JOHN J. TADDY cemetery #89D EX-OFFICER OF TWO RIVERS IS KILLED TODAY John Taddy, Oil Company Employe and Former Police Officer Dies in Crash on Highway 17 Highways of Manitowoc county claimed their fourth death victim in five days early this morning when John Taddy, 42, former Two Rivers police officer and at his death bulk station manager of the Deep Rock Oil company at its Two Rivers branch, was instantly killed one mile south of Two Rivers at about 2:30 o'clock this morning. Death was due to a fractured skull and broken neck which he sustained when his car rolled end over end and was completely demolished in the ditch at the side of the road. County authorities, reconstructing the accident shortly after its occurrence, believe that Taddy was returning to his home after collecting accounts for the company visiting friends and that he was traveling at a high rate of speed. Tracks along the sloping embankment bordering the concrete highway indicated that he had traveled a considerable distance in the ditch before striking a washout which catapulted the car and over end. Sheriff Herman Carstens said he believed that the car had rolled over at least twice. Flung from Car The sheriff arrived at the scene after 3 o'clock when indications showed that the body had lain there for some time, the tracks at the side of the road as well as the clothing of the victim being covered with the snow falling at the time. The body was about eight feet east and south of the car in the ditch while cushions of the Jewett closed car were still further to the north of the completely wrecked automobile. Authorities were notified of the accident by Harold Netting, this city, who arrived soon after it occurred. Tracks along the side of the road showed that Taddy on several occasions had nearly succeeded in bringing his car out of the deep rut on to the concrete and that the washout probably prevented his doing so. Had Been at Manitowoc Reports from Two Rivers stated that Taddy and several friends had been playing cards at the cottage of a brother of Taddy after the crash victim had been summoned to Manitowoc earlier in the evening. He left the group early in the morning and was alone in the car while driving back to his home. He was believed to be hurrying because of the hour and is thought to have misjudged the position of his front wheels to such an extent that he started driving along the shoulder. Brother Is Notified Soon after the accident the police at Two Rivers were infomed and notified Councilman Nic Taddy, a brother of the dead man. Dr. A.P. Zlainik of Two Rivers was summoned, and after the man was pronounced dead his body was brought to Two Rivers in the Beduhn and Goetz ambulance. Chief of Police Thad W. Logan, Two Rivers, with William Doolan, Two Rivers, district manager of the Deep Rock Oil company and Councilman Taddy completed the investigation this morning. At the county jail at Manitowoc, Mr. Doolan was given the pocket book which contained Mr. Taddy's collections during the day, amounting to $60.70. The wallet was taken from the body by Sheriff Herman Carstens, along with the bulk station keys. A note book which Mr. Taddy used on his route could not be located on the scene of the accident. Mr. Taddy had been in the employe of the Deep Rock Oil company for nearly five years and had built up a well established route. Mr. Taddy was born in the town of Two Rivers, October 23, 1890, and is a son of Mrs. Nic Taddy, pioneer resident of that city. For many years Mr. Taddy was engaged as a fisherman, following his boyhood days on the old homestead farm. Later he worked as a carpenter with his brother Nic Taddy and for a time was a patrolman on the Two Rivers police force. He was married to Barabra Perdzock at Oconto 15 years ago who survives him with a son, Claude, 13, and two daughters, Janette, 11, and Leonis, 11 years old.Mr. Taddy is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Nic Taddy, ???? ??? Rivers, eight sisters, Mrs. Julia Filliez, town of Two Rivers; Mrs. George LeClair, Mrs. Francis LeClair, Mrs. Charles Pasek, Mrs. Martin Gagnon, Mrs. Mark Gagnon, all of Two Rivers and Mrs. Frank Becker, Green Bay, and Mrs. Joseph Francis, of Sheboygan, and six brothers, Joseph, town of Two Rivers; Nic, Paul, William, George and Anton Taddy, all of Two Rivers. Burial on Monday Funeral services will be held from St. Luke's Catholic church at Two Rivers at nine o'clock Monday morning. It is thought that the six brothers of Mr. Taddy will act as pallbearers. Is Fourth Victim Taddy was the fourth person to die on highways in Manitowoc county since last Friday night. Charles Reed and Charles Bahr