She was married in October of 1944 at Juneau to Harold Allen. For the past years the couple had resided at Tisch Mills. Mrs. Baloun, nee Josie Hinesh, was born July 25, 1889, at Tisch Mills. She was married to Joseph Baloun June 21, 1910. He preceded her in death April 15, 1963. Survivors include a son, Alois of Green Bay; two daughters, Mrs. Wencil (Anna) Swintkoske of Kewaunee and Mrs. Dennis (Rose) Schohnecht of Manitowoc; a sister, Mrs. Frank Valenta of Denmark, 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. ALAN J. BARTA Alan J. Barta, age 68, of Two Creeks Road, Two Rivers, died unexpectedly Thursday, February 19, 1998. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 23, 1998, at 7:15 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills. Rev. Gerald B. Kempen, 0. Praem, will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery. Alan was born March 29, 1929, in Two Creeks, son of the late Calvin and Leilah (Havlinek) Barta. He was a life-long area resident. Alan was a graduate of Washington High School, Two Rivers, with the Class of 1946. He married the former Grace Retzlaff on November 10, 1951, in Vesper, Wis. Mr. Barta operated their homestead farm in Two Creeks until his retirement in 1990, and remained active with his son, on the farm. He also worked at the Two Creeks Garage for many years. He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, the Holy Name Society of the church, and served as Director of the men’s choir of the church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4807. Alan played for many polka bands, including the Two Creeks Farm Hands, The Jerry Volker Polka Band, and currently was playing with the Lee Rollin Polka Band. He is survived by his wife, Grace; two daughters and one son-in-law, two sons and daughters-in-law, 11 grandchildren, one brother, two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews. Friends may call after 3 p.m. on Monday at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, until the time of the Funeral Mass at 7:15 p.m. There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary Service at 6:45 p.m. at the church. A Memorial Fund has been established in Alan’s name for the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church Bell Fund. A.J. had a strong love for the homestead farm combined with his passion for music, whether it be playing in polka bands or singing and directing the men’s choir. JOSEPH BERANEK Joseph A. Beranek, 68, lifetime farmer in the Town of Franklin, Kewaunee County, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon at home. Mark Stangel, S.D.S., will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Mr. Beranek was born Jan. 2, 1902, on the homestead farm, a son of the late Anton and Josephine Roidt Beranek. He attended the agricultural short course at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He also was widely known in the area for his hobby of wood carving. ANTON BOURIL ANTON BOURIL DIES THURSDAY Brother of Former Alderman To Be Buried Sunday Anton Bouril, 75, brother of former Alderman Charles Bouril of this city, died Thursday night at the farm home in the town of Gibson where he had been living a retired life. He had been in failing health for the past three months. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the home in Gibson with interment in the Tisch Mills cemetery. Mr. Bouril was born in the town of Carlton, Kewaunee county, in 1859 and spent most of his life there. He was married there 49 years ago to Mary Jansky and they took up their home on a farm in the town. Seventeen years ago Mr. Bouril retired and moved to the town of Gibson with his wife. Survivors are his widow, five daughters, Mrs. Leonard Pfeffer, (next line unreadable), Alene, Idaho; Mrs. Frank Jaklin, Franklin; Mrs. Frank Schauer, Mishicot; Mrs. E.G. MARY BOURIL Mrs. Mary Bouril, 69, a lifelong resident of Kewaunee county, died Wednesday noon at the home of her son, Joseph, Kewaunee route 3, in the Town of Carlton, after an illness of two weeks. The body will lie in state at the Pfeffer Funeral Home tonight and will be removed to the homestead farm in Carlton Friday morning. Funeral services will be conducted there by the Rev. PETER J. BROUCHOUD Peter J. Brouchoud, 72, of 1814 22nd St., Two Rivers, retired Hamilton Mfg. Co. employee, died Thursday afternoon at