ROSALIA ZINDA cemetery #43a Mrs. Joseph Zinda, 81 (photo), died suddenly of a heart attack, Friday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Kostuhoski, of 1022 South 19th street, with whom she resided. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Pfeffer funeral home and at 9 o'clock at the St. Mary's Catholic church, the Rev. John Landowski officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Zinda, nee Rosella(sic) Jazdwski, was born in Poland in 1865 and when a child accompanied her parents to Milwaukee and later to Portage. In 1880 she was married to Mr. Zinda. They located on a farm in Portage county and after the death of her husband, she continued to reside on the farm, operated by her son, William. Twenty-eight years ago she came to Manitowoc to reside with her daughter. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Kostuhoski and Mrs. Myles Panosh of this city, Mrs. P.J. Bruske of Stevens Point; three sons, Frank and Felix of Stevens Point, William of Wisconsin Rapids; two brothers, Joseph of Scofield, Wis., Leo of Rosholt, Wis.; 39 grandchildren and 52 great- grandchildren. The body may be viewed at the funeral home after 7 o'clock tonight. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday night. John Hephner will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Zingsheim, nee Agnes Kaskavage, was born March 3, 1902, at Berlin, Wis., daughter of the late Anton and Anna Kaskavage. She was married to Leonard Birkholz. He preceded her in death in 1950. She then was married to Arthur Zingsheim Sr., Jan. 29, 1957, at Manitowoc. The couple resided in Manitowoc. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, a step-son and a step-daughter (Survivors omitted for privacy.); two brothers, three sisters, three grandsons, a granddaughter and eight step-grandchildren. A son, Leonard, and a sister preceded her in death. ARTHUR J. ZINGSHEIM SR. cemetery #43 Arthur J. Zingsheim Sr., 74, of 1214-A Washington St., Manitowoc, died Friday at Holy Family Hospital there. He was the father of Arthur J. Zingsheim Jr. of 3502 N. 6th. St., Sheboygan. He was born July 24, 1898, at Manitowoc, the son of the late Matt and Rose Pilger Zingsheim. He married Ellen May Rice on Nov. 23, 1920, at Manitowoc. She died June 25, 1955. He married Agnes Birkholz on Jan. 29, 1957, at Manitowoc, and she died Feb. 24, 1972. Surviving, besides his son, is a daughter, Mrs. Lee (Mary Ellen ) Gilligan of South Bend, IN; and 8 grandchildren. A brother, Walter, preceded him in death. Funeral Mass will be offered by the Rev. John Hepner, pastor, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Manitowoc, at 10 a.m. Monday, following family rites at the Pfeffer Funeral Home in Manitowoc. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery there. ELIZABETH ZINGSHEIM cemetery #43 DEATH CLAIMS PIONEER WOMAN ELIZABETH ZINGSHEIM Death claimed Mrs. Elizabeth Zingsheim an aged and well known resident of the city, at the home of her daughter Mrs. Herman Schwab, 1514 Washington street, this morning. Mrs. Zingsheim's death being due to a cold which she contracted three weeks ago and which she was unable to over come. Mrs. Zingsheim was 68 years of age and had resided here many years. She was the mother of eight children, John, Bernard, Godfrey, Matthew, Mrs. Mary Rockey, Albert, Mrs. Herman Schwab, Mrs. Neufeldt, all of this city. Besides her own family Mrs. Zingsheim reared three children of relatives and was a woman of unusual capabilities. The funeral will be held from St. Boniface church Wednesday morning at 9. JOHN ZINGSHEIM cemetery #43 Chas. Zingsheim, for many years a resident of the city, died Thursday at his home at the corner of Fourteenth and Franklin streets after an illness of some time. He was 81 years of age and was well known among a large circle of friends and acquaintances. Of late he had been in failing health and death came as a messenger of deliverance. An aged wife and nine children survive. The funeral will be held from St. Boniface church Saturday morning. A John Zingsheim lived on 14th st. on the 1900 Manitowoc twp. census Ward 3 p.6. and also in the City Directories for 1898 and the 1901-1902 one. I believe these should both be John Zingsheim and the Manitowoc Herald was in error about the first name and the Der Nord Westen was in error about the address and both should be John who lived on 14th street. ********* From Der Nord Westen, 16 Jan. 1902: John Zingsheim, a resident on the corner of 9th and Hamilton Streets, died Thurs. afternoon after a long illness with cancer. He was born in 1840 in the Mosel region of the Rhineland and came to America with his family in 1888, settling in the vicinity of Manitowoc where he has resided ever since. In addition to his widow he is survived by 9 children of whom the youngest is 15 yrs. old. 3 children had preceded him in death, 2 while the family was still in Germany, as well as a 17-yr. old son here in America 7 years ago. The deceased had worked 3 years in the school seating factory which burned down in 1892, since which time he was a trusted and energetic worker at the Manitowoc Seating Co. His funeral was held Sat. morning at the Catholic Cemetery.
