ADOLPH C. WAGNER cemetery #41 Adolph C. Wagner, 74, of Rt. 1, Valders, died Wednesday afternoon at the office of Dr. M.E. Foley of St. Nazianz after a heart attack. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Valders Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Rev. Robert Onkka officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Wagner was born July 23, 1886, in the Town of Eaton, son of the late John and Caroline Zimmerman Wagner. He married Julia Severson July 8, 1915, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Collins. He farmed 33 years in the Town of Eaton and retired in 1954. He was a member of Valders Evangelical Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, Earl on the homestead farm; three daughters, Mrs. Oscar Severson of Longview, Wash., and Mrs. Vincent Stipanich, and Lorraine of Milwaukee; three brothers, Charles of Rt. 2, Reedsville, Herman of Rt. 2, Manitowoc, and Ferd of Rt. 4, Chlton; two sisters, Mrs. Ted Wagner of Rt. 2, Kiel, and Mrs. Louisa Behnke of Rt. 2, Reedsville; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. December 29, 1960 P. 7 ALBERT L. WAGNER cemetery #82 Albert L. Wagner, 86, of 210 Pain St., Kiel, died Sunday morning at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient two weeks. He was born on Dec. 3, 1887 in Manitowoc, the son of the late David and Caroline Boeckmann Wagner. He attended school in Manitowoc. On Nov. 27, 1909 he married Alvina Schultz in Kiel. Mr. Wagner operated cheese factories in the Kiel area for 22 years. The couple moved to Horicon in 1928 where he owned and operated a bowling alley. Seven years later they moved to Kiel where he opened the Wagner Bowling Lanes, which he operated until retirement in September, 1948. His wife died on May 21, 1957. On March 5, 1958 he married Ida Eichman at St. Peter United Church of Christ in Kiel. He was a member of St. Peter UCC, Manitowoc Tribe 49, Improved Order of Redmen and the 24-Hour Club of the lodge. Survivors are his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Edwin (Joyce) Voigt of Kiel; a son, Howard of Horicon; a stepson, Norbert Eichman of St. Nazianz; three grandchildren and a step-grandchild; two great grandchildren and two great-step-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Emma Stueber of Horicon. Three sisters and six brothers preceded him in death. Funeral services will be at St. Peter UCC. The Rev. John F. Baumann, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be ion Kiel Cemetery. ALICE WAGNER cemetery #21 Miss Wagner Of Valders Is Sudden Victim Of Death Alice Wagner, 16-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wagner, Valders, Route 2, died suddenly this morning at 7:30 o'clock at her home. Upon retiring last evening Alice made no complaint of feeling ill, and when she arose early this morning she merely mentioned having a slight pain in her arms and head. Her death occurred an hour later. Miss Wagner was born December 9, 1918, at the home where she died. Following her graduation from the St. Gregory's school at St. Nazianz she stayed at home to help her parents. Survivors are her parents, nine brothers and one sister; Theodore, Manitowoc; Erwin, Sheboygan; Herbert, Valders, Route 1; Walter, Henry, Stephen, Clarence, John and Marie, at home, and Francis, Fond du Lac. Members of the Young Ladies sodality of St. Gregory's Catholic church will meet at the Wagner home Sunday evening at 8 o'clock to say the rosary. They will also attend the funeral in a body. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock at St. Gregroy's church at St. Nazianz. The Rev. Fintan, S.D.S. will officiate and burial will be made in the adjoining cemetery. ALVINA WAGNER cemetery #82 Mrs. Albert L. Wagner, 68, of 210 Paine St., Kiel, died early Tuesday afternoon at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient since Monday. Nee Alvina Schultz, Mrs. Wagner was born Aug. 15, 1888, in the town of Meeme, a daughter of the late Emil and Alvina Koeppen Schultz, the family moved to Kiel when she was 5 years old, and she attended school there. She was married to Mr. Wagner at Kiel Nov. 27, 1909, and until 1927 the couple operated cheese factories in the Kiel area. From 1928 to 1935 they operated a bowling alley at Horicon, then returned to operate a bowling alley at Kiel until 1951. Mrs. Wagner was a member of St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed Church, the Woman’s