Manitowoc County Hospital. Mr. Brouchoud was born June 9, 1890, in the Town of Gibson, son of the late Camille and Mary Couchenet Brouchoud. He married the former Emma Hrdina [sic] nearly 50 years ago. She died in 1936. He married the former Mrs. Martha Fenske Homeyer Oct. 19, 1940, at Kewaunee. He lived at Two Rivers from 1917 to 1930 when he returned to the Town of Gibson to operate a farm. He returned to Two Rivers in 1939 and worked at Hamilton Mfg. Co until his retirement in 1955. He was a member of the Hamilton Goodfellowship Club. ALBERT CIHA FARMER DIES AT HIS HOME Albert Ciha, Tisch Mills, Was 73 Years Old Albert Ciha, 73, retired farmer who made his home in the village of Tisch Mills for the past 15 years, died this morning at the home. Death was due to hardening of the arteries. Mr. Ciha had been in failing health for several months. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the Konop funeral home and at 10 a.m. from the St. Mary's Catholic church. The deceased was born in Franklin, Kewuanee county, in 1862. He took up farming and after his marriage to Miss Mary Parma purchased a farm in Franklin which he operated until 15 years ago. He and his wife moved to Tisch Mills to reside. MARY CIHA Mrs. Mary Ciha, 88, longtime resident of the Tisch Mills area and who for the past six years resided at St. Mary Home at Manitowoc, died late Wednesday afternoon at the Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where she had been a patient for a short period. WENCEL CIHA Wenzel Ciha Dies At Bolt Wenzel Ciha, an old resident of this place, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joseph Senka, Thursday morning. Mr. Ciha was born in this country 67 years ago and spent all his life in this county. His wife preceded him in death ten years ago and since then he turned over his farm to his daughter and moved to Norman, where he lived in retirement. Some time ago he came for a visit with his daughter, and there death occurred unexpectedly. Deceased is survived by two children Mrs. Joseph Senka on the old homestead and a son, John who lives in Norman. NELLIE DOLEZAL In ill health for the past six years, Mrs. Wenzel Dolezal, 77, died late Saturday afternoon at her farm home near Tisch Mills. LAWRENCE FINNEL Lawrence Finnel, 23, of Tisch Mills, died Saturday morning at a Green Bay hosptal following injuries suffered as the result of an industrial accident Friday morning at Forest Junction. He was graduated from Denmark High School with the Class of 1967. He was also a graduate of LaCrosse State Teachers College with the Class of 1971. Mr. Hallada, despite being 53, was still quite healthy and performed a great deal of work in the house and yard. In addition to his wife, he leaves several grown children. The well-attended funeral was held Mon. in the cemetery at Tisch Mills.
EMMA HODEK Mrs. Emma Hodek, 76, of Rt. 1, Mishicot, died early Wednesday morning at the home of a son, Ben, with whom she had been residing since the death of her husband in 1939. She had been in failing health for the past three years. JEANETTE HOLLY Jeanette Holly, 15-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Holly of Tisch Mills, died Saturday in St. Joseph's hospital, Milwaukee. She submitted to an operation earlier in the week. Funeral services this afternoon at the Konop funeral home in Tisch Mills took place on Miss Holly's 16th birthday. The Rev. L.A. Spooner of Kewaunee officiated and burial was in the Tisch Mills cemtery. The pallbearers were James and Robert Kolarik, Donald and Chester Gruenke, Orland Olson and Howard Tess. Miss Holly was born in Tisch Mills in 1928 and was graduated from the elementary school in June. She planned to enter Kewaunee high school this week. WENZEL J. HONZIK Wenzel J. Honzik, 76, of Rt. 1, Mishicot, a former assessor of the Town of Gibson, died Tuesday night at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. VACLAV HULETZ From Der Nord Westen, 24 May 1900: Farmer Wenzel Hulit, who resides near Tisch Mills, visited Two Rivers Sat., and on the way home, as he was approaching the Two Rivers Cemetery, he fell from his wagon and suffered fatal injuries. The horse waited alongside the unconscious man. When he was eventually found he was taken to the residence of a Two Rivers relative, Wenzel Schedivy, where he died without regaining consciousness.
