ANNA NEUBAUER (d. 1910) cemetery #44 MRS. G. NEUBAUER DIED YESTERDAY Yesterday occurred the death of the Mrs. Gust Neubauer, 1618 South Tenth street. Deceased was a sufferer from consumption and was for the past three months unable to be about. For six weeks during her illness, deceased was at the Wales sanitarium, but failed to find a cure for her illness there. She went to Wales on the 8th day of last October. Mrs. Neubauer’s maiden name was Anna Bull and she was born in Town of Rapids, Jan. 22, 1871 and was therefore one day over 39 years of age. On Nov. 14, 1891 she was married to Gust Neubauer to whom she bore two children, both boys, Royal, aged 9 years and Reinie aged 14. Her husband, her father and two sisters are the other surviving relatives. The sisters are Mrs. Holst of Chicago and Mrs. Goethki, of Town Liberty this county. Mrs. Neubauer was a prominent member of the Lutheran church and of the Lutheran church society and leaves a host of friends in the city to mourn her departure. ANNA NEUBAUER (d. 1930) cemetery #44 Mrs. Anna Neubauer Passes Away Today At Home on S. 18th Street After a two weeks illness, Mrs. Anna Neubauer, widow of the late Gust Neubauer, who passed away here six months ago, died this morning at the family home, 1133 South Eighteenth street. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 from the home and at two o'clock from the St. John's church, with interment at Evergreen cemetery. The deceased was 58 years of age having been born at Tigerton in 1872. She removed here to reside twelve years ago. She was a member of the Ladies Aid Society of the St. John's church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Edward Klusmeyer of this city, a son, Roy Neubauer of Buffalo, New York, two sisters, Mrs. Augusta Kerne and Mrs. Paul Hahn of Tigerton and two brothers, Julius Schlender of Tigerton and Rudolph of Marion, Wis. ELLEONORA H. NEUBAUER cemetery #44 Mrs. Elleonora H. Neubauer, 82, of 818A S. 19th St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. N.W. Kock will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Neubauer, nee Elleonora Haese, was born Feb. 18, 1889, in the Town of Morrison, Brown County, daughter of the late August and Mathilda Olp Haese. On June 16, 1912, she was married to Henry Wordell at Reedsville. He died Dec. 17, 1942. On July 7, 1960, she was married to Albert Neubauer at Manitowoc and he preceded her in death April 4, 1965. She was a member of the Ladies Aid of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church and of the Golden Agers. Survivors include a son, Rober Wordell, of Rt. 1, Mishicot; a daughter, Mrs. Ross (Erna) Knorr of Manitowoc; a step-son, Kenneth Neubauer of Ducator, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Schuette of Manitowoc, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Six sisters and three brothers preceded Mrs. Neubauer in death. EVA NEUBAUER cemetery #44 Mrs. Michael Neubauer, a well known resident of the South Side, died Tuesday at her home 1117 South 10th street, aged 73 years. She was at one time a resident of Reedsville and had lived in the county for 27 years. She is survived by her husband and two sons, Albert and Gustave, both of this city. Tenth street, Mrs. Newubauer had been a sufferer from a chronic ailment for some time but it was not until Sunday that her condition became alarming and death followed quickly. Mrs. Neubauer was born in Germany 73 years ago and was married there, coming to America with her husband and locating at Reedsville, and later removing to this city. Mrs. Neubauer had resided in the county 27 years and was well known to many friends. A husband and two sons, Albert and Gustave, both of this city, survive. THEODORE P. NEUENBERGER cemetery #89B Theodore "Ted" Neuenberger, age 101, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, formerly of 1629 25th St., Two Rivers, passed on to eternal life on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2007. Ted was born on Aug. 8, 1906, in Two Rivers, a son of the late Theodore F. and Mary (Christoffel) Neuenberger. He married his dear, Marie Frasch, on Aug. 25, 1947, in Appleton. She preceded him in death on July 25, 2005. Ted served three years in the U.S. Army, and worked 31 years with the U.S. Postal Service in Two Rivers, retiring as postal supervisor. He was a longtime member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, presently St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Parish. