IDA MEYER cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 20 Feb. 1908: Death in Holy Family Hospital on Friday of Miss Ida Meyer, daughter of August Meyer here. Miss Meyer was brought to the hospital about 10 days before her death in order to undergo an appendicitis operation. The operation was successful and the patient appeared to rally, but she grew weaker and weaker day by day until death overtook her on Friday. Miss Meyer was born in Manitowoc 28 years ago and has spend most of her life here. Most recently she was a bookkeeper in the office of Mr. Esch. Several weeks ago her mother died and her sorrow may have contributed to her lack of recovery from the operation. Mr. August Meyer has been deeply affected by the loss of wife and daughter in so short a time. IRENE K. MEYER cemetery #32 Irene K. Meyer, age 90, a resident of the Manitowoc Health Care Center, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at the center. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2001 at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum. Officiating at the memorial service will be Deacon Paul Kieffer with entombment of the cremated remains at Knollwood ,ausoleum, Town of Kossuth. She was born June 13, 1910, in Reedsville, daughter of the late John and Ida Dietrich Einberger. Irene graduated from the Wisconsin School of the Deaf in Delavan as Secretary of her senior class in 1931. On April 19, 1950, she married Clifford Meyer at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death in 1977. Irene was employed for many years with the Mirro Company until her retirement. She was an active member of the deaf community of Pope John in Green Bay and served as their secretary for many years. She was also a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church. Survivors include a special friend, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy and Robert Einberger and a sister, Marian Barr. The family will greet relatives and friends at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of service at 11 a.m. The Pfeffer Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. ISADORE N. MEYER cemetery #21 Isadore Meyer, 71, of St. Nazianz, died Saturday afternoon at home. Funeral services will be at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at Christianson and Deja Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. The Rev. Cyril Dickrell will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Mr. Meyer was born Dec. 5, 1901, in the Town of Eaton, son of the late Alois and Emma Pfieffer Meyer. He married Lorina Schuler June 14, 1924, at St. Nazianz. The couple farmed in the Osman area until 1961, moving to St. Nazianz in 1963. Survivors include his wife, seven sons and six daughters; two brothers, John and Ray, of Sheboygan; five sisters, Mrs. Adolph Kautzer, of St. Nazianz, Mrs. Rose Prahl, of Sheboygan, Mrs. Betty Baumhardt, of Evanston, Ill., Mrs. John Nagorski, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Mrs. William Callahan, of Milwaukee; 51 grandchildren and a great grandchild. Two sons, three grandchildren and a sister preceded him in death. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 o'clock this Monday afternoon, where the Rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock. The deceased, who had lived in Minneapolis many years, is survived by his widow as well as his sorrowing parents and a sister. JOHANNA MEYER cemetery #44 Mrs. Johanna Meyer, 92, Resident Here 50 Years, Dead Mrs. Johanna Meyer, aged 92 yars, widow of the late Frederick Meyer for years a mason contractor, and a resident here since the early seventies, passed away last night at the family home, 1013 South Fifteenth street. She had been seriously ill for four weeks. Burial will take place Saturday afternoon at two o'clock from the home with Rev. Koeninger officiating and interment in Evergreen. The deceased was born in Germany in 1838. She was married there to Frederick Meyer and they came to America in the early seventies and located here where Mr. Meyer followed mason contracting. JOHN MEYER cemetery #21 in with Mayer surnames Thursday, June 9, 1927. John Meyer, 81, was found dead in bed at his home here last Thursday evening. The body was discovered by a son, Henry. Deceased was born in Germany and came to this country when a young man. He was married to Miss Hedwig Kautzer, who died in childbirth, and later to Miss Mary Kautzer, who died a number of years ago. He is survived by three children, Henry of St. Nazianz, Matthew of Ladysmith, and Mrs. Hattie Muehlhauer of Kiel. The funeral services were held Monday. JOHN MEYER (d. 1969) cemetery #90 John A. Meyer, 71, of 2622 N. 19th St., died at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital Tuesday afternoon following a short illness. Born in the town of Meeme June 18, 1898, the son of the late Albert and Anna Meyer, he married Wilma Hinz Sept. 10, 1918. The couple farmed in the Town of Herman before retiring and moving to Sheboygan 10 years ago. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Schwartzwald, and a director of the National Farm Loan Association. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Myron (Marlene) Horneck, of Howards Grove and Mrs. Francis (Lorraine) Van De Loo, of Cleveland; five sons, Delmar of Plymouth, Dr. Oliver of Wauwatosa, Willard and Ronald, both of Chicago, and Darell of Granada Hills, Calif.; 24 grand- children; and a sister, Mrs. Henry Poth, of Sheboygan. Two infant children, a brother and three sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Schwartzwald, with the Rev. He had suffered for a long time with laryngeal consumption, and death can be considered a release. He leaves a widow and two children of which the oldest is 14. JOHN F. MEYER (d. 1950) cemetery #44 John F. Meyer, 75, died late this morning at the home, 920 South 26th street, following a heart attack. Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending word from a daughter in Colorado. The body is at the Pfeffer funeral home and the funeral services will be held at the St. John Evangelical church, the Rev. Paul Blaufuss officiating. Mr. Meyer was born in Manitowoc in 1875 and married Ida Fetter in 1895. The couple operated a butcher shop and grocery store on Washington street until 32 years ago, when they went into the truck gardening business. The couple observed its golden wedding anniversary in 1945. Survivors are the wife; five daughters, Mrs. Raymond Kaufman of Kenosha, Mrs. Clarence Alter of Manitowoc, Mrs. Elmer Pfefferkorn and Mrs. Milton Detjen of Manitowoc and Mrs. John McLaughlin of Burlington, Colo.; two sons, Fred and John Jr. of Manitowoc; sister, Mrs. Dora Kleman of Manitowoc; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. JOHN G. MEYER cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 28 Apr. 1904: Death Tues. of John G. Meyer, a well-known resident of our city, following multiple years of illness with diabetes. The deceased was born here in 1853 and served many years as a brakeman on the old Overseas Railroad. After giving up that job, he worked 25 more yrs. as a ship's carpenter. For many years he ran a store on Clark St. He is survived by his widow and 4 children. JOSEPH MEYER cemetery #43 SOUTH SIDE MAN FOUND DEAD ON FLOOR OF ROOM Joseph Meyer, 63, Victim of Heart Failure and Demise is Sudden A victim of heart failure, Joseph Meyer, 63, was found dead in his room at the home of his sister, Mrs. Susan Pfeffer, 1026? South Tenth street, yesterday afternoon. Mr. Meyer had complained of grippe but during the morning had been out for a walk. He was alone when death came. Mr. Meyer was born in Pennsylvania and with his parents located at St. Nazianz as a boy, removing here in later years, making his home with his sister. He had been employed by the Aluminum Good company. Two sisters, Mrs. Pfeffer and Miss Anna Meyer, this city and one brother, Edward Meyer of Brillion survive. Mrs. Meyer, nee Kathryn Wagner, was born March 14, 1875, at St. Nazianz, daughter of the late John and Matilda Cohn Wagner. She was married to Matt Meyer Oct. 25, 1892, at St. Nazianz. The couple moved to Manitowoc in 1909, residing here since. Her husband preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1935. She was a charter member of St. Andrew Parish and St. Theresa Society, of which she served as past president for 17 years. LARRY H. MEYER cemetery #84 Funeral services for Larry Meyer, 6, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Meyer, route 1, Newton, who was fatally injured in a traffic accident last Thursday evening, were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, at the St. James Evangelical and Reformed Church at Spring Valley. Mrs. Meyer, the former Leona Walsh, was born March 10, 1905, in the Town of Newton, daughter of the late Thomas and Kathryn Gallagher Walsh. She was a graduate of the Manitowoc County Teachers College and taught school for eight years in Manitowoc County. She was married to Roland C. Meyer on June 29, 