LAWRENCE W. LOCKHART cemetery #44 Lawrence Lockhart, 70, of 844 Summit St., Manitowoc, died Friday afternoon at Park Lawn Nursing Home, Manitowoc, where he had been a patient for 2 1/2 years. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Paul Methodist Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Donald Stannard will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Lockhart was born Aug. 2, 1901, at Frankfort, Mich., son of the late Adam Lockhart and Josephine Lockhart. He graduated from high school at Frankfort and then served in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years. He then moved to Chicago. He married Elfrieda Hoffman Aug. 3, 1925 and the couple resided in Chicago until 1939 when they moved to Manitowoc. Mr. Lockhart worked as a butcher in many stores in Manitowoc, the most recent being Stangels Super Valu where he was forced to leave due to ill health. Mr. Lockhart was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church, the United Commercial Travelers and the Manitowoc Masonic Lodge No. 65 F. & A.M. Survivors include his wife, his mother, Mrs. Josephine Lockhart of Frankfort, a son, a daughter, a brother, Ray of Jackson, Mich., a sister, Miss Ina Lockhart of Frankfort, three grandchildren and nieces and nephews. MARY LODEL cemetery #18 Mary Lodel, 73, of Maribel died Friday morning of a heart atack at Seattle, Wash., while enroute by train with her son S-Sgt. Henry Lodel to his home at Tacoma, Wash. They left Manitowoc Wednesday. Funeral services will be at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, and at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville, with the Rt. Rev. Msg. Joseph Kalusek officiating. Burial will be in parish cemetery. She was born Nov. 8, 1887, in the Town of Gibson, daughter of the late Anton and Rose Forst Lodel and was a lifelong resident of Manitowoc County. Surviving in addition to her son are a brother, John Lodel, of Rt. 1, Maribel and four grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death. HENRY LOEH Cemetery #63 Funeral services for Henry Loeh Sr., lifelong Town of Gibson resident who died Wednesday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mishicot, the Rev. David Worgull officiating. Interment will be in Mishicot Public Cemetery. Mr. Loeh was born March 1, 1874, in the Town of Gibson, a son of the late Henry and Elizabeth Fischer Loeh. He married the former Christine Klindt at Maribel May 17, 1874(ERROR), after which the couple settled on the homestead farm of the Loehs. The couple retired from farming in 1949. His wife preceded him in death six years ago. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Leonard Pautz of R. 1, Maribel, Three sons, Norman and Henry M. of Rt. 1, Mishicot and Ervin of Greenleaf. GEORGE LOESSL George Loessl, 89, formerly of St. Nazianz, died Thursday evening at Family Heritage Home, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 9:45 a.m. Monday at Christianson-Deja Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. The Rev. Cyril Dickrell will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Mr. Loessl was born June 24, 1886, in Germany, son of the late Nicholas and Anna Loessl. He attended school in Germany. He married Ida Loos July 26, 1920, at St. Nazianz. He was a retired farmer and gardner at St. Mary Convent, St. Nazianz. Mrs. Loessl preceded him in death in 1964. Survivors include a son, three daughters, a sister, Sister Crypriana, of St. Mary Convent, Milwaukee, 13 grandchildren and a great grand- child. Brothers and sisters preceded him in death. IDA LOESSL cemetery #21 Mrs. George Loessl, 70, of St. Nazianz died Thursday at her home after being stricken with a heart attack. Born April 15, 1894 in the Town of Schleswig, she was a daughter of the late Mathias and Theresa Loos. She attended schools in St. Nazianz and Kiel and on July 26, 1920 married George Loessl at St. Nazianz. ANNA LOGAN cemetery #55 From Der Nord Westen, 21 Oct. 1909: Death from a heart attack last week of Mrs. Anna Logan, wife of John D. Logan in Centerville, at the age of 42 years 8 months. The body was taken to Maple Grove and buried there.


