BARTHEL MUCHOWSKE OLD SETTLER OF NEWTON IS DEAD, AGED 78 Bartel Muchowski (sic) Who Came Here in Youth, is Called Bartel Muchowski, a pioneer settler of Newton, died at his home there Tuesday at the advanced age of 78 years. Mr. Muchowski, who was native of Germany, came here in youth and was one of the pioneers who settled the county. He had been failing for some time. Four sons - Frank, Joseph, John and Math - and six daughters - Anna, Agnes, Mathilda, Marie, Rose and Julia - survive. The funeral will be held fraon St. Cacimir's (sic) church at Newton, Friday at 9 o'clock. The Rev. Edward Bujarski officiated at the requiem mass and burial was made in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Joseph Kortas, Frank Pribek, Harry Kania, Emil Lulloff, Ladis Stephaniak, and Ben Tomcheck. Mr. Muchowski was born in Newton in 1886 and has always resided there. He is survived by a brother, Matthew of Newton; three sisters, Rose and Mary on the homestead farm and Mrs. Tillie Engelbrecht of Manitowoc; a niece, Mrs. Harry Pribek of Maribel. A brother, Frank, died five months ago. ANTONIN MUDROCH cemetery #66 From Der Nord Westen, 09 Sept. 1897: Since 10 o'clock Fri. morning, Anton Madroch, a resident who lives near Tisch Mills, has disappeared without a trace. On that morning he took his hunting weapon and went into the nearby woods. Shortly after going into the woods a shot was heard. It was believed that he might have tried suicide because he has recently shown symptoms of insanity. Madroch is about 47 yrs. old and has a worthwhile farm. All attempts to find him are fruitless so far. ******** From Der Nord Westen, 16 Sept. 1897: The body of Anton Mudroch in Tisch Mills, whose disappearance we reported in last week's issue, was found in a cornfield Tues. last week. The poor man had shot himself.
ANNA MUEHLBAUER cemetery #83 Mrs. Frank Muehlbauer, 77, of 729 Chicago St., Kiel, died this morning at St. Nicholas Hospital where she had been a patient for the past five weeks. The former Anna Kautzer was born July 26, 1888, in the Town of Eaton, a daughter of the late John and Magdalene Kautzer. She attended St. Gregory's Catholic School at St. Nazianz and was married June 3, 1913, to Frank Muehlbauer of Kiel at St. Gregory's Church. The couple lived in Kiel. The observed their golden wedding in June 1963. Mrs. Muehlbauer was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, and the Christian Mothers Society of the Parish. Surviving are her husband; eight sisters, Mrs. Paul Lenhard, Cleveland, Mrs. Nobert Berchem, New Holstein, Mrs. Louis Burkard, St. Nazianz, Mrs. Elmer Dedering, Kiel, Mrs. John Lechler, rural Kiel, Mrs. Frienda Schnell, Valders, Mrs. Roland Schnell, rural Kiel, and Mrs. Felix Bushmann, Manitowoc; and three brothers, John, Kiel, Joseph of St. Nazianz and Edmund Kautzer, New Holstein. Funeral services have tentatively been set for Monday morning at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. The time of services will be announced in Thursday's Press. ARNOLD MUEHLBAUER cemetery #43 Arnold Muehlbauer, 76, of 1153 Fourth St., Kiel, died suddenly Saturday afternoon. He was born on May 4, 1911, at St. Nazianz, the son of the late Joseph and Hedwig (Meyer) Muehlbauer. He attended St. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Kiel. Muehlbauer was a World War II veteran, serving with US Army. In 1967, he retired from the A. A. Laun Furniture Co., after working there for 25 years. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Kiel, and its Holy Name Society; the Catholic Knights; and the Disabled American Veterans. Survivors are three sisters; Mrs. Ervin (Elvera) Reseburg of Kiel, Mrs. Norman (Hattie) Schema of St. Nazianz, and Mrs. Nicholas (Leona) Junk of Kiel; two brothers, Joseph of Kiel and Walter of Magalia, California. Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. The Rev. Thomas Leannah, pastor as celebrant. Emtombment(sic) will be in the Calvary Chapel Mausoleum in Manitowoc.
