EDWARD BRICE Edward D. Brice, St., 76,of 1109 Victory St., Two Rivers, died early Friday evening at the Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Deja & Martin funeral chapels and at 10:30 at St. Mark Catholic Church. The Rev. Michael Koch will officiate and burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. Mr. Brice was born on Feb. 13, 1895, at Bay Settlement, Wis., son of the late Martin and Mary Van Pey Brice. He attended rural schools in that area and came to Two Rivers in 1919. He was employed at the Mirro Aluminum Co. until his retirement 10 years ago. On June 18, 1915, he married the former Mildred Van Kylen at Stiles, Wis. She preceded him in death Aug. 6, 1965. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mark Church. Survivors include two daughters and five sons; one sister, Mrs. Mamie Kolodzik of Manitowoc; 31 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. AUGUSTE BRICK cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 06 June 1889: Death of Mrs. Augusta Brick (nee Kasten) on Thurs. evening of childbed fever. Her husband is Carl Brick, resident on 9th Street in Manitowoc The deceased reached the age of 28 yrs. 11 mos. 26 days and had given birth to twins, one of whom died 12 hrs. before the mother. CARL BRICK cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 18 Sep. 1902: Death here Mon. of 82-yr. old Charles Brick from a stroke in the home of his son-inlaw Mr. H. Kansier here. Mr. Brick came to Manitowoc in 1847 where he has always lived and belonged among the very first German settlers of our city. He is survived by his sorrowing widow, a son and a daughter. ELROY H. BRICK cemetery #44

Elroy H. Brick, age 82, of Manitowoc, passed away Friday afternoon, Nov. 1, 2002 surrounded by his family at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, 1033 S. Eighth St., Manitowoc with the Rev. David Rosenow and the Rev. Bruce Bitter officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Elroy was born Nov. 24, 1919 in Manitowoc to the late Adolph C. and Erna M. Lippert Brick. He attended schools in Manitowoc and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1937. He then continued his education at Manitowoc Business College. In November 1941 he was inducted into the United States Air Force, serving overseas during World War II. Elroy served for 50 months both in the United States and Japan, being honorably discharged in January 1946 after having attained the rank of technical sergeant. He then returned to Manitowoc where he became employed with J.J. Stangel Co. for 45 years, retiring in May 1985. Eiroy's last 25 years were spent as an industrial supply sales representative, covering many different territories during his years of experience. His last assignment included the Kohler Co. where he made sales contacts for approximately nine years. He married Ione Jacobson on April 8, 1944 at Sumter, S.C. She preceded him in death June 14, 1989. Music was a big part of his life and he was active as a trumpet player for many years. Elroy was a member and officier of the Lakeshore Wind Ensemble and Lakeshore Big Band of the University of Wisconsin - Manitowoc campus. He also was a member of the Art Nickels Lakeshore Grenadiers and played with many local musical dance bands, including the Elroy Berkholtz Orchestra, Gene Heier Orchestra, Duke Janda, Bob Mlada, Dick Fricke and others. Elroy also spent 29 years with the Green Bay Packers Band, retiring in 1981. In 1977, he received a plaque from the National Football League and the Green Bay Packers Football Organization for completing 25 years of service in this group. He truly was proud to have been a member of the band during the famous "Ice Bowl" and the "Glory Years" of the Packers. In 1955 he received the Fine Arts Award for Music from the University of Wisconsin Extension - Manitowoc Campus Music Department. Memberships and organizations that he belonged to include being a life long member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church, past member and officier of the Manitowoc Marine Band, past member and officier of the Manitowoc Golden K Kiwanis Club, member and officer of the Lakeshore Wind ensemble, along with fund raising chairman, longtime member and officier of the Manitowoc Marine Band, past member and officer of the Manitowoc Musicians Association, member and active volunteer of the Manitowoc Senior Center, member of the Travelers Protective Association, participated in Meals on Wheels where he partnered with his five grandchildren with the Lincoln High School community service project delivering meals on wheels, active with the Medicare Helper Program, American Red Cross, Cancer Society, Heart Association, Jail and Bail programs, active volunteer at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center and served on the Volunteer Advisory Committee and other volunteer situations. In 1995, Elroy received the Meritorious Award for Dedicated and Outstanding Service in Kiwanis. In 1996, he was named Kiwanian of the Year of the Golden Kiwanis. In 1996 he received a certificate of achievement as a member of the first class of the Manitowoc Citizens Police Academy. In 1998 he also received the Volunteer PRISM Award from Holy Family Memorial Hospital for out- standing volunteer of the year. Elroy was a charter member and past officer of the TRIAD Committee and a member of the Manitowoc County Crime Prevention Committee. His retirement years were dedicated to volunteerism and Elroy believed in his community and was so proud to be an active citizen and to