HERMAN E. BRUCKSCHEN Manitowoc Herald Times: "Obituaries: Bruckschen" 24 Mar 1969 (Monday) Herman E. Bruckschen, 80, of Cleveland, died Saturday afternoon at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient the past five weeks. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John and St. Peter Lutheran Church, Cleveland, with the Rev. Henry F. Koch officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Town of Centerville. Mr. Bruckschen was born March 21, 1889, in the Town of Newton, son of the late Henry and Sophie Lemke Bruckschen. He married Emma Leiteritz Dec. 18, 1915, and the couple farmed at Centerville until moving to Cleveland in 1945. He was a member of St. John and St. Peter Lutheran Church. A brother, a sister and a granddaughter preceded him in death. Survivors include the wife; two sons, two daughters, two brothers, two sisters, 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Friends may call after 4 o'clock this Monday afternoon at Stoltenberg Funeral Chapel, Cleveland, until 11 a.m. Tuesday and then at church from noon until the time of services. IDA SOPHIA MARIA BULL From Der Nord Westen, 04 June 1896: Death Sun. of the 19-yr. old daughter of Johann Bull, who resides 1/2 mile north of the Village of Centerville. The deceased, who died of a stroke, was buried yesterday in the cemetery of the Lutheran Congregation of Centerville.

CARL GOTTLIEB FISCHER From Der Nord Westen, 14 Feb. 1895: (From the correspondent in Centerville, 11 Feb.) Death last Fri. of the aged Mrs. Fischer in the home of Mr. Boermke. She is survived by her husband as well as her adopted daughter, who is the wife of Mr. Boermke. Then on Mon. evening, 11 Feb., her husband Carl Gottlieb Fischer followed her in death at age 88. Burial will be Fri. afternoon.

CHRISTINE FISCHER From Der Nord Westen, 14 Feb. 1895: (From the correspondent in Centerville, 11 Feb.) Death last Fri. of the aged Mrs. Fischer in the home of Mr. Boermke. She is survived by her husband as well as her adopted daughter, who is the wife of Mr. Boermke. Then on Mon. evening, 11 Feb., her husband Carl Gottlieb Fischer followed her in death at age 88. Burial will be Fri. afternoon.

FRIEDRICH W.J. JAEGER From Der Nord Westen, 05 Mar. 1896: (From the correspondent in Centerville, 03 Mar.) Death last Wed., 26 Feb., of 42 yr. old Fritz Jaeger, in his brother’s home. The unmarried man is also survived by his father and several sisters. The young man died of gastric trouble. Burial was Sun. afternoon at the Lutheran Cemetery.

HUGO JAEGER DROWNS AT CEDAR LAKE Cedar Lake was the scene of a drowning accident last Sunday, which caused the death of Hugo Jaeger, 25 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. William Jaeger of the town of Centerville. The young man, in company with his father, and mother, brothers and sisters and three other families from the town of Centerville had come to Cedar Lake in the morning to spend the entire day at a family gathering. According to information at the lake, Jaeger had been in swimming for about three hours in the morning and again went swimming immediately after eating a hearty dinner. He, in company with his brother, Clarence, had been in the water but a short time when he was heard calling for help. He soon disappeared after nearly taking his brother, who sought to rescue him, to the lake bottom with him. He was taken from the water within a few minutes by parties who dove for him. Resuscitation efforts by the Boy Scouts, Dr. Belinski of Manitowoc, and Dr. Knauf of Kiel failed to revive him. The brothers were swimming from a raft close to the shore, but where the water reaches quite a depth. Hundreds of people were at or about the lake at the time of the accident. The young man was 25 years of age on March 9, 1926 being born in the town of Centerville in 1901. In addition to his parents he is survived by a sister, Adelheit at home and three brothers, Walter at Milwaukee and Paul and Clarence at home. For two years he had attended the University of Wisconsin where he was taking a course in agriculture. Funeral services will be held at the late home at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, and at St. John’s and St. Peter’s Lutheran church at Cleveland. The Rev. Ph. Sprengling will officiate and burial will be make in what is known as the Kassa Cemetery.

JUSTINE JAEGER From Der Nord Westen, 12 Apr. 1900: Death 07 Apr. in Town Centerville of Mrs. Justine Jaeger nee Luecke, wife of Herman Jaeger, of stomach cancer. She was born in Town Centerville in 1858 and reached the age of 41 yrs. 8 mos. 10 days. She married her surviving husband in 1882, and in addition to him leaves 6 children. The funeral was held Tues. afternoon at the Kassa Cemetery.

