The deceased, who was born in Schleswig-Holstein, came to America with her late husband in 1873. The family settled in Chicago at first, but later moved to Manitowoc. RUDOLPH H. JAEHNIG Rudolph H. Jaehnig, 91, of Shady Lane Home, Manitowoc, died early Wednesday, May 29, 1991, at Shady Lane Home. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Rev. Bruce McKenney will officiate with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. He was born December 17, 1899, in the town of Centerville, Manitowoc County, son of the late Ernest and Louise Hauenstein Jaehnig. He attended school at Centerville and was a self employed cheese maker in the town of Two Rivers for many years. He married the former Erna Baryenbruch on August 14, 1920, at Newtonburg, Wis. Jandrey, age 74, Manitowoc, died Friday morning, May 17, 2002 at the Manitowoc Health Care Center after a short battle with lung cancer and congestive heart failure. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2002 at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1033 S. Eighth St., Manitowoc, with the Rev. Bruce Bitter and the Rev. Waldemar Loescher officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Charles was born Sept. 16, 1927 in the town of Cato, Manitowoc County, to the late Charles and Minnie Wunrow Jandrey Sr. He was employed by various building contractors in Milwaukee and Manitowoc. Charles represented the Construction Laborers Union, Local 1067 as secretary/treasurer and business manager from 1965 to 1976. He then was promoted to field representative for the Laborers Local Union 1086 and held that position until his retirement on Jan. 1, 1988. He was married on May 6, 1951 at St. John-St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Reedsville. He was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife: three sons and one daughter-in-law: one daughter: two granddaughters, five brothers and sisters-in-law, two sisters. He is further survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Also numerous nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters-in-law: Audrey (Krueger) Jandrey and Josephine (Behnke) Kraus; and three brothers-in-law: Willard Dickert, Howard Zahn and Roland Behnke. PAUL J. JANSKY "Mr. Paul J. Jansky, died Sunday morning May 27, 2001, at the North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center of Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Dave Hoffman at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc, at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001. Burial of his cremated remains will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Paul was born May 31, 1915, in Manitowoc, son of the late Frank Jansky and Mary Sladky Jansky. On Nov. 15, 1941, he married Estelle M. Zinski in Milwaukee. Paul graduated from Lincoln High school in 1932. He attended St. Mary's College in Winona, MN and Hohenschu College in St. Louis, MO, graduating as a Funeral Director and Embalmer. Paul worked in that profession for many years. He later associated with the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company and Whitehouse Milk Company in Manitowoc as a laboratory chemist and technician. Paul was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church, Manitowoc. Paul was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #710, Manitowoc. He was also a member of the YMCA. HERMANN H. JARR DIED In Milwaukee, on Tuesday the 22d inst. Capt. Hermann II Jarr, aged 43 years. Capt. Jarr has been a resident of this County some ten or twelve years, and during most of the time has sailed on the lakes. At the time of his death he was Captain and part owner of the Schooner Jane Louisia. At the close of navigation he laid up his vessel and remained in Milwaukee for the benefit of medical aid, for a disease from which he had suffered serious inconvenience during the greater part of the past year. The news of his death came very unexpectedly to his wife, who had no idea that a fatal termination was so near. He leaves but one child, a boy about ten years old, who was with him in Milwaukee. URSULA JARR From Der Nord Westen, 17 Aug. 1893: Death on Mon. noon of Ursula Jarr in the home of her only son, John Jarr in Town Manitowoc Rapids. The deceased, who reached the age of 67 yrs. 6 mos., died of liver cancer. She was born in the Kingdom of Bavaria and came to Manitowoc County in 1846. EVELYN K. JENS Evelyn was an only child, born on August 6, 1897 in Cleveland (WI). When she was 16, she and her parents took an eight-month trip by train to the West Coast to visit friends and relatives. Later, Evelyn worked in the office at the Pauly Cheese Company. Evelyn married Elmer Jens. They had one son who lives in South Carolina; there are several grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Evelyn enjoys playing bridge and sheepshead. JOHNSON Captain John Johnson, a resident of Manitowc for the greater part of his life, passed away this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joseph Ladwig, 711 Sycamore Street, Milwaukee. Captain Johnson who was 80 years of age, was born in Norway. He was the owner of a schooner which sailed out of this port. He used to reside on North Fourth Street, but left Manitowoc five years ago and since that time had made his home in Milwaukee. Mrs. Johnson has been dead for many years. Surviving relatives are his daughter with whom he had made his home and four sons, Frank of Manitowoc, Joseph of Milwaukee, John of Milwaukee, Edward of Kewaunee and a sister, Miss Maggie Johnson of Milwaukee. The body will arrive in Manitowoc Monday morning and the funeral services will be held at Evergreen chapel Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock, the Rev. E. J. Symons of St. Paul’s M. E. church officiating. He was the first mayor of the City of Manitowoc to which he was elected in 1870, and also served several other offices. He is survived by 7 children and 2 stepchildren. ANN JONES Manitowoc Tribune Vol. 18 No. 18, Thursday August 17, 1871, Page 4 Column 7 Jones. -- In the village of Neshoto August 8th, Mrs. Anna, wife of J.O. Jones, aged 41 years. The deceased was born in North Wales and had only been in this country about three months when she was attacked with inflamation of the heart; which in a short time terminated her earthly existence; she sank away in peaceful slumber about noon of the 8th inst. She leaves behind a husband and son who deeply mourn her loss, but who no doubt realize that their loss is her gain; for when no doubt was a true lover of Christ and christian institutions. Her friends and countrymen testified very plainly by their acts of devotion and kindness since she came here, of a heart-felt love and esteem for the departed. Mr. Jones was born in Watertown but had lived here a long time. The 46-yr. old man was Vice President of W.G. Jones Lumber Co. He is survived by his widow (daughter of the late banker T.C. Shove) and 2 sons. The funeral took place Sun. in the local city cemetery.

