BERNARD ROEMER cemetery #47 From Der Nord Westen, 08 Dec. 1887: Death of 68-year old Bernard Roemer on Sun., 04 Dec. at 5pm in Manitowoc Rapids. The deceased was born 18 Nov. 1819 in Kröv, Bezirk Trier, Rheinpreussen. In 1847 he immigrated to America and lived three years in Philadelphia, coming to Wisconsin in 1850 and establishing himself in the following year in Manitowoc Rapids. He served 10 years as Town Clerk. His wife preceded him in death eight years ago. Five children (2 sons and 3 daughters) mourn his death. The funeral procession will take place Fri. morning at 9am in the Catholic Church in Manitowoc, and then burial in the Silver Lake Cemetery.

JACOB ROEMER cemetery #43 From Der Nord Westen, 20 Mar. 1902: Our well-known fellow citizen and prominent businessman, Mr. Jacob Roemer, closed his eyes Tues. in final sleep following an illness of about 2 wks. Mr. Roemer had fallen ill last autumn and was bed-ridden for quite a while but appeared to recover. He suffered a relapse about 2 wks. ago. He was born 26 Aug. 1839 in Croev, Rhineland, but came to Manitowoc as a child with his parents. Here he learned the tinsmith trade and in 1881 entered the metal ware business of E.K. Rand. The firm later incorporated under the name Rand & Roemer Hardware Co. where he served the last years as president. Mr. Roemer was twice married, his first wife having died 17 yrs. ago, while his second wife survives him. Also surviving are 7 children. The funeral will be held early tomorrow at 9 a.m. from the Catholic Church to the Catholic Cemetery.

JOHANN ROEMER cemetery #43 From Der Nord Westen, 10 Nov. 1892: Death on Sun. morning of 70 yr. old Johann Roemer, a resident of Two Rivers Road. The deceased was born in Cröff, Rhineland, and came to Manitowoc in 1847 where he has lived ever since. About a year and a half ago he suffered a stroke and has been bedridden up until his death. He leaves two grown children. The funeral took place Wed. at the Catholic Church.

Roemer died in his home here Friday evening from a heart attack. He had recently suffered a light stroke but was recovering… He leaves his wife and 6 children –2 sons and 4 daughters in good circumstances. He was 71. OSCAR ROEMER cemetery #43 From Der Nord Westen, 09 Apr. 1908: Last week we reported the death of a daughter of Fred Roemer here, and today we must report that his eldest son, 19-year old Oscar, has died of consumption with which he fell ill last Fall. In addition to the deeply sorrowing parents, he is survived by 6 brothers and a sister. The funeral was held yesterday morning at the Catholic cemetery.

HERMAN ROESELER cemetery #87 Herman Roeseler Of Town Eaton Is Summoned Today Kiel.— Herman Roeseler, aged 16, son of Mrs. Wilhelmina Roeseler of the town of Eaton, passed away at the home of his sister, Mrs. Armin Henning in the town of Greenbush this morning at 12:30 o’clock follow- ing a lingering illness. He was born in the town of Eaton in October, 1916, and attended the district school there. He was the son of the late Fred Roeseler who died fifteen years ago. Surviving him are his mother, Mrs. Wilhelmina Roeseler of the town of Eaton, and two sisters, Mrs. Edwin (Viola) Roesch of the town of Eaton and Mrs. Armin (Irma) Henning of the town of Greenbush, and one brother, Fred Roeseler, Jr., at home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at the home of his mother in the town of Eaton at 1 o’clock and at 1:30 p. m. at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran church at Louis Corners with the Rev. Harold 0. Grugrunwald officiating. Burial will be made in the adjoining cemetery.

