She was one of the oldest residents of this town and had come to America with her husband and 5 oldest children in 1849. Her husband died several years ago. The funeral took place on the following Sun. afternoon.

She lived in Two Rivers since 1915. Her husband preceded her in death in 1928 at age of 84. Six daughters and two sons survive. They are: Mrs. Rose Niquette, Mrs. Lucy Dupras, and John Barbank of Two Rivers, _______ and Josephine Brabank of Milwaukee, Valeria Brabank and Mrs. Lafred Jacquminn of Montreal, Canada; and Mrs. Clarence Larson of Chicago. Twenty grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren also survive. The body may be viewed at the Klein & Stangel, Inc. Funeral Home, Two Rivers, where funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow. Services will be held from St. Luke's Catholic church at 9 a.m. with the Rev. C.V. Hugo officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Zlatnik **************** Obituary From the Manitowoc Herald Times, Sunday, Jan. 20, 1948, Page: 2, Column: 4 BRABANT Mrs. William Brabant, 51, who since the death of her husband has been living with a sister, Mrs. John Hermans, 1602 East St., Two Rivers, died Saturday night at the Two Rivers Municipal hospital. She had been ill for a year. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Lukes church, Two Rivers, with interment in Holy Cross cemetery. They body may be viewed at the Buduhn funeral home, Two Rivers, where the rosary will be recited at 7:45 tonight. Born Cora La Fond in 1894 in Two Rivers, the deceased was a duaghter of the late Alfred and Lydie Allie La Fond. Her first husband, George Rudolph, died in 1923, and she lated married Ira Dickenson. In 1936 she married William Brabant in Sheboygan. They made their home in that city until Mr. Brabant's death in October, 1944. Shortly afterward she moved to Two Rivers to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. Hermans. She was a member of the auxiliary of the Sheboygan Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mrs. Brabant is survived by one son, Gordon Dickenson, seaman, first class, stationed with a naval unit on Guam. There is a brother, Adolph La Fond of Oshkosh, and three sisters, Mrs. Clarence Cope and Mrs. John Hermans, both of Two Rivers, and Mrs. Joseph Morancy of Sheboygan.

ANNA BRANDL Cemetery #6 Manitowoc Herald Times- September 4, 1962 edition BRANDL Mrs. Anna Brandl, 77, a resident of Whitelaw, died Tuesday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where she was a patient for six weeks. Funeral services will be at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw, the Rev. Francis Rose officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clarks Mills. Mrs. Brandl was born Anna Braun July 3, 1885 in the Town of Liberty, daughter of the late Peter and Barbara Braun. She was married in Manitowoc County May 9, 1910 to George Brandl. The couple owned and operated a farm in the Town of Cato until 13 years ago when she moved to Whitelaw. Her husband preceded her in death in 1950. She was an honorary member of Christian Mothers Altar Society of St. Michael parish. She was the last surviving member of her family. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Anton Mrozinski, Mrs. Arthur Eisenschink, Mrs. Leo Zimmer, Mrs. Hugh Williams and Mrs. Hubert Willis of Manitowoc; five sons, Mark, Arnold and Isadore of Manitowoc, Harold of Rt 1 Cato, and Lambert of Green Bay. 33 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. A son George, three brothers and a sister preceded her in death. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home when the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. by the parish. Mrs. Brandt headed a family of four generations. She will be buried at Clark Mills Monday morning following a requiem mass to be said by the Rev. F.X. Kheil at the St. Mary's church at 9:30 o'clock. Mrs. Brandt, nee Staudinger, was born in Germany July 6, 1857, and came to this country when a girl. JOHN BRANDT cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 26 May 1898: Death Tues. morning here of John Brandt, Sr. at age 68. The deceased was born in Vorpommern, Germany, came to America in 1855, and resided the last 33 years in Manitowoc. Though he suffered a long time with a heart condition he was never bedridden. Tuesday morning he went to the stall to feed the cow and while engaged in his chores was stricken with an attack and fell to the ground. He is survived by his widow and two sons, John and William. The funeral will take place this afternoon from the funeral parlor on 14th street.