represent it in affiliation with Manitowoc's sister city, Kamogawa, Japan. His love and interest in music took him to Europe and Japan several times. Elroy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and is survived by his daughter, his son and daughter-in-law, five grandchildren, one great grandson, one brother and sister-in-law. Friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 3 from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be no visitation at the church on Monday prior to the funeral service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be given to Holy Family Memorial Medical Center Volunteer Service Program, Lakeshore Wind Ensemble or First German Ev. Lutheran Church Growth Fund. Elroy enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandson. ESTHER BRICK cemetery #78 Mrs. Charles (Esther) Brick, 71, of Rt. 2, Brillion, died Wednesday evening at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Collins. The Rev. Robert Wendland will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Brick, nee Esther Olm, was born June 7, 1899, in the Town of Eaton, daughter of the late Herman A. and Lora Wirth Olm. She was married to Charles Brick June 10, 1921, at St. Peter Church, Collins. The couple celebrated its golden wedding anniversary in 1970. Mrs. Brick was member of St. Peter Church, the Ladies Aid and organist of the church for many years. Survivors include her husband, two sons, a brother, Johnathan, of Reedsville, two sisters, Mrs. Hulda Braheim, of Rt. 4, Chilton, and Mrs. Laura Waak, of Manitowoc and six grandchildren. GEORGE BRICK cemetery #10 From Der Nord Westen, 20 Feb. 1902: From Centerville it is reported that Geo. Brick, a prominent resident of that town, was found dead in his house Fri. morning. The deceased formerly lived in Town Meeme but for the last many years has been in Centerville where he handled his aged mother's farm. His mother died last year, since which event Brick lost all interest in life. A coroner's inquest determined that he died of a heart attack. He was 44. (Long article)

ELMER BRICKBAUER cemetery #82 Elmer G Brickbauer, 89, formerly of 415 First St., Kiel, died Monday, Sept. 12, 1994 at Calumet Homestead, New Holstein where he resided the past two years. He was born July 11, 1905 in the Town of Russell, a son of the late George and Rosa Conrad Brickbauer. He attended schools in the Town of Russell. On May 28, 1932, he married the former Meta Hildebrandt at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Town of Russell. The couple farmed in the Town of Russell until 1944, when they moved to Kiel. Elmer did custom combining in the Kiel and Elkhart Lake areas. He had a soda route for Kiel Bottling Works, worked at the Plymouth Canning Co., Kiel Woodenware and then was employed at Kohler Co for seven years, retiring in 1970. After his retirement he was a caretaker for the Kiel City Cemetery for approximately ten years. His wife, Meta, preceded his in death on June 1, 1988. He was a life-time member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Town of Russell, where he was a choir member, Sunday school superintendent and teacher, a member of the church consistory and St. Paul’s cemetery committee. He was also a member of the Kiel Senior Citizens, Senior Singers, a 4-H leader, a member of Sheboygan County Farm Bureau, Kiel Barbershoppers and a life-time member of the Eagles. Survivors include one son, two grandchildren, and two sisters, Eva Henschel, West Bend and Anita Adams, Plymouth. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. META BRICKBAUER cemetery #82 Mrs. Meta W. Brickbauer, 80, of 415 First St., Kiel, died Wednesday evening at home, following a brief illness. The former Meta Hildebrandt was born on March 24, 1908 in the Town of Russell, the daughter of the late Paul and Henrietta (Haarmann) Hildebrandt. She attended Town of Russell schools and Sheboygan Business College. On May 28, 1932, she married Elmer Brickbauer at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Town of Russell. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1982. She worked as a housekeeper for various people in Sheboygan. She was also employed at Riverside Grocery in Kiel for approximately 30 years. Mrs. Brickbauer was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Town of Russell, and its ladies aid; was a lifetime organist; superintendent and teacher of Sunday School; church choir, Kiel Senior Citizens; was a former 4-H leader in the Town of Russell; and was a past president of the Board of Mother’s Associations at Kiel High School. AMELIA (HOFFMANN) BRIEGER cemetery #83 Former Resident Laid to Rest Here Mrs. Frank Brieger, Sr., nee Miss Amelia Hoffmann passed away at 8:45 p. m. on Wednesday of last week at the St. Nicholas hospital in Sheboygan, after a lingering illness of about fifteen years duration. Mrs. Brieger had been critically ill, for two weeks before her death. The deceased was born in Berlin, Germany in 1867. She was united in marriage to Frank Brieger in the city of Berlin and the couple moved to America in 1892 and settled on a farm near Valley City, North Dakota. After spending several years of their life there they moved near Kiel where they operated a farm. In 1921 they moved to this city where they lived until 1927, when they moved to Sheboygan. She is survived by her husband and five children; Edward and Mrs. Oscar L. Arnold of this city, Frank Jr. of Sheboygan, and William and Marie at home. One grandson, two brothers, and two sisters, the last named four residing in Germany, also survive. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9:30 a. m. in this city from the Sts. Peter and Paul church with the Rev. Fr. A. Roder officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery. (No newspaper named, 1928)


