BOLDT: John (John Bald on the mar. index) m: 3 Feb. 1871 (co. mar. index v.4 p.44) to: Louise Mohle My great-great-grandparents Wilhelm and (Caroline) Wilhelmina Mohle (umlaut on the "o") arrived in Wisconsin in January 1850. They came from "Ostpreussen", East Prussia, on the ship "Meta" (port of embarcation: Bremen), arriving in New York on January 18, 1850 with a final destination of Wisconsin. She was 23 (born in August 1826) and although the ship records say he was 27, he actually turned 28 on the voyage (born December 29, 1841). Their destination was "Wisconsin". The surname is listed as "Mohll" on the 1850 census. Wilhelmina was incorrectly written "Wilimena". In addition her age was 23 (or 24 if the census was taken after her August birthday) not "27". In the 1860 Federal Census for Newton Township, Manitowoc Co., Wisconsin, page 24, lines 22 - 28, dwelling #180, family #174, Here the family surname is given as "Mehl". In addition Louisa, on line 25, was NOT 9, she was 7 (two years younger than my great-grandmother Sophia). On line 28 I have no idea where the name "Camella" came from. Aunt Carrie's given name has ALWAYS been "CAROLINE" from the time of her christening. In the 1870 Federal Census for Centerville, Centreville Township, Manitowoc Co. Wisconsin, page 4, lines 11 - 17, dewlling #276, family #282, the family surname is finally spelled correctly. The only error I see is that on line 12 Wilhelmina's name is incorrectly spelled with an "e" at the end rather than an "a". Two of the Mohle daughters are missing from the family list: my great-grandmother Sophia Mohle, age 19 in 1870, and her sister Mary Mohle, 15 in 1870. I have been unable to locate them on any 1870 in census of Manitowoc Co. Only daughter Louisa Mohle who married John Boldt on Feb 3, 1871 remained in Manitowoc County. All others in the family moved to Portland, Oregon within a year. As of 2009, there are over 200 descendants of Wilhelm and Wilhelmina Mohle. (from researcher/see contributors page) (Note: A Mary Mohle is listed in marriages on this site as married to Friedrich Wilhelm Gerling)

Photo compliments of the Manitowoc Library WILL LEAVE US. Miss Boyd Has Resigned Position in N.S. High School And Quits School Work. The graduating class of the north side high gave a farewell party to Miss Florence Boyd at the home of Albert Heyroth on Michigan Ave. last evening. Miss Boyd has held the position of grammar teacher at the high school during the past year, coming here from Appleton to take the position. She has resigned and will not be one of the faculty next year having decided to spend several months in a visit to relatives in California and will make an extended tour of the south western states before returning to her home at Appleton. During Miss Boyd's stay in the city she has made a host of friends who will very much regret her decision to dicontinue school work and leave the city. Among the high school scholars she is one of the most popular teachers the school has ever had and her loss to the school will be greatly felt. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Saturday, June 13, 1903 P.1