WILHELMINE ROESLER cemetery #87 Mrs. Roessler Of Town Of Eaton Dies At Home Thursday Kiel. (Special) — Mrs. Wilhelmina Roessler, 60, died Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock at her farm home in the town of Eaton, Manitowoc county, after an illness of several months. She was born Sept. 15, 1879, in the town of Eaton, the daughter of Carl and Johanna Schnell. On Oct. 14, 1902, she was married to Frederick Roessler, and the couple lived in Kiel for a time, later moving to the present farm home. Her husband died 21 years ago. Survivors include two daughters and one son, Mrs. Edwin (Viola) Roesch, New Holstein, Mrs. Armin (Irma) Henning, Random Lake, and Frederick at home. There are three grandchildren. Four sisters, Mrs. August Rabe, Steinthal, Mrs. Jacob Reichart, Kiel, Mrs. John Rue, town of Schleswig, and Mrs. William Ott, Pigeon lake, and three brothers, Henry, Manitowoc, William, New Holstein, and Carl, near Manitowoc, also survive her. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p. m. at the C. J. Meiselwitz funeral home here, and at 2 o’clock at the Zion Lutheran church at Lewis Corners. The Rev. Harold 0. Grunwald will officiate and interment will be made in the adjoining church cemetery. The body may be viewed from Sunday afternoon until time of the services. The casket will not be opened at the church.

ARVIN W. ROETHEL Cemetery #84 The Sheboygan Press on Oct. 2, 1965. Arvin W. Roethel, 68, of R. 2 Kiel, died Friday at his trailer home at Millhome after being stricken with a heart attack. He was born Aug. 29, 1897 in the Town of Meeme, a son of the late Christian and Anna Ebeling Roethel . The family later moved to the Town of Schleswig where he attended district schools. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Roethel was employed by August Ehnert & Sons, Kiel, and by Eickhoss Feed Mill, Millhome, before his retirement in 1962. Surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Aledia Damrow, rural Cleveland; Mrs. Hilda Lipchow and Mrs. Minnie George, both of Milwaukee, Mrs. Erma Nennig and Mrs. Viola Rabe, both of Kiel; and a brother, Arno, Millhome. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, with the Rev. Vernon E. Jaberg, pastor, St. Peter's United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in the Schleswig Cemetery in Rockville. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday until the time of services.

CARL ROETHEL cemetery #87 Charles Roethel Dies at Age of 80 An invalid for some months, and rapidly weakening of the past two weeks, Charles Roethel died this Wednesday morning at his home here, a victim of the infirmities of old age. He would have been 80 years of age in August of this year. Mr. Roethel was born August 1, 1849 in Germantown, Washington county, Wis., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Roethel. He remained at the parental home until January 9, 1873, when he was united in marriage to Miss Ida Wickensberg of Ada. The newly married couple then moved to a farm in the town of Meeme, where Mrs. Roethel died January 1, 1902. For twelve years after the death of his wife, Mr. Roethel continued to manage the Meeme farm, when in 1914 he moved to Kiel, settling on the little farm on what is now Calumet avenue. The farm has been conducted by his son Herman for the past number of years. Seven children were born to the couple, three of whom survive. They are Herman Roethel, at Kiel, Mrs. Louise Marx of Sheboygan, and Mrs. Ferdinand Schneider of Ada. Ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren survive. Funeral services will be held at one p.m. Saturday at the home, and at 1:30 at the Lutheran church at Louis Corners, with interment in the adjoining cemetery. The Rev. L. B. Mielke of Millersville will conduct the services.

HERMAN ROETHEL cemetery #82 Rites Held Here Tuesday For Herman Roethel Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Herman Roethel, 74, who died at Memorial hospital Friday. He had been a patient at the hospital for about five weeks. The services were conducted by the Rev. E. L. Worthman and burial was made in the Kiel cemetery. Mr. Roethel was a member of the state legislature, representing Manitowoc county for two terms, from 1918 to 1920 and from 1926 to 1928. He also was a former fire chief in Kiel, and was a member of the county board for three years. Mr. Roethel was born January 3, 1882, in the town of Meeme, son of the late Carl and Ida Wickesburg Roethel. He received his early education in a district school and also attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where he took a short course in agriculture. He married the former Katherine Raquet at Zion Lutheran church November 7, 1905. They operated a farm for 10 years before moving to Kiel. While in the city, Mr. Roethel was employed for a period of time as a cattle shipper for the Kiel Mercantile association before establishing his own egg buying and selling business. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary November 5th of last year and more than 200 guests visited with them for the occasion at the Brooklyn hall. He is survived by his wife.