George Kiefer, pastor was celebrant of the 9:30 a.m. requiem Mass at Ss. Peter and Paul Cahtolic Church, Kiel, preceded by rites at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, at 9 a.m. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Born May 31, 1892, at St. Anna, she was a daughter of the late Alvis and Katherine Ehlenbeck Brandt. She attended St. Anna Catholic School and later made her home with a brother- in-law and sister, the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Escher in the Town of New Holstien. In 1954 she moved to Kiel, where she was employed at A. A. Laun Furniture, New Holstein, retiring 12 years ago. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Parish, its Christian Mothers Society, the GUG Germania Society of Kiel. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Anna Wiskerchen of Chilton, and three brothers, Peter and Alvis Brandt, of St. Anna and Henry Klapperich of New Holstein. They celebrated 52 years together. She enjoyed working at the voting polls, sewing, baby-sitting, gardening and making people happy. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Arthur H. Wille will officiate with cremation to follow and burial will be Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Brandt was born Oct. 31, 1906, at Manitowoc, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Brandt. He was educated at Manitowoc. He married Julia A. Panosh June 15, 1931, at Waukegan, Ill. Mr. Brandt was employed by Brandt Printing and Bindery Company and Manitowoc Shipbuilding until 1944, when the couple moved to Milwaukee. Mrs. Brandt preceded him in death April 18, 1971. WILLIAM BRANDT cemetery #44 Manitowoc Herald-Times, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Monday, July 13, 1936 BRANDT RITES HELD IN CITY Funeral services for William F. Brandt, head of the printing firm which bears his name and prominent in early day newspaper history in Manitowoc, took place this afternoon from the Frazier mortuary. Services were in charge of Chickerming lodge of Odd Fellows, of which Mr. Brandt was a member for years. The chaplain of the lodge, officiated at services at the mortuary and also at the grave with members of the lodge acting as pallbearers. In recognition of the military life of Mr. Brandt, who served at one time as captain of Company H before the Spanish-American war, a firing squad from Company E fired a salute at the grave. Taps was blown by William Wegner. Interment was at Evergreen cemetery.

WILLIAM BRANDT cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 29 Aug. 1889: Willie, the 6 yr. son of Mr. W. Brandt, one of the editor's of the "Manitowoc Post", drowned on Mon. evening. The boy had gone with his two brothers down to the river to catch some crabs in the vicinity of Schumacher's Icehouse. The three got into a boat there and began playing as children will. Willie decided to jump in the water to see how deep the river was there. He took off his clothes and jumped overboard, holding onto the edge of the boat. For some reason he lost his hold and sank out of the sight of his brothers. Help was quickly called and a search begun. After 15 mins., the body of the child was found and taken to the home of his grandparents.

ANNA BRATZ cemetery #81 Mrs. F. Bratz Called to Rest Mrs. Frank Bratz, aged 68, died at her home in the town of Schleswig on Monday of heart disease. Funeral services were held this Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the C. J. Meiselwitz Funeral Home, and at 2 o’clock at the Bethlehem Evangelical and Reformed church in Schleswig, with the Rev. A. H. Hammann officiating. Interment was made in the adjoining church cemetery. The deceased was born in the town of Schleswig, daughter of Ernst and Fredericka Voss, and was married to Mr. Bratz December 10, 1890. The couple lived on an Eaton farm for 18 years and 31 years ago moved to their present homestead. Survivors are her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Ernst Westphalen of the town of Eaton, a son, Arthur at home; a grandchild; five sisters, Mrs. William Jochimsen of New Holstein, Mrs. Edward Lueloff of Withee, Mrs. Otto Karstaedt of the town of Sheboygan, Mrs. William Ninmer of the town of New Holstein, and Mrs. William Schnell of the town of Schleswig. Three sisters preceded her in death. - 1938

FRANK BRATZ cemetery #81 Rites Held Wednesday for Frank Bratz Funeral services were held from the Bethlehem E and R church Wednesday afternoon for Frank Bratz, 93, who died at his home Sunday afternoon. The services were conducted by the Rev. Carl Fried, pastor of the church. Burial was made in the parish cemetery. Mr. Bratz was born in Germany January 11, 1864 and came to this country when he was five years old. The family lived in Manitowoc county. He was married to Miss Emma Voss and they resided on a farm in Eaton for few years, moving to the present Bratz place in Schleswig 51 years ago. Mr. Bratz’s only survivors are his son Arthur, and a grandson, Kenneth. His wife died in December, 1933, and a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Westphalen and seven brothers also preceded him in death. September 26, 1957

