Chaloupka, 75, of 501 Buffalo St., Manitowoc, died Saturday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 9:15 Tuesday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, Francis Creek, the Rev. John Haen officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mishicot. Mr. Chaloupka was born March 16, 1889 at Mishicot, son of the late Joseph and Mary Shupita Chaloupka. He married Emma Shedivy at Mishicot April 25, 1916, and they farmed in the Town of Kossuth. She died Aug. 22, 1942. A year later he moved to Manitowoc and was employed by Mirro Aluminum Co. He retired 10 years ago. Survivors are four sons; two daughters; a brother, William of Mishicot; 20 grandchildren and a great grandshild. A sister preceded him in death. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Monday where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.

JOSEPH CHALOUPKA Cemetery #63 From the Two Rivers Reporter December 29, 1929 Death Claims Town Mishicot Man Thursday Joseph Chaloupka, 77, Victim of Heart Stroke; Funeral Is Saturday Stricken with a heart attack, Joseph Chaloupka, 77, well known resident of the town of Mishicot, near Fischerville, died at his home on Thursday. Funeral services will be held from the home at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, the Rev. Franklin E. Schlueter pastof the the Two Rivers and Mishicot Evangelical churches, officiating. The remains were taken to the home from the Specht funeral home at Mishicot this afternoon. Born in Bohemia, March 18, 1862, Mr. Chaloupka was brought to this country by his parents. Who settled on the farm in the town of Mishicot, where the former had resided since. He was married on Feb. 11, 1888 to Mary Shupeta, who preceded him in death. Mr. Chaloupka, who retired several years ago, but remained on the homestead farm, is survived by two sons, Edward of the town of Kossuth and William Chaloupka at home. There are also nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Richard Allen will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Mrs. Chaloupka, nee Lucille Radey, was born May 14, 1918, in the town of Manitowoc Rapids, daughter of the late Frank and Lillian Tuma Radey. She was married to William Chaloupka, Nov. 17, 1936, at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. Survivors include her husband, William; two sons; a daughter; seven grandchildren and a great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a sister. Mrs. Chaloupka, nee Mary Honzik, was born Jan. 8, 1893 in the Town of Gibson, daughter of the late Wencel and Madeline Eckhardt Honzik. She was married June 6, 1916, to William Chaloupka after which they settled on a farm in the Town of Mishicot where she had resided since. Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters; a son, William Jr., of Rt. 1 Mishicot; two brothers, George and Wenzel Honzik of Manitowoc; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Chaloupka Dies at Farm Home in Gibson ----- Pioneer of county who Lived in Gibson 65 Years Dies ----- Thomas Chaloupka, 78, a pioneer resident of Manitowoc county, who lived in the vicinity of the town of Gibson for 65 years, died in the township of Gibson yesterday. Death was due to complications attendant upon advancing age. Born in Bohemia on December 15, 1959, Chaloupka came to this country and directly to Wisconsin when 13 years of age. For many years he engaged in farming, retiring several years ago to come to the residence where he resided until his death. A first wife whom he married over 50 years ago, died a number of years ago and in 1898 he married Anna Shedivy who with four children: Mrs Willard Mott, Mrs. Sam Mott, Gibson, Edwin on the home farm, and Adolph of Larrabee, a brother Joseph of Mishicot, 28 grandchildren and five great grandchildren survive him. The body is at the Specht funeral home at Mishicot and will be removed to the home tomorrow. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday from the Presbyterian church at Melnik, Rev. Junek officiating.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday at Lambert Funeral Home, Mishicot. The Rev. Earl Brouchoud will officate with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mishicot. Mr. Chaloupka was born May 21, 1893 in the Town of Mishicot, son of the late Joseph and Mary Shupta Chaloupka. He married Mary Honzik June 6, 1916. She preceded him in death in 1966. Mr. Chaloupka was a lifetime farmer. Survivors include a son two daughters, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A brother and a sister preceded him in death. EVELYN L. CHARNEY cemetery #26 Mrs. Evelyn L. Charney, age 74, of Maribel, entered her eternal life Tuesday morning, August 18, 1992. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 1992, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Kellnersville. The Rev. James Feely officiating, with burial in the parish cemetery. The former Evelyn Paicher(sic)was born October 9, 1917, in Cicero, Ill., daughter of the late Otto and Lucille Budweiser Taicher. She attended the Green Street School in the Town of Cooperstown. On August 30, 1939, she was married to Victor Charney, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville. The couple farmed near Maribel for many years. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1973. She worked for Paragon Electric, Two Rivers, retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, its Rosary Society, and was president and correspondent for Western Fraternal Association Rosecrans Lodge No. 114, and was a member of the Wisconsin Czech's and the Norman Czech's, the Daughters of Isabella, Denmark, and the VFW Auxiliary Otto Oas Post No. 659 of Manitowoc. Survivors include, two sons and daughters-in-law, two daughters and sons-in-law, 17 grandchildren and their spouses, 11 great grandchildren; one brother and four sisters-in-law, two sisters and one brother-in-law, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and Raymond Taicher, and one brother-in-law, Harold Friedenberger. Friends may call at the Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, on Friday, from 4-9 p.m., when the Rosary Society will pray the rosary at 7:30 p.m. Friends may call at the church on Saturday, from 9 a.m. until the time of services. JOHN F. CHERNEY cemetery #89D John F. Cherney, age 94, Two Rivers, died on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001 at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Larry Seidl. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. John was born on May 5, 1907 at Krok in Kewaunee County, the son of the late Frank and Frances Cherney. He was educated in the Kewaunee County school system. John married Rose Zachek on June 1, 1926 at St. Luke's Catholic Church. He was employed at Mirro Aluminum for 40 years, retiring in 1962. John umpired softball games throughout Manitowoc County for 15 years. He was an avid Packer fan, attending Packer games from 1957 through 1998. John and his friends were regulars at the Washington High School football and basketball games for many years. Survivors include his wife, Rose Cherney, Two Rivers; one daughter, two granddaughters, one sister, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. MARY CHLOUPEK cemetery #43 (listed with Sullivan) From Der Nord Westen, 25 Nov. 1909: A heart attack Saturday evening has taken the life of Mrs. Joseph Chloupek, the mother of our County Judge John Chloupek. The deceased, who was born 10 March 1838 in Castle Gregory, Ireland, as a small child came with her parents to Canada, then to Manitowoc in 1848 where they settled in Town Kossuth at a time when there were more Indians there than white men. When she was 16 she married Joseph Chloupek, her now surviving husband. About 14 years ago Mr. Chloupek sold his property in Town Kossuth and moved to Manitowoc and has lived here ever since. In addition to her husband she is survived by 4 sons and 2 daughters, as well as 4 sisters and a brother. The funeral was conducted Tuesday morning from Sacred Heart Church.

Christel, 81, of St. Nazianz, a retired farmer and fox and mink rancher, and a former president of the Liberty Telephone Co., died Friday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital in Manitowoc following a lingering illness. Born Nov. 20, 1881, in the Town of Eaton, he was a son of Richard and Mary Stahl Christel, and married the former Minnie Kaltenbrunn on June 2, 1903. She died 10 years ago. Mr. Christel was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in St. Nazianz. Funeral services will be held at St. Gregory’s Church at 10 a.m. Monday, following brief family rites at the Christianson Funeral Home in St. Nazianz at 9:45 a.m. The Rev. Denis Cooney, pastor will be the celebrant of the requiem Mass and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday. ALVIN CHRISTEL Cemetery #6 From the Sheboygan Press Aug. 12, 1941 Alvin Christel Of Valders Is Summoned Sunday Morning Valders, Wis. - Alvin Christel, 42, Valders business may, passed away at 6:20 a.m., last Sunday, at his home after an illness of five weeks. Deceased was born in 1898 in St. Nazianz the son of William F. and the late Mrs. Christel. Three years later, the family moved to Valders where he was employed by his father in the Valders Canning factory. In 1917 he was married to Miss Minnie Pankratz. In 1923, he was appointed manager of the Valders Cash store and held this position until he became ill in July. Mr. Christel was treasurer of the William F. Christel, Inc., of