FRANCES BARTA Mrs. Frances Barta, 82, of Reedsville, died Sunday evening at the Manitowoc Health Care Center. Funeral services will be at 9:45 a.m. Thursday at Reedsville Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic church, Reedsville. The Rev. John Neuser will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Barta, nee Frances Kubale, was born Feb. 1, 1891, in the Town of Rockland, daughter of the late Albert and Anna Kajek Kubale. She was married to Wencel Barta in August of 1911 at Reedsville. Her husband preceded her in death. Mrs. Barta was a charter member of the St. Ann Christian Mothers Society and also a member of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin. Survivors include a son, James, of Deorrigan, of Campbellsport, Wis., a sister, Mrs. John Ditmer, of Kewaunee, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Two sons preceded her in death. WENZEL BARTA Wenzel F. Barta, 80, of Reedsville died at his home Thursday shortly before noon after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at the Reedsville Funeral Home and at 9:30 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Reedsville with the Rev. William Koutnik officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Barta was born Feb. 1, 1878, at Chicago and came to Reedsville in 1905 with his mother. On Aug. 2?, 1911, he married the former Miss Frances Kubale. They made their home in Reedsville. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of the St. Mary Catholic Church of Reedsville and the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin. Survivors include his wife a daughter, Mrs. Bernard Lorrigan of Campbellsport; a son, James, at home; and two sisters, Mrs. Julia Millhaus and Mrs. Katherine Jonas, both of Gillett. DANIEL BETHKE Daniel Bethke, 73, former Reedsville resident, died unexpectedly of a heart attack Sunday morning while on his way to church in the Town of Morrison, Brown County. Funeral services will be at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at Reedsville Funeral Home and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Reedsville. The Rev. William Koutnik officiated and burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Bethke was born Nov. 9, 1886, in the Town of Maple Grove, Manitowoc county, son of the late Peter and Catherine Pieschel Bethke. He never married and two years ago went to live with a brother, Peter, in the Town of Morrison. He was a member of Holy Name Society of St. Mary Church. Surviving are two brothers, Peter of Morrison and Michael of Sherwood; and two sisters, Miss Julia Bethke and Mrs. Steve Spatchek of Reedsville. A brother William, died in February of this year. MARTIN F. BRUNNER Martin F. Brunner, 64, of 138 Pine St., Brillion, died Tuesday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. He was born March 4, 1912 at Osman, a son of Frank and Mary Boganschitz Brunner. On Feb. 16, 1952 he married Lillian Kubale at Reedsville. He was employed at Brillion Iron Works until retiring in 1973. Mr. Brunner was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Brillion, and the Brillion American Legon Post. He was a veteran of World War II. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) CHARLES BURICH (d. 1945) Charles Burich, 62, former ship yard worker, died Sunday at his home in Brillion, following a lingering illness. He was born in 1883 at Rockland, this county, and in 1914 married Miss Mary Jerabek, and they located at Brillion. Mr. Burich was a carpenter by trade and worked for three years at the Manitowoc Ship Building company before being taken ill. He was a member of the St. Marys church of Brillion and the Holy Name society. Survivors are his wife; two sons, Cpl. Joseph at St. Joseph, Mo., John at home; five daughters, Mrs. George Kanter and Mrs. Raymond Orth of this city, Mrs. John Gosz of Chicago, Mrs. Raymond Grasser of Grays Lake, Ill., Alyce at home; two brothers, Dr. S.J. Burich of Indianapolis, John of Brillion; five sisters, Mrs. Charles Krizensky of Rice Lake, Mrs. Mary Hlavachek and Mrs. Frances Dvorachek of Reedsville, Antoinette of Brillion, Mrs. Gust Gutsch of Indiana; and 11 grandchildren. MARY BURICH (d. 1939) Mrs. Frank Burich, 71, nee Mary Etzler, died yesterday at her home, a mile north of Reedsville. Death resulted from a heart ailment. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from the home of her son, Adolph, town of Maple Grove, and at 9:30 from the St. Mary's church in Reedsville. Burial will be made in the church cemetery. Mrs. Burich was born November 7, 1867 in the town of Cato. She was married January 20, 1891 to Frank Burich. The couple lived for 21 years in Rockland on a farm near Reedsville and then for another 21 years on a farm in the town of Maple Grove, now owned and operated by a son, Adolph. For the next two years Mr. and Mrs. Burich lived in Reedsville. Four years ago they purchased and moved to the Walter Krueger farm near that village. Survivors include Mr. Burich; four sons, Adolph of the town of Maple Grove, Charles of Antigo, Edward of Reedsville and Roman at home; a sister, Mrs. Charles Steinfest of Antigo; and six grandchildren. The body will lie at the home of Adolph Burich until the time of the services Thursday. Tonight and Wednesday the St. Ann's Altar Society will recite the rosary at the Burich home. MELISSA CAVANAUGH Melissa Cavanaugh, one-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cavanaugh, of Rt. 2, Cato, died Monday morning at home of influenza pneumonia. RAYMOND J. DENOR Raymond Denor, 47, of Rt. 2, Reedsville, died Friday morning at his home of a heart attack. Mr. Denor was born March 29, 1915, in the Town of Franklin, son of the late Peter J. and Catherine Wagner Denor. He married Anna Wattawa Zimmermann July 19, 1947. He farmed in the Town of Rockland and also was employed at Pauly Cheese Co., Green Bay. He was in military service from Aug. 11, 1942 to March 12, 1946 in the European Theater. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary Church and Reedsville-Wayside Sportsman’s Club. Survivors include his wife, two daughters, four brothers, Peter and Herbert of Brillion, John of Whitelaw and Arthur of Denmark and five sisters, Mrs. Paul Massen and Mrs. Frank Bender of Manitowoc, Mrs. Michael Mangin of Rt. 1, Cato, Mrs. Adolph Raschke of Brillion and Mrs. Robert Belinski of Denmark. LOUIS A. ENDERS Louis A. Enders, age 78, of the Calumet Homestead, New Holstein, passed away Friday, March 12, 1993 at Calumet Medical Center, Chilton. He was born July 23, 1914 in St. Cloud, son of the late John and Catherine (Wagner) Enders. He married Ottilia Lisowe on June 13, 1936 in Milwaukee. She preceded him in death on Nov. 25, 1970. He then married Loretta Kohlmann on April 5, 1975. She preceded him in death June 13, 1989. He owned and operated Enders Restaurant in Milwaukee for many years. He also owned the 7 corners tavern in New Holstein and farmed in the Cato area. He also owned and operated Enders Bar and Grill in Collins and the Chilton Hotel. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church Reedsville and the Reedsville Lions Club. He is survived by three daughters, seven grandchildren: six great-grand- children; one step grandson, one step-daughter and her husband, two sisters Rose Hull, New Holstein, and Kathryn Nehs, Milwaukee; tow brothers: Al Enders, Oconto and John Enders, St. Cloud. He was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Reedsville with the Rev. Nicholas Johannes officiating. OTTILIA ENDERS The funeral Mass for Mrs. Louis Enders, 51, Reedsville, who died Wednesday in Holy Family Hospital at Manitowoc after a long illness, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary Catholic Church, Reedsville. The Rev. Adolph Dolezel, pastor, will be celebrant, with burial in the parish cemetery. Mass will follow 10:15 family rites at the Reedsville Funeral Home. Friends may call there after 4 p.m. today. The former Ottelia Lisowe, she was born at Jericho, March 22, 1919, a daughter of Mrs. Rose Leitner Lisowe and the late Peter Lisowe. She was married to Mr. Enders, June 13, 1936, in Milwaukee. The couple had lived in the Reedsville area for many years. She is survived by her husband; her mother, Kiel; three daughters, six sisters, Mrs. Hugh Herzog and Mrs. Loretta Kohlmann, both of Chilton, Mrs. Lester Konz of Kiel, Mrs. Hugh Graf of Plymouth, Mrs. Sylvester Abler of St. Cloud and Mrs. Barbara Mihm of Mount Calvary, and two brothers, Alvin Lisowe, Brothertown, and Leander, Kiel, and four grandchildren. LEONA I. FOYTIK Leona I. Foytik, age 86, formerly of Reedsville, died on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. She was born on Jan. 26, 1922, in Greenleaf, daughter of the late Frank and Caroline (Tikalsky) Kabat. She was married to Frank Foytik on Jan. 27, 1942, in Greenleaf. Leona was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and had a special love for her great-grand- children. She enjoyed baking, cooking, playing cards, and especially spending time with her family. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion, the Christian Mothers and the Catholic Knights. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) She was preceded in death by her husband: Frank on Sept. 7, 2001; a son: Frank, Jr.; a daughter: Pauline Allen; a granddaughter: Jennifer Foytik; three sisters: Millie DeCleene; Cecil Krautkramer; and Bernadine Nies; and three brothers: Father Cyril Kabat, Stan Kabat, and Lan Kabat. JAMES R. GLASOW James R. Glasow, 38, of 329 Manitowoc St., Reedsville, died Saturday morning at home. ROSE GOSZ Mrs. Peter J. Gosz, 81, of Cato, died Tuesday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Gosz Nov. 24, 1915, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. They resided at Cato. She was a charter member of St. Ann Christian Mothers Altar Society of St. Mary Catholic Church. JOSEPH HLAVACEK Joseph Hlavacek, 76, retired farmer, died in his sleep Sunday night at the home in the village of Reedsville. He had enjoyed fairly good health until a few days ago. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the St. Mary's Catholic church at Reedsville. The Rev. Joseph H. Hlavacek of Detroit, Mich., a son, will officiate at the final rites for his father. Mr. Hlavacek was born on the homestead farm at Cato in 1886 and in 1891 married Miss Anna Oswald. She died in 1899. Two years later he married Miss Mary Burich. Fourteen years ago they located at Reedsville, the farm being taken over by a son, John. Survivors are the widow; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Shimek of Reedsville, Mrs. John Pollak of this city, Mrs. Frank Bacik of Detroit; five sons, John, on the home farm, George of Beloit, the Rev. Joseph Hlavacek of Detroit, Stephen of Madison, Charles of Wausau; sister, Mrs. John Naidl of Branch; and 12 grandchildren. A son, Frank, died eight years ago. JOSEPH JAECKELS Joseph M. Jaeckels, 74, of Reedsville, died Saturday morning at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton. LUKE KIERNAN Luke F. Kiernan, 84, of Rt. 2, Reedsville, died Monday morning at home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reedsville Funeral Home. The Rev. John Neuser will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Kiernan was born Feb. 20, 1888, Ireland, son of the late Francis and Anna Brady Kiernan. He married Margaret Strak in November of 1916 at Maple Grove. He farmed in the Town of Maple Grove and Rockland. He was director of the Marquette School, Town of Maple Grove, for two terms. Survivors include four sons, Norbert and James, at home and Charles and Luke Jr., of Cato; a daughter, Miss Helen, of Green Bay; two brothers, Patrick, of Oregon and James, of Racine; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. ANNA M. KIRCH Mrs. John J. Kirch, 72, of Cato died Thursday of a cerebral hemorrhage, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Reedsville Cooperative funeral home, and at 9 o'clock at the St. Marys Catholic church, Reedsville, the Rev. William Koutnik officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Born Anna Burich in Cato in 1875, she was married to Mr. Kirch in 1898. He survives with a son, Edward of this city and a daughter, Mrs. Henry Spaeth of route 1, Manitowoc. Two sisters, Miss Antonia and Mrs. E.J. Shimon, both of Reedsville, and three grandchildren also survive. She was a member of the St. Ann society of the St. Marys congregation. ARLENE M. KOSTECHKA Arlene M. Kostechka, age 79, formerly of Reedsville, and currently a resident of San Luis Medical and Rehabilitation Center of Ashwaubenon, died there on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008. The former Arlene Sitman was born on July 18, 1928, in the town of Franklin, daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Meidl) Sitman. She attended St. Michael Catholic Grade School in Whitelaw. On Nov. 9, 1949, Arlene was married to Bernard "Barney" Kostechka at St. Michael Catholic Church in Whitelaw. The couple moved to Reedsville in 1972, and Barney preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1996. Arlene was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Reedsville, and was a current member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Clarks Mills and St. Michael Catholic Church of Whitelaw. Arlene was also a charter member of the Kubale-O'Connell VFW Post 6179 Auxiliary of Kellnersville. In the past, Arlene was a nanny for the Zarnoth family. She was a great fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Whitelaw. The Rev. ANNA KOUDELKA Mrs. Anna E. Koudelka, 83, of Cato, died Sunday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc after a four weeks' illness. Funeral services will be at 9:45 a.m. at Reedsville Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Reedsville. The Rev. John Neuser will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Koudelka, nee Anna Carbon, was born at Branch Aug. 20, 1887, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Carbon. She was married to Thomas Koudelka Feb. 2, 1907. She is a member of St. Ann Altar Society of St. Mary Church, Reedsville. Survivors include a son, Dr. Thomas Koudelka, of Harrisonburg, Va., three daughters, Miss Veronica, of Manitowoc and Mrs. Olive Schoenaur and Mrs. Ann Campbell, of Milwaukee; three brothers, five sisters, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. CHARLES KUGLE Charles Kugle, 59, of Reedsville, died Saturday afternoon of a heart attack suffered while ice fishing on Lake Winnebago. Funeral services will be at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Reedsville Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Reedsville. The Rev. William Koutnik will be the celebrant at the solemn requiem high Mass and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Kugle was born Sept. 1, 1900, in the Town of Franklin, Kewaunee County, son of the late Michael and Caroline Forst Kugle. He married the former Clara Wachal June 14, 1921, at Kellnersville. He was associated with his brother, Edward, in the Reedsville Motor Car Co. since 1919. Mr. Kugle was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary Church, a charter member of the Reedsville Lions Club and held a lifetime membership in the Reedsville Sportsmen's Club. He was also a member of Manitwooc Eagles Aerie 7??, Manitowoc Elks Lodge 687, Manitowoc Chapter of the Izaak Walton League, Manitowoc Sea Gulls and on the national, state and county Deputy Sheriff's Assn. Mr. Kugle was Fire Chief of the Reedsville Fire Dept. from 1927 