FRANZ BLAHA From Der Nord Westen, 02 July 1903: Death Mon. in Two Creeks of 80-yr. old Franz Blaha, Sr., one of the first settlers of that town, of old age debility. He is survived by his sorrowing widow and 2 daughters. The funeral was held yesterday in Tisch Mills.

ALAN J. BARTA Alan J. Barta, age 68, of Two Creeks Road, Two Rivers, died unexpectedly Thursday, February 19, 1998. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 23, 1998, at 7:15 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills. Rev. Gerald B. Kempen, 0. Praem, will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery. Alan was born March 29, 1929, in Two Creeks, son of the late Calvin and Leilah (Havlinek) Barta. He was a life-long area resident. Alan was a graduate of Washington High School, Two Rivers, with the Class of 1946. He married the former Grace Retzlaff on November 10, 1951, in Vesper, Wis. Mr. Barta operated their homestead farm in Two Creeks until his retirement in 1990, and remained active with his son, on the farm. He also worked at the Two Creeks Garage for many years. He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, the Holy Name Society of the church, and served as Director of the men’s choir of the church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4807. Alan played for many polka bands, including the Two Creeks Farm Hands, The Jerry Volker Polka Band, and currently was playing with the Lee Rollin Polka Band. He is survived by his wife, Grace; two daughters and one son-in-law, two sons and daughters-in-law, 11 grandchildren, one brother, two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews. Friends may call after 3 p.m. on Monday at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, until the time of the Funeral Mass at 7:15 p.m. There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary Service at 6:45 p.m. at the church. There will be no Sunday evening visitation. The Lambert Funeral Home, Mishicot, is assisting the family with arrangements. A Memorial Fund has been established in Alan’s name for the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church Bell Fund. A.J. had a strong love for the homestead farm combined with his passion for music, whether it be playing in polka bands or singing and directing the men’s choir. WENZEL CHERMAK From Der Nord Westen, 13 Apr. 1899: 4th Death in Tisch Mills on Tues.(4 April) last week of 29-yr. old Wenzel Cermak(sic) of a stroke. He leaves his widow and two children. Burial took place last Thurs.

JACOB HALLADA From Der Nord Westen, 15 Dec. 1904: (From the correspondent in Mishicott, 13 De.) Jacob Hallada was found dead in bed Fri. morning last week from a heart attack. Mr. Hallada, despite being 53, was still quite healthy and performed a great deal of work in the house and yard. In addition to his wife, he leaves several grown children. The well-attended funeral was held Mon. in the cemetery at Tisch Mills.

ANNA (STANGEL) HONZIK Mrs. Wenzel Honzik, 67, of Rt. 1,- Mishicot, died Wednesday morning at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. Funeral services will be at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Klein and Stangel Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills. The Rev. Ronald Feller will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Honzik, nee Anna Stangel, was born May 1, 1900, in the Town of Mishicot, daughter of the late Wenzel and Anna Sklenars Stangel. She was married to Wenzel Honzik June 29, 1926, .at Tisch Mills. She was a member of the Rosary Society of St. Mary Church. Survivors include her husband, two daughters, two sons, and 13 grandchildren. A brother and sister preceded her in death. WENZEL J. HONZIK Wenzel J. Honzik, 76, of Rt. 1, Mishicot, a former assessor of the Town of Gibson, died Tuesday night at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. Funeral services will be at 9:45 a.m. Friday at Klein & Stangel, Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, the Rev. Leonard Woelfel officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Mr. Honzik was born Sept. 5, 1895, in the Town of Gibson, son of the late Wenzel and Magdeline Eckardt Honzik. Engaged in farming his entire life, he married Anna Stangel at St. Mary Church June 29, 1926. She died in 1967. He served for four years as assessor of the Town of Gibson, and was a member of St. Mary Holy Name Society. Survivors include two daughters, two sons, a brother, George of Manitowoc and 14 grandchildren. VACLAV HULETZ From Der Nord Westen, 24 May 1900: Farmer Wenzel Hulit, who resides near Tisch Mills, visited Two Rivers Sat., and on the way home, as he was approaching the Two Rivers Cemetery, he fell from his wagon and suffered fatal injuries. The horse waited alongside the unconscious man. When he was eventually found he was taken to the residence of a Two Rivers relative, Wenzel Schedivy, where he died without regaining consciousness.