Guild of the church, and Kiel Branch 2502, Royal Neighbors of America. She leaves her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Edwin (Joyce) Voigt Jr, Kiel; a son, Howard, of Horicon; three grandchildren; four brothers, Ferdinand and Emil, Sheboygan Falls, Richard of Sheboygan, and Oscar, of Glenbeulah; and four sisters, Mrs. Otto Strade and Mrs. Reinhold Horst, both of Kiel, R. 2, Mrs. Louise Bauman, now living in Texas, and Mrs. Henry Gebhardt, Kiel. Three sisters preceded Mrs. Wagner in death. Funeral services will be held at St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed Church, the Rev. Vernon E. Jaberg, pastor, officiating. ANNA WAGNER cemetery #36 Mrs. Anna Wagner, 86, a former Town of Kossuth resident, died Tuesday afternoon at Manitowoc County Hospital where she had been a patient about a month. She was born Anna Frye July 18, 1876, at Denmark, Brown County, and was married to Anton Kazda in 1894. The couple operated a farm in the Town of Kossuth. Her husband died in 1906 and in 1910, she was married to Joseph Wagner. The couple owned and operated a farm in the Town of Kossuth. He died in 1946, but she continued to reside on the home farm up to about a month ago. Among survivors are two sons, Joseph Kazda and Anton Kazda of Manitowoc; two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Mraz of Two Rivers and Mrs. Roland Silbersack of Rt. 2, Two Rivers; three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Hanek of Denmark, Mrs. Barbara Youra of Rt. 4, Manitowoc, and Mrs. Frances Klaus of Green Bay and one grandchild. ANNA WAGNER cemetery #78 Mrs. Ernest Wagner, 61, nee Anna Schroeder, of Collins, died at a Milwaukee hospital this morning after a short illness. She had been visiting with her son, Daniel, when she was taken ill. She was born in the town of Rockland in 1883. She attended rural schools in that district and in 1901 she was married to Ernest Wagner. The couple settled in the township and lived there ever since. She was a member of the German Lutheran church of Rockland. She is survived by her husband; two sons, Daniel, of Milwaukee, and Walter, of Rockland; three daughters, Mrs. Henry Klann, of Rockland, Mrs. Anton Schroeder, of Brillion, and Mrs. Reuben Federwitz, of Rantoul; two brothers, Henry and Louis Schroeder both of Rockland; two sisters, Mrs. Godfrey Braheim and Mrs. John Schroeder, both of Rockland; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Henry Klann home in Rockland and at 2 p.m. at the German Lutheran church, the Rev. Marcus Schwartz officiang. ARVIN WAGNER cemetery #82 Arvin J. Wagner, 87, of 431 S. First Street, Kiel, died Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 9, 2004, at the Willowdale Nursing and Rehab Center in New Holstein where he had been a resident for the past five years. Arvin was born Aug. 7, 1917, in School Hill, son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Spindler Wagner. He attended Woodland School in the Town of Meeme and Kiel High School. On Aug. 20, 1938 he married the former Hilma Simonsmeier at Bethel UCC in the Town of Herman. Arvin was a cheesemaker at S & R cheese in Plymouth for nine years. He then worked for Tecumseh Products for 26 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Peter UCC and enjoyed gardening and playing cards. (Survivors omitted for privacy) Arvin was preceded in death by three brothers, Art, Arno and Edgar Wagner; one sister, Lydia Wagner; two grandchildren, Nathan and Jennifer Wagner, and one sister-in-law, Verona Wagner. BERNARD WAGNER cemetery #43 From Der Nord Westen, 01 Nov. 1906: An accident with a fatal outcome occurred in our city Saturday afternoon. Bernhard Wagner, an elderly resident of Manitowoc (he is 73), cabinet maker by trade, gave up his business several years ago but still does odd jobs here and there. He was busy Saturday afternoon repairing a wooden ceiling in the office of the Sloan Loan Co. on "K" Street. He stood on a scaffolding only 6 ft. high and tried to loosen a board with a chisel. The board suddenly gave way and Mr. Wagner lost his balance and fell from the scaffolding. He fell backwards and hit his neck in such a way that it broke, causing his death. Others nearby tried to help, but he was already dead. His son was notified at work in the boiler factory, and he arranged to have the body brought to the house. Mr. Wagner was a long-time resident of Manitowoc and was well thought of in the city.