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother: Greg; and a sister: Helen. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. William G. O'Brien, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Two Rivers. Military Rites will be accorded at the church immediately following the funeral Mass. ARTHUR NEUENFELDT cemetery #44 Arthur A. Neuenfeldt Sr., 66, of Rt. 1, Manitowoc, died Wednesday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. He married Velma Pierce in 1925, at Manitowoc. He was a Manitowoc resident all his life. Prior to his retirement in 1972, he had been employed as a burner at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., for 30 years. He was a member of the Boilermakers Union Local No. 443. EDNA NEUENFELDT Mrs. Edna (Ida) Neuenfeldt, 72, who resided with a son-in-law and daughter, Mrs. and Mrs. Glenn Daugs, of 1212 Madison St., Manitowoc, died Friday noon at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Glenn Unke will officiate and burial will be in Kossuth Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Neuenfeldt, nee Edna Rahn, was born Feb. 17, 1900, at Two Rivers, daughter of the late Henry and Emma Stueck Rahn. She was married to Alfred Buhk in 1925. Mr. Buhk preceded her in death in 1952. She then was married to Joe Mahlik and he also preceded her in death. She then was married to Arthur Neuenfeldt. Survivors include two sons, Melvin Buhk, of Mantiowoc and Donald Buhk, of Two Rivers; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Eunice) Pierce and Mrs. Glenn (Shirley) Daugs, of Manitowoc; a brother, Henry, of Rt. 2, Manitowoc; three sisters, Mrs. Meta Aschenbrenner and Mrs. Gordon Zelle, of Manitowoc, and Mrs. Frances Miller, of Rt. 2, Manitowoc; 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. ALBERT NEUHAUS cemetery #44 Albert Neuhaus (photo) of 1306 Madison St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly of a heart attack while at work Monday morning at Shady Lane Home. The caretaker was 77. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Reformed Church, Manitowoc, with the Rev. Theodore Crusius officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Neuhaus was born Feb. 9, 1881, at Elkhart Lake, Wis., son of the late Jacob and Sophie Nagel Neuhaus. He married Clara Grosshuesch Oct. 24, 1907, and the couple farmed 10 years before coming to Manitowoc. He had been employed 35 years in the rolling mills of Mirro Aluminum Co. until retirement. The couple observed the 50th anniversary of its wedding in 1957. Mr. Neuhaus had been a treasurer of the Brotherhood of First Reformed Church. Surviving are his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Roy Shekoski of Milwaukee, Mrs. Orville Schroer of Peoria, Ill., and Mrs. Henry Struck and Mrs. Robert Utecht of Manitowoc; four sisters, Mrs. Liddie Martin, Mrs. Willis Beernick and Mrs. Paul Bischoff of Sheboygan and Mrs. Hilda Runge of Manitowoc; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A brother and a sister preceded him in death. HENRY NEUHAUS cemetery #56 Retired Town Of Herman Farmer Dies Tuesday Evening Henry Neuhaus, 84, retired farmer, died Tuesday evening at 8:15 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edward Hameister, in the Town of Herman, death following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon from the home and at 2 o’clock from the Bethel Reform church in the Town of Herman. Burial will be made in the church cemetery. The body will be brought to the home Thursday. Mr. Neuhaus, who retired from active farming when his daughter and son-in-law took over his homestead in 1922, was born in the town of Newton Jan 5, 1851. He was married May 2, 1878 to Elizabeth Spindler, who survives him. The couple settled on the homestead where Mr. Neuhaus died. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1928. Survivors besides the widow include five daughters, Mrs. Carl Westpfahl, near Sheboygan; Mrs. Oscar Huber, Town of Meeme; Mrs. Valentine Hameister, near Ada; Mrs. Edward Hameister, Town of Herman; and Mrs. William Reinecking, Town of Herman; two sons, William of Augusta and Albert, Town of Herman; a brother, Gerhardt of Colby; 43 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. OSCAR NEUHAUS cemetery #56 Oscar H. Neuhaus, 75, of 1314 n. 7th St., a former Town of Rhine resident and insurance agent, died Tuesday at his home. In January of 1931 he became director of the Town of Herman Fire and Tornado Insurance