HILDA BRATZ cemetery #81 Hilda, the 11 years old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Bratz, residing near St Nazianz, died at the Sheboygan hospital on Tuesday, of pernicious anaemia, after six months illness. Several blood transfusions were performed in an effort to save the girl’s life, but without much benefit. The funeral will be held on Saturday afternoon at 1:30, from the home. Rev. 0. Saewert, officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. - 1922

OTTO R. BRATZ cemetery #33 Otto R. Bratz, age 86, of Manitowoc, died Wednesday morning, March 24, 1999, at North Ridge Medical & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 1999, at Rockwood Lutheran Church, in Rockwood. Officiating at the service will be Rev. John Hildebrandt, with burial to follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, town of Kossuth. Otto was born April 6, 1912, in the town of Cato, son of the late Frederic and Mary Karrow Bratz. On December 22, 1937, he married the former Ilene McMunn. Otto was employed at Formrite Tube, Two Rivers, formerly known as Hydro-Tool, until his retirement in 1982. Survivors include his wife, Ilene; two daughters and sons-in-law; one son and daughter-in-law; 13 grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Otto was also preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. The Family will greet relativesand friends, Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Klein & Stangel Funeral Home and Saturday morning at Rockwood Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The deceased, who came to America from Germany in 1847, had lived here for many years, but spent last year in the Milwaukee area. In addition to his brother, the well-known shipbuilder Henry B. Burger, Sr., he is survived by 3 sons – Geo. B. Burger and Henry Burger, Jr., here, and Christ. Burger in Milwaukee, as well as 4 daughters –Mrs. Jacobson and Mrs. H. Hartmann here, and Mrs. Moose and Mrs. Kochwert in New York. A sister, Mrs. Wolfe of Seattle, Washington, was here on a visit. His wife preceded him in death 15 yrs. ago. The casket was brought here and laid to rest in the city cemetery on Mon. afternoon.

BARBARA BRAUN cemetery #7 FUNERAL OF MRS BRAUN TO BE SATURDAY Funeral Services for Mrs. Peter Braun, pioneer resident of the county who died Wednesday at the home of her son, John in the town of Franklin, will be held from St. Michael's church, Whitelaw, Saturday morning at 9:30 the Rev. Pufahl officiating. Mrs. Braun was 84 years of age and is survived by five children. Peter of Brillion, Frank, Louis and Mrs. George Brandel, Cato and John of Whitelaw. Two children, Mrs. George Wellner of Whitelaw and Anton of Brillion preceded her in death. Fifty two grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren also survive. FRANK P. BRAUN cemetery #7 BRAUN Frank P Braun, 78, died Friday night at the farm home in Cato, near Whitelaw, following a stroke. Funeral rites will be held at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at the Braun home and at 9:30 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Whitelaw, the Rev. John Husslein officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He was born in Liberty in 1870 and later the family located in Cato. In 1897, he married Miss Margaret Grall. She died two years ago. Mr. Braun served as a school district director in Cato for 15 years and was a member of the Holy Name society. Survivors are six daughters, Mrs. Henry P Schuh of Cato, Mrs. Margaret Zeman of Sheboygan, Mrs. Querin Swetlik of Whitelaw, Mrs. Arthur Zimmer of Two Rivers, Mrs. Elmer Neuser of route 4, Manitowoc, Mrs. Paul Pakenham of Chicago; four sons, John and Joseph of Cato, Edward of route 2, Two Rivers and Frank of route 2, Manitowoc; two brothers, Louis and John of Whitelaw; sister, Mrs. George Brandl of Cato; 39 grandchildren and a great grandchild. JOHN BRAUN cemetery #7 (sent in by researcher/see contributors page) JOHN BRAUN, SR., DIES IN CHURCH - Manitowoc Herald Times - December 28, 1954 edition WHITELAW John Braun Sr., 80, of Whitelaw, lifelong resident of the county, was stricken with a heart attack Tuesday morning, in the vestibule of St. Michael Catholic Church while about to attend 8 a.m. Mass and died before he could be moved to a hospital. Braun, who in recent years resided with a son, Peter, on a farm on the outskirts of the village, had assisted in the morning chores and after breakfast left for church. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the Reedsville Funeral Home and at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Michael Church. The Rev. John Husslein will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. He was born in Liberty in 1874 and in 1904 married Miss Magdalena Gerl. They located on a farm in Franklin. His wife died in 1921. In 1937 he moved to Whitelaw. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and a leader in the Miraculous Medal Assoc. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. John Winkler of Sheboygan, Mrs. John Palmer of Milwaukee, Mrs. Anton Zych of Manitowoc, Mrs. Clarence Fischer and Mrs. Frank Spacek of Rt 4 Manitowoc, and Mrs. Harold Staudinger of Rt 2, Reedsville; two sons, Peter and John Jr., of Whitelaw; 20 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Wednesday where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