FRANK BRIEGER cemetery #83 Frank Brieger, 89, a resident of Kiel and the Kiel vicinity for many years, died this morning at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Brieger, 828 Sixth St., Kiel. Mr. Brieger was born in Berlin, Germany, Nov. 17, 1867, and came to the United States in 1892. He farmed near Valley City, N.D., for a time, then operated a farm near Kiel until his retirement in 1921. He moved to Kiel after his retirement. Mr. Brieger's wife, the former Amelia Hoffmann, who also was a native of Germany, preceded him death in February, 1929. Survivors are three sons, Edward and William, of Kiel, and Frank Jr., Milwaukee; a daughter, Mrs. Oscar (Rose) Arnold, Kiel; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Frank Hartmann, died in July, 1956. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Kiel following brief rites at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home at 9 a.m. The Rev. LAURA BRIEGER cemetery #83 Mrs. Edward G. Brieger, 79, of 828 6th St., Kiel, died Friday at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton. Born Aug. 29, 1890, in the Town of Rhine, she was the daughter of the late George and Eva Holtzmann Schmahl. She attended the Harrison District School. She married Edward Brieger of Kiel on Oct. 28, 1919, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel, where they lived after their marriage. The Briegers observed their golden wedding anniversary in October of 1969. Mrs. Brieger was a member of the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Parish, the General Arts Homemaker Club, and the Kiel Senior Citizens Club. She is survived by her husband and one sister, Mrs. Leonard Platz, R. 1, Elkhart Lake. Two sisters and one brother preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at Kiel with brief family rites at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Church. The Rev. ANTON BRIESKE cemetery #35 Anton Brieske, 79, of 1128 N. Eight St. Manitowoc, died Thursday morning at Family Heritage Nursing Home, Manitowoc, following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Thaddeus J. Koszarek will officiate and burial will be in Kossuth Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Brieske was born June 10, 1894, at Sparta, son of the late John and Catherine Kaesmann Brieske. He was a World War I veteran. He married Elizabeth Britton Apr. 28, 1919, at Marshfield. He had been employed at Boehringer Oil Co., Two Rivers, retiring in 1953. His wife preceded him in death April 30, 1973. Survivors include a daughter, a foster son, (Survivors names omitted for privacy.) a sister, Mrs. Grace Hussermann, of LaCrosse; and five grandchildren. JOSEPHINE BRIGHAM cemetery #43b Mrs. Josephine Brigham, 62, died Sunday morning at the St. Mary's Home for the Aged, where she had made her home since 1928. She was born in Poland in 1883 and came to Manitowoc at an early age. She was married to Henry Brigham, who preceded her in death many years ago. There are no immediate survivors. The body was moved to the St. Marys home today from the Pfeffer funeral home and services will be held at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Marys home. Interment will be in the St. Marys cemetery. ARTHUR J. BRILL cemetery #82 Mr. Brill, a Kiel jeweler prior to entering the postal service in 1943, had been ill several months. He was appointed postmaster early in 1941 and continued in office 16 years until transferring to rural carrier on Route 2, Kiel, in 1957. He continued on the rural route until retiring from the postal service in December 1965. Prior to his appointment as postmaster, Mr. Brill had owned and operated a jewelry store on Fremont Street from May, 1924, having gone into business after learning the watchmaker trade in Milwaukee. A native of the Town of Russell, he was born December 29, 1895, a son of the late Theodore and Julia George Brill. He attended Kiel High School and worked on his father’s farm until November, 1917, when he joined the Army of World War I and sailed for France in July, 1918, serving with the 340th Infantry. Following the war he returned home and was discharged in April, 1919. He married Ruby Engel of Kiel on June 26, 1920. The couple farmed in the Town of Schleswig north of Kiel for four years until Mr. Brill went to Milwaukee as an apprentice watchmaker. He was a member of Kasper-Becklay-Wilkens American Legion Post 99 at Kiel, Modern Woodman Lodge and National Rural Mail Carriers Association. Survivors are his wife; a son, a daughter, six grandchildren; a brother, E. L., Milwaukee, and a sister, Mrs. Lucy Possley, Fond du Lac. Three brothers preceded his in death. GEORGE N. BRILL cemetery #83 George N. Brill, 66, passed away Wednesday evening at his home, 914 Seventh street, Kiel. The deceased, youngest son of the late William and Catherine Brill, was born in Calumet county on June 5, 1882. He was married to Miss Mary Hubing at St. Mary's church at Lake Church on May 9, 1911. The couple operated farms near New Holstein and in Town Meeme until 1941 when they retired and moved to Kiel. The survivors include his wife, one son, Clarence of New Holstein; three daughters, Mrs. Wilmer (Florence) Graf of Kiel, Mrs. Walter (Martha) Geotsh of Plymouth, Mrs. Arthur (Alice) Gruber of Chilton, one brother, Theodore of Kiel; two sisters, Mrs. Veronica Petesch of Great Falls, Mont. and Mrs. Clara Rach of Kiel. Thirteen grandchildren also remain. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Meiselwitz Funeral home in Kiel and at 10:30 at the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church. The Rev. F.X. HELENA BRILL cemetery #82 Mrs. Theodore Brill, 77, of 116 Brooklyn street, Chilton, died at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Agnes hospital, Fond du Lac. She had been in health for two months. Nee Helena Siegmund, she was born Dec. 23, 1873, in the town of Russell, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Siegmund, and made her home in Milwaukee for 42 years. Following her marriage to Theodore Brill on June 26, 1940, the couple settled in Kiel where they resided until 18 months ago when they moved to Chilton. Survivors are her husband; a brother, Charles H., and a sister, Mrs. Rosina Rensch, of Milwaukee. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Meiselwitz Funeral home, Kiel. The Rev. Ernest J. Nelson, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, will officiate, and burial will be in the Kiel cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home until the time of the services. JEROME G. BRILL cemetery #83 Jerome G. Brill, 49, of 530 Calumet Ave., Kiel, a route man for the Kiel Bottling Works, died early Monday afternoon of a sudden heart attack. Mr. Brill, who had been working regularly, was stricken while making a delivery at St. Anna. He died there before he could be taken to a hospital. A native of New Holstein, he was born Jan. 31, 1908, a son of Mrs. Alma Voelker Brill and the late Otto Brill. He married the former Eleanor Heus of Calumet Harbor, June 6, 1933, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Fond du Lac. After marriage the couple lived for 10 years in New Holstein where Mr. Brill was employed by the Depies-Heus Co., a bottle gas distributer. They later lived in Hilbert a short time before moving to Kiel 10 years ago. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Surviving are his wife and two daughters. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Alma Brill, New Holstein; a sister, Mrs. Edmund Vetter, Dotyville; and a brother, Floyd, Calumet Harbor. He was preceded in death by one sister. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Kiel, following brief 9:30 rites at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home. Celebrant of the requiem mass will be the Rev. F.X. Kheil, pastor. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. JULIA BRILL cemetery #82 Plan Funeral Rites Tuesday For Late Mrs. Theadore Brill Kiel, Wis.-Funeral services for Mrs. Theadore Brill, nee Julia George, aged seventy-three, passed away at her home, in this city at 10:45 a. m. Saturday, will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the C. J. Melselwitz Funeral Home with interment in Kiel cemetery. It was not decided at the time of going to press who would conduct the services. The former Julia George was born May 25, 1866, in Sheldon, N. Y., the daughter of Peter and Catherine George. She was united in marriage to Mr. Brill of New Holstein at the Osage Mission, now St. Paul, Kansas. The couple spent five years on a farm in Kansas and then moved to Stockbrldge for a year. They spent two years on a farm in the town of New Holstein, then moved to a town of Russell farm, spent four years on a town of Rhine farm, went back to Russell in 1900 to live on a farm now owned by their son Norbert and in 1917 came to the present residence here. While in Russell her husband served as town clerk for 12 years and school clerk for nine years. He was deputy food administrator here for a number of years, justice of peace for three years and retired as city clerk some time ago. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1936. Brill Buried Here Funeral services for Mrs. Theodore Brill, nee Julia George, aged seventy-three, who passed away at her home in this city at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, were held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the C. J. Meiselwitz Funeral home with interment in the Kiel cemetery. J. Peeke of Fond du Lac conducted the services. Six nephews of the deceased, Jerome, LeRoy, Elmer, Floyd and Clarence Brill, and Hugo Rach, acted as pallbearers. Mrs. Brill was born on May 25, 1866, in Sheldon, N. Y., the daughter of Peter and Catherine George. She was united in marriage to Mr. Brill of New Holstein at the Osage Mission, now St. Paul, Kansas. The couple spent five years on a farm in Kansas and then moved to Stockbridge for a year. They spent two years on a farm in the town of New Holstein, then moved to a town of Russell farm, spent four years on a town of Rhine farm, went back, to Russell in 1900 to live on a farm now owned by their son Norbert, and in 1917 came to their present residence here. While in Russell her husband served as town clerk for 12 years and school clerk for 9 years. He was deputy food administrator here for a number of years, justice of the peace for 3 years, and retired as city clerk some time ago. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1936. MARY BRILL cemetery #83 Mrs. Mary Brill, 82, of 914 7th St., Kiel, died this morning at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. She was born April 15, 1886 at Belgium, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Depies Hubing, and attended parochial school at Lake Church in Ozaukee County. On May 9, 1911, she and George W. Brill were married at Lake Church. The couple farmed at rural New Holstein and at School Hill, before moving to Kiel in 1941. Her husband died May 26, 1948. Mrs. Brill was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, and its Christian Mothers Society. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Alice) Gruber, Chilton, Mrs. Walter (Martha) Goetsch, Plymouth, and Mrs. Wilmer (Florence) Graff, R. 1, Kiel; a son, Clarence, Honolulu, Hawaii; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, with a requiem Mass at 10 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Rev. George Kiefer, pastor, celebrant, following brief family rites at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. RUBY BRILL cemetery #82 Ruby Brill, 82, of 313 Indian Hill Road, Kiel, died Wednesday morning at her home. She had been in ill health for the past several months. The former Ruby Engel was born October 9, 1900, in Kiel, a daughter of the late John and Dora Arnold Engel. She graduated from Kiel High School in 1918. On June 26, 1920, she married Arthur Brill. The couple farmed in the Town of Schleswig until 1924, when they moved to Kiel, where Mr. Brill was the postmaster. He died in 1969 Mrs. Brill was a charter member of Kasper-Wilkens-Beckley American Legion Auxiliary No. 99 Survivors include a daughter, a son, six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. THEODORE BRILL cemetery #82 Theodore Brill, 96, of 58 Brooklyn St., Chilton, died Tuesday afternoon at Calumet Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since Sunday. Mr. Brill was born in the Town of New Holstein Feb. 23, 1862, a son of William and Kathryn Brill, and spent most of his life in Calumet and Sheboygan counties. He was married to Julia George at St. Paul, Kan., on Oct. 18, 1886, farmed in that area for a time, then returned to farm in the Town of Russell, Sheboygan County. He served as school clerk for nine years and clerk of the Town of Russell for 12 years. In 1922 the couple moved to Kiel, and Mr. Brill served as city clerk there for 12 years. Mrs. Brill died on July, 1939. Later, Mr. Brill was married to Helena Siegmund, and in 1949 the couple moved to Chilton where she died in December, 1950. Mr. Brill leaves four sons, Isidore, of Oshkosh, Everest, of Milwaukee, Arthur, of Kiel, and Raymond, of Ft. Atkinson; one daughter, Mrs. Nick (Lucy) Possley, Fond du Lac; 10 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. One son, Norbert, five brothers, and five sisters preceded Mr. Brill in death. She was a bookkeeper at Robert Hall for many years, and retired as the manager of the Goodwill Store. She was currently the President of the Two Rivers Homemakers, a member of the Two Rivers Community Hospital Volunteers, and the Ladies of Holy Redeemer. There she was married to Hans Brocher Nov. 14, 1894. The family moved to Two Rivers in 1917 where Mr. Brocher died in 1922. For a number of years she was engaged in practical nursing, assisting the later Dr. A. M. Farrell. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Raymond Schmitt, of Edgewood Place, Two Rivers, with whom she made her home for a number of years. HANS BROCHER cemetery #89A Hans Peter Broker (sic) answered the summons of death Monday morning at Holy Family hospital. Death came as a messenger of relief from long suffering with rheumatism. William O’Brien with cremation to follow. He was born Sept. 20, 1914 in Merrill, Wis., son of the late Hans and Eva Weber Brocher. He attended St. Luke’s Grade School and graduated from Washington High School, Two Rivers, class of 1932. Wilfred spent several years on The Great Lakes as a crew member on iron ore carriers. On Jan. 17, 1942, he married the former Edna Mertens at St. Lukes Catholic Church, Two Rivers. She preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 1998. Wilfred was employed as a welder at Hamilton Manufacturing, Two Rivers, until his retirement in 1976. He volunteered much of his time at the Hamilton Wood Type Museum in Two Rivers. ARTHUR F. BROCKER cemetery #83 Arthur F. Brocker, 73, of 2015 Railroad St., New Holstein, died suddenly at his home Wednesday evening. Death was attributed to a heart ailment. He was born in the Town of Eaton, May 26, 1889, the son of Charles and Elizabeth Brocker, and was married to Helen Nottling of the Town of Rhine at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, on June 24, 1919. They operated a farm in the Town of Schleswig until 1936 when they moved to Kiel were Mr. Brocker was employed at the Kiel Wooden Ware Co. In 1954 they moved to New Holstein. Mr. Brocker was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein. Surviving are his wife; a son, Archie, Kiel, five daughters, Mrs. William (Valeria) Mulholland, Butler, Wis., Miss Mae Brocker, New Holstein, and Mrs. Shirley Wise, Mrs. Donald (Audrey) Mirsberger, and Mrs. Leon (Helen) Kogler, all of Sheboygan; a brother, Fred Brocker, Kiel; two sisters, Mrs. George Bosma, R. 1, Kiel, and Mrs. Herman Sievert, Kiel, and 15 grandchildren. BERTHA BROCKER cemetery #20 A combined funeral service for Miss Bertha Brocker, 80, of Route 4, Chilton, who died Saturday, and her brother-in-law, William Koepp, who died last Thursday, was held Monday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home. Reverend John F. Baumann of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ officiated. Miss Brocker was born in the Town of Eaton, a daughter of the late Paul and Christina Brocker. She made her home with her sister, Mrs. William Koepp. Her sister survives. Burial was in the Eaton Cemetery.