Co., presently known as the Franklin Mutral Insurance Co. He served as treasurer of the firm for many years and was an agent for Franklin and also Heritage Mutual Insurance Co. until 1973 when he sold his agency. Born March 24, 1899 in the Town of Rhine, he was a son of the late William and Anna Spindler Neuhaus. He attended district school. On Sept. 11, 1928 he married Anna Huber of the town of Meeme. The couple settled on the homestead farm in Rhine. He was a lifelong member of Bethel United Church of Christ, Town of Herman, and served two terms as an elder of the church. Only immediate survivor is his widow. A brother and two sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Bethel UCC, the Rev. Donald B. King, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, from 4 p.m. Thursday until 11 a.m. Friday and at the church from noon until the time of the service. ALBERT W. NEUMAN cemetery #44 Albert W. Neuman, 70, 2414A Wollmer St., Manitowoc, died Friday morning at the Holy Family Hospital after five months illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home in Manitowoc. The Rev. Armin Roeckle will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Neuman was born in October, 1882, in Bonduel, Wis. In May, 1906, he married Miss Martha Weber at Gillett. He and his wife lived for a time in Green Valley and Green Bay before coming to Manitowoc in 1927. Mr. Neumann was employed as a bridge-carpenter for the Chicago and North Western Railroad until he retired five years ago. He was a member of the Railway Maintenance Employes Union. Survivors include his widow; four daughters, Agnes, Mrs. Earl Luiser, Mrs. William Kirkoff, all of Manitowoc, and Mrs. Gordon Ziarnik of West Allis; and two grandchildren. KATHERINE NEUMAN cemetery #84 Mrs. John Neumann Funeral services for the late Mrs. John Neumann of South Milwaukee, who died on Monday evening of a stroke of apoplexy will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 1:30 at the residence of Harry Klemme in this city, with burial at Rockville. Mrs. Neumann, nee Katie Pickruhn was born in the town of Schleswig, May 29, 1871. In 1906 she married Mr. Neumann and the couple moved to South Milwaukee. She is survived by her husband and one daughter, Anita, and the following sisters and brothers: her twin sister, Mrs. Hry. Schilling, Mrs. Ed. Salzmann and Mrs. Alfred Voland, of Schleswig, Mrs. Minnie Knuth of Milwaukee, and Mrs. H. Widder of Sheboygan; Herman Pickruhn of Manitowoc, Carl of Greenwood and Theo. of Plymouth. ADOLPH NEUMANN cemetery #81 Adolph O. Neumann, 74,of R. 1, Kiel, a retired Town of Schleswig farmer, died early Sunday at his home. He was born July 11, 1902 in the Town of Schleswig, a son of William and Anna Mauer Neumann. He attended the district school. He and a brother, Oscar, operated the Neumann home farm until their retirement. Mr. Neumann was a life member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Town of Schleswig. He was a past director of the Bethlehem UCC Cemetery Association, a Manitowoc County deputy sheriff for 19 years and town constable for 20 years. He also was a member of the Kiel Fish & Game Association. Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. William Happel, Mrs. Erna Jung and Mrs. William Diefenthaler, all of Kiel and Mrs. Edwin Meinnert, Sheboygan, and the brother, Oscar, R. 1, Kiel. A brother preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Bethlehem UCC. Dr. Reinhardt Ulrich, interim pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. AGNES NEUMANN cemetery #82 Rites Held Monday For Mrs. A. Neumann One of the oldest residents of Kiel died at her home Saturday. She was Mrs. Agnes Neumann, 89. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Meiselwitz Funeral home, with the Rev. E. L. Worthman in charge. She was born in Kaltwasser, Germany, February 6, 1864, and came to Kiel with her parents while still a child. In 1884 she was married to August F. Neumann, pioneer carpenter and contractor in Kiel. She was a charter member of the Kiel Frauenverein which was founded in 1900. She was also a member of the Chilton chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Helmuth Arps of Chilton; one son, Hugo Neumann of this city; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Keppler of Wild Rose, Mrs. Helen Krueger of Sheboygan. Burial was in the Kiel cemetery. Pall bearers were Oscar P. Armold, C. L. Davenport, Arthur Graef, Herbert Hennings, Louis Meyer, and Allan Schmidt.


