
JACOB ANDRE Jacob Andre, 68, died at his home at Rhine Center Wednesday evening. Born in Ohio, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Balzer Andre, on June 16, 1881, he made his home in and around Rhine Center since 1906, where he was employed on various farms. He had never married. Survivors are four nephews and a niece. A sister, several brothers and his parents preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Saturday at the Meiselwitz Funeral home at Kiel and burial will be made in the Bethel church cemetery in the town of Meeme. Fifteenth Street Sheboygan. Born in Sheboygan on May 12, 1909, she resided here until her marriage to Arno Dickman of the town of Meeme, when they moved to the present farm homestead. Survivors are her husband, her parents, seven children, (private). Five children preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at the Bethel Evangelical and Reformed church in the town of Herman with the Rev. Charles Reppert officiating. Burial will be made in the church cemetery. AMANDA DIRKS Mrs. Emil Dirks, 65, of the Town of Meeme, died Friday morning at St. Nicholas Hospital following a short illness. She was born Amanda Voss on June 24, 1895, in the Town of Meeme, a daughter of the late Louis and Albertina Schwalenberg Voss. She was baptized and confirmed at the Bethel United Church of Christ, and attended the district school. On Nov. 1, 1913, she married Emil Dirks of Louis Corners. The couple moved to Meeme, where he operated a cheese factory until his retirement in 1956. Mrs. Dirks was a life member of Bethel Church, the Ladies Aid Society of the church and the Pigeon River Homemakers. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Elmer of the Town of Mosel, Erwin of the Town of Rhine, and Lester of Ada; five grandsons; one great granddaughter; three sisters, Mrs. Alvin Zimmermann of the Town of Rhine, Mrs. Edward Mahlich of the Town of Schleswig, and Mrs. Reinhold Roethel of the Town of Meeme; three brothers, Alvin of the Town of Meeme, Harvey of Manitowoc, and Melvin of Plymouth. She also was preceded in death by three brothers. Funeral services will be held at the Bethel United Church of Christ in the Town of Herman with the Rev. Carl Fried officiating. FRED H. EICKHOFF Fred H. Eickhoff, 79, well-known Town Schleswig farmer, passed away at his home near Millhome on Friday. He was born June 28, 1869, in Halle, Braunschwaig, Germany, the son of August and Johanna Eickhoff. He came to this country in 1884, settling on a farm near Sheboygan. He later worked as a blacksmith at Cedar Grove for 10 years. In 1895 he married Miss Helen Eick of Town Herman. The couple moved to the present Eickhoff farm in Town Schleswig in 1902. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1945. The survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Adellia) Schleunes of Town Schleswig, and Mrs. Hugo G. (Esther) Olm of Town Meeme; one son, Alve of Town Schleswig; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, William of Kiel and a sister, Mrs. Anna Kaldewey, in Germany. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gertrude, who died in 1939, his parents, one sister and a brother. Funeral services will be held at the Bethel Evangelical and Reformed church in Town Herman with the Rev. Clarence Schmidt officiating. Burial will be made in the church cemetery. VALENTINE HAMEISTER Valentine H. Hameister, 80, of Ada in the Town of Herman, Sheboygan County, a retired Town of Herman farmer, died at home Wednesday morning. Death was attributed to a heart ailment. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bethel United Church of Christ, Town of Herman, the Rev. Carl Fried officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Hameister was born May 2, 1883, in the Town of Shebogyan, son of the late Henry and Magdelena Schaetzel Hameister. The parents moved to the Town of Rhine while he was still a youth and he attended district schools there. He married the former Ida Neuhaus of the Town of Herman Dec. 26, 1912, at Bethel United Church of Christ. The couple farmed in the Town of Herman and at the present location the last 46 years. He retired 12 years ago. The couple observed its golden wedding in December, 1962. He was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, two sons, Hugo and Raymond of Sheboygan; two daughters, Miss Anita Hameister of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Mrs. Ruth Klemme of Plymounth; two brothers, Edwin of Sheboygan and Henry of Rt. 2, Elkhart Lake; a sister, Mrs. Anna Uphoff of Howards Grove; and 10 grandchildren. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, until 11 a.m. Saturday when the casket will be moved to the church where the body will lie in state from 12 noon until the hour of service. ALVINA B. HENSCHEL Mrs. Charles E. Henschel, 73, a resident of the Town of Meeme, died Monday at the Memorial Hospital, following a long illness. Her maiden name was Alvina Brandt. She was born In Menomonee, Mich., June 3, 1880. She was the daughter of Albert and Bertha (Rieck) Brandt. She was baptized in 1880 in Menomonee and confirmed in town of Centerville in 1901. Her marriage to Mr. Henschel took place April 20, 1899, in Marinette. For eight years they lived on a farm in the town of Centerville and the past 48 years on their present farm, although they retired several years ago. They observed their golden anniversary in 1949. She was a member of the Ladies Aid Society of Bethel Ev and Reformed Church, town of Herman. The survivors include her husband; four sons, Albert and Edwin, Kiel; Melvin, town of Herman; Elmer, Manitowoc; four daughters, Mrs. Otto (Evelyn) Ebeling, town of Herman; Mrs. Arnold (Myrtle) Kraemer, Osman; Mrs. Ewald (Hilda) Stock, Newton; and Mrs. Hugo (Irene) Grosskopf, town of Herman; 24 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; five brothers, Arthur, Frank and Chester, of Faithhorn, Mich.; Melvin of Florence; and Walter of Milwaukee; two sisters, Mrs. Vern King of Faithhorn; and Mrs. Elva Turner, Indianapolis. MARY HUBER Mrs. Mary Huber, 61, of the town of Meeme, died on Tuesday evening at the Plymouth hospital where she underwent an operation several days earlier. PAUL H. KOELLER Paul H. Koeller, 39, of Kiel, died Saturday at his home. Mr. Koeller was born in 1912 at Belle Plain, Wis., son of Mrs. Manda Koeller, and the late Charles Koeller. ELMER KRAEMER Elmer C. Kraemer, age 89, formerly of Ada and currently a resident of the Calumet Homestead in New Holstein, died Monday May 30, 2005 at the Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. He was born in the Town of Russell on Sept. 4, 1915, a son of the late John A. and Anna (Schuricht) Kraemer. Elmer was a 1933 graduate of Elkhart Lake High School. On Sept. 20, 1943, Hilda L. Huber and Elmer C. Kraemer were united in marriage at Madelyn Island, WI. Elmer was inducted into the U.S. Army in February of 1945, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and honorably discharged on Aug. 22, 1946. Elmer had been a salesperson for the Fuller Brush Company and later was employed at Hingiss Implement in Kiel as well as working in the construction trade for many years. He retired from the Hayssen Manufacturing Company in 1980 after working there for over 20 years. In his retirement years, Elmer had a hobby farm in the town of Meeme. He enjoyed raising steers, planting trees and his pride was a pond that he constructed on the farm. He was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ in Ada where he had been active on various duties and serving as bell ringer. Her husband preceded her in death in October 1942. ANNA MAHLOCH Kiel, Wis—(Special)—Mrs. Anna Mahloch, 84, widow of the late George Mahloch, died suddenly Thursday night at the home of her son-in-law, Anton Meyer, in the town of Herman. Nee Staudigal, she was born in the town of Meeme, on Oct. 8, 1855, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Staudigal. She married George Mahloch on June 14, 1874, and the couple moved to a farm in the town of Meeme. In 1904 they sold the farm to Anton Meyer, with whom they lived until 1918, when they purchased a home near the Liberty Pole in the town of Meeme. Mr. Mahloch died in 1937 and the daughter, Mrs. Anton Meyer, died in 1925. After the death of her husband she lived with her son, Louis, in the town of Meeme and then with Anton Meyer. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Paul Traeger, Sutton, Nebr., two sons, Louis, town of Meeme, and William of Chicago, nine grand- children and 15 great grandchildren. HENRY NEUHAUS Retired Town Of Herman Farmer Dies Tuesday Evening Henry Neuhaus, 84, retired farmer, died Tuesday evening at 8:15 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edward Hameister, in the Town of Herman, death following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon from the home and at 2 o’clock from the Bethel Reform church in the Town of Herman. Burial will be made in the church cemetery. The body will be brought to the home Thursday. Mr. Neuhaus, who retired from active farming when his daughter and son-in-law took over his homestead in 1922, was born in the town of Newton Jan 5, 1851. He was married May 2, 1878 to Elizabeth Spindler, who survives him. The couple settled on the homestead where Mr. Neuhaus died. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1928. OSCAR NEUHAUS Oscar H. Neuhaus, 75, of 1314 n. 7th St., a former Town of Rhine resident and insurance agent, died Tuesday at his home. In January of 1931 he became director of the Town of Herman Fire and Tornado Insurance Co., presently known as the Franklin Mutral Insurance Co. He served as treasurer of the firm for many years and was an agent for Franklin and also Heritage Mutual Insurance Co. until 1973 when he sold his agency. Born March 24, 1899 in the Town of Rhine, he was a son of the late William and Anna Spindler Neuhaus. He attended district school. On Sept. 11, 1928 he married Anna Huber of the town of Meeme. The couple settled on the homestead farm in Rhine. He was a lifelong member of Bethel United Church of Christ, Town of Herman, and served two terms as an elder of the church. Only immediate survivor is his widow. A brother and two sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Bethel UCC, the Rev. Donald B. King, pastor, officiating. MAGDALENE RAHN Mrs. Hugo F. Rahn, 50, of the town of Meeme, passed away Thursday noon at Memorial hospital in Sheboygan. Formerly Johanna Magdalene Pagel, she was born April 6, 1900, in the town of Mosel, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pagel. With her parents she moved to the town of Sheboygan and on May 14, 1927, she was married to Hugo F. Rahn in the town of Herman. The couple lived in the town of Herman until the past eight years when they made their home on a farm in the town of Meeme. She was a member of the Bethel Evangelical Reformed church in the town of Herman near Ada. Survivors are her husband, one sister, Mrs. Arno (Hertha) Grunwaldt, and one brother, Arthur Pagel, both of the town of Herman. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bethel Evangelical Reformed church, town of Herman, with the Rev. W. C. Koehler officiating. JEROME W. RAUTMANN Jerome Rautmann, 63, (private), Elkhart Lake, (Ada), died Thursday, February 21, 1991, at St. Luke Medical Center in Milwaukee. On December 2, 1950, he married Marzine Illig at Bethel United Church of Christ, Ada. He spent three years in the Air force. After his marriage, he drove a semi for 34 years; the last 19 years he was employed at Lake to Lake in Sheboygan. Semi-retirement employment was with Harold’s Landscaping. He was a life long member of Bethel UCC, there he served as a Consistery [sic] Member. He was also a past member of the Ada Fire Department. OTTO RAUTMANN Otto Rautmann, 59, Meeme farmer, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon following a heart attack in his home. Mr. Rautmann was born in 1892 in Meeme and spent his entire life on the homestead farm. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Julian Rautmann, he married the former Miss Alvina Dickman of the town of Herman, Sheboygan County, in 1918. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Bethel Evangelical and Reformed Church, town of Herman, Rev. Wolfgang Koehler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Surviving are his wife; daughter, Mrs. Lucille Mewes of Jefferson, Wis.; two sons, Norman and Jerome, both of the Town of Meeme; three brothers, Oscar of Sheboygan, Edwin of the town of Schleswig and Armie, town of Meeme; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Fesler of St. Nazianz, Mrs. Olga Voss of Millhome, Wis., and Mrs. Ovila Meyer, Pigeon Lake; one grandchild. ARTHUR RIETBROCK A funeral services for the family and relatives will be held Thursday for Arthur Rietbrock, 83, of R. 1 Elkhart Lake, retired Town of Herman farmer, who died Tuesday. The Rev. Dean