Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. Richard Weber officiating. Burial will be in Forest View Cemetery. Mrs. Mahlik, nee Ernestine Menges, was born Sept. 18, 1914, at Two Rivers, daughter of the late Henry and Mrs. Ada Schwarz Menges. She was married at St. John Church May 30, 1970, to Robert Mahlik. She had been an employe of Paragon Electric Co., Inc., Two Rivers. Besides her husband and mother she leaves a son, two stepdaughters, two stepsons, four sisters, Mrs. Eugene Peroutka of Rt. 2, Two Rivers, Mrs. Richard Bosley of Milwaukee and Mrs. Joseph Jebavy and Mrs. Elmer Petrashek of Two Rivers; six brothers, Albert and Arnold Menges of Milwaukee and Barnhardt, Henry, Harold and Randolph Menges of Two Rivers and nine grandchildren. JEROME E. MAHLIK cemetery #89D Jerome Mahlik, 43, of 1426 Hawthorne Ave., Two Rivers, died Sunday morning at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mark Catholic Church, the Rev. Michael Koch officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. Mr. Mahlik was born Jan. 29, 1928, at Two Rivers, a son of Bernard and Theresa Mahlik. He attended St. Mark Parochial School and was graduated from Washington High School with the class of 1945. He entered the Armed Forces in 1946 serving a year and a half with the Army. An employe of the C. Reiss Coal, Co., he was a member of Mother of Hope Council No. 1957, Knights of Columbus, St. Mark Holy Name Men's Council, and the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin. He married the former Cleo Duval at Two Rivers Sept. 3, 1949. Besides his parents and wife he leaves four daughters, five sons (Survivors omitted for privacy.); two sisters, Mrs. Ned Swetlik and Mrs. Karl Kaufmann of Two Rivers, and four brothers, Bernard Jr., Donald, James and Robert of Two Rivers. ANITA MAHLOCH cemetery #82 Mrs. Anita Mahloch, 71, of Howards Grove-Millersville, died early Sunday morning at St. Nicholas Hospital where she had been a patient for the last four weeks. Mrs. Mahloch was born in Kiel on Feb. 18, 1898, the daugher of the late Herman and Mary Jaschob. On Sept. 27, 1919, she married Martin Mahloch, of the Town of Schleswig. The couple settled on a farm in that township. Mr. Mahloch died in May of 1956, and she moved to Howards Grove-Millersville. Survivors include a son, Wyatt, of Plymouth; one daughter, Mrs. Edgar (Irene) Binder, Elkhart Lake; two grandsons, one sister, Mrs. Lorena Arpke, Howards Grove-Millersville; and two borhters, Alvin Jaschob, Sheboygan, and Edward Jaschob, Kiel. One daughter, two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, with the Rev. William Bender, pastor of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Town of Herman, officiating. Burial will be in the Kiel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.