MARILOUISE ZINGSHEIM cemetery #43 Marilouise Pauly Zingsheim, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, where she had been a resident for a short time. She was born on July 28, 1924, in Manitowoc. Marilouise was the daughter of the late Emil and Eulalia (Becker) Pauly. She was united in marriage to A.J. Zingsheim on Sept. 7, 1946, in Manitowoc. Marilouise graduated from St. Mary's High School in Menasha, and attended St. Mary's College of Notre Dame. During her active life, she served as president of the Garden Club of America and president of the Sheboygan Service Club. Marilouise was also a member of the board of the Manitou Girl Scout Council, St. Clement Altar Society, and volunteered at St Nicholas Hospital. She was always ready to help those in need. Marilouise and A.J. were members of St. Clement Church, Pine Hills Country Club, The Sheboygan Yacht Club, Desert Forest Golf Club, and Desert Mountain Country Club in Carefree, Ariz., where she and A.J. lived for 20 years during the winter months. Marilouise was continually smiling and always had a good time with her family and friends in Sheboygan and Arizona. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) She was preceded in death by her sisters: Miriam Pauly and Margaret Pauly Hettinger; and brother-in-laws: Leo Gilligan and Frank Reinhart. MARION ZINN cemetery #89A Funeral services for Mrs. Carl Zinn, 65, of 1200 Madison St., Two Rivers, who died at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital Saturday afternoon, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers, the Rev. William Scheer officiating. Burial will be in Pioneers' Cemetery. Mrs. Zinn, nee Marion Tomcheck, was born at Two Rivers March 1, 1906, a daughter of the late John and Mary Klugzeski Tomcheck. She was married Jan. 1, 1926 at Waukegan, Ill. to Carl Zinn. The couple operated the Mexico House tavern at Two Rivers since 1944. She was a member of the Auxiliary of the Two Rivers Aerie of Eagles. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, and three grandchildren. A number of sisters and brothers preceded her in death. There will be no visitaion at the funeral chapels. ALBERT ZIPPERER cemetery #47 Albert Zipperer, 70, of Rt. 1, Manitowoc, died Monday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where he had been a patient for a week. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Silver Lake. The Rev. Ronald Kirk will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Zipperer was born Aug. 5, 1897, in the Town of Cato, son of the late Frank and Julie Grall Zipperer. A world (sic) War I Army veteran, he married the former Elsie Hastreiter Oct. 14, 1919 at Whitelaw. The couple owned and operated a farm in the rural Kewaunee area for 25 years. He also trucked milk from the Kewaunee area to Whitehouse Milk Co., Manitowoc, for 20 years. The couple moved to Rt. 1, Manitowoc, in 1945, when he became employed as a carpenter for Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., retiring in 1960. Mr. Zipperer was a member of the Holy Name Society and Carpenters Local 849. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Orville (Margaret) Keup, of Green Bay, Mrs. Dale (Eleanor) Schmoock, of Two Rivers, Mrs. Elmer (Lorraine) Kinstetter, of Kewaunee, and Mrs. Melvin (Delores) Shimon, of Cato; seven brothers, Frank and Louis, of Whitelaw, Joseph, of Plymouth, Richard, of Branch, Clemens of Sheboygan and George and Wilbert, of Manitowoc; a sister, Mrs. Ed Burish, of Reedsville; 33 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Two sisters preceded him in death. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. by members of the Holy Name Society and the parish. ANNA ZIPPERER cemetery #7 Mrs. Anna Zipperer Death came as a release from suffering to Mrs. Anna Zipperer, widow of Thomas Zipperer at the home of her son, George, at Whitelaw sometime during Saturday night. The end was due to a cerebral hemorrhage and her body was found by members of the family when they went to the room to call her. She had been ill for more than six months. The funeral will be held from the home tomorrow, Tuesday morning, with services at 10 o'clock at St. Michael's Catholic church at Whitelaw, the Rev. Theodore Fufahl officiating. Burial will be at the Whitelaw cemetery. Born in Germany seventy-five years ago Mrs. Zipperer came to this country with her parents as a girl. She was married to Thomas Zipperer who preceded her in death two years ago since which time she has made her home with her son, George. She is survived by eight children, Mrs. Anna Siegel of Sheboygan, Mrs. Joseph Vo??? of Sturgeon Bay, Mrs. Joseph Traurig of this city, Mrs. Frank Klingeisen and Mrs. Charles Reindl of Whitelaw, Mrs. Arthur Holtz of Sawyer and George and Louis Zipperer, both of Whitelaw. BARBARA ZIPPERER cemetery #7 (the following from a researcher) She was born July 20, 1820 in Hershaw, Bohemia. Her parents were Mathias Baumann and Barbara Baumann. She died in September 6, 1899 and is buried in Cato, WI. She came over to the U.S. with her husband Martin Zipperer. They arrived in New York on October 16, 1862. They came over on the Elise & Mathilde out of the port of Bremen. With them 8 children: Johan, Margaret, Therese, Anna, Barbara, George, Franceska, and Maria. Martin was born March 19, 1821 and died March 14, 1904. Martin and Barbara's child Barbara is my Great-Great Grandma. She was Born in April 14, 1855 in Austria. Barbara married Simon P Geiger (1847-1921) on June 30, 1873 in Clarksmills. They then moved to Brillion, WI-which would be Winnebago Co. Barbara (Geiger died October 16, 1930 and is buried in Maple Grove with the Geigers. The deceased, whose husband predeceased her, belonged among the oldest settlers of that town. The funeral took place Fri. from the Catholic Church in Whitelaw. (Note: Her husband died in 1904, apparently the newspaper made an error)
CHARLES ZIPPERER cemetery #7 October 31, 1955 Manitowoc Times Charles Zipperer, 80, of Rt. 1, Whitelaw, died Saturday at the Holy Family Hospital after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Reedsville Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church in Whitelaw with the Rev. John Husslein officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Zipperer was born Nov. 28, 1875 in Whitelaw, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Zipperer. He farmed in the Town of Cato all of his life. He was never married. Survivors include about 40 nieces and nephews. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
CLARA ZIPPERER cemetery #44 Clara E. Zipperer, age 86, a resident of North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center, died Monday, April 10, 2006, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. Clara was born Aug. 12, 1919, in the town of Cato, daughter of the late Louis J. and Elizabeth (Meidl) Zipperer. She attended St. Michael Grade School, Whitelaw. She was employed at Johnson Appliance Co. and later at Mullins Furniture Store until retiring in 1984. Clara was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish-Waldo site and at one time the Christian Women. Clara was an avid Packer fan and enjoyed fishing as well as playing sheepshead and cribbage. (Survivors omitted for privacy) In addition to her parents, Clara is preceded in death by three brothers: Raymond (Rose) Zipperer; Clarence and Norbert Zipperer; three sisters: Loretta (Helmer) Franzen; Margaret (Ed) Kohlman and Arlene Kocourek; and one sister-in-law: Irene Zipperer. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 13, 2006, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish-Waldo site. The Rev. Richard Klingeisen will officiate with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. FRANK ZIPPERER cemetery #7 Frank Joseph Zipperer, 84, life-long resident of the county died Monday afternoon at the farm home in Manitowoc Rapids, following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9 a.m., from the home and at 9:30 o'clock from the St. Michael's Catholic church, Whitelaw. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Zipperer was born in Cato in 1854(sic) and when a young man took up farming.He married Miss Julia Grall in 1891 and for the past 40 years they resided on the farm in Manitowoc Rapids. He is survived by the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Frank Riederer, Cato, Mrs. Edward Burich, Reedsville; eight sons, Frank, Jr., Cato, Albert, Kewaunee, Joseph, Sheboygan, Geroge and Clement, city, Louis, Whitelaw, Richard and Wilbert on the home farm; three brothers, Anton, Franklin, Joseph and Charles, Whitelaw; two sisters, Mrs. Peter Braun, Brillion, Mrs. Alex Fischer, Manitowoc Rapids. LOUIS T. ZIPPERER cemetery #7 Louis T. Zipperer, 91, formerly of Whitelaw, died Monday afternoon at Family Heritage Nursing Home, Manitowoc, where he had been a patient since March of 1971. Prior to Family Heritage Nursing Home he was a patient at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, for two months. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, and at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. The Rev. Richard Heyman will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Zipperer was born Nov. 5, 1880, at Whitelaw, son of the late Thomas and Anna Steeber Zipperer. He married Mary Zahorik Oct. 30, 1911, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Reif Mills. The couple farmed near Whitelaw. Mr. Zipperer was also a butcher, barber and cigar maker for many years. His wife preceded him in death Nov. 28, 1970. Survivors include three sons, Erwin, of Rt. 2, Reedsville, Herb, of Whitelaw and Aloysius, of Necedah, Wis.; three daughters, Mrs. Matt (Loraine) Schwabenlender, of Green Bay and Mrs. James (Erna) Hlavachek and Mrs. Mathilda Schmitz, of Milwaukee; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Holtz, of Milwaukee and Mrs. Charles (Mary) Reindl, of Whitelaw; 14 grandchildren and a great grandchild. ALFRED P. ZLATNIK (DR.) cemetery #89C Private funeral services will be Monday at Deja and Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers, for Dr. A.P. Zlatnik, 76, a physician and surgeon for more than 50 years in the area, and former Two Rivers health officer, who died at 5:10 p.m. Friday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Burial will be in the family plot in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers. The Rev. David Hansen will officiate at the services. Dr. Zlatnik was born at Two Rivers Sept. 19, 1897, a son of the late Peter and Kate Meissner Kurtz Zlatnik. When he was two years old, the family brought him to Milwaukee. Upon the death of his mother, the family returned to Two Rivers where he attended the public elementary schools. He was graduated from Two Rivers High School with the class of 1916. He entered Marquette University School of Medicine that fall from where he was graduated in 1922. He became associated with the late Dr. A.M. Farrell in 1923 after an internship period. Dr. Zlatnik married the former Florence Calkins of Plover, Portage County, at Two Rivers May 3, 1924. Besides his wife he leaves a daughter; three sons; a sister, Mrs. Viasta Rogers of Milwaukee, and 10 grandchildren. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be given at the choice of the donor, including Grace Congregational United Church of Christ Memoiral Fund, Wisconsin Heart Assn., the Two Rivers Rotary Club Scholarship Fund, and Holy Family Hospital. PETER P. ZLATNIK cemetery #89C Peter Zlatnik, 65, father of Dr. A.P. Zlatnik, Two Rivers health officer, died yesterday afternoon at Two Rivers. Mr. Zlatnik, who spent his youth in Two Rivers, resided in Milwaukee for the last 38 years. He went to Two Rivers to be under the care of his son. Funeral services will be conducted by the Masonic lodge at Two Rivers Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Beduhn funeral home with interment in Forest View cemetery. Mr. Zlatnik was born in Bohemia on June 29, 1874 and came to this country with his parents at the age of one and one-half. The family settled in Kewaunee county and after about three years moved to Two Rivers. He was educated in the Two Rivers schools and about 38 years ago went to Milwaukee where he had since been employed as a machinist for the Nordberg Manufacturing company. About 43 years ago he married Katharine Kurtz. After her death he married Bertha Davies in 1927. Survivors are the widow; one son, Dr. A.P. Zlatnik of Two Rivers, one daughter, Mrs. Malcolm Rogers, Milwaukee; two foster daughters, Mrs. Frank Cadwell, Minneapolis, and Ruth Davies, Milwaukee; one brother, Joseph Zlatnik of Two Rivers; three sisters, Mrs. Osar Stockmeyer and Mrs. Frank Rehrauer of Two Rivers and Mrs. C.F. MARY ZMESKAL REIMER Mrs. Peter Reimer, 58, of 1612 New York avenue, died yesterday at Rochester, Minn., following an operation. Mrs. Reimer, nee Mary Kliment, was born in 1887 in the town of Kossuth. She was married to Joseph Zmeskal, who