ADELINE "ADDIE" MICHAL cemetery #43 Adeline "Addie" Michal, age 86, a lifelong resident of Manitowoc, died on Wednesday morning, Dec. 26, 2007, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, surrounded by her children, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Adeline Lillian Reindl, daughter of the late Wencel "Jim" and Martha (Zolk) Reindl on Jan. 25, 1921, in Manitowoc. She graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, with the class of 1938, and last summer attended her 69th class reunion. On Oct. 11, 1941, she married Joseph J. Michal, who preceded her in death in 2001. Addie worked at the Mikadow Theater until it burned in 1956. Later, she worked for Sorge Dairy, then Lake to Lake Dairy until her retirement in 1983. Addie was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, and was active in the Daughters of Isabella and the St. Teresa Society. She was a very talented designer and seamstress, who not only sewed elaborate dresses for her daughter, but also lovingly created beautiful and cherished patch quilts for each of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing and listening to old-time music, decorating, cooking, baking, especially the good old Czech recipes, following local issues, taking night classes, and care- giving. She was also preceded in death by her husband: Joseph; her sister: Vivian Vollmer Cahill; her three children; and her in-laws: Helen and John Schroeder; and Harold and Ann Last. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton, with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. ALMA MICHALEK Mrs. Anton Michalek, 67, of 1718-21st St., Two Rivers, died unexpectedly Wednesday of a heart attack at the home of a sister, Mrs. Douglas Falk, 2131 34th St., Two Rivers, with whom she had been visiting. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. T.F. Stern officiating. Burial will be in Pioneers' Rest Cemetery, Two Rivers. Mrs. Michalek, nee Alma Bargman, was born Jan. 17, 1898, at West Kewaunee, daughter of the late Charles and Lena Burmeister Bargman. Prior to her marriage April, 1920, to Anton Michalek at Kewaunee, she had been an employe at the Karsten Hotel in that city. The couple moved to Two Riveres in 1921 where she resided since. She was a member of St. John Lutheran congregation. Besides her husband she leaves a daughter (private), a son (private), another sister, Mrs. Harold Anderson, of Manitowoc, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. ANTON MICHALEK, SR. cemetery #89A Anton Michalek Sr, 73, of 624 S 26th st, Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning at home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. Richard Weber officiating. Burial will be in Pioneers Rest Cemetery, Two Rivers Wisconsin. Mr. Michalek was born in the Town of Newton June 5, 1899, son of the late Joseph and Monica (Loskosky) Michalek. When he was a child the family brought him to Kewaunee. He married Alma Bargman in 1920, she died in 1955. He married Dora Wesela Dec. 9, 1968, at Seymour. He had been employed for 20 years at Mirro Aluminum Co.,Two Rivers, and later for several years he was employed at the Two Rivers Washington Street Gamble Store, he retired in 1965. Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, a son, three stepsons, three sisters, Mrs. William Drezinski and Mrs. Julia Kuehl, of Kewaunee and Mrs. Alden Flegle, of New Mexico: three brothers, Theodore and Joseph of Kewaunee and Emil, of Milwaukee: seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. FLORA A. MICHALEK cemetery #43 Flora A. Michalek, age 91, a resident of San Luis Manor, Green Bay, died early Monday morning, Jan. 22, 2007, at San Luis Manor. She was born on June 3, 1915, in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Julius and Wilhelmina (Begalke) Grumann. Flora was a graduate of Washington High School, Two Rivers, with the class of 1933. On March 21, 1936, she married Daniel Michalek in Two Rivers He preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1992. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) ALVENA T. MICHEL cemetery #44 Mrs. William J. Michel, 84, who resided with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William G. Michel, of Rt. 2, Two Rivers, died Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Kristaps Caune will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Michel, nee Alvena T. Larson, was born May 28, 1888, at Manitowoc Rapids, daughter of the late Osman and Mary Jenson Larson. She was married to William J. Michel April 22, 1911, at Gjerpen. The couple farmed in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids prior to moving to Manitowoc. Her husband preceded her in death April 28, 1962. She was a member of the School Section Homemakers of Mishicot. Survivors include a son, William G., of Rt. 2, Two Rivers; a daughter, Mrs. Jake (Lillian) Nadel, of Maribel; two brothers, Hiram, of Manitowoc