NICK JAKLIN Nick Jaklin, 88, of Rt. 1, Denmark, died Sunday evening at the Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lambert Funeral Home, Mishicot and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills. The Rev. Leonard Woefel will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Jaklin was born Aug. 2, 1883, in the Town of Franklin, Kewaunee County, son of the late Nickolas and Anna Fischer Jaklin. He married Josephine Malechek Oct. 3, 1911. She preceded him in death Nov. 24, 1932. In 1934, he married Mary Koenig. He farmed in the Denmark area all his life and was active with thrashing crews and saw mill work. Mr. Jaklin was a member of St. Mary Church, Tisch Mills. She was married at Tisch Mills Sept. 4, 1899, to Wenzel Janda. The couple settled on a farm just outside Tisch Mills and in 1948 retired to the village. Mr. Janda died Aug. 5, 1958. EUGENE J. JOHANEK Eugene J. Johanek, age 77, a resident of Tisch Mills, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon Friday, May 4, 2001 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Tisch Mills, with the Reverend Joseph Praem, officiating. Eugene was born March 30, 1924 in Kewaunee County to the late Jacob and Emily Pilzak Johanek and has been a lifelong area resident. He married the former Dorothy Roidt, June 21, 1947 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Tisch Mills. She preceded him in death on May 13, 1999. He served in the United States Army during WWII in Japan and the Philippines. Mr. Johanek was employed by the Hamilton Manufacturing Company for over 40 years. He played for several bands, including the Joe Karmen Band, Bill Siebold Band, the Two Creeks Farm Hands, and the Mark Jirkovec Band. He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, the Czechs of Norman and the Carlton American Legion Post #538. ADAM KLIMESH Adam Klimesh, 63, of Kellnersville, a retired Town of Carlton, Kewaunee County farmer, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home late Sunday night. DONALD KOBES Denmark Boy County's 2nd Traffic Death Two Rivers - Injuries received in a single car crash about one mile northwest of this city on Highway 147 Monday afternoon proved fatal early Wednesday morning to 16-year old Donald Kobes of Rt. 1 Denmark. The death of the Denmark youth and that of a Shorewood man, who also died as the result of injuries suffered in an accident, raised the state highway toll for the year to 177 - 52 ahead of last year's all-time record pace. Internal Injuries The Kobes boy died of internal injuries at 1:50 a.m. Wednesday at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. He was the second person to die in a traffic accident in Manitowoc County so far this year. The county toll was also two deaths at this time in 1967. Manitowoc County Police said the Kobes boy was riding in a 1959 model vehicle driven by his brother, same address, which failed to negotiate a curve and struck a tree off Highway 147. His brother escaped with minor injuries and was treated as an outpatient at the hospital. The accident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Police listed the car as a total wreck. Died on Birthday The Kobes boy was born March 13, 1952, and died on his 16th birthday. He was the son of Edward and Delores Koenig Kobes and was a native of Zander, Town of Gibson. He attended the Zander district school and was a sophomore at Mishicot Community High School. He was a member of St. Mary parish at Tisch Mills. Besides his parents, he leaves a sister, and two brothers. The maternal grandmother, Mrs. Nicholas Jaklin, of Rt. 1 Denmark, and the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Kobes, of Kewaunee. JOSEPH T. KONOP Final tribute was paid to the late Joseph T. Konop, 49, prominent Tisch Mills business man and bank director at St. Mary's church in Tisch Mills Monday morning. The Rev. Bohemian lodge of which the late Mr. Konop was an active worker, marched in the funeral procession, while old band mates of Mr. Konop rendered a number of selections at the church and at the home. JOHN KOPETSKY Manitowoc Herald Times, March 30, 1946 issue John Kopetsky, 68, of route 1, Two Rivers, died early today at the farm home in Two Creeks. He had been seriously ill for only a week. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic church in Tisch Mills at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery there. The body is at the Klein & Stangel Inc. funeral home, Two Rivers, and may be viewed there from 7 o'clock this evening. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home Monday evening. Born on his parents' farm in the town of Two Creeks in 1878, the deceased was the son of John and Anna Mancel Kopetsky. Following his schooling in the town he assisted his father on the farm until 21 years of age when he went to Minnesota, remaining five years. While in Minnesota he married Mathilda Srnsky of Tabor, Minn at East Grand Forks in 1903. The couple remained there until 1905 when they returned to Mr. Kopetsky's former home in Two Creeks. They have remained to operate the farm there ever since. Mr. Kopetsky was a member of the Holy Name society of St. Mary's church, Tisch Mills. Surviving are the wife, fours sons, Frank and Stanley of Two Rivers, Wenzel and Leo both of route 1, Two Rivers; one daughter, Mrs. Norbert Kimmes of Two Rivers. There are 12 grandchildren. Mrs. Kopetsky was born March 13, 1883, in the Town of Bohemia, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anton Srnsky. She was married to John Kopetsky in 1903 at East Grand Forks, Minn. They farmed in the town of Two Creeks until Mr. Kopetsky died in 1946. She was a member of the Rosary Society at St. Mary's Catholic Church. EDWARD KOSTKA (the following sent in by family researcher/see contributors page) Edward Kostka, b.04 Sep 1902, d.06 Nov 1922/Son of Frank Joseph and Mary (Stangel) Kostka OBITUARY -The Kewaunee Enterprise, Kewaunee Wis. Dies Monday Morning at Home of His Mother at Krok Had Been Employed in Factory at Two Rivers A little over a year ago the Grim Reaper took the husband and father from the family of Mrs. Mary Kostka in West Kewaunee and left the home desolate with the wife and four sons to struggle on alone. On Monday morning at 5:30 o’clock death again entered the home and claimed Edward, the third of the family, after an illness of only one week with blood poisoning. The young man, only twenty years of age, was crippled from the same disease when a young lad and had a deformed leg. A week ago an infection started in his left arm and although everything was done to spare his young life, he died suffering the most intense pain and death was a relief to him as well as to those who had to witness his suffering. Edward Kostka was born on a farm near Tisch mills on Sept. 4, 1902 and was in his twenty-first year. He had been employed by the Aluminum Goods Company at Two Rivers off and on for about a year and until he was taken sick. His health was never of the best and with his disability, made it impossible for him to keep at work steadily. Surviving the deceased are his mother and three brothers, Frank of this city and Joseph and Daniel at home besides numerous other relatives. The funeral took place Wednesday from the late home at Krok and services were conducted at St. Mary’s Catholic church at Tisch Mills, Rev. Shimek officiating and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery there besides those of his late father. A large number of relatives and friends followed the body to its last resting place. The sympathy of the community goes out to this family in their great sorrow.

