CORA (SIBENHORN) DUFANO cemetery #89A Cora (Sibenhorn) Dufano, age 95, a resident of the Hamilton Memorial Home, Two Rivers, passed away early Tuesday evening, May 18, 1999, at the Hamilton Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 21, 1999, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Rev. Edward Stelter will officiate at the service with burial to follow at Pioneer Rest Cemetery, Two Rivers. Cora was born January 25, 1904, in Two Rivers, she was the last surviving child of Carl and Hedwig (Backus) Sibenhorn. She was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, where she attended St. John’s School and was confirmed. Before her marriage to Louis R. Dufano on September 23, 1922, she worked as an industrial nurse at the former Aluminum Goods Manufacturing Company. All of her life, she loved flowers and for many years she used these talents to beautify the altar Of St. John’s under the guidance and blessing of her good friend, Pastor Walter Haase. After her husband’s retirement, she spent many happy hours as a flower designer at Hansen the Florist. She and her husband enjoyed traveling. Their most cherished memories came after Louis was appointed as a consultant with the International Executive Service Corps. and they received two long term assignments to San Salvador and Medellin. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, two granddaughters and a grandson-in-law. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many friends especially from the Hamilton Home. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and seven sisters. Friends may call at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers, after 11 a.m. Friday until 12:30 p.m. There will be no visitation at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church. DORIS DUFANO cemetery #89D Mrs. Doris Dufano, 68, of 2509-13th St., Two Rivers, died Friday evening at St. Mary Hospital, Green Bay. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Deja and Martin Funeral Chapel, Two Rivers, and at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, Two Rivers. The Rev. John Neuser will officiate and burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. Mrs. Dufano, nee Doris Richards, was born July 2, 1908, at Spalding, Mich., daughter of the late Philip and Delenda Forgette Richards. She was married to William Dufano July 2, 1929, at Iron River, Michigan. Her husband preceded her in death April 19, 1966. Mrs. Dufano did catering prior to her retirement. She was past department president of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, past president of the Eleven Gold Star, Post 1248, V.F.W. Auxiliary of Two Rivers, past president of American Legion, Robert E. Burns Post 165, of Two Rivers, club administrator of the Homemakers of Two Rivers, and a member of the Ladies of St. Mark. Survivors include three sons, two daughters, two brothers, Milton and Clarence of Milwaukee; two sisters, Mrs. John Schwartz of Milwaukee and Mrs. Lester Arnell of Iron River, Mich., and 17 grandchildren. WILLIAM C. DUFANO cemetery #89D William C. (Bill) Dufano, 69, of 2509-13th St., Two Rivers, orchestra leader and former member of the Marine and Hamilton bands, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where he had been a patient a day after being stricken while at work. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels and at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. George Beth officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, where graveside military rites will be conducted by the Drews-Bleser Post No. 88, American Legion, Manitowoc. Mr. Dufano, a World War I veteran, was born Oct. 27, 1896, at Oconto, son of the late Louis J. and Catherine Prucha Dufano. He attended Oconto public schools and shortly before World War I the family came to Two Rivers. He entered the Army in World War I and after his discharge he became an orchestra leader in the Iron River, Mich., area, where he married the former Doris Richards July 2, 1929. The same year they moved to Two Rivers where they resided since. He conducted his own orchestra more than 30 years in this area and was a drummer and xylophonist with both the Marine Band at Manitowoc and the former Hamilton Band at Two Rivers. During World War II he was employed at Manitowoc Ship Building Inc., and from 1944 until his retirement in 1961 he was employed at Gaterman Mfg. Co., Manitowoc. He had been a part-time employe at Consumers Steel Co., Manitowoc, where he took ill Monday. A member of the Robert E. Burns Post, the World War I Veterans, Barracks No. 2565, and St. Mark Holy Name Society, he was also affiliated with Owls of Two Rivers, Sea Gulls of Manitowoc, Squeeker Sip Club of Tisch Mills and was also an honorary member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local No. 95, AFL-CIO. Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, three sons, three sisters, three brothers, and 11 grandchildren. Anthony V. Dufek, age 83, of Manitowoc, died Tuesday evening, April 13, 2004, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Concelebrating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Ronald Reimer and the Rev. Tom Wojciechowski O.F.M. with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Graveside military rites will be accorded by VFW Otto Oas Post #659. He was born April 5, 1921, in Manitowoc, son of the late Anton and Lillian Krcma Dufek. Tony was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1939. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from July 22, 1942 to March 15, 1946. He served as a 2nd lieutenant overseas in Europe, England, France, Belgium and Germany, receiving four bronze battle stars. On Dec. 27, 1943, he married the former Elaine E. Klackner at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1993. Tony was employed at Chicago & Northwestern Railroad from 1946 to 1973. He then became mayor for the city of Manitowoc from 1973 to 1989. He was a member of the Manitowoc School Board of Education from 1986 to 2001 and was past chairman and member of the Manitowoc County Board of Supervisors from 1966 to 1973 and from 1990 to 2004, serving as chairman from 1970 to 1973. Tony was author of the weekly Lakeshore Update, which was published in The Lakeshore Chronicle beginning in 1989. He also produced a radio show called Lakeshore Comments, which aired on WCUB for 30 years. He was also a member of the Manitowoc 4th degree Knights of Columbus, Elks BPOE #687, Eagles Aerie #706, VFW Otto Oas Post #659, American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88 and the AMVETS Post #99. Survivors include his wife: Elaine Dufek, Manitowoc; three sons and two daughters-in-law: two grandchildren: and a brother and sister-in-law. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by two infant children: Mary Margaret and Daniel Anthony; and three sisters and a brother-in-law: Mary Ann and Jack Irving, Mildred Dufek and Margaret Dufek. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. this Friday (TONIGHT), where a prayer service will conclude the visitation at 7:30 p.m. led by Deacon Alan Boeldt. EDWARD A. DUFEK cemetery #44 Edward A. Dufek, 45, former Manitowoc food market operator died suddenly in Chicago Wednesday afternoon. He was stricken with a lung congestion earlier in the day and failed to rally. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Pfeffer funeral home and at 9 o'clock at the Sacred Heart church, Manitowoc. The Rev. L.M. Schorn will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. He was born in Brown county in 1906, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Dufek, and came to Manitowoc in 1919. He attended the Sacred Heart school and was graduated from Lincoln high school, Manitowoc, in 1926. He operated a grocery store at Wisconsin avenue and North 14th street for two years and moved to Chicago later to take an accountant's position. He was connected with the Krema Trucking company. In 1929 he married Miss Anna Meyer of Manitowoc. She survives with a son, (private), a senior at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a fullback on the Michigan varsity football team. Also surviving are six brothers, Wencel, Anton and Matthew of Manitowoc, John of Chicago, Andrew of Cary, Ill., and Frank of Rosell, Ill; two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Boulanger of Green Bay and Mrs. Frances Kettner of Manitowoc. ELAINE DUFEK cemetery #43 Elaine E. Dufek, age 85, formerly of 546 S. 31st St., Manitowoc, died on Thursday morning, April 17, 2008, at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Sept. 10, 1922, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Arthur and Isabel (Wiesner) Klackner. Elaine was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, class of 1940. On Dec. 27, 1943, she married Anthony V. Dufek at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The couple celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in 2003. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2004. Elaine was a former member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the Christian Women. She is presently a member of the Catholic Women's Club, Daughters of Isabella and St. Francis of Assisi. She was preceded in death by two infant children: Mary Margaret and Daniel Anthony; three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Mary Ann and Jack Irving; Mildred Dufek; and Margaret Dufek; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Anton and Lillian Dufek. The former Harriet Schneider was born May 28, 1897, at Kewaunee, daughter of the late Charles and Frances Novotny Schneider. She was married to Andrew Dufek at Chicago Oct. 10, 1925, and the couple resided there until 1939, moving to Carey. She had been past president of Carey American Legion