and Louis, of Rockwood; a sister, Mrs. George Denk, of Manitowoc; and four grand- children. Mrs. Michael, who died of lung disease, was born 84 yrs. ago in the Rhineland. Her husband preceded her in death 19 yrs. ago. She leaves 4 daughters and a son. GEORGE MICHEL cemetery #43 George Michel, 72, native of Manitowoc Rapids, died Thursday afternoon at the family home of a stroke. He had been in ill health for three years. The body will be removed to the home on Saturday afternoon from the Pfeffer Funeral Home, and it will lie in state until Monday at 9 a.m. when the funeral services will be held at the home. Burial will be in Calvary cemtery. Mr. Michel was born in Manitowoc Rapids on August 7, 1869, and lived there all his life. He was employed as a bolter at the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Co. until he retired three years ago. He married Pauline Nuhs on June 15, 1897. The widow survives, with one daughter, Mrs. Frank Steger, and two grandchildren, all of Rapids; two brothers, William of Mishicot and Henry of Marinette; and three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Kaufman of Loomis, Wis., and Mrs. Charles Becker and Mrs. Al Wetenkamp of Manitowoc. GOTTLIEB MICHEL cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 12 July 1900: Death Sun. morning of Gottlieb Michel, a resident here of many years, of old age following a 2-week confinement. The deceased, who was born 21 Feb. 1821 in Wehrden, Kingdom of Saxon-Weimar, came to America in 1852. He worked in several parts of the country and eventually took a farm in Manitowoc County. In his 70’s he moved to Manitowoc and lived a quiet, reflective life. A nephew of his lives in Kenosha and a niece in Milwaukee. The latter came to Manitowoc when she learned of her uncle’s illness, helping until his death. In addition to those named he is survived by other relatives in Germany. ELIZABETH MICHELS cemetery #89D Mother of Emil Michels Dies Saturday Funeral services for Mrs. Nick Michels, 68, of Two Rivers were held there Tuesday morning from St. Mark's church. She was the mother of Emil Michels of this city. She died at Two Rivers Saturday. Pallbearers were six nephews of the deceased: Joseph and William Hertel, Eugene Michels, William Schram, and Herbert and William Schuler. A native of Meeme township, she was born Elizabeth Schram in 1882. She married Nick Michels Oct. 30, 1906; they lived in Kiel for many years where Mr. Michels operated a blacksmith shop in the building now occupied by the A. J. Schmidt Co. They moved to Two Rivers about six years ago. Survivors are her husband; two sons, Emil of Kiel and Clement of Two Rivers; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Schuler and Mrs. Gottfried Schuler of St. Nazianz, and Mrs. Paul Hertel of Sheboygan; two brothers, Henry Schram of St. Nazianz and Nick Schram of Kiel; and three grandchildren. - July 1950


EMIL N. MICHELS cemetery #83 Emil N. Michels, 52, 323 Fremont St., Kiel, died Monday morning at St. Nicholas Hospital after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage earlier that morning. A native of Kiel, he was born Oct. 17, 1907, a son of Nicholas and the late Elizabeth Schram Michels. He attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Kiel, and was graduated from Kiel High School in 1926. He married Anna Wendel of Kiel on Oct. 18, 1934, at Ss. Peter and Paul Church. The couple continued to make their home in Kiel where he was employed at the former Rudolph Greve Hardware Store for 28 years. The past four years, he also served as assistant custodian at the Kiel Public Schools. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church and the Holy Name Society of the church. His mother died in 1950. Survivors include his wife; a son (name omitted for privacy); his father, Nicholas of Kiel, and a brother, Clemens of Beaver Dam. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Ss. Peter and Paul Church, following brief rites at 9:30 at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel. The Rev. EMILY MICHELSON cemetery #44 MANITOWOC DAILY HERALD MARCH 1, 1913- DEATH TAKES ANOTHER OF OLD SETTLERS-MRS EMILY MICHELSON, HERE HALF CENTURY IS DEAD, AGED 85 Another of the old settlers of the city had been claimed by death, Mrs. Emily Michelson, who came here fifty-one years ago and had been a resident of the city ever since, succumbing to the infirmities of age this morning. Mrs. Michelson's death occurred at the home of her daughter Mrs. JC Barrie, North Ninth street. Mrs. Michelson was born in Norway 85 years ago and came to America at the age of 22, the famly locating at Green Bay. Four years later she was married to Michael Michelson, who procedded her in death fifteen years ago and the couple took up their home here. Mrs. Michelson is survived by two daughters, and three grand children. Mrs. Michelson was a womand who was loved and admired by a large circle of friends.]


