LESLIE C. ALBRECHT Albrecht Mr. Leslie C. Albrecht, 66, of 1336 S. 17th St., Manitowoc, died Friday evening, April 6, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Rev. Arno J. Wolfgramm will officiate with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military graveside services will be accorded by VFW Otto Oas Post No. 659. Mr. Albrecht was born Jan. 11, 1918, at Waukesha, Wis., son of the late Arthur and Mathilda Nickels Albrecht. Mr. Albrecht was a veteran of World War II, serving for 4-1/2 years with the United States Army, and had been stationed in the European Theater. He married the former Lorraine Jagodinsky on Oct.26, 1946, at Manitowoc. Mr. Albrecht was employed by Mirro Aluminum Co. for 47 years, retiring in March, 1983. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; two daughters and sons-in-law, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, a sister-in-law, a brother-in-law, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Arnold and a sister, Florence Krumel. GEORGE ALTMANN SR. George M. Altmann Sr., 70, of 903 Dewey St., Manitowoc died Thursday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where he was a patient one year. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. James De Witt will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Altmann was born April 5, 1899, at Manitowoc, son of the late Michael and Odelia Altmann. Before retiring five years ago he was employed 15 years as a chief engineer at Manitowoc County Hospital. He married Hilda A. Hammelmann Oct. 31, 1922 at Sheboygan. Survivors include a wife, a son, a daughter, and four grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. ELMER C. ANSORGE Elmer C. Ansorge Sr., 67, of 1413 S. 21st St., Manitowoc, died Thursday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Thaddeus J. Koszarek will officiate with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Ansorge was born Nov. 7, 1907, in the Town of Newton, son of the late Ernest and meta Schmidt Ansorge. He married Sophie E. Revolinsky Aug. 6, 1930, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He was employed for 36 years at Manitowoc Engineering Co., retiring at the end of 1972. He was a 50 year member of Eagles Aerie 706 of Manitowoc. Survivors include his wife, a son, a daughter, three brothers, a sister, and three grandchildren. MATILDA (TILLIE) G. ARMBRUSTER

Matilda (Tillie) G. Armbruster, age 88, a resident of Garfield Gardens, Manitowoc, died Tuesday morning, December 12, 2000, at her residence. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2000, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Roman Zbieranski O.F.M., with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. She was born November 4, 1912, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Wencel and Mary Nitka Ziarnik. She was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1930. Tillie was employed as a secretary for Holmes Oil Co. retiring in 1992 at the age of 80. Tillie was also the manager of Garfield Gardens from 1979 to present. She volunteered for many organiza- tions which include the following, Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Care Call, Manitowoc Visitor’s Information Center, Manitowoc-Two Rivers Chamber of Commerce, the Capitol Civic Center and also volunteered as a greeter for the Badger Car Ferry. Survivors include a son; a sister-in-law; a nephew; two nieces, along with other nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Michael and Chester Ziarnik, and a daughter- in-law, Gail Armbruster. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc, from 9 a.m. Saturday, until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will be no Friday evening visitation. Aulik, age 78, a Manitowoc resident, died Monday afternoon, September 29, 1997, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 1997, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Gerald Foley with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. He was born May 16, 1919, in the town of Gibson, son of the late John and Julia Fictum Aulik. Clarence attended local schools. On November 14, 1943, he married the former Caroline Stahl at Holy Name Catholic Church, Sheboygan. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1993. Clarence was employed as a model maker for Hamilton Manufacturing Company for 20 years retiring in 1981. Survivors include his wife, two daughters and sons-in-law, two sons and a daughter-in-law, two brothers and sisters-in-law, a sister, and two brothers-in-law. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, and 13 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Clara) Pollen, Mrs. Ray (Bernice) Hackbarth; and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Gerald (Nancy) Aulik. Friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 5-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A prayer service will be held Friday evening at 7 p.m. by Deacon Paul Meffer. Clarence was proud of his family, the home he built, and the three patents he received during his years of employment.

ROY AUMANN From Der Nord Westen, 23 May 1907: Diphtheria caused the death Monday morning of Roy Aumann, the 6-1/2 year old son of Mr. Gust. Aumann. The burial was held Tuesday night.

DELORES BARBEAU Delores Barbeau, age 76, of 1404 S. 35th St., Manitowoc, died Saturday, June 21, 2003 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Robert Drobka. Cremation will follow with burial of the cremated remains to take place at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc, at a later date. Delores was born Sept. 10, 1926, daughter of the late Stanley and Frances Pozorski Lusnia. On Jan. 29, 1949, she married Sylvester J. Barbeau in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1999. Delores was employed at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, for many years until her retirement and then continued to volunteer her time at the hospital. She was an avid gardener and loved to crochet. HAROLD J. BARBEAU Harold J. Barbeau, age 90, entered into eternal life on Sunday, July 10, 2005 surrounded by his loving family at his residence at Kindred Hearts. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. July 13, 2005 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Center with the Rev. Dan Felton officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Harold was born on Jan. 17, 1915 in Rio Creek, to the late Charles and Mary Witcpalek Barbeau. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1933. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. After being honorably discharged, Harold returned to the Manitowoc area and was employed at the A & P Tea Company for 34 years until he retired in 1978. On June 9, 1945, he married Eleanor Lewandowski at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2001. Harold was an active member of the Knights of Columbus serving several positions including the Grand Knight of Council 710 and also Faithful Navigator of Thomas J. Danchy Assembly 1212 4th Degree. He also enjoyed bowling, golf and dartball and participated in many leagues over the years. GENE M. BARBIER Gene M. Barbier, age 86, of 2911 S. 15 St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Friday April 11, 2003 at his residence. Private family funeral services ere held Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at the Jens Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The Rev. Camillus Janas O.F.M. officiated with burial of his cremated remains at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Gene was born July 15, 1916 in Manitowoc, son of the late Otto and Emilda Fournier Barbier. He grew up and was educated at Clarks Mills. On Feb. 18, 1939 he was married to the former Dorothy C. Parworth at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Gene owned and operated Gene Barbier Heating for 20 years retiring in 1977. He loved his family and music. JOHN BARRY From Der Nord Westen, 16 July 1908: John Barry, an employee of the Goodrich Transit Co., died Sunday in Holy Family Hospital. Barry had undergone an operation recently but had resumed his work on the steamship "Georgia". His condition got worse so that when the steamer reached here Sunday he was taken back to the hospital where he soon died. Barry is survived by his parents and 2 sisters. The funeral was held yesterday morning.

