AGNES FECTEAU cemetery #32

Agnes Fecteau, age 84, of Two Rivers, died Wednesday afternoon, May 3, 1995, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 1995, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Rev. Paul Schumacher will officiate with entombment at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum. She was born January 20, 1911, in Red Lake Falls, Minn., daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Zins Johanneck. She attended schools in Red Lake Falls, Minn. She married Elmer Fecteau June 8, 1934, in Two Rivers. She was employed with Hamilton Manufacturing Company, Boehringer Oil and Fuel Company and Two Rivers Savings Bank as a teller. She was very active in the Ladies of Holy Redeemer and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. (Survivors omitted for privacy) She was preceded in death by three brothes and one sister. Friends may call at the Deja and Martin Funeral Chapels from 5-8 p.m. Friday. A prayer service will be held at 7:15 Friday. In lieu of flowers memorials of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.

CLARA FECHTER cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 11 Mar. 1909: After many months of terrible illness, death has released Mrs. Clara Fechter from her pain. Mrs. Fechter, widow of the late Geo. W. Fechter, was born 1835 in Germany and came to America as a young lady, spending the greater portion of her life as a resident of our city. She was well-known and highly respected here… She is survived by 4 sons, 3 daughters, and a host of grandchildren. Her funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock

MARIA URSULA FEHRENBACH cemetery #9 From Der Nord Westen, 31 Dec. 1896: Death of Mrs. Maria Ursula Fehrenbach in the home of her son-in-law Edward Kohn in Centerville. She was the widow of Anton Fehrenbach who died 14 yrs. ago. She suffered for several weeks with a heavy cold from which she never recovered and died at 6 a.m. Mon. morning, at age 78. The funeral is taking place this morning at 10 a.m. at the Catholic Church in Centerville. Professor William Dejalle will provide the requiem. The deceased was born in Belikan, Canton Aargau, Switzerland, married in 1850 and came to American with her husband in 1852. They settled in Centerville Village which has been their home for over 40 yrs. She leaves 7 children, in good circumstances, 34 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. 4 of her children live Menomenee, Mich. – Mrs. Leisen, Mrs. Herrmann, Joseph and John Fehrenbach; 2 live in Chilton – Mrs. Gallogly and Mrs. John Berger; and Mrs. Edward Kohn lives here in Centerville.

GUSTAVE FEHRS cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 13 Jan. 1898 Gustave Fehrs closed his eyes for the last time Tues. morning. He was born 18 Aug 1829 in Halberstadt in the Prussian Province of Saxony. He learned the watchmaker profession and after his marriage, emigrated to America in 1854. He spent one year in the eastern states, coming to Manitowoc in 1855 where he has been a resident for the last 44 years. Despite problems - he lost several children and sustained a leg amputation - he cheerfully persevered and was counted among the eminent German citizens of our city. He is survived by his widow and three children: Mr. G.A. Fehrs, who took over hs father's business sometime ago, Mrs. White in Antigo and Mrs. Haukohl in Milwaukee. The funeral will take place tomorrow at 2 p.m. from the funeral home on 8th Street.

ANNA FEILE cemetery #84 Mrs. M. Feile, 75, Dies Wednesday The death of Mrs. Mathias Feile, 75, occurred Wednesday afternoon shortly before six o’clock at her home on Fourth street. Her demise was due to a paralytic stroke. She had enjoyed good health up to the close of the year. Mrs. Feile, nee Anna Amalia Edens, was born in Neunkirchen, Holstein, Germany, on Feb. 18, 1853. At the age of seven years, she came with her parents to America, settling in the village of New Holstein. Here she lived until the time of her marriage on Sept. 2, 1870, to Mathias Feile, when the couple moved to the farm now occupied by Gustave Grabs east of Kiel. This farm they occupied until 1905, when they moved to Kiel. Ten children were born to the couple, three of whom preceded their mother in death. The surviving children are Mrs. Emma Anold, Mrs. Johanna Duecker, and Mrs. Ella Reineck, of this city; Rudolph Feile of Kiel; Robert of Reedsville; William of Philadelphia; and Henry, of Kewaunee. No sisters or brothers survive. Nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren remain. For the past 15 years Mrs. Feile made a home for her granddaughter Elsie, who was made an orphan in her infancy. In 1929 Mr. and Mrs. Feile observed their golden wedding anniversary. The deceased was a charter member of the Kiel Frauenverein. Funeral services, in charge of the Rev. Otto Saewert, will be held Saturday afternoon at half past one at the Feile home, and at two o’clock at the Reformed church, with interment at the Rockville cemetery. - January 1928

