FRANCES BRAASCH Miss Frances Marion Braasch, 31, died at her home, 908 South 20th street, at 1:30 this morning following an illness of more than a month. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from the St. James Episcopal church. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body will be taken to the church from the Wattawa, Urbanek and Schlei funeral home at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning. It may be viewed at the funeral home from Sunday noon until the time of removal to the church. Miss Braasch was born in Norway Park, Ill., October 28, 1905. She came to Manitowoc at the age of four with her parents. After graduating from the high school here in 1923, Miss Braasch attended the county training school and then went to the Oshkosh State Normal school. She taught school in the county of Branch, Meadow Brook, Maribel and Reedsville. She was a member of the St. James choir and was engaged to marry William H. Tyson, 427 North 6th street. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. W.C. Smith, city; two brothers, Urlrich and Thomas, both of Manitowoc; and five sisters, Mrs. Oscar Nelson, Mrs. Orvill Bentley, Miss Elizabeth Braasch and Miss Nina Smith all of Manitowoc, and Mrs. Gerald Donovan of Peshtigo. EDWARD BRAASCH cemetery #63 From Der Nord Westen, 16 Oct. 1890: On Sat. Eduard Brasch fell dead of a stroke. The unmarried man was buried Tuesday.


GEORGE C. BRAASCH cemetery #44 George C. Braasch, 78, of Rt. 5, Manitowoc, retired county farmer, died Thursday night at the farm home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Theophil Uetzmann will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Braasch was born in Newton in 1874 and a few years later his parents moved to Cato. In 1905 he married Miss Minnie Schwartz. He acquired a farm near Newton station and 14 years ago, ??????? ?? the present homestead in Kossuth. He retired a year ago. He was a member of the Immanueal Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. SOPHIA A. BRAASCH cemetery #44 MRS. BRAASCH DIES; LONG ILL Mrs. Sophia Braasch, 67, 915 Columbus street, died this morning after a lingering illness. The deceased, whose maiden name was Sophia Roxien, was born in Germany. Her husband, Walter Braasch Sr., died some years ago. SOPHIA BRAASCH cemetery #63 From Der Nord Westen, 06 Aug. 1891: (From the correspondent in Mishicott, 04 Aug.) Death of 76 yr. old Mrs. Friedrich Braasch, Sr. on Thurs. evening, 23 July, of old age. She was one of the oldest residents of this town and had come to America with her husband and 5 oldest children in 1849. Her husband died several years ago. The funeral took place on the following Sun. afternoon.


ULRICH J. BRAASCH cemetery #44 ILL ONLY ONE WEEK ULRICH BRAASCH IS CALLED BY DEATH Northwestern Employe Fails to Survive Attack of Pneumonia and Passes Away at Hospital After an illness of only one week, Ulrich Braasch, for several years employed as an operator and ticket agent of the offices of the Northwestern Railway company in this city, died at the hospital last night, a victim of pneumonia. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock and will be attended by the Odd Fellows of which deceased was a member. Mr. Braasch suffered a severe cold ten days ago which developed into pneumonia. He was removed to the hospital early in the week and his condition failed to improve when he passed away last night. Decedent was born in the town of Newton, November 14, 1875 and entered the railway service as a youth of twenty. He was employed at stations of the Northwestern at points in the state and several years ago came to the local station as operator and ticket agent and was employed here at the time he was stricken. Mr. Braasch is survived by a widow and seven children. His father and one brother also survive. He was well liked and held in esteem by a large circle of friends. BRAASCH cemetery #44 PNEUMONIA CLAIMS TWO BROTHERS IN PERIOD OF TEN DAYS Walter Braasch, Brother of Late Ulrich Braasch, Deceased Ten Days Ago, Is Victim of Same Disease Last Night Walter Braasch, brother to Ulrich Braasch, whose death occurred ten days ago, passed away at his home, 1401 South Tenth street, last night, death being due to pneumonia which disease also claimed his brother. The funeral will be held Sunday and will be in charge of Manitowoc lodge 194, I.O.O.F., at the home. Mr. Braasch had assisted in taking care of his brother and on the day previous to the death of the later, was stricken and forced to take to his bed. His condition became alarmingly