GLADYS C. GADICKE cemetery #32 Gladys C. Gadicke, age 86, of 3414 Division St., died early Sunday morning at her residence with her loving daughter at her side. Gladys was born on Feb. 18, 1919 in Oconto, daughter of the late John and Mary Cussie Kasbaum. On April 22, 1944 she married Harvey O. Gadicke in Brillion. He preceded her in death on April 25, 1983. (Survivors omitted for privacy) Gladys was also preceded in death by one brother; Earl Kasbaum, one sister and brother-in-law; Evelyn and Albert Bake. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. EDWIN GADZINSKI Cemetery #44 (sent in by researcher/see contributors page) Edwin Gadzinski, age 82, of Manitowoc, died Monday, March 10, 1997, at St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc, where he had been residing for a brief period. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 1997, at First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. Rev. William Plank will officiate with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. He was born August 13, 1914, in Manitowoc, son of the late Thomas and Josephine Markowski Gadzinski. Edwin attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School in Manitowoc. He was employed with Mirro Aluminum for 48 years retiring in 1979. He married Carol J. Krumdick April 12, 1941, at First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. Edwin was a member of the Northeastern Great Lakes Sport Fisherman Club. He greatly enjoyed sports and in the past years he played baseball and bowled. Edwin loved his gardening skills which he took great pride in over the years. Survivors include his wife, Carol; one son and daughter-in-law, two daughters and sons-in-law, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one brother and sister-in-law, two sisters and one brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends surviving. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Leonard, Alois, Florian, Thomas, Victor and Sylvester Gadzinski, two sisters, Rose Tollefson and Lillian Stelzer. Friends may call at First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.. A special thank you to Dr. Edward J. LILLIAN GAEDKE Cemetery #44 From the Two Rivers Reporter, Monday August 3, 1953 Gaedke Mrs. Herman Gaedke, 84, of Rt. 1, Reedsville, died Sunday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Reedsville Funeral Home, the Rev. Arthur Wadzinski of Denmark officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Gaedke, nee Lillian Kruse, was born in 1869 in the town of Brillion, Calumet County. She was married in 1886 to Herman Gaedke who died in 1941. The couple farmed in the town of Maple Grove until 1904 and then moved to the present farm on Rt. 1, Reedsville which is located in Brown County. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Martha Liermann of Manitowoc and Mrs. Louis Wienke of Valders; two sons, Emil and Herman on the home farm; a sister, Mrs. Fred Kanke of Brillion; one grandchild and one great grandchild. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday.

EDWARD GAERTHOEFFNER cemetery #21 ST. NAZIANZ - With the passing of Edward Gaerthhoffner(sic) this village has lost another of its well-known and highly respected residents and one who had spent his entire life of a little more than 53 years here. After an illness of about one year, during the last half of which Mr. Gaerthoeffner endured much suffering, he passed away at 3 o'clock last Saturday afternoon surrounded by the members of his immediate family. Edward Gatrthoeffner(sic) was born Aug. 17, 1877, in this village and attended parochial school here. He followed the trade of a painter and decorator and assisted in other kinds of work whenever work in that was slack, and was associated in one way or another with most of the important undertakings of this community. On June 3, 1901, he was united in marriage with Miss Christina Koenig and to this union two daughters were born. Funeral services for Mr. Gaerthoeffner will be held at St. Gregory's church with mass to be celebrated at 9:30 Tuesday morning by the pastor, Rev. Fintan Holzknecht, R.D.M.m and interment will be made in the village cemetery. The esteem in which Mr. Gaerthoeffner was held has been clearly shown by the large number of friends who have called at the home during the past few days and the sympathy of the entire community is with the members of the bereaved family. MICHAEL GAERTHOEFFNER cemetery #21 (sent in by researcher-see contributors page) This obituary can be found in the Tri-County Record, Kiel, Wisconsin. Issue Thursday, October 7, 1920 Page 4, Column 1 Michael Gaerthoeffner, a well-known resident of the county, passed away on the homestead farm of his son Joseph near here last Friday, after a lingering illness with diabetes. The deceased was a native of Germany, where he was born July 18, 1848; he came to this country with his parents, who settled in this section. Mr. Gaerthoeffner was married about 45 years ago to Mary Schwab, who preceded him in death 3 1/2 years ago. He was a carpenter by trade but was a farmer for a number of years past. He is survived by seven children, viz: Edward, George and Joseph of St. Nazianz and Theodore of Antigo, Mrs. Martin Lutz, Mrs. Jos. Lutz and Mrs. Frank Resch of Sheboygan; also one brother, Joseph of Sheboygan, 22 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. The funeral took place on Monday forenoon, from St. Gregory's church, with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Deibele officiated.