CHARLES G. LOGAN cemetery #55 Charles G. Logan, 58, of 924 Commercial St., Manitowoc, died late Wednesday morning at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Mittnacht Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic church. The Rev. Claude LeClair will officiate and burial will be in St. Patrick Church Cemetery, Maple Grove. Graveside military rites will be by Otto Oas Post 659, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Logan was born Dec. 29, 1905, in the Town of Cato, son of the late Charles J. Logan and Mary O'Connell Logan. He attended St. Patrick School, Maple Grove, and Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, graduating in 1924. He and his twin brother Joseph, who died Oct. 22, 1963, were members of the 1924 Lincoln High School basketball team, champions of Fox Valley and the first local team to play in the state basketball tournament at Madison. Mr. Logan was employed for short periods at Lauerman Co., Two Rivers and Marinette, and O. Torrison Co. and Seibel Clothing Store, Manitowoc. The past 25 years, until recently, he had been employed in the men's clothing department of Sears Roebuck & Co., Manitowoc. He never married. Mr. Logan was a member of VFW and Drews-Bleser Post No. 88, American Legion. During World War II he served with Gen. George Patton's 3rd Armored Division in the European Theater. Surviving are his mother, two brothers, James and Harold, and three sisters, Mrs. Albert J. Burkart, Mrs. Fred J. Rappel and Mrs. Harold L. Schneider, of Manitowoc. Two brothers, John and Joseph, and two sisters, Mrs. Louis J. Meyer and Mrs. Elmer Glihsmann, preceded him in death. HERMAN LOHE cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 04 Oct. 1900: Another old settler of our city died Fri. evening after a long illness. Mr. Herman Lohe, an eminent and well-respected citizen of Manitowoc died of Bright's disease together with old age debility. Mr. Lohe was born 31 Dec. 1823 in Barmen, Rhineland. He came to America in 1857, then in 1858 to Manitowoc where he has lived ever since. He established his meat market in 1859. On 24 Jan. 1861 he married Miss Sophie Reisenbigler, his surviving widow. He is also survived by one son and one daughter, several grandchildren and 3 sisters - Mrs. Goldammer in Milwaukee, Mrs. Fischer in Racine, and Mrs. Teschenmacker in Elberfeld. Mr. Lohe has been ill for the last couple of years and in recent months he became weaker and weaker. His heavily attended funeral took place Mon. from the Lutheran Church.


HELENE LOHE cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 25 Feb. 1897: A 7-mo. child of Fritz Lohe of Manitowoc died Thurs. last week from teething. The burial took place Sun. afternoon in the city cemetery.


HENRY LOHMAN cemetery #89A From Der Nord Westen, 08 Oct. 1896: (From the correspondent in Two Rivers, 04 Oct.) On Sat. the body of 54 yr. old Henry Lohmann, who died in Milwaukee, was brought here for burial on Sun. afternoon. The funeral service was held in the residence of Mr. F. Bohte, and Pastor Davidson delivered the funeral sermon. Mr. Lohmann was born 21 Jan. 1842 near Hamburg. He learned the tanning trade there. When grown, he came to America, settling for a while in Green Bay, then came here to Two Rivers where he founded the tanning firm of H. Lohmann & Co. This business he later sold and took a position in Milwaukee. He leaves a widow and 2 sons – Arthur, bookkeeper in the Hamilton Mfg. Co., and Waldemar, who learned the watch-making trade in a large Milwaukee firm