Valders, the parent company which operated the various enterprises of the Christel family here and vicinity. He was active in community affairs and served for several terms as a member of the village board. He was president of the Lions club here in 1940. He was also a member of the Holy Name society, the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin, of St. Mary's parish at Clarks Mills, the Eagles in Manitowoc and the Men's Social club. He was associated with the Valders unit of the Wisconsin conversation and the County Fish and Game association. Survivors are the widow; four sons, three daughters, his father, William F. Stienwalks of St. Elizabeth hospital in Appleton, and the Rev. Walter Tuschel taking part in the requiem high mass. There were many floral tributes and spiritual bouquets. Christel, age 100, a resident of St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc, died Friday, August 15, 2003 at the home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2003 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of the Christian Burial will be Rev. Thomas Wojiechowski with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Augusta was born June 17, 1903 in St. Nazianz, daughter of the late Matthew and Anna Jerger Isselmann. On October 23, 1943 she married Joseph H. Christel in Appleton. He preceded her in death on June 21, 1959. Augusta was employed in retail sales in the fabric department at Schuette Brothers Dept. Store, Manitowoc for 18 years and then at Marshall Fields in Milwaukee until her retirement, then returning to Manitowoc. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church Rosary and Alter(sic) Society and Choir. Survivors include a sister, a sister-in-law, a brother-in-law, and nieces, nephews and relatives and friends. Augusta was also preceded in death by two sisters; Antonia Kuechmann and Marie Radey; and three brothers Florent Isselman, Joseph Isselmann and Matthew (Duke) Isselmann. CHRISTINA CHRISTEL cemetery #21 From the Sheboygan Press Jan. 4, 1938 Mrs. Christel Dies At Home Of Her Son Near St. Nazianz St. Nazianz - Mrs. Christina Christel, 79, passed away Monday noon at the home of her son, Joseph J. Christel, two miles southwest of here. She was born July 5, 1858, in New York City same(sic) to St. Nazianz with her parents when she was still an infant. She has resided in this vicinity since that time. In 1880 she was united in marriage with Wendelin Christel by the Rev. Father Peter A. Mutz, successor to the Rev. Father Oschwald, leader of the religious community established in and around St. Nazianz. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. William Ruppel, and five sons, Hugo of Collins, Peter, Joseph J., Max and Rudolph, all of St. Nazianz, 19 granchildren and one great- grandchild. Her husband died about 15 years ago and an infant son and a daughter, 19, also preceded their mother in death. Mrs. Christel was for many years a member of the Christian Mothers' society. Members of that organization will meet at the home at 7:30 p.m. Thursday to recite the rosary and will also attend the funeral in a body. The body will be brought to the home of Joseph Christel Tuesday afternoon, where it may be viewed until the time of services Friday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Gregory's church here. The Rev. DELORIES CHRISTEL Cemetery #82 (sent in by researcher/see contributors page) From the Sheboygan Press, April 12, 1939 Young Daughter Is Laid To Rest After Last Rites Kiel, Wis. - Funeral services for Oelores(sic) Ann, 6-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Christel, who passed away at her home near Kiel last Friday evening, were held at the C. J. Meiselwitz Funeral home in this city at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and at 2 p.m. at the St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed church. The Rev. E.L. Worthman, pastor of the church, officiated and chose a passage of Scripture from the book of Job 1, verse 21, on which to base his sermon, "The Lord Gave and the Lord Hath Taken Away." During the services, Mrs. Harry Dawurske and Mrs Athniel Raquet sang "I think when I read that sweet story of old," "Jesus Loves Me" and "In the Garden," accompanied by Mrs. A. Ronald Griebnow. Pupils of the first grade and their teacher of the Woodland Park school attended the services in a body. There were many floral tributes. Honorary pallbearers were Arno Ruh, Clarence Mangan, Eugene Christel and Clarence Rabe, and active bearers were William Christel, Joseph Krupp, Adolph Sievert and Elmer Rabe. Relatives and friend from Valders, St. Nazianz, School Hill, Meeme township, Eaton township, Schleswig township, Newton, Kiel and vicinity attended the services.