CARLTON WAGNER cemetery #89D Carlton Wagner, 51, of 721 N. Seventh St., Manitowoc, a well known plumber employed the past 10 years by the Nelesen Plumbing Co. at Manitowoc and for many years, a resident of Two Rivers, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home shortly after midnight Monday. Mr. Wagner, who had been in previous good health, retired shortly before midnight Sunday after he had been viewing television programs with his wife in the later hours of the evening. He was stricken a short while later in his bed. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Klein and Stangel, Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers, the Rev. W. G. Haase officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. Mr. Wagner was born at Seymour, Wis., on July 30, 1904, a son of the late Carl F. and Emma Kretschman Wagner. He came to Two Rivers with the family in 1919 and a short while later he began an apprenticeship in plumbing at the former Elliott Plumbing Co. at Two Rivers. He left the trade in 1929 in become a pipe-fitter and serviceman with the Wisconsin Public Services Corp. at Two Rivers. Ten years ago he became a plumber with the Nelesen firm at Manitowoc. The Wagners took up their home in Manitowoc a year ago. On Oct. 27, 1942, Mr. Wagner married the former Stella Zola of Two Rivers at Neelyville, Mo. Besides his wife he leaves four sisters, Mrs. Edward Weber of Manitowoc, Mrs. Solomon Mathies of Fort Worth, Texas, Mrs. Elmer Volsch of Two Rivers, and Mrs. Eugene Blaha of Two Rivers; and a brother, Earl Wagner of Luxemburg, Wis. For many years Mr. Wagner was affiliated with Goodfellowship and Katzenjammer clubs at Two Rivers. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday. CARMEN WAGNER cemetery #87 Carmen Wagner, 95, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2007 at Omro Care Center. She was the former Carmen Rieck, born July 21, 1911 in the Town of Schleswig, daughter of the late Richard & Annie Lutzke Rieck. On July 29, 1933 she married Herbert Wagner of Valders in Louis Corners. The couple farmed all their married life in the Town of Schleswig. Her husband Herbert preceded her in death on March 11, 1964. After Herbert's death Carmen moved to New Holstein and then to Kiel in 1984. Carmen was employed at the Salvatorian Center, New Holstein for 18 years. She was a life-long member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Louis Corners. Survivors include her two daughters, four grandchildren (Survivors omitted for privacy.) She is further survived by four great grand- children and three step grandchildren and three step great grand- children (Survivors omitted for privacy.) She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel with the Rev. Philip J. Bogen, Pastor of Lord of the Lakes, Winneconne officiating. Burial will take place in Zion Evengelical Lutheran Cemetery, Louis Corners. WAGNER cemetery #44 A solemn requiem high mass was held at Holy Innocents church in Manitowoc Monday at 9:30 a.m. for Mrs. Joseph Wagner at Branch who passed away Thursday evening at Holy Family hopsital (sic) in Manitowoc following a week's illnss. Officiating were the Rev. Edward Wagner of Osman, the Rev. James Wagner of West De Pere, deacon, the Rev. Henry Halinde of St. Wendel, Rev. Father Radey of Manitowoc, master of ceremonies, and the Rev. Henry Letz. Burial was made in Evergreen cemetery. Pallbearers were four brothers, Miles Miley, Giles Miley, Alfred Miley and Raymond Miley, and two brother-in-law, Wendel Wagner and Leo Wagner. CLARENCE WAGNER cemetery #79 Clarence (Butch) Wagner, 39, of Reedsville, was found dead in bed at the home of his employer, Otto Humburg, with whom he made his home, this morning. Mr. Humburg is absent in the north on a deer hunting trip. Wagner has made his home with Mr. Humburg for years, being employed in the latter's eat shop and tavern. He had closed up the eating place last night and retired as usual. His survivors include a sister, Mrs. Henry Fischer of Brillion. Funeral plans will be announced Friday. CLARENCE R. WAGNER cemetery #21 Clarence R. Wagner, age 87, of Valders died Sunday morning, July 27, 2008, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan, surrounded by his children. Clarence was born November 21, 1920 in the town of Liberty, son of the late Albert and Mary Ann (Griese) Wagner. On November 19, 1949 he married the former Marion Polster at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz. She preceded him in death on July 14, 2008. Clarence spent his life working on the family farm with his wife and children since its purchase in April, 1950. He was an avid Packers, Badgers and Brewers fan. CLIFFORD WAGNER cemetery #90 Clifford Wagner, 69, of Black Creek, former Town of Meeme resident, died Saturday evening at home. Funeral services have been tentatively set for Tuesday at Muehl Funeral Home, Black Creek. Mr. Wagner was born Feb. 7, 1899, in the town of Meeme, son of the late Otto and Ida Sohn Wagner. He married Marie Westermeyer in the town of Meeme. Kiel, Wis. - Horses which he was leading to pasture with a strap tied around his arm, ran away and dragged Clinton Wagner, son of Matthew Wagner, a farmer living near here, to his death. CONRAD WAGNER cemetery #83 Aged Resident Of Plymouth Called To Rest Monday. Plymouth. -Conrad Wagner, aged 82, died at his home in Plymouth Monday evening at 10:35 o'clock. Funeral services will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic church at Plymouth Thursday