Auxiliary, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary of Crystal Lake, Ill., member of First Methodist Church of Carey since 1940 and past president of the Ladies Aid of the church. Surviving are her husband, a brother, Charles Schneider, of Kewaunee, a sister, Mrs. Anna Paul, of Vrensenville, Ill., and six grandchildren. FRANK DUFFY cemetery #44 Frank W. Duffy, 41, of Manitowoc route 5, and employe of the Manitowoc Portland Cement Co., died Monday evening at the Holy Family hospital. THOMAS WILLIAM DUFFY cemetery #44 Funeral services for Cpl. Thomas Duffy, 20, (above) son of Mrs. Herbert Traurig of route 5, Manitowoc, Killed in action in Korea, Feb. 13, will be held Monday morning at Sacred Heart church, Manitowoc. The Rev. E.A. Radey will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. Corporal Duffy was a medical corpsman in the armored patrol of the Seventh infantry division. Born in Manitowoc in 1930, he was graduated from Lincoln high school in 1948. He enlisted in September of that year, took basic training at Fort Knox, Ky., and joined the occupation forces in Japan in January, 1949. He attended medical school in Japan for several months. Assigned to the Korean fighting last September he was among the front line troops in last November's north Korean invasion. He was past president and treasurer of the CYO of the Holy Innocents church. Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Traurig, two brothers (private); sister, (private) and half sister, (private). ANNA DUGAN cemetery #55 Mrs. Michael Dugan, 88, of Reedsville, died Friday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 10:15 a.m. Monday at Reedsville Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Reedsville. The Rev. Adolph Dolezel will officiate and burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Maple Grove. Mrs. Dugan, nee Anna Haas, was born Sept. 29, 1880, in the Town of Franklin, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Yanda Haas. She was married to Michael Dugan March 4, 1904, at Milwaukee. The couple farmed in the Maple Grove township until 1944 and then moved to Reedsville. She was a member of St. Anne-CMA Society and Our Ladies of Rosary Makers, having made more than 14,000 rosaries for the missions. Her husband died in 1954. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Norbert (Gertrude) Fenlon and Mrs. Norman (Mary) Resch, of Rt. 1, Reedsville; a brother, John, of Manitowoc; a sister, Mrs. Rose Rezy, of Toledo, Ohio; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Alice was born March 29, 1910 in Kasel, Wis., the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Lipski) Gretz. She was united in marriage to Robert Duhnke in 1963. He preceded her in death. HENRY A. DUMDEY cemetery #44 Henry A. Dumdey Retired Lumber Merchant, Dies Henry A. Dumdey, 69, retired president of the Manitowoc Lumber Company, and engaged in the lumber business in Wisconsin for 55 years, died suddenly early today of a heart attack in an Oconto hospital. Mr. Dumdey, 839 Lincoln boulevard, who retired from active business in January, had gone to the Dumdey cottage near Oconto on the Bay shore to spend a couple of weeks. While there (photo) he took his meals at his next door neighbor's home, City Clerk Edward Krueger of Oconto. When he did not come to dinner Wednesday the Kruegers visited the cottage and found Mr. Dumdey ill. They took him to the Oconto hospital and notified Mrs. Dumdey in this city. Mr. Dumdey died a few hours after his wife reached the hospital. Born at Princeton Mr. Dumdey was born at Princeton, Wis., in 1872 and when a boy of 14 years entered the employ of F.J. Yahr, who operated a retail lumber yard at the place. He stayed with this firm for many years and in 1907 located at Denmark, Brown county, to take charge of a lumber yard for Yahr interests there. He also had charge of yards for this firm at Bellevue, Maribel and Francis Creek. In 1916 he moved to this city, and January 1, 1918, in partnership with Otto Engel and Frank Gerl, took over the Schoch yards on Franklin street. The Manitowoc Lumber company was organized and Mr. Dumdey was elected president. He headed this firm until January of this year when he disposed of his interests and retired from the lumber business. He was a member of the Masonic order and also affiliated with the Manitowoc lodge of Elks, Manitowoc aerie of Eagles and the United Commercial Travelers. Mr. Dumday for years was an active member in the Wisconsin Retail Lumber Dealers Association. Married in 1900 In 1900 he married Miss Emma Worm of Princeton. She survives with a son, Louis, of Lisbon, N.H.; two daughters, Irene Dumdey of Chicago, Mrs. Howard Aker of Pensacola, Fla.; sister, Mrs. G.A. Weinkauf of Green Lake, Wis. DUMKE (d. 1917) cemetery #44 XMAS GREETING FROM FATHER CAME WITH NEWS OF DEATH Holiday Message Written by John Dumke, 3 Days Before Death, to All of Children, Was Ill