Miller, pastor of St. John United Church of Christ, Herman, will officiate, and burial will be in the Bethel cemetery, town of Meeme. Born on Dec. 18, 1887, on the Rietbrock farm in Herman, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Rietbrock. On March 20, 1911, he married the former Minnie Voss. The couple operated the Rietbrock home farm. Mrs. Rietbrock died in 1963. He continued to make his home at the farm with a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Rietbrock. He was a life member of Bethel UCC. Survivors include two sons, Norman and Reuben of R. 1, New Holstein; a daughter, Mrs. John (Gertrude) Konz of R. 1, Elkhart Lake; 14 grand- children and 19 great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. George Stauss of R. 1, Elkhart Lake, Mrs. Ralph Berner of Sheboygan and Mrs. Dale Negley of Columbus, Ohio. HERMAN RIETBROCK Herman A. Rietbrock, 61, a well known Town of Herman farmer, living at Rt. 1, Elkhart Lake, Sheboygan County, died Saturday afternoon at home after a heart attack. Funeral services will be Tuesday at Bethel United Church of Christ, Herman, the Rev. Carl Fried officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Rietbrock was born May 2, 1899, on the Rietbrock homestead farm at Herman, son of the late Andrew and Louise Meyer Rietbrock. He was educated in the district school of the township. He married Viola Hartmann Jan. 9, 1925, in the Town of Rhine, Sheboygan County, and they took up residence on the Rietbrock farm. Mr. Rietbrock was a member of Bethel Church and a former elder. A grandson and sister preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife; a son, (private); a daughter, (private); a brother, William of Herman; a sister, Mrs. Annie Spindler of Beechwood, Sheboygan County, and a granddaughter. LOUISE RIETBROCK MRS. RIETBROCK DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS Mrs. Andrew Rietbrock 69, died Saturday at the farm home in Ada, Sheboygan County. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon from the Bethel Reformed church in the town of Herman, Sheboygan county. Mrs. Rietbrock’s death followed an illness of more than 30 years. Born Louise Meyer in Germany she came to Sheboygan County with her parents and married Andrew Rietbrock in 1886. Survivors are the widower, daughter, two sons, a sister and brother. WILHELM RIETBROCK William Rietbrock, 83, life-long resident of town of Herman, who died Monday at St. Nicholas hospital, where he had been a patient since March 7, will be held Thursday at the home of a son, Arthur, in Ada and at Bethel Reformed church, town of Herman. The Rev. William Bollman, pastor, and Professor Ernest Traeger of the Mission House of Franklin will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Rietbrock was born on Feb. 24, 1849, in Westphalen, Germany. At the age of four years he immigrated to America. In 1879 he married Miss Elizabeth Bender and the couple located on a farm in the town of Herman, seven miles east of Kiel. For a number of years he rented the farm to his sons, Louis and Arthur, and nine years ago he sold it to his son Arthur. Eight children were born to the union of whom two children died in their youth. His wife preceded in death in 1897. In 1899 Mr. Rietbrock was married a second time to Miss Christina Haase of Sheboygan, who preceded him in death in 1922. Two children were born to them by his second marriage. Survivors are eight children as follows; Mrs. Henry M????, Mrs. George Strauss and Mrs. Peter Adam of the town of Rhine, Louis Rietbrock, of the town of Herman, Arthur of Ada, and William of North Dakota, all children by the first marriage, and Mrs. Albert Eimmermann and Mrs. Dale ???? of Akron, Ohio, children of the second marriage. WILHELMINE RIETBROCK MISS RIETBROCK AGED CLEVELAND RESIDENT, DIES Miss Minnie Rietbrock, 72, a life-long resident of the town of Herman, died Saturday afternoon at the home of her nephew, Louis Rietbrock, Cleveland, R. 1. Miss Rietbrock was born in Germany but came to the United States as a child and spent her lifetime in the neighborhood in which she died. She is survived by two brothers, William and Andrew Rietbrock and a sister, Mrs. Henry Meyer, town of Herman as well as a number of more distant relatives. The funeral is to take place Tuesday from the house followed by a service at Bethel church, town of Herman, conducted by the Rev. Thiele. Interment will be in Bethel cemetery. The couple had resided on the town of Herman farm for the past 43 years. Surviving are the wife; four sons, Paul at home, Milton of Venedy, Ill., Calvin of Baldwin, Wis., and Henry of the town of Herman; eight grand- children; and three brothers, Walter of Ada, Martin of Sheboygan and Theodore of Plymouth. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Services will be Tuesday at the Bethel Evangelical and Reformed Church, near Ada, with the Rev. Wolfgang Koehler, pastor, officiating. MINNA SPINDLER Mrs. Minna Spindler, 72, died late Wednesday afternoon at her farm home near Ada in the town of Herman. She had been ill several months. The former Minna Fintelmann, she was born Jan. 14, 1885, in the town of Herman, a daughter of the late Henry and Wilhelmina Spitzer Fintelmann. She received her education in the district school and was married to John Spindler Dec. 30, 1905. The couple lived in the town of Rhine five years and lived at the present farm the past 47 years. Her husband died in April 1953. Survivors are four sons, Milton of Venedy, Ill., Calvin of Baldwin, Harry and Paul in the town of Herman; 11 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Karsteadt and Miss Clara Fintelmann of Sheboygan, Mrs. Albert Meussling of Buffalo, NY, and a brother, Louis, of the town of Herman. Four brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death. She was a member of Bethel Evangelical and Reformed Church in the town of Herman where funeral services will be held Saturday. The Rev. LOUIS STIEGHORST Louis Stieghorst, 64, of route 1, Newton, died Saturday evening at the Elm Convalescent home, 1101 Clara avenue, after a lingering illness. Born Dec. 21, 1885, in the town of Mosel, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stieghorst, he attended district schools and was employed as a Sheboygan street department employee for several years. He was unmarried. For the past 20 years, Mr. Stieghorst had made his home with a nephew, Arthur Karsteadt, on a farm near Osman, in Manitowoc county. Only immediate survivor is a brother, Jacob, Sheboygan. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Ballhorn Funeral chapels, with the Rev. Alben Bode, pastor of St. Peter and St. John Lutheran church, Cleveland, officiating. Burial will be made near Ada. EMMA VOSS Mrs. William Voss, 81, a former resident of the town of Meeme, died early today at St. Nicholas hospital, where she had been a patient for the past three weeks. Nee Emma Schwalenberg, the deceased was born June 8, 1869, in Manitowoc county and was married to William Voss on March 5, 1889. The couple resided on a farm in the town of Meeme until Mr. Voss’ death on June 28, 1937. For the past 13 years Mrs. Voss had been making her home with her children. Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Edward Dickmann of Kiel, Mrs. Otto Kohlberg of Sheboygan, and Mrs. John Kaun and Mrs. Ernest Anderson of Milwaukee; and seven sons, William of Millhome, Arvin and Henry of Milwaukee, Herbert of Farmington, Wis., Edgar of Sheboygan, Arthur of the town of Meeme, and Raymond of Cleveland. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Louis Voss of the town of Meeme, Mrs. Ida Arnold of Kiel and Mrs. Herman Zill of Sheboygan. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bethel Evangelical and Reformed church near Ada. The Rev. W. C. Koehler, pastor, will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery. WILLIAM VOSS William Voss, Town Meeme, Dies Following Short Illness William Voss, 70, life-long resident of the town of Meeme, passed away Monday at his home after an illness of about 3 weeks. He was born on the Voss homestead in the town of Meeme, on March 7, 1867, and on March 5, 1889 he was united in marriage with Miss Emma Schwalenberg, and the couple, after living for two years on the homestead, moved to the present residence. Thirteen children were born to them, one of which died in infancy. Survivors are the widow; five daughters, Mrs. Edward Dickmann, Mrs. Arthur Rietbrock of Sheboygan, Mrs. John Kaun and Mrs. Ernest Anderson of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Ray Schleh of Chilton; seven sons, William of the town of Meeme; Arvin, Herbert, Edgar