LAUDY JANDA sent in by researcher/see contributors page Janda Funeral Funeral services for Laudy Janda, 45, town of Mishicot farmer who was killed when his car was struck by a Chicago & North Western train at the Rockwood crossing Saturday morning will be held at 9 o’clock Tuesday morning at St. Mary Catholic Church at Tisch Mills, the Rev. Joseph Kalisek officiating. Internment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Laudy Janda was born on the homestead farm upon which he resided in 1905, a son of Wenzel and Ann Wranovsky Janda. He lived on the farm his entire life. Surviving are his widow, the former Rose Fronk, his parents, who reside in Tisch Mills, a daughter and two sons, all at home, a sister, and two brothers. Friends may view the body at the farm home Monday evening, having been removed Monday afternoon from Klein & Stangel Inc. funeral home, Two Rivers. DONALD KOBES Denmark Boy County's 2nd Traffic Death Two Rivers - Injuries received in a single car crash about one mile northwest of this city on Highway 147 Monday afternoon proved fatal early Wednesday morning to 16-year old Donald Kobes of Rt. 1 Denmark. The death of the Denmark youth and that of a Shorewood man, who also died as the result of injuries suffered in an accident, raised the state highway toll for the year to 177 - 52 ahead of last year's all-time record pace. Internal Injuries The Kobes boy died of internal injuries at 1:50 a.m. Wednesday at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. He was the second person to die in a traffic accident in Manitowoc County so far this year. The county toll was also two deaths at this time in 1967. Manitowoc County Police said the Kobes boy was riding in a 1959 model vehicle driven by his brother, same address, which failed to negotiate a curve and struck a tree off Highway 147. His brother escaped with minor injuries and was treated as an outpatient at the hospital. The accident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Police listed the car as a total wreck. Died on Birthday The Kobes boy was born March 13, 1952, and died on his 16th birthday. He was the son of Edward and Delores Koenig Kobes and was a native of Zander, Town of Gibson. He attended the Zander district school and was a sophomore at Mishicot Community High School. He was a member of St. Mary parish at Tisch Mills. Besides his parents, he leaves a sister, and two brothers. The maternal grandmother, Mrs. Nicholas Jaklin, of Rt. 1 Denmark, and the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Kobes, of Kewaunee. JOHN KOPETSKY Manitowoc Herald Times, March 30, 1946 issue John Kopetsky, 68, of route 1, Two Rivers, died early today at the farm home in Two Creeks. He had been seriously ill for only a week. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic church in Tisch Mills at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery there. The body is at the Klein & Stangel Inc. funeral home, Two Rivers, and may be viewed there from 7 o'clock this evening. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home Monday evening. Born on his parents' farm in the town of Two Creeks in 1878, the deceased was the son of John and Anna Mancel Kopetsky. Following his schooling in the town he assisted his father on the farm until 21 years of age when he went to Minnesota, remaining five years. While in Minnesota he married Mathilda Srnsky of Tabor, Minn at East Grand Forks in 1903. The couple remained there until 1905 when they returned to Mr. Kopetsky's former home in Two Creeks. They have remained to operate the farm there ever since. Mr. Kopetsky was a member of the Holy Name society of St. Mary's church, Tisch Mills. Surviving are the wife, fours sons, Frank and Stanley of Two Rivers, Wenzel and Leo both of route 1, Two Rivers; one daughter, Mrs. Norbert Kimmes of Two Rivers. There are 12 grandchildren. MATHILDA KOPETSKY The following was sent in by a researcher/see contributors page KOPETSKY Manitowoc Herald Times August 23, 1975 issue Mrs. Mathilda Kopetsky, 93, of Rt 2, Mishicot, died Sunday evening at Family Heritage Nursing Home, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tisch Mills. The Rev. Joseph P. Lutheran will officiate with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Kopetsky was born March 13, 1883, in the Town of Bohemia, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anton Srnsky. She was married to John Kopetsky in 1903 at East Grand Forks, Minn. They farmed in the town of Two Creeks until Mr. Kopetsky died in 1946. She was a member of the Rosary Society at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Survivors include two sons, Stanley of Two Rivers and Leo of Rt 2, Mishicot, a brother, Rudolph of Minnesota, a sister, Mrs. Emma Stangel of Angus, Minn; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. EDWARD KOSTKA (the following sent in by family researcher/see contributors page) Edward Kostka, b.04 Sep 1902, d.06 Nov 1922/Son of Frank Joseph and Mary (Stangel) Kostka OBITUARY -The Kewaunee Enterprise, Kewaunee Wis. Dies Monday Morning at Home of His Mother at Krok Had Been Employed in Factory at Two Rivers A little over a year ago the Grim Reaper took the husband and father from the family of Mrs. Mary Kostka in West Kewaunee and left the home desolate with the wife and four sons to struggle on alone. On Monday morning at 5:30 o’clock death again entered the home and claimed Edward, the third of the family, after an illness of only one week with blood poisoning. The young man, only twenty years of age, was crippled from the same disease when a young lad and had a deformed leg. A week ago an infection started in his left arm and although everything was done to spare his young life, he died suffering the most intense pain and death was a relief to him as well as to those who had to witness his suffering. Edward Kostka was born on a farm near Tisch mills on Sept. 4, 1902 and was in his twenty-first year. He had been employed by the Aluminum Goods Company at Two Rivers off and on for about a year and until he was taken sick. His health was never of the best and with his disability, made it impossible for him to keep at work steadily. Surviving the deceased are his mother and three brothers, Frank of this city and Joseph and Daniel at home besides numerous other relatives. The funeral took place Wednesday from the late home at Krok and services were conducted at St. Mary’s Catholic church at Tisch Mills, Rev. Shimek officiating and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery there besides those of his late father. A large number of relatives and friends followed the body to its last resting place. The sympathy of the community goes out to this family in their great sorrow.