(the following was sent in by family researcher/see contributors page) Frank Joseph Kostka, Sr. b.-- Feb 1876, d.19 Jun 1921/Son of Mathias and Anna (Hruska) Kostka OBITUARY - The Kewaunee Enterprise, Kewaunee, WI., June 24, 1921 FRANK KOSKA PASSED AWAY LAST SUNDAY Succumbs After Illness of About Six Weeks WAS FORTY-FIVE YEARS OLD Funeral Services Were Held Wednesday At Tisch Mills Death claimed Frank Koska, a well known resident of West Kewaunee, at the St. Vincent hospital at Green Bay on Sunday morning. He has been a healthy man his entire life, until six weeks ago, when he overlifted himself and strained his kidneys, thus causing a poison system which caused his death. The deceased was born at Casco forty-five years ago, where he lived for about twenty years. On February 7, 1899, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Stangel at Cooperstown. For two years they made their home at Tisch Mills, from there they moved to the farm on which he lived until he was taken sick. Mr. Koska was one of the most influential citizens of the town, and enjoyed a wide acquaintance, not only in his home community, but through the western part of the county. Manifesting a deep interest in all matters which tended toward the advancement of the town, and welfare of its people. He was an honest character and respected by all. He is survived by his wife and four children, Frank, Edward, Joseph and Daniel, all living on the farm. Four sisters, Mrs. Jos. Pavlish, Mrs. Frank Hlinak and Mrs. Chas. Musil of this city, and Mrs. Tom Blahnik and Mrs. John Houdek of Casco. Two brothers Wencil of Casco, and Anton of this city. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 22, from the Tisch Mills Catholic church, and internment was in the cemetery adjoining, Rev. Shimek officiating.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 8:30 a.m. from the Klein & Stangel funeral home, Two Rivers, and at 9 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic church, Two Rivers. Internment will be in St. Mary cemetery, Tisch Mills. Mrs. Kostka, nee Mary Stangel, was born in the town of Franklin, Kewaunee County in 1878, a daughter of Joseph Stangel and Anna Aulik Stangel. She was married in 1899 to Frank Kostka at Tisch Mills, who died there over 30 years ago. After her husband’s death, she made her home in Two Rivers. Surviving Mrs. Kostka are three sons, Frank and Joseph of Two Rivers and Daniel Kostka, Two Rivers, a sister, Mrs. Anna Brahm of Milwaukee, nine grand children and seven great grandchildren. For many years she was a member of St. Luke’s Altar Society in Two Rivers. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m., Sunday until the time of services. FRANK KOWALSKI Frank Kowalski, 85, of Rt. 1, Mishicot, Town of Gibson, died Friday morning at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Lambert Funeral Home, Mishicot, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills. The Rev. Leonard Woelfel will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Kowalski was born April 29, 1886, in Poland. He came to the United States at the age of 20. He married Anna Wrubleski in 1923 at Two Rivers. The couple settled on a farm in the Town of Gibson. Mr. Kowalski was a member of St. Mary Church, Tisch Mills. Survivors include his wife, a son, two daughters, and 11 grandchildren. JAN KRALOVEC From Der Nord Westen, 21 Mar. 1907: On Tuesday last week the body of farmer John Kralevetz was found dead in the yard of his Town Gibson farm. A heart attack had ended the life of the 70-year old man. The funeral was held Friday in Tisch Mills.