worse and the end came last night. Decedent was 48 years of age, having been born at Newton Aug. 17, 1870. He had made his home in the city for a number of years. Born Cora La Fond in 1894 in Two Rivers, the deceased was a duaghter of the late Alfred and Lydie Allie La Fond. Her first husband, George Rudolph, died in 1923, and she lated married Ira Dickenson. In 1936 she married William Brabant in Sheboygan. They made their home in that city until Mr. Brabant's death in October, 1944. Shortly afterward she moved to Two Rivers to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. Hermans. She was a member of the auxiliary of the Sheboygan Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mrs. Brabant is survived by one son, Gordon Dickenson, seaman, first class, stationed with a naval unit on Guam. There is a brother, Adolph La Fond of Oshkosh, and three sisters, Mrs. Clarence Cope and Mrs. John Hermans, both of Two Rivers, and Mrs. Joseph Morancy of Sheboygan. EVA BRACHMANN cemetery #43 Mrs. Eva Brachmann, 77, of 1311 Hamilton St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, following a month's illness. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Leschke-Bergner Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church. The Rev. Alfred Pritzl will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. The former Eva Lieschke was born Dec. 12, 1882, at Newton, daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline Cichy Leschke. She was married to Adolph Brachmann in 1905 at Osman and he died in 1947. Mrs. Brachmann was a member of the St. Ann Altar Society of St. Boniface Church and also of the Eagles Auxiliary. FLORIAN A. BRACHMANN cemetery #43 Florian A. Brachmann, age 102, passed away peacefully in Lemont, Ill., on Feb. 27, 2008. A lifelong resident of Manitowoc, he moved recently to Lemont, Ill., with his wife, Theresa, to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Stan Wiet. Florian was a veteran of World War II, and saw action during the Battle of the Bulge in Rhineland and Central Europe as a communication chief. JOSEPH S. BRADL cemetery #43 Joseph S. Bradl, 83, formerly a resident of Shady Lane, Manitowoc, died Sunday evening at Alexian Brothers Hospital, Oshkosh, where he had been two weeks. Mr. Bradl was born March 14, 1879, in the Town of Liberty, son of the late Peter and Margaret Conway Bradl. He married Catherine McNulty at St. Isidore Catholic Church, Osman, in 1903, and the couple established residence at Manitowoc. Mrs. Bradl died April 25, 1944. Mr. Bradl taught school in rural areas for many years and before retiring 15 years ago had been employed 30 years by Mirro Aluminum Co. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ray Jacobson of Manitowoc, Miss Agnes Bradl of Park Ridge, Ill. and Miss Mary Claire Bradl of Combined Locks; three sons, Francis of Manitowoc, Joseph of South St. Paul and George of Knoxville, Tenn.; three brothers, James of Milwaukee, Edwin of Town of Liberty and Harold of Chicago; two sisters, Miss Alice and Miss Mary Bradl of Milwaukee; and 10 grand- children. DARRELL BRADLEY cemetery #16 Darrell Bradley, 13, of Cooperstown, Rt. 1, Denmark, died Saturday afternoon at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, following surgery. He sustained a head injury in October while playing football at St. James Catholic School, Cooperstown. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church, Cooperstown. The Rev. James Geenan will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Darrell was born Sept. 4, 1950, at Cooperstown, son of (private) Bradley. He had been an eight grade student at St. James School. Darrell had been injured during a footbal game at the school last fall and had been hospitalized following the injury. LOUISE BRADLEY cemetery #83 Mrs. Louise Bradley, 69, of Manteno, Ill., a native of the town of Rhine, died Thursday in the Illinois city where she had resided for the past 30 years. The former Louise Lambert, she was born in Rhine, Dec. 13, 1885, a daughter of the late Carl and Katherine Gerber Lambert. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Anna Silbernagel of Kiel, and a brother, John Lambert of the town of Schleswig. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, with the Rev. F.X. Kheil, pastor, celebrant of the requiem mass. The church service will be preceded by a brief service at the Meiselwitz Funeral home. MARGARET BRADY cemetery #16 Mrs. Philip Brady, nee Carberry, died on Thanksgiving Day at the age of 48 years. She had been ill for a long time and death came as a relief from her sufferings. The funeral was held Monday from St. James Catholic church at Cooperstown, the Rev. Bernard Jacobs officiating. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery. Mrs. Brady leaves to mourn her untimely demise, her husband, three daughters, Mary Margaret, Florence and Patricia, and six sons, Jos., James, Dan Michael, Philip and Francis, all at home. Deceased was a kind wife and mother, and a good neighbor, and will be missed by a large number of friends besides those of her sorrowing family. We extend our sympathy. MARY BRADY (d. 1936) cemetery #16 Services Held For Mrs. Mary Brady Burial rites were held from the St. Mary's church at Cooperstown Friday for Mrs. Mary Brady, 66, Franklin resident. Death was due to pneumonia. Survivors are two sons, John, Green Bay and James, Franklin; five daughters, Mrs. George Wender, Esther and Bessie, Oshkosh, Alice and Mrs. Ann Wellner, Franklin; three sisters, Mrs. Park Reed, Fairbanks, Alaska, Mrs. Daniel McGuire, and Mrs. George Reed, both of Los Angeles; and four grandchildren. PHILLIP BRADY cemetery #16 Phillip Brady, 73, of Cooperstown, died yesterday at the St. Vincent's hospital in Green Bay after a three months illness. Mr. Brady was born in Kewaunee, November 23, 1870. He lived on a farm in Denmark for several years until he moved to Cooperstown. He belonged to the Holy Name society of St. James church at Cooperstown. He is survived by five sons, James and Dan of Palmer, Michigan; Michael of Redwood City, California, Sergeant Phillip Brady who is stationed in India, and Corporal Francis Brady who is stationed in France; three daughters, Miss Mary Margaret Brady of Manitowoc, Mrs. Truman Donaldson of Redwood City, California and Patricia at home; one sister, Mrs. James Corbett of Missoula, Montana. Services will be held at Cooperstown Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the St. James Catholic church, Father John Bartelme officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The rosary will be recited by members of the Holy Name Society Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. at the Wochos funeral home in Denmark. Friends may view the body after Tuesday morning. FRANCES BRAEGER cemetery #44 Mrs. Frances Tuesburg, 56, died Monday morning at Manitowoc hospital. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Golden will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Tuesburg, nee Frances Brager, was born Oct. 20, 1915, at Sheboygan, daughter of the late Martin and Frances Brazovitch Brager. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Very Rev. Msgr. Alfred A. Schneider will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Brandel, nee Elizabeth M. Morris, was born July 5, 1913, at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Thomas Morris and Mrs. Cornelia Stephenson Morris. She resided in Manitowoc County all her life. She was graduated from Lincoln High School in 1929 and from Mount Mary College in 1933 where she received her bachelor degree in education. He husband preceded her in death Nov. 29, 1967. Mrs. Brandel was a member of the St. Ann Society of St. Boniface Church. ARTHUR BRANDENBURG cemetery #33 Arthur C. Brandenburg, 55, Rt. 1, Two Rivers, Town of Two Creeks farmer 17 years, died Tuesday morning at Manitowoc Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Klein & Stangel Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, the Rev. T.F. Stern officiating. Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Kossuth. Mr. Brandenburg was born June 23, 1908, in the Town of Carlton, Kewaunee County, son of the late Fred and Emma Kitzerow Brandenburg. He married the former Fern Mathiesen of the Town of Two Creeks at St. John Church, Two Rivers, Sept. 21, 1935, after which he became employed by Stoer Dairy of the Town of Two Rivers. Since 1947 he had been engaged in farming in the Town of Two Creeks. ANNA BRANDL Cemetery #6 Mrs. Anna Brandl, 77, a resident of Whitelaw, died Tuesday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where she was a patient for six weeks. Funeral services will be at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw, the Rev. Francis Rose officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clarks Mills. Mrs. Brandl was born Anna Braun July 3, 1885 in the Town of Liberty, daughter of the late Peter and Barbara Braun. She was married in Manitowoc County May 9, 1910 to George Brandl. The couple owned and operated a farm in the Town of Cato until 13 years ago when she moved to Whitelaw. Her husband preceded her in death in 1950. She was an honorary member of Christian Mothers Altar Society of St. Michael parish. She was the last surviving member of her family. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Anton Mrozinski, Mrs. Arthur Eisenschink, Mrs. Leo Zimmer, Mrs. Hugh Williams and Mrs. Hubert Willis of Manitowoc; five sons, Mark, Arnold and Isadore of Manitowoc, Harold of Rt 1 Cato, and Lambert of Green Bay. 33 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. ANTON BRANDL cemetery #47 Anton Brandl, 84, of Rt. 1, Manitowoc, died Tuesday morning at home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Silverlake. The Rev. Julian C. Resch, O. Praem, will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Brandl was born July 29, 1887, at Maplewood, Door County, son of the late Joseph and Catherine Weber Brandl. He married Margaret Bonnell Oct. 7, 1919, at Antigo. His wife preceded him in death May 6, 1965. He was a blacksmith by trade and was last employed by the McMullen and Pitz Construction Co. of Manitowoc. Mr. Brandl was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the St. Joseph Holy Name Society. Survivors include three sons, James of San Francisco, Gerald of Manitowoc and Howard of Trenton, N.J.; four daughters, Miss Virginia of West Allis, Miss Lorraine of Rt. 1, Manitowoc, Mrs. Richard (Germaine) Bauer of Rt. 5, Manitowoc, and Mrs. Marlyn (Margaret) Evenson of Rt. 1, Valders; three sisters, Mrs. Magdalene Cullen and Miss Frances Brandl of Chicago and Sister M. ALWINA BRANDT cemetery #82 Former Resident Of Kiel Dies At Daughter’s Home Kiel—(Special)—Mrs. Alvina Brandt, 79, nee Russ, a former resident of the Kiel vicinity, died Wednesday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Paul Casper, in Fond du Lac. She was born in the town of Rockland, Manitowoc County, August 17, 1860. In 1879 she was married to Fred Brandt. The couple lived in Manitowoc County for a number of years and then lived in the town of Herman for 25 years. For the past 20 years, she had lived in Fond du Lac. Of her six children, three survive her. They are Mrs. Walter Cole of St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Paul Casper and Mrs. Ella Meyer both of Fond du Lac. Her husband preceded her in death in February of 1934. Two sisters, Mrs. Fred Haese of Brillion, and Mrs. William Brandt of Minnesota; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive her. Funeral services will be held Saturday at the Meiselwitz Funeral home here, with burial in the family lot in the Kiel cemetery. The Rev. Mr. Dickvoss of Fond du Lac will officiate. Mrs. Brandt, nee Bertha Bischoff, was born in the town of Rockland in 1860 and in 1891 was married to John Brandt. They made their home in this city. Mr. Brandt died many years ago. Mrs. Brandt was a member of the St. James church and the St. Faiths Guild of the congregation. Survivors are a daughter, Miss Elsa Brandt, who resided with her mother; son, Leo of this city; brother, Herman of this city; sister, Mrs. Louis Shimek, of this city; and eight grandchildren. Brandt, a former city employe as tender of Tenth street bridge, died at his home 1130 South Fourteenth street at the age of 69 years. Mr. Brandt retired from city service ten years ago and had been in failing health for a long time. He is survived by a widow and one son, Walter and a half-brother August Becker and a half-sister Mrs. Gusta Behringer. Mr. Brandt was formerly engaged in business in the city. FRED L. BRANDT cemetery #82 FRED BRANDT DIES, AGE 76 Native Of County Was At Home Of His Daughter Fred L. Brandt, 76, a native of this county, but in later years located in the town of Herman, Sheboygan County, died Wednesday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Paul Casper of Fond du Lac. He and his wife had been spending the winter with the daughter in Fond du Lac. The body is to be brought to the Meiselwitz funeral home at Kiel and services will be held from there on Saturday, with interment in the family lot in the Kiel cemetery. Mr. Brandt was born in this city in 1857 and was married here to Miss Alvina Rusch in 1878. After their marriage the couple located on a farm near the village of Reedsville. For the past 24 years Mr. and Mrs. Brandt lived on a farm in Herman, Sheboygan County. Survivors are the widow, three daughters, Mrs. Paul Casper and Mrs. Elda Meyer of Fond du Lac, and Mrs. Laura Cole of St. Louis Mo., and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Derecker, of Wausau. GLEN F. BRANDT cemetery #44 Glen F. Brandt, 64, retired