ALBERT JACOBI From Der Nord Westen, 19 Sep. 1901: Death last week in Town Centerville of Albert Jacobi, eldest son of Fred Jacobi, after a long illness. The funeral was Sat.

FRANZ JACOBI From Der Nord Westen, 31 Dec. 1903: Death in Centerville on 24 Dec. from dropsy of 51-yr. old Frank Jacobi. He leaves his sorrowing father, 2 brothers and a sister. The funeral was Saturday.

FRITZ JACOBI From Der Nord Westen, 26 Apr. 1906: Death Saturday of 55-year old Fred Jacobi who lives near Village Centerville. The cause of death was a curious one. Mr. jacobi had an abscess for some time which he tried to open on Saturday. In the process he fell ill, lockjaw set in and he died a few hours later. Mr. Jacobi was an elderly, well-thought of resident of Town Centerville. He leaves a widow and several children.

JOHANN G. JACOBI From Der Nord Westen, 03 Mar. 1904: Death during the night of 21 Feb. in Centerville from a lung illness, of Johann Gottlob Jacobi on the farm of his son Fritz. He was born 04 Aug. 1822 in the Kingdom of Saxony, came to America in 1852 and first settled on a farm in Town Wilson, Sheboygan County. In 1863 he moved to Town Centerville where he remained until his death. His wife predeceased him in 1890, and of their 7 children, 3 are still living, namely, Fritz and Richard in Town Centerville, and Emma, who is married and living in Iowa. In addition he is survived by 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The deceased was an upstanding citizen of Town Centerville and during the war served with the 45th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment. The funeral was held 25 Feb. at the Kassa Church cemetery.

WALTER HERBERT JACOBI From Der Nord Westen, 23 July 1896: (From the correspondent in Centerville, 21 July) Death Sat. noon of 2-yr. old Walter Jakobi, a son of our town father Mr. Fritz Jakobi, of convulsions. The funeral took place Tues. morning at the St. Johannes Cemetery in Town Centerville, conducted by Pastor Sprengling.

HELENE KASSA From Der Nord Westen, 27 Apr. 1899: Death claimed the life of Miss Helene Kassa on Sun. morning, 23 Apr. She was only 19 yrs. of age and was the daughter of Wenzel Kassa in Town Centerville. The funeral was led by Pastor Sprengling on Wed. afternoon at the Lutheran Cemetery.

SOPHIE KONO From Der Nord Westen, 24 Oct. 1907: Death in Centerville of Mrs. W. Kono on 16 October from a heart attack. The deceased was born 16 February 1822 in Mecklenburg. The funeral was held Friday.

MATHILDA LEITERITZ From Der Nord Westen, 11 July 1901: Death Thurs. in Centerville of Mrs. Frank Leiteritz after a 1-1/2 yr. illness. She was born in 1869 and is survived by her husband and 2 children. The funeral was held Sun.

MARIA A. LEONHARDT From Der Nord Westen, 19 Feb. 1903: Mrs. John Leonhardt died of old age debility Tues. last week at her son CARL’s farm located near Centerville. The deceased was born 27 Aug. 1823 in Mecklenburg, married in 1857, and came to America in 1861 settling on a farm here. 4 of their sons are still living. Her funeral was held Thurs. at the Lutheran Church Cemetery north of Centerville, conducted by Rev. Sprengling.

FRIEDERIKE LEUTERITZ From Der Nord Westen, 11 May 1899: Death Mon. evening of Mrs. Carl Leiteritz(sic) after a long illness with cancer. She leaves her husband and two grown children who live in Town Centerville. Her age was given to us as 51.

IDA MILL From Der Nord Westen, 30 Mar. 1899: Death Wed. last week in Cleveland of Miss Ida Mill, daughter of Carl Mill, at age almost 20. Her parents and two sisters mourn her early death.

J.G. HUGO MILL From Der Nord Westen, 17 Oct. 1895: Hugo Mill, son of Gottlieb Mill of Centerville, died early on the morning of 11 Oct. after a long illness. He was born 18 Nov. 1866. His casket was buried Sun. in the family plot in the Lutheran Cemetery of Town Centerville. The funeral cortege was at least a mile long and gave witness to the affection with which the deceased was held. The Centerville Fire Company followed the hearse on foot since Hugo had been a long time member and twice served as captain. The Centerville Germania Chorus, to which Hugo also belonged, was unable to follow the casket because too many members were absent. Pastor Sprengling delivered the funeral oration. The deceased had his life insured for $1,000 which sum he had bequeathed to his ill sister. In addition to his parents, he is survived by 3 brothers and 2 sisters, another sister having died several years ago.