morning at 9 o'clock and burial will be made in the Kiel cemetery. The Rev. A. J. July will officiate. Mr. Wagner was born in August, 1848, at Buffalo, New York. Some years later he came to Manitowoc where he lived until eighteen years ago when he came to Plymouth to make his home. He was married on November 3, 1874, and besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. J. Tagge of Plymouth, and a son, Matt Wagner, also of Plymouth. DOMINIC WAGNER cemetery #13 Dominic Wagner, 72, prominent business man of Cleveland, passed away at his home Monday after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held with a solemn requiem high mass Thursday at St. Wendel’s Catholic Church with the Re. Theodore Kersten officiating. Interment will be made in St. Wendel cemetery. Mr. Wagner was born in the town of Centerville, Nov. 25, 1865, the son of Susan and Michael Wagner. Before his marriage Nov. 28, 1893, to Miss Katie Hoffmann who died in February of 1931, Mr. Wagner was a cheese maker at Branch. After his marriage he engaged in the cheesemaking business at Franklin for three years. For the past 41 years he had been at Cleveland where he had a tavern, and was engaged in the lumber and coal and hotel business. For the past 12 years and up to the time of his illness several months ago he continued in the lumber and coal and hotel business. He was a member of the Catholic Knights and the Order of Moose. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. John Mahoney of Green Bay and Lillian at home; four sons, Arthur of Manitowoc, Alfred of Cleveland and Edwin and Clarence at home; two brothers, John Wagner of Cleveland in Manitowoc County, and Michael at Stratford, Wis.; three sisters, Mrs. Albert Nennig of Cleveland; Mrs. Frank Dieringer and Mrs. Agatha Lessig of Stratford. EDGAR WAGNER cemetery #81 Edgar C Wagner, 77, of 20228 Highway X, Kiel, died Wednesday afternoon at home following a brief illness. He was born July 31, 1909, in the Town of Liberty, Manitowoc County the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Spindler Wagner. He attended Woodland schools. On May 19, 1934, he was married to Verona Reichwaldt at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Town of Schleswig. Mr. Wagner farmed in the Town of Schleswig his entire life. He was a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ and a past member of the church’s consistory. He was a clerk for the Hillside Grove School Board. Survivors include his wife; a daughter (private), four grandchildren; a great- grandchild; and two brothers, Arvin of Kiel and Arno of Louis Corners. EDWARD O. WAGNER cemetery #33 Edward O. Wagner, 71, of 1329 S. 36th St., Manitowoc, died as a result of drowning Friday in Lake Poygan. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Robert Sawall will officiate and burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Kossuth. Mr. Wagner was born May 26, 1899, at Fischer, Minn., son of the late Henry and Katherine Wiediahaver Wagner. He later moved to Manitowoc. He married Mabel Pautz Aug. 25, 1923, at Manitowoc. They located at Valders and Collins before coming to Manitowoc. Mr. Wagner had been employed as a boilermaker at Manitowoc Shipbuiding, Inc., for 32 years. In 1953, he was employed by Pittsburgh-DesMoines Steel Co. constructing dams around the country. He was a member of the Boilermakeers Local 443. Survivors include his wife; three sons, two daughters, a sister, Mrs. Margaret Glasow, of Reedsville and 12 grandchildren. A sister and a brother preceded him in death. ELIZABETH WAGNER cemetery #56 Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Wagner, 76, of Route 1, Sheboygan, will be held at the Bethel Evangelical and Reformed Church at Ada. The Rev. Lloyd Weber, pastor, will officiate. Committal rites will be conducted at the grave on the family lot in the church cemetery. Mrs. Wagner died Wednesday morning at her home in Howards Grove following a short illness. She was born Aug. 6, 1878, in Town Herman, a daughter of the late Jacob and Emma Spindler, attended rural schools, and was married to Jacob Wagner on April 26, 1900. After settling in Kiel for several years after their marriage, the couple purchased a farm in the town of Liberty (Manitowoc County) which they operated for 34 years. Since 1946, Mrs. Wagner had made her home at Howards Grove. She was a life-long member of Bethel Evangelical and Reformed Church at Ada. Survivors are four sons, Arthur, of Howards Grove, Arno and Edgar, of Town Schleswig, and Arvin of Greenbush; seven grandchildren, and four sisters, Mrs. August Ebeling, Sheboygan, Mrs. William Bramstedt, Howards Grove, Mrs. Otto Arnhoelter, Town Herman, and Mrs. Fred Mauer, Kiel. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. A. L. Bowe officiating at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Valders Lutheran cemetery. When a child she came to Kiel with her parents where she received her education. March 20, 1920, she was married to Ludwig H. Wagner of Kiel and they continued to reside at Kiel. EMMA WAGNER (d. 1955) cemetery #44 Miss Emma Wagner, 76, of 738 S. 23rd St., Manitowoc, died Sunday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mittnacht Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Gervase J. Zanotti of the First Presbyterain Church will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Miss Wagner was born Jan. 21, 1878, at Gilman Station, N.Y., daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wagner. She came with her parents in 1892 to Manitowoc and was employed for 20 years as a garment finisher by the Wisconsin Knitting Mills of Manitowoc. For the past 26 years she had made her home with a brother, John. Survivors include two brothers, John of Manitowoc and Frank of Milwaukee, three nieces and a nephew. ERNST WAGNER cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 18 Aug. 1892: Ernst Wagner, who had suffered a stroke on 28 June, succumbed last Sat. morning. He was born 08 Mar. 1829 in Hessen-Darmstadt and thus was in his 64th year. In 1849 he joined his parents in setting out for America. On the journey from his home to the port he had the misfortune of crushing his right arm which had to be amputated. While he remained under medical care, his parents continued on with the journey. After he recovered, he came to this country by himself, settling in Washington County and worked, despite his handicap, on his parents' farm. In 1854 he married and settled in Manitowoc. (The article details his business ventures and success.) In 1890 his wife died and he later remarried. He is survived by his second wife, and from his first marriage he leaves 3 children, all grown and married - two daughters, Mrs. A. Leubner and Mrs. W. Dicke - and one son, Ernst Wagner. His funeral, which was attended by a large number of mourners, took place Mon. afternoon at the city cemetery. EVERETT WAGNER cemetery #76 Everet E. Wagner, 52, of Reedsville, died Monday morning at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, after a brief illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John and St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Reedsville, the Rev. Harvey Heckendorf officiating. Burial will be in West Side Church Cemetery. Mr. Wagner was born Dec. 22, 1911, in the Town of Rockland, son of Charles Wagner of Reedsville and the late Hattie Behnke Wagner. He married the former Luella Bratz Feb. 14, 1939, at St. John and St. James Church, was employed at Brillion Iron Works and was part-time janitor at Reedsville Public School. FRANCIS WAGNER cemetery #21 Reburial services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Gregory’s Catholic church, St. Nazianz, for Pfc. Francis Wagner who was killed in the South Pacific in September, 1944. The Rev. Fr. Clyde, a brother of the deceased hero, was the celebrant at the requiem high mass, and the Rev. Finton Holzknecht conducted the services at the grave. Military services were also conducted and over 40 men in uniform attended the services. Survivors include the deceased’s mother, Mrs. Julius Wagner, St. Nazianz; two brothers and two sisters. FRANK WAGNER cemetery #41 The angel of Death visited three homes in this community within a week and in two cases has taken away the first born child and in the third a promising young man in the prime of life. Frank Wagner, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Wagner of Liberty died at the home of his parents, at the age of 3? (34?) and was buried at Valders cemetery on Sunday, April 22. Deceased was a bright, intelligent young man of Christian character, beloved by all who knew him. He was a graduate of the Whitewater normal and had been engaged in teaching for a number of years in the southern counties of the state. He continued in his chosen professional until attacked by the acute ailment which ended his life after a suffering of a little more than a month. He was an active worker in the Sunday school and in other church work. He was an exemplary young man, whom it would be well and honorable for any youth to emulate as he worked his own way through a successful career. He is survived by his parents, one sister and five brothers. Your correspondent and all sorrowing friends extend their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones in each of the above named instances. He was born 09 Mar. 1860, thus almost reaching the age of 40. He is survived by his wife, a 16-yr. old son and 4 younger daughters. He is also survived by 4 brothers and one sister, Mrs. Ch. HENRY W. WAGNER cemetery #87 Henry W. Wagner, 87, of Louis Corners Rd., died Saturday morning, Nov. 23, at his home He was born Feb. 11, 1915, in the town of Liberty, son of the late Albert and Marie Gries Wagner. Henry attended Pigeon River School in the Town of Liberty. On Nov. 26, 1938, he married the former Gertrude Oehldrich at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz. The couple farmed in the Town of Schleswig until their retirement in 1990. Henry was a member of the Kiel Tri-County Co-op board of directors for more than 27 years, past delegate to the Lake-to-Lake Co-op, past Land-O-Lakes district board member for nine years, past Lake Land Egg Co-op delegate, past School Board member for nine years, past member and delegate of Feeder Pig Co-op, past president of Town of Schleswig Farm Bureau, past member and organizer of Lakeshore Farm management, and attended Kiel Adult Farmer Night School for 25 years. In his free time Henry enjoyed playing sheepshead and Skat. He also enjoyed bowling, woodworking, flowers and gardening. HERBERT R. WAGNER cemetery #87 Herbert R. Wagner, 56, a well-known retired Town of Schleswig farmer, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon at Manitowoc Memorial Hospital after being hospitalized for one day. He was born June 7, 1907, at Milwaukee, the son of Theodore and Minnie Wagner. He attended grade school at Collins and was married to the former Carmen Rieck of the Town of Schleswig July 29, 