MATHILDA LACROIX cemetery #83 Mrs. Paul LaCroix, 69, of 919 Fremont St., Kiel, died Tuesday afternoon at St. Nicholas Hospital where she had been a patient for two weeks. The former Mathilda Kautzer, was born at St. Nazianz, Feb. 7, 1894, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kautzer, and was married to Paul LaCroix of the Town of Schleswig May 1, 1917, at St. Gregory's Church, St. Nazianz. The couple lived on a farm in the Town of Schleswig for 32 years, retiring in 1949 and moving to Kiel. Mrs. LaCroix was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, the Christian Mothers Society and the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin. Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Mildred) Modra, R. 3, Manitowoc, and Mrs. Roland (Veronica) Daun, R. 2, New Holstein; two sons, Hugo, R. 1 Newton, and Marvin, Cleveland, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, her twin, Mrs. Michael Wimmer, R. 1, Manitowoc, and Mrs. Hugh Jolin, Manitowoc, and a brother, Adolph Kautzer, St. Nazianz. Funeral services will be held at Ss. Peter and Paul Church at 10 a.m. Saturday following brief rites at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, at 9:30. The Rev. George Kiefer will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Friday. The Christian Mothers Society will recite the rosary at 8 o'clock Friday evening and the Catholic Knights at 8:30. - October 1963

PAUL P. LACROIX cemetery #83 Paul P. LaCroix, 81, a retired Town of Schleswig farmer and former Kiel resident, died Monday night at the Villa Loretto, Mount Calvary. Born June 29, 1889, at St. Anna, he was a son of the late William and Elizabeth Dickrell LaCroix. On May 1, 1917, he married the former Mathilda Kautzer of S. Nazianz at St. Gregory Catholic Church. The couple operated a farm in Schleswig for 32 years before retiring and moving to Kiel. For several years he was employed by Kiel Wooden Ware Company. Mrs. LaCroix died October 29, 1963. He later made his home with a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Daun, Route 2, New Holstein. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Parish, Kiel, its Holy Name Society and the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Alvin Modra of Route 3, Manitowoc, and Mrs. Daun; two sons, Hugo of Route 1, Newton, and Marvin in Cleveland; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Schramm of St. Nazianz and Mrs. Ida Schram of Chilton, and a brother, Edward of Rocky Knoll. Funeral services were held today, Thursday, at 9:30 a.m. at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, and at 10 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Church, the Rev. George Kiefer, pastor, celebrant of the requiem Mass. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

