OSULD T. BREDESEN Ex-Judge Bredesen Dies at Age of 65 MANITOWOC-Osuld T. Bredesen, judge of Municipal Court 18 years and a veteran of World War I, died Monday night at Maplecrest Sanitorium, Whitelaw, following a long illness. He was 65. Judge Bredesen, a native of Stoughton, Wis., where he was born Aug. 16, 1893, served municipal court from May 1, 1933, until his resignation June 1, 1951. He succeeded the late Judge Albert H. Schmidt, who served in that capacity 28 years. At the time Judge Bredesen resigned Harold W. Mueller was appointed by Gov. Kohler to be seated on the bench in his place, a position he has had continuously since. Judge Bredesen retired because of physical disabilities midway in his fifth four-year term. The Order of the Purple Heart has been presented to Judge Bredesen Dec. 7, 1932, by the War Department for his gallantry in the first war. He served for 13 months and was a member of the Second Division, Fifth Regiment, of the U.S. Marine corps. He held the rank of corporal. Wounded in France The judge was seriously wounded during the historic battle of Belleau Wood in France June 6, 1918. He and two other marines were the only ones of his company to survive. The machine gun wounds were so severe that the judge was unable to return to active duty. It was while he was recuperating from these war wounds at Camp Barry, Great Lakes, Ill., that he married Stella Engeldinger April 5, 1920. A Marine chaplain performed the ceremony. The son of the late Rev. Adolph and Inanda Torrison Bredesen attended Luther college at Decorah, Iowa, for a year before enrolling at Marquette University School of Law. He was graduated from the Wisconsin school in 1924 and moved to Manitowoc where he began the practice of law. He also was credit manager for the O. Torrison Co. The judge and a buddy, Thomas Rowley, of Chicago were reunited at Manitowoc in March of 1937. The chance meeting occurred when the judge read a notice inserted by Rowley in a Veterans publication. Five Children Shortly after Judge Bredesen resigned his judgeship he and Mrs. Bredesen disposed of their residence at 1117 S. Eighth St., and moved to Venice, Fla., where a brother, the Rev. Alfred Bredesen, served a church. The Bredesens returned to Manitowoc in February of last year and established residence at 803 Pine St. The Bredesens observed their silver wedding anniversary in 1945, an occasion for them to recall the 13th anniversary of their wedding, for it was April 5, 1933, that he was elected municipal judge. Judge Bredesen was a member of Drews-Bleser Post, American Legion, Wisconsin Bar Assn., Elks Lodge, 40 ?? ? of the Legion and the Eagles Aerie of this city. JACOB BREI DIED: Jacob Brey (sic), Jr., died at his home in Manitowoc Rapids Wednesday forenoon. He had been in declining health for several months but his condition was not thought critical. Death was due to a complication of troubles. He was about 45 years of age. Besides his wife he leaves his father, a step-brother and a step- sister, Mrs. Ackerman, both of Milwaukee. His wife before her marriage was Miss Rosa Link, daughter of the late Frank Link of Liberty. On matters pertaining to the support of his father the deceased had been involved in litigation with the city and Manitowoc Rapids for some years. There is at present a suit pending in circuit court. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon from the home at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery. Manitowoc Pilot Thursday, January 26, 1911 pg. 1 ********* BREY SIGNS TO PAY Affixes Name to Contract for $9 Per Month for Father Failing in an attempt to have his father committed to the county asylum as a poor charge and threatened with immediate prosecution, Jacob Brey, Jr., has signed a contract to pay $9 per month to August Kaems, who will board and care for his aged parent. The agreement was drafted in probate court today when Brey appeared on summons of the city and was given a last chance to pay the sum which he was ordered to ten days ago. Brey, Jr., objected to permitting Mr. Kaems to care for his father but when it came to a choice of facing a suit or paying, he yielded. Brey has held out against the city for weeks. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Saturday, December 1, 1906 P. 1 ******* DEATH MAY END FAMOUS BREY (sic) CASE Jacob Brey Jr., Died at Home in Rapids Today, Aged 44 Death has halted the famous Brey case pending in circuit court and forced an adjournment over the term if it has not closed the case entirely, by claiming Jacob Brey Jr., the defendant in the action whose demise occurred at his home in Rapids at 11 o'clock this morning. Brey's death followed a protracted illness of several months which was the basis for postponement of the trial when it was scheduled to be taken up earlier in the January calendar of the court. Brey, who was 44 years of age, a native of Rapids, a life resident of the town has been in litigation for four years with the city of Manitowoc and Town of Rapids over demands of the municipalities that he contribute to the support of his aged father, Jacob Brey Sr. The present action in court is an appeal from probate court in the case of the Town of Rapids vs Brey in which the probate court issued an order compelling Brey to pay $2.50 per week for support of his parent. The case was heard in July and the order was issued at that time. Brey appealed and furnished bonds and had thus evaded payment of the weekly stipend. The appeal was on the jury calendar of the present term of court but under an agreement of attorneys in the case, Healy and Joyce, for the town board and Kelly and Wyseman for Brey, it was taken from the jury calendar and placed upon the court calendar for hearing later in the term. The delay was taken owing to illness of Brey. Brey had been involved in a series of suits with the City of Manitowoc and Town of Rapids over his refusal to contribute to the support of his father, Jacob Brey Sr. Past 80 years of age, Brey Sr., claimed to have deeded his farm to the son and a bond of maintenance was given by Brey Jr., was later released when the son paid a certain sum. The aged father was later robbed of the money, he declared, and penniless and ill, applied to the city and town for aid. Brey Jr. defeated the city in an action against him on the grounds that his father was not a resident of the city but later took the aged man into his home. Brey Sr. refused to remain with his son however, and later was supported by the town, the officials of which sued Brey Jr. in probate court. An order was issued compelling the son to pay $2.50 per week but an appeal was taken. Whether an attempt will now be made to hold Brey's estate for the order of probate court, $2.50 per week since July and for future care of Brey Sr., is a question, but in this event the executor of Brey's estate would probably be substituted for the dead man as a defendant. The order of probate court it is said, has the same effect as a judgment and is collectible from the state and the Town of Rapids will probably press the claim. In any event, it is probable the case will be adjourned over the present term of court. The death of Mr. Brey followed an illness of several moths and was due to Bright's disease. During the past year or two, Brey had been a victim of fate and for months had been incapacitated for work as result of accidents. Brey sustained a fracture of his leg in an accident and had just recovered from the injury when the limb was again fractured in the same place. Born at Rapids, January 22, 1866, Jacob Brey had passed his life in the county and was well known in city and county. He was married in 1891 to Rosa Link, the widow who survives him. Besides his widow, Brey is survived by his aged father, a step brother, Joseph of Milwaukee and a step sister, Mrs. Ackerman, also of Milwaukee. The funeral will be held from the late home in Rapids Saturday afternoon with interment at Evergreen in the city. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Wed., Jan. 25, 1911 ******* RAPIDS FARMER IS HURT Jacob Brey(sic) Jr., Thrown From Wagon on Middle Road Jacob Brey, Jr., a Town of Rapids farmer, was seriously injured in an accident late Friday night while enroute to his home west of the city and is now being cared for at the hospital. Brey was driving on the Middle Road and was halted between two tracks of the C & NW by a freight train which blocked the track. His horse became ?? and Brey lost control of the animal which, in attempting to turn, threw Brey from the wagon and he was rendered unconscious by the force of the fall. A severe fracture of the leg between the knee and the ankle resulted and it was feared that internal injuries had been inflicted. Brey was removed to the hospital in the city patrol and Drs. Staehle and Kemper attended him. According to Brey's statement the freight train blockaded the track for twenty minutes and his horse became restless. The tracks are outside the city limits. Brey is the man who had trouble with the city over the questions of providing for support of his aged father. He is said to be prosperous. JOHN BRENNAN (d. 1931) MONOXIDE FATAL TO VALDERS MAN JOHN BRENNAN ENDS LIFE UNDER MOTOR OF CAR Prominent Valders Business Man, Despondent Because of Ill Health Found Dead at Crystal Lake Despondent because of ill health, and suffering from a nervous breakdown, John F. Brennan, 38, former president of the village of Valders, a world war veteran, present head of the Legion post there, and manager of the Ford garage at Valders ended his life, shortly after eight o'clock Sunday morning at Crystal Lake, by lying down under his car and inhaling the fumes of the exhaust. His dead body was discovered a few minutes later by a passing motorist, but he was beyond human aid. Mr. Brennan, who was one of the best known men