AGNES MIDLE Mrs. John Midle of Rt. 1, Denmark, died Thursday afternoon at Maple Crest Sanatorium, Whitelaw, where she had been a patient for five months. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Specht Funeral Home, Mishicot, and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, the Rev. Donald Feller officiating. Burial will be in Tisch Mills National Cemetery. Mrs. Midle was born Agnes Tofel, Nov. 9, 1888, at Ostrava, Czechoslovakia, daughter of the late Francis and Maria Tofel. She was married to Joseph Biel in Czechoslovakia and the couple came to the United States where Mr. Biel died in 1921. In 1922 she was married to John Midle and the couple settled on a farm in the Town of Mishicot. ANTONIN MUDROCH From Der Nord Westen, 09 Sept. 1897: Since 10 o'clock Fri. morning, Anton Madroch, a resident who lives near Tisch Mills, has disappeared without a trace. On that morning he took his hunting weapon and went into the nearby woods. Shortly after going into the woods a shot was heard. It was believed that he might have tried suicide because he has recently shown symptoms of insanity. Madroch is about 47 yrs. old and has a worthwhile farm. All attempts to find him are fruitless so far. ******** From Der Nord Westen, 16 Sept. 1897: The body of Anton Mudroch in Tisch Mills, whose disappearance we reported in last week's issue, was found in a cornfield Tues. last week. The poor man had shot himself.
SANDRA AND SUSAN OURADA Double funeral services for the twin daughters of Mr. and Mrs. (private) Ourada, of 830-50th Ave., Green Bay, who were born and died early Friday morning, were at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills. BARBRA PARMA Mrs. Barbara Parma, 95, died early today at Tisch Mills. In recent years she made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Dolezal, of Tisch Mills. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m., from the Konop funeral home and at 10 o'clock from the St. Mary's Catholic church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Parma was born in Bohemia and came to this country at an early age. She was married and located on a farm in Carlton, Kewaunee county. Eight years ago she moved to Tisch Mills. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Albert Ciha, Mrs. Wencel Karmen and Mrs. Dolezal, all of Tisch Mills; 28 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren. MAGDALENE PRINCL From Der Nord Westen, 14 Dec. 1905: (From the correspondent in Mishicott, 12 Dec.) 68-yr. old Mrs. Geo. Princel died Fri. in her home near here after an illness of several weeks. She leaves her husband as well as a son and a daughter – Matt. Princel, on the old family farm, and Mrs. J. Krejci, who lives near here. Mrs. Princel was buried Sun. in a heavily attended funeral at the Tisch Mills Cemetery. (Note: Age does not match, but this is not unusual)
ANDREW ROSIK sent in by a researcher/see contributors page. Andrew Rosik, 79 of 932 South 23rd street, retired farmer, died yesterday afternoon of a heart attack. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, with burial in the church cemetery. Mr. Rosik was born in Poland, and came to Wisconsin when a boy. He engaged in farming at Tisch Mills and near by places before retiring 21 years ago and moving to this city. Fifty seven years ago he married Miss Mary Laskowsky. Survivors are his wife, two daughters, four sons, 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body will be moved to the Rosik home from the Leschke funeral home at 1 p.m. Friday. He married Mary Velchek Aug. 19, 1919, in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death Aug. 26, 1959(sic). Mr. Rosik was engaged in farming in Manitowoc County and was, also a mason-carpenter. HERMAN SALAMON Herman E. Salamon, 84, of Rt. 1, Denmark, died Tuesday night at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Klein and Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers. The Rev. Ralph Backman will officiate and burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Tisch Mills. Mr. Salamon was born March 6, 1888, at Plano, Ill. He married Myrtle Curtis Rochelle in 1948 at Chicago. He was a retired coal dealer from Chicago and he and his wife spent the last 14 years in Kewaunee County. ANTON SAUER From Der Nord Westen, 04 Nov. 1909: Anton Shauer of Tisch Mills has died in Milwaukee following an operation. He has been serving in the U.S. Army for the last 9 years, the last year as Secretary of the General Quartermaster in Manila, Philippines. He was on leave to come home and fell ill during the journey. When he reached Milwaukee he had to undergo the operation which led to his death. His body was brought to Tisch Mills for burial.
JOSEPHINE SCHLEIS Mrs. Josephine Schleis, 88, formerly of Two Rivers, died Monday evening at Park View Manor Nursing Home, Green Bay. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Klein and Stangel Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills. The Rev. Leonard F. Woelfel will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetry. Mrs. Schleis was born April 10, 1882, at Tisch Mills, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Mary Holub Stangel. She was married to Charles Schleis in 1901 at Tisch Mills. He died in 1935. Mr. Sednehrabsky of Two Rivers, who was working in a Milwaukee lumberyard, suffered an accident which broke both his legs and caused severe inner injuries, so that he died there the same day. His body arrived here on Mon. and will be forwarded to Two Rivers.