ETHEL R. GAGNER cemetery #44 Ethel R. Gagner, age 79, of Manitowoc, died Monday evening, Nov. 29, 2004, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Green Bay. She was born April 11, 1925, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Michael and Dorina Hansen Pilger. Ethel was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1943. On July 17, 1943, she married Ward Gagner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1949. Ethel worked for Dr. VanElls for approximately 10 years. She then was employed with the county of Manitowoc as a clerical assistant working for the Human Services Department until her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a special friend and cousin, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Patricia Gagner in 1968; and a great-granddaughter: Ashley Zeman in 2001. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, until the time of service at 11 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. DAVID GAGNON cemetery #89B From Der Nord Westen, 18 Dec. 1902: (From the correspondent in Two Rivers, 15 Dec.) The 8-yr. old son and only child of fisherman Peter Gagnon locally, climbed a scaffolding near Müller's icehouse last Sat. and had the misfortune to fall 40 feet to the ground fracturing his skull. The boy died from his injuries Sun. evening. It is a severe blow for Mr. Gagnon who has been a widower for the past 5 yrs.

Mrs. Gagnon had gone to the hospital in Manitowoc to undergo an operation, but the doctors weren't able to help her. She was a fine lady who leaves 12 children, 2 of whom are married. ********** From Der Nord Westen, 19 Mar. 1908: Death in Holy Family Hospital here Wednesday evening last week of Mrs. Peter Gagnon of Two Rivers following an operation which she had undergone a few days earlier. The deceased, wife of a business man in Two Rivers, reached the age of 60. She was the mother of 17 children of whom 14 still live. The funeral was held Saturday in Two Rivers.

JONAS GAGNON cemetery #89B Jonas Gagnon Called by Death- Another of the old timers of Two Rivers passed away Saturday night; when Jonas Gagnon died quite suddenly of heart trouble from which he suffered more or less for several years. Mr. Gagnon was born in Dunham Can., 1846. His father and mother settled here when Jonas was two years of age. Mr. Gagnon received a common school education in the two department school which was where Nille's shoe store is located. He went to school in the winter and helped his father fish in the summer time. He was for twenty years captain of the tug M.E. Gagnon. It was the first tug to be used in the fishing industry here. Ex-Mayor Peter Gagnon was engineer and Jos. Gagnon was lineman. The three brothers owned the tug which was built at Manitowoc in 1874. After disposing of their tug Mr. Gagnon engaged in the Mercantile business with his brother Peter and under the name of Gagnon Bros. conducted their store on the corner of 17th and Jefferson Sts. until 1900. Mr. Gagnon has been quite prominent in political affairs of the county. In 1898 he was assemblymen for the second district of Manitowoc County. Captain Gagnon was also school commissioner five years and served as county supervisor nine years. Mr. Gagnon is survived by his wife and five daughters, Mesdames E.J. Vaudreuil, George Martin, Hy. Wierzbach, Chas. Kotchi and Miss Jennie Gagnon. The funeral took place Tuesday morning from St. Luke's Church. Two Rivers Reporter, Friday, July 9, 1915

