GEORGE W. FRICKE cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 07 Dec. 1899: On Tues. last week George Fricke, the well-known brick maker, was working in the clay pit of his brickyard when a wall collapsed. Mr. Fricke quickly jumped out of the way to avoid being buried by the mass, but his leg was struck and broken. He was taken home and put under a doctor's care. The bone was set, bound and everything appeared to be going well until Mrs. Fricke noticed Wed. night that he was in his bed unconscious and breathing heavily. Efforts to revive him were fruitless. He remained unconscious until his death at 9 a.m. Sat. The doctors are of the opinion that his death followed an accumulation of blood around the brain. The deceased was born in Germany in 1842 and came to America in his youth, spending many years in our city. He leaves a widow and 5 children. The funeral was Tues. ******** CROSSED DIVIDING LINE. George Fricke, Responds to Final Summons-Death at 9 a.m. George Fricke, the well known brick maker, crossed the dark chasm and entered into the great unknown at 9 o'clock this morning. His death was entirely unexpected and will come as a shock to his many friends, who were not aware that his condition was alarming. Several days ago Mr. Fricke, while at work at the brick-yard sustained the fracture of a limb by the caving in of a clay bank. He was removed to his home and a doctor summoned. The patient seemed to improve and suffered no pain whatever. Late Wednesday evening Mrs. Fricke noticed that her husband breathed heavily and with considerable effort. The attending physician was called, but it was found impossible to restore the patient to conciousness and after remaining in a stupor two days he answered the summons, breathing his last at 9 o'clock. Physicians are of the opinion that death was due to thrombus of the brain, a clogging of the blood vessels, in effect the same as appoplexy. It is not thought that Mr. Fricke sustained internal injuries in the accident of a few days ago, although the heavy breathing is thought to have been due to a thrombus of the lungs also. Deceased was born in Germany in August 1842. He has been a resident of this city many years and had conducted the brick yard most of the time. He was a careful, conservative business man, quiet and unassuming and thoroughly honest and upright. A good husband and a kind father, he will be sadly missed by the widow and five children, four sons and one daughter, who survive him. The funeral will probably be held Tuesday afternoon. HENRY FROMM (d. 1915) cemetery #82 SCHLESWIG MAN ENDS OWN LIFE, MIND UNBALANCED FAMILY FLEES HOME IN FEAR OF HENRY FROEMME(sic) AND MAN THEN DRINKS QUANTITIES OF PARIS GREEN AND DIES Alone in his home when his wife and ten children had fled during the night in fear of him, Henry Froemme, a town of Schleswig man, mind unbalanced by brooding over fancied troubles, committed suicide by drinking a quantity of paris green early Sunday morning. Froemme was found dying in bed when his wife returned to the home at 8 o'clock and physicians who were summoned were unable to save the man. Froemme was 49 years old. Froemme had returned to his home Saturday night in sullen mood and his peculiar actions caused members of the family to become apprehensive that he intended some violence. After the family had retired Froemme left his bed, locked all doors of the house and barricaded some of them with the furniture. Mrs. Foemme, alarmed, sought to leave the house to summon help but when she attempted to open a door was restrained by her husband. Later the wife made her escape through a window after a struggle in which her clothing was torn by Froemme who sought to detain her. Mrs. Froemme reached the home of a neighbor where Froemme and his 10 year old son later found her and the husband insisted she return home. The woman declined however though she said she would return in the morning. The ten children of the family then joined the mother and were cared for by neighbors. Fearful that Froemme might fire the home or do himself violence Mrs. Froemme implored neighbors to visit the house and investigate and Froemme was found seated in the kitchen but refused to have anything to do with his callers. He was then left alone and when Mrs. Froemme returned to the house at 8 o'clock Sunday morning the man was apparently sleeping in his room. A few minutes later, however, Mrs. Froemme found evidence that her husband had taken poison when particles of paris green were found in a drinking dipper. A physician was summoned from Kiel but Froemme died a short time later. Coroner Falge, District Attorney Schmitz and Sheriff Engelbrecht who were notified, left for Schleswig Sunday afternoon to investigate and after learning the fact decided that the case was one of suicide and that no inquest was necessary. Froemme is said to have been acting strangely for two weeks past. He was a farmer and is said to have been prosperous. Lately he had been employed in a factory at Kiel. The home is a mile from that village. The burial will be at Schleswig. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Tuesday, June 01, 1915, Page 1 ******** Heinrich Fromm, who lives at the north side of the village limits committed suicide by drinking a mixture of Paris Green and Eagle Lye. He had a family argument on Saturday evening and his wife and 2 small children went to stay with neighbors and when they returned to their home the next morning they found Mr. Fromm in his bed with signs of being poisoned. Dr. Mattes was called but the poison already had caused his death. He was 49 years old and was born in Pommern, Germany. The family lived in Kiel for 17 years and he was employed at the Kiel Furniture Co. He is survived by his wife and 8 children. The burial is Wednesday afternoon in the Kiel Cemetery with Pastor Rech officiating. Plymouth Post, June 5, 1915

RAY G. FROSCH cemetery #44 County Stove Pioneer, Dies Grimms - Ray G. Frosch, veteran hardware and automobile dealer and the first in Wisconsin to introduce oil and gas burning stoves in the rural area, died at his home in this village Thursday night. He was 80. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John St. James Lutheran Church, Reedsville. The Rev. John Wendland will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Born April 18, 1877, at Wayside, Brown County, son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Beattie Frosch, he began his business enterprise several years before the turn of the century and a year before he married Emma Rader at Sheboygan Falls June 7, 1899. The couple celebrated its 58th wedding anniversary this year. The store he launched at Wayside in 1898 throve and three years later a similar business was established at Grimms. In addition to the hardware store a grain elevator was erected and along with it a garage. When a fire destroyed the hardware store and garage in 1930, only the hardware business was re-established in an adjacent location. At that time the Frosch Brothers partnership was dissolved. Frank Jr. had been in business with him and previous to that their father had been associated in the enterprises. Years before bottle gas stoves were available in rural areas, Mr. Frosch sold coal and wood burning ranges. Not satisfied with this, he introduced oil burning units which could be installed in existing stoves, and a number of years ago took over agency for a gas firm which made it possible for him to sell an appliance he believed would help his rural friends live with more comfort. In addition to serving many years on the Town of Cato School Board he was postmaster for more than 30 years, retiring in 1947 under the compulsory age program. Five years later he retired from active participation in all business and devoted his interests to gardening. He was a charter member of the choir of the church at Reedsville. Surviving are his wife, a son, Maitland, of Minneapolis, two daughters, Mrs. Samuel M. Kuenzi, of Watertown, Wis., and Mrs. Francis Dietl of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Schlicker, of Detroit and Mrs. Alfred Halzer, of Neptune Beach, Fla.; and a grandson.
