FREDERICK F. BONDE SR. Frederick F. "Fritz" Bonde Sr., age 80, of 9622 Pigeon Lake Rd., Valders, died Wednesday afternoon, June 28, 2006 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 6, 1926 in the Town of Meeme, son of the late Theodore and Genevieve (Baugniet) Bonde. He served in the United States Navy during World War II as a 3rd class Seaman. On February 14, 1946 he married the former Katherine Holzer at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. She preceded him in death on April 14, 2002. Fritz and Kate farmed in the Town of Liberty for many years an also owned and operated Okee Dookee Lodge at Pigeon Lake from 1972 to 1984. Fritz was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting, sturgeon fishing, playing cards and bird watching. He was a charter member and past commander of the American Legion Post 477, Town of Liberty Supervisor for 6 years, chairman of the Town of Libety for 34 years, member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church, charter member of the Pigeon Lake Sportsman Club, member of St. Nazianz Lions Club and other service organizations. Fritz is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by three brothers; Norbert, Odilo and Bernard; two sisters, Rose and Marcella; four brothers-in-law; Elmer Koenig, Wilbert Hutchison, Alfred Stein, Bob Lenz and a sister-in-law; Delores (John) Chopich. The family will greet relatives and friends from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2006 at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2006, at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gregory Coulthard with burial to follow at the church cemetery. Deceased whose maiden name was Genevieve Baugniet, was born on August 15, 1891, in Mishicot, and was united in marriage to Theodore Bonde on February 12, 1913. Survivors are the husband; eight sons, Norbert, Bernard, Theodore, Odilo, Alex, Frederick, Donald and Roman; six daughters, Margaret, Loretta, Frances, Irene, Rose and Marion; her mother, Mrs. Fred Baugniet; six brothers, Frank of Texas, Fred of Francis Creek, Archie of Two Rivers, Walter of Milwaukee, Eli and Christ of Mishicot, and a sister, Lillian, of Antigo. KATHERINE MARY BONDE cemetery #21 Katherine M. Bonde, age 75, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, April 14, 2002, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivrs, surrounded by her family. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 18, 2002 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gregory Coulthard with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Katie was born on May 7, 1926 in St. Nazianz, the daughter of the late Herman and Magdalen Schwoerer Holzer. She graduated from St. Gregory School and Valders High School. Katie married Frederick F. Bond Sr. on February 14, 1946 in St. Nazianz. Katie and Fritz farmed in the Town of Liberty for many years and also owned and operated the Okee Dookee Lodge at Pigeon Lake from 1972 until 1984. She was a Charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 477 and Past President of Manitowoc County Extension Homemakers Association. She was a member of St. Gregory's Christian Mothers, Catholic Knights of Wisconsin and Manitowoc County 4H Leader. Katie enjoyed birdwatching, knitting, and her weekly Tuesday afternoon cribbage gatherings. Survivors include her husband Fritz Bonde, two sons and daughters-in-law; one daughter and son-in-law; eight grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law; one sister and brother-in-law and other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Katie is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Katie was preceded in death by one sister, Dolores Chopich. NICK BONDE cemetery #43 Nick Bonde, 80, of Manitowoc, died Friday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, after a lengthy illness. Surviving are his wife, the former Linda Gass; a daughter, Mrs. Milton (Edith) Mueller, R. 1, Sheboygan; five sons, Orville, School Hill, Vernon, Manitowoc, Kenneth of Milwaukee, Ralph of Ely, Minn., and Allen, S. Hadley, Mass.; 25 grandchildren; five great granddaughters; a brother, Theodore Bonde, R. 1, Valders, and a sister, Mrs. Andrew Bushman Sr., Manitowoc. Services will be held Monday with an 11 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc, following brief family rites at 10:30 a.m. at the Pfeffer Funeral Home. NORBERT V. BONDE cemetery #57 Norbert V. Bonde, 61, of 411 St. Paul Street, Kiel, died unexpectedly early Sunday morning at his home. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Born January 8, 1913 in the Town of Meeme, a son of Theodore Bonde and the late Genevieve Baugniet Bonde, he attended Holy Trinity Catholic School at School Hill. On September 10, 1949, he married the former Marie Jacobs Lutzke at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. The couple lived at Route 1, Kiel, until June of this year when they moved to Kiel. Mr. Bonde was employed at Manitowoc Ship Building for 33 years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill, and its Holy Name Society, and the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin, Manitowoc Tribe 49, Improved Order of Red Men, and its 24 Hour Club. Survivors include his widow; a son, three daughters, two step-daughters, two step-sons, his father, Theodore Bonde, Route 1, Valders; seven brothers, Bernard and Theodore Jr., Manitowoc, Alex, rural Kiel, Frederick, rural Valders, Donald, rural Newton, Roman, School Hill, and Odilo, Whittier, California, and five sisters, Miss Margaret and Mrs. Francis Hutchinson, both of Manitowoc, Mrs. Al Stein, Sheboygan, Mrs. Robert Lenz and Mrs. Elmer Koenig, both of rural Valders. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, and at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill, with the Reverend Reginald Schrimpf, pastor as celebrant of the requiem Mass. ANNA M. BONESS cemetery #89C Mrs. Herman Boness, 71, 2407 13th St., Two Rivers, who had been engaged in rug weaving for many years, died at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital early Saturday, where she had been a patient for the past week. She had been in failing health for more than a year. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. Frederic Zarling officiating. Interment will be in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers. Mrs. Boness, nee Ann Schroeder, was born in Germany in 1881, a daughter of the late August and Wilhelmina Vogt Schroeder. She was married to Herman Boness at Butternut more than 49 years ago, the family coming to Two Rivers 27 years ago. Besides her husband she leaves four daughters, Mrs. Clarence Schmidt of Rt. 2, Two Rivers, Mrs. Fred Erdman at Rt. 6, Sturgeon Bay, Mrs. Hubert Van Ess of Two Rviers, and Mrs. Richard Hansen at home, and six sons, Edward of Rt. 2, Manitowoc, Willard, Arthur, Herman, Jr., and Raymond Boness of Two Rivers, and Reinhardt Boness of La Grange, Ill, a brother, Louis Schroeder of Two Rivers, a step-sister, Mrs. Carl Boness, a step-brother, Reinhardt Draeger, Butternut, 15 grand- children and a great grandchild. ELOISE M. BONESS cemetery #89C Eloise M. Boness, age 78, of Two Rivers, died Friday morning, July 22, 2005 at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. on Monday, July 25, 2005 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. David Arndt, with burial to follow in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers. Eloise was born Sept. 9, 1926 in Lena, Wis., a daughter of the late William and Anna Marie (Nelson) Lambrecht. She attended schools in Two Rivers, graduating from Washington High School, Two Rivers, with the class of 1943. On June 10, 1949, she married Raymond F. Boness in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death Jan. 28, 1986. Eloise was employed at Hamilton Industries for many years, where she worked as a microfilm librarian, retiring in 1988. She also did a lot of volunteer work at St. John’s Church, Manitowoc Lutheran High School, and Woodland Dunes, and was a member of the St. John’s Quilters. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, two sons and a daughter-in-law, five grandchildren, one step great-granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter, who is expected in October. She is further survived by one brother and sister-in-law, five sisters and a brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and a sister-in-law and dear friend; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Relatives and friends may call at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, after 9 am. HERMAN A. BONESS cemetery #89C Herman A. Boness, age 81, of Two Rivers, died Wednesday evening, August 28, 1996, at North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 1996, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Rev. Edward Stelter will officiate with burial to follow in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers. He was born December 11, 1914, at Butternut, Wis., son of the late Herman Sr. and Anna Dreger Boness. The family moved to Two Rivers in the 1920’s, where he attended St. John’s Parochial School. On November 20, 1937, he was married to the former Eleanora Lambrecht, by Rev. Haase at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Herman was a member of St. John’s Church having served as trustee and past president and business manager of its Lutheran Men’s Club. Mr. Boness was employed at Kahlenberg Bros. Manufacturing Company over 40 years, retiring in 1980. Survivors include his wife, Eleanora; two daughters and one son-in-law, five grandchildren, four great-granddaughters, two brothers and sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, one sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by a grand-daughter, Kristen Bonk; four brothers, Walter, Edward. GEORGE BONFIGT cemetery #89B The Two Rivers Reporter, Nov. 17, 1947 Bonfigt Rites are Held Here The Rt. Reb. Msgs. C. V. Hugo officiated at funeral services this morning from St. Luke Catholic church for George Bonfigt, 88, who died here Saturday morning after a lingering illness. Interment was in Calvary cemetery. Mr. Bonfigt married the former Anna Kanzelberger on May 18, 1896 and the couple celebrated its golden wedding anniversary last year. He was a member of the Holy Name society of St. Luke's church. Survivors besides his widow are two sons, four daughters, 18 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were members of the Bonfigt and Franz families.