Joe was born April 16, 1918, in Two Rivers, son of the late John S. and Elmyra Allie Gagnon. He was a graduate of Washington High School with the class of 1936. Joe served in Ordnance Division of the U.S. Army from January 1942 to December 1945. On May 10, 1947, he married the former Rose M. Marek at St. Luke Church, Two Rivers. Joe was employed at Kelvinator Commercial Products, Manitowoc, for 33 years, retiring in 1982. He served on the Two Rivers City Council from 1967 to 1978 and was a county board supervisor from 1978 to 1992. Joe was a member of the International Association of Machinists #2064, American Legion Post #165 of Two Rivers, the Catholic Knights Branch #15 and the Two Rivers Senior Citizens. ELIZABETH GALBRAITH cemetery #44 Manitowoc Pilot, May 24, 1877 Died - At the home of her son, Captain Gilbraith, of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, May 17th, 1877, Mrs. Elizabeth Gilbraith, aged 61 years. Mrs. Gilbraith was married to her now bereaved husband, in Scotland forty-two years age. About one year after her marriage, she united with the Presbyterian church, of which she continued a member ???? transferred to that church "that is without ???." For about one year, she had been ill with consumption; and during the last four months, was confined to her bed. She is spoken of by those who knew her, as a devout Christian woman. Her little granddaughter passed to the heavenly country, only a few days before. Who knows but little Martha was among the first to meet grandmother at the gate? In the absence of the Pastor, the funeral services were conducted by the writer, from II Corinthians, 5th, ?? John W. Olmsted.