KATHERINE ROETHEL cemetery #82 Mrs. Herman Roethel Dies After Illness Mrs. Herman Roethel, 77, of this city died early Monday, after a long illness, at the St. Nicholas hospital in Sheboygan. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed church with Rev. Roland Kley officiating. Burial was made in the Kiel cemetery. The former Katherine Raquet, she was born Dec. 14, 1882, in the Town of Schleswig, a daughter of the late Frank and Anna Raquet. Her marriage to Mr. Roethel took place Nov. 7, 1905 at Zion Lutheran Church, Louis Corners. The couple lived on the Roethel home farm in the Town of Meeme for 10 years, then moved to Kiel. Mr. Roethel, who died in February, 1956, was a former state assemblyman, having served in the legislature for two terms (1918-20 and 1926-28). Mr. and Mrs. Roethel, who observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1955, had no children.

KUNIGUNDA ROHRER cemetery #43 From Der Nord Westen, 30 Dec. 1880: "A tragic death occurred Christmas Eve in Manitowoc in which the wife of Mr. John Rohr(sic) died during the delivery of their 13th child. Ten of the children, including the newborn, are still alive and Rohr himself has for years been ill and unemployed.

JOHANN ROHRER cemetery #43 From Der Nord Westen, 04 July 1889 On Sat. evening, Mr. John Rohr(sic), age 53, died after a six-week confinement.The deceased was a resident on City Line in Town Manitowoc, and had suffered many years with asthma. The primary cause of death, however, was dropsy. He leaves ten children, of which 3 are still quite young. His wife preceded him in death several years ago. His remains were interred in the Catholic Cemetery on Tues. morning.

ELAINE G. ROIDT Cemetery #43 Elaine G., 13 month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Roidt, 511 Buffalo street, died of pneumonia at the hospital Sunday afternoon. Funeral services will be held from the Wattawa Urbanek and Schlei funeral home Wednesday morning and 9 o'clock from the Sacred Heart church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. ERNA ROIDT cemetery #43 Mrs. Joseph Roidt, 77, who had resided with her daughter and son-in-law, died, Tuesday afternoon at Family Heritage Nursing Home, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 9.30 a.m. Friday at Lambert Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mishicot. The Rev. Earl Brouchoud will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Roidt, nee Erna Pavlet, was married to Joseph Roidt in 1924 at Kewaunee. She resided in Manitowoc most of her life. Following her husband's death in 1971, she moved to Mishicot. Survivors include a daughter, two sisters, Mrs. Anton (Elvina) Kostka, of Two Rivers and Mrs. George (Bessie) Picha Sr., of Rt. 1, Kewaunee and three grandchildren. JOSEPH ROIDT cemetery #43 Joseph N. Roidt, 70, of 1639 Holly Dr. Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon at home. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home and at 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Rev. James Craanen will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Roidt was born March 19, 1900 in the town of Franklin, Kewaunee County, son of the late John and Katherine Engeldinger Roidt He married Erna Pavlat July 19, 1924 at Casco. The couple came to Manitowoc to reside 45 years ago. Mr. Roidt had been employed as a custodian at Public Library for many years, retiring in 1966. Survivors include his wife, a daughter, and three grandchildren. Two sons, a daughter and a sister preceded him in death. JOSEPH ROITT cemetery #21 Funeral services for Joseph Roitt, 77, who passed away at his farm home, two and a half miles northeast of here on Monday, were held this Thursday morning at 9 a.m. at the farm home and at 10 o’clock at St. Gregory’s Catholic church at St. Nazianz with the Revs. Fintan Holzknecht of St. Nazianz and Joseph J. Esdepsky of this city officiating. Burial was made in the adjoining church cemetery. The deceased was born April 15, 1860 in the town of Schleswig, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Roitt. He was united in marriage to Mary Himmelsbach of St. Nazianz on July 28, 1891, and the couple resided near St. Nazianz for 21 years, after which they moved to their present home. Survivors are his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Arno Schneider of near School Hill, and two sons, George of Cedar Grove, and John at home; also three sisters and eight grandchildren. Two children preceded Mr. Roitt in death. MARIA ROITT cemetery #21 Mrs. M. Roitt Laid To Rest Mrs. Marie(sic) Roitt, aged 83, widow of the late Joseph Roitt, passed away at her farm home in the town of Schleswig on Thursday evening at 7 o'clock, very unexpectedly. The deceased, nee Marie Himmelsbach, was born April 1, 1857 in Germany. In 1875 she came to this country and settled in Wisconsin. She was married to Joseph Roitt in 1889, and the couple moved onto a farm in the town of Schleswig, where they resided for many years and then purchased their present farm home 2-1/2 miles northeast of Kiel. Her husband preceded her in death on August 2, 1937. Survivors are 2 sons and one daughter, namely: John on the homestead farm; George of Cedar Grove, and Mrs. Arno (Helen) Schneider of the town of Meeme, and ten grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Monday morning at 9 o'clock from the home and at 9:30 o'clock at the St. Gregory's church in St. Nazianz. ANNA MARIA ROLLINGER cemetery #89B From Der Nord Westen, 21 Mar. 1901: Death in Two Creeks last Thurs. of Mrs. Anna Marie Rollinger, widow of the late Peter Rollinger, of old age debility. The deceased was born in Leideling, Kingdom of Luxemburg, on 19 Dec. 1813 and came to America in 1856. Her funeral was held Sat. from the Catholic Church in Two Rivers.