CARL MUEHLBAUER cemetery #83 Charles Muehlbauer, 57, former Kiel resident, died early Friday at his home in Park Falls, Wis. He was born in Austria on Mar. 22, 1891, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Muehlbauer. As a young man he came to Wisconsin, settling near Kiel. He spent several years in this area and later moved to Park Falls where he was engaged in the lumber industry. The survivors include his father and two brothers, Joseph of Town Schleswig and Frank of Kiel. Two sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Meiselwitz Funeral home and at 9:30 o'clock at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church by the Rev. F.X. Kheil. FRANK MUEHLBAUER cemetery #83 Frank J. Muehlbauer, 82, of 729 Chicago St., Kiel, died Monday evening at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, after a brief illness. Born in Germany on March 16, 1887, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Muehlbauer Sr. He came to this county in 1901. On June 3, 1913, he married the former Anna Kautzer of Town of Eaton (Manitowoc County) at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. The couple located in Kiel, and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1963. Mrs. Muehlbauer died in September, 1965. Mr. Muehlbauer retired from the A.A. Laun Furniture Co., in 1954 after working there for 45 years. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. Surviving are nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, the Rev. George Kiefer, pastor, celebrant, following brief family rites at 9:30 at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. HEDWIG MUEHLBAUER cemetery #83 Mrs. Joseph Muehlbauer, 67, of Route 2, Kiel, died Tuesday afternoon at her home in the town of Schleswig after an illness of several months. A native of Manitowoc County, the former Hedwig Meyer was born Oct. 28, 1887, in the town of Eaton, a daughter of the late John and Hedwig Kautzer Meyer. Her marriage to Mr. Muehlbauer was solemnized Sept. 4, 1906, at St. Gregory's Church at St. Nazianz. Since 1918 the couple resided in the town of Schleswig, a mile and a half east of Kiel. Mrs. Muehlbauer was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Kiel, the Christian Mothers' Society of the parish, the Ladies' Catholic Order of Foresters and the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin. Survivors are her husband; six sons, Arnold, at home, Frank, Joseph Jr., and John, of Kiel, Norbert, of School Hill, and Walter, of Sheboygan; five daughters, Mrs. Lambert (Anita) Schneider and Mrs. Raymond (Elvera) Stemper, Town Russell, Mrs. Ervin (Magdaline) Reseburg and Mrs. Nicholas (Leona) Junk, Kiel, and Mrs. Norman (Hedwig) Schema, St. Nazianz; 26 grandchildren, and a brother, Henry Brunmeier, St. Nazianz. An infant daughter and one brother preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Meiselwitz Funeral home, Kiel, and at 10 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. F.X. Kheil, pastor, will be the celebrant of the requiem high mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Burial took place in the church cemetery. On Thursday evening members of the Lady Foresters and the Catholic Knights recited the rosary at the funeral home. The Christian Mothers Society recited the rosary at the church on Friday evening.
JOSEPH MUEHLBAUER (d. 1958) cemetery #83 Joseph Muehlbauer, 74, of 513 4th St., Kiel, died at his home Wednesday evening after several months' illness. Mr. Muehlbauer was born at Plassendorf, Austria, March 2, 1884, a son of Frank and Barbara Obermeyer Muehlbauer, and came to this country in 1900, settling in Manitowoc County. He was married to Hedwig Meyer at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, St. Nazianz, Sept. 4, 1906. The couple lived at St. Nazianz and School Hill until 1917, then moved to a home east of Kiel. After Mrs. Muehlbauer's death April 26, 1955, Mr. Muehlbauer moved to Kiel. Mr. Muehlbauer was employed at Stoelting Bros. Co. at Kiel for many years and retired in 1947. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, the Holy Name Society, St. Gregory's Court of the Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Catholic Knights. He leaves six sons, Frank, Arnold, Joseph and John, all of Kiel, Norbert of School Hill, and Walter, of San Jose, Calif.; five daughters, Mrs Lampert (Anita) Schneider and Mrs. Raymond (Elvira) Stepmper, both of Town Russell, Sheboygan County, Mrs. Ervin (Lena) Roeburg and Mrs. Nicholas (Leona) Junk, both of Kiel, and Mrs. Norman (Hedwig) Schema, St. Nazianz; 32 grandchildren and a brother, Frank, of Kiel. JOSEPH MUEHLBAUER (d. 1993) cemetery #83 Joseph F. Muehlbauer, 80, of 108 Park Ave., Apt 2, Kiel died Tuesday afternoon, August 24, 1993, at his home after a brief illness. He was born December 21, 1912 in the town of Centerville, Manitowoc County, son of the late Joseph Sr. and Hedwig Meyer Muehlbauer. He attended SS Peter and Paul school, Kiel. On May 4, 1937 he married Gertrude Meyer at SS Peter and Paul Church of Kiel. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1987. He was employed at A. A. Laun Furniture Co., Kiel for 43 years, retiring in 1977. His wife, Gertrude, preceded him in death on May 18, 1991. He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Church, Kiel and the Christian Men’s Club. JOSEPH L. MUEHLBAUER cemetery #21 St. Nazianz Youth Killed In Crash Joseph L. Muehlbauer, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Muehlbauer, Route 1, Kiel, died Sunday at Theda Clark Hospital, Neenah. His death was the result of head injuries he received when the motorcycle he was driving was struck from behind by a car driven by Merlin R. Robley, Route 2, Reedsville, at 9 p.m. Saturday. The accident occurred at the Roosevelt Street junction on the south side of Valders as both vehicles were proceeding north on Highway 151. The rear portion of the 1969 Honda was embedded in the right front grill and hood of the Robley vehicle. The section of Highway 151 on which the accident occurred is Calumet Avenue and curves downgrade upon entering the village. Muehlbauer was born August 16, 1952, at Sheboygan, son of Norbert and Catherine Schema Muehlbauer. He was graduated second in his class at J.F.K. Prep this year. He had been employed at Miller Implement, St. Nazianz. (Survivors omitted for privacy) A sister preceded him in death. Mrs. Muehlbauer, nee Ruth Helwich, was born Apr. 12, 1930, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Gustave and Anna Graf Holschbach Helwich. She was married to Donald C. Huehlbauer Apr. 13, 1952, at Manitowoc. She was employed at Dow Canvas Products, Mantiowoc. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Altar Society of Holy Innocents Catholic Church. THERESA JANE MUEHLBAUER cemetery #83 Kiel Girl Is Scalded To Death. Theresa Jean Muehlbauer, two and one- half year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Muehlbauer, 415 S. Fifth street, Kiel, died at St. Nicholas hospital here at 8:40 a.m. today as the result of burns suffered in a tragic accident at her home at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. The small girl suffered severe burns on most of her body, arms and legs when she fell over a kettle of hot water in the kitchen of the Muehlbauer home. Her father brought the kettle of water up from the basement of the home and placed it on the floor, he turned around to close the door and a moment later Theresa Jean fell over the kettle spilling the scalding water over most of her body. She was taken to St. Nicholas hospital where the burns were treated. She is survived by her parents; a brother (name omitted for privacy); the maternal grandparetns, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Schema of St. Nazianz and the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Muehlbauer of the town of Schleswig. Funeral services will be conducted at the Meiselwitz Funeral home in Kiel at 9 a.m. Saturday and at the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church at 9:30 o'clock. The Rev. F.X. Eleventh street where he had resided for fifty eight years, death being due to infirmities incident to age and an illness from which he had been a sufferer for six months past. Mr. Muehlenbruch’s death occurred this morning. Deceased was a native of Germany, born July 10, 1838, being 82 years old and came to America in 185?, locating here shortly after. He was employed as a cabinet maker and manufacturer of coffins for many years until forced by his age and ill health to give up his ?. ROMILDA MUELLENBACH cemetery #83 Romilda “Millie” A. Muellenbach, age 82, formerly of 918 Second St., Kiel, died Friday afternoon, May 4, 2001, at the Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein, where she had resided for the past three years. The former Romilda Arenz, she was born April 22, 1919, in the town of Stockbridge, daughter of the late Arthur and Clara Schommer Arenz. She attended Holy Trinity Catholic School in Jericho. On May 20, 1941, she married Everett J. Muellenbach at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho. He died Sept. 29, 1996. Millie was the head cook at the Kiel High School for 17 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel, the Christian Mothers, Kiel Senior Citizens and various card clubs. For many years Millie was a cake decorator for various occasions.
