HINKENS: William Allen m: March 25, 1913 to: Laura Grosstueck CHICAGO MAN HERE TO CLAIM MISS LAURA GROSSTEUCK (sic) AS BRIDE WEDDING AT GROSSTEUCK (sic) HOME ON CLARK STREET IS PRETTY EVENT- TO MAKE HOME IN MICHIGAN The marriage of Miss Laura Grossteuck (sic), of this city, and William Allen Hinkens of Chicago, was soleminized at the Grossteuck home on Clark street at 11 o'clock this morning, Rev. Axtell of the First Presbyterian church reading the marriage service in the presence of a small party of relatives. The wedding was a quiet one, its simplicity being one of the charms of the ceremony. Immediately following a wedding dinner, Mr. and Mrs. Hinkens departed for Chicago, enroute on a trip south, which will include Virginia, Washington, D.C., and other points and later the couple will return via New York and Philadelphia. With the marriage today is culminated a pretty romance. Miss Grossteuck and Mr. Hinkens met at Chicago when the former as a trained nurse cared for a relative of Mr. Hinkens and the acquaintance at that time led to the union today. Mr. and Mrs. Hinkens will make their home at Chicago, but will have a summer home at Benton Harbor, Mich, a handsome home just having been erected on the estate at that place. Miss Grossteuch (sic) is a daughter of August Grossteuck and for some time was a teacher in the local schools. Later she entered the Presbyterian hospital at Chicago and completed her studies as a nurse and for two years was in charge of a large hospital in Oklahoma, resigning to return here for her wedding. A large circle of friends will extend congratulations. Mr. Hinkens is a real estate broker at Chicago and is one of the successful business men of that city. Mr. and Mrs. Hinkens departed at noon for Chicago and will be absent several weeks on their honeymoon. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Tuesday, March 25, 1913 P.4

HINZE: William Paul Aug. Fried. m: 07 Jan 1897 (co. mar. index v.6 p.388) to: Maria Sophia Marx William C. Hinze, who for the past five years has been conducting a saloon at 1801 North Tenth street, Sheboygan, was born in Germany, on the 16th of September, 1874. He is a son of Ferdinand and Wilhelmina (Blank) Hinze, also natives of Germany, whence they emigrated to the United States in 1883, locating at Altamont, Effingham county, Illinois. There the father, who was a laborer, worked on the railroad with a section crew for seven years. At the expiration of that time he came to Sheboygan and obtained employment in the Crocker Chair Factory, remaining in the service of this company until his death in 1909. The mother is still living. The maternal grandparents Christ and Dorathea Blank came to the United States in 1886 and located in Effingham county, where they resided for four years. In 1890 they came to Sheboygan, and here they both passed away in 1897, the death of the grandmother occurring first and that of Mr. Blank six weeks later. William C. Hinze, who was a lad of nine years when he accompanied his parents to America, began his education in his native land and completed it in the public schools of Altamont, Illinois. In 1889, he left home and came to Sheboygan and for sixteen years was employed in different furniture factories. At the end of that time he gave up this work and opened a saloon, which he is still conducting. Mr. Hinze was married in 1897, to Mary Marx of the town of Schleswig, Manitowoc county, and they have one daughter, Lydia. Fraternally Mr. Hinze is a member of the Eagles and the Mattoon Mutual Aid Society. In his political views he is a socialist and always gives his support to the men and measures of that party. A double wedding is not an ordinary event, and society has felt much interest in this one, both on account of its unusual feature and the popularity of the brides who have been favorites here. Hence few who received invitations failed to acknowledged the compliment by their presence, and a goodly company assembled at the wedding. Manitowoc Pilot Thursday, May 4, 1882 ******** Branch news: There have been three weddings at the Branch within as many weeks, Mr. Hermann and Mrs. Cing set the example, which was immediately followed by Caspar Brann and Mrs. Pitz, and lastly Anton Holsen and Miss Anna Helwig assumed the bonds of Heymem. Verily, there seems to be a great deal of wooing done in this locality, though the wild flowers don't woo the sun, as said sun's rays are anything but genial. Manitowoc Lake Shore Times, Tuesday, May 9, 1882 P. 4 ******** Golden Anniversary Couple MR. AND MRS. ANTON HOLSON (photo) Half a century today becomes the extent of the married life of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Holsen, Seventh and Columbus streets. In celebration of their golden wedding Mrs. Holsen is entertaining members of the Ladies' Aid society of the First Reformed church this afternoon and she and her husband are entertaining relatives at a family dinner this evening. For the last 32 years it has been Mr. Holsen who has supervised the generating of electricity for use in this city. He has proudly watched the development and growth of the electric light plant here, which, now requiring the services of 14 men, in three shifts, was run by two men only, day and night engineers, during his first years of service there. The plant, formerly owned by T.W. Gray, has been municipally owned and controlled since 1911. Both of the golden wedding pair have felt a personal interest in the improvements and expansion of the plant and recall the conquering of production difficulties, such as the baffling "whistle" that piqued Manitowoc's populace two summer ago. Mr. and Mrs. Holsen were married at the home of the latter's parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. William Helwig, at Branch May 2, 1882, resided here for two years, and then spent about 10 years at Alma Center before returning here to make their home. Their three living children are Herman Holsen and Mrs. Oscar Becker, Manitowoc, and Mrs. William C. Beduhn, Two Rivers. The family includes eight grandchildren.