died 13 years ago. In 1938 she was married to Peter Reimer. Sister Pius, nee Magdalene Zoch, was born Feb. 3, 1889, at Appleton, daughter of the late Henry and Josephine Zoch. She entered the order of Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity in 1909 and professed her vows in 1912. Sister Pius had taught at Holy Innocents, Sacred Heart, St. Paul and St. Boniface Parochial schools of Manitowoc. She also taught at Rice Lake, Sturgeon Bay, Waukesha, Appleton, Plymouth, Ironwood and Petoskey, Mich., and Delaware, Ohio, prior to retiring in September of 1973. Mrs. Zolltheis, nee Anna Kammann, was born Sept. 29, 1888, in the town of Meeme, daughter of the late William and Caroline Lorfelt Kammann. She was married to Henry Zolltheis Dec. 20, 1913, in the Town of Herman. The couple farmed for three years at Colby and for 38 years in the town of Meeme, retiring in 1952. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in 1968. Her husband preceded her in death in 1969. Mrs. Zolltheis was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and the Ladies Guild of the church. HAROLD F. ZOLLTHEIS cemetery #32 Harold F. Zolltheis, 94, passed into eternal life on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at Sunny Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center, Sheboygan. Harold was born April 9, 1917, in Town Hull, Marathon County, Wis., to the late Henry and Anna Kammann Zolltheis. At the age of two, Harold's parents moved the family to Town Meeme, Manitowoc County. Harold attended Taylor Elementary School and Howards Grove High School. He was employed in several factory jobs, before joining his parents in dairy farming. On June 10, 1944, Harold married Jeanette E. Kautzer at St. Gregory's Parsonage, St. Nazianz, Wis. In 1952, Harold and Jeanette purchased the farm in Town Meeme from his parents and worked it until their retirement in 1979. They continued to live on the homestead until 1996, when they moved to Howards Grove. In 2007, they moved to Mapledale Senior Community in Sheboygan. In their early retirement, Harold and Jeanette traveled often, including several trips to Europe. Before the loss of his sight due to macular degeneration, Harold enjoyed woodworking and playing cards.Harold was a proud member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Howards Grove. Previously, he had been a member of St. John's UCC Schwartzwald, Elkhart Lake, where he served on the consistory. While farming, Harold was active in several farming organizations. The couple celebrated their golden wedding in 1949 on July 4. Zorn died Sept. 2, 1951. Mrs. Zorn was born in Town of Liberty. Mrs. Zorn’s maiden name was Miss Anna Profatz. ELSINA ZORN cemetery #83 Mrs. Isadore Zorn, 48-year old mother of four, two of whom are at home, died in her sleep at the family farm home in the Town of New Holstein, about a mile west of Kiel, early today. Death was reportedly caused by a cerebral hemorrhage. Mrs. Zorn had not been ailing previously, according to her family, and had been about her work as usual Wednesday. The former Elsina Mertens, she was born in the Town of New Holstein (Calumet County) Jan. 13, 1912, a daughter of Mrs. Rose Horsch Mertens and the late Edwin Mertens. She was educated at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Kiel and married to Mr. Zorn at that church, May 7, 1929. Following marriage the couple operated the Mertens home farm west of Kiel where they continued to reside. Mrs. Zorn was a member of the Christian Mothers Society of Ss. Peter and Paul Parish and was secretary-treasurer of the Swamp Edge Homemakers Club. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three daughters, one son, her mother, Mrs. Mertens, Kiel; a sister, Mrs. Frank Groeschel of Pipe (Calumet County), and six grandchildren. R. and Johanna Zorn, and on Nov. 25, 1909, married Alma Ibe, of the town of Schleswig. The Rev. George Denninger performed the ceremony. The couple lived on a farm at Louis Corners for seven years, and then moved to this city, where Mr. Zorn worked as a mason. Zorn, aged 62, who had passed away early that morning at 5:55 o'clock at his home at 1002 N. 4th street, following an illness. Frank Zimmerman officiating, Interment will be made in the Union cemetery at Louis Corners. Mr. Zorn was born September 5, 1879 in Louis Corners, the son of C.R. and Johanna Zorn. On November 25, 1909 he was married to Miss Alma Ibe of Schleswig township at the Lutheran church at Louis Corners by the Rev. George Denninger. The first seven years of their