EDWARD J. LADWIG cemetery #43 Manitowoc Herald-Times, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Wednesday, June 12, 1935 Edward Ladwig, Veteran Police Officer: Is Dead 62 Year Old Night Chief Dies While Riding In Bus Last Evening Assistant Police Chief Edward J. Ladwig, member of the department for 28 years, died suddenly of a heat attack early Tuesday evening in a city bus while en-route to the police station to take charge of the night force. He was 62. The assistant chief, who boarded the bus at Wisconsin avenue and North 13th street shortly before 5:30 o'clock, collapsed suddenly in his seat in sight of a number of passengers on the bus. Ivan Schroeder, the driver, stopped the bus at Waldo boulevard and 18th street and Dr. F. E. Turgasen and the city ambulance were summoned. The doctor pronounced Mr. Ladwig dead after a brief examination. Death of Assistant Chief Ladwig occurred within three days of the 29th anniversary of joining the police department. This week Mr. Ladwig and his wife were stopping at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schuette, 933 North 13th street, during their absence from the city. Mrs. Ladwig and Mrs. Schuette are sisters. He left the Schuette residence at the usual hour to catch a bus in order to reach the police station when the night officers reported for duty. Funeral Saturday Funeral services for Assistant Chief Ladwig will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the home, 1319 South 12th street, and at 10 am. from the St. Boniface church. Interment will be at Calvary cemetery. The deceased was born in this city in 1872 and at an early age moved with his parent to Mishicot. Later he returned to this city and took a position as field superintendent for a canning company. On June 14, 1907 he was named a member of the police department and was assigned to night duty. On April 1, 1918 he was named assistant police chief, which position he continued to fill until his death. Except for periods when he was acting chief during the absence from the city of Police Chief Trochoell, Assistant Chief Ladwig served as head of the night force of the department. In addition to membership in the Wisconsin Police Protective association he was also a member of the St. Boniface society and the St. Boniface congregation. Married in 1904 In 1904 the deceased was married at Nordheim, this county, to Josephine Gretz. Survivors are his widow; a son Stanley, city; a daughter, Armela, city; two brothers, Henry, city and August, Milwaukee; a sister, Mrs. Christ Hendries, city; and four grandchildren. The body will be removed to the home on South 12th street Thursday morning from the Pfeffer Funeral home. Fellow members on the police department will act as pallbearers at the funeral services Saturday. ESTHER LADWIG cemetery #44 Mrs. Esther Ladwig, widow of William Ladwig, passed away after a year's illness at Maple Crest sanitarium Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the age of 27 years. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the home of her mother, Mrs. Ida Boeckmann, in Manitowoc and at the First Reformed church, the Rev. Otto Menke officiating. Burial at Evergreen cemetery. Mrs. Ladwig, nee Esther Boeckmann, was born in Manitowoc on April 21, 1897 and attended the home schools. After her marriage to William Ladwig the couple resided in Kiel for several years. She is survived by one son, Harold, aged 3 years; her mother, Mrs. Ida Boeckmann, and three brothers, Adolph, Rudolph and William, all of Manitowoc. Her husband preceded her in death about six months ago. He also passed away at the Maple Crest Sanitarium. - 1924