MARTIN SKLENARS From the Two Rivers Reporter, Saturday, November 16, 1912: OLD SETTLER KILLED Martin Sklenars, a prominent farmer at Tisch Mills died as result of injuries he sustained when attacked by an angry bull last week. The bull, which was owned by a neighbor broke into Mr. Sklenars premises and in attempting to drive the animal from his property, Mr. Sklenars was attacked by the beast and fatally gored. Mr. Sklenars was found unconcious in the field, his body torn and bleeding and died three days later.

EMILY SLOUP Funeral services for Mrs. Emily Sloup, 79, of 2601 West St., Two Rivers, who died at a Manitowoc hospital Wednesday morning, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, the Rev. Mrs. Sloup, nee Emily Knop, was born Jan. 25, 1893, in the Town of Franklin, Kewaunee County, daughter of the late Wenzel and Dora Roidt Konop. She was married to John Tikalsky in 1915 and the couple tookup residence at Stangelville where her husband became engaged as a cheesemaker. He died in 1917. She then was married Nov. 24, 1924, to Joseph Sloup at Stangelville. After marriage the couple took up farming in the Tisch Mills area. Her husband died in 1959. She was a member of St. Mary Altar Society. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Joyce) Casavant and Mrs. Wencel (Marcella) Vallenta, of Two Rivers; two sons, Kenneth, of Manitowoc, and Joseph Sloup, of Inkster, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Edward A. ANNA SPEVACEK Mrs. Anna Spevacek, 76, formerly of 1716-22nd St., Two Rivers, died early Friday morning at Park Lawn Home, Manitowoc, where she had been since Feb. 16, after being a patient at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. She had been in failing health for several months. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Klein and Stangel Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and at 10 a.m. with a solemn requiem High Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, the Rev. Donald Feller the celebrant. The Revs. Rudolph Kerch, pastor of St. Lawrence Church, Stangelville, and George Beth, pastor of St. Mark Church, Two Rivers, will serve as deacon and sub-deacon, respectively. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Tisch Mills. Mrs. Spevacek, nee Anna Dufek, was born June 3, 1884, in the Town of Mishicot, daughter of the late John and Anna Dolezal Dufek. She attended District No. 7 School in the Town of Mishicot and for two years was employed at Chicago. Returning to Mishicot, she was married Jan. 9, 1906, to Vit Spevacek at St. Mary Church, Tisch Mills. The couple settled on a farm in the Town of Mishicot which it operated for 37 years. In 1943, she retired with her husband to Two Rivers where Mr. Spevacek died in 1953. After that she made her residence at St. Mary Home at Manitowoc. Mrs. Spevacek was active in the Rosary Society of St. Mary Church for many years, in 1931, she was chairman of the Ladies Diamond Jubilee Committee of that parish. Surviving Mrs. Spevacek are three sons, Clarence, of Rt. 2, Two Rivers, Adolph, of Monte Clair, Calif., and Ben, of Manitowoc; a twin sister, Mrs. Joseph Reich, of Two Rivers, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Two sisters preceded her in death. Stangel, who was studying dentistry at Chicago Medical College, had died there of "nerve fever" (Nervenfieber). He was born in Tisch Mills where his surviving parents still reside. The body will be brought here for burial.

Stangel was born 77 years ago in Bohemia and came to Mishicott in 1856 where he established a farm on which he resided ever since. He leaves 8 children. The funeral was held Tuesday morning.