salesman who had been living at Orlando, Fla., died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon of a heart attack. He had been in good health but had a heart condition. His death occurred at the home of a neighbor where he had watched the televised Nation Football League championship game between the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants. Brandt for years had been an avid supporter of the Packers and had been referred to often as the “walking encyclopedia” because of his extensive statistical knowledge about players and the team. Brandt, who had made his home at 1445 No Eighth St. before renting the property and moving to Orlando, had been a salesman for 35 years with Oriental Milling Co. Shortly after retiring in 1960 he became associated with Vince Hanson Realty Co. and continued in the realty field while in Florida. A staunch Republican, Brandt had been active for a quarter of a century in the Manitowoc County GOP, serving as the party chairman from 1936 through 1952. At times he was a chairman of both the statutory and volunteer committees. He had been candidate for the state senate post in the First Senate District and for the assembly post in the First Assembly District but was unsuccessful in these bids. Brandt was considered the “father” of the annual Brotherhood Week observance in Manitowoc County and for years he and Mrs. Brandt were active on committees planning and directing the February event. He had been recognized by the National Conference of Christians and Jews, sponsors of the observance, for launching the program in the county. Active in United Commercial Travelers, Brandt had served as grand president of Wisconsin in 1951 and had filled a number of posts in the Manitowoc group. He had been a president of Men’s Brotherhood of St. Paul Methodist Church. Brandt had been a member of the Lions Club until leaving for Florida. At Orlando he continued his UCT and Republican Party activities and also closely followed the progress of the Packers. Born Nov. 15, 1898, at Sparta, son of the late Fred and Jennie Angle Brandt, he was educated at Sparta schools until enrolling at Manitowoc Business College. He married Evelyn Schmalfeldt at Manitowoc May 5, 1928. She survives him along with a daughter, a son, three brothers, Perc, of Manitowoc, Leland, of San Bernardino, Calif., and Wendall, of Burbank, Calif., and two grandchildren. IDA BRANDT (d. 1926) GAS FROM COALSTOVE FATAL TO MRS. BRANDT Found unconscious in her home at 719 So. Twenty-second street a week ago, overcome by gas fumes from a coal heater, Mrs. Ida Brandt, 56, died at the hospital Saturday night without having regained conciousness. Death was not unexpected as Mrs. Brandt was in serious condition when found. Deceased was born at Chicago but had made her home here since she was 8 years of age. She was Ida Gierke before her marriage 36 years ago. Her husband preceded her in death seven years ago, and she is survived by one son, Walter, this city. A brother William Gierke, this city and two sisters, Mrs. Andrew Kaufman, city and Mrs. George Williams, Milwaukee, also survive. Mrs. Brandt, the former Ida Schmidt was born Aug. 7, 1899, at Manitowoc, daughter of the late August and Elizabeth Raeuber Schmidt. JOHN BRANDT cemetery #44 Death Tues. morning here of John Brandt, Sr. at age 68. The deceased was born in Vorpommern, Germany, came to America in 1855, and resided the last 33 years in Manitowoc. Though he suffered a long time with a heart condition he was never bedridden. Tuesday morning he went to the stall to feed the cow and while engaged in his chores was stricken with an attack and fell to the ground. He is survived by his widow and two sons, John and William. JOHN A. BRANDT cemetery #89C John A. Brandt, 68, former Two Rivers Police Chief, of 724 Zlatnik Drive, Two Rivers, died Saturday morning, September 19, 1987, at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, after a valiant fight with Multiple Myeloma, a form of bone cancer. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Episcopal Church, Manitowoc. Father David Klutterman will officiate with Father Mills assisting. Mr. Brandt was born April 11, 1919, at Manitowoc, son of Leo Brandt and the late Ida Schmidt Brandt. He was a veteran of World War II. He joined the Two Rivers Police Department in 1946. Mr. Brandt was a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy in 1954. He became Chief of the Two Rivers Police Department in 1956, a position he held until retiring in 1974. While being Chief, he served on the Governor’s Commission on Traffic Control and was an instructor in Defensive Driving. From 1974 to 1985 Mr. Brandt was employed at Hamilton Industries from where he retired as Supervisor of Maintenance and Security. On December 9, 1945, he married the former Virginia Carbon, at Manitowoc. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a long time member of St. James Episcopal Church. Born May 31, 1892, at St. Anna, she was a daughter of the late Alvis and Katherine Ehlenbeck Brandt. She attended St. Anna Catholic School and later made her home with a brother- in-law and sister, the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Escher in the Town of New Holstien. In 1954 she moved to Kiel, where she was employed at A. A. Laun Furniture, New Holstein, retiring 12 years ago. She was a member of Ss. WILLIAM BRANDT cemetery #44 BRANDT RITES HELD IN CITY Funeral services for William F. Brandt, head of the printing firm which bears his name and prominent in early day newspaper history in Manitowoc, took place this afternoon from the Frazier mortuary. Services were in charge of Chickerming lodge of Odd Fellows, of which Mr. Brandt was a member for years. The chaplain of the lodge, officiated at services at the mortuary and also at the grave with members of the lodge acting as pallbearers. In recognition of the military life of Mr. Brandt, who served at one time as captain of Company H before the Spanish-American war, a firing squad from Company E fired a salute at the grave. Taps was blown by William Wegner. Interment was at Evergreen cemetery. WILLIAM BRANDT cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 29 Aug. 1889: Willie, the 6 yr. son of Mr. W. Brandt, one of the editor's of the "Manitowoc Post", drowned on Mon. evening. The boy had gone with his two brothers down to the river to catch some crabs in the vicinity of Schumacher's Icehouse. The three got into a boat there and began playing as children will. Willie decided to jump in the water to see how deep the river was there. He took off his clothes and jumped overboard, holding onto the edge of the boat. For some reason he lost his hold and sank out of the sight of his brothers. Help was quickly called and a search begun. After 15 mins., the body of the child was found and taken to the home of his grandparents.


CHARLES BRANDTNER cemetery #89D Charles J. Brandtner, 82, of 1713 Emmett St., Two Rivers, for many years a department head at Hamilton Mfg. Co., died Tuesday night at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. Mr. Brandtner was born Jan. 4, 1890, at Two Rivers, son of the late Joseph and Catherine Biermeier Brandtner. He marrid Maude LaFond at St. Luke Church, Aug. 25, 1914. He retired from his Hamilton position 17 years ago. Mr. Brandtner was an honorary life member of Mother of Hope Council No. 1957, Knights of Columbus, and a member of St. Luke Court No. 1637 and Hamilton Management Club. ANNA BRASS cemetery #90 Mrs. Anna Brass, 95, 102 North St., Kiel, widow of Cornelius, died Monday afternoon at Willowdale Nursing Home, New Holstein, where she had resided the past 2 1/2 years. The former Anna Kuhn was born Jan. 9, 1889 in the Town of Meeme, a daughter of John and Louise Boos Kuhn. She attended district school. On Dec. 3, 1899 she was married to Mr. Brass at St. John United Church of Christ, Schwartzwald. The couple located on the Brass home farm in the town of Herman. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1949. Mr. Brass died May 15, 1951. After his death she made her home with her children. Mrs. Brass was a member of St. John UCC, Schwartzwald. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Viola Wegner, Kiel; five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A daughter preceded her in death Aug. 25, 1958, as well as two sisters and three brothers. CORNELIUS BRASS (d. 1951) cemetery #90 Cornelius Brass, 74, a life-long resident of Sheboygan County, passed away at the home of a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ochs, town of Herman. He had been ill since January. Mr. Brass was born Dec. 22, 1876, in the town of Herman, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Brass, early county residents. He was married on Dec. 3, 1899, to Miss Anna Kuhn. The couple celebrated their golden anniversary on Dec. 3, 1949. He was a director of the Mosel and Centerville Telephone company for 40 years, and for the past 18 years has been a director of the Howards Grove State bank. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Viola) Wegner and Mrs. Paul (Olga) Ochs, both of Town Herman; five grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and one brother, Gustave, of Portland, Ore. BRASS, 76 YEARS IN COUNTY, ANSWERS THE CALL Mrs. Fredericka Brass, aged 80 years, passed away at her home in the town of Herman Monday at 12 o'clock after a lingering illness. Mrs. Brass was born in Germany, April 11, 1843, and came to this country when four years of age. Through her long residence in the town of Herman, she gained many friends, who deeply mourn her demise. Mr. Brass died several years ago. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Brass, two of whom preceded the mother in death. The following children survive; Mrs. William Bascher, this city; Mrs. Bertha Meyer, Cleveland, Mrs. Hahn and Otto Brass, of Seymour; Cornelius and Herman Brass of Haven, and Gustave Brass, of Colfax, Washington. Funeral services will be Friday afternoon from the late home in the town of Herman. Rev. HERMAN BRASS cemetery #90 Funeral services for Herman Brass, a retired town of Herman farmer will be held at St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed church in Town Herman. Mr. Brass, 85, a life-long resident of Sheboygan county, died early Thursday morning at St. Nicholas hospital. He had been in ill health for the past year. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Brass, early residents of the county, he was born July 24, 1865, in the town of Herman. He was married to Miss Minnie Hahn of April 20, 1892. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary April 20, 1942. Mr. Brass was a deacon of St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church for 12 years. Survivors are two sons, Theodore, Phoenix, Ariz., and Hubert, on the homestead; three daughters, Mrs. Walter (Esther) Depping, Town Rhine, Mrs. Connie (Selma) Juckem and Mrs. Edward (Minnie) Ehlert, Sheboygan; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, Cornelius, Town Herman, and Gustave, Portland, Ore. HUBERT BRASS cemetery #90 Hubert W. Brass, 66, of Rt. 1, Elkhart Lake, a former Town of Herman farmer, died Tuesday at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital. He had been in ill health the last five weeks. Funeral services will be at St. John United Church of Christ, in the Town of Herman, the Rev. E. L. Hennig officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Brass was born on the homestead farm in the Town of Herman on July 29, 1895, son of the late Herman and Minnie Hahn Brass. He attended district schools and on Feb. 12, 1919, he married Malinda Horneck of the town of Rhine, in that township. They resided at the Brass home farm until 10 years ago when Mr. Brass became a field man for Lakeshore Canning Co. at Cleveland. Mr. Brass was a member of St. John United Church and its Men’s brotherhood, and was a former deacon of the church. Survivors include his wife, three sons, Eugene and Elroy of Rt. 1 Elkhart Lake and Archie of Rt. 2, Sheboygan; a brother, Theodore of Phoenix, Ariz., three sisters, Mrs. Walter Depping of Rt. 3, Plymouth, Mrs. Connie Juckem and Mrs. Edward Ehlert of Sheboygan; and three grandchildren. MINNIE BRASS cemetery #90 Funeral services for Mrs. Herman Brass, aged 71, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Depping, town Rhine, early Tuesday morning, will be conducted at the residence in the town of Herman and at St. John’s Evangelical church in Schwartzwald. The Rev. William Schultz will officiate and burial will be made in the family lot. Mrs. Brass had been ill since last fall. The former Minnie Hahn, who was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hahn, was born in the town of Meeme on May 8, 1871. On April 20, 1892, she was married to Herman Brass in a ceremony performed by the Rev. A J. H. Bierbaum in St. John’s Evangelical church. Since that time Mrs. Brass resided in the town of Herman, where last year she and her husband were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. Throughout her lifetime Mrs. Brass was a member of St. John’s Evangelical church of Schwartzwald and she was a faithful member of the Ladies’ Aid society there. The survivors are her husband, two sons, Theodore, of St. Joseph, Mich., and Herbert, of town Herman, and three daughters, Mrs. Walter Depping (Esther) town of Rhine; Mrs. Connie Juckem (Selma) and Mrs. Ed. Ehlert (Minnie) both of Sheboygan. There are also four grand- children in the family circle, and two brothers, Val. Hahn, town Meeme, and Herman Hahn, Sheboygan, and two sisters, Miss Christina Hahn, town Meeme, and Mrs. Louis Kuhn, town Rhine, also survive.