CHARLES BROCKER cemetery #20 Carl Brocker, aged 87, passed away at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Sievert, at 4:45 p. m. on Wednesday, March 10, after a short illness. Mr. Brocker was born November 23, 1855, in Manitowoc, the son of John and Wiihelmina Brocker. At an early age he moved with his parents to a farm in the towtn of Eaton, and on October 20, 1876, he took as his bride Miss Elizabeth Lechler of that township. Following their marriage, the couple resided on a farm near Chilton for a number of years and later lived in the towns of Eaton and Schleswig. In 1920 he disposed of his farm to his son, Arthur, and moved to this city, where his wife died May 15, 1929. Mr. Brocker is survived by seven children, namely: Mrs. Edward (Christina) Boeselager, Mrs. Martha Boeselager, Arthur Brocker, and Mrs. Herman (Edna) Sievert of here; Mrs. Louis (Alvina) Haese of Reedsville; Mrs. George (Frieda) Bosma and Fred Brocker of the town of Eaton; 22 grand-children, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Mrs. Bertha Preuss of Hilbert and Mrs. Emma Brocker of Norfolk, Nebraska. A daughter, Mrs. Mary Schroeder, and a son, Edwin, preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock with the Rev. E. L. Worthman officating. Burial was made in the Town Eaton cemetery.


CHRISTINA BROCKER cemetery #20 Funeral services for the late Mrs. Paul Brocker, of the town of Eaton were held Saturday afternoon, officiated by Rev. Wm. Shclei of Collins. Burial was made in the Eaton cemetery. Mrs. Broker, nee Tena Kurz, was born in Germany on January 8, 1866, and was brought to the United States with her parents at the age of 8 years. The family settled in the town of Chilton. At the age of 19 years she married Mr. Brocker. They have been residents of the town of Eaton for 41 years. Several weeks ago Mrs. Broker was taken ill with pneumonia from which she never recovered. Heart failure was the immediate cause of her death, which occurred last Wednesday evening at 10 o’clock. The survivors are her husband; five children, Mrs. Andrew Zeiner of Meggers, Mrs. Ed Sievert of Schleswig, Mrs. Wm. EDWIN BROCKER cemetery #20 Edwin Broecker(sic), son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Broecker, St. Paul st., passed away on Monday morning at 2 o'clock at the home of his parents, after being ill with pneumonia. Deceased was born Feb. 22, 1892 in the town of Eaton, Manitowoc county. He was raised and reared on his father's farm. For some time he followed the mason trade. After that he worked for his brother, Arthur, on the farm. Last November he came to Kiel to live with his parents. He was in poor health all winter. Mr. Broecker leaves to mourn his untimely death, his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Broecker, two brothers, Frederick of Eaton and Arthur of Meggers, and six sisters, Mrs. Rud. Schroeder of New Holstein, Mrs. Ed. Boeselager of Kiel, Mrs. Louis Hasee of Reedsville, Mrs. August Boeselager of Kohler, Mrs. George Bosma of Eaton, and Mrs. Herman Sievert of Schleswig. The funeral will take place Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence of the parents. Burial at the Union cemetery in the town of Eaton. Rev. ELIZABETH BROCKER cemetery #20 Funeral services for Mrs. Carl Brocker, who died as a result of heart trouble at her home in this city Wednesday morning of last week, were held from the home at 2 o'clock and from the Reformed church on Saturday afternoon at 2:30. Burial was made in the Eaton cemetery, with the Rev. Otto Saewert conducting the rites. Mrs. Brocker, nee Elizabeth Lechler, was born January 19, 1856 in Manitowoc, and was married to Carl Brocker on October 20, 1876. The couple then moved to Chilton, then to Eaton, and in 1921 came to this city. Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her death the following children: Mrs. Rudolph Schroeder of New Holstein; Mrs. E. Boeselager of Kiel, Mrs. Louis Haese of Reedsville, Mrs. George Bosma of Eaton, Mrs. Herman Sievert of Schleswig; and Fred and Arthur Brocker. One son Edwin passed away in 1925. Two brothers, Ferdinand and Christian Lechler of near Kiel, one sister, Mrs. Emilia Westphal, 20 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren also survive. He was born September 3, 1915, in the Town of Eaton, Manitowoc County, the son of Mrs. Ida Ninmer Brocker and the late George Brocker. On January 22, 1938, he married the former LaVerne Schmitz at Chilton. After marriage, the couple farmed in Eaton until 1957. He was employed by Sperber and Krueger Logging of rural Kiel from 1967 to 1972 and at the present time was an employee of the Salvatorian Center, New Holstein. FRANK W. BROCKER cemetery #82 Frank W. Brocker, 69, of 722 St. Paul St., Kiel, died Tuesday evening at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since