MARIA THERESIA BAUER From Der Nord Westen, 16 Jan. 1890 82 yr. old Mrs. Bauer, who lived in the residence of Peter Schreihart, went to bed Fri. evening completely healthy. On Sat. morning the other residents got no response from her, broke the door down, and found her dead in her bed. Dr. Luhmann was called and as best as could be determined, she was overcome by the coal gas in the stove. Mrs. Maria Theresia Bauer, mother-in-law of Mr. Joseph L. Mueller of Manitowoc, was born Oct. 1808. She came to Manitowoc Co. in the summer of 1847 and has lived here ever since. The burial took place Tues. morning.

JOHN BECKER John H. Becker, 90, who lived with his son-in-law and daughter, died Monday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at St Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Very Rev. Msgr. Schneider will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Becker was born Nov. 3,1878 at Manitowoc, son of the late Frank and Katherine Remien Becker. He married Odellia Mueller Sep 8, 1909 at St. Joseph Catholic Church Alverno, and she died Sep 23, 1963. Mr. Becker worked as a crane operator at the C. Reiss Coal Co., Manitowoc for many years. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Holy Name Society. Survivors include two sons, two daughters, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was also preceded by a daughter and four brothers and two sisters. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday where at 7:30 p.m. wake services will be conducted. RT. REV. MSGR. JOSEPH A. BECKER Rt. Rev. Msgr. Joseph A. Becker 85, a native of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, died Tuesday morning, October 15, at St. Mary Home, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 11 a m. Monday, October 21, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Principal Con celebrants of the Mass of Christian Burial will Most Rev. Adam J. Maida. Bishop of Green Bay Diocese and the Most Rev. Aloysius J. Wycislo, retired Bishop of Green Bay Diocese. The homily will be offered Rev. William J. Rickert. Burial will be Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. The reception of the body at the Church, will 4 p.m. Sunday, by very Rev. Leo J. Schmidt. A Episcopal Vicar of the Green Bay Diocese. The body will lie state at St. Boniface Catholic Church from 4 to 9 p. m. on Sunday and 9 a.m. Monday, until the time or services. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday at the church. Msgr. was born August 24, 1899, in Manitowoc, son of the late Joseph and Louise Pankratz Becker. After attending local Manitowoc schools he began his studies for the Priesthood at St. Lawrence Seminary, Mt. Calvary, continuing St. Bonaventure's Seminary of Detroit, Michigan; St. Paul Seminary of St Paul of Minnesota, and with Rev. E. A. Radey was a member of the 1927 five member graduating class of the St. Francis Seminary, Milwaukee. He was ordained by Bishop Paul P. Rhode on May 4, 1927 at the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Green Bay and celebrated his first mass at his home parish of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. His next assignment was made June 26, 1929 when he was transferred to St. Mary Catholic Church of Menasha where he was named principal of the High School on October 1, 1930, becoming Pastor of that November 5, 1950, succeeding the Rt. Rev. John Hummel. He was elevated to the title of Rt. Rev. on May 19, 1962 and also served as Dean of Winnebago County. Msgr. Becker served St. Mary Parish for over 40 years and retired in 1969. He then spent his first two years of retirement at St. Mary rectory, Menasha and then his next six years at Sacred Heart Seminary, Onieda, and then moved to St. Mary Home Manitowoc in September of 1976. Msgr. Becker had traveled extensively during his priesthood, having visited Rome on five occasions, where he received a Papal audience each time. He enjoyed his hobby of photography having accumulated over 4000 slides of photographs taken on his trips through out the world. Survivors include a sister, a nephew, Gregory E. Pauly of New Holstein, Wisconsin and four nieces. He was preceded in death by a half sister Marie Fullmer. Pfeffer Funeral Home of Manitowoc is in charge of arrangements. LUCILLE M. BECKER Lucille M. Becker, age 88, a resident of the Manitowoc Health Care Center, died Friday morning, Oct. 27, 2006, at the center. She was born Nov. 27, 1917, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Charles and Stella (Kadow) Jagodinsky. Lucille attended Lincoln High School, Manitowoc. On April 30, 1935, she married Joseph E. Becker at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on March 6, 1996. Lucille did clerical work at Mirro Aluminum Company for 30 years until her retirement in 1980. She loved to play cards, crochet, and was an excellent sewer and a wonderful baker. (Survivors omitted for privacy) She was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Tom Gulseth; two brothers: Edward and Gregory Jagodinsky; a brother-in-law: Joseph Rehrauer; and many other relatives. A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc. Officiating at the memorial Mass will be the Rev. GEORGE BERGERON From Der Nord Westen, 12 Dec. 1901: Death of George Bergeson(sic) on Fri., in a hospital in Sault St. Marie, following his being wounded which we reported in last week's paper. He was 24-yrs. old. His body was brought here and buried Mon.