of the community, had been at the Christel cottage at Crystal Lake most of the summer, after returning from a sanitarium at Milwaukee. Saturday evening he had complained to his wife and children, who were with him at the cottage that he could not sleep. Early Sunday morning he arose and told his wife he was going for a supply of food for the day and jumped into his coupe and was off before Mrs. Brennan could accompany him. Found by Motorist Driving less than a couple of blocks from the cottage he turned the car off the road into a clump of trees and leaving the motor running dropped to the ground with his head pillowed near the deadly exhaust. A passing motorist, thinking he was repairing his car called asking if he wanted help. Receiving no reply he investigated and found Mr. Brennan under the car. He shut off the motor and summoned aid but the Valders man was dead. The coroner was notified but no inquest was held. The deceased was born at Hayton, Calumet county, thirty-eight years ago and when sixteen years of age came to Valders where he took up railroad telegraphy and became a station operator for the Soo line there. Later he was located at Franklin Park, Kolze and Desplaines (sic) stations for the Soo in Illinois. In 1916 he enlisted in the navy during the World War as a radio operator and was assigned to the Great Lakes Naval station, north of Chicago where he remained for ten months as an instructor and later was transferred to Cambridge, Mass., where he remained in the government service until the end of the war. Married in 1917 While in the service he returned to Valders for a furlough and was married there on January 2, 1917 to Tillie Christel, daughter of W.F. Christel, prominent Valders business man. After the war Mr. Brennan became manager of the Ford Garage and Implement Co., at Valders and was also secretary and treasurer of the Valders-Collins Oil Co. The deceased served for five years as president of the village retiring from public office last spring, on account of poor health. He was also commander of the Thompson-Burkart Post of the American Legion at Valders, which organization will have charge of the funeral services. KATHLEEN ANN BRENNON Brennon Girl, 4, Dies of Injuries Manitowoc Tot Hit by Car on Friday Kathleen Brennon, 4, died Friday without regaining consciousness after she was struck by a car on Waldo Boulevard Thursday afternoon. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis L. Brennon, 1131 N. 18th St., who moved to Manitowoc in June. Dr. Theodore Teitgen, Manitowoc County coroner, said she died of a cerebral hemorrhage brought on by a skull fracture received in the accident. Her fourth birthday had been the week before, on Aug. 1. The girl’s death was the second traffic fatality in the city of Manitowoc this year. According to police reports, she was riding a tricycle down a driveway on Waldo Boulevard Thursday afternoon while playing house with a sister. Thrown From Bike The girl’s tricycle shot out into the boulevard and clipped a rear tire of a car driven by Frank P. Miller, 64, of 1705-19th St., Two Rivers. Police said the girl was apparently thrown from the bike and struck her head on the pavement. She was unconscious when taken to the Manitowoc County Memorial Hospital and remained in a coma until her death at 5 p.m. Friday. Dr. Teitgen said he would confer with Dist. Atty. Donald Bero about a possible inquest into the accident. Miller told police he didn’t see the child coming down the driveway until it was too late to stop. He swerved his car onto the center island of the boulevard, but it upset the tricycle and the girl was tossed off. Funeral on Monday Funeral services will be held at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Allen McCaul will officiate and burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. EDWARD BREY (d. 1930) Prominent Grocer Victim of Appendicitis Attack EDW. BREY JR. DIES AT HOME LAST EVENING Was Operated on Two Weeks Ago; In Business With Father; Took Over Store 3 Years Ago Suffering an attack of appendicitis two weeks ago yesterday, and undergoing an operation, Edwin Frederick Brey, aged 44, prominent north side grocer, passed away last evening at the family home, 810 North Eighth street. His death was a shock to his family and friends, many of the latter not even knowing that he was in a serious condition. Mr. Brey, who, with his father, had been engaged in the retail grocery and fruit business on the north side here for 25 years, had enjoyed the best of health up to the day he was stricken ill. He was a great sport devotee, and despite his weight, was able to play diamond ball in the same class with players many years his junior. Only two days before he was taken ill he played a game of diamond ball on the Lincoln park grounds as a member of the Herald-News team. Burial on Saturday After his operation Mr. Brey showed signs of improvement and for days strong hopes were held out for his recovery. But Wednesday his condition took a turn for the worse and he passed away at 7:30 last evening. Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 from the home on North Eighth street and at two o'clock from the Emanuel Lutheran church on the north side, with Rev. Uetzman officiating. The deceased was born in this city, February 23, 1886 and has always made his home here. He obtained his education in the local schools and early in life entered the employ of his father, Edward Brey Sr. in the conduct of the grocery and fruit store on North Eighth street, located on the present site of the Dick Bros. store. He was later taken into the business and the firm became known as Edward Brey and Sons. In the year 1914 a new brick store and warehouse was erected by the firm at the southwest corner of North Eight and Chicago streets. Takes Over Business Two and a half years ago Edward Brey Sr. retired from active business and the son then took charge of the business, which he conducted up to the time of his death. He was married September 8, 1910 to Miss Mary Albrecht of Two Rivers, who survives him with two sons, Edwin and Kenneth, his father, Edward Brey Sr., one brother, Walter Brey of Chicago and two sisters, Mrs. Norman Markle of Rochester, Minn., and Mrs. Fred Levenhagen of this city. Was Ardent Fan The death of Mr. Brey removes from the community an ardent sport fan particularly of high school athletics. Both of Mr. Brey's sons, Kenneth, who graduated this last June, and Edwin, who finished two years ago, were prominent in basketball, football and track at Lincoln high school and Mr. Brey was a close follower of the teams on which his sons were members, follwing them to neighboring cities for their contests. Mr. Brey was a devout member of the Lutheran church here. Always of a jovial and happy disposition he counted his friends by the hundreds who will deeply regret the passing of a most promising and progressive young business man. RICHARD BREY DOUBLE TRAGEDY ON RIVER WHEN BOAT IS SWAMPED FRANK SMITH, 18, AND RICHARD BREY, 20, LOSE LIVES WHILE RETURNING HOME FROM WORK AT SHIPYARDS SATURDAY DEATH TOLL OF WATER IS FOUR IN WEEK, 7 THIS YEAR Two lives were lost and a third was imperiled in an accident on the river, at the foot of State street Saturday afternoon when a scow in which three boys, Frank Smith, Richard Brey and Joe Peterson were crossing the river from the island, filled with water. The dead are: Frank Smith, aged 18, 223 N. Seventh street, body recovered. Richard Brey, aged 20, 607 Buffalo street, body recovered. Peterson, the third of the party, reached shore in an exhausted cond- ition after having failed in an attempt to rescue his companions. The double drowning occurred at 5:10 Saturday afternoon when the three boys were returning from work at the Goodrich shops where they are employed. A small flat bottomed scow, owned by George McLaughlin, chief engineer of the Columbus, had been secured by the party to cross the river and they were within fifteen feet of the east bank when the boat filled and floated from under them. Peterson, who can swim, made an attempt to aid Smith and Brey, who clung together as they went down, neither being able to swim, but Peterson was forced to abandon the two after he had gone down with them the first time, and made way to shore and gave the alarm. The body of Brey was recovered after thirty minutes but it was nearly two hours before Smith's body was brought to the surface. Boat Fills With Water- At the time of the accident Peterson was standing at the front end of the scow paddling, Smith was in the rear end and Brey occupied the seat in the center of the boat. The movement of the scow caused water to come over the side but not in sufficient quantity to be dangerous, but suddenly Brey warned his companions that the scow was filling and within a few seconds the boat floated out from under the three and left them struggling in the water. Peterson, realizing the peril of the two boys who could not swim, attempted to save them but after he had been pulled down once, he was forced to save himself and reached shore with difficulty. Smith and Brey were not seen again until their dead bodies were taken from the water by the police. Witnesses To Accident The acident(sic) was witnessed by W. Crocker and a companion who were in a small boat some rods up the river but they were unable to reach the scene in time to render assistance to save the two boys. Peterson gave the alarm and a crowd of several hundred people gathered on the river bank while the police with two boats and grappling hooks made efforts to recover the bodies. Brey's body was brought up a half hour after the accident and physicians who were at the scene made every effort to revive the boy without success. The body was taken in charge by Urbanek & Wattawa and was removed to the home Sunday. The body of Smith was