CAROLINA BOCK cemetery #37 MRS. CAROLINA BOCK, RESIDENT OF COUNTY FOR 62 YEARS, IS CALLED BY DEATH, 67(sic) YRS. OLD Death claimed one of the oldest residents of Manitowoc county last night when Mrs. Caolina Bock, widow, passed away at her home near Silver Creek at the advanced age of 87 years. Mrs. Bock had been a resident of Manitowoc county for more than sixty-two years continuously, having come here in youth. Born in Germany 87 years ago, Mrs. Bock came to Manitowoc with her husband resided on a farm in the town of Kossuth for a long term of years. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Bock made her home on N. Twelfth street in this city until some months ago when she took up her home on a farm near Silver Creek which she purchased. Deceased was the mother of nine children, four of whom survive, being William of the town of Manitowoc, Otto of Crandon, Henry of Rhinelander and Charles of Suckow, Mont. The funeral will be held Tuesday from the home at Silver Creek and interrment (sic) will be at the Baptist cemetery at Kossuth, the funeral leaving the home at noon. FRED W. BOCK cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 22 Feb. 1906: Death Wednesday afternoon last week in the local Holy Family Hospital of Fred. W. Bock, a ship's carpenter. A short while ago BOCK went to Milwaukee to work and while eating got a bone stuck in his throat which the Milwaukee doctors were unable to remove. He was brought back here and entered the hospital where Dr. Sifton operated. The patient grew constantly weaker and died on Wednesday. Fred. W. Bock was born in 1852 in Germany and came here with his parents as a child of 9-months, settling in Town Kossuth. He learned ship carpentry as he grew up and worked here for many years. AGNES (SCHAUER) BODENSTAB cemetery #89D Agnes (Shauer) Bodenstab, age 94, a resident of St. Mary’s Home, formerly of 1816 Emmet St., Two Rivers, died early Tuesday morning April 23, 1996, at St. Mary’s Home. Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, April 27, 1996, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Donald Marquardt with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. She was born June 24, 1901, in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Frank and Jennie Gonia Bonk. She attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Washington High School. On September 22, 1927, she married James Schauer in Two Rivers and he preceded her in death January 17, 1973. On September 8, 1977, she married Leonard Bodenstab in Two Rivers. He also preceded her in death October 14, 1984. Agnes was organist at Sacred Heart Church for 16 years. She was employed at Mirro Aluminum Company for many years. Surviving are a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. ANNIE BODWIN cemetery #44 Mrs. Annie E. Bodwin, 74, former county resident, died this morning at the home of her daughter, Miss Myrtle Moser, at Elkhorn, Wis., Mrs. Bodwin has made her home at Elkhorn in recent years. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Frazier mortuary. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery. Mrs. Bodwin, nee Annie Fulton, was born in Milwaukee in 1864, and accompanied her parents to this county when a girl. The family located on a farm west of the city. She was first married to Charles Moser, who died 40 years ago. Later she was married to Leonard Bodwin. They located at Owen, Clark county. Mr. Bodwin died there and Mrs. Bodwin later located in Milwaukee. Survivors are a daughter, Miss Myrtle Moser, Elkhorn, Wis.; five sisters, Mrs. Mary Anderson, Los Angeles, Miss Emily Fulton and Mrs. Adelbert Schmidt, both of Milwaukee, Mrs. Fred Christiansen, route 3, Two Rivers, Mrs. Philip Smith, Sr., Silver Lake. ELLA BOECKMAN cemetery #44 Miss Ella Boeckman, 80, of 3001 S. 10th St., Manitowoc, died Sunday afternoon at home. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Norval W. Kock will offiicate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Miss Boeckman was born July 15, 1889, at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Carl and Ida Erdman Boeckman. Her parents operated a farm south of Silver Creek and after their death she continued to reside on a portion of the former homestead property with her brother, Charles. Since her brother died in 1955, a niece, (Survivor omitted for privacy.), lived with her and more recently her twin sister, Evelyn, also resided there. WILLIAM F. BOECKMAN cemetery #44 William F. Boeckman, 65, of 1810 S. 13th St., Manitowoc, died Sunday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Reformed United Church of Christ, Manitowoc. The Rev. Theodore P. Crusius will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Boeckman