MARGARET BONFIGT cemetery #89B From Der Nord Westen, 26 Apr. 1906: Mrs. Ursula Margaretha Bonfigt, one of the oldest settlers of Town Mishicott, died Sunday. Mrs. Bonfigt was born 21 October 1822 in Dundorf, Bavaria, and came to Town Mishicott with her husband over 50 years ago where she has lived ever since. The funeral was held yesterday morning from the Catholic Church in Two Rivers.

JOHANNA BONIN cemetery #43 From Der Nord Westen, 17 Dec. 1896: Death on Sun., here in Manitowoc, of 78 yr. old Mrs. Johanna Bonin, wife of Johann Bonin, following a 7-mo. illness. The deceased was born in the Province of Posen and came to America with her husband in 1866 and the pair settled in Manitowoc. Five years ago the couple celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. Mrs. Bonin is survived by her 80 yr. old husband and 8 grown children, as well as 37 grand- children. Burial took place Tues. morning at the Catholic Cemetery.

The deceased was 67-years of age and had lived in Manitowoc County many years. She is survived by 2 sons and 5 daughters. The body was taken to Nordheim and buried there.


ANTONIA BONK cemetery #43a DEATH CLAIMS ONE OF OLDEST CITY RESIDENTS Mrs. Antonette Bonk died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Werner, 1114 So. Twenty-second street, this morning, at the age of ninety-five years. The deceased was a native of Poland and came to this city about fifty years ago. She leaves two daughters and two sons to survive her. They are Mrs. Martin Bonk and Mrs. Frank Werner and Jacob Bonk of this city and Frank Bonk of Menominee, Mich. Thirty grandchildren and twenty- two great grandchildren also survive her. The funeral will take place from the house Friday morning and at nine o'clock from St. Mary's church. CATHERINE M. BONK cemetery #43 Catherine M. Bonk, age 87, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, died on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at Aurora BayCare, Green Bay. She was born on May 10, 1920, in Manitowoc County, daughter of the late James and Priscilla (O'Neil) Driscoll. Catherine was a graduate of Kiel High School. On Aug. 22, 1953, she married George R. Bonk at St. Isidore Catholic Church, Osman. He preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 1979. Catherine was a beautician for many years, and also worked in the office at the Hotel Manitowoc. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc. Koszarek will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Bonk was born Aug. 16, 1891, at Newton, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Bonk. He married Lena L. Knudson March 4, 1912, at Manitowoc. He owned and operated a butcher shop and was a butcher in Manitowoc. He was also employed at Wisconsin Telephone Co., Manitowoc, until his retirement in 1955. FRANK F. BONK cemetery #44 Frank F. Bonk, age 89, of Manitowoc, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004, at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gerald Foley with burial of the cremated remains to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. He was born Oct. 4, 1914, in Manitowoc, son of the late Martin and Josephine Norkosky Bonk. Frank attended St. Mary Grade School, Southside Junior High and Lincoln High School, graduating in 1934. He lettered in football and track. He was involved in all sports from 1932 until 1966. He started and operated as sole owner of the city semi-pro football team known as the Manitowoc Galloping Gaels from 1938 to 1966. This later became known as The Braves and then The Chiefs. He served as football commissioner of the Central States Football League and Wisconsin State Football League. In 1967, he organized a minor league professional football league in Columbus, Ohio, including all the states east of the Mississippi River. On Oct. 15, 1938, he married the former Dorothy Steffen at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He was inducted into the Central States League Hall of Fame in 1966. He was the first athlete inducted into the Lakeshore Sports Hall of Fame in April 1977. In 1988, he was inducted into the National American Football Association Minor Pro Hall of Fame in Chicago, III. He also has been included in the Congressional Records in Washington, D.C., for his accomplishments in sports in 1989. Frank retired from the White House Milk A & P in April 1977 from the maintenance engineering department. He had been a union steward for six years. He was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc and at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church with the Rev. E.A. Radey officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Two Rivers. Mr. Bonk was born Oct. 7, 1887 at Northeim, son of the late Simon and Mary Tomchek Bonk. He married Susan Kumbalek June 27, 1916 at Two Rivers. The couple lived for a time at Manitowoc then moved to Fond du Lac for three years and then back to Manitowoc. He was employed for 49 years by the Soo Line Railroad and spent 44 years as a locomotive engineer. He retired in 1957. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of Holy Innocents Church and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Engineers. His wife died Oct. 3, 1962. Among survivors is a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Streeter, of Greendale, Wis., a sister, Miss Lillian Bonk, of Milwaukee and two grandchildren. A brother and a sister preceded him in death. AGO A rather unusual coincidence in connection with the death yesterday of Xavier Bonk, a pioneer settler of the town of Newton, is that his death occurred on the same date as that on which his wife passed away 24 years ago. Mrs. Bonk died on March 2, 1893 early in the day and Mr. Bonk was called yesterday, March 2 at 10 in the morning. Mr. Bonk was born in Germany and came to Manitowoc county at the age of 19, and since that time had been a well known and prosperous farmer. The funeral was held Thurs. from the Catholic Church. ******** Judge Anderson Unable to Dispose of all Business Yesterday. Several cases that were on the docket to be heard in county court yesterday, had to be continued Judge Anderson was kept busy all day and when "time" was called the gentleman was dead willing to continue cases that had not been granted a hearing. Matters that came up, were in the main, unimportant. Among the more interesting was a petition presented to the court for administration in the estate of Eva Bonn, deceased, late of the town of Two Rivers. The petitioner was Henry Bonn, son of the deceased and the petition was filed and hearing continued. Joseph Miller, administrator in the estate of the late Adam Herwig, filed an inventory of the real estate and personal property. He says the value of the estate is $1213.20. ADAM BOOS cemetery #90 Adam Boos, 77, a pioneer settler of the town of Herman, had died at Strattford, according to word received at Howards Grove. The deceased was born in Rheinppren?? FREDERICKA BORCHERDT cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 13 June 1907: Death Tuesday of 91-year old Mrs. Fredericke Borcherdt in the home of her son-in-law Hermann Habermann on the corner of 13th and Columbus Streets. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Habermann. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon from the Lutheran Church.


FREDRICH BORCHERDT (d. 1877) cemetery #44 AN OLD SETTLER GONE We sincerely regret to announce that Hon. Fred Borcherdt, of Manitowoc, U. S. Consul to Leghorn, Italy, recently died unexpectedly at his post in the sunny clime of southern Europe. The deceased was one of the early settlers of Manitowoc and prior to his departure for Europe was editor in chief of the Manitowoc Tribune. He was an honest upright man, a kind husband, an affectionate and indulgent father, an obliging neighbor, a true friend and a first class citizen and although he has passed from Earth to Heaven his Christian example, benevolent course, wise counsel and kind acts will never be forgotten. In common with the vast multitude who knew and appreciated his sterling worth we drop a tear to his memory and tender the bereft family our heartfelt sympathy, as we always recognized Mr. Borcherdt as one of the best and truest friends of our boyhood days. HENRY BORCHERDT cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 03 Dec. 1903: Death Fri. morning of 45-yr. old Henry Borcherdt, a well-regarded resident of our city, following an illness of about a year. The deceased had been employed by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for many years, but about 5 yrs. ago took over the Central Hotel and then later the Badger Café. He is survived by his sorrowing parents, several sisters, his widow and a 9-yr. old daughter. JOACHIM BORCHERDT cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 22 Sep. 1904: On Tues. evening Mr. F.C. Borcherdt, the proprietor of the Hotel Victoria here, received a telegram that his brother, Joseph Borcherdt, had died from burns received while at work in Kaukauna. He was employed there by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad Co. and was injured in the explosion of a gasoline receptacle while at work. He was burned so badly that he suffered a terrible death within a few hours. This is the third of the Borcherdt brothers who has died within the past year. This victim of such a terrible end was 50 yrs. of age and leaves a wife and 3 children as well as his sorrowing parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. MARY BORCHERDT cemetery #44 MRS. BORCHERDT, RESIDENT HERE 51 YEARS, DEAD Mother of F.C. Borcherdt Dies at Age of 84 Death claimed Mrs. Minnie Borcherdt, widow of the late Frederick Borcherdt, at the home of her daughter, mrs. Henry Baetke, South Tenth street, last night, taking another of the early day settlers of the county. Mrs. Borcherdt, was 84 years of age and had been in failing health for some time. Mrs. Borcherdt was born in Germany June 18, 1829 and was married there and in 1856 came to America with her husband, the couple arriving here June 13 of that year and Mr. Borcherdt for years engaged in the contract and teaming business. Since the death of her husband some years ago Mrs. Borcherdt had made her home with her children, four of whom survive, being F.C. Borcherdt, Sr., this city, John, of Chicago, Mrs. Henry Baetke and Mrs. Lena Rolland, this city. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock from St. John’s church, Marshall street. April 9, 1915 - St. John's United Church of Christ) ******** SON CUT OFF IN MOTHER'S WILL, CONTESTS But Court Orders Borcherdt Will to be Probated Cut off with a $25 bequest in the will of his mother, the late Mrs. Maria Borchert, while three other children share equally in the estate, John Borcherdt of Chicago today contested the petition for probating of the will and a hearing was held in probate court. Judge Chloupek, in a ruling, admitted the will to probate. The contest was raised upon the grounds that Mrs. Borcherdt was incompetent, owing to age, to make a will and that undue influence had been exercised but the court held that there was no evidence to support the charges. WILHELMINA BORCHERDT cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 23 Aug. 1900: Death Fri. of 91-yr. old Mrs. Wilhelmine Borcherdt, widow of the late Friedrich Borcherdt who died in Livorno in 1877. The deceased was born 11 June 1809 in Chemnitz, Kingdom of Saxony, and came to America with her husband in 1833. The family first lived in Detroit, but then in 1841 came to Neshoto and beginning in 1856 have been residents in Manitowoc. When Mr. Borcherdt was named American Counsel in Livorno in 1874 the deceased accompanied him there but returned to Manitowoc following his death. She leaves 6 children. The funeral was held Mon. afternoon.