HENRY LADWIG cemetery #44 Two Rivers Reporter, Two Rivers, Wisconsin, Friday, June 16, 1922 OLD RESIDENT ANSWERS FINAL SUMMONS Henry Ladwig, resident of the county for more than a half century, died at the family home n the town of Two Rivers Friday afternoon following an illness due infirmities incident to old age. The funeral held Monday afternoon from the home with services at St. Johns Lutheran church. Burial was at Evergreen cemetery in Manitowoc. The Rev. W. G. Hasse officiated at the services. Henry Ladwig was born in Germany February 22, 1836, eighty years ago and was married there coming to America a few years afterwards. He was thirty-two when he came to Manitowoc to make his home and for ten years worked on the farm and rented. Then he purchased the homestead in the Town of Two Rivers, near Mishicot, where he has for forty-four years made his home. Mrs. Ladwig died four years ago. HENRY LADWIG cemetery #44 The Manitowoc Daily Herald, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Tuesday, July 24, 1917 PIONEER WOMAN DIES SUDDENLY OF HEART ATTACK Mrs. Henry Ladwig, a pioneer resident of the county and mother of Patrolman Edward Ladwig of the local police department, died suddenly at the home of her son, Albert, north of Two Rivers, last evening. Mrs. Ladwig, despite her 82 years, had enjoyed remarkable health and had not been ill. While about the house last evening preparing to retire she suddenly fell to the floor and expired before medical aid could be summoned. Mrs. Ladwig is survived by six children, Mrs. C. Hendries, Henry, August, Edward and Albert Ladwig and Mrs. Steckmesser. Two brothers, Carl and Edward Brey of this city and two sisters, one Mrs. Kummerow, of Two Rivers, survive. She is survived by her husband who also resides with the son Albert, two daughters, Mrs. Herman Stechmesser and Mrs. Christ Hendries of Manitowoc, and four sons August, Henry and Edward of Manitowoc and Albert of Two Rivers. MARY LADWIG cemetery #82 The victim of a stroke suffered at the home of her father, William Ladwig at 4 o'clock last Tuesday afternoon, Miss Mary Theresa Ladwig, aged 49, passed away on Thursday evening of last week. She had been an invalid for the past nine and a half years. The deceased was born Nov. 27, 1881 in Pomerania, Germany. At the age of two, she came to this country with her parents, settling first in Milwaukee, where they made their home for eleven years. In the summer of 1894 they moved to Kiel, where the family has since resided. Mrs. Ladwig died in December, 1920. Surviving her besides her father are two brothers, Charles of Milwaukee, and Walter of Sturgeon Bay, and two sisters, Mrs. Fred Wetzel and Mrs. Louis Lawrence, both of Kiel. Four brothers and two sisters preceded her in death many years ago. Funeral services were held from the Ladwig home at 525 Broadway street Saturday afternoon at 3:30. The Rev. E. L. Worthman of the St. Peter Reformed church performed the last rites, and burial was in the Kiel cemetery. Pallbearers were: Henry Jochmann, Charles Guetzloe, Jacob Stumpf, Frank Hahnemann, and Edward and John Henschel. Miss Ladwig was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the G. U. G. Germania Verein No. 7 of Kiel, and which society attended the funeral in a body.