FRANK KOSTA SR. (the following was sent in by family researcher/see contributors page) Frank Joseph Kostka, Sr. b.-- Feb 1876, d.19 Jun 1921/Son of Mathias and Anna (Hruska) Kostka OBITUARY - The Kewaunee Enterprise, Kewaunee, WI., June 24, 1921 FRANK KOSKA PASSED AWAY LAST SUNDAY Succumbs After Illness of About Six Weeks WAS FORTY-FIVE YEARS OLD Funeral Services Were Held Wednesday At Tisch Mills Death claimed Frank Koska, a well known resident of West Kewaunee, at the St. Vincent hospital at Green Bay on Sunday morning. He has been a healthy man his entire life, until six weeks ago, when he overlifted himself and strained his kidneys, thus causing a poison system which caused his death. The deceased was born at Casco forty-five years ago, where he lived for about twenty years. On February 7, 1899, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Stangel at Cooperstown. For two years they made their home at Tisch Mills, from there they moved to the farm on which he lived until he was taken sick. Mr. Koska was one of the most influential citizens of the town, and enjoyed a wide acquaintance, not only in his home community, but through the western part of the county. Manifesting a deep interest in all matters which tended toward the advancement of the town, and welfare of its people. He was an honest character and respected by all. He is survived by his wife and four children, Frank, Edward, Joseph and Daniel, all living on the farm. Four sisters, Mrs. Jos. Pavlish, Mrs. Frank Hlinak and Mrs. Chas. Musil of this city, and Mrs. Tom Blahnik and Mrs. John Houdek of Casco. Two brothers Wencil of Casco, and Anton of this city. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 22, from the Tisch Mills Catholic church, and internment was in the cemetery adjoining, Rev. Shimek officiating.