CHARLOTTE LOHMANN cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 21 July 1904: Death Thurs. morning last week following a long illness of Mrs. Charlotte Lohmann, a longtime resident of our city. Mrs. Lohmann was born in Hanover on 09 Sep. 1829. In Germany she married Heinrich Hemschemeyer and came with her husband to America in 1850. The family settled in Town Newton in this county and underwent all the joys and pains of pioneer life. Her husband died in 1875. Two years later she married Dietrich Lohmann with whom she moved to the City of Manitowoc. Her second husband was overtaken by death in 1888. As the years passed age made her weaker and weaker until the oil in the lamp flickered out on Thurs. morning at 7:30. Mrs. Lohmann is survived by a daughter from her first marriage, Mrs. R.C. Berndt, 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. The funeral was held Sat. afternoon, amid numerous mourners, by Pastor Zenk from the Reformed Church at a graveside ceremony. Mrs. Lohmann had always hoped that the new church bells in that congregation would be installed in the tower by the time of her death, and her wish was fulfilled in that hers was the first funeral for the new bells. ******* From Der Nord Westen, 21 July 1904 (There is a post mortem “thank you ” ad referring to the recent death of “our beloved mother and grandmother Charlotte Lohmann” signed by R. Mr. Long was born June 4, 1892, at Durham, N.C., son of the late James and Emma Pearson Long. He attended schools in North Carolina, coming to Wisconsin in 1924. He married Alma Sachse June 20, 1925, at Manitowoc. He was a veteran of World War I, serving as a private in Co. D. 324th Infantry. He entered the service May 28, 1918, and was discharged June 9, 1919. during World War II, he was a foreman at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc. ELLA M. LONGACRE Cemetery #44 From the Herald Times Reporter, 3 Sept. 2003 Ella Marie Longacre, 84, of Manitowoc, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at the First Presbyterian Church in Manitowoc with the Rev. Christopher Schwab officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Ella Longacre was born Feb. 3, 1919, in Manitowoc. She was the daughter of the late Walter L. and Agusta(sic) Rahr Hamilton. She attended Milwaukee Downer Seminary. She graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. She married Walter B. Longacre, July 19, 1941. Mr. Longacre preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 1991. Ella had a lifelong passion for music. She served her community as a volunteer for the Red Cross during World War II, as a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and as a member of the Junior Service League. Survivors include her children, two sisters and a brother-in-law, 17 grand- children, two greatest grandchildren, and many valuable nieces and nephews, their family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Mary Jane Foster and a grandson, Christopher Mast. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 628 N. Water St., Manitowoc and from noon until the time of services at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church or the Manitowoc Two Rivers YMCA. "Sweet Ella" will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend. She will remain in our hearts forever.

The deceased, who lived with her son John Lonsdorf in Newton, was born 13 August 1819 in Neunig, Prussia, and came to Town Newton in 1847 where she has resided ever since. FERDINAND A. LONSDORF cemetery #43 From Der Nord Westen, 13 May 1886: We have learned of the death of Mr. Ferdinand Lonsdorf a week ago Tues. He had been a teacher in this county before establishing a business in Escanaba and was lately a businessman in Appleton. He was only 34 years old and leaves a young wife, his mother and two sisters. He was buried here in Manitowoc last Thursday.


ARTHUR F. LONZO cemetery #44 Arthur F. Lonzo, 71, of 1325 S. 13th St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday morning at the residence after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, the Rev. Ralph Gillis officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Graveside rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1248 of Two Rivers. Lonzo was born Jan. 16, 1893, at Two Rivers, son of the late Frank and Emily LaFond Lonzo. He entered military service in 1917, serving with Co. F., First Army Headquarters regiment, as a French interpreter, attaining rank of sergeant. He was discharged May 16, 1919. He became a partner with his father and brothers in the Lonzo Fisheries of Two Rivers until 1940 when he was employed by Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc. He retired in 1958. He married the former Clara Diegel Aug. 3, 1933, and the couple resided at Manitowoc. He was a member of Boilermakers Local 443, Manitowoc Eagles Aerie No. 706 and a charter member of the VFW post of Two Rivers. Survivors are his wife, three brothers, Urban of Tripoli, Wis., and Lester and Francis of Two Rivers; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Mueller of San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Charles Havlichek of Two Rivers and nieces and nephews. OLIVER LONZO cemetery #89B From Der Nord Westen, 14 Feb. 1895: (From the correspondent in Two Rivers, 11 Feb.) On Fri. the body of O. Lonzo was brought here from Fort Howard for burial. He was an old settler and resided in Two Rivers for about 30 yrs., but the past few years he resided with his son in Fort Howard. He had worked as a commercial fisherman, was about 70 yrs. of age, and came originally from Canada. His wife preceded him in death about 15 yrs. ago. He leaves a son and 3 daughters. Burial was Sun. afternoon in the Catholic Cemetery.