ANNA NEUMANN cemetery #81 Mrs. William Neumann, aged 74, passed away at her home in the town of Schleswig at 2:45 a.m. Monday, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Neumann, nee Anna Maurer, was born June 3, 1868, in Canton Surich, Switzerland, the daughter of John and Mrgaret Kloeta-Maurer. She came to this country on April 23, 1893, to Chilton, and was married to William Neumann on March 10, 1806(sic) and the couple located on a farm in the town of Schleswig. Since 1902 she has resided on the present farm home. Her husband passed away May 29, 1936. Survivors are four daughters and three sons, namely: Mrs. William (Louise) Happel of the town of Schleswig, Mrs. Edwin (Martha) Meinert of Franklin, Mrs. Walter (Erna) Jung of the town of Rhine, Mrs. William (Edna) Diefenthaler of this city, Rudolph of the town of Rhine, and Oscar and Adolph of the town of Schleswig; four grandchildren. Funeral services were held this Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, and at 2 o'clock at the Bethlehem Evangelical and Reformed church in the town of Schleswig, with the Rev. AUGUST NEUMANN cemetery #89A OLD RESIDENT ANSWERS FINAL SUMMONS August Neumann aged ninety one years passed to his reward Wednesday at Sheboygan, Wis. He died at the home of his son, Henry with whom he resided since leaving here last July. Deceased had been a resident of this city since he came to this country from Germany, his native land, in 1867. His wife died forty-three years ago and he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Henry Mandel and when she passed away he continued to reside with his son-in-law several years until lately. Mr. Neumann, who for many years followed the occupation of farmer, was a devout Christian man and was always actively identified with the Evangelical church from which the funeral will be held today at 1:30. Neumann, aged 81, well-known retired carpenter-contractor, passed away at his home at 1035 North 6th Street on Thursday night at 9:30 o’clock, after a lingering illness. The deceased was born in Germany, May 8, 1858. At the age of 15 years he learned the carpenter’s trade in Berlin and then went from city to city working at his trade. He arrived in New York in 1879, and after working on a farm there he came to Sheboygan County in 1892. He was employed by the late Frederick Griebenow for six years and was a carpenter contractor for 45 years until his retirement in 1932, when he turned over the business to his son, Hugo. He constructed many residences and other buildings in this city, New Holstein, and nearby communities. He was married to Miss Agnes Jochmann, also a native of Germany, on February 14, 1884, near Steinthal, in the town of Schleswig, by the late Rev. Ludwig Zenk. The family resided for 2 years in the Kretsch building, for 20 years in the Vollstedt building, for 25 years at the corner of 7th and St. Paul Streets, the home now owned by his son, Hugo, and nine years ago he erected the present residence. Mr. Neumann was a charter member of the Kiel Maennerchor, organized in 1885, and also of the Kiel Fire Department. Survivors are his wife; two sons, Walter F. Neumann, an architect living in Nashotah, and Hugo of this city; one daughter, Mrs. H. F. (Elsie) Arps of Chilton; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Fritsche of Milwaukee. One daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Elda) Howels, died in 1925. On February 14, 1934, the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Sunday at the family residence, with burial in the city cemetery. The Rev. BARBARA NEUMANN cemetery #89B Mrs. Barbara Neumann, 92, of Rt. 1, Two Rivers, a lifelong resident of Two Rivers, died early Tuesday morning at the home of a son, John, where she had been convalescing from a hip injury received three months previous. Mrs. Neumann, nee Barbara Christoffel, was born at Two Rivers Aug 16, 1870, daughter of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth Gluckstein Christoffel. She was married May 12, 1891, to John Neumann, who died in 1938. She had been residing for years prior to her illness with a daughter, Mrs. Rufus Burbey, in the Town of Two Rivers. She was a charter member of St. Luke Altar Society. She is survived by two other daughters, Sister M. Clarentine, of Elmhurst, Ill., and Mrs. Louis Kumbalek, of Two Rivers,; five sons, Bernard J., John Jr., Leo, Paul and Louis, of Two Rivers; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Moseler, of Manitowoc and Mrs. Joseph Doncheck, of Two Rivers; a brother, Henry Christoffel, of Two Rivers; 23 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren. EARL NEUMANN cemetery #61 Earl Neumann, 87, formerly of Newton passed away Friday, November 24, 2006, at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home. Earl was born November 7, 1919 in Sheboygan to the late Albert and Elsie (Muetzelberg) Neumann. He attended grade school in Spring Valley and attended Central High School in