was born Jan. 7, 1905, at Manitowoc, son of the late William and Ida Kreie Boeckman. He attended schools at Manitowoc where he married Loretta Staudinger Dec. 30, 1924. He was a mason by trade and worked for many of the contractors here. In 1946, he became a self-employed mason contractor, working until health forced him to retire. Mr. Boeckman was a member of Masons Union Local 12 and at one time held all offices in the union. He was also a member of Master Builders, Eagles Aerie 706, Manitowoc Masonic Lodge 65, Manitowoc Chapter 16, Manitowoc Council 18 and Manitowoc Commandery 45. Survivors include his wife; a son, two daughters, a brother, 13 grandchildren and a great grandchild. A son, a sister and a brother preceded him in death. KARL BOECKMANN cemetery #44 From Der Nord Westen, 07 Jan. 1909: Carl Boeckmann, an 85-year old man living south of Manitowoc who has been known to walk in his sleep, on Sunday night wandered away from his house barefoot in his nightshirt. The old man was found Monday morning lying alongside a hedge. Because of his age it is feared there may be some aftermath. ************ From Der Nord Westen, 14 Jan. 1909: Carl Boeckmann, the old man we recently wrote about as a sleepwalker, had another episode Saturday night. This time he slipped on the ice and broke a hip. WILLIAM BOECKMANN (d. 1918) cemetery #44 William Boeckman, well known mason contractor, died at the hospital yesterday afternoon of pneumonia. He had recently undergone an operation for appendicitis and was rapidly recovering when he suffered the fatal attack. Mr. Boeckman was well known and was formerly in partnership with Gustave Aumann. Born in this city on June 10, 1874, deceased was 44 years of age. He is survived by his widow and four children, Esther, Adolph, Rudolph and William. EMELIA BOEDER cemetery #44 Following a several months illness, Mrs. Gust Boeder, 80, of 934 South 12th street, a Manitowoc resident for more than 60 years, died this morning at the family home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the First Reformed church, the Rev. A.C. Fischer officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. Mrs. Boeder, nee Emelia Latzig, was born in Germany in 1862 and came to Manitowoc in 1880. In 1881 she was married to Gust. Boeder, the ceremony taking place in the old frame fire station at the foot of North Seventh street. For a number of years after their marriage Mr. Boeder was employed at the Rahr brewery. He also seved as a member of the volunteer fire department. In 1900 he became a member of the regular paid department, also serving as a lineman for the department. He retired in 1915. In 1941 Mr. and Mrs. Boeder observed their sixtieth wedding anniversary. Survivors are the widower; daughter, Mrs. Fred Laufenburg of Milwaukee; two sons, William and Walter of this city; two brothers, William and Julius Latzig of Merrill; and three grandchildren. ROBERT H. BOEDER cemetery #44 Robert Boeder, 79, of 2112 S. 16th St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. John United Church of Christ, Manitowoc, with the Rev. Paul Blaufuss officiating and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. The American Legion Post 88 will conduct military rites at the graveside. Mr. Boeder was born April 3, 1890, at Manitowoc, son of the late Robert F. and Dora Wehausen Boeder. He married Martha Erdmann June 30, 1927, at Manitowoc, where the couple resided. Mr. Boeder was employed by Manitowoc Engineering Co. until he retired in 1958. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the 379th Infantry Machine Gun Battalion. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 88, World War I Barracks 2565. JACOB BOEGE SR. cemetery #84 From Der Nord Westen, 04 Nov. 1909: Death Wednesday last week in Town Schleswig of 83-year old Jacob Boege, a pioneer settler in that town. He leaves a widow and 2 sons. ******** Kiel—Jacob Boege Sr. a well-known immigrant of this area passed away last week Wednesday at his home from a heart failure at the age of 82 years 5 months and 11 days. He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was born May 16th, 1827 in Beinflet near Itzchae, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany and came to America in 1845 and settled in New Holstein. He was married to Christine Reimers and moved to a farm in Town Schleswig. She passed away after 10 years of marriage. The marriage also produced 2 sons, John and Jacob. He later married Charlotte Krause who passed away 18 years later. He was married the third time to Sophie Stecker by whom he is survived. JOHN BOEGE cemetery #82 John Boege of Kiel Dies at Home of Daughter Thursday Kiel, Wis. – John Boege, aged 77, passed away suddenly at 7:45 p.m. Thursday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ludwig Duerrwachter, 640 Fremont street, this city. Mr. Boege was born November 5, 1861, in Schleswig township, the son of Jacob and Christina Reimer Boege, and was married to Miss Maria Balz of Schleswig October 11, 1883. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1933. After their marriage, the couple lived on the Boege homestead farm for 10 years and the family then came to Kiel. Mr. Boege owns the farm known as the Riverside tavern. He operated the first milk route in this city. A number of years ago he sold the homestead farm to Frederick Sieling and then purchased what is known as the Brooklyn tavern where he dealt in farm implements for many years. He sold this property and bought the farm where the Brooklyn filling station is located, which he operated for ____ {cut off} years when his son William ____ {cut off} over the business and the family came to Kiel. His son, William died February 16, 1920, and his wife preceded him on April 27, 1936. For the past ___ {cut off} and one-half years he lived with his daughter, at whose home he passed away. LYDIA BOEGE cemetery #82 Mrs. Otto A. Boege, 78, of 716 Sixth Street, Kiel, died last week Thursday at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, after an illness of several months. The former Lydia Schreiber, she was born September 27, 1895, at Brillion, the daughter of the late Fred and Amanda Maass Schreiber. On November 28, 1929, she married Mr. Boege at the Lutheran Church in Brillion. The couple lived on a farm near New Holstein until their retirement in 1946 when they moved to Kiel. Her husband died July 8, 1971. Mrs. Boege was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Kiel. Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Irma Wehausen of Golden, Colorado, and two brothers, Alfred of Chilton and Edmund of Manitowoc. Funeral services were held Saturday at St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel, with the Reverend John F. Baumann, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Kiel Cemetery.


MARY BOEGE cemetery #82 Mrs. John Boege, 74 nee Mary Balz, died at her home at Calumet and River Drive Monday evening at 8:30 o’clock, following an illness of nine weeks. Born on a farm in the town of Schleswig, June 29, 1861, Mrs. Boege lived there for many years. Her marriage to John Boege of that township took place on October 11, 1883 and the couple operated several farms in the town of Schleswig. In 1916 they moved to their present home. Four children were born to them, one son, William, preceding his mother in death in 1920. Survivors are her husband, 3 daughters, Mrs. Ludwig (Mary) Duerrwaechter and Mrs. Arno (Ella) Keppler of this city; and Mrs. Fred (Anna) Duerrwaechter of New Holstein; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one brother, John Balz and a sister, Mrs. Carl Petzoldt of this city. Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the C. J. Meiselwitz Funeral Home here, with the Rev. E. L. Worthman of the St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed church officiating. Burial will be made in the family lot in the Kiel cemetery.


META A. BOEGE cemetery #82 Miss Meta A. Boege, 68, of 320 Fremont St., Kiel, died Thursday evening at Calumet Memorial Hospital in Chilton following a short illness. Born in the Town of Schleswig on July 23, 1894, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Wilhelmina Boege, and received her education in the Kiel Public schools. She was employed as a domestic, and had lived in Kiel for the past 23 years. OTTO A. BOEGE cemetery #82 Otto A. Boege, 8O, of Kiel, died today at Calumet Memorial Hospital in Chilton. He was born in Kiel on Feb. 7, 1891, the son of the late Jacob and Minnie Feldt Boege. He attended Kiel public schools, and lived on a nearby farm until 1920 when he moved to a farm near New Holstein. He married the former Lydia Schreiber in Brillion Lutheran Church on Nov. 28, 1929. The couple retired in 1946 and moved to Kiel. He was a member of St. Peter United Churdh of Christ in Kiel. Mr. Boege is survived by his wife. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Peter Church, with the Rev. John F. Baumann, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Kiel Cemetery. WILHELMINE BOEGE cemetery #82 Hold Rites for Mrs. Jacob Boege of New Holstein New Holstein – Funeral services for Mrs. Jacob Boege, who died Wednesday morning at her home in New Holstein after an illness of several months, will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the home and at 2 o’clock at St. John’s Reformed church. The Rev. A. G. Schmid will officiate and burial will be made in the Kiel city cemetery. The deceased was born November 27, 1862 in Germany and came to America at the age of three with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Feldt. The family located in Schleswig, Manitowoc county, and on May 24, 1888 she was married to Jacob Boege and they located on a farm near Kiel. Thirteen years ago the couple moved to a farm one mile north of New Holstein and for the past three years have made their home in New Holstein. The survivors are her husband, one son, Otto of the town of New Holstein; two daughters, Miss Meta at home, and Mrs. Herman Wendling of Kiel; one brother, August of Plymouth; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Winkel of Schleswig, and Mrs. Herman Stueven of Fond du Lac. WILLIAM BOEGE cemetery #82 The sad news spread over our village early Monday morning, that Wm. Boege, only son of Mr. and Mrs. John Boege of Kiel, had passed away at 6 o'clock that morning at his home in Kiel, of pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. Boege both took sick only a week before with the flu and Mr. Boege's case later developed into pneumonia. Mr. Boege was one of Kiel's respectable citizens and had a host of friends here, who deeply regret his departure. Four years ago last November he was united in marriage to Miss Nora Schueler of this village and they began housekeeping on the old Boege homestead. Besides his sorrowing wife he leaves one daughter, his parents, three sisters, Mrs. Ludwig Duerrwaechter and Miss Ella of Kiel and Mrs. Fred. Duerrwaechter of this village. The funeral took place Wednesday afternoon. 1920 (no newspaper name) **************** WILLIAM BOEGE OF KIEL DEAD News was received here Monday morning by relatives that William Boege, only son of, Mr. and Mrs. John Boege of Kiel had expired after one week’s illness of pneumonia. The deceased was born in the town of Schleswig March 3l, 1889. After his graduation from the Kiel high school in 1907 he assisted his father on the farm and was at one time employed here. He was united in marriage to Miss Nora Schueler of here in 1915 and they began life together on the farm just outside the village limits of Kiel. For the past six months he has been acting as carrier on Routh No. 2 at Kiel. His wife and daughter contracted influenza, but believing that the exposure to wind and weather while performing his official duties would make him immune to the same disease relatives were shocked to learn that he was battling against pneumonia that resulted in his untimely death. He was a young man of excellent character and of quiet and unassuming manner which made him a general favorite with all who knew him. He is survived by his widow, one daughter, parents and three sisters, Mrs. Fred Duerwaechter of this village; Mrs. Ludwig Duerwaechter, Kiel and Miss Ella at home. ANNA BOEGER cemetery #90 Howards Grove—Mrs. Anna Boeger, 72, passed away Monday at Memorial hospital following a lingering illness. She was born Feb. 3, 1870, in town Meeme, the daughter of Henry and Sophie Kammann, and was married to Albert Roehrborn in 1889 and located on a farm in town Herman. He preceded her in death in 1898. In 1903 she married William Boeger of town of Herman and stayed on the Roehrborn homestead until 1919 when they moved to the present farm home where her daughter, Mrs. Harvey Harms, resides. Mr. Boeger passed away in 1932. Survivors are six children, Mrs. Henry (Edna) Bramstedt of town Herman, Harry Roehrborn of Neillsville, Edwin Roehrborn on the Roehrborn homestead, Walter Roehrborn of Kaukauna, Mrs. Harry (Frieda) Harms, present homestead in town Herman on Highway 32, a mile south of Howards Grove, and Arno Boeger of Sheboygan; 17 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a brother, William Kammann of town Meeme; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Wierman of Baxter, Iowa, Mrs. William (Sophia) Siemers of town Herman, Mrs. Guido (Alvina) Klemme of Plymouth. WILHELM C. BOEGER cemetery #90 Howards Grove—William C. Boeger, 53, well known resident of Sheboygan County and former supervisor of town of Herman, was found dead in bed early Sunday morning by Mrs. Boeger at his home, 1 mile south of Howards Grove on Highway 32. Mr. Boeger had retired in good health Saturday evening and his sudden death came as a shock to many persons in the community. Coroner C. N. Sonnenburg was summoned and death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Boeger was born in town of Sheboygan Falls on April 4, 1879. His marriage with Anna Kammann was solemnized on November 5, 1903. The couple located on a farm near Edwards, where they resided