HELEN FEILE cemetery #84 Mrs. Robert C. Feile, 85, formerly of Reedsville, died Sunday night at Memorial Hospital in Appleton. She had been living in Appleton with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Beilke. The former Helen Fluhr was born Dec. 2, 1876, in the Town of Schleswig, a daughter of the late Frederick and Katherine Balz Fluhr. She was married Nov. 17, 1898, to Robert C. Feile. The couple spent most of their married life at Reedsville. Mrs. Feile was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and of the Women’s Guild of Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church, Reedsville. Surviving are a son, Hugo, of Manitowoc; a daughter, Mrs. Edwin Beilke, Appleton; four grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. John Henschel and Mrs. William Kriegelstein, both of Kiel, and Mrs. Fred Steffen, Wausau; and two brothers, Edwin of New Holstein and John, Chilton. Her husband and two daughters preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church, Reedsville. The Rev. Lloyd Fried will officiate and burial will be in the Schleswig cemetery.

Rose was born Nov. 8, 1908 at Rosecrans, daughter of the late John and Rose Snorek Sladkey. She was married to Albert Valenta Sr. on June 3, 1930 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville. He preceded her in death Dec. 1, 1966. She then married Frank Feit on Oct. 17, 1970 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville. He preceded her in death Feb. 13, 1982. Rose enjoyed gardening, playing cards, square dancing, cooking and baking. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and the Western Fraternal Life Association. ANNA K.F. FELDSIEN cemetery #89A From Der Nord Westen, 13 Feb. 1879: Death of Mrs. Anna Katharina Friederike Feldsiehn at 3am on 07 Feb. in Branchmills. She was the wife of Mr. Heinrich Feldsiehn who was taken by a stroke on 31 Jan. She was born in Eutin, Oldenburg. She emigrated to Two Rivers in 1847. In the year 1850 her first husband Hans Detleff Dunke and her son Thomas Dunke, both died within one day. She remarried in 1857 to Heinrich Feldsiehn, lived in Two Rivers and Mishicott, and for the last 7 years in Branchmills where her husband had a store. A son from the first marriage, about 20 years of age, lives in Cal. and came home to visit his mother during her illness. The deceased was 62 years of age. Interment was last Monday in Two Rivers.

She had been ill for a long time but has always been up and about. This time she was in Two Rivers when she began to feel worse and asked to be taken home. Her relatives there took her to F. Ruelle who sent for her son who was a few hours away. She died before the son could be summoned. She was 54 and leaves 6 mostly grown children. Her husband had preceded her in death several years ago.

MARIE FENLON cemetery #16 Mrs. John (Marie) Fenlong, 90, formerly of 124 Cherry Ave., Francis Creek, died Thursday evening, June 27, 1991, at North Ridge Care Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, and 10 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Francis Creek. Rev. Donald Schneider will officiate with burial to follow in St. James Cemetery, Cooperstown. The former Marie Hessel was born August 26, 1900, in Francis Creek, daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Blummel Hessel. On October 20, 1926, she was married to John G. Fenlon at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Francis Creek. Together Mr. and Mrs. Fenlon owned and operated Fenlon's Grocery in Cooperstown from 1930, retiring in 1971. The couple moved to Francis Creek in 1977. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and St. James Christian Mothers Society, Cooperstown. Survivors include her husband, John of Francis Creek; a son and daughter-in-law, two daughters and sons-in-law, 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was also survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeff Landt, four sisters and two brothers. NATHAN FENTON cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, April 30, 1874 Death of Nathan Fenton, an old settler, on Sunday night or Monday morning. His body was found in his bed in the Williams House. Death attributed to heavy drink. ************ The Manitowoc County Chronicle Two Rivers Wisconsin June 1, 1875 The grave of Nat (sic) Fenton, in the Manitowoc cemetery, is to be marked by a monument. The funds for that purpose are nearly if not quite all scribed. Every one who knew Nat Fenton liked him, and although like us all he had some defects, yet he is remembered for his good qualities alone, and the liberal contributions for his appointment by those who knew him, show how much he was esteemed by them.