ANDREAS BERTLER From Der Nord Westen, 11 Apr. 1895: Death on Tues. of Mr. Andreas Bertler, a well-known resident of our city, as a result of a stroke suffered on Sun. He was born 10 Sept. 1820 in the Kingdom of Württemberg. He leaves his widow and 3 grown children. The funeral will take place tomorrow, Fri., at 10:30 a.m. at the local Catholic Cemetery.

ELIZABETH BERTLER From Der Nord Westen, 23 May 1907: Death Monday of 88-year old Mrs. Andrew Bertler of old age debility in the residence of her daughter here, Mrs. Albert Handl. The lady had been ill ever since the accidental death of her son, Stephen Bertler, about 6 weeks ago. She is survived by 2 daughters. The funeral will be held this morning from St. Boniface Church.

HELENA BERTLER From Der Nord Westen, 24 Dec. 1891: Death on Mon. of Mrs. Helene Bertler, wife of the well-known brickworks manager, Stephan Bertler. The deceased passed away from inflammation of the lower abdomen, but had suffered for some time with neuritis, of which her husband is still suffering as well as one child. Mrs. Bertler was 40 yrs. of age and was born in Town Meeme, the daughter of the late farmer Gittinger. She leaves her husband and 4 children. The burial took place Wed. morning at the local Catholic cemetery.

STEPHEN BERTLER From Der Nord Westen, 04 Apr. 1907: Steven Bertler, well-known brick maker, on Monday morning had the misfortune of falling 30-feet from his brick oven, suffering wounds to his head and face. The doctors fear that some of his injuries are internal, and they are as yet undetermined… His condition is critical. ************* From Der Nord Westen, 18 Apr. 1907: Stephan Bertler, who we recently reported having fallen Easter Monday from a brick kiln in his brickyard, died Thursday last week from the injuries suffered in that fall. The injured man had somewhat improved and it was hoped that he would recover, so his death was unexpected. Stephan Bertler was born 53 years ago in Milwaukee but moved here a long time ago and for the past 25 years operated the brickyard which his father had established. He leaves a widow and 6 children. The funeral was held Monday morning from St. Boniface Church.

JOSEPH BIERLE From Der Nord Westen, 26 Jan. 1899: Death on Sun. of Jos. Beierly(sic) of consumption. The 37-yr. old man leaves a widow and 5 children. His funeral was held Wed. at the Catholic Cemetery.

CATHERINA BILL From Der Nord Westen, 03 Dec. 1903: Death here Sun. morning, from pneumonia, of 81-yr. old Catharine Bill in the residence of her brother-in-law Theodor Meyer. The deceased was unmarried. The funeral was held Tues. morning from St. Boniface Church.

ADAM BLESER From Der Nord Westen, 19 Sept. 1895: Death early Tues. morning of Adam Bleser, another of our old settlers who are being called away one after another. Mr. Bleser died of heart trouble which has afflicted him severely the last few weeks. He was born 26 June 1821 in Hof Birnbaum, Municipality Wissen, Kreis Altenkirchen, Bezirk Coblenz. In 1846 he came to America and settled first in Milwaukee, but a short while later moved to Manitowoc. At that time Manitowoc was still a wilderness where what is now the 8th Street bridge, he built his first house on its south bank, and a nearby log served as a bridge. Mr. Bleser started a store in Manitowoc Rapids and quickly became known throughout the growing county, so that after only a few years he was elected County Treasurer. He later moved to Manitowoc City and operated a retail business here until retiring a few years ago. Mr. Bleser was married in 1850 to Elisabeth Pauli, who survives him. From that marriage came 3 sons and 4 daughters, who also survive. About a year ago Mr. Bleser suffered a stroke out of which the above reported heart problem arose. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at the Catholic Church.

JOHN BOLEN From Der Nord Westen, 04 Dec. 1902: Death yesterday morning of John Bolen following a long illness. The deceased, who was born in Ireland 17 Mar. 1840, was a long- time resident of our county, which he twice served as sheriff. He is survived by his widow but no children. His funeral will be held tomorrow morning from St. Boniface Church.

JOHANNA BONIN From Der Nord Westen, 17 Dec. 1896: Death on Sun., here in Manitowoc, of 78 yr. old Mrs. Johanna Bonin, wife of Johann Bonin, following a 7-mo. illness. The deceased was born in the Province of Posen and came to America with her husband in 1866 and the pair settled in Manitowoc. Five years ago the couple celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. Mrs. Bonin is survived by her 80 yr. old husband and 8 grown children, as well as 37 grand- children. Burial took place Tues. morning at the Catholic Cemetery.

JOHN BONIN From Der Nord Westen, 28 Aug. 1902: 86-yr. old John Bonin, an old resident of our city, died Sat. of old age debility. The deceased came to Manitowoc from Germany in 1865 and has lived here ever since. The funeral was held Tues. from the Holy Hearts Catholic Church.

FRANK BOURIL From Der Nord Westen, 16 Nov. 1905: Frank Bouril has been missing since 05 Nov. and his family has asked the police to search the river near the water tower. It was there that he was last seen, and his family fears he may have fallen into the river. ************ From Der Nord Westen, 05 Apr. 1906: Our readers will remember that last Oct. 5th Frank Bouril disappeared without a trace. One knew that he had left his house, but then his trail was lost. It was feared that he had met with some misfortune or had drowned in the river. On Monday afternoon Joseph Mally and Peter Bies, two workers in the lime plant, while erecting a timber work against the ice at the nearby railroad bridge, saw a body and notified the police. Because of the long time in the water the identity could not be established. There were no wounds on the body and whether the individual died accidentally or was murdered, must be established by the coroner's inquest. The coroner's jury absolutely established that Bouril had left his home to pay a debt of $10 he owed to Ed. Mohr for some brickwork, and it was established that the dead man had two five-dollar bills in his pocket along with a $1.50 loose change. The jury rendered a verdict that Bouril had met an accidental death.