1932, at Osman. The couple established residence at Manitowoc. She was a member of St. Boniface St. Ann's Society, Catholic Womens Club, Willing Losers TOPS Club and Germania Society. LILLIAN MEYER cemetery #82 Mrs. C. Meyer Summoned Today After An Illness Kiel - Mrs. Conrad J. Meyer, 67, who operated a millinery store at 531 Freemont street for the past 23 years, died early today at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Buege at Milwaukee. The deceased was moved to the Buege residence in Milwaukee four weeks ago when she first became ill. Nee Lillian Schumacher, Mrs. Meyer was born at Plymouth on Dec. 15, 1878, the daughter of Charles and Dorothea Arps Schumacher. She was married to Conrad J. Meyer of Prairie du Sac, Wis., at Kiel on July 8, 1905, and resided with her husband at Kiel since that time. Survivors include her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Buege. Mr. Meyer operated a grain elevator at Kiel for many years prior to his recent retirement. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian church. The Rev. R. E. Dreger, pastor, will officiate, and interment will be made on the family lot in the Kiel City cemetery.


LORETTA M. MEYER cemetery #82 Loretta M. Meyer, 70, of 16825 Cemetery Rd., Kiel, died Monday morning, April 26, 1993 at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan. She was the former Loretta Wagner, born June 13, 1922 at Cleveland, daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Schmitt) Wagner. She attended St. Wendel Grade School in Cleveland. On Sept. 5, 1942 she married Walter Meyer at St. Wendel Catholic Church, Cleveland. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1992. They farmed in the Town of Schleswig all their married life. She was a devoted member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel; the Christian Mother’s Society, Catholic Order of Foresterer, and most important of all, she was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. (Survivors omitted for privacy) She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. A Mass of Resurrection was held Wednesday, April 28, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. The Rev. LORINA C. MEYER cemetery #21 Lorena C. (Meyer) Woelfel, age 81 of St. Nazianz, died Tues evening Sept. 15th at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc. She was born April 25, 1906, in Eaton, Wis. the daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline Hecker Schuler. She attended St. Gregory's School, St. Nazianz. She married Isadore Meyer June 14, 1927 at St. Nazianz. He preceded her August 25th, 1973. She then married Ray Woelfel, April 24th, 1975 at St. Nazianz. He preceded her Sept 8th, 1982. She and her first husband farmed in the Osmond area for 32 years. She was a member of St. Gregory's Christian Mothers and the St. Nazianz American Legion Auxiliary. MARY MEYER cemetery #21 Sent in by a relative, see contributors page: (edited for possible living persons) Miss Mary Anna Meyer, 80, who was born June 21, 1860, died at 5:50 yesterday afternoon at the home of her sister, in the town of Eaton, three miles north of St. Nazianz. She had been ill for only a few days. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9am at the St. Gregory's church in St. Nazianz. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Miss Meyer was born in Reading, Pennsylvania June 21,1860. She came to St. Nazianz with her parents when she was seven years old, settling on a farm in the town of Eaton. Survivors include two sisters and two brothers. The Young Ladies Sodality of the St. Gregory's church will say the rosary at the Kellenbenz funeral home at 3pm Sunday. MARY MEYER cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 31 Jan. 1901: Death claimed the life Tues. morning of Mrs. Marie Meyer, spouse of our well known fellow citizen Gerhard Meyer. The deceased was born in the Province of Hanover 31 July 1818 and came to America in 1847 with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Brackmann. The family settled in Sheboygan and it was there that she met Gerhard Meyer whom she married in 1848 and they moved to Manitowoc where they have lived ever since. 3 children were born to the couple of whom a daughter died as a child while the 2 sons survive - Henry Meyer here and Geo. Meyer in Grand Rapids, Mich. Both Mr. and Mrs. Meyer were ill with the grippe and it is hoped that he will overcome the illness. Mrs. Meyer's funeral will take place this afternoon in the city cemetery.