Lester J. Ferry, age 71 of Two Rivers, died unexpectedly Friday evening, October 26, 2001 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a m. on Tuesday Oct 30, 2001 at St. Mark Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Larry Seidl, with burial to follow in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Two Rivers VFW and American Legion Posts. Lester was born July 18, 1930, in Two Rivers, son of the late Earl and Marie Sladky Ferry. He attended school in Two Rivers. On December 22, 1947 he entered the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict, until 1951. He was a member of the 24th Infantry Division, 1st. Battalion. 21st Regiment and Company B. He received numerous service metals(sic), including the Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and a Bronze Star. On September 12, 1953, he was married to Rose Ott, at St. Mark Catholic Church, Two Rivers. The couple celebrated 48 years of marriage this past September. Lester was employed with Kornely Dairy for 21 years, and later with Kelvinator Co. of Manitowoc. He also worked part-time at E. V. M. after his retirement. Lester was a member of the Two Rivers VFW Post #1248; he enjoyed time spent with family, friends, and especially his grandkids. He will be greatly missed by his family. Rose M. Ferry, age 72, of Two Rivers, died early Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 10 am. on Friday, April 12, 2002 at St. Mark Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Larry Seidl, with burial to follow in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers. Rosie was born June 11, 1929 in Two Rivers, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Ruder Ott. She attended St. Mark Parochial School and Two Rivers Washington High School, graduating with the class of 1947. On Sept. 12, 1953 she married Lester J. Ferry at St. Mark Catholic Church. He preceded her in death Oct. 26, 2001, Rose was employed at the Metal Ware Corp. for several years and in 1959 began working at Paragon Electric Co., where she worked for 39 years, retiring in 1998. After her retirement she worked part-time at Evans of Two Rivers, until the present time. She was a lifelong member of St. Mark Parish, where she was an active member of the Ladies of St. Mark. She enjoyed time spent with her children and grandchildren. The couple settled in Manitowoc after their marriage. Mr. Fessler preceded her in death on April 4, 1983. Survivors include one and and daughter in law, a daughter, five grandchildren, one great grandson, four sisters, and other relatives and friends. The Pfeffer Funeral Home,Manitowoc assisted the family with funeral arrangements.

MANITOWOC EVENING TIMES September 14,1942 FESSLER (edited for possible living persons) Carl Fessler Sr. , 81, pioneer resident of the town of Eaton, died Monday at the Holy Family hospital following a short illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30am from the St. Gregory's Catholic Church at St. Nazianz. Interment will be in the village cemetery. Mr. Fessler was born in Germany in 1860 and when a boy, accompanied his parents to this country. The family settled at St Nazianz and later moved to the homestead farm two miles south of the village. As a young man, he worked six years at the Holy Family convent at Silver Lake. In 1891, he married Margaret Meyer and they moved to the farm home at Eaton. Mrs. Meyer died two years ago. Survivors are five sons, two daughters, and 19 grandchildren. The body may be viewed at the Fessler home.

The former Mary Himmelsbach, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Himmelsbach of St. Nazianz, was born February 20, 1882, in the town of Schleswig. She was married to Carl Fessler in St. Nazianz in 1904. The couple lived in St. Nazianz for several years after their marriage and then moved to a farm two miles west of the village. In 1942 the couple retired from the farm and moved back to St. Nazianz. Mrs. Fessler was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and the Christian Mothers' society of the St. Gregory church. She and her husband celebrated their golden wedding anniversary June 6, 1954. She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. William Bushman, Osman; Mrs. Ira Holmer, Minneapolis; Mrs. Clarence Brill, New Holstein. Also eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Frank E. Fetzer, age 59, of Manitowoc, died early Sunday morning, November 24, 1996, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 1996, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and 11 am. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Gerald Foley with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. He was born June 4, 1937, in the town of Kossuth, Manitowoc County, son of the late Frank J. and Nora Holsen Fetzer. He attended St. Anne’s School in Francis Creek and was a graduate of Mishicot High School in 1954, being class president. On July 6, 1963, he married the former Janet A. Westphal at St. Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Clement P. Kern presided at the marriage of the couple. The couple resided in the city of Manitowoc since their marriage. Frank started his employment with the Hamachek Company as an automobile insurance salesman and soon began his career in auto sales working in various positions as used car manager, sales manager and sales at Hamachek, Lauson Chevrolet and currently Maritime Ford. Frank enjoyed camping with his family and friends. He had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed singing country music and playing his guitar, especially around the campfire. He was an excellent fisherman who worked hard and owned a gasoline powered boat and many nets. His business was worth $1,400. He was unmarried but had recently become engaged to a fine girl. He came from Clarks Mills and his body was brought to Valders and buried there. ************** VICTIM OF SHOOTING DIES Miss Anna Kasten, Girl Shot by Ole Finkleman(Finkelson), Manitowoc Man Dies Saturday IN THE MERRILL HOSPITAL Finkleman(Finkelson), After Girl Refused Him, Shot Her and Her Mother Then Turned Revolver on Himself Miss Anna Kasten of Merrill; who was shot by her lover, Ole Finkelson, a Manitowoc man, at her father's farm house a week ago, died Saturday at the Smith Tarr hospital at Merrill, after lingering between life and death for several days. The remains of Finkelson who shot himself were brought to Manitowoc last Thursday by the deceased's brother, Edward Finkelson, and buried at Valders. Mr. Finkelson went to the girl's house and asked her to marry him. She refused and he shot her three times in the breast with a revolver. When the girl's mother came into the room he shot twice at her, one shot taking effect in her arm. He then walked out into the yard, reloaded his revolver and blew out his own brains. The tragedy happened at the Kasten home five miles outside of Merrill. Finkelson was a farmer residing on a farm near there. Manitowoc Citizen, July 22 1909, page two