MARY ROLLMANN cemetery #83 Mrs. Nicholas Rollmann, aged 62, passed away at her farm home one mile north of Rockville, on Tuesday morning. The deceased nee Miss Mary Wettstein, was the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Wettstein, Stockbridge, where she was born January 24, 1895. She was married to Nicholas Rollmann of Jericho and located in the town of Chilton. In 1911 they moved to the town of New Holstein, where they resided for two years. Two years ago the Rollmann family moved to their present farm home. Nine children were born to them of whom all are living. Surviving Mrs. Rollmann are her husband, five daughters and four sons, namely: Mrs. Frank (Mary) Leitner of Fond du Lac, Mrs. Chas. (Lena) Daun of Brothertown, Mrs. Arthur (Theresa) Evenson of Sheboygan, the Misses Olive and Appolonia at home Joseph and Alex at home, Peter of this city, and John of Fond du Lac. She is also survived by three brothers and thirteen grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 9:15 o’clock from the family residence, and at 10 o’clock with services at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic church here. The Rev. Father J. J. Esdepsky will officiate and burial will be made in the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic cemetery. (Note: The birth date doesn't match Mary's entry, but the age plus year of birth puts her birth year in 1873, not 1895. It looks like the newspaper has the wrong birth date, because this Mary is on the same stone with Nicholas who is her husband.)

ORA ROSE cemetery #83 Mrs. Ora Rose Is Buried Here Saturday Funeral services for Mrs. Ora Schubert Rose were held here Saturday afternoon from the Meiselwitz Funeral home. Mrs. Rose died at Milwaukee Wednesday evening. The Rev. E. L. Worthman was in charge of the services and burial was made in the Kiel cemetery. She was born January 5, 1891, in Kiel, the daughter of the late Fred and Emma Schubert. She attended Kiel schools, and December 9, 1930, was married to Vincent John Rose. Since their marriage they lived in Milwaukee, with the exception of one year in San Diego, California. He passed away February 14, 1949. Mrs. Rose was a charter member of the Kiel American Legion auxiliary. Suvivors include one daughter, two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. E. R. Hayner and Mrs. E. A. Paulsen, Kiel; two brothers, Raymond of Sheboygan and Rewald of Milwaukee. Her son-in-law, Gerald Hester, is with the U. S, army in the Philippine Islands. (no newspaper named, Nov. 5, 1952)