She was active with the Manitowoc Girl Scout Council and owned and operated Vanity Beauty Shop, Two Rivers, for many years. He was born in Gramson, Germany, on 18 Apr. 1818 and came to America in 1857 settling on a farm in Town Franklin which he worked until 1884 when he retired to Manitowoc. He is survived by 5 children. PHILIP GARBER cemetery #43 Note: Please find following this message, the obituaries for my mother-in-law's grandfather. Philip Garvey. My mother-in-law was a Garber and no one knows of the explanation why the name got changed from Garvey to Garber. The Manitowoc Co. records show the name both ways for his four children. As we understand it, He married an Irish Woman (Ms. Haloran), but my mother-in-law thought that he himself was German (however there is an Irish immigrant, namely Patrick Garvey, buried in the Calvary Cemetery). "A FATAL ACCIDENT. Philip Garvey, aged forty-six years, died at the Holy Family hospital on Wednesday morning, Feb. 6, after having been unconscious for about for hours, as a result of a fall down a coal chute. The accident occurred Monday afternoon, Feb. 4, when Mr. Garvey, who was employed as a teamster, was about to unload a load of coal at the hospital. The unfortunate man had his skull fractured in the fall. He never regained consciousness. Garvey leaves a wife and two small children-a son and a daughter-to mourn his loss. The decedent was a brother-in-law of James Holleran, He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Cato lodge. The funeral was held last Saturday morning from the St. Boniface church in this city. Interment took place at Calvary cemetery. Mr. Garvey's untimely end is deplored by all who knew him, and the bereaved family have the sympathy of the community in their sore affliction. The family home is near the plant of the Clay company, Mr. Garvey having been an employe of that concern." There was no break in the skull and physicians attending decided that an operation would do no good. It is said that in the fall Garvey burst a blood vessel in the brain and the hemorrhage was a severe one that caused death. The dead man was 46 and is survived by a widow and two children who reside at the plant of the Manitowoc Clay Product Co. Philip Garvey Fails to Survive Fracture of the Skull Philip Garvey, who had his skull fractured Monday afternoon by falling backward through a coal chute at the Holy Family hospital, died at midnight last night without having regained consciousness. There was no hope practically from the start for his recovery. Deceased was 46 years of age and is survived by his parents, wife and two children. He has been employed by G. W. Kennedy in driving a team for some time. The funeral will take place Friday morning at nine o'clock from the St. Boniface church. Jahrgang Accident with deadly result Philip Garvey, who was in the service of G. W. Kennedy, had the misfortune last week Monday of falling through a basement window of Holy Family Hospital, for which he has delivered an order of coal, and to fall loading to a skull fracture. He slid down the coal drop and fell through the open basement window with his head hitting the sill. He was found in an unconscious state and taken up to the hospital. On Tuesday, an operation was attempted in order to where possible save his life, but without success. He Passed away on Wednesday morning, without having regained consciousness, at the age of 46 years. He left behind his wife and too children. Philip Garvey, Fuhrmann der Manitowoc Clay Product Co. zog sich durch einen Sturz im Hospital zur heiligen Familie, einen schweren, tödtlichen Schädelbruch zu. Garvey, der mit seiner Familie ein Haus in den Höfen der Clay Pr. Co. bewohnt, ist von seinen Arbeitgebern einer der geschätztesten Angestellten. Er war an seinen Unglückstage, letzten Montag, beschäftigt, eine Fuhre Kohlen in dem Hospital abzuliefern. Beim Durchgang zum Maschinenhaus stürzte er eine vier Fuß hohe Treppe herunter und schlug hierbei so schwer mit dem Kopf gegen einen Stapel Ziegelsteine, daß er bewustlos liegen blieb und auch bis zum Dienstag, ohne zu sich gekommen zu sein, im Hospital lag. Ohne sein Bewustfein wieder erlangt zu haben, ist der Schwerverletzte am Mittwoch Morgen verschieden. Der so plötzlich und schrecklich seiner Familie Entriffene, erreichte ein Lebensalter von 46 Jahren. Er ist Vater einer Familie und eine kränkliche Gattin und zwei Kinder überleben ihn. Philip Garvey, Carter (teamster) of Manitowoc Clay Product Co. drew himself through an accident at the Holy Family Hospital, a severe, deadly skull fracture. Garvey, who with his family inhabited a house in the Clay Pr. Co. district was according to his employer one of the most treasured employees. On his misfortunate day, last Monday he occupied himself with a coal delivery to the Hospital. On his way through the maintenance house he plunged down a four-foot high step and hit in this way, his head so hard against a pile of bricks that he died there in the hospital remaining unconscious also into Tuesday without coming to. Without him having regained consciousness, the badly injured passed on. The man was so suddenly and horribly met his maker, reached an age of 46 years. Lorraine was born Feb. 5, 1927 in Two Rivers, daughter of the late William and Martha (Doncheck) Cornils. She graduated with the class of 1945 from Washington High School, Two Rivers, On Nov. 30, 1946, Lorraine married Robert W. Garceau at St. Mark Catholic Church, Two Rivers. He preceded her in death Dec. 6, 1994. Lorraine was a member of the Penny Pinchers Club, a lifelong member of St. Mark Catholic Church, St. Mark Ladies Society and a former member of the Two Rivers Senior Center. He was employed as a city of Two Rivers Firefighter for several years. He then became a self-employed mason contractor and upon closing the business Robert became employed at the Two Rivers Senior Center as the Meals On Wheels Coordinator until the present time. He was a member of the Manitowoc County Master Builders and an active member of St. Mark’s Church for 48 years. Surviving are his wife, Edna; a daughter, Mrs. Carolyn (Raymond) Diem of rural Kiel; three sons, Herbert (Trudy) and Edwin Jr. (Betty) of rural Kiel; and Gary (Pam) of West Allis; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A daughter, Donna; a grandson, three brothers and a sister preceded him in death. HERMAN GARLIEB cemetery #87 Retired Town Of Meeme Farmer Is Called To Rest Kiel.—Herman Garlieb, aged 67, retired town of Meeme farmer, passed away at the Sheboygan Memorial hospital on Monday evening at 8:20 following a brief illness since last Saturday. The deceased, the son of Christian and Augusta Koeppen Garlieb, was born on the Garlieb homestead farm in Meeme township on Feb. 28, 1873, and on which farm he has resided until 1916 when he disposed of it and resided with his brother August, also of the town of Meeme. For the past eight years Mr. Garlieb has been making his home with the George Wick family in School Hill. Survivors are an only brother, August, and a nephew. Funeral services will be held from the Meiselwitz Funeral Home here on Thursday afternoon at 1:30 and at the Zion Ev Lutheran church at Louis Corners at 2 o’clock. The Rev. Harold 0. He was born June 21, 1907 in Centerville, son of the late Julius and Emma Kono Gartzke. He attended schools in Centerville and New Holstein. On Oct. 23, 1926 he married Verla Wagenknecht at St. Peter United Church of Christ in Kiel. She preceded him in death on Nov. 16, 1975. He farmed in the Kiel area and also was an agent for the Standard Oil Co. for the Kiel area prior to his retirement in 1972. He was a faithful member of St. Peter UCC, Kiel, where he served on consistory, ushers group and assisted with the church landscaping for many years. He was also a member of the Kiel Athletic Association, Kiel and Manitowoc County Fish and Game Association, Kiel Development committee, Manitowoc County Committee on Aging and very active in Kiel Senior Citizens groups and Meals on Wheels Program. Survivors include one son, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Schwartz of Howards Grove; nieces, nephews and many friends. He preceded her in death Nov. 29, 1965. Leona married Herman Gass on June 1, 1968, at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church. He preceded her in death March 28, 2000. The deceased was born February 28, 1852 in Theeren, Germany, and was united in marriage to Carl Gast on March 22, 1878, In 1896 the couple came to this country and settled in Kiel. In 1904 they moved onto a farm in the town of Eaton. In the fall of 1919 they moved to this city making their home with their son, Paul. Her husband preceded her in death seven years ago. She is survived by six children. They are: Mrs. Charles Schroeder and Paul Gast of this city; Otto and Herman of Milwaukee; William Gast of Conrad, Montana; and Mrs. Clemens AnhAlt of Meggers. One brother, August Kemps of Berlin, Germany, and sixteen grandchildren also mourn her death.