MARY KOSTKA Cemetery #66 (the following was sent in by a family researcher/see contributors page) Mary (Stangel) Kostka, b.12 May 1878, d.13 Nov 1953/Daughter of Joseph W. and Anna (Aulik) Stangel/Wife of Frank Joseph Kostka, Sr. OBITUARY - Two Rivers Reporter, Two Rivers, WI., Nov. 14, 1953 KOSTKA Mrs. Mary Kostka, 75, 1621 19th St., Two Rivers, a native of Kewaunee County and a resident of Two Rivers for nearly 30 years, died at the Two Rivers Municipal hospital Friday afternoon, where she had been a patient only a few days. Funeral services will be held Monday at 8:30 a.m. from the Klein & Stangel funeral home, Two Rivers, and at 9 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic church, Two Rivers. Internment will be in St. Mary cemetery, Tisch Mills. Mrs. Kostka, nee Mary Stangel, was born in the town of Franklin, Kewaunee County in 1878, a daughter of Joseph Stangel and Anna Aulik Stangel. She was married in 1899 to Frank Kostka at Tisch Mills, who died there over 30 years ago. After her husband’s death, she made her home in Two Rivers. Surviving Mrs. Kostka are three sons, Frank and Joseph of Two Rivers and Daniel Kostka, Two Rivers, a sister, Mrs. Anna Brahm of Milwaukee, nine grand children and seven great grandchildren. For many years she was a member of St. Luke’s Altar Society in Two Rivers. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m., Sunday until the time of services. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 7:45 p.m. Sunday.

JAN KRALOVEC From Der Nord Westen, 21 Mar. 1907: On Tuesday last week the body of farmer John Kralevetz was found dead in the yard of his Town Gibson farm. A heart attack had ended the life of the 70-year old man. The funeral was held Friday in Tisch Mills.

ANNA KRCMA From Der Nord Westen, 17 Dec. 1908: Death Sunday of 32-year old Miss Anna Krema(sic) of Gibson at the residence of her sister here, Mrs. Jacob Stangel, after a two week confinement there. The deceased leaves her parents and 5 sisters. The funeral was held Tuesday in Tisch Mills.

ANTONIN MUDROCH From Der Nord Westen, 09 Sept. 1897: Since 10 o'clock Fri. morning, Anton Madroch, a resident who lives near Tisch Mills, has disappeared without a trace. On that morning he took his hunting weapon and went into the nearby woods. Shortly after going into the woods a shot was heard. It was believed that he might have tried suicide because he has recently shown symptoms of insanity. Madroch is about 47 yrs. old and has a worthwhile farm. All attempts to find him are fruitless so far. ******** From Der Nord Westen, 16 Sept. 1897: The body of Anton Mudroch in Tisch Mills, whose disappearance we reported in last week's issue, was found in a cornfield Tues. last week. The poor man had shot himself.

JIRI PRINCL From Der Nord Westen, 24 Oct. 1895: (From the correspondent in Mishicott, 22 Oct.) Also, death last Fri. afternoon of the father (not named) of George Prinzel. The deceased was over 90-1/2 yrs. of age., and his wife had died during the ocean crossing as the family came to America about 50 yrs. ago. Burial was last Sun. at the Catholic Cemetery in Tisch Mills.

MAGDALENE PRINCL From Der Nord Westen, 14 Dec. 1905: (From the correspondent in Mishicott, 12 Dec.) 68-yr. old Mrs. Geo. Princel died Fri. in her home near here after an illness of several weeks. She leaves her husband as well as a son and a daughter – Matt. Princel, on the old family farm, and Mrs. J. Krejci, who lives near here. Mrs. Princel was buried Sun. in a heavily attended funeral at the Tisch Mills Cemetery. (Note: Age does not match, but this is not unusual)

ANDREW ROSIK sent in by a researcher/see contributors page. Andrew Rosik, 79 of 932 South 23rd street, retired farmer, died yesterday afternoon of a heart attack. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, with burial in the church cemetery. Mr. Rosik was born in Poland, and came to Wisconsin when a boy. He engaged in farming at Tisch Mills and near by places before retiring 21 years ago and moving to this city. Fifty seven years ago he married Miss Mary Laskowsky. Survivors are his wife, two daughters, four sons, 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body will be moved to the Rosik home from the Leschke funeral home at 1 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and 10 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills. The Rev. Joseph Lutheran will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Rosik was born Feb. 28, 1891, in the Town of Eaton, Manitowoc County, son of the late Andrew and Mary Laskowski Rosik. He married Mary Velchek Aug. 19, 1919, in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death Aug. 26, 1959(sic). Mr. Rosik was engaged in farming in Manitowoc County and was, also a mason-carpenter. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, two brothers, a sister, and three grandchildren. A son, two brothers and a sister preceded him in death. ANTON SAUER From Der Nord Westen, 04 Nov. 1909: Anton Shauer of Tisch Mills has died in Milwaukee following an operation. He has been serving in the U.S. Army for the last 9 years, the last year as Secretary of the General Quartermaster in Manila, Philippines. He was on leave to come home and fell ill during the journey. When he reached Milwaukee he had to undergo the operation which led to his death. His body was brought to Tisch Mills for burial.