and Henry, all of Milwaukee, and Arthur and Raymond at home; one brother, John of the town of Schleswig, and nineteen grandchildren, and one great- grandchild. Fueral(sic) services were held this Thursday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the home, and at 2 o'clock services were held at the Bethel Reformed church near Ada, with the Rev. ELIZABETH WAGNER Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Wagner, 76, of Route 1, Sheboygan, will be held at the Bethel Evangelical and Reformed Church at Ada. The Rev. Lloyd Weber, pastor, will officiate. Committal rites will be conducted at the grave on the family lot in the church cemetery. Mrs. Wagner died Wednesday morning at her home in Howards Grove following a short illness. She was born Aug. 6, 1878, in Town Herman, a daughter of the late Jacob and Emma Spindler, attended rural schools, and was married to Jacob Wagner on April 26, 1900. After settling in Kiel for several years after their marriage, the couple purchased a farm in the town of Liberty (Manitowoc County) which they operated for 34 years. Since 1946, Mrs. Wagner had made her home at Howards Grove. She was a life-long member of Bethel Evangelical and Reformed Church at Ada. Survivors are four sons, Arthur, of Howards Grove, Arno and Edgar, of Town Schleswig, and Arvin of Greenbush; seven grandchildren, and four sisters, Mrs. August Ebeling, Sheboygan, Mrs. William Bramstedt, Howards Grove, Mrs. Otto Arnhoelter, Town Herman, and Mrs. Fred Mauer, Kiel. JOSEPH WAGNER Joseph Wagner, aged 58, resident of the town of Liberty, near Pigeon Lake, Manitowoc County, died at the Holy Family hospital at Manitowoc Sunday from injuries received early Wednesday morning when he was assisting to extinguish the fire which destroyed the two-story frame home of the farm of his neighbor, John Bysbalis,(sic) route 2, Valders. Mr. Wagner fell from the roof of the burning building and was picked up unconscious. Mr. Wagner was born Dec. 25, 1875 in the Town of Meeme on the Wagner homestead, the son of Michael and Agnes Wagner. In April 1897 he was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Spindler of the town of Herman. For two years after their marriage, the couple resided in Kiel and for the past twenty-six years they lived on the present Wagner farm. Besides his wife, Mr. Wagner is survived by four sons, Arthur, Arno, Arvin, at home and Edgar of the town of Schleswig; three sisters, Mrs. Jacob Ramminger, who lives near Kiel; Mrs. William Ramminger of the town of Meeme and Mrs. Joseph Knop of Kiel; and a brother, Matthias of Richmond, Cal. One daughter died in infancy. The body can be viewed at the C. J. Meiselwitz Funeral Home at Kiel after which it will be taken to the Wagner home where funeral services will be held Wednesday and at Bethel Reformed church in the town of Herman. The Rev. ANNA WESTPFAHL Mrs. Anna Westpfahl, 78, of Route 2, Sheboygan, died Saturday afternoon at her home near the Village of Erdman. A resident of Sheboygan County her entire life, she was born March 25, 1879, on a farm in the Town of Herman, a daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth Neuhaus. She attended rural school at Ada and on May 11, 1901, was married to Carl Westpfahl. The couple made their home at Ada for nine years before moving to Erdman. Mrs. Westpfahl was a charter member of the Ebenezer Evangelical and Reformed church in Sheboygan and four years ago became a charter member of Faith Evangelical and Reformed Church at Erdman. She also was a member of the Ladies’ Aid Society of the church. Survivors are the husband; two sons, Edgar of Erdman and Arthur of Sheboygan; a daughter, Mrs. Carl (Edna) Kernen, Erdman; five grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Valentine Hameister of Elkhart Lake, Mrs. Edwin Hameister, Sheboygan, and Mrs. William Reineking of route 2, Sheboygan; and a brother, Albert Neuhaus, Elkhart Lake. Three sisters and a brother preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at Fait Evangelical and Reformed church at Erdman. CARL WESTPFAHL Funeral services for Carl A. Westpfahl, 83, of Route 2, Sheboygan will be held at Faith Evangelical and Reformed Church at Erdman. The Rev. Ruben G Grosshuesch will officiate. Burial will be made in the family lot in Bethel Evangelical and Reformed Church