One Day Following receipt of Christmas greetings which he had mailed three days previously, children of John F. Dumke, former local business man, received news of his death a few hours later. Mr. Dumke, on Dec. 19 had written greetings to all of his children and their receipt preceded messages announcing his death but a short time. Funeral services for Mr. Dumke were held at St. James church here this afternoon, Rev. Keicher officiating. The body arrived from Montrose, Col., where his death occurred, last evening. Interment was at Evergreen cemetery and a large concourse of friends attended the last services. Mr. Dumke was born Feb. 28, 1848 in Brandenburg, Prussia. With his parents he came to America as a child of two years, locating on a farm ten miles northwest of the city. Manitowoc attracted him and at the age of 12 he came to this city to learn the shoemaker’s trade and for forty years in a store on York street and later on Eighth street, he was engaged in this business. Mr. Dumke was married in ? to Ida Ricker?, daughter of the late Judge? Richer/Ricker? of this city. The couple spent forty years of happy companionship when Death claimed Mrs. Dumke, following whose death Mr. Dumke went to California and later spent some time at Ogden, Utah, with his sons and daughters there. A family reunion was held there in September. Later Mr. Dumke took up his home with his daughter, Dr. Caroline Monell, at Montrose, Col., where his death occurred. He was ill but one day. Members of German singing societies of the city with which he was affiliated during his years here, attended the funeral today. Mr. Dumke was a member of the militia in his youth, was an enthusiastic Turner, being recognized as the best in this section. He was a lover of nature and of life and was always an optimist. HOWARD W. DUMMER MANITOWOC BOY WINS HIGHEST CADET HONORS Howard Dummer, a Manitowoc boy, carried away the highest honor which can be awarded to a freshman cadet at the University of Wisconsin when he won first place in the inspection contest held to determine the best cadet in the 2,500 taking military training. Dummer, who is a sergeant, the highest office a freshman can hold, was picked as the best man by three majors from the United States regular army in the competition which was held Friday afternoon. The honor is the highest that can be awarded to a freshman by the Department of Military training and Tacitcs, and Dummer will be publicly decorated with a gold medal at the Memorial day services. President Birge of the university, will personally pin the medal on Sergt. Dummer and the presentation will be made in the presence of the university and cadet regiment. Dummer is a member of the President's guard, the honorary military organization of the U. He is also rated as the best plunger on the Freshman swimming squad. Dunning, 72, of 2706 Clark St., Manitowoc, veteran grocery store operator who died Monday morning, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. James Episcopal Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. William R. PAUL DURUZ cemetery #32 Col. Paul B. Duruz, retired U.S. Army, age 87, of 1830 S. 18th St., No. 30, Manitowoc, died on Thursday morning, Dec. 20, 2007, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Paul was born on Nov. 24, 1920, in Sacramento, Calif., son of the late Bernard H. and Marie C. (Gastieger) Rogers. He attended Corvallis High School in Corvallis, Ore., and graduated with the class of 1938. Paul then attended Oregon State College and was commissioned as 2nd Lt. Infantry from ROTC at Oregon State College. He served in the 44th Infantry Division during WWII. On Jan. 23, 1946, he married the former Alice Zagrodnik in Manitowoc. In 1947, Paul graduated from Oregon State College with a Bachelor of Science degree. He then attended and graduated from Teachers College in 1957 and later graduated from Columbia University with a Master of Arts degree. In 1949, Paul was integrated into regular Army Military Police and served as provost marshal, U.S.A., in the Southern European Task Force, Italy, and II Field Force, Vietnam. Paul was assistant commandant for the U.S.A. Military Police School and was on the Professional Staff of the President's Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Justice. Paul retired from the U.S. Army in 1970 as a colonel. Following his military career, Paul was employed as a management consultant for Cresop, McCormick and Paget from 1970 to 1972. He then was appointed administrator of staff and faculty for Montgomery College, Rockville, Md., until his retirement in 1985. Some of the cities that Paul and Alice have called home during his career include: Davis, Calif.; Corvallis, Ore.; Brake and Esslingen, Germany; Albuquerque, N.M.; DeLand, Fla.; Augusta, Ga.; Munich, Germany; Verona, Italy; Washington, D.C.; and Chevy Chase, Md. Paul and his wife Alice then moved to Manitowoc following his retirement, where he served on the Citizens Advisory Committee, and one year as chairman for the senior advisory council, Seniors and Law Enforcement Together. He is a member of the Retired Officers Association; the International Association of Chiefs of Police; the American Legion; Kiwanis in DeLand, Fla., and Rockville, Md.; and as past president of the Golden K of Manitowoc. Paul was also a member of the Fraternal Delta Tau Delta College social fraternity. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) Dusold, 67, of 413 Cleveland Ave., Manitowoc, died Wednesday afternoon at Veterans Administration Hospital, Milwaukee, after a six months illness preceded by a heart attack. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, the Rev. Paul Blaufuss officiating. Two Rivers Post 1248 member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will perform graveside military rites at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, Mr. Dusold was born Feb. 15, 1893, at Manitowoc, son of the late Alex and Amelia Krause Dusold. He was educated at Manitowoc public schools and then operated his own garage for a number of years. Since 1942, he was a machinist at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc. Mr. Dusold was a veteran of World War I, serving as a wagoner in the 14th Engineer detachment. He entered the service Nov. 17, 1917, and was discharged March 7, 1919. GEORGE DUSOLD cemetery #43 From Der Nord Westen, 14 Apr. 1904: George Dusold died Mon. noon. The death of the old gentleman occurred quite suddenly as he had been seen just a few days ago meandering about the streets of our city, but he fell ill with bronchitis on Fri. which quickly turned into pneumonia. He died on Mon. after lying unconscious with a fever for many hours. George Dusold was born 20 Jan. 1817 in Roschlaub, Bavaria. He came to America in 1845 and settled in Manitowoc Rapids, at that time our county seat. In 1846 he married Anna Wolf in Milwaukee and soon moved to Manitowoc where he has lived ever since. He established a guest house here on the south side when it was just a wilderness and contained only a half dozen residences. He also worked as a shoemaker which he had learned in Germany. He was naturalized in 1850 following his Declaration of Intent to become a citizen in 1846. His naturalization document is dated 07 Oct. 1850 and is signed by P.P. Smith, the then Court Clerk. His life partner died in 1897. There were 12 children and Mr. Dusold is survived by 9 of them, namely, Mrs. M. Pankratz here, Mrs. W. Schultz in Ozaukee County, and Mrs. P. Riederer, August, Alex, George, Lhelm, Edward and Oliver. The funeral will be held this morning from St. Boniface Church.


JOSEPH DUSOLD cemetery #43 SOMETIMES PEACE IS MORE DANGEROUS THAN WAR Jos. Dusold Escapes “Greasers” Only to be Victim At Home To have escaped the greasers on the border only to come home and shoot himself, was the experience of Private Joseph Dusold of Co. H., who yesterday was cleaning a pistol that he didn’t know was loaded and the weapon was discharged, the bullet passing through the fleshy part of his neck/back (can’t read which). WALTER DUSOLD cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 25 Aug. 1887: Death of Walter R. Dusold, three month old son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Dusold. Mr. Dusold was returning from an encampment at Beaver Dam where he served as a Lt. in Co. A, 2nd Regt., when the child fell suddenly ill and died on Sun. at noon.


HERBERT DUVALL cemetery #89D Herbert J. Duvall, 64, of 1034 S. 23rd St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at Deja and Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers, and at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc, the Rev. Thaddeus Kozarek officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. Mr. Duvall was born Dec. 2, 1906, at Daggett, Mich., son of the late Herbert and Massey Ginas Duvall. When he was a child the family brought him to Two Rivers where he attended St. Luke Parochial School. He married Kathryn LaChappelle at Dubuque, Iowa, Dec. 2, 1939. She preceded him in death Jan. 22, 1969. For a number of years he operated the former Diamond Bar at Two Rivers, and had been employed for several years later until the time of his death at Manitowoc Engineering Co. MARCELLA DUVALL cemetery #89D TWO DIE WITHIN HOUR OF EACH OTHER AT MUNICIPAL HOSPITAL AGED MAN DIES WHILE HE WAITS FOR MESSAGE Alfred Duvalle, 80, Heart Attack Victim, While He Comes to Visit Mrs. H. Duvalle, Who Also Passes A moment after entering the Municipal hospital here yesterday afternoon to visit his daughter-in-law, Alfred Duvalle, 80, of 1918 Rogers street, collapsed suddenly and died. An hour later his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Herbert Duvalle, 46, of 2022 Lincoln street, whom he had come to see, joined him in death. Death of Mr. Duvalle was