ANNA MAHLOCH cemetery #56 Kiel, Wis—(Special)—Mrs. Anna Mahloch, 84, widow of the late George Mahloch, died suddenly Thursday night at the home of her son-in-law, Anton Meyer, in the town of Herman. Nee Staudigal, she was born in the town of Meeme, on Oct. 8, 1855, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Staudigal. She married George Mahloch on June 14, 1874, and the couple moved to a farm in the town of Meeme. In 1904 they sold the farm to Anton Meyer, with whom they lived until 1918, when they purchased a home near the Liberty Pole in the town of Meeme. Mr. Mahloch died in 1937 and the daughter, Mrs. Anton Meyer, died in 1925. After the death of her husband she lived with her son, Louis, in the town of Meeme and then with Anton Meyer. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Paul Traeger, Sutton, Nebr., two sons, Louis, town of Meeme, and William of Chicago, nine grand- children and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the C. J. Meiselwitz Funeral home and at the Bethel Reformed church, town of Herman, the Rev. William Bollmann officiating, with interment in the church cemetery. ANNIE MAHLOCH cemetery #83 From Der Nord Westen, 22 June 1905: Death Mon. evening last week of Mrs. Jakob Maloch in Kiel on her way home from a short walk. She had left the house to walk toward the mill dam and fell unconscious to the ground. Her husband, Jakob Maloch, went to join her and found her body. Maloch is an old veteran, and they had formerly lived on a farm near Kiel before he retired about 2 yrs. ago. Each is about 65 and they have a number of children and grandchildren. CARL MAHLOCH (not in Manitowoc cemetery) Carl Mahloch, 80, Dies At Kiel Home; Rites Wednesday Carl Mahloch, 80, passed away at his home in Kiel at 8:20 a.m. today after a two weeks' illness. He was born July 21, 1857, in the town of Rhine where he married Miss Helena Gerlach April 8, 1883. The couple located on a farm in the town of Rhine for 23 years and for some time after that they made their home in New Holstein. For 10 years they resided on a farm in the town of Schleswig which is now owned by their son, Martin. For the past eight years they have lived at Kiel in their present home. Seven children were born to them and one daughter, Ella, died at the age of four. Survivors are Mrs. Mahloch and six children, Mrs. Louis Brieske of Elkhart Lake; Mrs. Edward Michels of Brillion; Mrs. Erich Temmreck of the town of Schleswig; Mrs. Edwin Lueloff of Kiel; Phillip of the state of Washington, and Martin on the homestead; two brothers, John of Collins and Christian of this city; two sisters, Mrs. Caroline Wolff of the town of Rhine, and Mrs. Nettie Gerlach of Elkhart Lake, and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the C.J. Meiselwitz Funeral Home at Kiel by the Rev. O.J. Saewert of Elkhart Lake and burial will be made in the town of Rhine cemetery. CARL MAHLOCH cemetery #21 Carl P. Mahloch, aged 75, a resident of Sheboygan for the past four years, passed away at his home at 6 p.m. on Friday. Mr. Mahloch was born in the town of Schleswig in 1870, and prior to going to Sheboygan in 1942, had resided in Kiel, Elkharg Lake, St. Nazianz, Manitowoc and Brillion. Survivors include his wife, the former Margaret Anhalt; four daughters, Mrs. Ed (Eulalia) Karger, Chicago, Mrs. Joseph (Cora) Groll, Manitowoc, Mrs. Fred (Margaret) Weinberger, R.4, Manitowoc, and Mrs. Erwin (Marcella) Gross, Sheboygan; five sons, Raymond, Manitowoc; John, Valders; Gilbert, R.4, Manitowoc, and Isadore and Carl, Jr., Appleton. Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Anna Jacobi of Greenwood and Mrs. Katherine Junk of Kiel, and two brothers, Jacob Mahloch of Delleforch, S.D., and John Mahloch of Kiel. Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at 10 a.m. at the St. Gregory Catholic church at St. Nazianz, with the Rev. Fintan Holzknecht officiating. Burial was made in St. Nazianz. Mrs. Anna Jacobi and Mr. and Mrs. John Jacobi of Greenwood attended the funeral from out of town. HUBERT J. MAHLOCH cemetery #83 Hubert Mahloch, Of Kiel, Called; Services Tuesday. Kiel. -(Special)- Hubert J. Mahloch, 22, died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Mahloch, one mile west of here, Saturday afternoon at 4:15 o'clock. He had been ill since Jan. 2. He was born Dec. 23, 1919 in this city, and attended SS. Peter and Paul parochial school. Survivors are his parents, three brothers and three sisters (names omitted for privacy). Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock at the Meiselwitz Funeral home and at 10 o'clock at SS. Peter and Paul church with burial in the church cemetery. Mahloch War Veteran Dies Saturday Last Local Survivor of Civil War succumbs at Daughters Home Funeral services for Jacob Mahloch, the only remaining Kiel Civil War veteran, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Junk, here, were held on Tuesday morning in military style. Brief services were held at the home at 9:30 followed by a ten o’clock mass at the Sts. Peter and Paul church, the Rev. Fr. A. Roder officiating. Burial was made in the Kiel cemetery, with the American Legion Kasper Post No. 99 having charge. The A. E. Hansen Woman’s Relief Corps No. 95 of New Holstein of which Mr. Mahloch was an honorary member, the Sons of Veteran’s Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary of Kiel marched to the cemetery to attend the rites. Mr. Mahloch, the son of Carl and Anna Mahloch was born September 1, 1845 in Deanheim Hessen Darmstadt, Germany. His family immigrated to this country when he was seven years old and settled on a farm in the town of Schleswig. On November 16, 1869 he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Marie Lucas of Germany at Sheboygan. For the next twenty years of their life the couple lived on a farm at Rockville. Mrs. Mahloch died twenty-five years ago. Eight children were born to the couple 2 of which preceded him in death. One daughter, Clara, died in 1897, and a son, William, died April 2, 1924. Those who survive are three daughters: Mrs. John Junk of this city, Mrs. Fred Jacobi of Granton, and Mrs. Margaret Bates of Schobenier, Illinois; and three sons, Carl of Manitowoc, John, residing near Kiel; and Jacob of Nisland, South Dakota. Other survivors are thirty-five grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, a brother George of the town of Meeme; and the following sisters, Mrs. Minnie Wagenknecht of Plymouth, Mrs. Mary Thielen of Manitowoc, Mrs. Kate Russell of Butternut, Mrs. Caroline Dankwardt of Thorp, and Mrs. Dora Schwalenberg of Plymouth. Mr. Mahloch enlisted in Company H 26th Wisconsin Infantry on August 14, 1862 and served in the Civil War until June 12, 1865, when he received his honorable discharge. He was the sole survivor of the G. A. R. Post No. 190, and honorary member of the local Kasper Post No. 99 of the American Legion, and an honorary member of the New Holstein Women’s Relief Corps No. 95. Among the battles which Mr. Mahloch participated during the Civil War were the Battle of Lookout Mountain on November 23, 1863; the Battle of Rosaca, May 15, 1864; the Battle of Averyboro, March 16, 1865; and the Battle of Bentonville, March 18, 1865. He was believed to have been the last of the Town Rhine Civil War veterans and he had a great war record. JOHN J. MAHLOCH cemetery #83 John T. Mahloch, 69, a blacksmith residing a mile west of Kiel in New Holstein, Calumet County, died Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, and at 10 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. The Rev. F. X. Kheil will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. He was born in Schleswig in 1885 and in 1911 married Miss Lydia Richter. They located in Elkhart Lake and later moved to Kiel. Twenty eight years ago he set up his blacksmith shop. Mrs. Mahloch died in 1950. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Paul Garbe of Kiel, Mrs. Robert Schweitzer of Eaton and Mrs. Emro Lemke of rural route, Chilton; three sons, Jacob of New Holstein, Walter of Plymouth and Herbert of Newton; two sisters, Mrs. John Junk of Kiel and Mrs. Fred Jacobi of Greenwood, Wis.; and 19 grandchildren Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 pm: Friday. The Rosary will be recited at the church at 7:30 p.m. Friday by the Holy Name Society, of which he was a member.