ANNA PAULINE LOOS cemetery #87 Death claimed Mrs. Anna Pauline Loos on Monday evening, at the home of her son Herman, in Town Schleswig, near Louis Corners, where she had been making her home during the past two years. She was 75 years old. Deceased had been in poor health for the past 40 years, with a nervous ailment, which culminated in her death. Mrs. Loos, nee Zorn, was born in Pommerania, Germany, October 6, 1849, and came to America at the age of three years, with her parents, who settled in this section of Wisconsin. She was married in 1869 to John Loos, and the couple settled on a farm near Louis Corners. About 22 years ago they disposed of the farm and moved to Millhome, where they resided 20 years. In 1919 the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. After the death of her husband two years ago, Mrs. Loos made her home with her son Herman. Five children blessed their union, of whom one son and one daughter died some years ago. The surviving children are, three sons: William and Emil Loos of Colby, and Herman of Schleswig. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Mich. Strassmann of the Town of Eaton and Mrs. Albert Schulz of Howards Grove, 19 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon Rev. W. Kuether of the Lutheran church at Louis Corners officiating. Burial in the adjoining cemetery. - 1924


HERMAN LOOS cemetery #2 Herman Loos Dies Suddenly at Home Death attributed to a heart stroke, came to Herman Loos, 60, at his farm home in Cato township Monday morning. He died on the porch of his home, after coming from morning chores in the barn. Funeral services will be held this afternoon from the Berge funeral home at Valders. Born January 19, 1889 in Schleswig township, Mr. Loos has lived all of his life in this vicinity. He married Miss Sophia Cummings of Liberty in June of 1914. His wife preceded him in death. Survivors include his son and three sisters. They are Mrs. John Mertz, Chilton; Mrs. Joseph Baumgartner and Mrs. George ?oessl of St. Nazlanz. (No newspaper named, 1949)


HERMAN LOOS cemetery #87 Diabetes Fatal to Herman Loos Suffering eight years from diabetes and following two weeks of lethal illness at the Plymouth hospital, Herman Loos, aged 59, passed away at Plymouth Sunday. The deceased was born June 29, 1871, in the town of Schleswig, where he spent all his life. On July 4, 1897 he was united in marriage to Miss Eda Hermann; the ceremony performed at Louis Corners. Two children, Mabel and Arthur were born to the couple. Both children survived and are living at home. The widow also survived as do two brothers, William and Emil, who reside at Colby. Funeral service will be held at the home at 1:30 Thursday, and at 2 p. m. at the Louis Corners church, the Rev. Harold O. Grunwald performing the last rites. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.


IDA LOOS cemetery #87 Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Loos, 79, were held Sunday afternoon from the Zion Lutheran church in Louis Corners. Mrs. Loos died Thursday at her daughters home, Mrs. Edwin Feldt, Sheboygan. The Rev. William Hartwig officiated at the funeral services and burial was made in the church cemetery. Mrs. Loos was born September 19, 1875, in the town of Schleswig, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian Hansmann. July 4, 1897, she was married to Herman Loos of the town of Schleswig. The couple operated a farm near Cedar Lake until his death in 1930. She continued to live in the town of Schleswig until last August. She was also preceded in death by a son, Arthur, who died in 1948. 1954

JOHN LOOS cemetery #87 Death claimed John Loos, one of the well-known and highly respected citizens of the town of Schleswig, on Thursday, at the age of 76 years, after a prolonged illness with cancer of the stomach. Mr. Loos was born in Gundersblum, Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany, January 14, 1847. At the age of eight years he came to America with his parents, who settled on a farm in the town of Rhine, where they remained one year and then moved on a farm in the town of Schleswig. He was married at the age of 22 years to Anna Pauline Zorn. The couple lived on a farm in Schleswig up to twenty years ago, when they moved to Millhome, where they have since been making their home. The survivors are his widow, who has been an invalid for many years, two sons, William and Emil of Colby; one brother, William of Elkhart Lake; and two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Geussenhainer of Sheboygan, and Mrs. Frank Zorn of Brillion. Also 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren survive him. The funeral services took place on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Wm. Kuether of the Lutheran church of Louis Corners officiating. Remains were buried in the Louis Corners cemetery. - July 1923