STANGEL AT SON’S HOME Resident of Tisch Mills Nearly 70 Years, Dies Here This Morning After an illness of nearly four months due to infirmities of old age, Joseph Stangel, Sr., nearly 70 years a resident of Tisch Mills died at the home of his son, Joseph W. Stangel, Jr., 1716 - 22nd street here at 4:20 o’clock this morning. He had been making his home in this city for the past year. Funeral Monday Funeral services will be held from St. Mary’s Catholic church in Tisch Mills Monday morning at 10 o’clock with the Rev. Father Hodek officiating. Burial will be at the congregation’s cemetery in that village. Mr. Stangel, born in Straz, Bohemia, April 8, 1854, immigrated to this country at the age of nine years with his parents, and settled at Tisch Mills, where the family became one of the most prominent in the early history of that territory. Mr. Stangel was twice married and both wives are deceased. Five Children Survive Mr. Stangel is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Mary LeClaire, this city; Mrs. Annie Brahm, Milwaukee; Mrs. Josephine Trost, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Antonie Zeman, this city, and a son, Joseph W. Stangel, with whom he made his home the past year. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Mary Riha, Norman, and four brothers, George W. and Wenzel M., both of Tisch Mills; Charles G. Stangel, principal of Lincoln high school at Manitowoc, and Frank G. Stangel of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. For many years Mr. Stangel was associated with his brothers in the threshing business, the firm being one of the largest in that vicinity. The couple located in Farmschool, Pa., and later in Doylestown, Pa., and then in Moorehead, Minn. After the death of Mr. Stangel in 1959, Mrs. Stangel located at Manitowoc. She was a member of the Hospital Guild of Manitowoc and a nurse at Henrotin Memorial Hospital, Chicago. She was active in local mission work. Survivors include a brother, Harris Hubert, of Menominee, Mich., and a sister, Mrs. Val (Henrietta) Buchmann, of Manitowoc. Four brothers preceded her in death. JULIA SYKORA After suffering from a dreadful disease for several months death came as a relief to Mrs. Wenzel Sykora who died early on Wednesday morning. Mrs. Sykora, nee Julia Dvorak, was born in the town of Mishicot on Oct. 17, 1871, married Wenzel Sykora on June 14, 1895, and the couple moved to Tisch Mills where Mr. Sykora began at his trade of harness making and repairing at which he still continues. Mrs. Sykora possessed a pleasing personality, was a kind mother, an ardent home worker and a fine neighbor. FRANK TULACHKA Frank Tulachka, 80, of Kewaunee, died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday at an Oshkosh hospital. He had pneumonia and had been ill four days. THERESA VALENTA DIES AT HOME OF DAUGHTER IN THIS CITY Mrs. George Valenta, 58, a native and resident Kewaunee county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Andrew Pillasch, Madison street, early this morning. She had been a patient at the hospital here for two weeks, and later was taken to the home of her daughter. Burial will take place, Tuesday morning, from the St. Mary’s Church at Tisch Mills, with the burial in the cemetery there. Mrs. Valenta nee Theresa Jansky, was born at Norman, 58 years ago, and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Jansky. Thirty eight years ago, she was married to George Valenta, who preceded her in death, two and one half years ago. After her marriage, she resided in the Town of Franklin. Mrs. Valenta leaves four daughters, Mrs. Anton Forst and Mrs. William Bohacek, of Melnik, Mrs. Andrew Pillasch, of this city, and Caroline Valenta of Manitowoc, and two sons, Charles Valenta, at home and Albert Valenta of Maribel. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Mrs. Vogel, nee Mary Mayme Braun, was born Feb. 9, 1905, at Whitelaw, daughter of the late George and Clara Kuehnl Braun. She was married to Frank Vogel Oct. 20, 1926, at Whitelaw. The couple lived in Manitowoc until 1941 and then farmed near Tisch Mills. Mrs. Vogel was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and its Rosary Society and the Catholic Knights. She is survived by her husband; four sons, three daughtes, a brother, Leonard Braun of Whitelaw and 22 grandchildren. A son, Robert, and a brother preceded her in death. JAMES J. WALESH Funeral services for James J. Walesh, 79, formerly of Tisch Mills, who died Friday morning at Hamilton Memorial Home, Two Rivers, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, the Rev. Leonard Woelfel officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Mr. Walesh was born July 10, 1893, at Pilsen, Kewaunee County, a son of the late Lawrence and Johanna Nuhlicek Walesh. He married the former Elva Reis at Two Rivers Feb. 16, 1916, who preceded him in death Oct. 5, 1967. They resided in Two Rivers until 1941 when they moved to Tisch Mills. He was a longtime employe of Hamilton Mfg. Co., Two Rivers, retiring 14 years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Daniel (Beatrice) Stelzer of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Norman (LaVern) Olson of Appleton; two sons, Kenneth and James of Two Rivers, six grandchildren and eight grandchildren. Three sisters and three brothers preceded him in death. JOSEF WOJTA From Der Nord Westen, 20 Dec. 1900: Death Sun., 09 Dec., in Two Creeks following a long illness of Joseph Wojta, an old and well-regarded citizen of that town. The deceased was born in Gablitz, Austria, in 1818 and married in 1844. In 1852 Mr. Wojta came to America settling first in Milwaukee, then coming to Two Creeks in 1854 where he has remained ever since. He is survived by one son and 8 grandchildren. His funeral was held Tues., 11 Dec., at the Catholic Cemetery in Tisch Mills.