Cemetery in the Town of Meeme. Mr. Westpfahl, a retired farmer, died Friday morning at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital. A resident of Sheboygan County his entire life, he was born Dec. 27, 1874, in the Town of Herman, a son of the late August and Bertha Westpfahl, and attended rural schools. In his youth, he became a harness maker by trade and operated a harness shop at Ada until 1910 and then at Erdman until 1921. Later, he operated a small farm at Erdman until his retirement several years ago. Since his retirement, he was engaged in the hobby of raising bees and owned an apiary at Erdman at the time of his death. His wife, the former Miss Anna Neuhaus, died last Jan. 11. The couple was married at Ada on May 11, 1901. Mr. Westpfahl was a charter member of Ebenezer Evangelical and Reformed Church in Sheboygan and served as a deacon for several years. Four years ago, when Faith Church was established at Erdman, he and his family became charter members of that church. Survivors are two sons, Edgar of Erdman, and Arthur, Sheboygan; a daughter, Mrs. Carl (Edna Kernen, Erdman; five grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Edward Brickner, Glenbeulah. ALVIN ZIMMERMANN Alvin C. Zimmermann, 75, of 101 Washington St., Elkhart Lake, a retired Town of Rhine farmer, died Friday afternoon at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital. He had been hospitalized the past week. Born Oct. 27, 1897 in the Town of Rhine, a son of the late John W. and Helena Sinner Zimmermann, he attended district schools and the Sheboygan Business College. On Nov. 20, 1920 he married Norma Voss in the Town of Meeme. After their marriage the couple settled on the Zimmermann homestead farm which they operated until retiring 10 years ago when they moved to Elkhart Lake. Mr. Zimmermann was a member and former elder of Bethel United Church of Christ, Town of Herman, and for 20 years served as clerk of the Rhine Center District School Board. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary in November, 1970. Survivors are his widow; a son, Marvin, on the homestead farm at R. 1, Elkhart Lake; two grandchildren, and a brother, Edgar of R. 1, Elkhart Lake. Three brothers preceded him in death. MARVIN ZIMMERMANN Marvin E. Zimmermann, 63, of Route 1, Elkhart Lake, died Wednesday evening at his home after an apparent heart attack. Mr. Zimmermann was born July 8, 1923, in the Town of Rhine, a son of the late Alvin and Norma Voss Zimmermann. He attended public schools at Rhine Center. On Nov. 6, 1948, he married Betty Ann Athorp at St. Paul United Church of Christ in the Town of Mosel. Mr. Zimmermann farmed in the Town of Rhine his entire life. He was a lifelong member of Bethel United Church of Christ in the Town of Herman, where he was on the church consistory. Mr. Zimmermann had served on the Rhine Center School Board, was a member of the Farm Bureau of Town of Rhine, was a past leader of Town of Rhine 4-H, and was a charter member of the Sheboygan County 4-H Meat Animal Sale. NORMA ZIMMERMANN Mrs. Norma Zimmermann, 78, of 1012 Washington St., Elkhart Lake, widow of Alvin, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning shortly after being admitted to Sheboygan Memorial hospital. The former Norma Voss, she was born Feb. 4, 1899, in the Town of Meeme, Manitowoc County, a daughter of Louis and Albertina Schwalenberg Voss. She attended Pigeon River School in the township. On Nov. 20, 1920, she was married to Mr. Voss [sic] in the Town of Meeme. After their marriage the couple resided on the Zimmermann homestead farm in the Town of Rhine, until their retirement in the 1963,[sic] when they moved to Elkhart Lake. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1970. Mr. Zimmermann died on Oct. 5, 1973. Mrs. Zimmermann was a life member of Bethel United Church of Christ, Town of Herman, and a member of the Ladies Aid Society. Survivors are a son, Marvin of R. 1, Elkhart Lake; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Mahlich of R. 2, Kiel, and Mrs. Rheinhold Roethel of Kiel; two brothers, Alvin Voss of R. 1, Cleveland, and Harvey of Manitowoc. A sister and four brothers preceded her in death. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Bethel UCC in the Town of Herman. The Rev. Ward W. Malloy, pastor, will officiate.