JOSEPHINE GATES CLAIMED SUDDENLY AT 76 Well Known Eastside Resident Taken; Funeral Services on Saturday Mrs Josephine Gates, 76, a well known resident of the eastside for more than a half century, died suddenly at her home at 1810 East st., at seven o'clock Wednesday night. She had been ailing for several weeks. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock in Sacred Heart Catholic church, the Rev. Joseph Gabryszek officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross cemetery. The body may be viewed at Beduhn funeral home tonight until the hour of services. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 8 o'clock Friday night. Born at Newton Mrs. Gates, nee Josephine Monka, familiarly known among her eastside friends as "Grandma Gates," was born in the town of Newton, January 22, 1868. When she was but a child, the family moved to the town of Two Rivers. She was married here to Peter Gates 60 years ago and he preceded her in death eight years ago. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1936. Leaves 10 Children Surviving Mrs. Gates are four daughters, Mrs. Mary Wiltgen of this city, Mrs. Samuel Nelson of Spring Hill, Manitowoc; Mrs. Carloss Hollenbeck, Kenosha, and Mrs. Clarence McCue of Milwaukee and six sons, John, Joseph, Van, Louis and Peter, all of this city, and George Gates of Milwaukee. She also leaves three brothers, Frank of the eastside, Joseph of Manitowoc, and Alex Monka, of Michigan. There are also 25 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Mrs Gates was a member of the Rosary society of Sacred Heart church for many years.

JAMES GATON cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 04 Apr. 1889: On Sun., James Gaton, one of the few Colored residents of our city, passed away. He had lived here for 35 yrs. and for many years practiced the barber's trade. He was in his 75th year and died of the debility of old age. He was buried Tues. in the City Cemetery. James Gaton was not born a slave, as many here believed, but was born in Steuben Co., New York, as the son of free parents. His grandparents, however, were slaves.

