enjoyment the feast was spread and partaken of. As a testimonial of the pleasant relations existing with friends, Mr. and Mrs. Olson were presented with an elegant tea set, bearing the inscription date of the wedding. E.J. Onstad addressed remarks to the guests and after the several hours of pleasure, the guests departed, expressing the hope that the quarter century bride and groom celebrate many more anniversaries. OLSON: John From Der Nord Westen, 02 Feb. 1899: Mr. and Mrs. John Olson from Manitowoc celebrated their Silver Wedding Anniversary last Wed. ******* IN FITTING MANNER. The 25th Anniversary of Marriage of Mr. and Mrs. J. Olson Celebrated. Twenty-five years ago yesterday Mr. and Mrs. John Olson exchanged the vows which united their destinies for better or for worse, and during all this time they have plodded along through life, pursuing the even tenor of their way quietly and peacefully, and when their silver anniversary arrived they had decided to let the event pass without any ostentatious display. Their friends, however, were not willing that the event should be so lightly passed and last evening about fifty couples gathered at their home on St. Claire street and made the hearts of the worthy couple joyous with their well wishes and merry making. The Norden society was in attendance and rendered several selections and the evening was pleasantly passed. The visitors took their departure at a late hour wishing Mr. and Mrs. Olson many more happy years. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Manitowoc, Wis. Thursday, January 26, 1899 P.4