Sheboygan. While in high school he lived with relatives, which enabled him to attend. On September 5, 1942, he married Helen B. Bohlman at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Howards Grove. Together the couple farmed on the family farm in the town of Meeme until their retirement in 1981. Helen preceded him in death on December 5, 1996. In that year, Earl found a special relationship with Jesus Christ. He was a member of St. James United Church of Christ in Spring Valley. Earl was involved with Lake to Lake Dairy, the Farm Bureau, DHIA, and for a number of years, he sold Behlen corn cribs and grain bins. In his retirement he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and telling jokes. Surviving him are three daughters, a son (Survivors omitted for privacy.), eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, a sister Marie Schmidt, a brother-in-law Ronald (Joyce) Bohlman of Town Mosel; two sisters-in-law; Irene Schmidt and Marion Hoard, both of Town Mosel. Also surviving are nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by one granddaughter. A Funeral Service for Earl will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at 2:00 P.M. at St. James United Church of Christ, Spring Valley, with the Reverend William Kesting, Pastor, officiating. EDNA NEUMANN cemetery #90 Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon for Miss Edna Neumann, 74, a former Ada resident, who died here early Tuesday at her home, 2010 N. 20th St. The Rev. Edmund Hennig, pastor, will officiate at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Schwartzwald. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Miss Neumann’s death followed a short illness. She was born in Sheboygan Jan. 31, 1890, the daughter of Albert and Louisa Borngesser Neumann. When she was a year old she moved with her parents to a farm at Ada and lived there until 1952. Following her mothers’ death, she and her father moved to Sheboygan. Her father died in 1963. Miss Neumann was a lifelong member of St. John’s UCC at Schwartzwald, was organist at the church from 1919 to 1949 and served as choir director for many years. SIEVERT 1st husband NEUMANN 2nd husband cemetery #85 Mrs. George Neumann Dies After Operation Following a goiter operation at a Sheboygan hospital Friday, Mrs. Emma Neumann, nee Rades, died Saturday, at the age of 37 years and ten months. The deceased was born September 22, 1889, in the town of Schleswig. At the age of twelve, when her mother died, she began to keep house for her father, fulfilling her duties faithfully until 1907, when she married Edgar Sievert. The couple lived on the Ludwig Sievert farm in Schleswig, and later moved to Kiel, where they lived with Mr. Sievert’s parents. Her husband died June 27, 1919. Her father had passed away four weeks previous to her husband’s death. For 18 months, she was employed as a clerk in the Kiel Mercantile store, resigning in December, 1924, when she took a several months’ trip to California. She returned in February, 1925, and in April of that year was married to George W. Neumann, town of Rhine. She is survived, besides her husband, by one brother, William Rades, Eaton; three sisters, Mrs. Mich. Grasser, Marinette; Mrs. William Paul of near School Hill, and Mrs. Carl Koeser, near Plymouth; Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Sievert, parents of her first husband; an uncle, Frank Rades, near School Hill, and an aunt, Mrs. Henry Peters, of Black Creek. She is mourned for by numerous relatives and friends. Among her many friends, Mrs. Neumann was highly thought of for her happy disposition, and her readiness in helping others. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Rhine Zoar Reformed church, with burial in the Ucker Road cemetery. (She is buried with 1st husband Edgar Sievert)


FREDA M. NEUMANN cemetery #82 Freda Neumann, 92, formerly of Kiel, died Thursday, March 17, 1994 at Willowdale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein. She resided there for the past five years. She is the former Freda Meili, born May 22, 1901 in Switzerland, a daughter of the late Otto and Emma Wismer Meili. She came to the United States with her parents in 1905, settling in New Holstein. She was a graduate of New Holstein High School and Milwaukee Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing. On Aug. 25, 1923 she married Hugo Neumann in New Holstein. Her husband Hugo preceded her in death on May 20, 1968. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Kiel, the Kiel American Legion Auxiliary/Kasper-Beckley-Wilkens Unit 99, a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star #281 in Kiel, and the Kiel Historical Society. Survivors include one son (private); one granddaughter (private); one grandson, (private); two great grandchildren, (private). She is further survived by one brother, Otto Meili, New Holstein, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Richard, one sister and one brother. IDA H. NEUMANN cemetery #81 Ida Neumann, 98, formerly of the town of Schleswig, died Tuesday evening, April 10, 2001, at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein where she was a resident the past year. She is the former Ida Hansmann, born Aug. 23, 1902 in the town of Schleswig, the daughter of Christ and Helena Voss Hansmann. On Nov. 22, 1932 she married Oscar Neumann in Waukegan, Ill. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1982. Oscar preceded her in death on Nov 10, 1994. The couple farmed in the town of Schleswig until their retirement in 1963. Ida was a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ and a former member of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed playing the piano and accordion. Survivors include one sister-in-law, (private) of Plymouth and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Hugo, Arno, Walter, Arvin and Theodore. JOHN NEUMANN cemetery #89B John Neumann, Sr., 72, who had been in ill health for 15 months, died at his home, 2118 10th street, Two Rivers, late Saturday morning. Mr. Neumann had been a resident of Two Rivers for more than half a century. He was employed in the old chair factory and in later years worked at Hamilton's and the Aluminum Goods. During the ten years previous to his stroke he had been employed as janitor at St. Mark's parish. Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning, at 8:30 o'clock from the Beduhn funeral home and at 9 o'clock from St. Mark's Catholic church. The Rev. Peter Nilles will officiate and burial will be in Calvary cemetery. He was born in Manitowoc Rapids Aug. 22, 1866. When he was about 16 he moved to Two Rivers. In 1891 he married Miss Barbara Christoffel, who survives, with ten children. All of the children reside in Two Rivers with the exception of Sister M. Clarentine of Fond du Lac. The children are: Bernard, former Two Rivers councilman, Leo, Paul, Louis, Joseph, John, Mrs. Johanna Tegen, Mrs. Louis Kumbalek and Agatha. Other survivors are three brothers, Phillip, Two Rivers; Jule, Kewaunee, and Joseph of Lexington, Neb.; two sisters, Mrs. John Hoffman of Barron, Wis., and Mrs. Michael Beitzel of Two Rivers and 14 grandchildren. He came to America in 1853, first residing in Milwaukee and later in Town Kossuth, then lived for many years on a farm that he operated in Town Newton. LOUISE NEUMANN cemetery #90 Mrs. Albert Neumann, 81, nee Louisa Borgesser, passed away early Sunday morning at her home in Ada in the town of Herman following a lingering illness. Mrs. Neumann, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Borngesser, was born in the Town of Rhine on Oct. 3, 1871. She was married to Albert Neumann on Aug. 4, 1889. The couple resided in Sheboygan for one year but later returned to the Borngesser homestead in Ada where they have resided since. Mr. Neumann retired 12 years ago. The survivors include her husband; six children, Miss Edna at home; Albert Jr., town Meeme; Mrs. Anna Strauss, Milwaukee; Arwin, St. Wendel; Mrs. Elmer (Elenore) Pederson, West Allis and Mrs. Walter (Imgard)Klumb, Rockfield; one sister, Miss Emma Borngesser of Ada; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grand- children. Mrs. Neumann was born Minnie Diefenthaler, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Hartman) Diefenthaler, in the Town of Rhine. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in the Town of Rhine and attended district school there. She married Rudolph Neumann at Elkhart Lake on Dec. 14, 1929. The couple operated a farm in the Town of Rhine until 1950, when they moved to their present farm in the Town of New Holstein. Mrs. Neumann was an active member of St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Kiel. Survivors include her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Allen Jeanette Wangemann; two sisters, Mrs. William Schmahl, Route 1, Elkhart Lake, and Mrs. William Storev of Milwaukee; a brother, William Diefenthaler of Appleton; and a granddaughter, Lori Lee. NEUMANN cemetery #82 Three Dead in Crossing Crash at Kiel Chippewa Hits Automobile at Intersection Residents of Kiel and New Holstein are Victims of Accident – Others Injured Kiel – Three young people were killed and one other injured seriously Sunday afternoon at 3:45 o’clock when the automobile in which they were riding was struck by the Chippewa, crack Milwaukee Road train. The accident occurred on Fremont street, the main street of Kiel, and the train was traveling at a rapid pace at the time, as it does not stop at Kiel. The dead are Richard Neumann, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Neumann of 704 St. Paul street, Kiel; Virginia Klapperich, 19, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Klapperich of New Holstein, and Miles Moths, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Moths of Kiel. Moths was the driver of the car. Both Richard Neumann and Virginia Klapperich were killed instantly, and Miles Moths