ALBERT W. GRAF cemetery #82 Albert W. Graf, aged 69, passed away Friday afternoon at 1 o’clock at his home after a lingering illness. Mr. Graf was born in the Town of Schleswig on Dec. 3, 1877 the son of Christian and Katherine Sinz Graf and was married to Miss Emma Klauck of Kiel on Nov. 20, 1906. For some years the couple resided on farms near Kiel, and for 15 years Mr. Graf operated a milk route in this city. For the past 17 years the family has resided here. Survivors are his wife; three sons, Walter, Harvey and Robert, all of this city; three grandchildren, three brothers, William of Sheboygan, Arthur of Garnet, and Dr. Rudolph Graf of this city. A son, Roy died in infancy. Mr. Graf was a member of the Kiel Redmen lodge, and the members attended the funeral in a body. No newspaper named, 1946 ARNO GRAF cemetery #89D Arno Graf, 74, formerly of the Sturgeon Bay area and a longtime operator of Stebbin's Hotel at Algoma, died Sunday morning at University of California-Los Angeles Hospital, Los Angeles, Calif. Funeral services are tentatively set for Thursday morning at Deja and Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers, and St. Luke Catholic Church, the Rev. Earl Brouchoud officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. Mr. Graf was born March 16, 1897, at Sturgeon Bay, son of the late Peter and Catherine Bier Graf. He married the former Ethel Kuss in 1917. She preceded him in death in 1967. Survivors include a son, Marvin, of Two Rivers; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Jens of Granada Hills, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Harvey Junion of Sturgeon Bay, and two brothers, Paul of Green Bay and Leo of Kenosha, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. ARTHUR P. GRAF cemetery #82 Funeral services for Arthur P. Graf, 79, were held from the Meiselwitz Funeral home Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. E. L. Worthman officiated, and the singers were Mesdames Robert Casper and Alfred Steinhardt. Burial was made in the Kiel cemetery. Mr. Graf died at St. Nicholas hospital Saturday night. Born April 25, 1875, in the town of Schleswig, a son of Christian and Catherine Graf, he was married to Catherine Balz October 12, 1901. Following their marriage, the couple settled on a farm at Hayton, where they lived before moving to Kiel. Mr. Graf was employed for many years at the Kiel Furniture company. For the past three years he had made his home with a daughter, Mrs. Walter Retlich at School Hill. Mrs. Graf died in 1939. Survivors are two sons, Arno of Garnet, and Hugo of Kiel; the daughter, Mrs. Walter Retlich; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and a brother, Dr. Rudolph Graf of Kiel. His parents and four brothers also preceded him in death. - April, 1954
CATHARINE GRAF cemetery #82 Called By Death Mrs. Katherine(sic) Graf died at the home of her son Rudolph, Tuesday. Katherine Sinz was born in Wisconsin 68 years ago. In 1871 she was married to Christian Graf, who died in 1907 - a veteran of the Civil War. She is survived by five sons, William, Arthur, Albert, Oscar and Rudolph, all of whom reside in this vicinity, and one brother who lives in Sheboygan. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and interment will be made in the Kiel cemetery. December 1918
CHRISTIAN GRAF cemetery #82 Kiel—Christian Graf, a well know war veteran here died on Monday morning at his home in Town Schleswig. He was born April 11, 1839 in Oelbrunn, Germany and he reached the age of 68 years. He came to America in 1855 when he settled in Germantown. Four years later he came to Town Rhine. After he served in the Civil war he settled in Town Schleswig where he married Catherine Sinner. He is survived by his wife and five children. ELSIE GRAF cemetery #82 Mrs. Elsie Graf, 82, a Kiel resident and widow of Dr. Rudolph Graf, died Sunday morning at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility where she had resided the past month. The former Elsie Berg, she was born Nov. 26, 1895, in the Town of Schleswig, a daughter of Ernst and Wilhelmina Donath Berg. She attended public school in Kiel. On Aug. 24, 1916, she was married to Dr. Graf, who had a dental practice in Kiel for 53 years. He preceded her in death on April 6, 1966. Mrs. Graf was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel, its Frauen Verein and the Kasper-Beckley-Wilkens-American Legion Post Auxiliary. Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Lilly Luecke of Route 1, Cleveland, and nieces and nephews. A sister and two brothers preceded her in death. EMMA GRAF cemetery #82 Mrs. Emma Graf, 66, of 615 Fremont St., Kiel, a widow of the late Albert Graf, died Friday afternoon at St. Nicholas Hospital following an illness of one week. She was born Nov. 18, 1886 at St. Ann, Calumet County, a daughter of the late John Klauck and Kundegunde Winter. Her marriage to Mr. Graf took place Nov. 20, 1906. Following marriage the couple farmed in the Town of Schleswig where the husband also operated a dairy route. The past 25 years they had been living in Kiel. Mr. Graf died in 1946. Surviving are three sons, Walter and Harvey of Kiel, and Robert of Sheboygan; five grandchildren; her mother of Sheboygan; two brothers, Edward of New Holstein and Arthur of Kiel; four sisters, Mrs. Jacob Henschel of Kiel and Miss Anna Klauck, Mrs. Joseph Schnurr and Mrs. Harvey Bohnsack of Sheboygan. In addition to her husband and father, Mrs. Graf was preceded in death by a son in infancy. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, with the Rev. F.X. Kheil officiating. Burial will be in the Kiel Cemetery. Friends may call at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, from 2 p.m. Sunday until 9 a.m. Monday when the body will be taken to the church. ESTHER H. GRAF cemetery #82 Esther H. Graf, 79, of 1023 Kretsch Ct., Kiel, died unexpectedly Saturday, Oct. 26, 1996 at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. She is the former Esther Schroder, born March 10, 1917 in Collins, daughter of the late Albert and Louise Zarnath Schroeder. She attended schools in the Chilton area. On Aug. 3, 1940 she married Harvey Graf at Zion Lutheran Church in Collins. The couple celebrated their 50th and 55th wedding anniversaries. She was employed at Evans Variety Store in Kiel for many years. She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Kiel. Survivors include her husband; one daughter (private); four grandchildren; and two sisters, Leona (George) Urban of Reedsville and Hertha Schroeder of Kiel. No newspaper named, October 26, 1996
FRANCISKA GRAF cemetery #20 Funeral Services for Mrs. Fred Graf Held at St. John's Reformed Church New Holstein - Funeral services for the late Mrs. Fred Graf, nee Francisco Moser, who died Tuesday evening at 8:15 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Hansen here, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's Reformed church. Rev. A. C. Plappert conducted the services and interment was made in the Eaton cemetery. Mrs. Graf was born in Buffalo, New York, on September 13, 1853. When a child she came to the town of Rhine with her parents and in 1871 was united in marriage to Fred Graf. The couple lived on a farm in the town of Rhine for two years, after which they purchased a farm in the town of Eaton which was later sold to their son, Herbert. From Eaton they moved to a small homestead at Meggers Corners. Mr. Graf preceded his wife in death three years ago, after which she made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Alfred Oesau, of Kiel. In April of this year, Mrs. Graf visited at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Hansen and while there became seriously ill. She had suffered several strokes with complications and death resulted on Tuesday evening. The survivors are four sons, Fred Graf, of Jacksonville, Florida; John, of Milwaukee; Herbert, on the homestead, and Waldo, of Collins; two daughters, Mrs. Walter Hanson, of New Holstein, and Mrs. Alfred Oesau, of Kiel; thirty grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Four sisters, Mrs. Agnes Drake, of Brookfield; Mrs. Ricka Lutz, of Marshfield; Mrs. Sophia Hilgers, of Dallas, Texas, and Miss Minnie Moser, of Pasadena, Cal., also survive. HARVEY E. GRAF cemetery #82 Harvey E. Graf, 87, of 1023 Kretsch Court, Kiel, died Monday morning, April 27, 1998 at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein, where he was a patient for the past two weeks. He was born May 9, 1910 in Kiel, son of the late Albert and Emma Klauck Graf. He was a graduate of Kiel High School. On August 4, 1940 he married the former Esther Schroeder at Zion Lutheran Church in Collins. The couple celebrated their 50th and 55th wedding anniversaries. She preceded him in death on Oct. 24, 1996. Before his retirement he was employed by Tecumseh Products Company for 33 years. He was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Kiel. He was also a member of the Kiel Fire Department for 37 years and a member of the Kiel Redmen. Survivors include his daughter (private), one granddaughter; three grandsons; three great granddaughters; and one brother, Robert. He was preceded in death by two brothers. HERBERT GRAF cemetery #20 Herbert Graf, 69, a native of the Town of Eaton (Manitowoc County), died suddenly the past Sunday in Los Angeles. Born Sept. 16, 1889, he is survived by two sons, Truman of Madison and Lloyd of Frederick, Md., nine grandchildren, and a brother, Waldo, R. 1, Kiel. His wife, the former Rose Sell, died in 1927. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John Evangelical and Reformed Church, New Holstein, with the Rev. Charles Koch, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Town of Eaton Cemetery. KATHARINA GRAF cemetery #82 Mrs. Arthur Graf Of Kiel Is Called To Rest At Hone Kiel—(Special—Mrs. Arthur Graf, 62, for the past 20 years a resident of Kiel, passed away at the family home here this morning at 5 o’clock a.m. after being in ill health for several years. She was born August 6, 1877, in the town of Schleswig, daughter of Nicholas and Elizabeth (Manz) Balz. Her given name was Katherine. She was married to Mr. Graf in the same township October 12, 1901. For some time they resided in the town, and then in Hayton, and for the past 20 years in Kiel. Survivors are the husband, one daughter, Mrs. Walter (Roma) Retlich, town of Schleswig; two sons, Arno, of Malone, and Hugo, of Kiel; seven grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Herman Grabs, Mrs. Ernst Damrow, and Mrs. Emma Dedering, all of Kiel, and Mrs. Frank Winkel, town of Schleswig. KATHERINE GRAF cemetery #82 Mrs. Katherine Graf, 77, of 904 6th St., Kiel, died Tuesday evening at St. Nicholas Hospital where she had been a patient for the past several weeks. The former Katherine Klauck was born April 28, 1886, in Marytown, a daughter of the late Frank and Clara Klauck, and attended the district schools at Marytown. On July 11, 1908, she was married in Milwaukee to Oscar Graf of rural Kiel. The couple made their home in Kiel after their marriage where Mr. Graf was a rural mail carrier until his death in 1944. She was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Kiel. Survivors are two sons, Donald of Sheboygan and Jack of Kiel; one daughter, Mrs. Henry (Dorothy) Haneman of Sheboygan; six grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren; five brothers, Edward of Chicago, Jack of Kohler, John of Sheboygan, William of Los Angeles, Calif., and Oscar of Chicago; and two sisters, Mrs. John Heilmeier of Eagle River and Mrs. Adolph Bruns of New Holstein. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Kiel following brief rites at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home. The Rev. LOWELL A. GRAF cemetery #82 Lowell A. Graf, 58, of 1708 Silver Moon Lane, New Holstein, died Monday afternoon, May 22, 1995, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born July 1, 1936 in Kiel, a son of Hugo and Celia Lisowe Graf. He was a 1954 graduate of Kiel High School. On Aug. 2, 1983 he married (private). Lowell was a shipping foreman at Tecumseh Products, New Holstein, for 32 years. He was a sergeant in the National Guard stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash., in the early 1960s. MARIE GRAF cemetery #83 Mrs. Walter J. (Denny) Graf, 53, of 615 Fremont St., Kiel, died Saturday at Toth Nursing Home, Chilton. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Meiselwitz Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. A concelebrated Mass will be offered by the Rev. George Kiefer and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Graf, nee Marie Maltby, was born Sept. 8, 1915, at Stockbridge, daughter of the late Grover Maltby and Mrs. Ella Wingers Maltby. She was educated in Chilton schools and was graduated from Chilton High School in 1933. She was married April 10, 1939, to Walter Graf and the couple operated Denny's Center Tavern. She was a member of the Christian Mothers, GUG, Germania Society, and a charter member of the Yellow Bird Council of Pochahontas. OSCAR GRAF cemetery #82 Oscar Graf, Retired Rural Carrier, Dies Kiel – Oscar Graf, 64, of 904 N. Sixth street, Kiel, well known resident of Kiel and retired rural mail carrier passed away at the St. Nicholas hospital, Sheboygan, at 11 a.m. Thursday, after an illness of 10 months. Deceased was born in the town of Schleswig on January 1, 1880, the son of the late Christian and Catherine (Sinz) Graf. He received his early education in the rural schools of Schleswig township and on July 11, 1908, was married to Miss Katherine Klauck of Kiel, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Klauck, now residents of Kiel. Following their marriage they immediately made Kiel their permanent home where Mr. Graf served as rural mail carrier on Routes 1 and 2, Kiel, for more than 32 years. Mr. Graf retired as mail carrier eight years ago, in 1936. Survivors are his wife, three children, Mrs. Henry (Dorothy) Hannemann of Sheboygan; Sgt. Donald Graf of Camp Mc Coy, Wis, and SC3/C Jack Kenneth Graf of Treasure Island, California, two grandchildren, William and Donald Hannemann, and four brothers, William, of Sheboygan, and Arthur, Albert and Dr. Rudolph Graf of Kiel. Thielske and Miss Della Stoelting sang, “In The Garden,” “The King of Love My Shepherd Is” and “There Is a Land Of Pure Delight.” They were accompanied by Miss Karan Jan Hayner at the piano. Relatives and friends from Sheboygan, Sheboygan Falls, Kohler, Plymouth, Milwaukee, Chicago, Waupun, Fond du Lac, Mequon, Sherwood, Newton, Brillion, Chilton, Cleveland, Elkhart Lake, Reedsville, Sturgeon Bay, Manitowoc, Rochelle, Rosendale, New Holsten, St. Anna, Marytown and town Schleswig attended the rites. ROSE GRAF cemetery #20 Dies From Injuries in Auto Crash New Holstein Woman Dies at Plymouth Early Today Accident Occurred on Sunday Evening Mrs. Herbert Graf Fails to Regain Consciousness and Passes Away as Result of Fractured Skull Sustained in Collision Sunday on Highway 57, a Short Distance from Highway 23 Intersection New Holstein - Without regaining consciousness since her skull was fractured in an auto accident near Plymouth Sunday evening, Mrs. Herbert Graf, 36, died at the Plymouth hospital at 9:30 a.m. today. Occasionally during the past three days she aroused sufficiently from her coma to ask "Where am I?" but her condition rapidly became weaker and she died this morning while members of her family still held hopes for her recovery. Relatives Here Mrs. Graf was a cousin of John and Frank Sell of Sell Brothers store in Sheboygan. Her maiden name was Rose Louise Sell and she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Juergen Sell. The accident which resulted in Mrs. Graf's death occurred on Highway 57 a short distance south of the Highway 23 intersection Sunday evening. The car driven by Mr. Graf collided with a car driven by Harry Steedeman, of Milwaukee. In the car with Mr. and Mrs. Graf were their two sons, Lloyd and Trumann, and Mrs. Alfred Oesau and children, Joan and Gladys, of Kiel. They were returning to their homes after visiting relatives in Milwaukee. Mrs. Graf was born March 1, 1891, on a farm near New Holstein. Her father is dead but her mother, Mrs. Juergen Sell is residing in Sioux City, Iowa. Mrs. Graf attended District No. 3 school, New Holstein high school, and later Oshkosh Normal school. Upon her graduation from Normal school she taught school for eight years and on November 27, 1917, she married Herbert Graf. The couple made their home on the Graf homestead near Meggers. The survivors include Mr. Graf and the two sons, Lloyd and Trumann, three sisters, Mrs. Robert Berndt of Gwinner, S.D., Mrs. Bertha Rickman of Sioux City, Iowa, and Mrs. Juliane Kindgren of Sioux City, two step-sisters, Mrs. John Boockmeier and Mrs. George Thade, Sr., of New Holstein, one brother, Robert Sell of Montrose, Minnesota, and four stepbrothers, John, Herman and George Sell of New Holstein and Charles Sell of Milwaukee. She was a member of the Frauenverein of the Reformed church here and was well known throughout Calumet and Manitowoc counties. Funeral arrangements were not announced today as members of the family were in Plymouth in order to arrange to have the body brought to New Holstein. RUDOLPH GRAF, DR. cemetery #82 Dr. Rudolph Graf Dies At Hospital Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Meiselwitz Funeral Home for Dr. Rudolph Graf, 82, of 242 Seventh Street, who died last week Wednesday evening at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital. The services for the retired dentist were conducted by the Rev. Vernon Jaberg. Burial was in the Kiel cemetery. Dr. Graf was born October 7, 1883, in the Town of Scheswig, son of the late Christian and Catharine Sinz Graf. He was graduated in 1900 from Kiel high school and in 1902 from Oshkosh State University. For five years he taught school in the Kiel area and then enrolled in the Marquette University Dental School from which he received his degree in 1910. He located immediately after his graduation at Kiel and for 53 years practiced dentistry, retiring in 1962. He was an honorary member of the State Dental Society, former school board member and treasurer for 12 years. He married Elsie Berg, August 24, 1916 and she survives with nieces and nephews. VERNA GRAF cemetery #82 Mrs. Arno W. Graf, 60, of Rt. 1, Kiel, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon while employed at Calumet Homestead, New Holstein, of an apparent heart attack. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Malone. The Rev. Jeffrey Nichols will officiate with burial in the Kiel Cemetery. Mrs. Graf, nee Verna Schmidt, was born April 6, 1916, in the Town of Schleswig, daughter of the late Henry W. and Alma Voigt Schmidt. She attended a district school in the area and was married to Lawrence Wollersheim Dec. 26, 1936, operating a cheese factory at Garnet. He preceded her in death Dec. 18, 1949. She continued to operate the cheese factory for several years. She was married to Arno Graf Nov. 13, 1952, locating on a farm on Rt.1, Malone. In 1960, they moved to Louis Corners, where they operated a tavern until 1967, when they moved to the Town of Eaton. Mrs. Graf was a member of St. Paul U.C.C., Womens Guild of the church, Louis Corners Homemakers, G.U.G., Germania Society of Chilton and Yellowbird Council, degree of Pocahontas of Kiel. Survivors include her husband, two sons; three daughters; a step-daughter and three step-sons (Survivors omitted for privacy.); a sister, Mrs. Lucile Conrad, of Rt. 1 Cleveland, 10 grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren. A grandson preceded her in death. Friends may call at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, after 4 p.m. Wednesday until 11 a.m. Thursday and at the church from noon until the time of service. (Denny) Graf, 66, of 615 Fremont St., Kiel, owner and operator of Denny's Center Tavern for 44 years, who died Tuesday morning at the Heritage Nursing Home, Sheboygan, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. The Rev. Roger Zach, OFM Cap., will officiate. Burial will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Kiel. He was born Dec. 2, 1908 in Kiel, a son of the late Albert and Emma Klauck Graf. He attended Kiel public schools and graduated in 1927. On April 10, 1939 he married Marie Maltby at Stockbridge. After marriage the couple resided in Kiel. His wife died March 12, 1969. On Nov. 20, 1971 he married Katherine Duecker at Mt. Calvary. He was a member of the Kiel and Manitowoc County Tavern Leagues, Manitowoc Tribe 49 of the Improve Order of Redmen, an its 24-Hour Club. He was a past great sachum of the Wisconsin Redmen Tribe. Immediate survivors omitted for privacy reasons and two brothers, Harvey and Robert, both of Kiel. A brother preceded him in death. MARION GRAFF cemetery #44 Marion Graff, age 77, of 3131 Southbrook Court, Manitowoc, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at St. Vincent's Hospital, Green Bay. A memorial service welcoming all family and friends will be held at a later date. Marion was born May 31, 1929, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Samuel and Anna Solom Kaplan. She married Daniel A. Graff in 1953. He preceded her in death in 1989. Marion was very active in the community, including volunteering for the Capitol Civic Centre; Holy Family Memorial Medical Center; and the Manitowoc Public Schools. She was an active member of Anshe Poale Zedek Synagogue; the Friends of the Manitowoc Public Library; and Thalia. Survivors include her three children, two grandsons, many other loving relatives and wonderful friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband: Daniel; two brothers: Simon Kaplan and Isadore Kaplan. In lieu of flowers, a mem-orial has been established in Marion's name. O. SHERMAN GRAINGER cemetery #32 O. Sherman "Sherm" Grainger, age 95, died on Saturday morning, Feb. 9, 2008, at St. Mary's Home in Manitowoc. Sherm was born on Aug. 12, 1912, in Manitowoc, son of the late Otis and Lillian (Kurth) Grainger. He attended Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, graduating with the class of 1930. On Sept. 5, 1936, Sherm married the former Sophia Stanul. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve Auxiliary during War World II, from June of 1943 until September of 1945. Sherm was employed as a manager at Kelvinator and later with Manitowoc Equipment Works until his retirement at the age of 64. He was also a member of the Elk's Club in Manitowoc for more than 50 years. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) Sherm was preceded in death by one brother: Kurth Grainger; one sister and brother-in-law: Betty and Carter L. Davidson; and two sisters-in-law: Helen Young and Hattie Strother. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at The St. Mary's Home Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Gerald Foley. Grainger, 59, 1618 Waldo Boulevard, Manitwoc, WI, died unexpectedly early Tuesday morning, March 26, 2002, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. Ray was born January 30, 1943, in Manitowoc, son of Kurth and Loraine Pilger Grainger. he attended local schools graduating grom Lincoln High School in 1961 and graduated from Silver Lake College. He served with U.S. Army Special Forces in Vietnam. He enlisted April 6, 1964, and was honorably discharged March 7, 1968. Ray worked for 27 years for the Manitowoc Public Schools as a custodial supervisor at Lincoln High School. He was married on March 21, 1986, at Manitowoc. Ray was a member of First Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge of Green Bay and American Legion Drews-Bleser Post #88 of Manitowoc. He was a past commander of Post #88. Ray enjoyed golfing and camping. Survivors include his wife, LueAnn; his parents, one son, one daughter and son-in-law, granddaughters, grandsons, three stepchildren, one brother, one sister and brother-in-law, and special friends. ALBERTA PANKRATZ GRALL cemetery #7 Mrs. Joseph Grall died at the Holy Family hospital last night following a short siege of flu-pneumonia. Deceased was born in the town of Cato twenty-three years ago and was married three years ago to the husband who with two children survives her. The family removed to this city two years ago. Besides her husband she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pankratz, of Cato and two brothers Micael and Francis. Funeral arrangements have not been made but will be announced later. He married Eunice A. Schenian April 27, 1940. His wife preceded him in death June 28, 1967. He then married Elaine Miller Feb. 13, 1969. Mr. Grall had been employed by the Hamann Construction Co. of Manitowoc for the past 38 years. He was a member of the Bricklayers and Masons Local No. 12, the Construction Laborers Local No. 1067 and the Holy Name Society of St. Michael Church. He had been in failing health for some weeks. The deceased was born on the homestead farm in 1867 and was married there 37 years ago to Mary Zipperer who survives him with eight children, Mrs. Godfrey Schuh and Mrs. Anton Meyer, Whitelaw, Mrs. John Braun, city, Mrs. Harvey Kohlbeck, Cato, and Edward, Paul, Alfred and Marcella at home. Three brothers, Anton, Wolfgram and John, all of Whitelaw, and three sisters, Mrs. William Brunner, Mrs. John Staudinger, Whitelaw,and Mrs. Jsoeph Kohlbeck, Marshfield, also survive. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the home and at 9:30 a.m. from St. Michael's church at Whitelaw, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. FRED C. GRAMS cemetery #44 Frederick C. Grams, millwright and carpenter, died last night at his home in Francis Creek. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the First Presbyterian church, the Rev. C.H. Phipps officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. Mr. Grams was born in Racine in 1870 and at the age of 16 accompanied his parents to a farm in Gibson. In 1898 he married Miss Emma Grupp. He continued to reside there for a few years learning the carpenter trade and in 1907 moved to Francis Creek where he purchased a mill which he had since operated. Mr. Grams served as a constable in Kossuth for 10 years. He took an active interest in the Francis Creek team in the Manitowoc County Baseball league and served on numerous committees which promoted the interests of that club. Survivors are the widow; three daughters, Mrs. George Moakler of this city, Mrs. Ora Dewey of Chicago, Miss Dailla, of Francis Creek; son Wilmer, of Francis Creek; two sisters, Mrs. John Scherer of this city, Mrs. John Heiser of Kenosha. JOHANA GRAPENTIN cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 19 May 1904: Death on 07 May in Town Newton of Mrs. Christian Grapentin after an illness of several years with rheumatism. The deceased was born 21 Jan. 1841 in Pomerania and was married to her now surviving husband in 1860, the two coming to America in 1869. The couple settled on a farm in Town Newton and have lived there ever since. In addition to her husband, the deceased leaves 2 sons. ADELA GRAPENTINE cemetery #44 Adela L. Grapentine, age 93, of Shady Lane Home, Manitowoc, died early Tuesday morning, August 11, 1992, at Shady Lane Home. Private funeral services for the family were held on Wednesday, August 12, 1992, at the Harrington Parkside Funeral Home. The Rev. Arno Wolfgramm and the Rev. Bruce Bitter will officiate, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. She was born October 22, 1898, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late August and Emma Rube Mahanke. She attended First German Evangelical Lutheran Grade School, and the Manitowoc Public High School from which she graduated. She married William Grapentine on August 16, 1922, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Liberty. He preceded her in death in August, 1950. She was a life long