for sixteen years. After that they moved on their present farm. Mr. Boeger was elected supervisor of the town of Herman for two terms, his time of service expiring in 1931. He was also a member of the school board during the time he lived at Edwards. Mr. Boeger was a member and director of St. Johannes Church at Schwartzwald. He was a kind and loving father and possessed a large number of acquaintances, who mourn his sudden death. ANTON BOEHM (d. 1944) cemetery #43 Anton Boehm, 58, dropped dead while tending bar at Lee's tavern Friday night after suffering a stroke. He resided at 713A Madison Street. The body was taken to the Pfeffer funeral home, and will lie in state from noon Sunday until 2 p.m. Monday when burial rites will be conducted by the Rev. Paul Blaufuss of St. John's Evangelical church. Interment will be in Calvary cemetery. A lifelong resident of Manitowoc county, he was born here on Oct. 29, 1886. For ten years he was a switchman for the Chicago and North Western Railroad company, then he was employed at the Manitowoc Shipbuilding company for two years. Before accepting his job at Lee's a year and a half ago he operated a tavern at Stockbridge. On Oct. 17, 1919, Mr. Boehm claimed as his wife Miss Louise Hoffmier, who survives with one son, Sgt. FERDINAND BOEHM cemetery #89A Died of His Injuries. Fred Boehm, who was so badly injured by a fall from the scaffolding of a building at Shoto last week, died of his injuries Saturday evening. GEORGE BOEHM cemetery #44 GEORGE BOEHM FOUND DEAD AT HOME TODAY George Boehm, 36, married and the father of three children was found dead in the basement of his home at 1211 South Eighteenth street by Mrs. Boehm this morning when she visited the basement to call him after he had been there for some time attending to a chicken brooder which was in operation. Mr. Boehm is believed to have died from strangulation by a rope which was found about his throat. Mrs. Naidl, a neighbor was summoned by Mrs. Boehm to assist her and later Coroner Kemper was called. Mr. Boehm was born in this city July 13, 1890, attended the local schools and eleven years ago was married to Emma Ellerman of Mishicot. The family has always resided here and Mr. Boehm had for some time been employed by the Ship Building Corporation. He had been in good health although yesterday he had complained of feeling ill. Besides his widow and three children, Raymond, George Jr., and Marion, Mr. Boehm is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Boehm, two sisters, Mrs. Fred Schmidt of North Fond du Lac and Mrs. Adolph Boeckman of this city, and one brother, Walter, also residing here. EARL P. BOEHRINGER cemetery #89A Earl P. Boehringer, age 92, a former Two Rivers resident, died Wednesday morning, February 4, 1998, at the Woodside Lutheran Home, Green Bay. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 6, 1998, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Rev. Edward Stelter will officiate with burial in Pioneer Rest Cemetery, Two Rivers. He was born April 11, 1905, in Two Rivers, son of the late William C. and Hulda Kasten Boehringer. He attended St. John Parochial School and Washington High School, graduating in 1923. He went to work in the family business after graduation. Upon the early death of his father, he took over the managing of the Boehringer Oil and Fuel Co. He was active in community affairs and devoted many hours to civic and service organizations. He was a past president of the Chamber of Commerce and the Two Rivers Lions Club. He was a past state director of the Wisconsin Upper Michigan Fuel Dealers Association, a past director of the State Ready Mix Association, and a past director of the Wisconsin Petroleum Association. He married the former Norine Valentine on July 15, 1930, in Suamico, Wis. Survivors include his wife, Norine; a daughter and son-in-law; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother. Friends may call at St. John Ev. Boeldt, 76, a former Town of Schleswig resident and a resident of the Calumet Homestead, New Holstein, for the past two years died Thursday afternoon at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, where she had been a patient for a day. The former Edna Bratz was born Jan. 25, 1907, in the Town of Eaton, a daughter of Otto and Bertha Reichardt Bratz. She attended district school. On July 8, 1925, she married Helmuth Boeldt at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Town of Schleswig. The couple farmed in the Town of Schleswig until retirement in 1962. She was a member of Bethlehem UCC and of its Ladies Aid Society. Survivors include her husband, of New Holstein; six daughters, two sons, 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a