ED A. CHRISTEL cemetery #82 Ed. A. Christel, 89, of 723 Center St. Kiel, died Wednesday at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton. Mr. Christel had resided the past three weeks at Willowdale Nursing Home, New Holstein. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel. The Rev. John F. Baumann will officiate with burial in Kiel Cemetery. Mr. Christel was born Dec. 25, 1885, in the Town of Eaton, son of the late Richard and Mary Stahl Christel. He received his education in area schools. He married Ida Rabe Dec. 26, 1908 at Zion Lutheran Church parsonage, Louis Corners. They operated a farm in the Town of Liberty for six years and then purchased a tavern at School HIll which they operated for 11 years. They then located on a farm in the Town of Schleswig. After their retirement 21 years ago they lived in Howards Grove for seven years before moving to Kiel. Mr. Christel was on the original committee to erect a new Liberty Pole in the Town of Meeme. ELLA CHRISTEL Cemetery #59 From the Sheboygan Press, Sept. 9, 1926 VALDERS WOMAN DIES FOLLOWING BIRTH OF CHILD Mrs. Ella Christel, 25, wife of Louis Christel, died at her home in Valders Tuesday morning, following the birth of a baby girl. Mrs. Christel was born on October 21, 1900. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hertel of Spring Valley. The body was removed to the home of the parents there today and funeral services will be held Friday morning from the Hertel residence to St. Fidelis church where services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Rev. Mr. Schmidt will officiate and burial will be made in St. Fidelis cemetery. The survivors are the grieved husband, three daughters, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hertel, Spring Valley, three sisters, Mrs. Ed. Christel, age 84, a resident of St. Mary's Nursing Home, Manitowoc, and a former Kiel resident, died Friday morning, Dec. 1, 2006, at St. Mary's Nursing Home. He was born June 6, 1922, in School Hill, son the late Edward and Ida Rabe Christel. Eugene was a Kiel High School graduate, and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country proudly during World War II. On May 7, 1949, he married Elaine Koeser in Elkhart Lake. Eugene was employed at Lake-to-Lake in Kiel for many years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Eugene enjoyed spending time with his family and woodworking. ISADOR CHRISTEL Cemetery #83 From the Sheboygan Press July 14, 1975 Isidore H. Christel Isidore H. Christel, 92, of 620 St. Paul St., Kiel, a retired Kiel businessman, died Sunday morning at Calumet Homestead, New Holstein. He was associated with his late father in business at Valders and later operated a general store in Brillion. In May, 1933 he founded Christel's Department Store in Kiel, which is now operated by several members of his family. Born on July 8, 1883 in the Town of Schleswig, he was a son of the late William F. and Wilhelmina Lulloff Christel. He attended the district school and Manitowoc Business College. On Oct. 11, 1904 he married Ida Terger at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. Mrs. Christel died Dec. 16, 1967. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, and its Holy Name Society and the Kiel Area Chamber of Commerce. Survivors are two daughters, seven sons, and numerous grand and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Edgar Ryan and Mrs. Louise Kletzien, both of Manitowoc, and three brothers, William, Minneapolis, Louis, Wisconsin Rapids, and Arthur, Manitowoc. Three sons and a grandson preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Church, the Rev. Francis Kerscher, pastor, celebrant of the requiem Mass. JEROME CHRISTEL cemetery #83 Jerome Christel, age 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. Isadore H. Christel, passed away at the home of his parents here, on Friday evening at eight o'clock, after an illness of 9 months' duration. The deceased was born in Valders, July 4, 1922, where he later attended the parochial school. The Christel family moved to Brillion later where they resided for a number of years, Mr. Christel conducting a merchandise store there. On May 12, a year ago, the Christel family moved to Kiel, where they are also operating a merchandise store. Due to ill health, the young lad was unable to attend school here. Jerome is survived by his parents, two sisters, nine brothers, and his aged grandfather, William F. Christel of Valders. Christel, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Christel was born in Germany May 21, 1849 and came here at the age of 3 years with her parents, who settled in St. Nazianz. Mrs. Christel, nee Mary Stahl, was married to Mr. Christel at St. Nazianz Feb. 6, 1888. She was a member of the Christian Mothers' Sociality and the Third Order of St. Francis. Thirteen children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Christel, six of whom are living. They are: two daughters, Mrs. Jack Krupp of St. Ann and Mrs. Katie Fimon of St. Nazianz; four sons, Joe W. Christel and Albert of St. Nazianz and Henry and Edward, who live near New Holstein. A brother, Frank Stahl of Wisconsin Rapids, 29 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren also survive. Mr. Christel preceded his wife in death six years ago. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Gregory's church at St. Nazianz with the Rev. Holzknecht officiating.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Rose Gutman, was born Nov. 6, 1886, in the town of Eaton on a farm a mile north of St. Nazianz and has lived there all her life. On June 2, 1908, she married Peter Christel, also of Eaton township. Survivors are the husband, one son at home, and one sister, Mrs. Anton Baumgartner of St. Nazianz. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 at the Christel home and at 10:00 at St. Gregory's church at St. Nazianz with the Rev. Finton Holzknecht, S.D.S., officiating. Burial will be made in the adjoining church cemetery. Mrs. Christel was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and a member of the Christian Mothers of this parish, and served as their secretary for six years; members will hold a vigil at the Christel home on Monday evening at 8 o'clock. She was also a member of the North St. Nazianz Homemakers and was its leader since it was organized many years ago. Friends may call at the Christel home until the hour of services on Tuesday morning to pay their last respects.

Born October 28, 1893, in the Town of Eaton, he was a son of the late Wendel and Christen Kaiser Christel. He married Minnie Quante on February 19, 1924 at St. Nazianz. Christel, 60, of 1025 Lincoln Blvd., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Monday evening at his home following a coronary attack. Private family funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo Schmitt will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Christel was born July 17, 1903 at Valders, son of I.H. Christel, and the late Ida Jaeger Christel. He married Alberta Matznick April 9, 1931, at Clarks Mills. They lived at Valders for 14 years before moving to Manitowoc. He had been employed at Bloomer Buick-Pontiac Co., Chilton, and was a member of Elks Lodge 687. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, a son, his father, of Kiel; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Biederwolf of Brillion and Mrs. Norman Orth of Kiel; eight brothers, Roman of Lake Winnebago, Arnold of New Holstein, John of La Crosse, and Lawrence, Eugene, Raymond, James and Omar of Kiel; and seven grandchildren. A brother, Jerome, and a granddaughter, Lynn Marie Christel, preceded him in death. There will be no visitation rites. The family has requested that memorials be made to the Coronary Extensive Care Unit at Holy Family Hospital.

WILLIAM CHRISTEL cemetery #21 Valders Business Man, Dead at 90 VALDERS—William Christel, 90, pioneer pea canning company executive, civic leader, and bank president, died Friday morning at the home of a daughter. Mrs. Peter Thielen. Mr. Christel had been in failing health since last November, stricken as he observed his 90th birthday. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a. m. Monday at the Bergs Funeral Home, followed by a 10 a. m. requiem high mass at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. The Rev. Frederick Dorn will officiate and interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Death of Mr. Christel ends a colorful career of a lifelong county resident, long identified with the industrial, mercantile and banking life of St. Nazianz, Valders and Hilbert. His birthday on Nov. 15 of each year was the occasion of a county wide celebration which his family, six daughters and six sons, planned long in advance. Perfected 13 Inventions He perfected 13 inventions in the field of vegetable canning, including a “texture meter” for testing the maturity of peas that influenced pea canning all over the world. Mr. Christel was born in a log cabin at Steinthal, in the town of Schleswig in 1869(sic) of Austrian immigrant parents. He entered public life early. When just of age he was elected a town supervisor. He became manager of a cheese box factory at St. Nazianz and the same year, 1890, married Miss Wilhelmina Lulloff. In 1895 Mr. Christe1 moved to Valders and built a general store and later added a tavern. He next organized the Pioneer Canning Company which later expanded and became the Valders Canning Company with plants in Valders and Hilbert. He next entered the hardware implement and garage field, building modern facilities for these enterprises in the village. He was the first president of the village and down through the years took an active part in the industrial growth and expansion of this community. 