MATH MEYER cemetery #21 Sent in by a relative, see contributors page: October 15, 1967 Math Meyer, 83 of St Nazianz, died Sunday evening at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboyan. Funeral services will be at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Christianson Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. The Rev. Gregory Putzer will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Meyer was born Feb 17, 1884 in the town of Eaton, son of the late Matthias and Barbara Hauser Meyer. He married Rose Gerhard April 26, 1910 at St Nazianz, where the couple resided since marriage. They observed their 50th wedding anniversay in 1960. A former businessman in St. Nazianz until his retirement in 1948, Mr. Meyer was a golden jubilarian of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin and was a member of the Holy Name Society. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, two daughters, and four grandchildren. Three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Tuesday where the Rosary will be recited at 8p.m.

MATHIAS MEYER cemetery #43 MATHIAS MEYER DIES AFTER A SHORT ILLNESS Services For Mathias Meyer To Be Held Thursday Mathis Meyer, 67, of 1710 South 14th street, died Sunday morning at 11:30 following a three day illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 8:30 from the home and at nine o'clock from the St. Andrews Catholic church. Burial will be made in the Calvary cemetery. Born at St. Nazianz Sept. 20, 1868, Mr. Meyer worked at the carpenter's trade for many years. He moved to Manitowoc about 30 years ago. For the past four years he has been janitor at the St. Andrews church. He was married Oct. 25, 1892 to Katherine Wagner, who survives him. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Catholic Knights. Survivors, besides his widow, include a daughter, Mrs. William Adelman, Manitowoc; four sons, Theodore of Cato and Albert, Elmer and Alphonse of Manitowoc; five brothers, George, Jacob, John and Frank of Milwaukee and Isadore of St. Nazianz; and four sisters, Mrs. Rose Guysecker, Evanston; Mrs. Dora Lustik, Milwaukee; Mrs. Frank Stall, Plymouth and Mrs. Michael Reese, Evanston; and 10 grandchildren. MICHAEL MEYER cemetery #21 Michael Meyer, aged 73, retired farmer, died early Tuesday morning at the Holy Family hospital following a three weeks' illness. Since retiring from the homestead farm a mile east of St. Nazianz in Liberty, Mr. Meyer and his wife have been making their home in St. Nazianz. Mr. Meyer was born in Eaton in 1867 and spent his life in the county. In 1892 he was married to Miss Theresa Knier and they located on the farm in Liberty. His son, John, took over the homestead when Mr. Meyer retired 11 years ago. Survivors are three sons, Steve of St. Nazianz, Matt of Cleveland, and John; four daughters, Mrs. George Heimann of Hayton, Mrs. Joseph Schad of Schleswig, Mrs. Hugo Woelfel of New Holstein, and Mrs. Peter Stein of R. 1. Valders; two brothers, Peter and Matt of St. Nazianz; four sisters, Mrs. Joseph Fessler, Mrs. Joseph Knier and Miss Mary Meyer of St. Nazianz, and Mrs. Joseph Peters of Stratford, and 33 grandchildren. MINNIE MEYER cemetery #40 Mrs. Henry Meyer, nee Minnie Fenske, 83, of 1623 South 13th street, Manitowoc, died Thursday night at Holy Family hospital after an illness of two weeks. Mrs. Meyer was born in 1887 in the town of Liberty, the daughter of the late Mr.and Mrs. August Fenske. She was married to Mr. Meyer in 1910 and the couple settled on a farm in Liberty until 1944. A resident of Manitowoc for the last six years, Mrs. Meyer was a former member of the Ladies Aid society of Trinity Lutheran church, Liberty Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. NICKOLSINE "NICKY" MEYER Cemetery #43 From the Herald Times Reporter, Monday, Oct. 20, 2003 Nickolsine "Nicky" Meyer, age 91, of North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc, formerly of 1118 Grand Ave., Manitowoc, entered eternal rest Saturday evening, Oct. 18, 2003, at North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Camillus Janas, O.F.M., with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Nicky was born Oct. 12, 1911 at Manitowoc. She was the daughter of Classina Ollinger Philippsen. She attended St. Boniface Catholic Grade School and Lincoln High School, graduating with the class of 1930. She continued her education and graduated from the Bureau of Nursing in Milwaukee and Highland Park Hospital in Illinois in 1934. She was employed for Dr. Arthur Stueck for many years and Memorial Hospital in Sheboygan. Nicky also had attended the Conservatory of Music for a number of years. She was married to Roman M. Meyer in 1946, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church by Rev. Henry Letz. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1997. Nicky was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Ladies Parish Council and the Manitowoc Senior Citizens Silver Tones. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, two grandsons, one brother and sister-in-law, one sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Roman in 1997. NICOLAUS MEYER cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 26 Jan. 1905: Death in Manitowoc Rapids on Wed. last week, of 81-yr. old Claus Meyer with burial on Saturday. ******* From Der Nord Westen, 02 Feb. 1905: Last week we reported the 18 Jan. death of Nicolaus Meyer, a resident of Town Manitowoc Rapids, but did not print biographical material which was not yet in our hands. Nicolaus Meyer was born 06 Dec. 1823 in Grand Duchy Baden. As a young man of 25 he came to America in 1848, traveling on to Manitowoc County where he settled in Town Kossuth at a time when it was still just a wilderness and was populated by more Indians than whites. He established a farm with all of the trials which pioneer life then entailed and which the present generation is unable to appreciate. He operated the farm until 13 yrs. ago when he retired and went to live with his son-in-law, Jacob Braun in Manitowoc Rapids. His wife, with whom he lived happily over 50 yrs, preceded him in death 12 yrs. ago. He leaves 3 sons and a daughter (the wife of the above mentioned Jacob Braun). NICOLAUS MEYER cemetery #43 From Der Nord Westen, 18 Mar. 1909: A heart attack on Monday morning took the life of Nic Meyer, a well-known and esteemed citizen of our community, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Radski on South 15th Street. Mr. Meyer was sick last month but had gotten better and Monday morning ate his breakfast with good appetite. However, when he stood up he suffered a stroke and died before the doctor could arrive. The deceased was 77 years old and previously had successfully operated a farm on the road to Neshoto, which he had to give up 10 years ago because of advancing age, and he and his wife went to live with their above named daughter. In addition to his widow he is survived by several grown children. The funeral will be held this morning from St. Boniface Church.


ORRIN W. MEYER cemetery #44 Orrin W. Meyer, 59, of 220 Saratoga St., Chilton, died Sunday at Calumet Memorial Hospital, following a three months' illness. OTTO MEYER From Der Nord Westen, 12 Apr. 1906: Otto Meyer, who lived on his farm near the southern city limits and was a wellknown citizen of our county, was found dead in his bed Monday(09 April) morning. A stroke had brought his life to an end during the night. The deceased, who was 63, leaves 8 children, his wife having preceded him in death many years ago. The funeral was held yesterday.


OVILA MEYER NELSON 2ND HUSBAND NELSON Mrs. John Nelson, 63, of R. 1, Manitowoc, died Friday of an apparent stroke at Rhinelander where she was vacationing. The former Ovila Rautmann, she was born Aug. 14, 1906, in the Town of Meeme, a daughter of the late Julius and Louise Wilke Rautmann. She married Clarence Meyer, Dec. 23, 1926. He died in 1948. On Jan. 4, 1956, she married John Nelson. He died May 4, 1956. Surviving are three sons, three daughters, 17 grandchildren; three brothers, Oscar of Sheboygan, Edwin and Armie or rural Kiel and two sisters, Mrs. George Fessler of School Hill and Mrs. William Voss of rural Kiel. He had suffered a stroke last Thursday. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9:30 from St. Gregory's Catholic Church in St. Nazianz. The body may be viewed at the home until the time of the services. Survivors are the widow, five daughters, two sisters and a brother.