LYDIA MAHLOCH cemetery #83 Mrs. John Mahloch, 60, nee Lydia Richter, passed away early this morning at her home one mile west of Kiel, following a lingering illness. Born in the town of Mosel on March 10, 1890, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Richter, she attended school there and later moved to Rhine Center with her parents. She was marriedd to John Mahloch of Rockville on September 13, 1911, and they resided in Kiel for a time and for the last 23 years on the present farm in the town of Holstein. She was a member of the G.U.G. society. Survivors are her husband; three daughters and three sons (names omitted for privacy); 12 grandchildren; a brother, Charles Richter of Rhine Center; four sisters, Mrs. Clara Zaeske of Leonard, N.D., Mrs. Anna Prigge of Cleveland, Mrs. Martin Boeldt of Howards Grove and Mrs. George Meyer of Kiel. Three children preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Meiselwitz Funeral home at Kiel and at 10 o'clock at the St. Peter and Paul Catholic church, with the Rev. F.X. Kheil officiating. MARGARET MAHLOCH cemetery #21 Mrs. Margaret Mahloch, 92, a former Sheboygan resident, widow of Charles, died Thursday afternoon in Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where she had been a resident. She leaves 128 direct descendants. The former Margaret Anhalt, was born July 2, 1880, in Manitowoc County, a daughter of the late John and Barabara Knier Anhalt. She was married to Mr. Mahloch on April 22, 1902, in Kiel. He died Dec. 27, 1946. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Edulilia Karger, of Hoffman Estates, Ill., Mrs. Margaret Weinberger, Manitowoc, and Mrs. Erwin (Marcella) Gross, Sheboygan; four sons, Gilbert, Manitowoc, John, St. Nazianz, Isadore, Shawano, and Carl, Appleton; 37 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son and daughter, four brothers, eight sisters and a great-grandchild. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc, with the Rev. MARION MAHLOCH AND EUDINE PAGEL cemetery #82 Hold Last Rites Here For Eudine Pagel, Miss Mahloch Joint funeral services for the Misses Marian(sic) Mahloch and Eudine Pagel, tragedy victims on Monday evening, December 23rd , near this city, were held from the Meiselwitz Funeral Home on Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The funeral home was crowded to capacity by about 350 sorrowing relatives, friends and neighbors of both families. The Rev. Mr. Voss, who is taking a post graduate course at the Mission House, near Franklin, officiated at the services, and is serving the First Presbyterian church as substitute pastor. The Rev. Voss chose his sermon topic from the 39th Psalm, the 4th verse, as follows: “Lord, Make Me To Know Mine End, and the Measure of My Days, What It Is: That I may Know How Frail I Am.” And the 23rd Psalm, “The Lord Is My Shepherd.” Mrs. Edwin M. Duecker and Melvin C. Timm sang “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere,” and “Does Jesus Care”? with Mr Timm as piano accompanist. The pallbearers for Eudine were six of her graduating class of last year: Clarence Goebel, Erland Lawrence, Norwood Phillips, John Christel, Norman Reichart, and Norbert Horneck. Pallbearers for Marian were six members of her sophomore class here last year: Arthur Kaemmer, Jr., Lloyd Zick, Kenneth Kraft, Elmer Schneider, Roger Schaefer, and Dale Green. Numerous beautiful floral tributes were sent by friends, relatives, neighbors and classes of the Kiel high school. Burial for Marian was made in the Kiel cemetery, while burial for Eudine, was make in the Rockville cemetery, in the respective family resting places. The Meiselwitz Funeral Home was visited by many friends of the two tragedy victims from Thursday afternoon up until the hour of the services on Friday. People travelled many miles to attend the double funeral. - 1935


MARTIN H. MAHLOCH cemetery #82 Martin H. Mahloch, 61, of Rt. 2, Kiel, died suddenly Friday morning at his home. He was born July 23, 1895, in the Town of Rhine, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mahloch. Sept. 27, 1919, he married the former Annita Jaschob of Kiel and settled on his present farm in the Town of Schleswig. He was a World War I veteran and a member of the Kasper-Beckley-Wilkens American Legion Post No. 99, the Redmen Lodge of Manitowoc Tribe No. 49 and also of the Twenty-Four Hour Club. Survivors are his wife, a son Wyatt of the Town of Schleswig; a daughter, Mrs. Edgar (Irene) Binder of Elkhart Lake; a grandson; a brother, Philip, and four sisters, Mrs. Louis Brieske of Elkhart Lake, Mrs. Edward Michels of Brillion, Mrs. Erich Temreck of New Holstein, and Mrs. Edwin Lueloff of Manitowoc. ROLAND MAHLOCH cemetery #83 Roland, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. John Mahloch, died Sunday afternoon, aged six years. The boy succumbed to a severe attack of infantile paralysis. The funeral was held Tuesday morning from the home, Rev. Rumpel officiating, interment being at the church cemetery. - 1918


ALBERT JOHANN CHRISTIAN MAHNKE cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 02 Aug. 1894: Death on Mon., 30 July of Albert Johann Christian Mahnke, son of South 8th Street resident, widow Louise Mahnke, of typhus. The deceased was born 23 Feb. 1869. His funeral took place yesterday afternoon under the direction of Pastor Machmueller. The Rankin Guard, to which the deceased belonged, gave him the last salute.


