INGEBORG MARIE AASTAD cemetery #2 Funeral services for Miss Ingeborg M. Aastad of 710 Pine St., Manitowoc, who died Wednesday morning at the home of her niece, Miss Hazal Aslakson, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, the Rev. Roland L. Schwandt officiating. Burial will be in the Gjerpen Evangelical Lutheran Church, Valders. Miss Aastad was 84. Miss Aastad was born June 24, 1874, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Christian and Martha Skogan Aastad. In 1905 she moved to Evanston, Ill., where she resided until 1920 when she moved to California. She returned to Manitowoc in 1954 to make her home with Miss Aslakson. Miss Aastad was a masseuse by profession. Miss Aastad was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women's Club. Surviving are the niece and nephew, Clifford Aastad, of Green Bay. ISAAC AASTAD cemetery #44 Isaac Aastad, 72, retired commercial salesman, died today at the home, 1104 North Eighth street. His health had failed since the death of his wife two months ago. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 pm from the home and at two o’clock from the First Lutheran church, of which Mr. Aastad was a member. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery. Mr. Aastad was born in Bamle, Norway, in 1865 and when a boy came to America with his parents in 1871. The family located in this city. He attended the public schools of the city and in 1884 entered the employ of the O. Torrison Company. He continued with the firm until 1909 when he joined the Manitowoc Seed company as a salesman. Mr. Aastad continued with this company until 1936, when he retired. Mr. Aastad was a member of old Company H in the early nineties. He was also a member of the United Commercial Travelers. In 1903 he married Miss Inga J. Gilbert. She died August 18 of this year. Survivors are a son, Clifford, Green Bay; two sisters, Miss Ingeborg M. Aastad, city, Mrs. H.C. Aslakson, Valders; and a granddaughter, Joan Aastad, Green Bay. The body will be moved to the Aastad home on North Eighth street Sunday morning from the Frazier mortuary. EMELIA ABBET cemetery #63 Mrs. Louis Abbet, 82, of Francis Creek, lifelong resident of the county, died Tuesday afternoon at the home of her son, Ferdinand, of route 5, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Urbanek and Schlei funeral home, and at 9 o'clock at the St. Ann Catholic church, Francis Creek, the Rev. Joseph Rauch officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Cross cemetery at Mishicot. She was born Emelie Mathey in Gibson in 1866 and in 1885 was married to Mr. Abbet in Mishicot. They located on a farm north of the village which they operated for 30 years and then moved to Francis Creek. The couple observed its 60th wedding anniversary in 1945. Survivors are the husband; two sons, Ferdinand of route 5 and Edward of Two Rivers; daughter, Mrs. Otto Blaha of Two Rivers; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Altar society of St. Ann Church. The body may be viewed at the funeral home after Friday noon, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday. FERDINAND ABBET cemetery #63 Ferdinand L. Abbet, 83, of Menasha Avenue, Manitowoc, died Thursday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where he had been a patient since April 25. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo Schmitt will officiate and burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mishicot. Mr. Abbet was born Feb. 6, 1886, in Town of Gibson, son of the late Louis and Amelia Mathey Abbet. He married Grace Najemnik at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mishicot, Nov. 11, 1910. She died Nov. 1, 1925. The couple had farmed in Town of Gibson 25 years before moving to Town of Manitowoc Rapids. Survivors are three daughters, Miss Mabel, Mrs. Joseph (Martha) Shimon and Mrs. Dan (Lucy) Sieracki, of Mantiowoc, a sister, Mrs. George Pieschel, of Two Rivers and six grandchildren. LILLIAN ABBET cemetery #89D YOUNG MOTHER TAKEN FRIDAY AT HER HOME Mrs. Earl Abbet, 29, Dies After Six Months Illness; Rites Monday Mrs. Earl Abbet, 29, nee Lillian Des Jarlais, former Lena resident, died Friday noon at her home here, 1412 18th street, following an illness of the past six months. Funeral services will be held from the Sacred Heart Catholic church Monday morning at 9 o'clock, with the Rev. Joseph Gabryszek officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery. The body is at the Klein and Stangel, Inc., funeral home where it may be viewed from 7 o'clock this evening. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 7:45 Sunday evening. Born in Lena Mrs. Abbet was born in Lena, Dec. 24, 1916, the daughter of the late George and Margaret Brouchoud Des Jarlais. She graduated from the Lena high school with the class of 1935 and in 1936, following the death of her mother, moved to Two Rivers with her father and other members of the family. Her father died here the past October. She was employed as a stenographer in the office of the Hamilton Manufacturing company here and later worked at the Paragon Electric company. She was married to Earl Abbet of this city at the Sacred Heart Catholic church, June 19, 1943, and the couple have made their home here ever since. She was a member of the auxiliary of the Eleven Gold Star Post No. 1248, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Leaves Baby Son Mrs. Abbet is survived by her husband and a son, eight months of age. AUGUST ABEL (d. 1927) cemetery #44 August Abel Passes Away Today, Aged 75 Death came to August Abel, pioneer settler and for thirty two years an employee of the Plumb and Nelson company at his home 885? N. Ninth street early this morning ending an illness of nearly a year, the last three weeks of which had confined him to his bed. Mr. Abel’s funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 from the home to the German Evangelical church of which he had been a member for fifty years. The Revs. Machmiller and Uetzmann will officiate. Burial will be at Evergreen. Mr. Abel was born in Germany, June 16, 1851, being 75 at death and he came to Manitowoc in 1869?/89? and had since made his home here. IDA ABEL (d. 1939) cemetery #44 Mrs. Ida Abel, 78, wife of Captain William Able, veteran of the Spanish-American war, died last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lottie Hatfield, of Park Falls, Wis., where Mr. and Mrs. Able have been residing the past year. She had been an invalid for 15 years. The body is to be brought to Manitowoc Wednesday and funeral services will be held from the Wattawa, Urbanek and Schlei fuenral home. Mrs. Abel, nee Ida Johnson, was born in Franklin, Kewaunee county in 1860 and in 1880 was married to Capt. William Abel of this city. They resided at 820 North Ninth street, in 1898, when the United States declard war against Spain Capt. Abel took the Manitowoc company to the south, but illness prevented him from accompanying the command to Puerto Rico. In 1930 Capt. and mrs. Abel observed their golden wedding anniversary. Survivors are the widower; one daughter, Mrs. Hutfield,of Park Falls, Wis.; two sons, Major Walter Abel of this city, Edwin, retired United States naval officer at Nice, Lake county, California; eight grand- children and two-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Edmund Olson will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 88, of Manitowoc. Mr. Abendschein was born May 18, 1894, at Neenah, son of the late Phillip and Caroline Kronberg Abendschein. He married Winifred Krainik in July of 1928 at Milwaukee. The couple located at Neenah until 1943 when they moved to Manitowoc. He had been employed as a welder at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., retiring in 1959. Mr. Abendschein was a veteran of World War I, serving in the Air Force. He was a charter member of the American Legion Hawley-Dieckhoff Post No. 33 of Neenah, which he helped organize. Mrs. Abendschein, nee Winifred Krainik, was born in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Frank and Amanda Hoffman Krainik. She was reared at Manitowoc, graduating from Central High School and Whitewater State University with a B.S. degree in business education. She taught school at Cambridge, Neenah, Reedsville and Mishicot. She was married to Edwin Abendschein July 23, 1928, at Milwaukee. They located at Neenah until 1943 when they moved to Manitowoc. Mr. Abendschein preceded her in death May 22, 1971. She was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist of Boston, Mass., Manitowoc Women's Club and American Association of Retired People. DAVID ABRAMOVICH cemetery #44 David Abramovich, age 83, 1632 S. 30th St., Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Thursday evening, March 18, 2010, at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center Manitowoc, where he resided since January of this year. David was born on March 27, 1926, In Kewaunee, Wis. He was the son of the late Walter and Libbie Romdenne Abramovich. David was a gradute of Kewaunee High School with the class of 1944. He served with the Merchant Marines for two years and then entered the United States Army. After his honorable discharge from the military, David returned to Manitowoc and was employed with Mirro Aluminum for 15 years and later Consumer Steel from where he retired in 1988. On Sept. 11, 1954, he married Dorothy Kalk in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death