RALPH T. MEYER Ralph T. Meyer, age 92, formerly of Kiel and a resident of Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein died Monday evening. He was born November 13, 1913 in the town of Centerville, son of the late Charles R. & Mary V. Schneider Meyer. He was a graduate of SS Peter & Paul Grade School. On June 30, 1942 he married Sylvia R. Schwoerer at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. She preceded him in death after 56 years of marriage on December 1, 1998. On December 7, 1942 he was drafted into the Army. Ralph was a member of the 101st airborne 327th Glider Infantry Regiment. In September of 1943 he embarked to England for advanced training. He landed in France as part of the Normandy Invasion. He received 3 Bronze Stars for battles he fought in. On September 19, 1944 as part of the Market Garden Operation in Holland the glider that he was in was hit by enemy fire. The pilot was killed causing the glider to crash into a tree. Injured from the crash, he was captured by German soldiers and transported in a railroad box car to Moosburg, Germany (Stalig 7-A). He was liberated from the prison camp on April 30th, 1945. On October 1st, 1945, after attaining the rank of Corporal he was discharged from Camp McCoy. Ralph worked for AA Laun Furniture Factory, Kiel in the finishing department for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel and a former member of the church choir. He was also a charter member of the Kiel VFW Post 6707 and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Ralph was an avid Cubs & Packer fan. Survivors include his children, and one son-in-law. He is further survived by 14 grandchildren & one step-grandchild. Survivors also include two sisters, two brothers, two brothers-in-law, & a sister-in-law. He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter, Brenda Schweitzer, one brother, Henry Meyer, four sisters, Florence Seichter, Sr. Alice Meyer, Gertie Muehlbauer, Romilda Stemper, one grandson, Jacob Shackleton and one great grandson, Samuel Kraus. ROBERT MEYER cemetery #90 Robert W. Meyer, 78, of 1605 N. 17th St., Sheboygan, formerly of Manitowoc County, died at home Thursday morning after a several months illness. Funeral services will be at St. John United Church of Christ, town of Herman, the Rev. E. L. Henning officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Meyer was born Feb. 24, 1886, in the town of Meeme, son of the late George and Karoline Schreiber Meyer. He attended Pigeon River District School. He married Alma Sempf of the town of Meeme April 3, 1910, at St. John Church. The couple farmed in North Dakota five years and then located on the Meyer home farm which it operated until retirement in 1963, moving to Sheboygan. The couple observed its golden wedding in 1960. He was a church deacon for ten years, member of the church choir for 40 years, served on the Pigeon River School Board, was a director for 25 years of the Cleveland Shipping Assn. and a charter member of Manitowoc county Farm Bureau. Survivors are the wife, three sons, Alfred, of rural Kiel, Elmer, of Ada and Willard, of Oshkosh, a daughter, Mrs. Harold Kolb, of Cleveland, a sister, Mrs. Arthur Olm of Sheboygan Falls, 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. THEODORE MEYER cemetery #55 Theodore J. Meyer, 63, of Grimms, died Wednesday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, following a short illness. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Reedsville Funeral Home, and 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church at Maple Grove. The Rev. Alois Pimeskern will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Meyer was born Dec. 14, 1896, at St. Nazianz, son of Matthew and Katherine Wagner Meyer. On Oct. 12, 1922, he married the former Ella Collins at Maple Grove. He operated a garage in Grimms for the past 33 years and was a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, three sons, mother, Mrs. Katherine Meyer; a sister, Mrs. William Adelmann of Manitowoc; three brothers, Albert, Elmer and Alphonse of