WALTER ROSE cemetery #82 Walter Rose, 23, 3rd Brother to Meet Death in Two Years Friends here received the shocking news Friday of the demise of Walter J. Rose, 23, of Chicago, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Rose of Grafton, and formerly residing on a farm in this vicinity, who was stabbed to death by his wife, aged 24, a dancer, after a family quarrel early Thursday night. The quarrel which ended with the fatal stabbing, done with the family butcher knife, began when the deceased arrived home, and accused his wife of being drunk. Mr Rose was born in Essen, Germany on November 5, 1911, and came to this country with his parents in 1926. They resided in Brillion for two years; at Kiel for five years, and the last two years at Grafton. Nine months ago Mr. Rose was married and since then has been living in Chicago where he was employed as a cook in a hotel. He also was employed as a cook in the Schroeder Hotel in Milwaukee for four years. Mrs. Rose was a tavern toe dancer. Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Rose of Grafton; one brother, Alfred, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Axnick and Mrs. Anna Lesnick, both of Milwaukee. Two years ago on July 23, two of Mr. Rose’s brothers, Helmuth and Edmund, met with an accidental death, having been drowned in the Sheboygan river, near here. The body arrived here on Friday and lay in state at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home until Sunday, when services were conducted both there and at the Kiel cemetery, where interment made - 1935

ELIZABETH ROSENBAUER cemetery #87 Mrs. Elizabeth Rosenbauer, 79, former Town of Schleswig resident, died early Saturday morning at the home of a son-in-law and daughter on Highway 42 in the Town of Meeme. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, the Rev. William Hartwig, Pastor of the Zion Lutheran Church, Louis Corners, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Rosenbauer was born in the Town of Rhine, Sheboygan County, on Feb. 13, 1875, daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Jacob Uhl. She was married to John Rosenabuer on April 18, 1896, and the couple operated a farm in Schleswig until Mr. Rosenbauer died in January of 1933. Since 1940 she had resided with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gosse. Survivors include a son, George of Chicago; seven daughters, Mrs. Hugo Kuester, Mrs. Arvin Kohl and Mrs. Nick Spannagel of Sheboygan, Mrs. Arthur Gosse of Meeme, Mrs. Arthur Arnold of Kiel, Mrs. Gustave Ehrlich of the Town of Mosel and Mrs. Herbert Griffith of Cleveland, Ohio; 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. JOHN ROSENBAUER cemetery #87 Manitowoc January 25, 1933 (edited) John Rosenbauer Dies At His Home Near Kiel John G. Rosenbauer, 66, town of Schleswig resident, died today at the farm home, two miles northeast of Kiel. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Zion Evangelical church at Louis Corners. The deceased was born in 1866 in Schleswig and took up farming. He was married in 1897 to Elizabeth Uhl and they took their residence up on the Rosenbauer homestead in Schleswig. Besides the widow, one son, and seven daughters, two brothers, and a sister, survive.

MARY ROSENBAUER cemetery #20 Mrs. Fred Rosenbauer Sr., 74, former county resident, died Friday at the home of her son in law and daughter, Mr.and Mrs. Armin Kreimann of New Holstein. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the St. Peter-Paul Evangelical and Reformed church, Kiel. The Rev. E. L. Worthman will officiate and burial will be in the Eaton cemetery. She was born Mary Stueven in New York in 1876 and was brought to Manitowoc county by her parents. In 1894 she was married to Mr. Rosenbauer and they located on a farm in Schleswig where they resided for 50 years. In 1944 the couple observed their golden wedding. Mr. Rosenbauer died in 1946 since which time Mrs. Rosenbauer resided at New Holstein. Survivors are five daughters, Mrs. Kreimann, Mrs. Edwin Quante, Mrs. Arthur Jochman and Mrs. Milton Brocker of New Holstein and Miss Mary Rosenbauer of Kiel; two sons, Werner of Osman and Fred Jr., of New Holstein; brother, Herman of Pymouth; two sisters, Mrs. Louis Matter of Milwaukee and Mrs. Edward Domke of Hilbert; 23 grandchildren, and 48 great grandchildren. Mr. Rosenfelder came to America in the early ‘50’s and was among the older settlers of Manitowoc. He married in 1854 and his wife and one grown son survive him. The funeral will take place Sat. afternoon.