LINA W. MILL From Der Nord Westen, 02 July 1903: Death Tues. of 19-yr. old Lena Mill in the local Holy Family Hospital following a short illness. She was the daughter of Cleveland, Manitowoc County, resident Charles Mill. The body was taken to Cleveland for burial.

REGINA MILL From Der Nord Westen, 16 Apr. 1896: (From the correspondent in Centerville, 15 Apr.) Death last Wed. afternoon of widow Regina Mill, known as “Mother” Mill, in the home of her son Gottlieb Mill in the village of Centerville. She was born 09 July 1813 in Hauswalde, East Prussia, and married in 1822(sic), (probably should be 1832), with Johann Daniel Mill who died 25 Apr. 1861. The family came to Centerville in 1851. The marriage produced 5 sons and 3 daughters, of whom 1 son and 1 daughter predeceased their mother. The funeral took place last Sat. in the St. Johannes Church conducted by Pastor Philipp Sprengling.

AUGUST P. REINEMANN From Der Nord Westen, 26 Sep. 1901: Death from consumption on Fri. in Town Centerville of August Reinemann, son of Christoph Reinemann. The deceased, who was born 02 Jan. 1878 in Town Centerville, leaves 9 sisters in addition to his parents. The funeral was held Mon. afternoon.

F. WILLIE REINEMANN From Der Nord Westen, 07 Aug. 1902: 18-yr. old Wilhelm Reinemann died Sat. in a Sheboygan hospital from a spinal inflammation. He was the son of Town Centerville resident Christian Reinemann. His funeral was held Tues. afternoon at the Lutheran Cemetery in the Cleveland vicinity.

PAULINE SCHEFFLER From Der Nord Westen, 14 June 1900: Death Sun. in Town Centerville of Miss Pauline Scheffler of peritonitis. She was born 15 June 1883. The funeral was held Tues. at the Kassa Cemetery.

HERMAN SCHUETTE From Der Nord Westen, 02 Sept. 1897: Death Thurs. in Town Centerville of Hermann Schuette, of cholera. He had fallen ill to the disease some years ago and for the last 10 yrs. has been unable to leave the house. He reached the age of 66 and leaves his widow and 1 son in good circumstances. The funeral took place last Sat. at the Lutheran Cemetery, with Pastor Sprengling officiating.

JOHN SIGGELKOW From Der Nord Westen, 01 Oct. 1903: Death from a heart attack in Centerville on Tues. last week of John Siggelkow at the age of 73 yrs. 7 mos. 7 days. The deceased, who came to America from Mecklenburg in 1859, settled in Village Centerville where he has lived ever since. He served the latter part of the Civil War in Company ‘B’ of the 45th Wisconsin Regiment. He leaves a widow, a brother and a sister. The funeral was held Friday.

F. AUGUST ZEITLER From Der Nord Westen, 28 May 1896: (From the correspondent in Centerville, 27 May) Death Sun., 24 May, of 36 yr. old August Zeidler of lower abdominal inflammation. Mr. Zeidler got married about 3 yrs. ago and took over the farm of his father, John Zeidler. He is survived by his parents, his sisters, and a grieving widow with 2 small children. The funeral took place Wed. afternoon at St. Johannes Cemetery, conducted by Pastor Sprengling.

WALTER ZIMMERMANN Sheboygan Press October 29, 1984 (edited for living people) Walter F. Zimmermann, 75, of 12030 Lakeshore Road, Cleveland, died Saturday at St. Nicholas Hospital, after a lengthy illness. He was born in the Town of Herman, on Jan. 19, 1909, a son of Louis and Louisa (Olm) Zimmermann. He graduated from Kiel High School and Sheboygan Business College. On Sept. 6, 1934, he was married to Lydia Schuette at St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland. Before he was married, Mr. Zimmermann worked at Kohler Co. for six years. After marriage, they lived in the Town of Centerville where they farmed until he retired in 1969. He was a member of St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland, served on the church council and as president of the congregation. He had been on the school board of the Maple Leaf School in the Town of Centerville and had served as director of St. John Cemetery in the town. He helpd organize and was a member of the Cleveland Senior Citizens Club. He is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, two sisters, seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and two great-step-grandchildren. Four brothers preceded him in death. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland. The Rev. Henry F. Koch, pastor officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. A memorial fund for St. John and St. Peter Church and St. Nicholas Hospital dialysis center has been established in Mr. Zimmermann's name.