It appears that I may have another family member that could be removed from cemetery X. The Mary Ann Jones that is listed as wife of John Jones should be the one of the unknown Jones buried 06/04/1862 in Evergreen #44. The LDS shows her as being born as Mary Ann Merrifield on July 18, 1813 and dieing on June 1, 1862 in Manitowoc, wife of John Jones. The other burial listed as unknown may be her husband John Jones but I cannot confirm this at this time.

ROSALIE JORSCH From Der Nord Westen, 22 Feb. 1900: Death Tues. evening about 5 p.m. of Mrs. Theodor Jorsch here of a stroke. The deceased was feeling perfectly well at noon but shortly afterward felt infirm, went to bed, called a doctor about 3 o’clock but at that point no one realized that a stroke would cause her death at 5 p.m. Mrs. Jorsch was born 02 Sep. 1839 in Germany and came to America in 1863. She married Mr. Jorsch in Logansport, Indiana, with whom she later came to Manitowoc. In addition to her grieving husband she is survived by 5 children. THEODORE JORSCH From Der Nord Westen, 21 Apr. 1904: Another of our county's pioneers is gone. Theodor Jorsch, one of the best known residents of our city, died Mon. morning of Bright's disease. He was ill for several years, but has only been bedridden for the last 10 days. Theodor Jorsch was born 1839 in Luxemburg, thus reaching the age of 65. When he was six his parents came to America and settled in Town Newton, then a wilderness. Here the boy enjoyed all the joys and pressures of pioneer life. When he was older and strong enough he learned wagon making, then carpentry and helped the farmers in Town Newton and the adjoining towns to build their homes. At the outbreak of the Civil War he joined the 14th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment and served 2 yrs. in Company G until he was severely wounded in the hip during the battle of Pittsburg Landing. When healed, he had to be mustered out. Upon returning here he got into port construction and worked on the harbors of Manitowoc, Chicago, Ashland, etc., until he had to give up his work because of kidney disease. Mr. Jorsch was twice married. His first was Rosalie Liebert whom he married in 1865 and who died in 1900, leaving him with 5 children, namely, Mrs. J.C. Rehm in Ashland, Mrs. Frank Heffermann here, Oscar in South Chicago, Theodor in Chicago, and Arthur in Alabama. He later married the widow Mrs. Krumheuer, who survives him. His heavily attended funeral was conducted yesterday under the direction of the local Post of the G.A.R., and the German Odd Fellows Lodge, to both of which he belonged. ********* [cause: Brights disease]

EDWARD JUUL From Der Nord Westen, 26 Jan. 1905: A stroke took the life Thurs. last week of Edward Juul, well-known resident of our city. The deceased, who was born 1845 in Norway, came to America as a young man and settled in Manitowoc. In the last part of the war he served in Company G in the 7th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment. For many years he served as a clerk in the Schuette Bros. store until a few years ago when he opened a sweet shop, which he had to give up recently. He leaves a widow and 8 children.