KATERINA WOJTA From Der Nord Westen, 23 June 1904: Death on Sun., 12 June, of 79-yr. old Mrs. Joseph Wojta in the residence of her son, Ignatz Wojta in Town Two Creeks. The deceased was one of the first settlers of Town Two Creeks. Her husband preceded her in death 3 yrs. ago. The funeral was held 14 June at the Catholic Cemetery at Tisch Mills. JAMES F. YANDA James F. Yanda, 72, of 3116 Jackson St., Two Rivers, died Thursday night at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, the Rev. Leonard Woelfel officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Mr. Yanda was born Sept. 17, 1899, at Zander, Town of Gibson, son of the late Joseph and Katherine Walsh Yanda. He married Louise Zimmer Sept. 9, 1925, at Francis Creek. He retired from Hamilton Mfg. Co., Two Riveers, five years ago, where he was a member of the Hamilton Goodfellowship Club. Surviving are two daughters and a son (Survivors omitted for privacy.); a sister, Mrs. Emma Worachek, of Denmark; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. JOSEPH YANDA Joseph Yanda, 76, formerly of Rt. 2, Mishicot, died early Friday morning at Maple Crest Nursing Home, Whitelaw. Mr. Yanda was born Feb. 19, 1896, at Zander, Town of Gibson, son of the late Joseph and Catherine Walesh Yanda Sr. He married Mary Havlichek Nov. 16, 1920, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills. She preceded him in death Sept. 10, 1960. He farmed near Tisch Mills most of his life. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, and Holy Rosary Society. He was secretary and treasurer of Pleasant View Gun Club for many years. Survivors include a son, Raymond, of Rt. 3, Two Rivers; a daughter, Mrs. George (Irene) Frelich, of Manitowoc; a brother, Jim, of Two Rivers; and a sister, Mrs. Emma Worachek, of Denmark; six grand children and a great grandchild. LILLIAN YANDA Lillian Yanda, age 88, of 1802 Clermont St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday afternoon March 16, 1994, at the Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 1994, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gerald Foley with burial at St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery, Tisch Mills. She was born August 6, 1905, in Whitelaw, daughter of the late George and Frances Klingisen Zipperer. She married Ernest Yanda November 27, 1957, in Whitelaw. He preceded her in death in December of 1957. The couple farmed at Zanders, and in 1952, the couple moved to Manitowoc. Mrs. Yanda was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church, and the Christian Mother Altar Society. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, five brothers and a sister-in-law, three sisters and one brother-in-law, nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest in 1957, a son and daughter-in-law, John and Audrey Yanda in 1963, a sister, Laura Reznichek and two brothers, William and Rheinhart Zipperer. EDWARD ZAHORIK Edward Zahorik, 73, of Rt. 1, Denmark, a former Tisch Mills area farmer, died Friday morning at home. Funeral services will be at 9:35 a.m. Monday at Klein and Stangel Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills. The Rev. Leonard Woelfel will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Zahorik was born Aug. 18, 1897, in the Town of Gibson, son of the late John and Anna Sloup Zahorik. He married Mary Konop April 26, 1921, at Stangelville. He farmed Rt. 1, Denmark, and was sexton at Tisch Mills Cemetery for many years. He also sold fire insurance for Mishicot Town Mutual. Mr. Zahorik was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary Church, Tisch Mills. Survivors include his wife, a son, two daughters, a brother, William, of Rt. 1, Denmark, a sister, Mrs. William Fronk, of Two Rivers, 11 grand- children and three great grandchildren. KAREL ZAHORIK From Der Nord Westen, 27 Aug. 1903: (From the correspondent in Mishicott, 25 Aug.) Death Sat. of Chas. Zahorik, about 20, as the result of burns sustained in an accident Sat. while working near Tisch Mills. He was part of a crew moving a threshing machine between farms, using a portable engine. The accident caused steam to escape. He tried to avoid it but his clothing got caught. Dr. Karnopp was called, but he died after a few hours. The funeral was Monday.
VOJTECH ZAHORIK From Der Nord Westen, 08 Apr. 1909: 19-year old Albert Zahorik died in Gibson last week after a long illness and was buried in Tisch Mills. (Note: I believe this is the right place for this obit. The age and date match although I can't find a translation for Vojtech)
JACOB ZIMA GIBSON PIONEER DEAD AT AGE 90 Jacob Zima, one of the first settlers of the town of Gibson, was buried at Tisch Mills, following his death which was due to infirmaties of age. Mr. Zima had reached the advanced age of 90 years when death claimed him. He is survived by five of seven children of whom he was the father, two having preceded him in death. Mr. Zima's aged wife, four sons and one daughter survive and thirty grand children and twenty-eight great grand children also survive.