MATHIAS LOOS cemetery #21 Mathias Loos Called To Rest Sunday Evening Mathias Loos, 64, better known to his friends as Uncle Matt, 1217 Alabama avenue, passed away Sunday evening at his home. He was born in Town Schleswig, Manitowoc county, on April 17, 1879, and attended country and parochial schools in St. Nazianz. On Oct. 26, 1909, he was married to Miss Rosa Strauss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Strauss, St. Nazianz, the Rev. Father Herman of St. Gregory’s church performing the ceremony. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Loos moved on a farm at Maniwa, Wis., where they remained for 18 years, coming to Sheboygan in 1927. For a year he was employed by the Wisconsin Public Service corporation, and until the time of his death, at the Phoenix Chair company. He was a member of the St. Peter Claver Holy Name society and of the St. Leo court No. 267, Catholic Order of Foresters. Survivors are his wife, four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Joseph McCarthy, Sheboygan; Mrs. John Mertz, Chilton; Mrs. Regina Baumgartner and Mrs. Ida Loessel, both of St. Nazianz; Frank Loos, Aniwa, and Herman Loos, Valders. There are also 39 nieces and nephews of whom nine of the latter are in the service of the armed forces. Funeral services will be conducted from the Ramm Funeral home at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning and at 9 o’clock at the St. Peter Claver church. The Rev. C. J. Hausner will officiate. SOPHIE LOOS cemetery #2 Mrs. Herman Loos In spite of a determined fight against great odds, Mrs. Herman Loos, 35, of Valders succumbed to death at 10:45 Sunday morning at her home. Every medical aid was used to combat the effects of a few weeks illness of pleural pneumonia and for a time it was hoped she would recover. Though her condition was known to be critical, friends had held out hope for her recovery and announcement of her death came as a great shock. Mrs. Loos was 35 years of age having been born July 1, 1891 in Liberty. Before her marriage of 12 years ago she was Miss Sophie Commings. She leaves her husband, one 17th(sic) month old son, Billie, her mother, Mrs. Minnie Commings who made her home with her. She is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Gust Rusch of Liberty, Mrs. Charles Pleuss of Rapids, Mrs. Herman Vetter and Mrs. Henry Jonas of Manitowoc, four brothers, Louis Commings of Manitowoc, John of Sheboygan, Fred of Detroit and William Commings of Liberty. One sister, Mrs. Charles Geirz died 17 years ago. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 Wednesday afternoon at the home and later at the Liberty church, Rev. Hensel officiating. Burial will be at the Liberty cemetery. Mrs. Loos was a member of the Progressive Club and the Ladies Aid society at Valders where she was widely known. ADELINE S. ORTH-LORENZ cemetery #44 Adeline S. Orth-Lorenz, age 87, a resident of St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc, died early Monday morning, April 4, 2005, at the home. Adeline was born Dec. 31, 1917, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Theodore and Anna Vnuk Gorychka. She was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1936. On June 28, 1947, she married Donald G. Orth and he preceded her in death Oct. 15, 1962. She then married Oscar Lorenz on Jan. 12, 1979. He preceded her in death Dec. 15, 1987. Adeline was employed as a bookkeeper with the Manitou Girl Scout Council. Adeline was an avid bowler. She was an active participant in many leagues holding numerous offices and organizing tournaments. She was a 600-club member and was inducted into the Lakeshore Hall of Fame for her bowling career. She was also inducted into the Manitowoc Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Adeline was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts and St. Mary's Rosary & Altar Society. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, a daughter and son-in-law, two granddaughters, a great-grandson, and two sisters-in-law. Also surviving is a special friend, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law: Sophie and John Barry; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Carl Gorychka; Flory and Colette Gorychka; Adolph and Dorothy Gorychka; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Alvin and Mary Orth; Floyd and Sally Orth; Ray Orth; Anita and Fred Maresh; and Viola and Jerome Brunner. GERTRUDE E. LORENZ cemetery #89C Gertrude E. Lorenz, age 92, who resided at Harmony of Two Rivers, died early Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2004 