
JAN ETZLER From Der Nord Westen, 13 Aug. 1903: John Etzler of Reedsville, who was on a visit to Deerbrook, Oconto County, died there Wed. last week of a stroke. The deceased was 58 yrs. old and leaves a widow and several children. Until his death he had enjoyed the best of health. His body was brought to Reedsville and buried there Friday. FRANK KABAT From Der Nord Westen, 15 Feb. 1894: Death in Reedsville on Mon., 05 Feb., of Franz Kabath after a long illness with consumption. The funeral took place on Thursday.
EMMA KRCH From Der Nord Westen, 05 Aug. 1909: Death in Rockland Wednesday last week of 16-year old Emma Kirch, daughter of Frank Kirch, of consumption. The funeral was held Friday.
FLORIAN LINK From Der Nord Westen, 27 Nov. 1879: Death of Mr. Florian Link on Mon., 24 Nov., in Reedsville. He leaves a wife and three children. Burial takes place today.
MATEJ NENAHLO BRUTAL MURDER AT REEDSVILLE Manitowoc, April ? --An old man named Matthias Nenalo, aged about fifty five years, was brutally murdered at the village of Reedsville, this county, Monday, by four young men named Morask, as announced in Tuesday’s Wisconsin, briefly. They claimed that Nenalo’s son owed them $4 which he refused to pay. The old man interceded in his son’s behalf, whereupon one of them struck him on the head with a club, felling him to the floor. They then beat him about the head and chest with a chair until life was nearly extinct. He lingered until morning, when he died, not having regained consciousness from the time he was struck. Two of the murderers were arrested and brought here last night, and lodged in jail. Another was captured here this morning. A photo of my Great Grandfather, Frank Shimek (Franz Schimeck). He lived in Rockland Township west of Reedsville. I have copies of Civil War Discharge, Record of land purchased from the state, his last will and testament and a photo of him as a young man about to join the Civil war. His son, Stephen S. Shimek/1881-1936 (sent in by researcher/see contributors page)BARBORA SVATEK TOTAL OF 149 DESCENDANTS SURVIVE PIONEER REEDSVILLE WOMAN WHO DIES AT AGE OF 85 One hundred forty-nine descendants mourn the death of Mrs. Barbara Svatek, pioneer Reedsville woman, who passed away Sunday at the home of her son, Emil Svatek at Maple Grove, with whom she had made her home in later years, there being five children, forty-five grand children, ninety-seven great grand children and two great great grand children of the surviving relatives, probably one of the largest families of the county. Mrs. Svatek's death removes another of the older settlers of the county. Born in Bohemia, January 5, 1842, Mrs. Svatek had past her 85th birthday when the summons came to her. She was married to Frank Svatek, who preceded her in death, on August 14, 1858 and the couple came to Manitowoc county, in 1864, settling on a farm in the town of Cato, where they remained until Mr. Svatek's death. Mrs. Svatek, since that time has made her home with her children. Five of eight children born to Mr. and Mrs. Svatek, survive, being Mrs. John Hayek, Antigo; Mrs. Joseph Naidle, Whitelaw; Mrs. Wenzel Tenor, Reedsville and Emil and Frank of Reedsville. Funeral services for Mrs. Svatek will be held Tuesday morning from St. Mary's church at Reedsville with interment in the cemetery near the church. ANTONIA TIKALSKY Old Resident of Reedsville Dies Today Mrs. Matthew Tikalsky, pioneer resident of Reedsville, is dead at the home of her son Joseph Tiklasky on the old home farm near Reedsville. Mrs. Tikalsky was 74 years of age and death resulted from infirmities of age. Funeral services will be held from St. Mary's Catholic church Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock. Mrs. Tikalsky, nee Antonia Zoracek, is survived by two sons Joseph and Anton, both of Reedsville, and four daughters Mrs. Joseph Vondrachek, Reedsville, Mrs. Joseph Vobichka, Maribel, Mrs. Kerner, Hollandtown and Mrs. Frank Kabat, Greenleaf. FRANTISEK VONDRACEK (d. 1917) WELL KNOWN MAPLE GROVE PIONEER DEAD Frank Vondrachek Was one of Last of Founders St. Mary’s Church Frank Vondrachek, a pioneer resident of Maple Grove and one of the few surviving founders of St. Mary’s Catholic congregation there 52 years ago, died at his home yesterday at the advanced age of 73 years. The funeral will be held at Maple Grove Thursday. Mr. Vondrachek, was born in Bohemia and came to America as a young man, locating at Maple Grove where for sixty years he has been a resident.
