The parties are Mr. Peter Ruby of Chicago and Miss Kate Powell of Franklin. After the marriage ceremony was performed the happy couple and a large circle of friends assembled at the residence of the bride's parents where a splendid wedding was given. Immediately after supper a "hurrah" was heard in all directions and in less than an hour a mighty army stood in battle array in front of the house and demanded that something should be given in order to satisfy their desires. Mr. Powell immediately stepped out and their demands were at once complied with so the army dispersed taking with them the prize which they had won. Mr. Ruby is a celebrated cigar manufacturer from the city of Chicago. The bride is one of Franklin's fairest daughters and bears the reputation of being both beautiful and refined. The young couple departed on Tuesday for Chicago, taking with them the best wishes of a large circle of friends. May their path through life be strewn with roses. Pretty Church Wedding for Union of Miss Mayme Kelley and M.J. Ryan. MANY FRIENDS ATTENDED. An ideal summer day and a sun that shone gloriously was the auspiciously bright dawning that ushered in a new life for Miss Mayme Kelley, one of Manitowoc's popular society leaders, who today became the bride of Matthew J. Ryan, of Escanaba, Michigan. Happy was the event, and happier still the large gathering of friends who were present to witness the ceremony at St. Boniface Catholic church at 9 o'clock. It was a pretty funciton-this wedding-that had been anticipated by society circles with interest for weeks past. Rev. Father Peil was the attendant and officiated at beautiful and impressive service. Mondeissohn's wedding March was given as the bridal party entered the church and during the service Wegand's celebrated mass to St. Joseph was rendered by the full choir. The bride was handsomely gowned in white satin and was attended by Miss Jeanne Anderson as maid of honor and Miss Josephine Ryan, sister of the groom, as bridesmaid. John Ryan and John Roach, Escanaba, were groomsmen to the bridegroom. The ushers were T.J. Dunn, Escanaba and Charles E. Kelly. At the home of Capt. and Mrs. Timothy Kelley, parents of the bride, 717 N. Seventh street, a wedding breakfast was served at 11 o'clock and a reception to friends held. This afternoon Mr. Ryan and bride departed for an extended Eastern tour, after which they will take up their home at Escanaba, Mich. A general favorite with friends and enjoying a wide acquaintance, Miss Kelley will be greatly missed. She is a young lady of culture and refinement and has been popular in social circles. Of a retiring disposition, kind and considerate, she has gathered about her many admiring friends who are ever willing to testify to her many womanly virtues and nobility of character. She is endowed with all the qualities that lend to make her a queen of home and will be the true helpmeet of the man upon whom her choice has been fixed. Mr. Ryan is not a stranger in the city although his home is in Michigan, where he enjoys an enviable reputation as a progressive business man. He has recently been honored by the appointment of postmaster at Escanaba. Mr. Ryan is a veteran of the Spanish war, having served with President Roosevelt and enjoys a personal cquaintance with the nation's chief executive. Among the out of town guests in attendance at the wedding were John Ryan, Miss Josephine Ryan, T.J. Dunn, Dr. T. McGinnis, Rev. Cochrane, Escanaba; Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Meagher, Rev. J. O'Leary, Mrs. Philips and daughter, Miss Clarisa, Misses Curtis, Blanche Hussey, Alice Lantry, Milwaukee; Dr. and Mrs. Timothy Evan, Sturgeon Bay; Chauncy Yokey, Sheboygan; Chas.