due to a heart stroke. He came here in 1928 from Daggett, Mich. His demise took place shortly before 3:30. Mrs. Herbert Duvalle, who had undergone an operation passed away at 4:30 o'clock, not knowing that her father- in-law had passed on. Bury Both Same Day Funeral services for both will be held Tuesday morning. The time of services for Mr. Duvalle will be 7:30 o'clock, with burial at Daggett, Mich. Mrs. Duvalle will be buried at nine o'clock from the St. Luke's church with six of her seven sons acting as pallbearers. Mrs. Duvalle, nee Marcelle Geno, was born in Daggett, Mich., November 11, 1886. Twenty-eight years ago she was married to Herbert Duvalle, who survives her, at Stephenson, Mich. After their marriage the couple took up their home in Dagget for five years and then moved to Niagara where they lived 10 years, coming to this city in 1918. Besides her husband Mrs. Duvalle is survived by three daughters, Mrs. John Kramer, Manitowoc, Arline and Lucille at home, and seven sons, Clifford, this city, and Herbert, Walter, Alfred, Lawrence, Francis and Clarence, all at home. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Dennis, Mrs. Mathilda Pellerand, both of this city and a brother, Ole Geno, Marinette. Born in Canada Mr. Duvalle was born in Canada, January 16, 1851, and at the age of 20 years came to this country and settled in Daggett, Mich., where he lived most of his life. Fifty-eight years ago he was married to Odel Carriveau, of Oconto, at that city, with the couple making their home on a farm in Daggett. Mrs. Duvalle preceded him in death six years ago. During the World War Mr. Duvalle made his home with relatives at Seattle and had lived here with his son, Elmer, for the last four years. Mr. Duvalle is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Arthur Lafrenere, Mrs. Samuel Collard, both of Seattle, Washington; Mrs. George Bunker, Daggett, and Mrs. John Riggo, Seattle, and four sons, Herbert, this city; Abraham, Seattle, Daniel, Goodman; and Elmer, this city. CARL DUVENECK cemetery #70 PIONEER OF NEWTON DEAT AT AGE OF 95 Carl Duvenik, (sic) Sr., pioneer settler of Newton and one of the oldest residents of Manitowoc county, died at the home of his son yesterday at the advanced age of 95 years. Decedent was born in Germany May 14, 1821, and came to America and direct to this county in 1872. A peculiar coincident of Mr. Duevenik's death is that it occurred eight years to the day from the date of the death of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Naumann who passed away Feb. 15, 1908. Five sons survive, Fred at Oconto, Carl and Alex, Newton, August, Two Rivers, and Ernst of Two Creeks. HELEN DUVENECK cemetery #43 Helen M. Duveneck, age 88, formerly of 3819 Clover Rd., Manitowoc, died Wednesday evening, September 30, 1998, at St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m., Saturday, October 3, 1998, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church, Northeim. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. David Beaudry, with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. She was born July 20, 1910, in Newton, daughter of the late John and Antonia Murzyn Kadow. On July 20, 1926, she married Ulrich Duveneck at St. Casimir Catholic Church, Northeim. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 20, 1976. He preceded her in death June 28, 1987. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, two daughters and sons-in-law, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, four great- great-grandchildren, and two sisters. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters and a great granddaughter, Tracie Ann Nack. Robert C. Duveneck, age 65, died early Friday morning, October 22, 1999, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, October 25, 1999, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, and 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Camillus Janas O.F.M., with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. He was born September 21, 1934, in Manitowoc, son of the late Ulrich and Helen Kadow Duveneck. Bob attended Manitowoc Lincoln High School and then entered the United States Army where he received his G.E.D. On May 20, 1982, he married the former Luanne Rugowski in Manitowoc. Bob was employed as a police officer with the city of Manitowoc for 27 years, retiring with the rank of Sergeant in 1993. He was a life member of the Manitowoc Gun Club and a past member of the Ducks Unlimited. Survivors include his wife, four daughters and sons-in-law, one son and his special friend, six granchildren, one brother and sister-in-law, two sisters and brothers-in-law. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Duzeski was born May 23, 1903, at Manitowoc, son of Theodore and the late Josephine Chapleski Duzeski. He attended St. Mary Parochial School and at one time was a printer at the Manitowoc Times. He was employed at Aluminum Goods Manufacturing Co. for a number of years and, since 1944, had been a janitor at Washington Junior High School, Manitowoc. He married Olyphia Dickert Aug. 17, 1927, at Manitowoc. He was a member of St. Mary Parish and also a membre of Aerie 706 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Manitowoc. A sister preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, his father, at Manitowoc; three brothers, Stanley, Edward and James of Manitowoc, and two sisters, Mrs. Carl Jorgensen and Mrs. Clem Weier of Manitowoc. CAROLINE DVORACHEK cemetery #32 Caroline M. Dvorachek, age 89, of North Ridge Care Center, Manitowoc, formerly of Reedsville, died on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at Aurora BayCare in Green Bay. She was born on Dec. 3, 1918, in the town of Maple Grove, daughter of the late Joseph and Clara (Ecker) Schuh. On Sept. 16, 1941, she married Adolph Dvorachek in Reedsville. Caroline was a life-long member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Reedsville, where she played the organ, and served as librarian for St. Mary School. She was a member of Holy Family Parish in Brillion, the St. Anne's Society, and the Reedsville American Legion Auxiliary. She also loved quilting and sewing. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) ARTHUR DVORAK cemetery #7 Arthur Dvorak, 54, of Cato, died Tuesday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, after an apparent heart attack. Radey will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Dvorak was born Oct. 26, 1914, in the Town of Franklin, son of the late John C. Dvorak and Mrs. Ida Huinker Dvorak. On July 25, 1939, he married Honora Hayden at Maple Grove, and he farmed in the Towns of Cato and Maple Grove. He was a co-partner in Stetson Dvorak Implement Co., Menchalville, a director of Maribel State Bank, member of the Cato and Reedsville school boards and the CESA Tri-School Reorganization Committee, Whitelaw Sportmen's Club and Holy Name Society, had been a trustee for the St. Michael parish and was active in county 4-H. KATERINA DVORAK cemetery #63 From Der Nord Westen, 10 Oct. 1907: (From the correspondent in Mishicott, 08 Oct.) Death last Friday morning in her home here of Mrs. Jos. Dworak from stomach cancer. She had been ill for a year and death came as a release… She leaves her husband, 4 daughters and one son, all grown. Three of the daughters are married. The funeral was held Monday morning from the local Catholic Church with a large number of mourners.


MARY O. DWORAK (d. 2007) cemetery #66 Mary Olive Dworak, age 85, of Kewaunee, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at the Kewaunee Care Center. She was born Nov. 27, 1921 in Two Rivers. Olive married John Dworak on June 17, 1961 and he preceded her in death April 11, 1990. She was a very active member of St. Mary's Church at Tisch Mills, now St. Isadore the Farmer Parish, serving as a lector and member of the Rosary Society. She enjoyed visiting shut-ins, friends, and baking cookies for them and her family. A big part of her life was going out dancing. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) She was preceded in death by two step-daughters: Lida Hanson and Judy Dworak; one sister and brother-in-law: Eleanor and Dan Buretta; a brother and sister-in-law: Mark and Julia Mosey; and a special friend: Harold Sprang. ANNA (MARX) DYZBALYS cemetery #21 Mrs. John Dyzbalys, 56, passed away last Wednesday at the farm home, three miles northeast of School Hill, following a lingering illness. Mrs. Dyzbalys suffered a stroke in August, 1935, and had been confined to her bed since. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock from St. Gregory's Catholic church of St. Nazianz, with interment in the adjoining church cemetery. The deceased, nee Anna Marx, was born in Superior in 1879 and married Mr. Dyzbalys in 1898 at Sheboygan. They located on the homestead farm in Liberty. JOHN DYZBALYS cemetery #21 John Dyzbalys, aged 71, was found dead in bed at his home near Pigeon Lake, in Liberty township, Manitowoc county, on Thursday morning of last week by members of his family. While not in the best of health for some time, his condition was not alarming, as he had spent Wednesday in the village of St. Nazianz, visiting with relatives. The deceased was born in Lithuania July 29, 1869, and came to this county in 1896, settling in Sheboygan, where he was employed by the Phoenix Chair Company. In 1898 he was married to Miss Anna Marx of St. Nazianz, and the couple then took over the Marx homestead farm, where he passed away. His wife preceded him in death in March, 1936, and a son Joseph, died in April, 1930. Survivors are three sons, John, Jr., Frank and Edward, all at home, one sister; four brothers, and three grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Gregory's church, St. Nazianz, with the Rev. Fintan Holzknecht officiating.