LOUIS BRAUN cemetery #7 Obituary - Manitowoc Herald Times - April 11, 1951 edition BRAUN - Louis Braun, 28 (age should be 78) died Tuesday night on the farm of Mr. and Mrs. Henry P. Schuh, town of Cato, where he made his home. Mr Braun was born in 1872 in the town of Liberty. He never married. Survivors are a sister, Mrs. George Brandl and a brother, John, both of Whitelaw. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, April 13 at the Schuh farm home and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic church, Whitelaw, Rev. John Husslein officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Schuh home from 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, until the time of services. WILHELMINE BRAUN cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 20 Aug. 1908: As Mrs. Wilhelmine Braun, who lives with her son Frank Braun in Town Newton, was feeding her chickens yesterday morning she sank to the ground with a heart attack and died a few minutes later after she had been carried into the house. Mrs. Braun, who was 76, gave no inkling of an attack because she felt quite well up until it struck. She is survived by two sons, the above referred to Frank, and also William Braun living in California. Her husband preceded her in death 10 years ago. Her funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon from the local German Methodist Church.

The deceased was the mother of Mrs. Rika Colby and Mrs. Rosalia Senftenberg and mother-in-law of Mr. G. W. Colby and Mr. Isidore Senftenberg. The burial took place yesterday afternoon.

ANNA BRAUNREITER cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 10 Dec. 1908: Consumption took the life Saturday, after many months of illness, of 29-year old Mrs. Frank Braunreiter, a resident of North 22nd Street. Especially grievous is the fact that 2 of the deceased’s children were suffering from smallpox at the same time. It is of the mildest strain but there is concern when it is overlaid with sadness over their mother’s death. Because they were under quarantine, only a closed funeral could be held with just the immediate next of kin permitted to attend. [cause: tuberculosis]

ESTELLA BRECKENRIDGE cemetery #43 From Der Nord Westen, 19 Sep. 1907: After a long period of pain, Miss Estella Breckinridge died Tuesday in the hospital here following an operation which had been undertaken to ease her suffering. She was just 17. Her funeral will be held tomorrow morning from St. Boniface Church.

BARBARA BREDL cemetery #7 From Der Nord Westen, 22 Mar. 1900: Death in Whitelaw on Fri. of Mrs. Barbara Bredl of old age. Mrs. Bredl was born in Austria in 1808, thus reaching the age of 92 years. She came to America in 1857 with her husband who died eight years ago. The family settled near Whitelaw where she has lived until just the last few years during which she has been living with the family of her son Franz Bredl. She leaves 2 sons and 4 daughters as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even one great-great-grandchild. Her funeral was held Mon. morning at the Catholic Cemetery in Whitelaw.

BARBARA BREIDER cemetery #63 From Der Nord Westen, 07 Oct. 1909: (From the correspondent in Mishicott, 05 Oct.) Death last Wednesday evening of 88-year old Mrs. Breider in the home of her son John. The elderly lady, who was sick only one day, is survived by her sorrowing husband, as well as several children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The funeral was held Saturday from the Catholic Church with a long funeral procession to the cemetery. ********** From Der Nord Westen, 07 Oct. 1909: Death Thursday last week, after an illness of only a few hours, of Mrs. John Breider, Sr., in the home of her son John Breider, Jr., in Eastwin. The deceased was born 17 February 1822 in Torea, Germany. In addition to her sorrowing husband she is survived by 3 children and several grandchildren. The funeral was held in the Catholic cemetery in Mishicott.

BARTH BREIDER cemetery #89B From Der Nord Westen, 21 Feb. 1895: Death in Two Rivers on Thurs. of last week, of Barth. Breider, one of the oldest settlers of Town Mishicott. The deceased, who moved to Two Rivers a few years ago, was buried Sun. in the Two Rivers Catholic Cemetery.