sister Mrs. Erna Kabowski of Manitowoc. WILLIAM C. BOELTE cemetery #89A William C. Boelte, 69, a former teacher in the Lutheran parochial school at Two Rivers, died Friday at his home in Bay City, Mich., where he has lived for 26 years. Born in Germany, he came to this country as a young man. He studied for the teaching profession and served at the Lutheran school at Kewaunee before coming to St. John's church school at Two Rivers. He married Laura Kurtz and the couple made their home at Columbus, Wis., where Mr. Boelte taught school. A few years later they moved to Marinette and then to Bay City. He retired from teaching a few years ago. Survivors include his wife; two brothers, Fred Boelte of Columbus, Wis., and Charles Boelte of Kansas City, Mo. AUGUST BOESELAGER cemetery #82 August Boeselager To Be Buried Thursday Afternoon. After an illness of about a year’s duration, August Boeselager aged 66, passed away at home at Seventh and St. Paul streets at 8:30 Monday evening. The deceased was born in the town of Schleswig, near Rockville, on August 30, 1872. In 1901 he was united in marriage with Miss Martha Brocker, to the couple took possession of the cheese factory on Highway 32, which he had built. In 1904 he sold the factory and moved to Chilton in 1910. From there they moved to this city where he was employed at the Kiel Wooden Ware Co. until 1920, when they moved to Kohler, where they resided until 1930, and then moved back this city. Survivors are his wife; 2 sons, Harvey of Belgium, and Angus of Sheboygan Falls. One daughter died in infancy, and a son, Chester passed away October 27, 1927 at the age of 20. Other survivors are: Three brothers, Fred of Hilbert, Edward of this city, and Louis of Sheboygan; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held, today (Thursday) at 2 p. m. at the C J. CHESTER BOESELAGER cemetery #82 Many Attend C. Boeselager Funeral Here Impressive funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Kohler and here for Chester Boeselager, son of Mr. and Mrs. August Boeselager, who died at the home of his parents at Kohler at 10:30 p.m. Saturday. He had been ill several weeks with pneumonia. Chester Frederick Edward Boeselager was born in Chilton March 7, 1907. Shortly after, his parents moved with the family to Kiel, where they made their home for some years, moving finally to Kohler several years ago, where Mr. Boeselager is now employed. Chester attended high school here for two years, and for the past two years had been employed in the Wooden Ware factory. He was a member of the Kiel Junior band and the local lodge of the Redmen, besides being a member of two bowling leagues. He is survived by his parents, and two brothers, Harvey at Kiel, and Anges at home with his father and mother. Funeral sevices were held at the Boeselager home in Kohler at 2 p.m. Monday, with the Kiel Junior band and the Redmen in attendance. From Kohler the funeral procession came to Kiel, where interment was made in the local cemetery. The Rev. Otto Saewert performed the last rites. Pall bearers were Harvey Kasten, Lester Mattes, Fred Zarnoth, Albert Huberty, Ray Voelker, and Eldred Voland. During the afternoon the Wooden Ware factory closed in order to allow the employes to attend the last rites. - 1927


CHRISTINA BOESELAGER cemetery #82 Mrs. Edward Boeselager, 84, died at the Two Rivers hospital Monday afternoon. She had been a patient there since March 20, when she suffered a stroke near her home here. The former Christina Brocker was born in the Town of Chilton, Calumet County, September 12, 1877, daughter of the late Carl and Elizabeth Lechler Brocker. The family later moved to the Town of Eaton and Miss Brocker was married to Edward Boeselager November 23, 1896. The couple farmed in the Town of Schleswig and moved to Kiel in 1916. Mr. and Mrs. Boeselager observed the 60th anniversary of their wedding in 1956. Her husband died in June of 1960. Mrs. Boeselager was a member of the church Frauen Verein and GUG Germania Lodge. Surviving are a son, Ervin of Two Rivers; two sisters, Mrs. George Bosma of Rt. 1, Kiel, and Mrs. Herman Sievert of Kiel; two brothers, Fred of Kiel and Arthur of New Holstein; three grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. CLARA BOESELAGER cemetery #84 From Der Nord Westen, 17 Oct. 1895: (From the correspondent in Kiel, 15 Oct.) Death of Miss Clara Boeselager, daughter of Dietrich Boeselager, a few days ago, of gallstones. An operation was performed by Drs. H. Schaper of Kiel and his brother, of Franklin, but she could not be saved. She was her father's only daughter and will be buried tomorrow in Rockville Cemetery near her mother.