GEORGE ROSENTHAL cemetery #82 After a lingering illness, with dropsy and liver trouble, for about three years, George Rosenthal passed away Sunday evening at his home on Fourth St. The deceased was born in the town of Herman Jan. 31, 1863. He was united in marriage Nov. 29, 1885 to Emma Lite. Of their five children, three died in infancy. The family resided, for 13 years, in Elkhart Lake, where he was engaged in the mason’s trade. They then moved to Kiel where Mr. Rosenthal operated a pop factory five years, after which he bought a farm in the town of Rhine, residing there until March 1915 when the family returned to Kiel. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Walter and Arthur; three brothers Henry of Wausau, Louis of Millhome and John of Kiel; and one sister Mrs. Fred Umsonst of the town of Schleswig. The funeral services were held Wednesday at 12:30, interment in the Kiel cemetery, Rev. (the rest missing)

Rosenthal, 80 years old, died unexpectedly at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Herzog, in the town of Schleswig Tuesday afternoon. He had been making his home with the Herzogs’ for the past 16 years. He operated a shoe repair business at Millhome and in 1920 moved to the present location where he resided with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Umsonst until 16 years ago. Mrs. Rosentreter, the former Florence Ristow, was born May 26, 1892, in the Town of Waupun, daughter of the late Edward and Augusta Opperman Ristow. She was educated in Omro schools and was married May 14, 19185, to Mr. Rosentreter at Oshkosh. The couple located at Manitowoc shortly thereafter when Mr Rosentreter joined the faculty of Lincoln High School. He died in 1949. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and its Lois and Missionary societies. Suriviors are two sons, two sisters, two brothers, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, with burial in the church cemetery. Mr. Rosik was born in Poland, and came to Wisconsin when a boy. He engaged in farming at Tisch Mills and near by places before retiring 21 years ago and moving to this city. Fifty seven years ago he married Miss Mary Laskowsky. Survivors are his wife, two daughters, four sons, 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body will be moved to the Rosik home from the Leschke funeral home at 1 p.m. Friday. Rosik June 8, 1921, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, The couple resided at Manitowoc all their married lives. Her husband preceded her in death Feb. 15, 1969. Mrs. Rosik was a member of the St. Ann Altar Society of St. Boniface Church, an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and was named auxiliary's "Mother of the Year" in 1969 and 1970. Her favorite work was with the Eagles Child Welfare Committee. Survivors include two sons and four daughters. EDWARD ROSINSKY cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 15 June 1899: Death Sun. morning after a long illness of Eduard Rozinsky, the 19-yr. old son of Hermann Rozinsky. The deceased, who was born 25 Jan. 1888 here, succumbed to consumption. He wanted to enter the ministry and was a student at the Lutheran Seminary in Watertown, but he had to give up his studies as his deadly disease increased. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at the city cemetery.

EMIL ROSINSKY cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 18 July 1907: Emil Rosinsky, about whose illness we recently reported, died from it Sunday. It had been believed that he was suffering from appendicitis, but an operation established that that was not the case. Mr. Rosinsky, who operated the former Voigt Furniture Store next to the 8th Street bridge, reached the age of 30. His widow as well as his mother, one brother and one sister mourn his early death. The funeral was held yesterday from the Lutheran Church.

She was a member of Melnik Presbyterian Church, Beta Theda Sorority local chapter, Manitowoc Senior Center and participated in volunteer work for almost 30 years at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, one daughter and son-in-law, five grandchildren, one great grandchild, one brother and sister-in-law, along with nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene L. Rosinsky in 1987 and one brother, David Novak in 2000. HERMAN ROSINSKY cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 03 Dec. 1903: Sudden death Thurs. evening last week of Hermann Rozsinsky, the well-known furniture merchant. Mr. Rozsinsky felt perfectly well all day and that evening attended the Thanksgiving service at the Lutheran Church. He had just started singing when he sank back into his seat. Naturally the service was interrupted and nearby Dr. Luhmann summoned. He could only report that the ill man had been stricken with a heart attack and that he was probably in his last moments. Death followed shortly. His body was taken by ambulance to the family residence on Buffalo Street. Mr. Rozsinsky was born 07 Oct. 1852 in Grabow, Pomerania, and came to Manitowoc as a 15-yr. old with his parents and has lived here ever since. Many years he worked in the establishment of W. Rahr Sons Company here, then several years ago bought the furniture store of Anton Vogt, which he operated with his sons. About 5 yrs. ago he became seriously ill, and it is now thought that heart trouble may have begun during that illness. Since then he has felt fine except for a cold a few weeks ago. His sudden death was entirely unanticipated and came as a terrible blow to his family. The deceased is survived by his father, his widow and 3 children. His funeral was held from the Lutheran Church Sun. afternoon among a large number of mourners.