Sunday. Born Nov. 14, 1889, in Chilton, the son of Bernard and Louise Ibe Brocker, he attended school at Gravesville and in September of 1917 he entered military service and served 18 months overseas with the 371st Motor Transport Corps. He received his discharge in July, 1919. On April 22, 1920, he was married to Irene Nurnberger of Chilton. He worked as a carpenter for a time and in June, 1921, he became a rural mail carrier at Chilton. In January, 1935, he was transferred to Kiel, where he remained a carrier until his retirement in 1954. He was a member of St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed Church at Kiel; a past commander of Kasper-Wilkins-Beckley Post No. 99, American Legion and Tri- County VFW Post. He was also a member of the Redmen Lodge and the 24-Hour Club of the lodge, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Chilton branch. He also served as past president of the Rural Letter Carriers’ Association. Survivors are his wife; one son, Dean, of Plymouth; two granddaughters, and one sister, Mrs. Lena Pingel of Chilton. One son died in infancy and two brothers, one of them a twin brother, and a sister also preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed Church with the Rev. Vernon E. Jaberg officiating. Burial will be in the Kiel Cemetery. FRIEDERICK BROCKER cemetery #20 Frederick C. Brocker, 82, of 903 6th St., Kiel, died at 4:30 a.m. today at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Milton C. Brocker, R. 1, New Holstein. He had been making his home there since his illness three weeks ago. Born Sept. 21, 1881, in the Town of Chilton, the son of the late Charles and Elisabeth Brocker, the family later moved to the Town of Eaton. He was married Oct. 14, 1904, to Ida Bosma of the Town of Eaton. They operated a farm in that township for 39 years before retiring in 1943 and moving to Kiel. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary in October, 1945. Mrs. Brocker died in May, 1956. Mr. Brocker was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Kiel. Besides his son, Milton, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Alfon Rabe of R. 1, Kiel, and Mrs. Lorena Ruh of Valders; 15 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. George Bosma of R. 1, Kiel, and Mrs. Herman Sievert of Kiel. GEORGE BROCKER cemetery #85 George F. Brocker, 77, a R. 1, Kiel farmer, died Thursday night at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, where he had been a patient three weeks. Born Sept. 19, 1889, in the Town of Eaton, he was a son of the late Paul and Christine Kurtz Brocker. He attended the district school. On Sept. 19, 1911, he married the former Ida Ninmer of the Town of Schleswig at Kiel. The couple farmed in the Town of Eaton their entire married life. Survivors include his wife; one son, Elmer, on the home farm; three grand- children; six great grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Alma Siebert of rural Kiel and Mrs. William Koepp and Miss Bertha Brocker, both of Gravesville. HELEN E. BROCKER cemetery #83 Mrs. Helen Brocker, 76, widow of Arthur F., of 2015 Railroad St., New Holstein, died early today in Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, where she was a patient for two weeks. The former Helen Nottling was born Nov. 7, 1894 in the Town of Rhine, daughter of the late Bernard and Elizabeth Schaefer Nottling. She attended district school there and the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Kiel. On June 24, 1914 she was married to Mr. Brocker of the Town of Schleswig (Manitowoc County) in Ss. Peter and Paul Church. They farmed in Schleswig until moving to Kiel in 1936. Fort he past 16 years, Mrs. Brocker had lived in New Holstein. Mr. Brocker died in January, 1963. Mrs. Brocker was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. William (Valeria) Mulholland, of Butler, Miss Mae Brocker, New Holstein and Mrs. Shirley Wise, Mrs. Donald (Audrey) Mersberger, and Mrs. Leon (Helen) Kogler, all of Sheboygan; a son, Archie, Kiel, 16 grandchildren and one great- grandchild; two brothers, Henry, New Holstein, and John, Sheboygan and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Walker, Greeley, Colo., and Mrs. Richard Krutzik, R. 1, Elkhart Lake. IDA BROCKER cemetery #20 Mrs. Fred Brocker, 69, of 903 6th St., Kiel died at 11:45 p.m. Saturday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Alfon Rabe of R. 1, Kiel. Nee Ida Bosma, she was born in the town of Eaton on March 29, 1887 a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sent Bosma. She was married to Mr. Brocker Oct. 14, 1904 and lived on a farm in the town of Eaton until 1943 when the couple retired and moved to Kiel. She was a charter member of the Eaton Ladies Aid Society and a member of the