JOSEF SCHUTZ From Der Nord Westen, 28 May 1896: In Mishicott, Mr. Joseph Schulz died of consumption last Sat. morning. The 24 yr. old man is survived by his widow and 1-1/2 yr. old child. The burial took place Mon. morning in Tisch Mills.

JAN SEDMIHRADSKY From Der Nord Westen, 14 June 1900: On Sat. Mr. Sednehrabsky of Two Rivers, who was working in a Milwaukee lumberyard, suffered an accident which broke both his legs and caused severe inner injuries, so that he died there the same day. His body arrived here on Mon. and will be forwarded to Two Rivers.

MARTIN SKLENARS From the Two Rivers Reporter, Saturday, November 16, 1912: OLD SETTLER KILLED Martin Sklenars, a prominent farmer at Tisch Mills died as result of injuries he sustained when attacked by an angry bull last week. The bull, which was owned by a neighbor broke into Mr. Sklenars premises and in attempting to drive the animal from his property, Mr. Sklenars was attacked by the beast and fatally gored. Mr. Sklenars was found unconcious in the field, his body torn and bleeding and died three days later.

MARIE SLADKY From Der Nord Westen, 06 Dec. 1900: Death Sun. last week in Tisch Mills of 80-yr. old Mrs. Mary Sladky of old age debility. The funeral was held Wed.

ANNA SPEVACEK Mrs. Anna Spevacek, 76, formerly of 1716-22nd St., Two Rivers, died early Friday morning at Park Lawn Home, Manitowoc, where she had been since Feb. 16, after being a patient at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. She had been in failing health for several months. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Klein and Stangel Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and at 10 a.m. with a solemn requiem High Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, the Rev. Donald Feller the celebrant. The Revs. Rudolph Kerch, pastor of St. Lawrence Church, Stangelville, and George Beth, pastor of St. Mark Church, Two Rivers, will serve as deacon and sub-deacon, respectively. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Tisch Mills. Mrs. Spevacek, nee Anna Dufek, was born June 3, 1884, in the Town of Mishicot, daughter of the late John and Anna Dolezal Dufek. She attended District No. 7 School in the Town of Mishicot and for two years was employed at Chicago. Returning to Mishicot, she was married Jan. 9, 1906, to Vit Spevacek at St. Mary Church, Tisch Mills. The couple settled on a farm in the Town of Mishicot which it operated for 37 years. In 1943, she retired with her husband to Two Rivers where Mr. Spevacek died in 1953. After that she made her residence at St. Mary Home at Manitowoc. Mrs. Spevacek was active in the Rosary Society of St. Mary Church for many years, in 1931, she was chairman of the Ladies Diamond Jubilee Committee of that parish. Surviving Mrs. Spevacek are three sons, Clarence, of Rt. 2, Two Rivers, Adolph, of Monte Clair, Calif., and Ben, of Manitowoc; a twin sister, Mrs. Joseph Reich, of Two Rivers, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Two sisters preceded her in death. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. The Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or for funeral masses. CHARLES SPEVACEK Charles Spevacek, 85, of 2318 Lincoln Ave., Two Rivers, died Thursday morning at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lambert Funeral Home, Mishicot, and at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. The Rev. Robert Rhyner will officiate and burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Tisch Mills. Mr. Spevacek was born Feb. 20, 1887, in the Town of Gibson, son of the late Frank and Antonia Lemach Spevacek. He married Emma Sladky June 16, 1914, at Green Street. The couple farmed in the Town of Gibson until 1945, moving to Two Rivers. Mr. Spevacek was employed at Mirro Aluminum Co. until his retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Mother of Hope Council No. 1957, and St. Luke Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, a son, Raymond, of Two Rivers; three daughters, Mrs. Adeline Flemal, Mrs. Genevieve Safranek and Mrs. Mary Ann Kumbalek of Two Rivers; two brothers, Anton and Emil, of Manitowoc; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. FRANTISEK STANGEL From Der Nord Westen, 18 Dec. 1902: (From the correspondent in Mishicott, 16 Dec.) A telegram arrived here yesterday reporting that Mr. F. Stangel, who was studying dentistry at Chicago Medical College, had died there of "nerve fever" (Nervenfieber). He was born in Tisch Mills where his surviving parents still reside. The body will be brought here for burial.