not recovered for nearly two hours after the acident(sic) and there was no hope. The body was given into the charge by Frazier Bros. and removed to the undertaking rooms, and taken to the home late this afternoon. Smith's Parents Absent- A peculiarly sad feature in connection with the tragedy was the absence of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Smith, parents of one of the victims from the city. Mr. Smith, who is in charge of the painting department of the Goodrich company, left the city Friday night with the Columbus and was at Chicago. Mrs. Smith and her daughter, departed for Milwaukee at noon Saturday, intending to continue the trip to Chicago. Messages dispatched to Milwaukee and Chicago located Mr. and Mrs. Smith and the latter arrived in the city on the late train Saturday evening, Mr. Smith being delayed until Sunday morning. Boys Well Liked- Both Smith and Brey were popular young men and their tragic death is deeply deplored. Smith was a student at the high school until recently and was a member of next year's graduating class, but had been advised to leave school temporarily on account of his health and had been employed at the Goodrich shops. He was born in this city February 22, 1895 and had always made his home here. Besides his parents he is sur- vived by one sister, Miss Irma. Brey is a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Brey, Buffalo street, and was born here October 1, 1893. He was formerly employed by Schuette Bros. company and later secured a position with the Goodrich company. His parents, one brother William and a sister, Miss Lillian survive. Funeral Arrangements- No inquest was deemed necessary by Coroner Falge and none will be held. The funeral of the Brey lad will take place tomorrow morning from Sacred Heart church while the burial of the Smith boy will be held Wednesday afternoon from the Presbyterian church. Two Rivers Boy Drowns- The double drowning in this city made for a total of three for the day in the county and four for the week. At Two Rivers Saturday afternoon, Georg Koch, aged 16, while swimming in the Neshoto river, was taken with cramps and drowned before aid could reach him. The body was recovered. Seventh Accident This Year- With the three drownings of Saturday, the death toll of river and lake for the season reaches seven, four in one week. Frank Shipper being the fourth victim. Two previous drownings in this city and one at Two Rivers make up the seven. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Monday, June 23, 1913 p.1 ********* [cause: accidental drowning/bur. on George Brey lot]

ANNA BREZINSKY MRS. BREZINSKY DIES AFTER ONLY SHORT ILLNESS Almost Lifelong Resident of This City The many friends of Mrs. Anna Brezinsky were shocked to hear of her sudden death at the Holy Family hospital at an early hour this morning, Mrs. Brezinsky having died after an illness of only several days, and up until last evening she was feeling fine and then, taking a turn for the worse, she was rushed to the hospital where she died at 3 o'clock this morning. Mrs. Brezinsky nee Anna Paska was born in this city on June 19, 1878, and has made her home here her entire life with the exception of a few years when the family resided at Kewaunee. Her husband, Henry Brezinsky, preceded her in death thirteen years ago, having gone down on the Pere Marquette No. 18 in 1910, the boat upon which he was first mate. Four children, the Misses Helen, Stella and Alice together with Harry Brezinsky survive. Also four sisters, Mmes. Clara Mishalak of this city and Rose Ligewtski, Lawrence Sauer and Frank O'Konsky of Milwaukee; and four brothers, Anton of Los Angeles, John of Kewaunee, Joseph of Milwaukee, and George Paska of Two Rivers. But for the fact that she changed the plans she had had in view for a week and abandoned a trip to Ludington on Thursday, Mrs. Joseph Brezinsky and her five little ones might have with the husband and father of the family, been victims of the carferry 18 disaster Friday, Mr. Brezinsky having gone down with the 18. Mrs. Brezinsky had planned to cross the lake with her children to join her husband at Ludington Thursday to go to Milwaukee but she was advised not to undertake the trip at this time because the No. 18 would not be ready for passengers and she finally decided to wait until later. But for the change in her plans, Mrs. Brezinsky and children would probably have been aboard the ill fated 18 and met death with the husband and father. TEOFIL BREZINSKY MANITOWOC MAN GOES DOWN WITH NO. 18 Joseph Brezinski (sic), first mate of the ill fated Marquette ferry No. 18 who with other officers of the boat lost his life, is a Manitowoc man and resided with his family at ___ Jay street. Brezinski, who was 33 years of age, had followed the lakes for eleven years and had been employed by the Marquette company for some time past. He recently visited his family in this city while the N. 18 was at Ludington for a week after completing the summer season and preparing for winter service. Brezinski is survived by a widow and five children. A message at noon confirmed the report of Brezinski’s death, the message having been forward by a brother who is on the No. 17. There is little probability that Brezinsky’s body will be recovered. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Friday, September 9, 1910 P. 1 ********* This was inserted into front page article regarding wreck of carferry (See the online newspaper for the complete article.) ********* BREZINSKI'S(sic) BODY HERE Body of Victim of 18 Disaster to be Buried in City TUG FINDS RELIC OF THE WRECK Brought here from Milwaukee Sunday, the body of Joseph Brezinski, mate of the Marquette ferry 18, who lost his life when the boat wrecked Friay is at the home, 601 Jay St., and the funeral will be held from St. Mary's Church tomorrow morning. The body was picked up by carferry 20 and was taken to Milwaukee and shipped here by rail. Brezinski was struck by the wreckage of the boat, his body being bruised and injured. Mrs. Brezinski is prostrated by the shock of her husband's terrible fate and friends are anxious over her condition. Though there is little chance that the true cause of the wreck will be known, government officiates are conducting an investigation into the wreck at Milwaukee and will go to Ludington it is said. One result of the wreck may be steps by the government to compel all boats of carferry type to close the stern of the boats. A reminder of the wreck was brought into port Sunday by the tug, Ruby of Muskegon which in crossing the lake Saturday picked up a cabin door from the 18, possibly the door which saved the life of Seymour Cochrane, son of Capt. Cochrane of the Goodrich Line, who wrenched the door from its hinges and floated up on it in the lake until rescued by the No. 17. The door is of heavy oak and was taken from the smoking room of the 18. One of the hinges had been removed but the other is still on the door, badly bent showing that the door had been torn away with much force. J. F. Herzog will have the door on exhibition in the store of the Smith Piano Co. store Tuesday. Simon Burke, a wheelsman of the 18, who was the last man to leave the sinking craft, tells a thrilling story of his experiences. Burke has been in five wrecks but says this was the worst. Burke remained at his post until the 18 foundered and was dragged down into the lake, 100 feet he says. From his statement it is apparent that the danger of the boat was known as early as 4:30 when the captain gave the orders to head in for shore. At 6 the cars were heaved overboard but helped little. When the 18 sank, Burke says he was thrown back from the wheel and in a second was engulfed by a torrent of water and was drawn down a hundred feet. The wheel house was demolished and ?? of wreckage to which he clung until through the broken walls and when he shot to the surface grasped a piece of wreckage to which he clung until rescued. THEODORA BREZINSKY BABE CHOKES TO DEATH ON BITS OF APPLE 3 Year Old Child Dies Before Medical Aid Possible Twice within a year has the tragic hand of fate cast its shadow over the home of Mrs. Theodore Brezinski, So. Sixth Street, this city, the latest in the home occurring last night when the idolized three year old daughter, little Theodora, met a tragic death almost without warning. The child's death was caused by suffocation, due to choking before medical aid could be summoned the bade was dead. The child's death was caused by several small bits of apple which she had been given while playing about the room. Mrs. Brezinski was peeling apples while the child, with others, were playing about the house and several times, the little one had gone to her mother for a bit of the fruit and had been given the pieces of peeled apples. It is presumed that she had retained several of the pieces in her mouth and in an attempt to swallow them, chocked. Mrs.Brezinski, noting the child's distress, hastened to her assistance and succeeded in dislodging one bit of apple and then carried the child upstairs where her mother resides and the two worked over the child, while neighbors hastened to summon a physician. Though another small piece of apple was taken from the child's mouth, it was impossible to relieve her and before the arrival of a physician, the babe was dead. The babe was the idol of the house and a great favorite in the neighborhood and the tragic death of the little one has cast a pall over many homes where she was known and beloved and sincerest sympathy goes out to the bereaved mother, who only a year ago was called upon to mourn the death of her husband, Theodore Brezinski, who met death with the ill fated Pere Marquette No. 18, when the boat sank in midlake. Mr. Brezinski was employed as a mate on the 18 and was one of the score or more to lose their lives.