died at 11:50 p.m. Sunday at the St. Nicholas hospital, Sheboygan. Critically Hurt Critically injured is Betty Jane Schwantes, 19, of New Holstein, who suffered a fractured skull. Miss Schwantes was unconscious throughout the night. Three others in the car, less seriously hurt, were Elmer Buchmann, Delhart Freis and Jerome Wilkens, 19, all of Kiel. The five injured persons were taken to the St. Nicholas hospital in Sheboygan. The body of Miss Klapperich was taken to the Erbe-Hoffmann Funeral home at New Holstein and the body of Richard Neumann was taken to the Meiselwitz Funeral home at Kiel. Other Injuries The Freis boy sustained cuts about the face; Wilkens suffered cuts, bruises and shock and Buchmann also sustained cuts and bruises. The car was a complete wreck. Richard H. Neumann, who would have been 18 years old next Sunday, Feb. 13, is the son of Hugo and Frieda Meile Neumann. He was born in New Holstein on Feb. 13, 1926, and attended the public schools at Kiel and graduated from the Kiel High school last spring. He was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian church of Kiel. Richard enlisted in the Army Air Corps Reserve on Aug. 9, 1943, and would have been inducted next March 1. Survivors are his parents; a brother, Donald; his grandmothers, Mrs. Agnes Neumann and Mrs. Emma Meile of Kiel. The tragedy occurred on the 80th birthday of his grandmother, Mrs. Agnes Neumann. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Meiselwitz Funeral home and at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian church. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 4 p.m., Tuesday. Virginia Klapperich, 19, was born Jan. 31, 1925, in New Holstein, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Klapperich, and graduated last Spring from the New Holstein High school. She has since been employed at the Leverenz Shoe Co. at New Holstein. Miles William Moths, 18, son of Oliver and Clara Yahr Moths, was born Feb. 28, 1925, at Silver Creek, town Sherman, Sheboygan county. He took an aircraft engine course in Racine and was employed at the Freis Feed and Elevator Co., at Kiel. ROBERT V. NEUMANN cemetery #86 Sheboygan County recorded its first traffic fatality of the year early Sunday. The victim was Robert V. Neumann, 33, of 61 Green Bay Ct., Sheboygan Falls, who died en route to a hospital shortly after his car somersaulted off Highway 23, three miles west of Sheboygan Falls. (a whole account of the story can be found in the Press) A native of Calumet County, Neumann was born Jan. 22, 1926, in New Holstein, a son of Frank and Rosa Neumann. He was a graduate of New Holstein High School. After his graduation, he served with the 506th Parachute Infantry Division in Central Europe from May 23, 1944, until June 4, 1946. On his return to civilian life, Mr. Neumann worked for the Meili-Blumberg Machine Shop at New Holstein until May 1, 1950, when he entered the employ of the Kohler co. He was employed as a machinist in the Kohler co. electric plant division. Mr. Neumann was married Feb. 8, 1947 to Miss Audrey Bechle at New Holstein. The couple made their home there until moving to Sheboygan Falls in 1951. Survivors are the widow; four children (private); his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Neumann, New Holstein; two brothers (private); and one sister (private). Two infant sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at Ballhorn-Karsteadt Funeral Home, Sheboygan Falls, with the Rev. Jacob Juist, pastor of the First Reformed Church at Sheboygan Falls officiating. RUDOLPH F. NEUMANN cemetery #20 Rudolph F. Neumann, 72, of R. 1, New Holstein, died Friday morning at St. Nicholas Hospital where he had been a patient since Feb. 3. Born March 24, 1891, in the Town of Schleswig, he was a son of the late William and Katie Ruh Neumann, attended the Schleswig district school, and married the former Elsie Bosma of the Town of Eden on Nov. 2, 1915. The couple farmed in the Town of Rhine. Mrs. Neumann died in January, 1929. On Dec. 14, 1929, Mr. Neumann married the former Minnie Defenthaler(sic) of the Town of Rhine in Kiel. The couple farmed in the Town of Rhine until 1950 when they moved to their present home. She died in June, 1961. Mr. Neumann was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Kiel. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Allen (Jeanette) Wangemann of Sheboygan; two granddaughters; two brothers, Oscar and Adolph of the Town of Schleswig; and four sisters Mr. William Happel and Mrs. William Defenthaler, both of Kiel, Mrs. Walter Jung of rural Plymouth, and Mrs. Edwin Meinnert of rural Sheboygan. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Kiel. The Rev. Vernon E. Jaberg, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Eaton Cemetery. Friends may call at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel from 3 p.m. Sunday until 11:30 a.m. Monday, at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the services.


