JOSEPH HODEK, JR. (d. 1930) RESIDENT OF COUNTY SHOOTS SELF TO DEATH Joseph Hodek, town of Gibson farmer who recently returned from a Milwaukee hospital where he underwent treatments because of effects of monoxide gas inhaled by him several months ago, killed himself at the family farm shortly before noon today. It was presumed that Hodek, who was 44 years of age and a married man with a family, was despondent over his illness and placed a gun immediately below his heart before firing the fatal shot. The Hodek family lived about four miles northwest of Mishicot. It was learned late this afternoon that Hodek killed himself with a shotgun while he was in the rear of the family barn. He placed the trigger of the gun against a nail and pulled the gun toward him, the charge entering his heart. He leaves a wife and a son, 11 years of age. No inquest will be held, it being declared by authorities to be a plain case of suicide as Hodek had previously attempted to end his own life.