MARY BREIDER cemetery #63 From Der Nord Westen, 15 Dec. 1904: (From the correspondent in Mishicott, 13 Dec.) Also, Mrs. P. Breider was taken by death on Mon. Her death was a relief from the many years of illness with consumption. Mrs. Breider was a true wife and mother and was well regarded by everyone. The funeral was held Thurs. in the cemetery of the local Catholic Church under the direction of Father St. Louis.

ESTHER BREMER cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 20 June 1907: Dropsy took the life Friday of 15-year old Esther Bremer, a daughter of Valders resident Henry Bremer. The body was brought here and buried Monday from the Lutheran Church.

LOUISA BREMER cemetery #70 From Der Nord Westen, 19 Aug. 1909: Death Saturday in Manitowoc Rapids of 77–year old Mrs. Louisa Brenner(sic) from old age debility. The deceased, who had come here as a child, is survived by several children. The funeral was held Tuesday from the Lutheran Church in Newton. (Note: I believe the newspaper had the surname wrong.)

MARIA BREMER cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 20 Feb. 1902: After an illness of about 5 wks., Mrs. Maria Bremer died Fri. of bronchitis with which she also had heart trouble. The deceased was born 75 yrs. ago in Mecklenburg and came to Manitowoc County with her husband in 1852. The couple took over a farm in Town Manitowoc Rapids, but following the death of her husband Mrs. Bremer moved in with her sister here, where she died. She is survived by 5 children.

WILHELM BREMER cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 05 Dec. 1895: After a long illness, Mr. Wilhelm Bremer died on his farm in Town Cato on 22 Nov. of a tumor. The deceased was born 26 Feb. 1823 in Malchow, Mecklenburg-Schwerin. In 1850 he married his wife, who survives, and they came to America in 1853 settling in Town Newton where they have lived for 38 yrs. In addition to his wife he leaves 3 sons and 3 daughters. WILLIAM BREMER cemetery #70 From Der Nord Westen, 13 June 1895: Death Tues. morning in Town Manitowoc of Wilhelm Bremer. While his son was plowing, the horses became fractious and Mr. Bremer went to help but was thrown down by the horses and broke his neck. The 61 yr. old man leaves a widow and 6 grown children. Burial was this morning in the Town Newton cemetery.

BERNARD BRENNAN cemetery #44 Manitowoc Herald Times, May 23, 1945, PAGE: 2, COLUMN: 3 BRENNAN, HEAD OF VALDERS FIRM, IS DEAD AT 73 Barney Brennan, 73, president and treasurer of the Valders Lime and Stone Company of Valders and one of the founder of the company, died Tuesday at St. Michael's hospital, Milwaukee, where he had been a patient for a week. Mr. Brennan had been active for years in the business and public life at Valders, formerly serving as bank president and also was on the village board for years. He was active until less than two weeks ago, when taken ill. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the Berge funeral home, Valders, and at 10 o'clock at the St. Mary's Catholic church, Clarks Mills. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in this city. Mr. Brennan was born in Eaton in 1871, where he spent his early life, and then moved to Hayton where he attended school. He also went to high school in Chilton and after leaving school was employed by the Western Lime and Cement company. He married Miss Margaret Wier of Kinderhook, Ill., 51 years ago. He continued as superintendent of the lime company's plant at Hayton until 1904 when he was transferred to Ormsby, Wis., where he was in charge of a lumbermill, store and post office for the Western Lime and Cement Company. In 1907, Mr. Brennan moved to Valders to organize the Valders Lime and Stone company with the late T. G. Larson, Dr. T.J. O'Brien and Frank Einberger. Under Mr. Brennan's direction the company has enjoyed an expanding growth. He also took an active interest in village affairs and was chosen a village trustee serving for years on the Valders village board. He was one of the organizers and for years president of the Valders State bank and also operated a farm near Valders and one near Antigo. Mrs. Brennan died in 1938. Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Henry Grim of Green Bay, Mrs. Harry Maethe of Mosinee(?), Mrs. William Curran of Antigo, Mrs. Herbert Peterson of Valders; three sons, Harold and Owen of Valders, Raymond of Waupaca; and 25 grandchildren. The body may viewed at the Berge funeral home, Valders, from this evening until the hour of service.