GAR. HEINRICH MICKEL cemetery #70 Henry Michel, a veteran of the civil war and for years a prosperous farmer of Rapids, was Friday committed to the northern hospital at Oshkosh to be cared for as an insane patient. Michel has been afflicted for nine years, but had been cared for by his family until recently when his insanity became violent in form. The patient is 58 years of age and the father of two children. He served through the civil war and located on a farm in this county shortly after. There is some hope that the treatment at the hospital will benefit him. GEORGE J. MICKELSON cemetery #44 George Mickelson, 72, retired sailor and carpenter, died Thanksgiving morning at the family home 1116 Huron street. He had been seriously ill little more than a week. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon from the St. Paul's Lutheran church, the Rev. R.B. Walden officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery. Mr. Mickelson was born at Two Creeks in 1867 and when a young man took up farming and also was employed as a sailor on numerous lake vessels in the early days. He came to this city in 1912 with other members of the Mickelson family and has since resided here. Since coming here he also engaged in the carpenter trade. In recent years he has been retired. He was a member of the Men's club of the St. Paul's Lutheran church. Survivors are three sisters, Mary and Martha Mickelson, city, Mrs. William E. Smith, Los Angeles, Calif., and a brother, Thomas, Elbow Lake, Minn. Five sisters and a brother preceded him in death. AGNES MIDLE cemetery #66 Mrs. John Midle of Rt. 1, Denmark, died Thursday afternoon at Maple Crest Sanatorium, Whitelaw, where she had been a patient for five months. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Specht Funeral Home, Mishicot, and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, the Rev. Donald Feller officiating. Burial will be in Tisch Mills National Cemetery. Mrs. Midle was born Agnes Tofel, Nov. 9, 1888, at Ostrava, Czechoslovakia, daughter of the late Francis and Maria Tofel. She was married to Joseph Biel in Czechoslovakia and the couple came to the United States where Mr. Biel died in 1921. In 1922 she was married to John Midle and the couple settled on a farm in the Town of Mishicot. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Rudolph Zar of Milwaukee and Mrs. Roland Hess of Rt. 1, Mishicot; three sons, Alois Biel of Rt. 2, Two Rivers, Joseph Biel of Milwaukee and son (private), of the Town of Mishicot; a brother, Rudolph Tofel of Czechoslovakia; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. WALTER F. MIELKE cemetery #43 Walter F. Mielke Sr., age 84, of 13032 Robley Road, Valders, entered eternal life Friday evening, Jan. 25, 2008, at his residence with his family by his side. Private funeral services for the family will be held 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Klingeisen officiating. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc, with military rites accorded by the American Legion Drews Bleser Post No. 88. Walter was born on Feb. 18, 1923, in Chicago, Ill. He was the son of the late Robert and Theresa Dollinger Mielke. Walter served in the U.S. Army overseas during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he returned to the Chicago area and became employed with Litsiner Lincoln Mercury in auto repair for 49 years. It was in 1970 when Walter and his wife moved to this area. In 1947, Walter married Rose Ann Cesak at Calera, Ala. She preceded him in death on March 3, 1985. Walter was a member of the American Legion Thompson Burkard Post No. 28 in Valders, the NWTF, WWA, Wisconsin Deer Hunters Association and Walleyes for Tomorrow. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) HENRY MIENBURG cemetery #89A From Der Nord Westen, 11 Feb. 1909: A Milwaukee newspaper reports that on Tuesday noon Henry Meienburg was killed by an engine of the Milwaukee-St. Paul Railroad. The deceased is a son of Charles Meienburg here and has worked for the Milwaukee Co. for several years. He is married and has 3 children. Tuesday afternoon he was on his way home and at the corner of 25th Street and St. Paul Avenue he was hit and killed by a so called transfer locomotive. In addition to his wife and 3 children he is survived by his elderly father here, as well as 5 sisters and 2 brothers. His wife is a daughter of the late Jacob Giefer. ******** From Der Nord Westen, 18 Feb. 1909: The body of Henry Meienburg was brought from Milwaukee, where he had been killed in an accident recently, to Two Rivers and the funeral conducted there from the residence of his mother-in-law, Mrs. M. Giefer. The funeral procession was very large and the profusion of floral displays gave evidence of the respect with which the deceased was held in Two Rivers. Pastor Giese, from the Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, conducted the funeral. Mr. Meienburg had not fallen beneath the wheels of the train but was hit with full force on the back of his head, killing him instantly. Except for a broken arm his body was not mutilated.