until 1952. He served 10 years as director of the Wisconsin Fire Chiefs Assn. and also was a past president of the Volunteer Firemen's Safety League which includes more than 28 departments in Northeastern Wisconsin. HAROLD J. MEYER Harold J. Meyer, age 80, of St. Mary Home, Manitowoc, formerly of Reedsville, died on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008. He was born on June 4, 1927, in the town of Maple Grove, son of the late Theodore and Ella (Collins) Meyer. He married Patricia Kiel on Nov. 22, 1949, at Kellnersville. He served in the United States Army in World War II from 1945 to 1946. He did construction work and was a part-time farmer. He also delivered the Lakeshore Chronicle and worked at 141 Racetrack for many years. He was a member of the VFW Post 6179 of Kellnersville. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) ANTON NOVAK Anton Novak, 90, formerly of Reedsville, died Wednesday at Maple Crest Nursing Home, Whitelaw. JOHN J. NOVAK John J. Novak, 52, of Rt. 2, Brillion, died Tuesday at Wood Hospital, Milwaukee, following a lingering illness. GEORGE H. O'CONNELL (d. 2007) George H. "Harold" O'Connell, age 84, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away on Jan. 26, 2007, following a short illness. He was born April 6, 1922 in Maple Grove, son of the late George and Frances (Cavanaugh) O'Connell. George retired after 35 years of service with the Union Pacific Railroad in Pocatello, Idaho. Harold was an avid sports fan and especially loved the Green Bay Packers. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) ROBERT ROLLAND Robert Rolland, 51, of Reedsville, died Saturday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at Reedsville Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Reedsville. The Rev. Norman Krutzik will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Rolland was born Dec. 22, 1921, in the Town of Franklin, son of the late William Rolland and Elizabeth Hayden Rolland. He was graduated from East DePere High School. He married Jane Pollack Sept. 6, 1947, at Reedsville. He served on the Reedsville Village Board for several years. He started in the insurance business in 1963 with the Modern Woodman of America Life Insurance Co. He organized his own insurance agency in 1958. In 1969, he incorporated the agency known as the Reedsville-Brillion Insurance Agency Inc., with Ronald Schultz of Brillion as his partner. Mr. Rolland was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary Catholic Church, Lifetime member of Reedsville-Wayside Sportsman's Club, Reedsville Lions Club, Reedsville Industrial Development, Reedsville Athletic Assn. and past member of Manitowoc County Life Underwriters. BERNARD WANIGER Bernard (Bud) Waniger, 57, of Collins, died Thursday evening at home. RUTH A. (MULLINS) WELCH Ruth A. Welch, age 93, currently residing at St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc, formerly of Grimms, died peacefully at the home of her daughter and son-in-law on the morning of Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25, 1997. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 29, 1997, at St. Patrick St. Mary Catholic Church in Maple Grove. Rev. Jim Massart will officiate with burial at St. Mary cemetery, Reedsville. She was born September 30, 1904, in Maple Grove, daughter of the late William and Margaret (Sullivan) Mullins. She married Thomas Welch on October 14, 1925, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Maple Grove. Ruth and her husband Thomas farmed in Grimms until their retirement. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on October 14, 1975. She was a member of St. Patrick St. Mary Catholic Church in Maple Grove, a lifetime member of St. Patrick's Altar Society and the Grimms Helping Hands Homemaker for over 65 years. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in law, one daughter-in-law, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one sister-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; one son, LeRoy; one son-in-law, Frank Trinka; four sisters; two brothers; other relatives and friends. THOMAS W. WELCH Thomas W. Welch, 77, of Grimms, died Saturday afternoon, August 11, at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Reedsville Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Maple Grove. The Rev. Alois Pimeskern will officiate and burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Reedsville. Mr. Welch was born Dec. 17, 1901 at Grimms, son of the late Edmund and Margaret O'Brien Welch. He married Ruth Mullins Oct. 14, 1925, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Maple Grove. A retired farmer, Mr. Welch was also a former Manitowoc County jailer, a security guard at Mirro Corporation, and a Manitowoc County deputy for 37 years. He was former president of Manitowoc County Baseball League, lifetime member of Reedsville Alumni Association and a member of St. Patrick Holy Name Society. Mr. and Mrs. Welch celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in October of 1975. Survivors include his wife, Ruth, a son and daughter-in-law, two daughters and sons-in-law, three sisters, six grand- children, and a great grandson.