JAN STANGEL From Der Nord Westen, 12 Mar. 1908: John Stangel, one of the old pioneers of Town Mishicott, died Sunday of old age debility. Stangel was born 77 years ago in Bohemia and came to Mishicott in 1856 where he established a farm on which he resided ever since. He leaves 8 children. The funeral was held Tuesday morning.

JOSEPH W. STANGEL From the Two Rivers Reporter, October 29, 1932 DEATH CLAIMS JOS. STANGEL AT SON’S HOME Resident of Tisch Mills Nearly 70 Years, Dies Here This Morning After an illness of nearly four months due to infirmities of old age, Joseph Stangel, Sr., nearly 70 years a resident of Tisch Mills died at the home of his son, Joseph W. Stangel, Jr., 1716 - 22nd street here at 4:20 o’clock this morning. He had been making his home in this city for the past year. Funeral Monday Funeral services will be held from St. Mary’s Catholic church in Tisch Mills Monday morning at 10 o’clock with the Rev. Father Hodek officiating. Burial will be at the congregation’s cemetery in that village. Mr. Stangel, born in Straz, Bohemia, April 8, 1854, immigrated to this country at the age of nine years with his parents, and settled at Tisch Mills, where the family became one of the most prominent in the early history of that territory. Mr. Stangel was twice married and both wives are deceased. Five Children Survive Mr. Stangel is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Mary LeClaire, this city; Mrs. Annie Brahm, Milwaukee; Mrs. Josephine Trost, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Antonie Zeman, this city, and a son, Joseph W. Stangel, with whom he made his home the past year. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Mary Riha, Norman, and four brothers, George W. and Wenzel M., both of Tisch Mills; Charles G. Stangel, principal of Lincoln high school at Manitowoc, and Frank G. Stangel of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. For many years Mr. Stangel was associated with his brothers in the threshing business, the firm being one of the largest in that vicinity. Caroline Staral, age 84, formerly of the Mishicot, Tisch Mills area, died late Thursday evening, April 14, 1994, at Two Rivers Hamilton Memorial Home. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tisch Mills. The Rev. Gerald Kempen will officiate with burial in the parish cemetery. Caroline was born in the town of Franklin, Kewaunee County, April 12, 1910, daughter of the late George and Theresa Jansky Valenta. She married Louis Staral, June 14, 1932, at Holy Hill, Milwaukee. He preceded her in death December 4, 1991. She was a member of the Mishicot Senior Citizens. Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, 19 grandchildren, and 10 great grand-children. She was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mishicot, Msgr James Feely officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Tisch Mills. He was born on June 14, 1909 in the town of Carlton Kewaunee County, son of the late Anton and Kathryn Wachal Staral. He was married to Caroline Valenta on June 14, 1932, at Holy Hill, Wis. He farmed and was employed at Hamilton Industries until retiring. He is survived by his wife, Carol, four daughters, two sisters,19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Anton and Adolph Staral. EVELYN URBANEK Evelyn Koenig Urbanek, 76, of 1101 Rockdale St., Green Bay, died Sunday afternoon June 11, 1989 at St. Vincent Hospital. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lambert Funeral Home, Mishicot, and 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills. Rev. Ralph Hermsen will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Urbanek was born December 4, 1912, in the Town of Franklin, Kewaunee County, daughter of the late Joseph and Alvina Krejcarek Holly. She married Michael Koenig, June 26, 1941, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills. He preceded her in death in 1973. Mrs. Urbanek lived in Bolt until 1982. She then married Willard (Mike) Urbanek April 17, 1982. He preceded her in death in April 3, 1989. Mrs. Urbanek was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Rosary Society and Franklin Farmerettes Homemakers. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, a stepson and step daughter-in-law, a stepdaughter, two grandchildren, and three step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister. JAN URBANEK From Der Nord Westen, 27 Oct. 1904: Death Sun. in Tisch Mills of John Urbanek, a resident in our county for 36 yrs. The deceased, who was born in Bohemia 74 yrs. ago, came to America in 1868 and settled in Tisch Mills where he worked a farm. Several years ago he moved here to Manitowoc, but then moved back to a farm. He leaves several grown children. The funeral was held Tuesday.