BRACHMANN CHILD From Der Nord Westen, 21 Sept. 1893: Death on Mon. evening of the 15-mo. old son of South Main Street resident John Brachmann. The little body was buried yesterday morning in the Catholic Cemetery.

WILBUR C. BRANDT Wilbur C. Brandt, 75, a former Manitowoc resident, died Thursday, March 25, at Mount Carmel Nursing Home, Milwaukee. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Arthur H. Wille will officiate with cremation to follow and burial will be Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Brandt was born Oct. 31, 1906, at Manitowoc, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Brandt. He was educated at Manitowoc. He married Julia A. Panosh June 15, 1931, at Waukegan, Ill. Mr. Brandt was employed by Brandt Printing and Bindery Company and Manitowoc Shipbuilding until 1944, when the couple moved to Milwaukee. Mrs. Brandt preceded him in death April 18, 1971. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10:00 a.m. at St Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Mr. Buchner was born Dec. 1, 1879, in the village of Krotiv, Czechoslovakia, son of the late Joseph and Margaret Buchner. He came to the United States at the age of 20 and settled at Manitowoc. He became a citizen in 1906. He married the former Anna Lemberger Oct. 3rd, 1905, at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Whitelaw. His wife preceded him in death Jan. 19th, 1958. He was the oldest member of the fraternal order of Eagles in Wisconsin and had been affiliated with the local aerie, No. 706 for 50 years. He was also a member of the Catholic order of Foresters for nearly 60 years, a member of St. Boniface Holy Name Society and Manitowoc Marine Band. He worked as a cabinet maker at American Seating Co., Two Rivers, Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., and Burger Boat Co. Inc., retiring in 1951. Survivors are three sons, six daughters, a brother, Henry and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Fischer, of Manitowoc, 33 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. Three children preceded him in death. EMMA BUEHLER From Der Nord Westen, 23 Feb. 1899: Yesterday morning between 10 and 11 o’clock Emma Buehler, daughter of Joseph Buehler here, hanged herself. She had been suffering with the grippe for a long while. She had been busy that whole morning with the wash and about 10 o’clock went to the barn, according to her mother, to feed the cow. When she didn’t come back her mother went into the building and found her daughter hanging from the rafters. She was cut down and because there were signs of life the doctor was called. By the time Doctors Thurtell and Meany could reach the place, she had expired.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo J. Schmitt will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Cabalek was born Sept. 24, 1888, at Peoria, Ill., son of the late Frank and Mary Bozdech Cabalek. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I. He married Marian Nemetz Sept. 24, 1924, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. They made their permanent residency at Manitowoc since 1925. Mr. Cabalek had been employed as a car salesman for Bouril and Ames auto companies retiring eight years ago. He was a member of the American Legion Drew Bleser Post No. 88 and the Knights of Columbus Council 710. Survivors include his wife, two daughters, a brother, Anthony, of Villa Grove, Ill; two sisters, Mrs. William Kallal of Edmonton, Canada, and Mrs. J.F. Kunesh of Seattle, Wash., and four grandchildren. Four brothers and a grandchild preceded him in death. Athalene M. Cavanaugh, age 74, of Manitowoc, died Thursday afternoon, January 18, 2001, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. She was born May 26, 1926, in Two Rivers, daughter of Savannah Payette Hetue and the late Mose Hetue. On July 1, 1950, she married William Cavanaugh at St. Lukes Catholic Church, Two Rivers. He preceded her in death November 25, 1989. Athalene was born and raised in Two Rivers and moved to Manitowoc following her marriage. She was employed at Paragon Electric Company and also at Northern Labs. Athalene spent the last five years helping with the care of her mother and brother at Hamilton Memorial Home in Two Rivers. Survivors include her mother, Savannah Hetue, two brothers and a sister-in-law, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Also surviving are 13 god children, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Hetue. Mrs. Chermak, nee Anna Mae Knox, was born April 22, 1921, at Osman, and was married to Mr Chermak on Jan. 26, 1946. She graduated from the Lincoln high school in Manitowoc in 1938. Survivors are her parents; her husband; a son; three brothers; and a sister. She was a member of the Nurses Aid during the war and a member of the Daughters of Isabella, and members of the latter society will recite the Rosary at the Pfeffer Funeral home at 7:30 p. m. MARY CHLOUPEK From Der Nord Westen, 25 Nov. 1909: A heart attack Saturday evening has taken the life of Mrs. Joseph Chloupek, the mother of our County Judge John Chloupek. The deceased, who was born 10 March 1838 in Castle Gregory, Ireland, as a small child came with her parents to Canada, then to Manitowoc in 1848 where they settled in Town Kossuth at a time when there were more Indians there than white men. When she was 16 she married Joseph Chloupek, her now surviving husband. About 14 years ago Mr. Chloupek sold his property in Town Kossuth and moved to Manitowoc and has lived here ever since. In addition to her husband she is survived by 4 sons and 2 daughters, as well as 4 sisters and a brother. The funeral was conducted Tuesday morning from Sacred Heart Church.