DIEDERICH BOESELAGER (d. 1915) cemetery #84 On Saturday morning at the home of his son Friedrich in Hilbert, Mr. Diedrich Boselager, one of the pioneers of Town Schleswig died at the age of 89 years, a day before his birthday, due to old age. The deceased was born on October 17, 1826 in Oldenburg, Germany and grew to manhood there. At the age of 21 years he enlisted as a soldier and took part in the war against Denmark, serving until the end in 1850. In 1852 he immigrated to America and acquired his homestead near Rockville. A while later he married Catharine Suhr, and they both were willing to take on the pioneer life and its costs and benefits. In 1863 his wife died, leaving him with two sons. Later he married Wible Asmus and this marriage was blessed with seven sons and two daughters. In 1892 his second wife died. Four sons from the second marriage, Eduard, Friedrich, August and Louis survive him. The body was brought to Kiel and on Tuesday from his son Eduard’s home to the Rockville Cemetery for his final rest. Mr. Wm. Broeckert gave the funeral oration. The Arion Band and the German War Veterans Association, of which he was a member, gave their comrade an honor escort to the grave. Kiel Record - 1915


EDWARD BOESELAGER cemetery #82 Edward Boeselager, 87 of 720 7th Street, Kiel, died Sunday afternoon, at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital, where he had been a patient since Tuesday evening. Born Aug. 30, 1872, in the Town of Schleswig, he was a son of the late Mrs. and Mrs. Carl Boeselager, received his education in the district school at Rockville, and married Christina Brocker on Nov. 23, 1896. She was a resident of the Town of Eaton. The couple operated several farms in the Town of Schleswig until 1916 when they moved to Kiel where he was employed at the Kiel Wooden Ware Co. until 1942 when he retired. They observed their 60th wedding anniversary in 1956. Survivors include his wife; a son, Ervin of Two Rivers; three grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren, and a brother, Louis, of Sheboygan. A daughter, Hilda, died in 1915. Two brothers and one sister also preceded him in death. He was a member of St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed Church in Kiel and the Brotherhood of the church. MARTHA BOESELAGER Mrs. August Boeselager of Kiel passed away early Monday morning at Mercy hospital in Oshkosh following a lengthy illness. She was born in Town Schleswig on September 9, 1884, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Brocker. In 1901 she was married to August Boeselager. The couple operated a cheese factory in Town Eaton for three years and then moved to Chilton where they operated a tavern. They remained in Chilton until 1910. From 1910 to 1920 they resided in Kiel and during the following ten years were residents of Kohler. They returned to Kiel in 1930. Mr. Boeselager died in 1939. The deceased was a member of the Kiel G.U.G. Germania lodge. The survivors are; two sons, Hervey of Route 1, Plymouth, and Angus of Oshkosh; five grandchildren; two brothers, Fred and Arthur of Kiel; four sisters, Mrs. Edward Boeselager of Kiel; Mrs. Louis Haese of Reedsville, Mrs. Herman Siebert of Kiel and Mrs. George Bosma of Town Eaton. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son, one daughter, one brother and a sister. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed church by the Rev. E. L. Worthman. Burial will be made in the Kiel Cemetery. MARY ELLEN BOESELAGER cemetery #89D Mary Ellen Boeselager, age 70, of Two Rivers, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002 at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, Jan. 25, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass will be the Rev. Larry Seidl. In accordance with Mary Ellen’s wishes, her body was donated to the UW Medical School at Madison. Her cremated remains will be buried at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers, at a later date. Mary Ellen was born on July 17, 1931 in Two Rivers, daughter of the late August and Mae Cain Nauman. She attended St. Mary’s Springs Academy in Fond du Lac, Wis., graduating with the class of 1949. On Sept. 2, 1950, Mary Ellen married James Boeselager at St. Mark Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Survivors include her husband, James Boeselager, Two Rivers; one son and daughter-in-law; five daughters and four sons-in-law; 10 grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including her special bridge playing friends. Mary Ellen was also preceded in death by an infant sister. The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, Jan. 25, 2002 at St. Mark Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. The family extends their heart-felt thanks to the entire staff of Aurora Medical Center for the kindness, care, and concern given to Mary Ellen, especially in the ICU and the Respiratory Unit Therapists.