CLAUDE MIES cemetery #83 Claude M. Mies, 53, of 222 Paine St., Kiel, died shortly before midnight Monday at his home. He was born in Kiel on Sept. 29, 1904, the son of the late Hubert and Mary Nett Mies. He received his education at the parochial school in Kiel. On Oct. 29, 1929, he was married to Emeranda Klaeser of Kiel at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Prior to 1948 he was employed at the Kiel Woodenware Co. and since then at the Stoelting Bros. Co. He was a member of the Holy Name Society. He is survived by his wife and one sister, Mrs. Raymond Voelker, Kiel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church following brief services at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. The Rev. F.X. Kheil will be the celebrant of the requiem mass. Burial will be in the church cemetery. HUBERT MIES In his home on Friday evening at 11:30 PM, Mr. Hubert Mies a well-known innkeeper in Kiel died of a lingering illness of kidney disease and edema of the heart. The deceased was born on August 19, 1878 near St. Joseph in Fond du Lac County. In 1902 he married his now surviving wife, Mary Nett and the couple lived for many years in Hinzeville where Mr. Mies owned a saloon. Later the family moved to a farm in Town New Holstein, and three years ago to Kiel where the deceased purchased the Market Saloon, which he operated until his death. The marriage was blessed with two children who along with their mother mourn the all too early death of her husband and their father. Additionally, his mother, four brothers and three sisters survive him. The burial took place on Tuesday morning at the Catholic Cemetery following the funeral service at the St. Peter and Paul Church with Father Rumbel officiating. VALESKA MIGAWA cemetery #89D Mrs. Valeska Migawa, 85, formerly of Two Rivers and who made her home with a daughter, at Brillion, died Saturday at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. Robert Rhyner officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. Mrs. Migawa, nee Valeska Beisinger, was born March 15, 1888, at Mandan, N.D., daughter of the late Joseph and Charlotte Steinbreck Beisinger. She was married Nov. 16, 1914, at Billings, Mont., to Joseph Migawa, where they resided until 1922, moving to Two Rivers. He died at Two Rivers Aug. 28, 1948. She was a member of Third Order of St. Francis and a past president of St. Mark Altar Society. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) A brother and sister preceded her in death. FRANCIS MIKA cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 18 July 1901: Following a long illness Franz Mika, a well-known local resident, died on Mon. afternoon. He was born in Prague on 01 Aug. 1832 and came to America in 1854, settling in the northern part of our county. In 1857 he moved to Manitowoc and operated a produce store here for many years. When he was in his 60's he began to suffer from an eye illness which led to his total blindness. After his wife died in 1891, who had accompanied him as he walked our streets, he has been living with his soninlaw Ernst Wagner here. He caught the grippe last winter and never completely regained his health. He was a well educated man and completely at home in German literature. Following wishes of the deceased, his body was taken to Milwaukee on Tues. for cremation there. ******* [age 69 yrs.]