in 1986. He later married Sandra Zimmer in 1990, in Manitowoc. David was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran church. He is survived by his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law; one stepdaughter; one stepson; three grandchildren; one step- grandaughter; brother-in-law; sister-in-law (Survivors omitted for privacy.); along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Libbie Abramovich; his first wife, the former Dorothy Kalk; three sisters: Cecelia Miller, Agnes Moreau and Joan Lipsky Pagel; two brothers: Joseph Abramovich and A. CHARLES ACHENBACH cemetery #44 Charles Achenbach, 86, of 1002 N. 16th St., Manitowoc, died Monday after- noon at Family Heritage Nursing Home, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Theodore Sauer will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Achenbach was born March 27, 1884, at Manitowoc, son of the late Jacob and Elizabeth Krug Achenbach. He attended the First German Evangelical Lutheran Church. He married Mrs. Edith Hoover April 25, 1931. He farmed on the homestead farm at Alverno until 1947 when he moved to 42nd Street and Waldo Boulevard. He lived there until retiring in 1965. Mr. Achenbach was active in the community holding office in many farm organizations. He was chairman of the Manitowoc Rapids Town Board and was active on the Manitowoc County Board. He was one of the incorporators of the Manitowoc County Farm Bureau and served as its first president from 1942 to 1945. He was honored as Wisconsin Master Farmer in 1930. He was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church until 1957, when he became a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife; a step-son, a brother, Oscar Allerton, of Laguna Hills, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Edward (Ella) Meyers, of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A brother and five sisters preceded him in death. HENRY ACHENBACH cemetery #44 FORMER LOCAL MAN STRICKEN AT CHICAGO Henry Achenbach Dies From Apoplexy and Body will Be Brought Here A stroke, suffered early Sunday morning in his room at a Chicago home where he had lived for a number of years, resulted in the death of Henry Achenbach, a former local man who has lived at the metropolis for the last thirty-six years. His dead body was found within a few minutes after his demise and death was attributed to cerebral hemorrhage. The body will be brought to this city tomorrow, Tuesday, afternoon on the afternoon train over the Chicago and North Western and will be taken to the Vogelsang Undertaking rooms from where the services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be at Evergreen. Leaves Relatives Here Henry Achenbach was born at Manitowoc Rapids November 4, 1867 and was fifty- seven years old. He grew to manhood here and left for Chicago where he has been engaged in carpenter work for thirty-six years. He never married and is survived by his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Achenbach of Manitowoc Rapids, two brothers, Oscar of Chicago and Charles of Manitowoc Rapids, and six sisters, Mrs. John Verby, Mrs. Otto Cullman and Mrs. Ben Krisher of Chicago, Mrs. William Spiegel of Mishicot, Mrs. Herman Wlenke of Manitowoc Rapids and Mrs. Edward Meyers of this city. JACOB ACHENBACH cemetery #44 RAPIDS PIONEER LIVED ON SAME FARM 49 YEARS Jacob Achenbach Passes Away, Age 78 After 2 Yrs. of Suffering CAME TO COUNTY IN 1860—WAS WILDERNESS Jacob Achenbach, a pioneer resident of Rapids, who came here when Manitowoc was a wilderness, died at his home on the farm where he had resided continuously for forty nine years, last night. Mr. Achenbach’s death was due to cancer from which he had suffered for two years. Mr. Achenbach was 78 years of age, having been born in Germany May 5, 1839. He came to America in 1860 and located in Manitowoc county which in that day was but little populated. Mr. Achenbach often recalled the early pioneer days and the struggles which the early settlers made. In 1868 he was married and with his wife took up his residence on the farm which has since been their home. Besides his wife, Mr. Achenbach is survived by nine children, Henry, Mrs. Louise Verby, Mrs. Cullman and Oscar of Chicago; Mrs. Krischer of Philadelphia; Mrs. Spiegel of Mishicot; Mrs. Winke and Charles of Rapids; Mrs. Meyers of Cato. The funeral will be held Friday at 12:30 from the home and at 2 from the German Lutheran church in this city. Mr. Acker was born Dec. 18, 1887, at Plainwell, Mich., son of the late Andrew and Emma Hecker Acker. He married Flora E. Piehl September of 1933 at Chicago, Ill. Ackerman, 57, of 4102 Lowell St., Two Rivers, a Two Rivers Washington High School instructor in biology, died unexpectedly early Monday morning at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Emanuel United Methodist Church. The Rev. Karl F. Koch officiating. Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Kossuth. Mr. Ackerman was born Sept 4, 1915, at Kaukauna, son of the late Frank V. and Edith Post Ackerman. When he was two the family brought him to Madison where he attended public grade school and was graduated from Madison East High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and received his master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He taught for five years at Mishicot High School, at Menasha High School for one year, Mantiowoc County Teachers College for 22 years and was in his third year at the Two Rivers school. He married Elizabeth Johnson June 13, 1942, at Wisconsin Rapids. He was a member of Manitowoc Lodge No. 22, F. & A.M., and Manitowoc Chapter No. 196, Order of Eastern Star, of which he was a past worthy patron. He was also a member of American Federation of Teachers and the Phi Delta Kappa, Sigma Zeta and Sigma Tau Delta fraternities. PAUL ACKERMANN cemetery #43 HUSBAND DIES AS LAST RITES SAID FOR WIFE Paul Ackermann, 73, Passes Away This Morning While Funeral of Wife Being Held As the last funeral rites were being performed over the remains of his wife this morning at the St. Andrew's church in this city, Paul Ackermann, town of Newton pioneer, who has been in failing health for three months, passed away at the family homestead on Route 3. Mourners coming out from the church services for Mrs. Ackermann this morning were told that the husband had passed away just a few minutes before. Mrs. Ackermann, whose maiden name was Bertha Bauer, had been stricken suddenly last week, while attending her invalid husband and died after only a day's illness. Pioneer of Newton Mr. Ackermann was born in the town of Newton, Oct. 20, 1857 and has always made his home in the town. He was married to Bertha Bauer in 1878. One daughter, Mrs. Alois Holsbach, of this city and a son, Joseph, of Route 3, Manitowoc and two brothers, Henry Ackermann of Arizona and Joseph of this county, survive. Funeral services for Mr. Ackermann will take place on Wednesday morning at 8:30 from the homestead on Route 3 and at nine o'clock from the St. Andrew's Catholic church, with interment at Calvary cemetery. JACOB ADAM cemetery #83 CALLED BY DEATH Jacob Adam, an old settler of the town of Rhine, was called to his reward early Monday morning, death being due to the infirmities of old age. Mr. Adam was a native of Hessen Darmstadt, Germany, where he was born June 4, 1841. He married in 1866 to Katherine Becker, and the family came to America in 1879, settling in the town of Rhine, where the deceased lived continuously until his death. His wife passed away nine years ago. He is survived by six children, three sons and three daughters, as follows: Peter on the old homestead, Jacob in the town of Schleswig and John in the town of New Holstein, Mrs. George Nauth of Kiel, Mrs. Lizzie Mueller of Sheboygan and Mrs. Anna Kohloff of Wauwatosa. Twenty five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive him. The funeral was held Wednesday at 9 a.m., with services at St. Peter & Paul’s church, Rev. M. Rumpel officiating. GRACE A. ADAMS cemetery #44 Mrs. Grace Amelia Holmes Adams, age 101 years, passed away Wednesday morning, November 30, 2005 at Valentine Personal Care Home. She was born March 19, 1904 at Waterbury, CT, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Enright Holmes. On April 9, 1928 she was married to Thomas J. Adams who preceded her in death in 1954. Surviving is one son Thomas E. Adams of Silver Springs, MD; a daughter Marilyn M. Wolf of Elkins; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Adams received numerous citations for service from the Mental Health Association, Hospice, United Way and was Woman of the Year for Civic Service in Ft. Pierce, FL. She was Catholic by faith. At the request of the deceased her remains will be cremated. Interment of the cremains will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, WI at a later date. The former Johanna Reitbrock, she was born Sept. 1, 1892, in the town of Herman, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Bender Rietbrock. She attended district schools and, on Nov. 9, 1910, was married to Peter Adams of the town of Rhine. Prior to Mr. Adam's death in June, 1952, the couple operated the Adams homestead farm in the town of Rhine, six miles southeast of Kiel. Survivors include two daughters, Miss Leona Adams and Mrs. Reinhold (Roma) Dennerlin, of Sheboygan; six sons, Gilbert, Hubert, Wilber and Ver of the town