RENOLA GAU cemetery #20 MRS. HUGO GAU Mrs. Hugo Gau, 79, of R. 1, Kiel, died Wednesday night at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient 10 days. The former Renola Shell was born Jan. 11, 1892 in Parrott, Ga., daughter of the late Wesley and Bettie Smith Shell. She later moved to Grand Rapids, Mich. where she was married to Andrew Bosma of New Holstein. They lived in New Holstein until his death in 1934. On Dec. 7, 1937, she married Mr. Gau of the Town of Eaton (Manitowoc County). They lived on the Gau homestead farm. Survivors are her husband; three daughters, two step~daughters, a stepson, 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. AUGUST GAUGER Cemetery #44 Two Rivers Reporter, Aug. 11, 1937 Smith at Manitowoc Writes Own Obituary Manitowoc (Special)- August A Gaugher, 61, knew what he wanted from life- -and he knew what he wanted in death. As far as it is possible for any man he obtained both. August Gauger knew what to expect of the future, too. He saw to that. When he died at his home last night his family only to write the words "August 13th" in the obituary August Gauger wrote in his own hand two years ago. Here it is, just as Mr. Gauger wrote it and wanted it printed: "August A. Gauger, well known Washington street blacksmith and horseshoer, died after a lingering illness of heart trouble. He was born in this city December 8, 1875 at the old homestead on South 15th street, which he still occupied at the time of his death. He attended the old third ward school until he was 14 years of age, when he was called upon by his father to learn the blacksmith and shoeing trade which he worked for 66 years. His health failing, he was forced to quit the trade. The old Gauger blacksmith shop was erected in 1870. It was equipped with an old time ox frame to shoe oxen, which was used extensively in those days. After serving a number of years as apprentice Mr. Gauger's father entered into a partnership with him under the name of O. Gauger and Son. After his father became incompetent and retired he went into partnership with the following well-known blacksmiths-Charles Zinkel, Bern Kitserow and Phil Heidorf. Mr. Heidorf is still operating the shop and it is the last horseshoeing shop in the city today." "Mr. Gauger was married in 1899 to Amanda Baerwaldt of this city who survives with one daughter, Mrs. Otto Rapp, one grandchild, and two brothers, Edward of this city and John of Porterville, California. Mr. Gauger was an active member of the old Manitowoc Turn verein serving as Turning Teacher for (illegible) years until the Verien finally disbanded." "Although his education was limited, Mr. Gauger succeeded in passing the civil service examination and was appointed substitute mail carrier under Postmaster Harry Kress. At that time the mail was collected from the corner mail box with a horse and cart. He was a charter member of the old Manitowoc County Blacksmiths' association, also a charter member of the Master Horseshoers Protective association of America. Hew as a member of the following lodges: the E. R. A., the Beavers, and the local Aerie of Eagles, who will conduct the funeral services. The body was taken to the funeral home of Pfeffer's, 929 South 14th street, where it will stay until the day of burial. Burial will be at 2 p.m. on August 13th, Friday. CHARLOTTE S. GAUGER cemetery #17 (From the Obituary Book of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Maribel: 20 June 1888...edited) Charlotte Sophia Gauger born Sturm died Thursday afternoon. She was born March 21, 1830, in Gutzlaffshagen in Pommern, and baptized and confirmed the same place. She immigrated with her parents in 1851, and married Karl Gauger the following year in Freistadt, subsequently moving here and joined the congregation. They had five children, all still living. In the last few years, she has frequently suffered with violent convulsive fits, and a few months ago, circumstances prompted her and her husband to move to Kewaunee county. In spite of medical attention, her health deteriorated and they returned. The doctor's report indicated that gangrene had set in with the abdominal inflammation, resulting in her death. She was 58 years, 2 months, 29 days. May she rest in peace.

EMMA A.R. GAUGER cemetery #17 From Der Nord Westen, 23 Nov. 1893: Death on Sat. last week of Emma Gauger, of bronchitis, in Rosecrans, Town Cooperstown. The 9 yr. old girl was the daughter of Mr. Franz Gauger and was buried Mon. in the St. Johannes Cemetery of Cooperstown.

LOUISA GAUGER cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 14 June 1894: Death on Tues. morning, quite suddenly, of Mrs. Louise Gauger, wife of Carl Gauger of Manitowoc. The deceased, who reached the age of 41 yrs. 8 mos., was pleased with her good health, until suffering a sudden heart attack. Her passing is difficult for Carl Gauger who enjoyed 20 yrs. of happy married life with the deceased, and is joined in his sorrow by his 3 children. JACOB GAUGH cemetery #10 Jacob Gaugh/Geb. 13 Oct. 1834/Gest. 19 Dec. 1901, next to: From Der Nord Westen, 26 Dec. 1901: Death in Centerville on Thurs. last week of Jacob Gouch of stomach cancer. He was born 13 Oct. 1834 in Argenthal, near Koblenz, and came to America in (very light print, but might be 1852) and is survived by his widow, one daughter and one grandchild. The funeral was held Mon. with Hubert Falge from here delivering the funeral oration.