WILLIAM BORCHERDT cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 14 Jan. 1904: Death Fri. in Kaukauna of Wilhelm Borcherdt, a son of Mr. Fr. Borcherdt here. The deceased had come here about 6 wks. ago to attend the funeral of his brother, Henry Borcherdt, and while here caught a severe cold which turned into pneumonia that shortly claimed his life. He worked for the Northwestern Railroad for 23 yrs. and proved himself to be a conscientious employee. He was born 14 Apr. 1861 and married several years ago with Miss Emma Brennig. About 14 yrs. ago he moved to Kaukauna with his family. In addition to his widow he is survived by 3 children, his father, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. His body, and his survivors, were brought here by the Northwestern Railroad on a special train honoring the loss of a loyal employee. He was buried Mon. in the local city cemetery.


ADOLPH BORETSKY cemetery #89A The death of Adolph Boretsky occurred Saturday last at his home, 1303 Twenty-third Street. Mr. Boretsky had been ill a long time. He was 55 years of age, having been a resident of this city since boyhood. He was employed in Aluminum Goods plant no. 1. The deceased is survived by his wife, three daughers; Rose, Anna and Lucy, and three sons: Benjamin, Otto and Edward. The Funeral took place Tuesday afternoon from the home, Rev. T. A. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Robert Sawall will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Borgwardt was born Oct. 5, 1897, in Town of Newton, son of the late Rudolph and Anna Ahlers Borgwardt. He attended schools in Newton and operated the L and B Service Station from 1934 until 1946. Then he had been employed by Manitowoc Engineering Co. retiring in 1963. He married Erna Fischer Sept. 8, 1923, in Town of Newton, the couple moving to Manitowoc in 1926. Mr. Borgwardt served on the church councils at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church and Bethany Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, a daughter, two brothers, John and Walter of the Town of Newton, and seven grandchildren. A brother preceded him in death. ANNA BORGWARDT (d. 1946) cemetery #70 Mrs. Rudolph Borgwardt, 77, lifelong resident of the county, died Thursday night on the homestead farm, route 3, Manitowoc, now operated by her son, Walter. Born Anna Ahlers in Newton in 1869, she was married to Mr. Borgwardt in 1893 and they located on the farm in Newton. Mr. Borgwardt died three years ago. Survivors are four sons, Edwin, John and Walter of Newton, Alfred of this city; sister, Mrs. John Carstens of Newton; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Urbanek and Schlei funeral home and at 2 o'clock at the St. Johns Lutheran church, Newtonburg, the Rev. Edward Kionka officiating. AUGUST BORGWARDT cemetery #40 August J. Borgwardt, 59, lifelong resident of the county, died yesterday at the Holy Family hospital following a lingering illness. He was moved to the hospital three months ago from his farm home in Liberty. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from the home and at 2 o'clock from the German Lutheran church in Liberty, the Rev. E. Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Borgwardt was born in 1883 at Liberty and in 1910 married Miss Ella Stoll and they located on the present farm. Mrs. Borgwardt died five years ago and a daughter, Ruth, four months ago. Survivors are two sons, Herbert and Erwin, both of Liberty; two brothers, Rudolph of Newton and Christian of Liberty; three sisters, Mrs. Albert Haese and Mrs. John Sieber, of this city, Mrs. William Sonnenburg, of Liberty.