50 Year Member Mr. Christel was a 50 year member of the Wisconsin Canners Association. At his death he headed the William Christel Corporation, controlling the varied enterprises in the village, head of the canning company, president of the Valders State Bank, a director of the Hilbert State Bank and president of the Valders-Collins Oil Company. He was a member of the St. Gregory Catholic parish at St. Nazianz, a 50 year member of the Catholie Knights of Wisconsin, the Valders Lion Club and the Eagles Club. He was an honorary member of the Manitowoc Marine Band, whose members always serenaded Mr. Christel on his birthday. Mrs. Christel died in 1913. Survivors are six daughters, Mrs. Rudolph Kletzien of Manitowoc and Mrs. Louis Pankratz, Mrs. Peter Thielen, Mrs. John Brennan, Mrs. Charles Ryan, Mrs. Edgar Ryan, all of Valders; six sons, Isadore of Kiel, William M. of Minneapolis, Joseph of Manitowoc, Louis of Nekoosa, Wis., and Norbert and Arthur of Valders; 75 grandchildren, 103 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. ANDREW CHRISTENSEN cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 10 Jan. 1907: About two weeks ago sailor Andrew Christiansen, while making repairs on the schooner “Two Myrtles”, fell about six feet into the hold and was so badly injured that he had to be taken to Holy Family Hospital. Gertrude C. Christensen, age 92, a resident of the Hamilton Memorial Home, Two Rivers, formerly of 2401 Polk St., died quietly late Monday, Feb. 9, 2004 at the Hamilton Home, with her family at her side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am. on Friday, Feb. 13, 2004 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Parish, St. Luke site, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. William G. O'Brien, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. Gertrude was born April 26, 1911 in Two Rivers, a daughter of the late Milford and Meta (Ammerman) Henrickson. She attended St. Luke Parochial School, and Two Rivers Washington High School, graduating with the class of 1928. After high school, Gertrude worked for a law firm in Two Rivers for a couple years before becoming employed with Hamilton Mfg. Co., where she worked as a stenographer until 1937. On Oct. 2, 1937 she was united in marriage to Nelmer L. Christensen at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. He preceded her in death March 30, 1972. She then took time to raise her family, before returning to work in 1960 at the City Dairy in Two Rivers. In 1962, she became employed at the Lakeview Net Co., where she worked until her retirement in 1978. She was a lifetime member of the St. Luke Ladies Altar Society, and a charter member of the Two Rivers Senior Center, where she enjoyed singing with the Senior Center Chorus and the Senior Center Mello- Tones group. Gertie enjoyed shopping, but above all enjoyed the time spent with her family. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law; one son and daughter-in-law; a son-in-law; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by one sister, special friends, many nieces, nephews, and her many friends at the Two Rivers Senior Center. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Joan Kumbalek; one brother and sister-in-law; Dick (Charlotte) Henrickson; and a nephew: Rick Henrickson. JOHN CHRISTENSEN cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 14 Jan. 1904: Death from old age debility on Mon. evening of John Christiansen, a well known resident of our city. Mr. Christiansen was born 06 Feb. 1817 in Husum, Schleswig-Holstein, and came to America in 1866. He lived in Two Rivers until 1882, then moved to Kings Bridge, and finally moved to Manitowoc in 1886 where he has lived ever since. In addition to his widow he is survived by 6 children, namely, Fred, Peter and Mathias who live here, Emil in Bar Harbor, Ohio, George in Milwaukee, and Ferdinand in Sheboygan. The deceased had operated a large mercantile store and brewery in Germany. His funeral will be held this afternoon from the funeral home at 7 York St. under the direction of Pastor Zenk of the Reformed Church.

PETER CHRISTIANSEN cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 20 Aug. 1908: Death Friday of Peter Christiansen, a well-known resident of our city, at the home of his son, Policeman Wm. Christiansen, where he had been living for about a year. He had come to Two Rivers from Germany as a youth. For several years he served as a postal transporter between Two Rivers and Kewaunee and operated a loan office in both of these towns. Later he moved to Manitowoc and opened a boarding house near Goodrich dock, along with a store. He sold out two years later when he became ill. His wife preceded him in death many years ago.