of Plymouth and Kiel respectively, were killed in an accident at Kiel Friday night and on Sunday night 13 year old Carol Kochan was struck down by a hit and run driver who fled from Francis Creek after the girl had sustained fatal injuries. To Hold No Inquest County officials said this morning that the death of Taddy was apparently an accident and that no inquest would be held. No other automobile was involved in the accident and officials are convinced from the track marks that the condition of the road's shoulder and possible high rate of speed contributed toward the accident. You have her death date and place, and her burial was at Evergreen Cemetery, (#44). Adolph Traicher and wife Barbara had a son, Samuel Taicher, born and died 11 Aug 1903 in Cooperstown, Manitowoc Co., WI. Unknown if he has a burial in the county. Adolph Taicher and wife Barbara: Son: Adolph Taicher born 11 June 1890 in Cooperstown, Manitowoc Co., WI; died 08 Nov 1962 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co., WI. You have his burial at Cemetery #36, Kossuth National. He never married. Son: Adolph Taicher: You have his info. His wife was Lucille “Lucy” Budweiser, daughter of Charles Budweiser and Wilhelmina "Minnie” Kotik (not Katyak), who was the only living child of Anton Kotick and Francisca Kaderaback (both of whom were born in Bohemia (Czech Republic). You have the obits for both Robert Taicher and Evelyn Taicher, listed as born in IL, parents Adolph Taicher and Lucy a/k/a Lucille Budweiser. This is private. These two children did not know that Adolph Taicher was not their father. Lucille “Lucy” Budweiser was previously married and divorced, and in 1920 she was living with her widowed grandfather, Anton Kotik, in Cooperstown, Manitowoc Co., WI. Wilhelmina “Minnie” Kotik born 16 June 1872 in Cooperstown, Manitowoc Co., WI; died 11 July 1903 in Manitowoc, Manitowoc Co., WI. She is buried at Cemetery #36, Kossuth National. Her surname was Kotik, not Katyk. I believe that Antone Kotik and Frank Katyk were brothers, and somewhere along the line the surnames changed. I hope that this straightens out the correct surname for Anton Kotik and daughter, Wilhelmina “Minnie” Kotik Budweiser. (Both obits and extra material from researcher/see contributors page)

ANNA FORD TAYLOR cemetery #89A From the Two Rivers Chronicle, Tuesday, November 20, 1900 Anna Ford was born 1829, February 14, in a farm home about nine miles from Montreal, in what is now the Province of Quebec, Canada. About 1850 the family - which was of Scotch-Irish origin - removed to Essex county, New York. There Miss Ford was married 1853, June 3rd, to George Taylor. They removed to Wisconsin in 1855, arriving at Two Rivers on the 15th of September. One child, William, was born in New York. Their second child, George, born 1856, March 14th, died September 14th of that same year. Other children are Margaret, now the wife of James Harvey Elliott, of Elderon, Wisconsin; John George, of Wittenberg; David of Glen Flora; Sarah, now the wife of Bert J. Roper, of Wittenberg; Joseph Samuel, of Elderon; Robert Henry and Benjamin Stewart, both of the town of Two Rivers. Mrs. Taylor was a woman whose character was marked by decision, energy and helpfulness. Her life was one of industry and service. Her home showed the oversight and laber of the good housekeeper. She shared with her neighbors the care of their sick and in such care for one of her own family she spent her own last days of strength. She was a warm-hearted friend, a faithful wife and self-sacrificing mother. From children she received in her last illness such care as she had often given. Undemonstrative in her religion, she yet showed in many ways her sincerity. "Life, we've been long together, Through pleasant and through cloudy weather 'Tis hard to part when friends are dear. Perhaps 'twill cost a sigh, a tear. Then steal away, give little warning, Choose thine own time; Say not good night, but in some happier clime Bid me good morning." WILHELM TECH cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 02 Oct. 1902: Last Sun. Wilhelm Tech, Sr., who lives at 1027 South 14th St., went to Two Rivers to visit the street carnival. He caught the last streetcar back to Manitowoc and got off at 13th St. However, he never reached home and remained missing despite all efforts to find him. It was feared he might have become confused upon leaving the streetcar, went in the wrong direction and fell into the river. This possibility was dismissed as unlikely because he was a long time resident and knew the streets. He has lived alone ever since his wife died 3 yrs. ago. ******* [cause: drowning]