He had been a helpless invalid for years, being afflicted sorely with trembling palsy, and death brought to him welcome relief. He was born in Montreal, July 7, 1828. Came to this city in 1849 and made it his home most of his life. He served in the Union Army during the last year of the war, part of the time being in the 3d Wis. Rg. and the balance of the time in the 35th Wis. Rg. He leaves a sorrowing wife and several grown-up sons and daughters. La Fleu was born 07 July 1828 in Montreal, Canada, and came to Two Rivers in 1849 where he lived ever since. He served during the latter portion of the Civil War. The funeral was held Tues. morning.

She had been in good health and her passing was unexpected. She worked here as a mid-wife and enjoyed great affection. The funeral was held Tuesday from the English Church. (Note: Possibly Lahey? I have Ed. Lahey and Anna who died in 1907. There is no Laley surname in any of the cems.)

JOHN WM. LAHEY Cemetery #89B Manitowoc Co. Chronicle, Tuesday, Nov. 19, 1878 Last Wednesday Wm. Lahey, a young man living near the tannery of the Wisconsin Leather Company, north of this city, was accidentally shot while cleaning his gun, the wound causing his death within a few hours. It appears that he wished to get the breech from off the barrels and as it was somewhat rusted he put it in the blacksmith's forge to burn off the rust, forgetting that the gun was loaded. In a short time there was an explosion and he fell to the floor fatally wounded. The charge entered his abdomen causing an internal hemorrhage, and although medical assistance was immediately summoned it was impossible to save his life. He was buried on Thursday in the Catholic cemetery at this place. The deceased was a young man about twenty one years of age and his death is a sad loss to his parents and relatives.

THOMAS LAHEY cemetery #89D JOINS ARMY OF THE DEAD One of the three or four of the last remaining members of the Two Rivers branch of the Grand Army of the Republic passed away Monday morning when Thomas Lahey, aged 87, answered the final call of taps at his home, 1711 Twenty-first Street. Deceased served with company K, 20th Wisconsin regiment and was with Sherman in his memorable march to the sea. Mr. Lahey came to this country from Ireland with his parents at the age of seven and located in the Town of Two Creeks. He was married to Miss Hannah ?? can't read, too dark) Connen in 1866(? dark), they having six children. Mrs. Thomas Reinger of this city, Mrs. Arthur Smurth of Green Bay and Mrs. Edward Hendricks of Gensnell, Minnesota; Thomas and William of Escanaba, Mich., and Geo. of Green Bay, all of whom survive. In 1899 Mrs. Lahey passed away and in 1900 he was again married to Mrs. Thomas Reynolds who survives. In 1910 he moved to (too light) lived in retirement. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. James Flinn in Chicago. The funeral was held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Luke's church, Rev. C.V. Hugo officiating. They then moved to Millhome; where she spent the remainder of her life. The couple observed their sixtieth wedding anniversary quietly July 3rd, 1943. Survivors are her aged husband; a son, John, on the homestead; two daughters, Mrs. John (Louise) Bradley of Elgin, Illinois, and Mrs. Alfred (Anna) Silbernagel of this city; two grandchildren, Lester Lambert and Mrs. Roy Duerrwaechter, both of Kiel, and two great - grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday morning at 9:30 o’clock from the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, and at 10 o’clock at the Ss. He was born in this city and was 32 years of age. Besides his wife and five children, the eldest being twelve years, he leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Lambries of this city, four brothers and two sisters. ALBERT LANDRETH cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 20 Apr. 1899: Word arrived here Sun. morning that Albert Landreth died Sat. evening in Florida. The local resident had built a home there in which to spend the winter months. Last Nov. he and his family made the trip down there again and all communications from there indicated everything was fine until the report of his death from malarial fever was received. The deceased was born 04 Feb. 1858 in Bristol, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and one can conclude that he was of Pennsylvania Dutch derivation. Mr. Landreth came to Manitowoc in 1875 and established a nursery, then in 1889 he established a factory for canning peas which became nationally known. He built another pea canning plant in Sheboygan in 1893. From these he became a very wealthy man. He is survived by a widow and 3 children. His body was brought here and will be buried this afternoon in the city cemetery.