JOHN MIKLICH cemetery #82 John Miklich, 78, of 806 3rd St., Kiel, owner of the Kiel Monument Works, died late Tuesday night at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton. Born on May 13, 1890, in Yugoslavia, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Miklich. He came to the United States in 1910, settling in Sheboygan. On May 1, 1915, he married the former Josephine Skrabole of Sheboygan. The couple moved to Pennsylvania, returned to Sheboygan four years later, and in 1928 moved to Kiel where he purchased the Brooklyn Tavern, operating it for 16 years. In 1947 he purchased the Kiel Monument Works which he operated until his retirement. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary in May, 1965. Mr. Miklich was a 50-year member of the Slovene National Benefit Society and also a member of the Manitowoc Tribe No. 49, Improved Order of Redmen, and the 24-hour Club of the lodge. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Tillie) Moritz; and one son, John Jr., both of Kiel; 11 grandchildren. One son, two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, the Rev. Allen L. Bowe, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Kiel, officiating. Burial will be in the Kiel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today until the hour of services. Members of the Redmen Lodge will meet at the funeral home at 7:30 tonight. JOSEPHINE MIKLICH cemetery #82 Josephine Miklich, 97, a former Kiel resident, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 1994 at Chilton Village Health Care Center, where she had been a resident for the past six years. She was born Feb. 11, 1896, in Yugoslavia. She came to the United States at the age of 16 and settled in Sheboygan. On May 1, 1915 she was united in marriage to John Miklich. The couple moved to Johnston, Penn. Four years later, they moved back to Sheboygan. In 1928 they moved to Kiel to own and operate the Brooklyn Tavern until 1945. The couple then bought and operated the Kiel Monument Shop until 1966. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1965. Her husband, John, preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1968. She was a 50-year member of the Slovene Benefit Society. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, John Jr. (Shirlee), Kiel; one daughter, Tillie Moritz, Kiel; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grand- children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, one sister, two brothers and one son-in-law. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 21 at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, with the Rev. GEORGE MILBAUER cemetery #44 George Milbauer, 55, died suddenly of a heart attack here Sunday morning. He was stricken at his rooming house on North 11th street, and died enroute to the hospital in the ambulance. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. from the Wattawa, Urbanek and Schlei funeral home and at nine o'clock from the Holy Innocents church, the Rev. E.A. Radey officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. Members of the Legion will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Milbauer was born in Kellnersville in 1887 and spent most of his life on farms in that vicinity. He served in World War I, entering the service in Decmeber, 1917 and being discharged at Camp Grant in January, 1919. He was a member of Company D, 10th battalion, U.S. Army. Two years ago Mr. Milbauer came to this city to take employment at the Manitowoc Ship Building Company. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Drews post of the American Legion. Survivors are two brothers, Joseph of this city, Frank of Kellnersville; three sisters, Mrs. John Steeber of route 5, Manitowoc, Mrs. John Svoboda of this city, and Mary Milbauer of Taus. JOSEPH MILBAUER cemetery #44 Joseph Milbauer, 65, died Thursday noon at his home, 1033 North 13th St., Manitowoc, following an illness of a year. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Mittnacht Funeral Home and at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Inocents Catholic Church. The Rev. E.A. Radey will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct military rites at the grave and also act as pallbearers. The deceased was born September, 1886, at Kellnersville and from a youth on followed the carpenter trade. In 1935 he became assistant foreman at Evergreen Cemetery and continued in that capacity until a year ago when he retired because of illness. Mr. Milbauer was a veteran of World War I and served with the Army overseas for a year. He married Lena Kraus in 1924 at Chicago and the couple took up residence at Manitowoc. His affiliations, in addition to the VFW, included the Holy Name Society of Holy Innocents and the Modern Woodmen. Survivors include his wife, a brother, Frank of Kellnersville, and three sisters, Mrs. John Steeber of Route 5, Manitowoc, Mrs. John Svoboda of Manitowoc and Miss Mary Milbauer of Route 2, Manitowoc. LENA MILBAUER cemetery #44 Mrs. Lena Milbauer, 82, formerly of 1033 N. 13th St., Manitowoc, died Saturday evening at Park Lawn Nursing Home, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Schneider-Mittnacht Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo Schmitt will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Milbauer was born March 20, 1890, at Babylon, Czechoslovakia, daughter of the late Max and Dora Weber Krause. She was married to Joseph Milbauer in May of 1924 at Chicago. The couple located in Manitowoc. Her husband preceded her in death in April of 1952. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Anthony (Margaret) Sticha, of Madison and Mrs. Carl (Mary) Finzer, of San Clemente, Calif., and nieces and nephews. MARY MILBAUER cemetery #44 Miss Mary Milbauer, 60, of 1310 S. 12th St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly of a heart attack Wednesday morning. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Florian Milbauer of Oshkosh, a nephew, will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. She was born in Kellnersville Dec. 24, 1894, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Milbauer, and had resided in Manitowoc the past 15 years. She was a member of the St. Ann Christian Mothers Altar Society. CHARLES MILFORD cemetery #44 Charles Milford, 60, died at his home, 2112 Washington street, Tuesday following a lingering illness. Mr. Milford was a restaurant operator in Manitowoc for several years. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Pfeffer funeral home with the Rev. CATHARINA MILL cemetery #8 FUNERAL OF MRS. C. MILL SUNDAY AT CENTERVILLE Funeral services for the late Mrs. Catherine Mill, of Centerville, whodied on Thursday at her home at the at of 78 years, will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. from the family residence at Centerville and at 2 p.m. from the church at Cleveland. Rev. Mr. Funk will officiate and interment will be in the Kansas(sic) cemetery. Mrs. Mill was born on November 24, 1846, in Bavaria, Germany, and at the age of 9 came to the United states with her parents. They settled in Centerville where on November 14, ????, she was married to Gottlieb Mill. He died on May 7, 1913. The survivors are a daughter, Mrs. John Grupe of Hilbert and three sons, Rudolph, of Fl???, Julius of Milwaukee and Er??? of Centerville. Eioght grandchildren, on great-grandchild, a sister and a brother, also survive. (No name of newspaper or date/part of the obit has been cut off on the right side when scanned) ********* Mrs. Gottlieb Mill, a pioneer resident of Manitowoc county, died at the home of her son, Irvin Mill, at Centerville Thursday evening, the demise being due to an attack of dropsy from which she had suffered for some time. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon from the home of the son, the delay being due to the absence of a son who is visiting in Florida and who is returning by train. Mrs. Mill, who was past eighty years of age, is survived by three sons and a daughter, Rudolph, who is in Florida, Irvin at Centerville and Hulfus of Milwaukee and Mrs. Grube of Hilbert. J.G. HUGO MILL cemetery #8 From Der Nord Westen, 17 Oct. 1895: Hugo Mill, son of Gottlieb Mill of Centerville, died early on the morning of 11 Oct. after a long illness. He was born 18 Nov. 1866. His casket was buried Sun. in the family plot in the Lutheran Cemetery of Town Centerville. The funeral cortege was at least a mile long and gave witness to the affection with which the deceased was held. The Centerville Fire Company followed the hearse on foot since Hugo had been a long time member and twice served as captain. The Centerville Germania Chorus, to which Hugo also belonged, was unable to follow the casket because too many members were absent. Pastor Sprengling delivered the funeral oration. The deceased had his life insured for $1,000 which sum he had bequeathed to his ill sister. In addition to his parents, he is survived by 3 brothers and 2 sisters, another sister having died several years ago.


LINA W. MILL cemetery #8 From Der Nord Westen, 02 July 1903: Death Tues. of 19-yr. old Lena Mill in the local Holy Family Hospital following a short illness. She was the daughter of Cleveland, Manitowoc County, resident Charles Mill. The body was taken to Cleveland for burial.


REGINA MILL cemetery #8 From Der Nord Westen, 16 Apr. 1896: (From the correspondent in Centerville, 15 Apr.) Death last Wed. afternoon of widow Regina Mill, known as “Mother” Mill, in the home of her son Gottlieb Mill in the village of Centerville. She was born 09 July 1813 in Hauswalde, East Prussia, and married in 1822(sic), (probably should be 1832), with Johann Daniel Mill who died 25 Apr. 1861. The family came to Centerville in 1851. The marriage produced 5 sons and 3 daughters, of whom 1 son and 1 daughter predeceased their mother. The funeral took place last Sat. in the St. Johannes Church conducted by Pastor Philipp Sprengling.


HANNAH G. MILLAR cemetery #44 Mrs. Guy Millar, 84, a former Manitowoc resident, died Monday at Memphis, Tenn. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Very Rev. Msgr. Alfred A. Schneider will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Millar, nee Hannah Gehbe, was born Oct. 17, 1886, at Clark Mills, daughter of the late Frank and Anna Gehbe. She was married to Guy Millar March 17, 1919, at Superior. Her husband preceded her in death April 2, 1938. Mrs. Millar was a member of the Christian Mothers Altar Society of St. Boniface Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Jane) Groves, of Memphis and Mrs. Henry (Rose) Wagner, of Manitowoc and six grandchildren. Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday where a Memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. by the Christian Mothers Altar Society and friends.