On October 23, 1943 she married Joseph H. Christel in Appleton. He preceded her in death on June 21, 1959. Augusta was employed in retail sales in the fabric department at Schuette Brothers Dept. Store, Manitowoc for 18 years and then at Marshall Fields in Milwaukee until her retirement, then returning to Manitowoc. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church Rosary and Alter(sic) Society and Choir. Survivors include a sister, a sister-in-law, a brother-in-law, and nieces, nephews and relatives and friends. Augusta was also preceded in death by two sisters; Antonia Kuechmann and Marie Radey; and three brothers Florent Isselman, Joseph Isselmann and Matthew (Duke) Isselmann. ANTHONY CLARK From the Manitowoc Herald Times. Feb. 24, 1941 Anthony Clark Dies Sunday at Home Here Former County Official was ill only two weeks; Funeral on Tuesday. Anthony J. Clark, 77, realtor and insurance agent here for years and prominent in Catholic fraternal organizations, died early Sunday at the home, 1312 Hamilton Street. Mr. Clark, former county offical and lifelong resident of the county, had been ill two weeks. He was stricken with a severe cold while on a trip downtown and pneumonia developed. Funeral Tuesday Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. from the Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 9 o'clock from the St. Boniface Catholic Church, the Rev. J.H. Schmitt officiating. Interment will be in Calvary cemetery. Mr. Clark was born in Liberty April 20, 1863, the son of Anthony and Bridget Clark. He attended district schools of the township and when a young man, learned the cheesemaker's trade. He attended the agricultural school at the state university in Madison, studying cheese and butter making. He embarked in that business in 1886 and continued in it for 11 years. In 1893 he was appointed state cheese and butter instructor. In 1886 he married Miss Anges C. Peppard at Osman. Mr. and Mrs. Clark moved to this city in 1890 and Mr. Clark became identified with the Schuette Bros. department store. He took an active interest in the Democratic party and in the fall of 1908 was the party's candidate for Clerk of Circuit Court. He was elected and served 6 years until January 1915. During that period, Mr. Clark inaugurated a school for men and women who wished to take out their citizenship papers. In his terms of office, nearly 1,600 men and 48 women were granted citizenship. Following his retirement from public office, Mr. Clark opened a grocery store which he operated three years and after disposing of this business entered the real estate and insurance field in this city. He remained active in this field until stricken ill. Active in Politics. Even after retirement from office, Mr. Clark remained active in party politics. He served for many years on the precinct election boards of his ward. Ever since they came to this city, Mr. and Mrs Clark have been members of the St. Boniface congregation. He served as secretary, treasurer and trustee of the congregation at various times. His affiliations included several Catholic societies. he was secretary of the Catholic Knights at his death and a life honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and St. Boniface Holy Name Society. Mr. Clark in the years he was active as a realtor and insurance man, was a member of the Manitowoc Real Estate Board and the Manitowoc Insurance Board. In October, 1936, Mr. and Mrs Clark observed their golden wedding anniversary with a gathering of their children, relatives and friends. They repeated their nuptial vows at a ceremony at the St. Boniface Church. Survivors are the widow; daughter, Miss Mary A, Clark, of this city; four sons, Edwin T. Clark and Attorney Walter H, Clark of this city, Dr. Finton H. Clark of Sheboygan, John A. Clark, Milwaukee, Milwaukee school principal; a brother, M.W. Clark of St. Paul, Minn; two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence O'Grady of Meeme, Miss Catherine A. Clark, a nurse at Milwaukee; two grandaughters, Marguerite Mary Clark of Milwaukee, Patricia Ann Clark of Sheboygan. There are also a number of nieces and nephews. The body may be viewed at the Pfeffer funeral home. ROBERT (JERRY) CONNOR Robert (Jerry) Connor, age 71, of Manitowoc, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 26, 2003, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Camillus Janas O.F.M., with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. He was born Jan. 28, 1932, in Wausau, son of the late John and Laura Osterbrink Connor. Bob was a member of the United States National Guard for seven years. On May 22, 1954, he married the former Judith Blank in Sturgeon Bay. Bob was employed as an electrician with Craft Electric in Manitowoc, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the 158th Union of Green Bay, Eagles Aerie #706, Knights of Columbus, Mens Club of St. Boniface Catholic Church and was a volunteer driver for Red Cross. Bob enjoyed golfing, playing sheepshead, dartball and calling bingo at St. Boniface. HENRIETTA COUTLEY HAD MADE HER HOME HERE FOR 70 YEARS. Mrs. Henrietta Coutley, who for more than 70 years has made this county her home, and who was among the first who settled in what is now Milwaukee, passed away early this morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Peter Bauer, at Manitowoc Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 10 Saturday morning, from the St. Paul's Catholic Church, the Rev. Father Jaeckels officiating, and interment will be made at Calvary. Was Born in Milwaukee Born in Milwaukee, July 13, 1843, Mrs. Coutley, nee Lehmann, came to this county at the age of 11, and has lived here since, death claiming her today at the age of 84. Mr. Coutley passed away 10 years ago, leaving four daughters, Mrs. Peter Mittnacht of this city, Mrs. Peter Bauer and Mrs. Nic Bauer of Rapids, and Mrs. Nic Klemen of Branch, to mourn the passing. Fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren also survive. The deceased has been an invalid for the last two years, and death was caused by a stroke, Little hope was held for her recovery during the last week, and the end came today as a blessing of relief.