He died Thursday, June 28, after suffering ten days of spinal meningitis. He was buried Thursday evening at 8 o'clock in St. Gregory's church cemetery, the Rev. Fintan Holzknecht officiating. He felt perfectly well when he went to bed Friday evening, but a heart attack during the night ended his life. The deceased was 83 years old but had been in sound health. He came to Manitowoc County in 1853 and has lived here ever since. He leaves a sorrowing widow and 6 children. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ross were held at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, (TODAY) Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Keith Haag officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Vernetta was born May 20, 1922, in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. Her parents were the late Bruno and Clara Cerrull Daetz. She graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers in 1940. She was employed at the Manitowoc Clinic as a receptionist for many years, retiring in 1984. On April 17, 1943, she married LaVern H. Ross at Two Rivers, Wisconsin. She was a member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband LaVern; four children, two brothers, also eight grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister. The visitation for Mrs. Ross was held TODAY at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Memorials in Vanetta's name would be appreciated to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society. ADELE MARION ROTH cemetery #82 Mrs. Herbert B. Roth, 33 Relatives and friends were shocked Sunday morning to learn of the death of Mrs. Herbert B.Roth, aged 33, who passed away Saturday evening in the state of Georgia. Mrs. Roth, the former Adele Marion Mathes, daughter of the late Dr. George Mathes and Jessie Krieger, was born in this city on July 19, 1910, and attended the local schools, and was graduated from the Kiel high school with the class of 1928. In 1932 she graduated from Milwaukee-Downer. For a period of seven years she taught at the Industrial School for Girls at Milwaukee. On June 24, 1939, she was married to Herbert B. Roth of Milwaukee, and they located in Atlanta, Georgia, where Mr. Roth was associated with an insurance company. Survivors are her husband; two children, Herbert, Jr., two and a half years old, and George Frederick, aged 10 months; a brother, Philip Mathes of Chilton. The body arrived in Kiel Monday evening and funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bailey of the First Unitarian Church of Milwaukee officiating. Burial was made in the family lot, in the Kiel cemetery. Her father passed away February 18, 1942, and her preceded her in death on January 15, 1940. - June 3, 1944