marriage they resided on a farm in Louis Corners, and in 1916 the Zorn family moved to this city. After locating here, Mr. Zorn followed the mason trade. He was also street commissioner and city assessor for several years. For many years he operated a bowling alley in the basement at the city hall. Survivors are his wife; two children, a son, Clarence, and a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Florence) Schmidt, both of this city; and two grandchildren. GERALD H. ZORN cemetery #83 3 Still Hospitalized... Services Set For Victim Of Minnesota Car Crash. Funeral services for Gerald H. Zorn, 31, of R. 2, Elkhart Lake, who was killed Monday in a two-car head on collision near Kellog, Minn., will be held Friday. The Rev. Edwin Grzendzielewski, pastor, will be the celebrant of the 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Fridolin's Catholic Church, Glenbeulah, following brief family rites at 9:15 a.m. at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. The couple lived in Kiel for four years before moving to rural Elkhart Lake. Mr. Zorn was employed by the A.A. Laun Furniture Co., Kiel. ISADORE ZORN cemetery #83 Isadore A. Zorn, 65, of R. 2, Kiel, died unexpectedly at his home Monday. He was found dead Tuesday in his home where he lived alone. Death was attributed to a heart attack as he had been under treatment for a heart ailment. He was born June 4, 1904, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Zorn, in the Town of New Holstein. He attended St. Ann's Catholic School at St. Anna. On May 7, 1929, he married Alsina Mertens in Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. They operate the Mertens farm west of Kiel. Mrs. Zorn died Sept. 15, 1960. For six years Mr. Zorn was employed at Kiel Wooden Ware Co., retiring two years ago. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Parish. Surviving are three daughters, a son, nine grandchildren, a great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Frank Enders, Sheboygan Falls, and two brothers, Raymond, rural Sheboygan Falls, and Leo, rural Elkhart Lake. Two brothers preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Friday, at 9:30 a.m. at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, and 10 o'clock at Ss. Peter an Paul Church with the Rev. george Kiefer, pastor, celebrant of the requiem Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Thursday. JOHANNA ZORN cemetery #86 Mrs. Zorn Dies at Home of Daughter At the home of her daughter, Mrs. Louis Voigt, Collins, Mrs. Johanna W. Zorn, 87, widow of Rudolph Zorn, passed away. Born in Uckermark, Germany, Sept. 28, 1849, Mrs. Zorn, nee Heidemann, came to this country in 1852 with her parents, who located in New York for four years before coming to Wisconsin in the year 1856, at which time they located on a farm in the town of Schleswig, now owned by a nephew of the deceased. Her marriage to Rudolph Zorn of the town of Schieswig was solemnized on Jan. 30, 1868, and the couple lived on the Zorn homestead near Louis Corners, which is now owned by Armie Voigt. Mr. Zorn passed away Sept. 26, 1916, and since that time Mrs. Zorn had been making her home with her children. Of the seven children born to the union, two passed away in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Theodore Voigt, on May 29, 1935. The Survivors are: three daughters, Mrs. Louis Voigt, Collins, Mrs. Rudolph Ruppenthal, Hilbert, and Mrs. George Mattes, Rockville; and two sons, George and John Zorn, both of here. Surviving also are 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the C. J. Meiselwitz Funeral Home Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Gerhard Schaefer of the Collins Lutheran church, of which Mrs. Zorn was a member, officiating. Interment was made in the Union cemetery near Louis Corners. August 12, 1937
JOHN ZORN cemetery #86 Last rites for John Zorn, 85, a former resident of Sheboygan Memorial Home, who died Friday at County Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Officiating will be the Rev. Lester Bischoff, County Hospital chaplain, with burial in the Louis Corners Cemetery, Town of Schleswig, Manitowoc County. Mr. Zorn, who never married, was born in Schleswig, Feb. 25, 1882. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Philippines from 1907-11, later working on farms in this area until retiring in 1957. OTTO ZORN cemetery #84 Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today at the Meiselwitz Funeral home, Kiel, for Otto Zorn, 80, of St. Nazianz, who passed away early Saturday afternoon at the Holy Family hospital, Manitowoc, following a short illness. The Rev. Theophil F. Uetzmann, pastor of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran church, of Manitowoc, officiated, and burial was made in Rockville Cemetery. The deceased was born April 19, 1871, in the town of Schleswig, the son of Frank and Elizabeth Zorn. On July 4, 1895, he was married to Miss Anna Profatz of the town of Meeme. They marked their golden anniversary in 1945. Following their marriage they lived in Kiel for two years. Then moved to Chicago where they resided for 20 years. He later operated a farm in the town of Meeme, and for the past 15 years has lived at St. Nazianz. Since 1942 he has been health officer for the town of Eden. Survivors include his wife; two brothers, Louis of Lena, Wis., and Frank of Portland, Ore,; and two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Hein of Sobieski, Wis., and Mrs. Emilie Morgans of Detroit Mich. HENRY E, ZUEHL cemetery #89A Masonic funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pioneers' Rest Cemetery, Two Rivers, for Henry E. (Tommy) Zuehl, 87, of North Hollywood, Calif., former Two Rivers city official and longtime painting contractor, who died at his home there Friday. The Masonic ritualistic work will be led by Victor Harding, past master of Two Rivers Lodge No. 200, F. & A.M. Mr. Zuehl was born at Two Rivers Feb. 8, 1887. He married Myrtle Viel at Two Rivers May 6, 1912. He retired in the 1940's from his painting business. Earlier he served several terms in the original City Council under the city manager form and had been a former president. A lifetime member of Emanuel United Methodist Church, Two Rivers, he was a past master of Two Rivers Lodge No. 200, F & A.M, and was also a member of Barney G. ANNA H. ZUR cemetery #89D Mrs. Anna Zur, 75, of 1619-19th St., Two Rivers, died early Saturday morning at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital where she had been a patient for two weeks. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Deja and Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers, and at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Rev. James J. Stamborski officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Mrs. Zur was born Jan. 24, 1893, in Poland. When she was 20, she came to the United States, settling in New York City. In May of 1914 she was married in New York to Louis Zur. After their marriage, the couple moved to Two Rivers where they operated a tavern on 17th street for several years. Her husband died at Two Rivers a number of years ago. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Hattie) Zyzewski of Milwaukee; a son, Felix of Two Rivers; five grandchildren and 10 great grand- children. Mr. Zutz was born Oct. 8, 1887, at Red Lake Falls, Minn., son of the late Charles and Pauline Draeger Zutz. He married Hattie Schwalbe Sept. 25, 1912. Mr. Zutz was a cheesemaker and a salesman for Curtiss Candy Co. before retiring in 1954. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Harvey, of Manitowoc and Carl, of Madison, a daughter, Mrs. Lester (Mae) Froh, of Brillion, two sisters, Mrs. Clara Helm, of Red Lake Falls and Mrs. Mathilda Busse, of Duluth, two brothers, Arnold and Louis, of Red Lake Falls and 10 grandchildren. CHRISTINE ZUTZ cemetery #78 From Der Nord Westen, 01 Nov. 1906: Death last week in Reedsville of Mrs. Christine Jutz at the advanced age of 87. The deceased came to America in 1873 with her husband from their West Prussian home. The family settled on a farm in Town Eaton, but after Mr. Jutz died about 20 years ago, his widow moved to Reedsville. She leaves 11 children.
HATTIE ZUTZ cemetery #44 Mrs. Charles Zutz, 75, of 4702 Lafayette Dr., formerly of Brillion, died Monday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Froh, of 118 Jackson St., Brillion, while on an Easter visit. Mrs. Zulz, the former Hattie Schwalbe, was born May 27, 1892, in the Town of Rockland, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Schwalbe, and was married to Mr. Zulz Sept. 25, 1912, at Collins. The couple lived in the Brillion area until her husband's death Oct. 25, 1966. HILARY ZUTZ cemetery #78 Wreck Injuries Fatal to Man Hilary Zutz, 46, Dies in Hospital MANITOWOC-Hilary Zutz, 46, and the father of seven children, a resident of Rt. 1, Valders, died Saturday night at Holy Family Hospital of cerebral hemorrhages resulting from an automobile accident. Zutz was injured last Wednesday night when his automobile crashed into a concrete culvert ???? a half mile north of St. Nazianz. Nobody saw the accident. Zutz was discovered by two boys from St. Gregory High School who then called county traffic officers to the scene. Zutz sustained chest injuries, a skull fracture, and had a multiple fracture of the right forearm. He did not become coherent and police were unable to question him concerning the accident. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in the Town of Eaton, the Rev. Philip ?ress officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Zutz was born on Aug. 11, 1910 in the Town of Eaton, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Zutz. On Oct. 31, 1934, he married the former Bernice ?????? of Valders and the couple settled on the homestead farm. WILLIAM ZUTZ cemetery #3 William J. Zutz, 60, of Rt. 1, Valders, died Saturday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Valders. He attended Niles public schools and married Laurina Nass Sept. 26, 1925, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Liberty. He was a carpenter for Burger Boat Co. In., Manitowoc, and a former cheesemaker. RYAN S. ZWART cemetery #20 Ryan S Zwart, age 21, of N2251 S. Washington Road, Chilton died Saturday March 4, 2006 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in the Town of Brothertown in Calumet County. He was born September 10, 1984 in Sheboygan a son of (private) He graduated from New Holstein High School in 2003. Ryan was currently employed at Crown Services in Kiel. Ryan and his fiancee (private) were in the process of planning their wedding which was to be April 22, 2006. Ryan was a poet and an artist. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting fishing and spending time in the swamp with his grandfather and uncle. He loved spending time with his daughter, his family and his fiancee. JACOB ZYCH cemetery #69 Newton Resident, Zych, 68, Is Dead (photo) NEWTON-Jacob P. Zych, 68, veteran tavern operator in the village and a bank director for 21 years, died at his home Wednesday noon, following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held at St. Casimir Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. L. Lisowski will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. He was born in the town of Newton July 13, 1885, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Philip Zych. In 1912 he married Miss Vanda Pekarske. He served as a field man for the Cleveland Canning Company for many years and operated a tavern in the village for 40 years. He also at one time operated a meat market adjoining the tavern for 15 years. When the Newton State Bank was organized 21 years ago he was named a director and has since served on the board of the bank. He was also a trustee of St. Casimers congregation for a number of years. Zych was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Otto Kollath of Manitowoc and Mrs. Leander Scharenbrock of Cleveland, Wis. and five grand- daughters. JOHN S. ZYCH cemetery #69 John S. Zych, 74, of Rt. 3, Manitowoc, died Thursday afternoon at home. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 10 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church, Northeim. The Rev. Antohony Betley will offiicate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Zych was born May 6, 1899, at Manitowoc, son of the late Stephen and Matilda Mella Zych. He resided in Manitowoc County all his life. Prior to his retirement in 1965 he had been employed at Manitowoc Shipbuilding for more than 20 years. Mr. Zych was a member of the Faternal Order of Eagles and the Seagulls Club. Survivors include two brothers, Alex and Stephen, of Rt. 3, Manitowoc, two sisters, Mrs. Theresa Knipp, of Rt. 3, and Miss Frances, of Manitowoc. Nieces and nephews also survive. Koszarek will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Zywicki was born March 20, 1886, at Stevens Point, son of the late Stephen and Martha Betker Zywicki. He married Eva Rozumalski Feb. 3, 1908, at Rosholt, Wis. The couple moved to Manitowoc in 1925. Mr. Zywicki was employed at Invincible Metal Furniture Co. for more than 25 years, retiring in 1956. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary Church. His wife preceded him in death Aug. 6, 1972. Survivors include a son, Leonard of Manitowoc, five daughters, Mrs. Alvina Gospodarek, Mrs. Jerome (Evelyn) Lawrence and Mrs. Donald (Bernadette) Damman of Manitowoc, Mrs. Leroy (Agnes) Vondruska of Two Rivers and Miss Dorothy Zywicki of Wheeling, Ill., a brother, Herman of Stevens Point, 18 grand- children and 21 great grandchildren.