He was born February 21, 1908, in the town of Manitowoc Rapids, son of the late John and Matilda Neuser Fischer. On June 23, 1931, he married the former Margaret Anna Miller at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. Aaron was employed with the Manitowoc Seed Company for 20 years and then as custodian for the St. Boniface Catholic Church and School of Manitowoc for 22 years. Aaron was also employed with the Pfeffer Funeral Home for 13 years. He was a past member of the St. Boniface Athletic Club, Catholic Knights, and the Manitowoc Senior Citizens. Aaron was one of the original founders and organizers of the Lakeport Credit Union formerly known as the St. Boniface Credit Union. He served on its Board of Directors for 19 years. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law; one son and daughter-in-law; one brother and sister-in-law; one sister, seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Elfrieda and Gerhardt Sickinger; one brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Hildegarde; and a brother-in-law Wilbur Gresl. The family will greet relatives and friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2000, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc.

He was born in Bavaria in 1832 and has been a resident of Town Manitowoc Rapids since 1854. He is survived by his widow and 10 children. The burial had been set for Fri. morning but on that very day his 18-yr. old daughter Franziska followed her father in death. The young lady was a victim of consumption. CLARENCE FISCHER cemetery #79 From Der Nord Westen, 01 Sep. 1904: An extremely unfortunate accident occurred last Thurs. in Town Kossuth. Louis Fischer operates a cheese factory there. The family lives above the factory. On that day, Mrs. Fischer left her 18-mo. old child alone for a moment to help her husband with his work. She heard a terrible cry of fear from the child and returned to the living quarters to find her baby engulfed in flames. It appears that the child had found a pair of her father’s old pants in which he had left matches in the pocket. The child found them, lit them and the clothing was set on fire. The mother put out the flames while the father drove his buggy the 8 miles to Manitowoc seeking help. Before the doctor could reach the place, death had claimed the little child. (Note: The obit indicates it's a girl, but Clarence died on August 25 and that's the "last Thurs" in the obit.)

EDWARD F. FISCHER cemetery #82 Edward Frederick Fischer, aged 61, former Manitowoc county board member, died at his home here at 1:45 o'clock Friday morning after an illness of four weeks. He had been in failing health for about six months. Mr. Fischer was born in the town of Schlweswig, Manitowoc county, May 18, 1879, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Fischer. He attended the district school and lived on this parents farm from 1899 to 1903. He worked as a mason until 1909. On October 26, 1909, he married Olga Luedke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Luedke, and with his father-in-law purchased the Elm Green farm, town Schleswig, where he lived until 1919, moving at that time to this city. He was member of the Manitwoc county board of supervisors from 1923 to 1936. Survivors are his widow, his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Luedke of here; four sisters, Mrs. Fred Beckmann of here, Mrs. Theodore Hake of Colby, Mrs. Hugo Knorr of Madison and Miss Clara Fischer, living in California, and four brothers, Charles of Newton, Oscar, George and Walter, all in California. His parents and two brothers, Louis and Herman, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held this Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home and at 2 o'clock at St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed church, with the Rev. E. L. Worthman officiating. Burial was made in the Kiel cemetery. (no newspaper named, 1941)