Manitowoc; and 12 grandchildren. THEODORE MEYER cemetery #84 Theodore F. Meyer, 67, of 728 North St., Kiel, a retired Town of Meeme, Manitowoc County, farmer, died suddenly at the Town of Mosel farm home of his daughter, Mrs. Hamilton Strowig, Wednesday. Mr. Meyer, who had not been ill previously, was helping his son-in-law with the grain harvest. He had been operating the binder during the day and was stricken with a heart attack near the house in the late afternoon. He died immediately. Born in the Town of Meeme, Oct. 14, 1888, he was a son of the late William and Ernestina Buchholz Meyer. He attended district school in Meeme and later went to Mission House College for a year. On April 15, 1913 he married the former Anita Prueter of Schleswig. The couple operated a farm south of School Hill until Mr. Meyer’s retirement eight years ago when they moved to Kiel. During his years on the farm, Mr. Meyer operated a boat concession and rented summer cottages on Horseshoe Lake, located on his property. Mrs. Meyer died the past May. Surviving, in addition to the daughter, Mrs. Strowig (Ruth), are three sons, Harold of Kiel, Willard of the home farm, and Milton of Meeme; and five grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, William, Sheboygan. He was preceded in death by two sisters, a brother and four grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Louis Corners, with the Rev. William Hartwig, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rockville Cemetery. THEODORE MEYER cemetery #90 Theodore H. Meyer, 74, of 1002 Bell Ave., a retired Manitowoc county farmer, died Saturday afternoon after being stricken with an apparent heart attack. He was born Oct. 16, 1895 in the town of Meeme (Manitowoc County), a son of the late John and Bertha Meyer and attended the Pigeon River district school. He was baptized and confirmed in St. John’s United Church of Christ in the Town of Herman. On June 16, 1921, he was married to Laura Olm of the Town of Meeme in St. John’s Church, and the couple settled on the Meyer homestead farm. He died in November, 1956. Mr. Meyer moved to Sheboygan in 1961 and lived with his sister, Mrs. Emma Blanke. He was a member of St. John’s Church, the Senior Citizen’s Club, and the Friendship Club of Sheboygan. He was a former board member of the Pigeon River School and a former director of the Ada fire department. Survivors include two sons, (private), and (private); six grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Blanke. He was preceded in death by his wife; three sisters, and two brothers. THERESIA MEYER cemetery #21 Mrs. Theresia Meyer, 77, of St Nazianz, life long resident of the county, died Thursday at the Holy Family hospital. Funeral services will be held at 9:30am Saturday at St Gregory's Catholic Church,St Nazianz, with burial in the church cemetery. She was born Theresia Knier in Eaton in 1872 and 57 years ago was married to Michael Meyer. They located on a farm in Liberty. Mr. Meyer died nine years ago since which time Mrs. Meyer resided in St Nazianz. VICTOR G. MEYER cemetery #34 Victor G. Meyer Sr., 72, of Rt. 2, Manitowoc, died Sunday afternoon at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, where he had been a patient three weeks. Mr. Meyer was born Jan. 17, 1893, in the Town of Kossuth, son of the late Joseph and Rose Chloupek Meyer. He farmed in Kossuth most of his life. He was a Manitowoc resident all his life. He married Theresa Schrimpf April 20, 1908, in the Town of Kossuth, He had been employed at Mirro Aluminum Co., Manitowoc, as a blacksmith for 35 years, retiring in 1953. Mrs. Meyer preceded him in death Nov. 3, 1962. He was a member of Mirro Retirement Club. WILHELMINE MEYER cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 30 Aug. 1900: Death Thurs. last week of Mrs. Joachim Meyer of stomach cancer following a long and difficult illness. Mrs. Meyer, who was 53 years of age, came to America with her parents in 1857 and settled with them here in Manitowoc. She leaves her sorrowing husband but no children. The funeral was held Sun. afternoon.