We have no further details. *********** From Der Nord Westen, 08 July 1909: Regarding the sudden death of John Landt of Two Rivers, we reprint the following material from the “National-Demokrat” of Sheboygan, in which city he met his death: John Landt, a 33-year old butcher from Two Rivers, recently came to Sheboygan to visit Mr. and Mrs. Anton Herman. The latter is a sister-in-law of his. On Sunday Landt suddenly became violent and the police were called. He ultimately died of convulsions on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday his body was taken to Two Rivers where the funeral was held on Thursday. In addition to his widow he is survived by 2 children, as well as his elderly parents and several sisters.

KATHERINA LANG cemetery #9 From Der Nord Westen, 26 July 1906: Death Tuesday last week in Centerville from cancer of Mrs. Katharina Lang (nee Froeckel). She had been ill for the last seven weeks and had been blind for the past 20 years. She was born 22 Oct. 1840 in Bohemia and was married for a period of 3 years with Mr. Grundhoefer; for the last 32 years she has been happily married to her now surviving husband John Lang. Of their 4 children, only Mrs. Mary Sturm in Manitowoc is still living. A son John, of the first marriage, also survives. The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Thursday led by Rev. Nickel in Centerville.

MOSE LANGLOIS Mose Langlois, Old Character Locally, Dies Familiar Figure About City for Half a Century Passes Death claimed Mose Langlois, 62, a familiar figure about the city for a half century, and a member of one of the first families to settle in Two Rivers, at the family home at 1921 Jackson Street at 1155 Sunday morning. He had been in ill health for more than a year confined to his home for the past two months. Known to Young and Old Mr. Langlois was known to old and young in Two Rivers for many years. He took sick a little more than a year ago. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning from the Jansky funeral home to the St. Luke's Catholic Church at 8:30 o'clock, with the Rev. Father C.V. Hugo officiating. The body will remain at the funeral home until the service. Mr. Langlois was a son of the late Oliver and Adeline Langlois, who immigrated to this city from Canada nearly 90 years ago, and were among the first couples to settle in Two Rivers. Every one of their children was born and reared on the eastside. Prior to her marriage Meta worked for the Manitowoc Seed Company. On July 13, 1946, Meta was married to Paul A. Larsen at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1999. Meta was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Ladies of Immanuel. She enjoyed her card and sewing clubs. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mark Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Rev. David Beaudry will officiate with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. She was born at Coleman, Wis., on October 26, 1905, daughter of the late Wilfred and Denise Morreau Lesperance. She married Paul Larson on February 11, 1929, at St. Mark Catholic Church. She operated a sawmill for the commercial fishermen in the 1940's and also owned and operated a restaurant in the 1950's. She was a member of Ladies of St. Marks's. Survivors include her husband, Paul; a son, three daughters and sons-in-law, 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandchild, six sisters and five brothers. While workmen were felling trees one of them dropped on 17-yr. old John Larson of Manitowoc with such force that he was killed instantly. He is the son of John Larson who is employed in the shipyard. ELMER F. LAUDE Cemetery #43 Elmer F. (Tiny) Laude, 56, former Manitowoc dance orchestra leader, and more recently in the grocery and tavern business on Route 5 north of Manitowoc, died Thursday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Previously in apparent good health, Mr. Laude was stricken with a sudden appendicitis attack a week ago, following which he had submitted to an operation. Services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at the Mittacht Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 9 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, the Rev. E.A. Radey officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside. Born in Oshkosh in 1895, the son of Mr. And Mrs. Louis Laude, the deceased attended school and grew up in that city. He joined the U.S. Navy at the outbreak of World War I, serving at sea for more than a year. Following his discharge in 1919 he came to Manitowoc where he took employment at the Aluminum Goods Company, remaining there through 1929. It was during this time that he played the bass violin as a member of the old Gloe-Naidl dance orchestra. In 1930, he organized his own 10-piece band in Manitowoc, composed of some of the outstanding musicians in this area. In the summer of 1933 the Tiny Laude orchestra made an eight weeks tour of midwestern states, playing in the leading ballrooms of Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska and the Dakotas. The Laude band was one of the most popular in Wisconsin throughout the six years which it operated. In 1936 Laude entered the tavern and grocery store business north of Manitowoc in which he had continued to the time of his death. In recent years he had become interested in promoting softball teams and provided a lighted field next to his place of business for both men and women's teams to play. He has had teams in Manitowoc County Rural Softball League, of which he was a director, for several seasons, and for the past two summers sponsored the Tiny Laude Girls team in a state league. In 1923 Laude married the former Clara Schwartz of Manitowoc, who survives with a daughter, Mrs. Robert Lutterman of Sheboygan, and two grandchildren. Also surviving are his mother, now Mrs. Rudolph Kanter, of Green Bay, and a brother, Earl Laude, also of Green Bay. WALTER O. LAUFS cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 18 Feb. 1909: Walter Laufs, who came here from Germany last fall with Henry Vits and who since then has been working at the aluminum ware factory, fell ill last week with appendicitis. He was quickly taken to Holy Family Hospital where it was found that the illness was so advanced that an operation would not help, and he died Saturday. Mr. Laufs, a nephew of Henry Vits, had not intended to remain in this country, but rather to get to know the people and the nation and then go back to his homeland. Now his grave is here. He was 25 years old. Mr. Vits telegraphed the sad news to the boy’s parents in Germany. His funeral here was conducted Monday from the German Reformed Church.