1933, at Louis Corners. The couple made their home on the present farm where Mr. Wagner engaged in trucking as well as agriculture. At the time of his death, he was employed at the Kohler Co. He was a member of the Manitowoc County Sheriff's and Deputies' Association for many years and of the town board of the Town of Schleswig. Mr. Wagner was also a member of the former Fountain Park school board, of Zion Lutheran Church at Louis Corners, a member of the council of the church and the Men's Club of the church. HILMA WAGNER cemetery #82 Hilma M. Wagner, 89, formerly of 431 S. First St., Kiel died Sunday evening, March 19, 2006 at Willowdale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein where she resided the past two months. She was a former Hilma Simonsmeier, born Sept, 21, 1916 in rural Plymouth, daughter of the late Arthur and Lena Klopf Simonsmeier. On August 20, 1938 she married Arvin J. Wagner at Bethel UCC in the Town of Herman. Arvin preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 2004. Hilma worked at Siebkens’s Resort, Elkhart Lake, the former Hanson Glove Factory, Kiel and the former Baumann’s Restaurant, Kiel for a number of years. She was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Kiel. Hilma was an excellent baker, enjoyed playing cards, sewing, knitting, quilting, gardening, canning, and dancing. They resided in the Manitowoc area and farmed all their lives. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1967. JOHN WAGNER cemetery #43 AGED RESIDENT DIES WHILE ON VISIT TO HIS DAUGHTER While on a vist to his daughter, Mrs. George Adelman, on Route 2, just south of the city, John Wagner, 83, passed away from a heart attack this morning. He has been residing with another daughter, Mrs. William Hartman of Sheboygan and came to the Adelman home Sunday for a visit, when he was stricken Monday night. The deceased was born in Buffalo, N.Y., in 1848 and came to Wisconsin in early life. His wife preceded him in death five years ago. Three sons, Albert of Valders, Joseph and Frank of Manitowoc; four daughters, Mrs. Matt Meyer, Mrs. Anton Neilitz and Mrs. George Adelman of Manitowoc and Mrs. William Hartman of Sheboygan, forty grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren survive. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning from the home of a daughter, Mrs. Neilitz, 1021 South 20th street at nine o'clock and at 9:30 from the St. Andrew's church with interment in Calvary cemetery. JOSEPH WAGNER cemetery #56 Joseph Wagner, aged 58, resident of the town of Liberty, near Pigeon Lake, Manitowoc County, died at the Holy Family hospital at Manitowoc Sunday from injuries received early Wednesday morning when he was assisting to extinguish the fire which destroyed the two-story frame home of the farm of his neighbor, John Bysbalis,(sic) route 2, Valders. Mr. Wagner fell from the roof of the burning building and was picked up unconscious. Mr. Wagner was born Dec. 25, 1875 in the Town of Meeme on the Wagner homestead, the son of Michael and Agnes Wagner. In April 1897 he was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Spindler of the town of Herman. For two years after their marriage, the couple resided in Kiel and for the past twenty-six years they lived on the present Wagner farm. Besides his wife, Mr. Wagner is survived by four sons, Arthur, Arno, Arvin, at home and Edgar of the town of Schleswig; three sisters, Mrs. Jacob Ramminger, who lives near Kiel; Mrs. William Ramminger of the town of Meeme and Mrs. Joseph Knop of Kiel; and a brother, Matthias of Richmond, Cal. One daughter died in infancy. The body can be viewed at the C. J. Meiselwitz Funeral Home at Kiel after which it will be taken to the Wagner home where funeral services will be held Wednesday and at Bethel Reformed church in the town of Herman. The Rev. JULITTA E. WAGNER cemetery #43 Julitta E. Wagner, age 94, a former Manitowoc resident, died early on Friday morning, Sept. 5, 2008, at Hamilton Memorial Home, Two Rivers. She was born on June 13, 1914, in Rib Lake, daughter of the late Andrew and Clara (Bonde) Bushman. On Oct. 8, 1938, she married Mathew J. Wagner at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Alverno. He preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1992. Julitta became a gold star mother when her son, Philip, was killed in action serving his country during the Vietnam War. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) She was preceded in death by a son: Philip Wagner; three grandchildren: Patti, Jeff and William "Billy" Wagner; six sisters: Marcella, Margaret, Rosalia, Marie, Aurelia and Cecelia; and four brothers: Odilo, Joseph, Raymond and Daniel. KATHERINE WAGNER cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 03 July 1890: Death yesterday morning following a long illness of Mrs. Katharine Wagner, wife of our well-known fellow citizen Ernst Wagner, Sr. The deceased was widely acquainted and active in our locality. She came to Manitowoc with her husband many years ago when it was still a small town and participated in the pioneer life of the community. She bore 7 children of whom 4 predeceased her. She was born 22 Jan. 1826 in Holzhausen, Hessen-Darmstadt, therefore she reached an age of 64 yrs. 5 mos. 11 days. She married Ernst Wagner in 1851 in Washington Co., Wisc., and shortly after the pair came to Manitowoc. Her 3 surviving children are: Mr. Ernst Wagner, Jr., Mrs.Alfred Leubner, and Mrs. Wilhelm Dicke. The funeral will be held Sat. at 2 p.m.