OTTO GAUKEL cemetery #13 From Der Nord Westen, 10 Jan. 1895: Death in Cleveland on Sun. afternoon of Mr. Otto Gaukel at the age of 41. He was born 16 Nov. 1853 in Württemberg and came to America with his parents at the age of 11. He served 21 yrs. as a schoolteacher, first in Washington Co. at Peter & Paul, and then 11 yrs. at St. Wendel. For the last 2 yrs. he worked at Cleveland House here. He is survived by his widow and 5 daughters. He was a member of the Catholic Knights and was insured for $2,000. The funeral took place yesterday morning at 10 a.m.

AGNES M. GAUTHIER cemetery #89D Agnes M. Gauthier, 94, a resident of Hamilton Memorial Home, Two Rivers, died Monday morning, March 15, 1999, at Hamilton Home. Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Rev. Larry Seidl will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. She was born February 22, 1905, in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Wenzel and Dora Zachek Soucek. On June 24, 1924, she married Lawrence A. Gauthier at St. Luke Catholic Church. He preceded her in death May 7, 1980. Agnes was a member of the Ladies of St. Luke. ANGELINE GAUTHIER cemetery #89B From Der Nord Westen, 20 Feb. 1908: (From the correspondent in Two Rivers, 17 Feb.) A large funeral was held here Saturday morning. A young lady, a daughter of Irwin Gautier(sic), died of consumption at age 17 and was buried from the Catholic Church.

ANTOINE GAUTHIER cemetery #89B From Der Nord Westen, 05 Jan. 1905: Death week before last of 72-yr. old Anton Gauthier in the Old Soldiers Home in Waupaca, where he had been for many years. The Civil War veteran was born in St. Joseph, Canada, and served during the war with the 27th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment. After his war service he settled in Kewaunee, but later moved to Two Rivers where he resided 15 yrs. He leaves his sorrowing widow, who will continue to live in the above facility, as well as 3 sons and a daughter. The body was taken to Two Rivers and laid to rest there.

BENJAMIN G. (BEN) GAUTHIER cemetery #33 Benjamin G. (Ben) Gauthier, age 80, of Two Rivers, died Tuesday morning, September 9, 1997, at Two Rivers Community Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 12, 1997, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be Rev. David Arndt with burial to follow at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Kossuth. He was born August 15, 1917, in the town of Two Rivers, son of the late Richard and Ella Oestrich Gauthier. He married the former Ruth Krause on September 21, 1946, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Ben was employed at Hamilton Manufacturing for 21 years. Ben and his wife, Ruth owned and operated the Park Lunch in Two Rivers from 1965 until 1981 when the couple retired. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. CARLIS GAUTHIER Cemetery 89B From the Two Rivers Reporter, Friday, March 17, 1911 Mr. Carles(sic) Gauthier, age 81, died here last Saturday. He was buried Tuesday morning. The funeral took place at St. Luke's church. Mr. Gauthier was a veteran of the civil war. His comrades members of the Jos. Rankin Post G.A.R. accompanied his body to the grave. Mr. Gauthier was one of the early settlers of Two Rivers. He was a man of exemplary habits. A family of grown-up children mourn the loss of a dear father.

HARRIET (LAFOND) GAUTHIER Cemetery 89B Two Rivers Reporter, Friday, March 24, 1916: Gauthier - Death claimed Mrs. Chas. L. Gauthier at her home on the Eastside last week Thursday. She had been ill for nearly three months with a complication of diseases. The deceased was born in this city 46 years ago, being a daughter of Alfred Lafond. In 1889 she was married to Chas. L. Gauthier. Besides her husband, ten children, three sisters and four brothers mourn her untimely death. The children ar Mrs. Archie Gloe, Mrs. Wm. Strong, Theresa, Oscar, Andrienne, Nora, Lucille, Leo, Leona and Alfred. Several of the children are small and need the care of the loving mother who has been summoned so sadly from their midst. The funeral occurred Monday morning from St. Luke's Church. Among the many out of town friends present were Godfrey Lafond of Milwaukee and Mrs. S. Gagnon of Sheboygan.