ARTHUR J. MAHNKE cemetery #44 Arthur J. Mahnke, 76, of 1330 S. Ninth St., Manitowoc, died Friday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. N.W. Kock will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Mahnke was born at Manitowoc Dec. 24, 1895, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mahnke. He married Ranetta Plautz Sept. 16, 1925. She died June 14, 1971. Mr. Mahnke was a United States mail carrier. Following his retirement 14 years ago, he served as Manitowoc County deputy sheriff. He served in World War I and was a member of American Legion Drews-Bleser Post No. 88. He was also a member of the National Association of Lettercarriers. Surviving are a brother, Walter, of Manitowoc; a sister, Mrs. Paula Gerphiede, of Pasadena, Calif.; a niece and a nephew (Survivors names omitted for privacy.) and other nieces and nephews. CHRISTIAN MAHNKE From Der Nord Westen, 01 June 1905: Death at 7 a.m. Wed. in Reedsville, quite unexpectedly, of Christ Mahnke of Manitowoc. Mr. Mahnke fell ill with pneumonia in Feb. but had recovered to the point where the doctor gave him permission to visit his brother in Reedsville. There he suffered a relapse and death overtook him. Christ Mahnke was born 03 Sep. 1855 in Kittendorf, Mecklenburg-Schwerin. He came to America with his parents in 1865 and settled in Manitowoc where he has lived ever since. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. L.H. Koeninger will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. He was born in Manitowoc in 1880 and in 1909 married Miss Mollie Puls of Sheboygan. They located in Milwaukee and three years later moved to Manitowoc. For 28 years he was employed as a machinist at the Rahr Malting Company, retiring in 1953. He was a past president and honorary member of Machinist's Local No. 516 and an honorary member of the choir of the First German Lutheran Church. His wife died in 1934. Surviving are a son, Marvin of Manitowoc; daughter, Mrs. Erwin Engelbrecht of Manitowoc; two brothers, Oscar of Racine and Eugene of Chicago; and a sister, Mrs. Lewster Lewis of Los Angeles. The cause of his death was consumption and he had suffered therefrom for 14 years. He was born in Mecklenburg-Schweren, May 4, 1854 and came to this country with his parents when a boy. His parents formerly resided in this city and he waa a brother-in-law of Harry Wilsman of this city and of Henry Rohmlow who lives just west of this city. He leaves a wife and two daughters, one of the daughters being married. JOHN L. MAHNKE (d. 1939) cemetery #44 John Mahnke, 59, a mail carrier here for 33 years, died Saturday afternoon at the St. Agnes hospital, Fond du Lac. He recently underwent an operation there. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., from the home, 1126 South Seventh street, and at two from the First German Evangelical Lutheran church, the Rev. L.H. Koeninger officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen cemetery. Mr. Mahnke was born in this city in 1880 and attended the old First ward school. In 1902 he became a mail carrier and carried south side routes for 33 years. He retired four years ago because of failing health. In 1907 he married Miss Minnie Wernecke.