KATIE WAGNER cemetery #83 Mrs. Katharine Wagner, 93, a former resident of Kiel, died late Monday morning at the Anna M. Reiss Home following a lingering illness. Her brother, Nicholaus Lorge of Plymouth, believed to have been the oldest resident of Sheboygan County, died last Saturday at the age of 97. Born March 10, 1860, at Belgium, Wis., she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lorge, pioneer residents of Calumet County, and moved to Kiel after her marriage to Michael Wagner at St. Ann's Church at St. Ann. Mrs. Wagner had been a resident of the Anna M. Reiss Home since 1941. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Kiel. Only immediate survivors are a grandson, Henry Wagner, of Chilton, and four great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death in 1931. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Meiselwitz Funeral, Kiel, and at 9:30 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. F.X. Kheil, pastor, will be the celebrant of the requiem high mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. LILAH WAGNER cemetery #41 For the second time in about two months death entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Wagner of Valders, calling their only daughter, Lila, age 12 years, last week. LUDWIG H. WAGNER cemetery #41 Ludwig (Louis) H. Wagner, 68, of 1933 Seventh St., Kiel, died early Saturday morning at home. He had been ill several months. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Kiel, with the Rev. Allan L. Bowe offficiating. Burial will be in Valders Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery. Mr. Wagner was born in the Town of Liberty, Feb. 1, 1893, son of the late William and Louisia Gutschow Wagner. He attended township schools and Nov. 28, 1920, married Elona Goebel of Kiel. He had been employed by Kiel Woodenware Co. and the Street Department of the city. He retired last year. He was a member of Manitowoc Tribe No. 49 Approved Order of Redmen and the Twenty-Four Club of the lodge. MARGARETHA WAGNER cemetery #83 The burial of Mrs. Margaret Wagner of Plymouth took place in the Kiel Catholic cemetery on Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, preceded by services at the St. John's Catholic church at Plymouth, with the Rev. A. J. July officating. Mrs. Wagner was born December 24, 1853 in Germany, and came to this country with her parents, Mathew and Agnes Kretsch at the age of 3 years. Her marriage to Conrad Wagner took place 60 years ago, and Mr. Wagner preceded her in death 6 years ago. One son also preceded her in death. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Christine Tagge of Plymouth, with whom she made her home the past 25 years; a son, Matthew Wagner of Manitowoc; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Mathew Kretsch of the town of Meeme, and John Kretsch of the town of Herman. 1936
MARIA M. WAGNER cemetery #10 From Der Nord Westen, 03 Sep. 1903: Death on 24 Aug. on the farm near Cleveland of Mrs. Georg Wagner, Sr., of old age debility. She was a native of the Rhineland and reach the age of 76 yrs. 11 mos. 18 days. The funeral was conducted by Pastor Sprengling on 27 Aug. at the Lutheran Cemetery in Centerville. Her son Georg died in 1900, but 4 other sons and a daughter still survive.
MARION WAGNER cemetery #32 Marion I. Wagner, age 86, of 3518 Rasher St., Manitowoc, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at the Manitowoc Health Care Center. She was born on Oct. 25, 1921, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Clyde H. and Harriet (Babock) Shaw. Marion was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, class of 1939. On Dec. 27, 1941, she married George J. Wagner at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on July 28, 2006. Marion was a press operator at Mirro Aluminum Company until her retirement. She was also employed with Manitowoc Supper Club as a waitress. She was a member of the St. Mary Rosary and Altar Society. MICHAEL WAGNER cemetery #57 82-Year Old Meeme Resident Dies Monday The death of Michael Wagner, aged 82 years, one of the oldest pioneers of Meeme, occurred on Monday at 10 p.m., at the homestead farm of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William Ramminger in the town of Meeme. The deceased was born in Germany in March, 1845, and was brought to this country with his parents at the age of two years. The family lived in Schwarzwald for a number of years and then in Meeme. Mr. Wagner was united in marriage to Agnes Klein fifty-three years ago. Since the death of his wife some thirty years ago the deceased has been making his home with his daughter. The survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Jacob Ramminger of Schleswig, Mrs. William Ramminger of Meeme, Mrs. Gustave Ninmer of School Hill, and Mrs. Joseph Knop of Kiel; two sons, Joseph Wagner of Eaton and Michael of California; and one brother, Conrad Wagner of Plymouth. Also 20 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.The Rev. Fr. SUSANNA AND MICHAEL WAGNER Cemetery #13 The following was sent in by a researcher/see contributors page "Susanna "Fischbach" Wagner immigrated to America in the year 1852 with her parents, brother, and sisters. They left Luxembourg in November of that year. Securing passage on the bark "Lucia Field", they sailed from Anterp, Belgium and landed in New York on December 1, 1852. Michael