JOSEPH GAUTHIER Cemetery #43 From the Two Rivers Reporter, Thursday, February 7, 1946 AGED BROTHER IS SUMMONED Joseph Gauthier, County Pioneer, Taken Joseph Gauthier, 92, pioneer resident of the county, died yesterday afternoon at the home of his son, Louis, in Manitowoc Rapids. He fell and suffered a broken hip two months ago. Funeral services will be held at Manitowoc at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Pfeffer funeral home and at 9 o'clock at the St. Pauls's Catholic church, the Rev. Martin Jaeckels officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Mr. Gauthier was born in St. Joseph, Canada, in 1854, and came to this county when a boy. In 1888 he married Miss Mary Roemer and they located in Manitowoc Rapids. He followed the carpenter trade for many years. Mrs. Gauthier died 28 years ago. Survivors are a son, Louis, of Manitowoc Rapids; two brothers, Frank of Two Rivers and John of Munising, Mich.; two sisters Mrs. Olive Le Clair of Two Rivers, Mrs. Delia Schleicker of Kenosha; 13 grand- children and six great grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Naumann preceded him in death.

JUNE G. GAUTHIER cemetery #32 June G. Gauthier, age 84, of Two Rivers, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at her residence. June was born Jan. 1, 1921 in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Arthur P. and Florence (Schultz) Marineau. She attended Two Rivers public schools and graduated from Washington High School with the class of 1939. On Nov. 20, 1941, June married Robert 0. Gauthier in Two Rivers. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1985. June was employed at Hamilton Manufacturing Company for 24 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Two Rivers Historical Society, Two Rivers Homemakers and associate member of the Visually Handicapped Support Group, Veterans Auxiliary and the Two Rivers Senior Center. June was also the coordinator of volunteers in the surgical family waiting room at Two Rivers and Aurora Hospitals and enjoyed knitting caps for the newborn babies there. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2005 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. LESLIE C. GAUTHIER cemetery #32 Leslie C. Gauthier, age 78, of Two Rivers, died early Tuesday morning Oct. 2, 2001 at the Aurora Medical Center Two Rivers. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, 20Ol at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Edward Stelter, with entombment to follow in Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, town of Kossuth. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the American Legion & V.F.W. Posts. Les was born May 7, 1923 in Two Rivers, son of the late David “Kelly” and Wanda Petrashek Gauthier. He attended public grade school and Vocational School in Two Rivers. On Dec. 29, 1942 he entered the U.S. Army, serving during WWII. He was a member of the 252 nd Battalion Hdqts. Co., serving in Europe during the Battle of the Bulge. Les worked as a field lineman and received numerous metals(sic). He was honorably discharged from service on Feb. 9, 1946. On July 1, 1972 he was married to Harriet Mandel in Two Rivers. Les was employed for a number of years at the Metal Ware Corp. in Two Rivers, and later with Hamilton Mfg. Co., retiring in 1988. Mr. Gauthier served on the church council of Our Savior Lutheran Church for many years; he also volunteered many hours at the church. Les played a number of instruments, playing publicly for many years with the “Melody Makers”. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed woodworking and was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Manitowoc County Fish & Game Assoc. VICTOR H. GAUTHIER cemetery #89D Victor H. Gauthier, age 78 of Two Rivers, died Saturday, January 13, 2001 at North Ridge Medical & Rehabilitation Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday January 17, 2001 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. William G. O’Brien, with burial tO follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the V.F.W. and American Legion Posts. Vic was born February 4, 1922 at Claybanks, WI son of the late Grover (Kelly) & Jenny Morreau Gauthier. He attended St. Luke Parochial School, and Two Rivers Washington High School, graduating with the class of 1941. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945 in the battle of the bulge. On November 9, 1943 he was married to Ethel Wolfe in Two Rivers. She preceded him in death July 15, 1985. He then married June (Volz) Hoopes, March 3, 1990. She also preceded him in death. On February 14, 1996 he was married to Margaret (Royer) Feuerstein in Two Rivers. Vic owned & operated Vic’s Bar in Two Rivers for 27 years. While operating the bar, he was also a Blatz Beer distributor for 14 years. In 1978, Vic bought the Riverfront Beer & Liquor, which he operated until retiring in 1986. Vic was very proud of having been a member of Washington High School State Basketball Championship Team of 1941. He was a member of the AmVets, and the Disabled American Veterans, and enjoyed miniature bowling for many years.