HENRY COUTLEY Manitowoc Daily Herald Sat. July 14, 1917 sent in by family researcher/see contributors page HENRY COUTLEY, PIONEER OF CO. AND ONE OF OLDEST RESIDENTS, DIES AT HOME IN RAPIDS, AGED 90 Henry Coutley, one of the early pioneers of Manitowoc county and at his death one of the oldest residents of the county, died at his home at Rapids last evening at the advanced age of 90 years. Death was due to infirmities of age. A resident of the county for 66 years, Mr. Coutley who came here in 1851, had witnessed the development of Manitowoc from a wilderness to a section of well cultivated farms and builded cities and villages. He was a resident of Rapids when that village was the county seat of Manitowoc County and assisted in the work of relocating the county seat in this city. Mr. Coutley was a native of Canada, born at Cedar, upper Canada, Nov. 14, 1827. He came to Wisconsin in 1851 and on July 14 that year settled at Neshota where he engaged in the lumbering business, working in a saw mill. In the winter he worked at logging and the summer farmed. Later he gave his entire attention to farming. Mr. Coutley was married Aug. 25, 1860 to Henrietta Lehmann, who survives him. Besides his widow Mr. Coutley is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Peter Mittnacht, this city; Mrs. Nicholas Bauer, and Mrs. Peter Bauer, of Rapids, Mrs. Nicholas Klemen of Branch. One sister, Mrs. Ana Boujie, of Canada also survives. There are eighteen grandchildren. The funeral of Mr. Coutley will be held from St. Boniface church Tuesday morning at 9 with interment at Calvary.

JOSEPH J. DECKER Joseph J. Decker, 48, the owner and operator of the Medicine Chest Pharmacy in Kiel, died Saturday evening after being stricken with an apparent heart attack at his home, 108 Park Ave., Kiel. Mr. Decker was born Oct. 3, 1930, in Manitowoc, a son of Joseph and Irma Reindl Decker of Sheboygan. He attended St. Boniface School and graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. He attended St. Norbert College and graduated from the School of Pharmacy at the University of Wisconsin. Prior to purchasing the pharmacy at Kiel, Mr. Decker was employed at pharmacies in Racine, Wauwautosa and Waukesha. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel, the Kiel Lions and Kiwanis Clubs and the Kiel Area Chamber of Commerce. Survivors are his parents of Sheboygan and one sister, Miss Patricia Decker of Sheboygan. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, the Rev. Francis Kerscher, pastor, officiating. The Mass will be preceded by family rites at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Manitowoc. BERNARD DELSMAN From Der Nord Westen, 26 Apr. 1894: Another old settler has left us. Mr. Bernhard Dellsmann died on Tues. morning following a 1-yr. illness. Mr. Dellsmann was born 27 Nov. 1822 in Ascheberg, Westphalia and so was 72 yrs. old at the time of his death. He came to America in 1847 directly to Manitowoc County where he worked in several positions until 1851 when he bought a farm. A few months later he married Bernhardine Eimes. The happy marriage produced 11 children of whom 6 are still living, one of them in Nebraska. About 6 yrs. ago Mr. Dellsmann retired to Manitowoc. (The article goes into detail about the onset of his illness, an operation in Chicago, and the state of his health up to his death.) He was a member and supporter of the Manitowoc Rapids Farmers’ Fire Insurance Association, which did much good for the farming community. His brother, Mr. Theodor Dellsmann, is also a farmer, residing in Town Kossuth. The funeral will take place at 9 a.m. tomorrow at the Catholic Church.

EDWARD DIETL From Der Nord Westen, 13 Aug. 1903: Eduard Diedl, a well-known resident of our city, died of a stroke Wed. morning. Mr. Diedl had suffered a stroke several months ago from which he recovered, but suffered another yesterday morning as he returned from a shopping trip to the meat market. Mr. Diedl was born 14 July 1842 in Leobschütz, Austria, and soon came to America in 1849. He occupied a farm in Neshoto for a long time but moved to Manitowoc several years ago. He is survived by his widow and 2 children, namely, a son Frank who resides in Milwaukee, and a daughter here, Mrs. Mary Herzog. The funeral will probably be held Sat. afternoon, but the specific details have not yet been announced.

The deceased was born 21 Oct. 1820 on red earth, and came to America in 1850 to settle on a farm in Town Kossuth. He had to deal with all of the difficulties of pioneer life that early settlers faced, and he often told your editors interesting stories about his early life in the Manitowoc County wilderness…. THOMAS DONAHUE Manitowoc Pilot on Thursday, January 20, 1898: Thomas Donohue of this city died on Friday last aged 81. He was born in Ireland but came to this country when young and enlisted in the army taking part in the Mexican War. When discharged at the close of the war he came west. He stepped aboard the same boat in Buffalo on which Henry Mulholland and family were coming west to enter upon a pioneer life. Donohue had a soldier's land warrant and he accompanied Mulholland to Meeme and entered 80 acres of land in Liberty. This was in 1850. He disposed of his farm a few years ago and has since resided in the city. He was a man of sturdy character, honest and independent. (Although the obituary does not mention survivors, it appears that the surviving children of Thomas Donahue included the following: Mrs. John (Bridget) Shimunok of Milwaukee county; Mrs. James (Sarah) Hall, Mrs. James (Mary Ellen) McGinnis and Mrs. Hugh (Catherine) McGinnis, all of Florence, Snohomish County, Washington; and Mrs. William (Margaret) Sherer, James Donahue, and Alice Donahue (later Mrs. Robert Puls), all of Manitowoc.) JOHN W. DOOLAN From Der Nord Westen, 11 Oct. 1906: J.W. Doolan, a well-known resident of our city where he has lived since 1866, died Friday after several months of illness from a combination of lung and heart disease. The deceased was born 65 years ago in Ireland and came to America as a 2-year old child. His parents settled in Kossuth and the deceased lived there ever since. He served with the 21st Wisconsin Regiment during the Civil War and came back to Manitowoc after his discharge. He is survived by a widow, 7 children, 2 brothers and a sister. The funeral was held Monday from Sacred Heart Church. The local post of the G.A.R., to which Doolan belonged, gave their old comrade the last salute.