Laun, nee Pauline Heins, died Thursday afternoon at the age of seventy-three, after an illness of a year and one-half. She was born in Kiel March 20, 1865, the daughter of Charles Hein, local pioneer merchant, and Dorothea Heins(sic). She attended the Kiel public school and the Oshkosh Normal school, and taught for several years in Kiel and Millhome. She was married to Jacob B. Laun of here September 10, 1891. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Albert of here and Carl of Chicago; one daughter, Lucile, (Mrs. Gilbert Thiessen) of Pittsburgh, Pa.; five grandchildren: two brothers, Rudolph Heins of this city and Arthur Heins of Tigerton; and one sister, Miss Minnie Heins of here. She was a charter member of the Kiel Frauenverein, of the Rebekah lodge, the First Presbyterian church and the Dorcas and Missionary Societies. She was active throughout her life in community affairs. Funeral services were held at the family residence at 1:30 Monday afternoon and at the First Presbyterian church at 2:00 o'clock, with interment in the Kiel cemetery. The Rev. Laurent, age 84, of 2318 12th St., Two Rivers, died Tuesday evening March 9, 1993, at the Two Rivers Community Hospital. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 12, at St. Marks' Catholic Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. David Beaudry will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. He was born September 24, 1908, at Kohlman, Wis. son of the late Max and Cordelia Dupuis Laurent. He moved to Two Rivers with his family in 1913. He served in the United States Airforce during World War II and on December 30, 1943, he married the former Ethel O. Heldt. He was employed at Hamilton Manufacturing Company, for many years until his retirement in 1974. Mitch was very active in area sports. He was a charter member for the First Fast Pitch Softball League, Slow Pitch League, Baseball and Basketball Leagues, which were sponsored by the Two Rivers Recreation Department, in Two Rivers in the late 1920's. He played on numerous championship teams in these leagues. He played baseball with the old Polar Bear team, in the old State League, played for Rockwood in the Manitowoc County League, Menchalville in the N.E.W. League and Hebel's Corners. He played football for one year with the old Rambler team. Bowling was his best sport he was president of the Two Rivers Bowling Association for 34 years and one of the top bowlers in Two Rivers for a number of years often having the highest average in Two Rivers. He participated in National ABC tournaments, numerous state tournaments and 54 Two Rivers Bowling Association Tournaments. He was a member of the Two Rivers Eagles since 1951, historian for the Two Rivers Branch of the International Order of Owls, historian for a number of years for the Twenty Grand Club, secretary of the Manitowoc County Old Timers Baseball Association for 26 years, a member of St. Joe's Club, the Hamilton Goodfellowship Club, and the Two Rivers Senior Citizens. He is survived by his wife, Ethel, Two Rivers, a sister-in-law; a special friend; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by eight sisters, and two brothers. Friends may call at the Klein and Stangel Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 11, where there will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

Burial took place on 15 Mar. The family had just returned home from the funeral to find the death of 22 year old George Laurosch on 15 Mar., also from diptheria, the only son of John Laurosch.

JOHN LAUROESCH cemetery #67 From Der Nord Westen, 28 Apr. 1892: (From the correspondent in Mishicott, 26 Apr.) Death of John Laurosch, an old settler, last Thurs., 21 Apr. He had suffered from nerve rheumatism and was sick for one week with influenza, which caused his death. He was born 03 Dec. 1824 in the Kingdom of Württemberg, and so was 67 yrs. 1 mo. of age. He came to American in 1853, spent some years in N.Y. State, then came to Mishicott where he bought a farm. He leaves a widow in good circumstances, as well as 3 grown daughters, the 2 eldest of whom are married - Mrs. Charles Schultz, and Mrs. August Arnemann. About 12 yrs. ago, 4 of their children, including their only son, died within the span of a few weeks. Mr. Laurosch's funeral took place last Sun. in the Saxenburg Cemetery, among countless mourners.

SOPHIA LAWRENCE cemetery #85 Called By Death Mrs. Warren Lawrence passed away at the hospital in Plymouth on Wednesday of last week, after she had undergone an operation for internal cancer, with which she had been afficted for several years. Sophie Oelhoff was born October 28, 1858, in Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany, and came to America at the age of five years with her parents, who settled on a farm on the Ucker Road in the town of Schleswig. She was married in 1878 to Warren Lawrence, and the couple made their home on a farm in the town of Eaton. Later they operated a cheese factory for 18 years, after which they took over the farm of Mr. Lawrence's parents on Ucker Road. For the past 21 years they lived in Kiel. The deceased reached the age of 63 years, 7 months, and 16 days. She is survived by her husband, three daughters, Mrs. John Mattes of Collins, Mrs. Herman Voelker of Kiel, and Mrs. Otto Rabe of Eaton, 14 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one sister, Mrs. Rud. Hungsberg in the town of Schleswig. The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon, with interment in the Ucker Road cemetery. Rev. Rech officiated. - 1922