of Russell, and Sgt. Earl Adams, in the armed forces, and six grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Alma Stauss, of the town of Herman, Mrs. Hilda Voecks, of Rockford, Ill., and Mrs. Erna Negley, of Columbus, Ohio, and two brothers, Arthur, of the town of Herman, and Louis, of Sheboygan. She was born Nov. 11, 1988, in Norway, Maine, daughter of Erick and Anne (King) Adams. Sarah was a graduate of Kiel High School Class of 2007. While at Kiel High School, she was involved in cross country, basketball and track. She currently was enrolled at Martin School of Cosmetology. Sarah was also employed at Riverbend in Kohler as a housekeeper. She was a member of Kiel Alliance church and in her free time enjoyed doing artwork. The family located in Chicago where he engaged in the bakery business. In 1900 he came to Manitowoc and opened a bakery and furniture business on Washington street. Forty- five years ago he completed a course in mechanotherapy and in 1916 returned to Sheboygan to establish a practice. He continued there until 1934 when he retired and came here to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. Dunning. Survivors are the widow, Mary Spencer Adams, four daughters, Mrs. Dunning, Mrs. Joseph Monka, Mrs. William Boeder, Mrs. C.O. Lewis, all of this city; three sons, Alexander and Samuel of this city, Thomas J. of Springfield, Mass.; 12 grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz, with the Rev. Frederick Dorn officiating. Burial will be in the Church cemetery. He was born Sept. 21, 1883, on a farm two miles east of the village, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alois Adelman. He married Miss Anna Wollersheim July 27, 1909, and engaged in farming. He was a member of the Holy Name Society. His wife died six months ago. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. James Torrison of Valders, Mrs. Elmer Rabe of rural route, Kiel, Mrs. Francis Hoben of Osman, Mrs. Wilmer Gruber of Silverton, Ore., and Mrs. Ronald Gruber of Visalia, Calif.; son, Alphons on the homestead farm; brother, Leo of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Wollersheim of Valders and Mrs. John Eigenberger of Sheboygan and ten grandchildren. NORMAN ADELMAN cemetery #21 Rites Held Wednesday for Norman Adelman Funeral services for Norman Adelman, 33, were held Wednesday morning from St. Gregory's church in St. Nazianz. Mr. Adelman died Saturday at St. Nicholas hospital. The Rev. Frederick Dorn, SDS, officiated at the requiem mass and burial was made in the church cemetery. He was born September 30, 1920, in the town of Eaton. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Adelman. He attended public school in Eaton and St. Gregory's parochial school in St. Nazianz. June 27, 1953, he married Miss Violet Dedering, town of Schleswig. They lived in the township where he was engaged in farming. He was a member of the Holy Name society of St. Gregory's church. Survivors include his wife; his parents; one brother and five sisters. THERESA ADELMAN cemetery #43 Funeral services for Mrs. Joseph Adelman, 79, of 2764 S. 19th St., Manitowoc, who died Thursday at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, were held at 10:15 a.m. this Saturday morning at Jens Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. John Hephner officated and burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Adelman, nee Theresa Notz, was born July 18, 1893, at Manitowoc, daughter of the late John and Theresa Thoms Notz. She attended schools in Manitowoc. She was married to Joseph Adelman in June of 1920. The couple farmed in Manitowoc County. Her husband preceded her in death in 1928. BYRDEVA ADELMANN cemetery #43 Byrdeva M. Adelmann, age 86, of 1702 S. 14th St., Manitowoc, died on Tuesday morning, April 22, 2008, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers. She was born on Nov. 7, 1921, in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Jack and Caroline (VanLannen) Allen. On May 10, 1941, she married Theodore Adelmann in Iowa. Byrdeva and Ted were co-owners of Adelmann Hauling in Manitowoc for many years. He preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 2000. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Manitowoc Eagles. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law; a daughter-in- law; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and five sisters: (Survivors omitted for privacy.) Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Byrdeva was prceded in death by her son: John Adelmann. She was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. He ran a truck farm near Manitowoc for fifteen years. He is survived by his wife, nee Miss Theresa Notz; five brothers, Louis of here, Peter of Milwaukee, William, George, and Lee of Manitowoc, and three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Wollersheim of Manitowoc Rapids, Mrs. Louis Elsenberger of Plymouth, and Mrs. John Elsenberger of Sheboygan. NORMAN K. ADERHOLD cemetery #89C Norman K. Aderhold, age 93, of Two Rivers, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2009, at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers. Norman was born on Jan. 12, 1916, in Athens, son of the late Herman and Lela Aderhold. He was a graduate of Athens High School, Marathon County Normal School, River Falls State Teacher's College, and received his Master's of Education degree from Superior State University. He was also a two year veteran of World War II, having served in the 4th Cavalry in the European Theatre. Norman served in Wisconsin public schools for 45 years, with four years in country schools of Marathon County. He spent 25 years teaching high school in Spooner, and 16 years in administration. Norm was active in Kiwanis since 1954, and was a member of Emanuel United Methodist Church. He loved to travel, play cards, hunt deer and fish on Lake Michigan. He is survived by his son, two daughters, seven grandchildren. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Doris; and his wife: Carol. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2009, at Emanuel United Methodist Church, 1218 Madison St., Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Sonia Alvarado. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Miss Adolph was born in Meeme in 1881, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Adolph. She was a member of the Rosary society of the St. Isadore's congregation and has been active in church and charitable work in the community for years. In fact Gertude was Franz’s second wife to have perished. His first wife Katharina Cornelius was the mother of Catherine & Casper, the two oldest siblings. PETER ADOLPH Peter Adolph, 69, town of Meeme farmer, died at St. Nicholas hospital in Sheboygan last night as the result of injuries he sustained in a tractor accident on his farm several weeks ago. The tractor was reported to have tipped over, causing internal injuries to Mr. Adolph. Funeral services will be held at 8:45 a.m. Monday at the Nennig funeral home, St. Wendell, and at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Isadore Catholic church at Osman, Rev. Robert Klein officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He was a member of the Holy Name society of the church. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. CLEMENT AHEARN cemetery #89D Clement (Mike) Ahearn, 56, of 2111 Monroe St., Two Rivers a member of one of Two Rivers earliest families and for a number of years a basketball official in the area, died of a heart attack at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital at noon Thursday. He had been in failing health for several months. Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Deja and Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers, and at 9 a.m. with a solemn requiem high Mass at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Celebrant will be a brother the Rev. Roland Ahearn, pastor of St. Augustine Church, Chilton, while the Revs. Adolph Dolezal and John McLaughlin, assistants at St. Luke, will be deacon and sub-deacon, respectively. He was one of the better known fliers of pigeons in the area, for many years was a basketball referee and participated also in amateur theatricals. He was an employe for 25 years in the Finishing Dept. at Hamilton Mfg. Co., Two Rivers, after being associated with the former M. Ahearn Grocery for a number of years. Besides his wife, the former Theresa Tadych, whom he married Sept. 2, 1930, at Sacred Heart Church, Manitowoc, he leaves a daughter, (private) of Two Rivers; a sister, Miss Martha Ahearn of Two Rivers; another brother, Raymond of Two Rivers, and three grandchildren. Ahl (DeBot), age 25, of 3029 County Highway Q, Manitowoc, formerly of Sheboygan, died early Saturday morning, Dec. 10, 2005, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Cindy was born on Jan. 29, 1970 in Manitowoc, daughter of Emma (Jasper) Ahl and the late James E. Ahl. She attended Manitowoc Lincoln High Scoool. Cindy was employed at Coeur Inc. in Sheboygan as an assembler of medical products until October of this year, at which time her illness prevented her from doing the job she loved. At the home of her son Peter in Newton, Mrs. Peter Ahl, Sr., died yesterday. Death was due to old age. Mrs. Ahl has been a resident of the town of Newton for more than fifty years, coming here direct from her native land, Germany. Her husband