WILLIAM MEYER cemetery #82 Last week Thursday at 1:00 a.m., a long time resident and well known citizen of Kiel passed away, namely: Wilhelm Meyer. The cause of death was kidney disease from which he had suffered for many years. About a week before he died he had caught cold, and was so ill that he could not leave his home. Mr. Meyer first saw the light of the world in Mardorf, Hannover, Germany on November 18, 1847 and had reached the age of 64 years and 5 months. As a young boy of 15 years he immigrated to America from Germany to apprentice as a miller in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. There after he worked for many years as a miller in Thiensville, where he married Christine Zaun, and the marriage was blessed with eight children, four of which died in their youth. Later Mr. Meyer moved to Glenbeulah in Sheboygan County where he ran the mill with Mr. Bauernfeind. He gave up the business and moved to Millhome in this county. There he purchased Mr. Hollensteiner's share of the mill and soon thereafter, the shares of Mr. Schunk and Laun. In 1882 he moved to Kiel and built a mill that he operated quite profitably for about 20 years. After he sold the mill, he settled into a well-deserved retirement. The deceased leaves behind his wife and four children: Mrs. Rud. Greve and Mrs. John Freiss of Kiel, Henry L. Meyer in Hilbert and Elmer Meyer who is studying at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Additionally he leaves behind two sisters in America and one brother and sister in Germany. CARL H. MEYERS cemetery #44 Carl H. Meyers, age 92, entered eternal rest at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law in Oshkosh on Tuesday evening, Dec. 5, 2006. Carl was born Aug. 30, 1914, in Manitowoc. He was the son of the late Carl F. and Amanda Wilke Meyers. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1931 and continued his education at Ripon College. He owned and operated "C" Meyers 4 Tires located at 10th and Division streets in Manitowoc until he retired. On Nov. 24, 1938, he married Phyllis Johnson at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death Sept. 9, 1987. Carl was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church where he had served as treasurer of the church for several terms. He had also been on the first board of directors at Manitowoc Lutheran High School. In past years Carl had been a member and past president of the Wisconsin Retail Gasoline Dealers Association and formerly a member of the Manitowoc Lions club. CLEMENS P. MEYERS cemetery #83 Clemens P. Meyers, 69, of 511 Calumet Ave., Kiel, died late Saturday at St. Nicholas Hospital. Born Dec. 26, 1897, at Charlesburg, he was a son of the late Leonard and Mary Meyers. He attended St. Charles Catholic School and was married on June 12, 1928, to Lucille Werth of New Holstein at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein. The couple lived in Charlesburg until 1942 when they moved to Kiel. Mr. Meyers was employed at the H.G. Weber Co. and Stoelting Bros. Co. and for the past five years was self-employed as a painter. Mr. Meyers was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. MARY MEZERA cemetery #89D In failing health for a number of years, Mrs. Wenzel Mezera, 75, 1614 18th St., Two Rivers, wife of a widely known retired wagon maker, died at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital at 8:30 p.m. Monday, where she had been taken only an hour before. Hospitalized for 20 days, she was taken home a week ago. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Beduhn, Deja & Martin Inc. Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and at 9 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, the Rev. John Schmitt officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. Mrs. Mezera, nee Mary Nuhlicek, was born in the Town of Carlton, Kewaunee County, in 1877, daughter of the late John and Mary Stibor Nuhlicek. She was married at Norman 56 years ago to Wenzel Mezera of the Town of Carlton. After their marriage the couple moved to Denmark where her husband operated a blacksmith and wagon making shop for four yers. Fifty years ago they came to Two Rivers where Mezera became wagon maker for the A. Baetz & Son firm. Surviving Mrs. Mezera are her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Edward Ciha of Two Rivers, a son, John W. Mezera of Two Rivers; a sister, Mrs. Wenzel Ciha of Two Rivers; and a brother, Joseph Nuhlicek of Two Rivers. There are five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