She was born Jan 12, 1915 in the Town of Montpelier to the late Jacob and Jennie (Granat) Wachal. She married Charles Valenta on Oct. 17, 1939 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pilson. He preceded her in death Jan. 15, 1971. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, two sons and daughters-in-law, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. THERESA VALENTA sent in by researcher/see contributors page DIES AT HOME OF DAUGHTER IN THIS CITY Mrs. George Valenta, 58, a native and resident Kewaunee county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Andrew Pillasch, Madison street, early this morning. She had been a patient at the hospital here for two weeks, and later was taken to the home of her daughter. Burial will take place, Tuesday morning, from the St. Mary’s Church at Tisch Mills, with the burial in the cemetery there. Mrs. Valenta nee Theresa Jansky, was born at Norman, 58 years ago, and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Jansky. Thirty eight years ago, she was married to George Valenta, who preceded her in death, two and one half years ago. After her marriage, she resided in the Town of Franklin. Mrs. Valenta leaves four daughters, Mrs. Anton Forst and Mrs. William Bohacek, of Melnik, Mrs. Andrew Pillasch, of this city, and Caroline Valenta of Manitowoc, and two sons, Charles Valenta, at home and Albert Valenta of Maribel. She is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Anton Bouril, of Gibson, Mrs. Andrew Gabriel, of Rice Lake; Mrs. George Peterik of Shoto; Mrs. John Urban, of Norman, and two brothers, John Jansky of Kewaunee, and Charles J. of this city. JOSEF WOJTA From Der Nord Westen, 20 Dec. 1900: Death Sun., 09 Dec., in Two Creeks following a long illness of Joseph Wojta, an old and well-regarded citizen of that town. The deceased was born in Gablitz, Austria, in 1818 and married in 1844. In 1852 Mr. Wojta came to America settling first in Milwaukee, then coming to Two Creeks in 1854 where he has remained ever since. He is survived by one son and 8 grandchildren. His funeral was held Tues., 11 Dec., at the Catholic Cemetery in Tisch Mills.

KATERINA WOJTA From Der Nord Westen, 23 June 1904: Death on Sun., 12 June, of 79-yr. old Mrs. Joseph Wojta in the residence of her son, Ignatz Wojta in Town Two Creeks. The deceased was one of the first settlers of Town Two Creeks. Her husband preceded her in death 3 yrs. ago. The funeral was held 14 June at the Catholic Cemetery at Tisch Mills. (Note: The age is off in the newspaper. This is fairly common.)

LILLIAN YANDA sent in by researcher/see contributors page Lillian Yanda, age 88, of 1802 Clermont St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday afternoon March 16, 1994, at the Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 1994, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gerald Foley with burial at St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery, Tisch Mills. She was born August 6, 1905, in Whitelaw, daughter of the late George and Frances Klingisen Zipperer. She married Ernest Yanda November 27, 1957, in Whitelaw. He preceded her in death in December of 1957. The couple farmed at Zanders, and in 1952, the couple moved to Manitowoc. Mrs. Yanda was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church, and the Christian Mother Altar Society. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, five brothers and a sister-in-law, three sisters and one brother-in-law, nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest in 1957, a son and daughter-in-law, John and Audrey Yanda in 1963, a sister, Laura Reznichek and two brothers, William and Rheinhart Zipperer. KAREL ZAHORIK From Der Nord Westen, 27 Aug. 1903: (From the correspondent in Mishicott, 25 Aug.) Death Sat. of Chas. Zahorik, about 20, as the result of burns sustained in an accident Sat. while working near Tisch Mills. He was part of a crew moving a threshing machine between farms, using a portable engine. The accident caused steam to escape. He tried to avoid it but his clothing got caught. Dr. Karnopp was called, but he died after a few hours. The funeral was Monday.

VOJTECH ZAHORIK From Der Nord Westen, 08 Apr. 1909: 19-year old Albert Zahorik died in Gibson last week after a long illness and was buried in Tisch Mills. (Note: I believe this is the right place for this obit. The age and date match although I can't find a translation for Vojtech)