WILHELMINA LAWERENZ cemetery #87 Called By Death Death claimed Mrs. Wilhelmina Lawerenz at her home in the town of Meeme on Tuesday, after a lingering illness. Cancer was the cause of her demise. Decedent, nee Sell, was born in Salzburg, Germany, March 16, 1846 and was married to August Lawerenz in 1872. The family came to America in 1883, settling in the town of Meeme, where they made their permanent home. Mr. Lawerenz died 20 years ago. The deceased is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Aug. Lawerenz and two sons, William and August at home. Also one sister, in the town of Meeme. The funeral will take place on Friday afternoon, burial being in the Louis Corners cemetery. Rev. Otto Saewert will officiate. - 1922

WILLIAM LAWERENZ cemetery #87 William Lawrenz(sic) Dies at Hospital Sunday Afternoon. William Lawrenz, 84, died at Holy Family hospital Sunday afternoon after a long illness. He was a former resident of Meeme township. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from Zion Lutheran church at Louis Corners, with the Rev. William J. Hartwig in charge. Burial was made in the parish cemetery. Mr. Lawrenz was born in Germany September 12, 1874, son of the late August and Wilhelmina Sell Lawrenz. When nine years old he came to the United States with his parents and settled at Meeme. He married Adelia Meyer May 14, 1910, at Meeme, where the couple operated a farm. She died in December 1933. A brother and sister also preceded him in death. Survivors include a daughter, Miss Meta of Chippewa Falls, and a nephew and nieces. - January 8, 1959

ELIZABETH LAWRENCE Manitowoc Tribune December 17, 1874, Vol. 21 No. 35, Page 5 Column 5 Died. -- In Branch Mills, Town of Rapids, on the 8th inst., Mrs. Elizabeth Lawrence, lacking a few days of being 84 years of age. The deceased patiently bore the infirmities of old age, and after a few days of great suffering, gladly entered into her rest. She was preceded in death by a brother. LINAS LAWRENCE cemetery #44 Did He Kill His Father? Mystery Surrounding the Death of a Manitowoc Man Manitowoc, Jan. 5.- Linas Lawrence, an old and respected citizen, died last night. It is alleged that death was caused by a severe beating which his son Louis administered about two weeks ago. Mr. Lawrence had been confined to his bed ever since and had been gradually failing, until last night death ended his sufferings. MRS. LINAS LAWRENCE cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 06 Mar. 1890 Death of 67 yr. old Mrs. Linas Lawrence of Manitowoc of a stroke on the 25th of last month. She was buried on Mon. (03 March). Buried at the same time as Mrs. Lawrence was, her daughter-in-law who had died a few days earlier in Chicago (no name given).

ESTHER LAWRENZ cemetery #87 CALLED BY DEATH Death claimed Miss Esther Lawrenz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aug. Lawrenz, of the town of Meeme, on Tuesday night, after 6 months illness with tuberculosis of the bowels. Her age was 18 years, 5 months and 15 days. She underwent a surgical operation at the Plymouth hospital about a month ago, after which she was taken to her home. The survivors are her parents, three sisters and one brother. The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon, Rev. W. Kuether of Louis Corners officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. - 1922

ANTON A. LAX Anton A. Lax, 86, a former Kiel resident, died May 24 at St. Nicholas Hospital were he had been a patient for two months. He had resided at Sunny Ridge for the past nine years. Born March 9, 1893, in the town of Eaton, a son of Frank and Amalia Zuber Lax, he attended the district school in the Town of Eaton. On November 27, 1934, he married the former Tillie Paul at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Town of Schleswig. The couple lived in the Town of Eaton for several years before moving to Kiel where she died April 9, 1967. Mr. Lax was employed as a carpenter most of his life. On March 6, 1972, he married the former Gladys Brooks in Sheboygan. She died November 5, 1975. He was a membeer of St. John United Church of Christ, Sheboygan. (Survivors omitted for privacy) Funeral services were held Saturday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, the Reverend Vernon E. Jaberg, pastor of St. John United Church of Christ, Sheboygan, officiating. Burial was in the Kiel Cemetery. - May 24, 1979