FRANK E. FISCHER cemetery #82 F. E. Fischer Buried Today Relatives and friends here received the news the beginning of this week of the death of Frank E. Fischer of West Allis. Mr. Fischer passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ida Temke. Mr. Fischer was born April 2, 1855. For many years the deceased owned a harness business in the building which is now Christel's Department Store. He left this city about the year 1894, and went direct to Milwaukee. His wife, the former Miss Emma Langjahr passed away in 1893; also two children preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Ida Temke of West Allis, and son, Walter Fischer of Chicago. JOHANN FISCHER cemetery #17 (From the Obituary Book of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Maribel: 3 January 1891, Saturday...edited) Johann Fischer became ill with "grippe" at Christmas time, and died on New Year's Eve. He was born May 19, 1819, in Gross Fredenbeck, Hannover, and baptized there, and confirmed in the Lutheran church at Wulsum in 1834. He emigrated to America in 1858. He was 71 years, 7 months, 12 days.

Somehow the cow lurched toward her and knocked her down. The cow then became terrified and continued to maul her, wounding her severely in the upper body and the face so that she soon died. She was 66. Her husband, Carl Fischer, hung himself 25 yrs. ago. Her funeral was held Mon., 06 Oct.

Fischer Is Buried Here Former Resident of Vicinity Is Stricken At Home In California Mrs. Herman Fischer, aged 85, passed away Wednesday, July 13, at Arcadia, California where she was making her home with her four youngest children, Oscar, George, Walter and Clara. She had been enjoying good health until the day before her death when she suffered a heart attack. The deceased, nee Wilhelmina Ritter, was born in Kirchheim, Germany on October 28, 1847; At the age of three years she came to this country with her parents who settled first in Buffalo, N. Y. December 10, 1886, she was married to Herman Fischer of the town of Mosel, the couple locating in the town of Centerville, where for three yours Mr. Fischer was employed as foreman by his brother, who bought cordwood. In 1869 they purchased a farm in the town of Schleswig. Her husband preceded her in death February 12, 1906. In 1913 she and her youngest children moved to Thorp, and for the past four years they made their home in Arcadia, Calif., where the children are operating a small farm. The following ten children survive: Mrs. Fred, (Pauline) Beckmann, Kiel; Mrs. Theodore (Annie) Hake, Colby; Mrs. Hugo (Rose) Knorr, Madison; Charles of Meeme; Louis of Plymouth; Edward of Kiel; Oscar, George, Walter and Clara in California. There are also 11 grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. The body of the deceased was brought to Kiel for burial, services being held Monday from the Meiselwitz undertaking parlors. Interment was in the Ucker Road cemetery, the Rev. E. L. Worthman conducting the last rites. The Senior Choir of the St. Peter Reformed church sang two songs, "Lass mich geh'n," and "Ich bin ein Gast auf Erden." Pallbearers were William Schultz, Charles Perschke, Herman Ninmer, Otto Kletzien, Gustave Sy, and Edwin Thieleke. July 21, 1932

DANIEL M. FITZGERALD Cemetery #44 Two Rivers Reporter, Monday, January 9, 1939 NEIGHBOR CITY MERCHANT DEAD Daniel Fitzgerald, 64, Dies on Sunday at Milwaukee Daniel M. Fitzgerald, 64, member of the Fitzgerald Bruder firm, engaged in the confectionery and liquor business in Manitowoc for years, died Sunday morning at the Milwaukee hospital, Milwaukee. He submitted to an operation a week ago Friday. Pneumonia, which developed, caused his death. Although not enjoying good health for several months, Mr. Fitzgerald continued active in the business until shortly before he went to the hospital. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Pfeffer funeral home. The Rev. W.C. Kurtz will officiate. Mr. Fitzgerald, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Fitzgerald was born in Kossuth, June 26, 1875. By an unusual coincidence John Bruder, his business partner, was born on that same date in the same township. They were associated as employes and partners for a 40 year span. In 1906 he married Miss Helen Muehlenbruch of Manitowoc city. She survives with a daughter, Doris, Milwaukee; two sons, Eugene, Sheboygan, William, Manitowoc; and a grandchild.