PATRICK DOOLAN From the Manitowoc Pilot, 7 July 1870 Suicide - A man by the name of Doolan, brother of our fellow citizen Michael Doolan, Esq., committed suicide on Sunday, by drowning himself in Chloupek's pond in the town of Kossuth. No cause is assigned for the act.

ALFRED DROST From Der Nord Westen, 26 Jan. 1905: Alfred Drost died Mon. from consumption. The deceased had been ill with the disease for about 6 mos., … but it suddenly took a turn for the worst on Sat. On Mon. they wanted to take him to the hospital where he could be better cared for, but he died even as the transport was being arranged. Alfred Drost was born 08 Apr. 1860 in Wesel, Rhineland, and in 1875 came to America with his parents. The family settled in Manitowoc and it was here the deceased has always lived. As a result of a childhood disease he had completely lost his hearing. 22 yrs. ago, together with his father Henry Drost, he established a box factory here which under his direction, grew straight upward and is still operated by H. Drost & Sons. In addition to his sorrowing father, he leaves a brother and a sister. His mother died a few years ago. The funeral will be held this morning from St. Boniface Church.

CHRISTINA DROST From Der Nord Westen, 17 July 1902: Death Tues., following a long illness, of 72-yr. old Mrs. Henry Drost in her residence at 1213 South Main St. The deceased, wife of Mr. Henry Drost, the well-known operator of the box and carton factory on 9th St., came to Manitowoc with her husband 27 yrs. ago and has lived here ever since. For many years she operated a successful cleaning shop on Jay St. and was well known and highly thought of in the city of Manitowoc and its environs. ANTHONY V. DUFEK

Anthony V. Dufek, age 83, of Manitowoc, died Tuesday evening, April 13, 2004, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Concelebrating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Ronald Reimer and the Rev. Tom Wojciechowski O.F.M. with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Graveside military rites will be accorded by VFW Otto Oas Post #659. He was born April 5, 1921, in Manitowoc, son of the late Anton and Lillian Krcma Dufek. Tony was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1939. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from July 22, 1942 to March 15, 1946. He served as a 2nd lieutenant overseas in Europe, England, France, Belgium and Germany, receiving four bronze battle stars. On Dec. 27, 1943, he married the former Elaine E. Klackner at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1993. Tony was employed at Chicago & Northwestern Railroad from 1946 to 1973. He then became mayor for the city of Manitowoc from 1973 to 1989. He was a member of the Manitowoc School Board of Education from 1986 to 2001 and was past chairman and member of the Manitowoc County Board of Supervisors from 1966 to 1973 and from 1990 to 2004, serving as chairman from 1970 to 1973. Tony was author of the weekly Lakeshore Update, which was published in The Lakeshore Chronicle beginning in 1989. He also produced a radio show called Lakeshore Comments, which aired on WCUB for 30 years. He was also a member of the Manitowoc 4th degree Knights of Columbus, Elks BPOE #687, Eagles Aerie #706, VFW Otto Oas Post #659, American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88 and the AMVETS Post #99. Survivors include his wife: Elaine Dufek, Manitowoc; three sons and two daughters-in-law: two grandchildren: and a brother and sister-in-law. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by two infant children: Mary Margaret and Daniel Anthony; and three sisters and a brother-in-law: Mary Ann and Jack Irving, Mildred Dufek and Margaret Dufek. GEORGE DUSOLD From Der Nord Westen, 14 Apr. 1904: George Dusold died Mon. noon. The death of the old gentleman occurred quite suddenly as he had been seen just a few days ago meandering about the streets of our city, but he fell ill with bronchitis on Fri. which quickly turned into pneumonia. He died on Mon. after lying unconscious with a fever for many hours. George Dusold was born 20 Jan. 1817 in Roschlaub, Bavaria. He came to America in 1845 and settled in Manitowoc Rapids, at that time our county seat. In 1846 he married Anna Wolf in Milwaukee and soon moved to Manitowoc where he has lived ever since. He established a guest house here on the south side when it was just a wilderness and contained only a half dozen residences. He also worked as a shoemaker which he had learned in Germany. He was naturalized in 1850 following his Declaration of Intent to become a citizen in 1846. His naturalization document is dated 07 Oct. 1850 and is signed by P.P. Smith, the then Court Clerk. His life partner died in 1897. There were 12 children and Mr. Dusold is survived by 9 of them, namely, Mrs. M. Pankratz here, Mrs. W. Schultz in Ozaukee County, and Mrs. P. Riederer, August, Alex, George, Lhelm, Edward and Oliver. The funeral will be held this morning from St. Boniface Church.