GEORGE ROTHMANN cemetery #82 Hold Services on Monday for G. Rothmann Death Occurred Thursday Following Period of Illness Death claimed George Rothmann, aged 65, at his home at 815 Seventh street, on Thursday morning at 10:45 o'clock, after a brief illness with heart disease. The cause of his death was a stroke of apoplexy. The deceased, a son of the late William and Amelia Rothmann, nee Hackenschmdt, was born in Garnet, Wisconsin, Fond du Lac county on June 3, 1865, where he had grown to manhood. At the age of 19 years he learned the blacksmith trade at the F.O. Horneck blacksmith shop in the town of Rhine, where he remained for 7 years. On September 27, 1891, he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Dexheimer of the town of Rhine. Immediately after their marriage they located in Kiel, where Mr. Rothmann opened a blacksmith shop of his own on Fremont street, and two years later he erected a new blacksmith shop on the site of the present Stoll and Boeselager Co. garage, and he conducted the trade until 1912, when he sold it to J.G.W. Loos. Mr. Rothmann, then had a residence erected on Seventh street, where they have since resided. For the past several years he has been in the employ of the Stoelting Brothers Co. No children were born to them. He is survived by his wife, and two brothers, Edward of Garnet, and Philip of Exeland. Two sisters preceded him in death: Mrs. Jacob Reiss of Garnet, who died in April 16, 1893, and Mrs. Nicholas Balz of Kiel, who died July 8, 1929. Several sisters and brothers who also died in their youth. He was a member of the Kiel Red Men lodge, and a member of the Kiel Fire Department, which organizations will attend the funeral in a body. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the residence. The Rev. E.L. Worthman, pastor of the St. Peter Reformed church officiated at the last rites. Interment was in the Kiel cemetery in the family lot. BEATRICE ROTTER cemetery #44 "Beatrice F. Rotter, a resident of River Wood Estates, Manitowoc, entered into eternal life on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers. Beatrice was born on April 10, 1916, in Marinette to the late Isadore and Dora Stein Solomon. She grew up and was educated in Racine. Beatrice was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed spending her time reading and collecting antiques. (Survivors omitted for privacy) Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters: Grace Daneman, Evelyn Gordon, and Ruth Shrago. It was Beatrice's request to be cremated without any visitation or memorial services. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with arrangements. PETER ROULLIER Cemetery #63 The Two Rivers Reporter (edited), August 36, 1937 Mishicot Man dies after a long illness -------------- Peter Roullier, Father of City Resident, Dies at Hospital Here -------------- Peter Roullier, 67, lifelong resident of Mishicot, died yesterday afternoon at the Two Rivers Municipal hospital. Death was due to a complication of disease. Roullier was born in Mishicot on October 19, 1870 and spent his entire life in that village. He was employed as a field man for Lakeside Packing company for many years up until his retirement five years ago. He was prominent in community affairs at Mishicot for many years, being a charter member of the Mishicot State Bank and serving as a director for many years. Thirty-seven years ago he was married to Miss Louise Larson, who, with one daughter of this city survives him. Five sisters and one brother also survive. There is one grandchild. The body was taken to the Specht Funeral Home at Mishicot where it may be viewed. Funeral services will be held from Holy Cross church at Mishicot at 9 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Pritzel will officiate at the services and burial will be in the Mishicot cemetery.

SAMUEL ROULLIER cemetery #63 From Der Nord Westen, 16 Apr. 1908: (From the correspondent in Mishicott, 14 Apr.) Old Mr. Rouiller, about whose illness we wrote recently, has died. Mr. Rouiller lived for many years on a farm in East Gibson and for 25 years was the postmaster there. About 8 years ago he bought a farm and moved to our village where he and his family lived in retirement. He is survived by his wife, by an elderly sister who lived with them, and by 10 grown children, all in good circumstances. The funeral was held Thursday morning at 10 a.m. from the Catholic Church.

ROZUM OF GIBSON AT 96 Resident of County 92 years Taken Monday; Rites on Thursday Mrs. Anna Rozum, 96, pioneer county resident, died last evening at the homestead farm in the town of Gibson, now operated by her son, Anton Rozum. She was born in Bohemia on Oct. 18, 1849, and came to the United States with her parents when she was four years old, and immediately the family settled in this county. Nee Anna Mosterske, she was united in marriage with John Rozum on Oct. 10, 1867. Her husband preceded her in death 15 years ago. The funeral will be Thursday morning, 9:30 from the home of the son, and at 10 o'clock from St. Ann's Catholic church, Francis Creek, with interment in Evergreen cemetery there. The Rev. Joseph Rauch will officiate. The body will be removed to the farm home from the Urbanek and Schlei funeral parlors at Manitowoc at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning. Survivors include the son; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph Zeman of Milwaukee; a stepsister, Mrs. Antonia Stueber of Peshtigo; 13 grandchildren; 23 great granchildren and seven great great grandchildren.

STELLA ROZUMALSKI Cemetery #43a From the Two Rivers Reporter, March 30, 1953 Rozumalski Mrs. Stella Rozumalski, 76, 1333 S. 20th St., Manitowoc, died Sunday morning at Holy Family Hospital following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. John Landowski will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Rozumalski, the former Stella Krolikowski, was born in November, 1876, in Milwaukee. She moved to Manitowoc 30 years ago. In 1919 she was married to John Rozumalski who died in 1934. Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Rozumalski had lived with her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Borusky. She was a member of the Holy Rosary and Altar Society of St. Mary Catholic Church and also a Gold Star Mother. Survivors include seven daughters, four sons, one sister, Sister Mary M. Sabina of Elm Grove; 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A son, Frank, was killed in action June 11, 1945. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Monday. The rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Gold Star Mothers will conduct a short graveside ceremony.