Women’s Guild of St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed Church of Kiel and of the Kiel Frauenverein. Mr. and Mrs. Brocker celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in October of 1954. Survivors include her husband, a son Milton of New Holstein, two daughters, Mrs. Alfon (Oliva) Rabe of R. 1, Kiel and Mrs. Jacob (Lorena) Ruh of rural Manitowoc, 14 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three brothers, Alfred Bosma of New Holstein, George of R. 1, Kiel and Harry of R. 2, Sheboygan, and two sisters, Mrs. John Spettel of Kiel and Mrs. Edwin Pohl of Sheboygan Falls. IRENE BROCKER cemetery #82 Mrs. Irene Brocker, 78, of 722 St. Paul Street, Kiel, widow of Frank W., died Monday at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, where she had been a patient since April 28. She was born October 29, 1898, in the Town of Plymouth, a daughter of the late August and Henrietta Blanke Nurnberger. She graduated from Plymouth High School and attended a secretarial school in Appleton. On April 22, 1920 she was married to Mr. Brocker at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Chilton. The couple lived in Chilton where Mr. Brocker was a rural mail carrier until 1939, when he was transferred to Kiel. Mr. Brocker died July 23, 1959. Mrs. Brocker was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel, and the Woman’s Guild of the church. She also was a member of the Kiel Frauen Verein, the VFW Auxiliary, the GUG Germania Society, the Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary and an active member of the Kiel Senior Citizens. LAVERNE R. BROCKER cemetery #21 LaVerne R. Brocker age 86, formerly of rural Kiel, died on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Chilton Care Center in Chilton. She was born Dec. 24, 1918 in New Holstein, daughter of the late Joseph and Emma (Wick) Schmitz. She attended St. Anna Catholic School and Kiel High School. LaVerne married Elmer Brocker on Jan. 22, 1938 in Chilton. He preceded her in death in 1973. She was ahomemaker and was employed at Leverenz Shoe Company in Valders for 27 years. LaVerne was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz. LaVerne was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and since her retirement, she enjoyed watching and feeding her outdoor birds, painting landscapes, decorating gourds, watching her daily "soap", doing crossword puzzles and visiting with her friends and neighbors. Survivors include her children, 10 granchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, a sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law. LaVerne is further survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends. She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Eleanor, Julie, Valeria, Emily and Irene; and four brothers, Leo, Lee, Jerome, and infant brother, Ervin. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, at St. Gregory Catholic Church, 212 Church St. in St. Nazianz with the Rev. Gregory Coulthard officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday when services will be held. A memorial fund has been established in the name of LaVerne R. MILTON C. BROCKER cemetery #20 Milton C. Brocker, 93, of 2000 Taft St., New Holstein, died Wednesday evening, January 6, 1999, at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center where he was a patient for one day. He was born March 17, 1905, in the Town of Eaton, a son of the late Frederick and Ida Bosma Brocker. He attended Elder Grove School and Chicago Engineer Works. On June 26, 1930, he married Christina Rosenbauer in the Town of Schleswig. She preceded him in death on January 16, 1977. On June 3, 1978, he married Gertrude “Trudy” Muenster Genal. He worked for a number of years at the Manitowoc Shipyards. Prior to his retirement in 1976, he owned and operated Brocker Electric, Kiel, for many years. PAUL BROCKER cemetery #20 Paul Brocker of Gravesville Passes Away After Illness Chilton – Paul Brocker, aged 76, retired farmer, died at 9 a.m. Friday at his home at Gravesville, after having been ill for a week. Mr. Brocker was born at Eaton, in Manitowoc county and was married there to Christina Kurtz, who died May 25, 1927. Mr. Brocker was a farmer in Manitowoc county practically all his life. Seven years ago he returned and moved to Gravesville. Survivors are: A son, George, Town of Eaton, Manitowoc county; four daughters, Bertha, at home; Mrs. Andrew Zeiner and Mrs. Edmund Seivert, both of Town Schleswig and Mrs. William Koepp of Charlestown, Calumet county; two brothers, Ewald of Chilton and Charles of Kiel; two sisters, Mrs. Rudolph Pruess, New Holstein and Mrs. Louis Broker, Norfolk, Neb., and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Erbe-Hoffmann Funeral Home at Chilton. The Rev. Edmund L.