Mr. Brennan was 70 years of age, having been born in Cato February 10, 1855, where he spent most of his life on a farm. He served as supervisor of the town for three years and for fifteen years was a school clerk. Later he was a government mail carrier at Cato and served in other official positions. He was married to Catherine Quirk in 1883 and besides his widow is survived by five children, Mrs. Thomas Doyle of Cato; Mrs. Peter Faivey of Maple Grove; Lovell and William of Cato, and Thomas E. of Texas. A sister, Mrs. Cunningham, of Fond du Lac and a brother, Michael, of Filett, also survive and there are eight grandchildren.

He had been a patient of the Sheboygan hospital for three weeks. Kersten, pastor of St. Wendell's Catholic church and a personal friend of Mr. Brennan, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Leschke Funeral Home from Sunday noon until the hour of the funeral on Tuesday. Mr. Brennan was born in Manitowoc county on March 29th, 1879, and he married Hermina Schott on June 21, 1904. The couple would have celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary next Wednesday. Mr. Brennan, an active Democrat, was elected sheriff in 1919 and he served one term. Prior to 1919 he was chairman of the Manitowoc county board. He was a member of the Eagles lodge. He had been employed as salesman for the Monarch Liquor Co. FRIEDA BRENNER cemetery #53 From Der Nord Westen, 08 Oct. 1903: Death Wed. evening last week in Reedsville of Mrs. Theodor Brenner as a result of childbed fever. Mrs. Brenner was just 34 yrs. old. She leaves her husband with 2 children. The funeral was Sunday.

MICHAEL BREU cemetery #21 St. Nazianz Funeral services for Michael Breu, who died at his home in Sheboygan last Friday of an attack of paralysis, were held here Monday morning, solemn requiem mass being read by three priests of St. Gregory's church. Interment was in the nearby church cemetery. The deceased was born in the town of Manitowoc Rapids Oct. 19, 1858, but his home had been St. Nazianz until six years ago, when he moved to Sheboygan to be employed at the Northern Furniture Co. He was married in 1888 to Miss Francis Zipperer, who survives him. Besides his wife, he is mourned by the following: Brothers - George of Auburndale, and Joseph of Marshfield; sisters - Theresa (Mrs. Math. Kautzer) Madison; sons - Theodore of Kohler, and Winrich of Sheboygan; daughters - Ida (Mrs. W.W. Birkle), Sheboygan, Anna (Mrs. W. Gutman) Sumatra, Mont., Laura (Mrs. Patrick Brennan) North Fond du Lac, and Cinderalla (Mrs. Olive Brennan) Valders. Death on 21 Dec. of widow Theresia Brei of old age debility at the home of her daughter in Marshfield where she had been staying recently. She was one of the first settlers here. HELENA BREUER cemetery #43 From Der Nord Westen, 19 Apr. 1900: Death Tues. morning after a long illness of Mrs. Helena Breuer, widow of the late Hermann Breuer who passed away several months ago. Mrs. Breuer was born 09 Mar. 1842 in the Rhineland coming as a child with her parents to America and settling with them in St. Nazianz where she and her husband were married. The family later moved to Manitowoc. She leaves 6 children. The funeral will be held early tomorrow morning at the Catholic Cemetery.

HERMAN BREUER cemetery #43 From Der Nord Westen, 21 Dec. 1899: Death Fri. morning of Hermann Breuer of pneumonia. He had a severe chill on Thanksgiving Day which shortly led to the pneumonia and then to his death despite medical attention. Mr. Breuer was born 29 Oct. 1829 in the Rhineland and came to America in 1862 settling in St. Nazianz. In 1866 he moved here to Manitowoc and worked as a veterinarian. He leaves his sorrowing widow and 6 grown children. His funeral was held Tues. afternoon at the Catholic Cemetery here.