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Edward Stelter, with burial to take place in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers. Gertrude was born Oct. 27, 1911 in the town of Two Rivers, to the late Frank and Ella (Rausch) Koldoff and attended the country school in the town of Two Rivers. On Dec. 3, 1932, she married Conrad Lorenz at St. John's Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. He preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 1986. Together the couple operated a hobby farm in the town of Two Rivers for many years. Gertrude enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, especially making kolaches; but above all, her greatest love was her children and grandchildren. ALFRED LORFELD cemetery #14 Alfred E. Lorfeld, 81, of 719 S. 22nd St. Sheboygan, died Saturday morning at Sheboygan following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels, Sheboygan. The Rev. George Mohr will officiate and burial will be in Saxon Cemetery, Town of Centerville. Mr. Lorfeld was born Dec. 21, 1890, in the Town of Centerville, son of the late John and Pauline Lutze Lorfeld. He married Louise Weigand of the Town of Centerville Dec. 25, 1916. The couple resided on the family farm in the Town of Centerville. She preceded him in death in 1959. He then married Mrs. Rose Pulaski Dec. 1, 1963. Following his retirement in 1965 the couple moved to Sheboygan. Mrs. Lorfeld preceded him in death in 1968. He was a member of the Manitowoc Senior Citizens. ROSE T. LORITZ cemetery #43 Miss Rose Loritz, 88, formerly of 910A Hancock St., Manitowoc, died Monday afternoon at Maple Crest Nursing Home, Whitelaw. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Dan Dewane will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Miss Loritz was born Aug. 10, 1882, in the Town of Newton, daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa Wellner Loritz. She was a member of the St. Ann Society of St. Boniface Church. Four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Her first husband was a veteran of WWI and died. I believe that Mabel Emeline Smith Lounsbury died 27 Feb 1941 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co., WI; burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc Co., WI. ******** Ira Daniel Lounsbury descends from a very early pioneer family in Jefferson County, WI, his father being Ira Davis Lounsbury. Ira Davis Lounsbury came to WI by way of canal from New York State in 1838. He cleared 25 acres of land in Dodge and Jefferson counties, and was granted several land patents. He then purchased the farm of his wife's father, Benjamin Piper, who was the first settler in the Village of Watertown, Jefferson County, WI. He came to the WI Territory in 1835, did some work, returned to NY to get his family, and then built a log cabin. He was the one who built the Watertown Plank Road going from Watertown to Milwaukee so that the farmers could get their products to market, without sinking with their carts, etc. Smart man. Later built an Inn by the Plank Road. Manitowoc County, of course, does not need this history, but we have some extremely early settlers in WI Territory. Lounsbury, 56, is Dead at Manitowoc Manitowoc, Wis., Feb. 27 [Special]-Mrs. Mabel Lounsbury, 56, business woman, and civic and church leader here, died today following an operation. She was treasurer of the Allwood Lime company and manager of the Allwood Sales company of this city. She took over the work when her husband, John M. Lounsbury, died seven years ago. In 1910 she was married to Sherman Killen of Cato, who died in 1918. Shortly after his death she was named county probation officer. She married Mr. Lounsbury in 1926. December 3, 1973 ******** Rural Kiel Girl Drowns in Bathtub Kiel – A 13-year-old rural Kiel girl suffered an epileptic seizure late Saturday morning and drowned while bathing, according to Manitowoc County Coroner James Powers. She was Jacqueline Love, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Love, who reside about three miles west of St. Nazianz along Chapel Hill Road. The girl was bathing when she suffered the attack and drowned, Powers said. He ruled the death accidental. Born on Nov. 26, 1960 in Sheboygan she was a daughter of Robert and Doris Guthrie Love. She moved to the Kiel area with her parents. She was a seventh grade pupil at the Kiel Middle School. She was a member of the Royal Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, Manitowoc, and the Church of the Nazarene, Sheboygan. Survivors include her parents; two sisters, and three brothers, and the maternal grandparents.