died sixteen years ago and since that time she has made her home with her only son. She was 82 years of age and was among Newton's best known pioneers. MATHILDA AHLSWEDE cemetery #37 Mrs. Edward Ahlswede, Sr., 75, died at her home at Rockwood, Town of Kossuth, Sunday morning at 9 o'clock following a heart attack. She had been in good health and death was unexpected. She was a life-long resident of Kossuth, born Dec. 25, 1863. Her maiden name was Mathilda Kiehn. She was married to Mr. Ahlswede Dec. 28, 1884. He died May 31, 1931. Survivors are three sons, Louis E. of Chicago, Edward and Richard of Kossuth, two sisters, Mrs. Julius Behrman, Kewaunee county, and Mrs. August Affeld, 1316 S. 13th street, Manitowoc, and three grandchildren. One son, Hugo V., died in Milwaukee in 1931. The body will lie in state at the Pfeffer Funeral home until 10 a.m. Tuesday when it will be removed to the Kossuth Baptist church. The Rev. AHRENS cemetery #44 Harrison Ahrens, Son of August Ahrens, Dies at Camp Custer Today— Was 28 Years Old Messages received in the city this afternoon brought news of the death of another Manitowoc county boy for his country and the service star in the flag at the home of August Ahrens, on route No. 6, this city, has been turned to gold. Harrison Ahrens, 28, died at Camp Custer, Michigan at noon today, following an attack of illness which he suffered recently and which summoned his father to Camp Custer yesterday. The boy’s death is believed to have been due to pneumonia. The body will be brought to this city for burial, accompanied by the father, who reached Camp Custer this morning and who sent the message of the death of his son to Rev. Schellhase to break the news to the bereaved mother. Harrison Ahrens, hero, though he never faced the German guns, left here on April 27 with a contingent from the First district. He is survived by his parents and sisters and brothers, one of the latter being in the naval service. The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at the German M.E. church, Rev. Ahrndt, age 96, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, formerly of Two Rivers, died early Wednesday morning, Oct. 4, 2006, at Shady Lane Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. William G. O'Brien, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Two Rivers. Beatrice was born Aug. 5, 1910, in West Kewaunee, a daughter of the late Francis and Frances (Tremmel) Cherney. She married George H. Ahrndt on Oct. 8, 1929, at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. He preceded her in death May 30, 1989. Beatrice worked in the bakery department at Stegemann's Grocery Store, and later Sentry Foods, for many years. Beatrice and George enjoyed dancing, and were members of the Happy Hoppers Club. Beatrice was also a longtime member of the Ladies of Holy Redeemer, and she loved working in her yard and gardening. (Survivors omitted for privacy) In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son: James; and by eight brothers and sisters: Anna Wienand, Mary Cherney, Frances Stodola, Charles, James, Joseph, Edward and John Cherney. Ahrndt, 80, of 2812 School St., Two Rivers, retired millwright at Plant No. 1 of Mirro Aluminum Co., Two Rivers, died late Friday afternoon at his home after a six months illness. Funeral services will be at 9:30am Monday at Deja and Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers and at 10am with a solemn requiem high Mass at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Two Rivers with the Rev. J.K. Mueller the celebrant. Deacon and sub-deacon will be the Revs. John Feeney and Bernard Geimer. The Schmitt Brothers Quartet will sing at the service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Two Rivers. Mr. Arndt was born in the Town of Two Rivers April 11, 1880, son of the late Christian and Sophia Schroeder Ahrndt. He attended Tannery Schools and when he was a young man came to Two Rivers and learned the carpenter trade. For a number of years he was employed by the late contractor Alwin M. Krause. For 33 years up to his retirement he was a millwright at the Mirro firm. He was a member of Equitable Reserve Assn. the 25 Year Club of Mirro, the Golden Agers and the Holy Name Society of Holy Redeemer parish. Surviving are his wife, the former Nellie Koch, whom he married at Two Rivers July 11, 1905; three daughters, Mrs. George Woida and Mrs. Warren Proper of Manitowoc and Mrs. Howard Wolf of Two Rivers; three sons, Hugo of the Town of Two Rivers and George and Joseph of Two Rivers; two sisters, Mrs. William Waskow of Two Rivers and Mrs. Reinhold Nemitz of Racine; a brother John of Menominee, Mich., 19 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