LOUISE BREUER cemetery #44 Louise S. Breuer, age 98, of 814 N. 12th St., Manitowoc, died Saturday evening, May 18, 1996, at St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 1996, at First Lutheran Church Chapel. Rev. Steven D. Olson will officiate with burial to follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. She was born Louise Schuette September 25, 1897, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Louis and Clara Schmidt Schuette. She attended Milwaukee Downer College and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1921 with a B.A. Degree in Economics. Louise was a memeber of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. She married Orval Breuer June 27, 1922, in Manitowoc, and he preceded her in death November 30, 1970. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and a 70 year member of P.E.O. Chapter of Manitowoc. Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, a sister, Martha Vinton, Manitowoc; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, John Schuette; a sister, Helen Ristad, and a grandson, John Breuer. The family will greet relatives and friends at First Lutheran Church Chapel from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of services at 11 a.m. Memorials would be appreciated to the First Lutheran Church, Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, or St. Mary's Home. DOROTHEA BREY cemetery #44 The Manitowoc Herald-News, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Friday, May 23, 1924 MRS. E. BREY, SR, PIONEER, DEAD TODAY AGED 76 Mrs. Edward Brey, Sr., pioneer resident of the city, having made her home here for more than fifty years, died at the family home on North Eight street at 10 o'clock this morning, aged 76. Mrs. Brey had been a sufferer from an incurable malady for a long time but became seriously ill only ten weeks ago, since which time it had been known that death was only a matter of time. During the past week Mrs. Brey's condition had been critical and death which came today, was a relief from pain suffering. Mrs. Brey was conscious and knew those about her up to the end, which was peaceful Mrs. Brey was born in Germany November 8, 1847 and since her arrival in America over fifty years ago had always made her home in this city. She was married to Mr. Brey fifty years ago September 20. Her husband with four children, Walter, Edward Jr., and Mrs. Fred Levenhagen, this city, and Mrs. Norman Markel, of Rochester, Minn., survive. One sister Mrs. Carl Engel, this city and seven grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Brey was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church and was active in the Lutheran Women's society up to the time that ill health attacked her. She was a woman whose life centered about her home and children and her life may be summed up with the tribute-good wife and mother. EDWARD BREY cemetery #44 The Manitowoc Herald-Times, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Saturday, June 12, 1943 Brey Edward Brey. Sr., 90, retired Manitowoc merchant and resident here for 70 years, died this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Levenhagen, 830 North Eight street. Funeral plans are indefinite awaiting arrival of a son, Walter Brey, from Chicago this afternoon, but will be held either Monday or Tuesday afternoon from the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran church. The Rev. Theophil Uetzmann, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. Mr. Brey was born in Germany in 1853 and came to Manitowoc in 1872. He worked in the northern lumber woods for a time and then took a position in the grist mill of Flueger and Wall. He remained with this firm nine years and then became a salesman for M. Kellner and Sons. In 1905 Mr. Brey engaged in the flour, feed and produce business on North Eight street. He was later joined in the business by his son, Edward, Jr., and the business expanded to the general grocery line and later moved to a new location at North Eight and Chicago streets. He retired from active business of heading the store in 1927 and the business was taken over by his son, Edward, Jr. who died in 1930. Mr. Brey married Miss Dorothea Schroeder 69 years ago. She died in 1924. Since retiring Mr. Brey has been making his home with his children. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Levenhagen of this city, Mrs. Norman Markle, of Rochester, Minn., son, Walter, of Chicago; five grandchildren and seven grandchildren. LOUIS BREY cemetery #7 From Der Nord Westen, 17 Apr. 1902: Louis Brey, a well-known resident of Branch, died of smallpox on Sun. immediately after his 30th birthday. He is the 3rd victim in our county during this year who has succumbed to the milder form of this dread disease. His body was buried Sun. night in the Whitelaw Cemetery. In addition to his widow and several children, Brey is survived by 8 sisters. (Note: According to statute, smallpox victims had to be buried at night)

IRENE M. BREZONI cemetery #32 OBITUARY, Herald Times Reporter, Manitowoc, WI 11 Apr 2005 Irene M. Brezoni, age 88, of 3917 S. 18th St. Manitowoc, died Saturday evening, April 9, 2005 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at the First Lutheran Church Chapel. The Rev. Steven Solberg will officiate with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum Chapel, State Highway 310, Manitowoc. The former Irene Free was born Oct. 5, 1916 in the town of Newton, daughter of the late William and Lillian Vetter Free. She attended school in the town of Newton and the town of Liberty. On Oct. 3, 1936, she was married to Frank J. Brezoni at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in the town of Liberty. Frank preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 1978. In the past Irene was employed for 33 years at the S.S. Kresge store in Manitowoc. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Manitowoc Senior Center. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: nieces, nephews other relatives and friends survive. Relatives and friends may call at the First Lutheran Church Chapel on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is serving the Brezoni family.