member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, (private); nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Arnold Mahanke; two sisters, Etta Lutzke and Selma Marotek; and one great-grandchild. WALTER W. GRAPENTINE SR. cemetery #32 Walter W. Grapentine Sr., age 87, died Saturday evening, Sept. 23, 2006, at the Aurora Medical Center of Manitowoc County. Private family funeral services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006, at the Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Highway 310, Manitowoc Entombment in the Knollwood Mausoleum followed the service. Walter was born March 19, 1919, in Manitowoc County, son of the late Fred and Alvina Willert Grapentine. He grew up in Manitowoc and was a 1937 graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc. On Sept. 23, 1919, Walter was married to the former Sadie W. Ploeckelman in Manitowoc. Walter worked for the Mirro Company, retiring in 1983. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and coin collecting. WILLIAM GRAS cemetery #82 Mrs. Gras Dies at Home in Town of New Holstein Kiel – (Special) – Mrs. William Gras, 67, died at her home in the town of New Holstein at 8 p.m. Monday after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the C. J. Meiselwitz Funeral Home, and burial will be made in the Kiel cemetery. The Rev. A. G. Schmid, pastor of St. John’s Evangelical Reformed church of New Holstein will have charge of the services. Mrs. Gras was born August 12, 1868, in New Holstein, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Williams. In 1888 she married Louis Bahr, and the family resided in Kiel for many years. In 1905 Mr. Bahr died, and the same year she married William Gras. The family moved to a farm in the town of New Holstein where they have lived since. CHARLES J. GRASSOLD cemetery #82 Charles J. Grassold, 65, a former Kiel resident, died early Saturday morning at his home in Herrick, Ill., following an illness. Born Aug. 2, 1881, in Milwaukee, the deceased served in the Spanish-American war and, after receiving his discharge, moved to Kiel where he was employed by his brother in the Grassold Printing Company. After learning the printing trade, he was employed by the Tri-County Record at Kiel. Sometime later he opened a press shop of his own at Kiel, and for the past 16 years operated a printing company at Herrick, publishers of the Herrick Bulletin. He was married on Nov. 30, 1901 to Miss Mary Daleiden. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Roy (Cora) Nelson, Milwaukee, one grandson, Roy Louis Nelson; a brother, Joseph, Chilton; and three sisters, Mrs. Frank Meyer, Sheboygan, Mrs. Christ Theusch, Chicago, and Mrs. John Nimmesgarn, Milwaukee. Funeral services will be held at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home. The Rev. R. Dreger, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, will officiate, and interment will be made in the Kiel city cemetery. MARY GRASSOLD cemetery #82 Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Mr. Mary Grassold, 73, from the Meiselwitz Funeral Home. The Rev. Allen L. Bowe officiated and burial was made in the Kiel cemetery. Mrs. Grassold suffered a heart attack on her birthday, Tuesday, April 19. Her death occurred early Friday morning at her home. Nee Daleiden, she was born April 19, 1882, in Kiel, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Daleiden. November 30, 1901, she was married to Charles Grassold. He passed away in November, 1946. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Roy (Cora) Nelson of Milwaukee; one grandson, and one brother; Arthur Daleiden of Lena. On Sept. 28, 1940, she married Thomas Graykowski at St. Isadore Catholic Church, Osman. He preceded her in death in 1971. Kathryn was employed at Park Lawn Home for many years, retiring in 1981. She was a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Rosary and Altar Society and presently a member of St. Francis of Assisi. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Thaddeus J. Koszarek will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Graykowski was born March 14, 1909, at Lac du Flambeau, Wis., son of the late Joseph and Anna Kluczykowski Graykowski. He moved to Manitowoc with his family as a child. He married Katherine Knox Sept. 28, 1940, at St. Isidore Catholic Church, Osman. He had been employed by the city of Manitowoc as a bridge tender for the past 18 years and prior to that had operated a service station at 26th and Washington Streets. Mr. Graykowski was a member of the Eagles Aerie No. 706, the St. Mary Holy Name Society and the Manitowoc Old Times Baseball Club. He was well known in Manitowoc area as a baseball player and umpire.