HELEN DUVENECK Helen M. Duveneck, age 88, formerly of 3819 Clover Rd., Manitowoc, died Wednesday evening, September 30, 1998, at St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc. She was born July 20, 1910, in Newton, daughter of the late John and Antonia Murzyn Kadow. On July 20, 1926, she married Ulrich Duveneck at St. Casimir Catholic Church, Northeim. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 20, 1976. He preceded her in death June 28, 1987. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, two daughters and sons-in-law, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, four great- great-grandchildren, and two sisters. Bob was employed as a police officer with the city of Manitowoc for 27 years, retiring with the rank of Sergeant in 1993. He was a life member of the Manitowoc Gun Club and a past member of the Ducks Unlimited. ERVIN H. ELFNER Ervin H. Elfner, 46, of Rt. 1, Manitowoc, died Saturday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. He had been ill since July 30. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Silver Lake. The Rev. Ronald Kirk O. Pream, will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Ervin Elfner was born Aug. 20, 1922, at Manitowoc, son of Edward J. Elfner Sr. and the late Julia Bellin Elfner. A lifelong resident of Manitowoc County, he graduated with the class of 1940 from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc. He married Dorothy Wimmer Feb. 12, 1944, at Manitowoc. He was a World War II veteran, serving as a technician four with the Headquarters COmpany of the 711th Tank Battalion in the Philippine and Asiatic theatres. Elfner was a sergeant with the Manitowoc County Traffic Patrol and was also an instructor for the Red Cross. The patrolman was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 706, the Wisconsin Traffic Officers Assn. and was serving as the assessor for the Town of Manitowoc Rapids at the time of his death. Besides his wife he is survived by a son, a daughter, his father and step-mother, four brothers, and a sister. Julianne was born Jan. 9, 1926, in Kiel, daughter of the late Peter and Angeline (Herr) Rollmann. She graduated from Kiel High School with the class of 1945. On May 5, 1951, Julianne married Alois G. Endries at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. She was employed at Tecumseh of New Holstein for 20 years retiring in 1988. Julianne and her husband, Alois, owned and operated Endries Trucking and Excavating. She was a member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church, St. Nazianz, and a former member of the St. Gregory's Christian Mother's Society. Elmer C. Erdmann, age 103, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, and formerly of 1401 S. Ninth St., Manitowoc, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, at Shady Lane. Elmer was born on Aug. 3, 1902, in Manitowoc, to the late Albert and Wilhelmina Boldt Erdmann. He married Agnes Kolbeck on July 3, 1923, in Manitowoc. Elmer was employed at the old Capitol Theatre from 1921 to 1932. He was the oldest living member of the original Capitol Theatre staff. When the Capitol Theatre reopened as the Capitol Civic Center, Elmer was given the honor of cutting the ribbon. Elmer was employed at the Manitowoc Public Utilities for 30 years, retiring in 1967. Survivors include four children, 21 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; also other relatives and friends surviving. Elmer was preceded in death by his wife: Agnes; his parents; a son: Richard; three sisters; two brothers; and a grandson. Aaron was also employed with the Pfeffer Funeral Home for 13 years. He was a past member of the St. Boniface Athletic Club, Catholic Knights, and the Manitowoc Senior Citizens. Aaron was one of the original founders and organizers of the Lakeport Credit Union formerly known as the St. Boniface Credit Union. He served on its Board of Directors for 19 years. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law; one son and daughter-in-law; one brother and sister-in-law; one sister, seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Elfrieda and Gerhardt Sickinger; one brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Hildegarde; and a brother-in-law Wilbur Gresl. Ronald Foerg, age 72, of Manitowoc died Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2000, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Roman Zbieranski, O.F.M., with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. He was born May 8, l928, in Manitowoc, son of the late Jacob and Mary Homer Foerg. Ronald was a graduate of Lincoln High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Ron was a member of the Manitowoc Fire Department from 1950-1974, when he retired due to ill health. On July 28, 1956, he was married to LaVerne Manlick. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was an avid golfer and bowler. Ron was also a member of the Meadow Links Golf Association. Mrs. Forst was born November 3, 1907, at Chicago, Illinois, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Gabryel Cisowski. She married Leo Forst, June 3, 1939, at Chicago, Illinois. He preceded her in death June 3, 1976. Clara T. Franz, age 92, of Manitowoc passed away Saturday morning, Jan. 6, 2007, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc. Clara was born on Sept. 26, 1914, in Whitelaw, daughter of the late John and Clara (Meidl) Schamburek. On Jan. 10, 1934, she married Joseph C. Franz at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whitelaw. The couple celebrated 72 years of marriage. Clara also was employed with Mirro Aluminum Co. for 20 years until her retirement. She was a 60 year member of the St. Mary Rosary and Altar Society and a member of the St. Clare Society. Clara was a 25-year volunteer at St. Mary’s Home and for 20 years, she counted the collection offerings on Monday mornings at the St. Mary’s Rectory. ROSE FRISCH From Der Nord Westen, 13 May 1909: Death in Raton, New Mexico, on Saturday of Mrs. Rose Frisch, wife of Henry Frisch, after a long illness. The deceased, a daughter of Wm. Hermann who died a few years ago, was born here 29 December 1875. She married Henry Frisch 10 June 1902. Two children were born to the couple, both of whom died. Mrs. Frisch fell ill several years ago and with her husband, who had a tailor shop here, traveled to the west. The change in climate did not have the desired result. The deceased’s father had paid her a visit two years ago when they were still living in Fort Collins, and Miss Lottie Wille had gone to Raton to visit them just six weeks ago. In addition to her husband she is survived by her mother, 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Her body will be brought here.

Mrs. Frisch was born in Germany 07 Apr. 1818 and came to America about 3 yrs. ago to spend the remainder of her days with her 6 children who reside here.

WILLIAM FUESSENICH From Der Nord Westen, 17 Sept. 1891: Death of Mr. W. Fuessenich on Sat. noon following a stroke he suffered last Thurs. He was born in Nov. 1802 in Strassfeld, near Bonn, and reached the age of 89 yrs. In 1848 he came to America with his family, lived for about 5 yrs. in Milwaukee and then for a substantial time in Calumet Co. before settling in Town Cato in Manitowoc Co. Some years ago he gave up his farm and moved into Manitowoc. His wife died about 10 yrs. ago. He is survived by 2 sons and 2 daughters (Mrs. Breuer and Mrs. Annon), 19 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. His funeral took place Tues. morning at the Catholic Cemetery here.