WILLIAM NEUMANN cemetery #81 William Neumann, aged 78, passed away at his farm home in the town of Schleswig, on Friday, at 12:15 p.m. after having suffered a stroke on Tuesday, from which he never recovered. The deceased was born in Blankenburg, Germany on July 25, 1857, and came with his parents to Sheboygan on October 26, 1869. Later the Neumann family moved on a farm in the town of Eaton. He was married on November 27, 1888 to Miss Katherine Ruh, and the couple immediately located on a farm in the town of Schleswig. Later they disposed of it and purchased another farm in that township, where the deceased has resided ever since. His wife passed away on May 5, 1895, and in 1896 he was married to Miss Anna Maurer of Chilton, and the couple continued to live on the present farm home. To this union nine children were born of whom two have preceded their parents in death. He is survived by his wife, the following seven children - Mrs. William (Elizabeth) Happel of near here, Mrs. Edward (Martha) Meinert of the town of Herman, Mrs. Walter (Irma) Junk of the town of Rhine, Mrs. William (Edna) Diefenthaler of here, Rudolph of the town of Rhine, and Oscar and Adolph on the homestead farm in the town of Schleswig; three grandchildren, and one sister residing at Elkhorn. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon from the family residence at 1:30 o'clock, and at 2 o'clock services were held at the Bethelehem's Reformed church in Schleswig, with burial being made in the adjoining church cemetery. The Rev. August H. DAUGHTER OF WOLFGANG NEUMEYER cemetery #47 From Der Nord Westen, 05 Aug. 1897: Death Tues. of the 9-yr. old daughter of Wolfgang Neumeyer in Alverno, of a brain illness. The funeral will take place Fri. morning at the cemetery at Silver Lake.


HERBERT NEUMEYER cemetery #21 A funeral Mass was held for Herbert Neumeyer, 83, of St. Nazianz, who died Friday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. The Mass was held at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. The Reverend Lester Groeschl, pastor, was celebrant of the Mass. Burial was in the parish cemetery. He was born October 29, 1897, in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids, a son of Joseph and Magedelina Fundenberger Neumeyer. He attended Quarry School. On May 5, 1925, he married Lydia Burkart of St. Nazianz. The couple farmed in the Town of Liberty until 1946, when he acquired the Nu-Stone Company which he operated until retiring in 1963. LILLIAN M. BARTON NEUMEYER cemetery #44 Lillian M. Neumeyer, age 79, of 3201 Division St., Manitowoc, died on Monday morning, Jan. 21, 2008, at home, surrounded by her family. The former Lillian Vandenberg was born on May 12, 1928, at Wrightstown, daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Meulemans) Vandenberg. She became a nursing assistant with North End Home Care Incorporated. She also was a flower designer with Flowers By Joyce Floral Shop. Lillian was also a homemaker, wife and mother. On June 20, 1992, she was married to Clarence A. Neumeyer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 28 of Valders. Mom loved to paint and draw, and to knit and crochet. She was a great baker and cook, and enjoyed flowers and gardening. Her family was a very important part of her life. She was a good wife and a wonderful stepmom. She loved Jesus to the utmost. Survivors include her husband, her stepfather, her four children, her stepchildren, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters, and two longtime friends. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her father: Henry Vandenberg; her mother: Mary Leidel; one brother: Melvin Vandenberg; one stepson: Robert Neumeyer; two brothers-in-law: Ernest Mertens and Raymond Micke; and Leola Hilton, to whom she was a longtime caregiver. Monsignor James Vanden Hogen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial, with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc, 818 State St., Manitowoc, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, and on Thursday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday to end the visitation.
