ATHERTON, INSPECTOR OF THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF ANIMAL INDUSTRY IN THAT CITY- TO LIVE AT CHICAGO Niles, Mich., papers which have been received in the city tell of the marriage there of Miss Edna Burt, a former Manitowoc girl, and Dr. I.K. Atherton, of Chicago, attached to the government bureau of animal industry as an inspector. The bride is a daughter of Pierre Burt, former sheriff of Manitowoc county, and for years a merchant in this city and is a sister of Mrs. Jay Hall. The wedding is the outgrowth of an acquaintance formed a year ago when Dr. Atherton, in his capacity as government inspector, spent several months at Niles investigating the foot and mouth disease. Later he was transfered to Illinois and returned to Niles two weeks ago to claim his bride. Dr. Atherton has been attached to the government service for 21 years. Dr. and Mrs. Atherton will take up their home at 4205 Berkely Ave., Chicago, and will be at home to friends after January 15. The Burt family resided here up to ten years ago and removed to North Fond du Lac and later to Niles. Miss Martha Burt, who is a teacher in the schools at Fond du Lac, attended the wedding at Niles. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Wednesday, January 12, 1916 P.8 (NOTE: The Burtt family is on the 1880 census and Edna is 1 yr. old)