Wagner born March 11, 1829 in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg immigrated to America with his father, John Wagner, his sister, Regina; and his three brothers, Franz, John, & J. Mic. They sailed from Antwerp, Belgium on the ship "Tropic" and arrived in New York on October 10, 1854. The Wagner's also settled in the Town of Centerville, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. Susanna "Fischbach" Wagner is buried with her husband, Michael Wagner (son of John) who died November 25, 1900 in Centerville; a daughter, Margaretha "Wagner" Bahr; a son, Dominic Wagner; and another son, John Wagner in St. Wendel's Cemetery in Cleveland, Wisconsin." *************** From Der Nord Westen, 29 Nov. 1900: Mr. Carl Wuensch in Cleveland wrote to the "Sheboygan Zeitung" that Michal Wagner, who lives in Cleveland in the home of his son-in-law Carl Bahr, wandered away Sat. evening going south on the railroad tracks. Before his absence was noticed and one could begin to look for him he was nowhere to be found. Sat. morning at 9 o'clock it was reported by a southbound freight train that a man's body was lying in a ditch alongside the tracks. A search party immediately set out and found Wagner's body near Erdmann's Store and brought it back to Cleveland. Because there were no obvious body wounds, no inquest was necessary. It is believed that he had suffered another epileptic fall from which his death ensued. The deceased was born in Stefel, Luxemburg, and was over 72 yrs. of age. He came to Centerville in 1848 where he operated his father's farm. In addition to his wife he is survived by 3 sons, 4 daughters, and various grandchildren. His sons are Michel, Dominic, and John; the daughters are Mrs. C.A. Bahr, Mrs. Heinrich Lessig, Mrs. Dieringer, and Miss Anna Wagner.

SYLVESTER P. "SYL" WAGNER cemetery #83 Sylvester P. "Syl" Wagner, 79, of Kiel died unexpectedly Friday morning July 4, 2008. He was born December 18, 1928 in St. Joe, WI son of the late Albert and Dorothy (Stephanie) Wagner. Syl attended school in Johnsburg and St. Cloud. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Germany during the Korean War. During that time he traveled with General Eisenhower for several months while he was campaigning for President. Sylvester was employed at the Langenfeld Associated Mink Farm, NewHolstein, he also managed the Silvers Springs Fish Hatchery in Plymouth, for many years until his retirement he was the head custodian for the Kiel School District. Syl was a member of the New Holstein American Legion Post #124 and was also a member of the Kiel VFW Post #6707. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the DANK Club of Sheboygan. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, working on his tractors and traveling. WILLIAM WAGNER cemetery #89C In ill health for more than eight months, William F. Wagner, 1403 26th street, Two Rivers, died at the Two Rivers Municipal hospital shortly before one o'clock this morning. He had been a hospital patient since last Saturday. Mr. Wagner, in charge of the information office of the Aluminum Goods Mfg. company, Plant No. 1 up to his illness early in the year, was taken seriously ill two months ago. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Grace Congregational church in Two Rivers, the Rev. Thomas H. Hawkes officiating. Interment will be in Forest View cemetery. The body may be viewed at the Beduhn funeral home Saturday afternoon until 11 o'clock Monday morning, when it will be removed to the church, there to lie in state until the hour of services. William Frederick Wagner was born at Bonduel, Shawano county, on April 20, 1883, a son of the late Matthew and Mary Wagner, pioneers in that vicinity. In his youth Mr. Wagner assisted his father in the operation of a flourishing lumber yard business and also in the conduct of a sawmill. In 1905 he established the Wagner Mercantile company Suring, Wis., which he operated until 1921, when the family came to Two Rivers. He was married to Miss Marie Holler of Marion, Wis. on November 26, 1908. Besides his widow, Mr. Wagner leaves two sons, Milton C. and W. Dale Wagner, both of Milwaukee, three sisters, Mrs. G. Bocher of Gillett, Mrs. Paul Truedenbach of Suring, and Mrs. Mary Larsen of Bonduel, and three brothers, Adolph of Ontonagon, Mich., and Matthew and Oscar, both of Suring. WILLIAM WAGNER cemetery #41 HEART ATTACK IS FATAL TO WM. WAGNER Sunday Up and about on Saturday, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Zimmer, at Francis Creek, with whom he has been making his home for the past few months, William Wagner, aged 77, one of the pioneer residents of the county, was suddenly stricken with heart failure on Sunday and died in a few hours. Burial will take place on Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the Zimmer home at Francis Creek and at 3 o'clock from the Lutheran church at Valders, Rev. A.O. White officiating. Interment will be at Valders. For years the deceased was a resident of Valders and until the death of his wife six years ago, conducted a farm near the village. He sold the farm and since that time has been spending his time visiting his sons and daughters. Four sons, Gustave of Manitwooc, Fred of North Dakota, Louis of Kiel and Hubert of Manitowoc Rapids, and two daughters, Mrs. Amelia Dealy of Colorado and Mrs. George Zimmer of Francis Creek survive.
