VICTOR A. TADYCH Victor A. Tadych, age 95, of 2210 Markham St., Manitowoc, died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning, Dec. 2, 2007. He was born on May 29, 1912, in Manitowoc, son of the late Frank and Cecelia (Matczynski) Tadych. On Jan. 7, 1939, he married the former Eleanore Blaszkiewicz at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2000. Victor and his wife worked side by side at Fairview Super Market on North 21st and Rankin streets for 30 years, until his retirement in 1970, when his son Jerry took over. Victor continued to work part-time until 1995. He was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 710, and was one of the original board of directors of the Manitowoc County Bank. Victor was a member of the St. Mary's Young Men's Club, and a charter member of the Holy Innocents Men's Choir. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) He was preceded in death by four brothers: Ted, Felix, Henry and Stanley Tadych; and three sisters: Sophie Peashek; Frances Kohls; and Rose Beck. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, and at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton, with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. CAROLYN P. TATE Carolyn Persephone Tate, infant daughter of Sarah Quandt and Troy Tate of Manitowoc, died on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. ANNA TAUSCHEK From Der Nord Westen, 28 Dec. 1905: After a 2-yr. illness, Mrs. Conrad Tauschek died Fri. of consumption. She was the daughter of Mrs. Martin Meyer here and reached the age of 32. In addition to her sorrowing husband she leaves 5 children, her mother, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. The funeral was held Sun. afternoon from St. Boniface Church.


ARNOLD TAUSCHEK Arnold E. Tauschek, 75, of 728 N. Sixth St., Manitowoc, died Friday at home. Funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Donald Schneider will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Tauschek was born March 17, 1898, at Manitowoc, son of the late Conrad and Anna Maier Tauschek. He married Rose Drewek Sept. 28, 1922. She preceded him in death Sept. 20, 1956. He then married Ottilia Schuh Dougherty Oct. 8, 1960, at Evanston, Ill. Mr. Tauschek had been employed at Mirro Aluminum Company for 22 years and also by the City of Manitowoc Parks Department prior to his retirement in 1963. COLLETTA TAUSCHEK From Der Nord Westen, 01 Mar. 1906: 3-year old Colletta Tauschek died Friday morning in the home of her parents on South Main Street and was buried Sunday.


ELIZABETH TAUSCHEK MRS. TAUSCHEK DIES; FUNERAL RITE TUESDAY Was Owner of Millinery Firm Established In Germany Nearly 100 Years Ago Mrs. Conrad Tauschek, 68, head of a millinery business which was established in Germany nearly 100 years ago and conducted by four generations, died today. She had been ill since last April The Tauschek millinery store on Jay street, which was conducted for many years by the deceased was established by the family on captial of less than $2. Death of Mrs. Tauschek marks the passing of the last of the Drost family. Her brother, Max Drost, head of the Drost Box Manufacturing company, died October 22. Mrs. Tauschek was the treasurer of the company. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. from the Pfeffer funeral home and at 9 a.m. from St. Boniface Catholic church. Interment will be in Calvary cemetery. Six grandsons of the deceased will act as pallbearers. Born in Germany Mrs. Tauschek was born Dec. 24, 1866, at Weisel on the Rhine, Germany. She came to Manitowoc in 1873. In 1900 she was married to Fred Keil. He died in 1905. Five years later she was married to Conrad Tauschek. The survivors are the widower, a daughter, Mrs. Leo Maresch, city; and the following stepchildren, Charles Keil, Brighton, Colo.; Fred Keil, Detroit; August Keil, Allen, Neb.; Elmer Keil, Manitowoc Rapids; Mrs. Ben Gettleman, Milwaukee; Mrs. Matt Novack, Richard, Arnold and Carl TAuschek, all of this city. There are 26 grandchildren and one great grandchild. The millinery business was first set up in Germany in 1839 by the grandmother of the deceased, Mrs. Elizabeth Hintze, and continued in Manitowoc by the daughter and still later by the granddaughter, Mrs. Hintze, widowed by the death of her husband, was obliged to support her three children. In 1873 the family came to the United States and to Manitowoc and established a millinery shop at Ninth and Quay streets. Two Kinds In those days there were but two kinds of hats, black and white. The dark ones were worn in the winter and lighter ones in summer. The price was $2 for each hat. They were made of velvety materials, ribbons and straw. Mrs. Christina Drost, daughter of Mrs. Hintze, was taken into partnership and purchased the present location of the millinery store more than 50 years ago at 813 Jay street. When Elizabeth Drost (later Mrs. Tauschek) became 15 years of age, she entered the firm and assisted in the buying. The business expanded in the "gay nineties" and at one time 10 or more young women were learning hat-making in the Tauschek establishment. JOSEPH TEPOORTEN Joseph Tepoorten, 80, of 2804 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc, died Monday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 9 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Very Rev. Clement Kern will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Teepoorten was born May 10, 1889, at Colby, Wis., son of the late John and Susan Braun Tepoorten. He was a foreman at Mirro Aluminum Co., Manitowoc, for 52 years, retiring in 1955. Survivors include a brother, John, and a sister, Miss Susan, of Manitowoc and nieces and nephews. JENNIE THEISEN Mrs. Jennie F. Theisen, 76, who resided with a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Walter, of 1838 Clermont St., Manitowoc, died Sunday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Richard Verhasselt will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Theisen, nee Jennie F. Wera, was born Aug. 18, 1898, at Chicago, daughter of the late John and Lucille Napientek Wera. She was married to William J. Theisen Nov. 4, 1919, at Hatley, Wis. He preceded her in death Dec. 28, 1958. She had been employed at Schuette Bros. Co., of Manitowoc until her retirement in 1963. She was a member of Manitowoc Senior Citizens and Christian Mothers Altar Society of Holy Innocents Parish. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Adeline) Walter, of Manitowoc and Mrs. James (Phyllis) Rapponotte, of Barstow, Calif., two brothers, Joseph, of Hatley and John, of Stevens Point; three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Platta, of Stevens Point and Mrs. John Dominski and Mrs. John Gorski, of Wausau; six grandchildren and a great grandson. JOHN THEYERL John Theyerl, 50, of 921 South 15th Street, died Saturday evening at the Holy Family hospital. Funeral services will be held Tuesday from the Pfeffer funeral home and from the St. Boniface church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Mr. Theyerl was born in St. Anne, Calumet County, in 1890 and came to Manitowoc 21 years ago. He was employed for years at the Richter company. ROSE THEYERL Mrs. Rose A. Theyerl, 76, of Shady Lane Home, Manitowoc, died Thursday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Mrs. Theyerl, nee Rose A. Rott, was born Sept. 26, 1893, at Jericho, Wis., daughter of the late Anton and Anna Wettstein Rott. She was married to Mathew Theyerl at Chilton in 1914 and he died in 1963. She had been employed for 23 years by Mirro Aluminum co., and was a member of the Christian Mothers and Senior Citizens. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Rudolph (Pearl) Stockinger Jr., and Mrs. John (Alice) Pekarske of Manitowoc; a brother, Vernon, of Francis Creek; a sister, Mrs. Joseph Hoffman, of Charlesburg; 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. WALTER P. THEYS Walter P. Theys, age 70, of 2823 12th St., Two Rivers, died on Sunday morning, Dec. 14, 2008, at his residence. Walter was born on July 7, 1938, in the town of Montpelier, Kewaunee County, son of the late John and Laura (Jadin) Theys. He was a graduate of Kewaunee High School, class of 1956. On Oct. 8, 1960, he married Judy Ann Dhuey at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Algoma. Walter grew up in Kewaunee, and later moved to Two Rivers. He was an Automatic Press Operator for 40 years with Mirro Company, retiring in 2002. Walter was a former member of the Holy Name Society. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) Walter was preceded in death by his father-in-law: Eugene (Jim) Dhuey; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Hubert and Mary Ann Theys, and Louis Theys; and an infant sister: Jenny Theys. EUGENE THIELEN Eugene Thielen, 64, of Valders, died Saturday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, following a coronary attack. Funeral services will be at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at Christianson Funeral Home, Valders, and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clark Mills. The Rev. Gregory Putzer will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Thielen was born Oct. 11, 1906, at Manitowoc, son of the late Peter and Mary Koch Thielen. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc. He had been employed at Voight Lumber Co., Valders. He had resided at Cato. Mr. Thielen was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Manitowoc and the Holy Name Society of St. Mary Church, Clark Mills. He was also a veteran of World War II. Survivors include two brothers, Lester, of Marinette and George, of Manitowoc, a sister, Mrs. Baldo (Marie) Pucci, of Los Angeles and nieces and nephews. A sister preceded him in death. EVERETT T. THIELEN Everett T. Thielen, 56, of 1708 Nagle Ave., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening at home. He had a heart attack. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. E.A. Radey will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Thielen was born April 18, 1909, at Kenosha, son of the late Henry C. Thielen and Katherine Loef Thielen. He married Esther Bankert April 19, 1954, at Dubuque, Iowa, and had been employed 15 years as a route man for Dick Bros. Bakery. Mr. Thielen was a member of Eagles Aeries 706 and United Commercial Travelers. He is survived by his wife, a son James, mother and two brothers, Harold and Ralph Thielen, of Manitowoc. RALPH J. THIELEN Ralph J. Thielen, age 94, formerly of 2000 Clark St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 29, 2006, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc. He was born Sept. 17, 1912, in Manitowoc, son of the late Henry and Katherine (Loef) Thielen. On May 27, 1940, he married the former LaVerne Kozlovsky at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death July 30, 1994. Ralph was a lifelong tavern keeper and was also employed with Brandt Bus Company, as a school bus driver for the local high schools for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and Eagles Aerie 706. Ralph was an active member of the Manitowoc Lincoln High Boosters Club, and enjoyed Lincoln and Roncalli sporting events. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law; two grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and a sister-in-law. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Harold and Everett Thielen. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc. JOHN THIRY SR. John Thiry Sr., 60, of 2000 Johnston Drive, Manitowoc, died Friday at home. He married Leone Leitner March 19, 1928, at Luxemburg. He had been employed at the Hamachek Co., Manitowoc. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. JOSEPHINE A. THOR Mrs. Josephine Thor, 80, formerly of 1310 S. 16th St., Manitowoc, died Thursday morning at St. Mary Home, Manitowoc. James DeWitt will officate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Thor, nee Josephine Skarvan, was born March 12, 1892, in the Town of Carlton, Kewaunee County, daughter of the late Anton and Mary Heinesh Skarvan. She was married to Louis J. Thor April 8, 1913, at Norman. The couple operated a cheese factory in the Town of Carlton until 1922, moving to Manitowoc. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1963. Her husband preceded her in death June 9, 1968. She was a member of St. Theresa Society of St. Andrew Parish and Holy Rosary Society of St. Joseph Parish, Norman. Survivors include three sons, Arnold and Norbert, of Manitowoc and Richard, of Two Rivers; a daughter, Mrs. Bernard (Irene) Schmidt, of Manitowoc; a brother, Anton Skarvan, of Two Rivers; a sister, Mrs. Frank Schleis, of Kewaunee; 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. MARY A. TIBBITS Mrs. Mary A. Tibbits, 80, former resident of Manitowoc, died Sunday evening at Waukegan, Ill. She was married to Louis Tibbits in 1934. He preceded her in death in 1956. She was a member of St. Theresia Altar Society of St. Andrew Catholic Church. GLADYS G. TIENOR Gladys Tienor, age 88, formerly of Felician Village for many years, currently of 960 S. Rapids Road, Manitowoc, died Friday evening, Jan. 4, 2008, at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc. Gladys was born Jan. 13, 1919, daughter of the late Clifford and Frieda (nee-Sampe) Gunderson. She graduated from Hillside School in Manitowoc in 1932, and went on to high school and graduated from Lincoln Senior High, class of 1936. On Sept. 6, 1940, Gladys married Joseph G. Tienor at St. Mary's Clarks Mills. He preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 1993. She worked in the business office for the Mirro Corporation for a number of years. She then went on to raise five daughters and help her husband with the bookkeeping for Tri Motors. Gladys was a member of the former St. Andrew's Catholic Church. Gladys was very proud of the certificate she received for her dedication to the families of the Manitowoc community during her years of service from 1973 through 2004 as a charter member of the Citizens' Advisory Commission on Disability & Sensory Impairment. Gladys was preceded in death by her two sisters: Janet Schommer and Bernice Downs; one brother: John Tienor; four sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law: Marie Koerner, Rose (Bert) Meyer, Arnold (Albertha) Tienor, and Leonard (Mabel) Tienor, and two nieces. Stamborski will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Tisler, nee Annabelle M. Kostka, was born Dec. 26, 1910, at Harvey, Ill., daughter of the late Andrew and Susan Valent Kostka. She was married to William M. Tisler, Sept. 9. 1930, at Manitowoc. He preceded her in death May 20, 1980. Mrs. Tisler was a honorary member of St. Andrew St. Theresa Society. NORMA A. TRAINOR Norma A. Trainor, age 92, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, died on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 2, 2008, at Shady Lane. She was born on Nov. 19, 1915, in the town of Manitowoc Rapids, daughter of the late August and Emma (Klein) Fessler. On June 8, 1937, she married Francis Trainor at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Alverno. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1989. Norma was employed at Shady Lane for many years as a nurses' aide until her retirement. She was a member of the 3rd Order of St. Francis, and a life member of St. Paul Christian Women. CATHERINE TROST Mrs. Walter Trost, 44, of 528 South 27th street, died Saturday afternoon after a two weeks illness. WALTER TROST Walter Trost, 72, of 2014 Waldo Blvd., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Mr. Tost was born August 11, 1891, in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids, son of the late Joseph and Gusty Leverence Trost. He married Catherine Pinger in 1913 at Kellnersville. She died in 1937. Sept. 3, 1939, he married Mrs. Agnes Steder Walt. They located at Manitowoc where he was employed at Manitowoc Portland Cement Co., retiring about four years ago. He was a member of Holy Name Society of Holy Innocents Church and of the AFL Lime, Cement and Gypsum Workers Union, Local No. 34. Surviving are his wife; four sons Leonard, Clarence and Robert Trost of Manitowoc and Bro. LENA ULOVITZ DEATH CLAIMS YOUNG GIRL Death claimed Lena Ulovitz this morning after a lingering illness due to a throat disease. She died at the home of her father, 406 North Sixth street, for whom she had conducted the household since the death of her mother. The decedent was born in this city August 24, 1896, and was twenty-four years old. She leaves besides her father, three sisters - Mrs. Anna Dalton of Chicago, Mrs. Henry Olson of Marinette and Miss Mamie Ulovitz at home. JOHN UNGLENCK John Unglenck, 80, brother of William Unglenck of this city, died yesterday in a Green Bay hospital where he has resided the past ?? years. LOUIS J. URBAN EXTRA! LOUIS URBAN DROPS DEAD ON THE STREET Louis Urban, well known musician of the city, died suddenly late this afternoon, while walking in the west part of the city. Mr. Urban was on his way to attend to some business on the Hill and was stricken by heart failure and died almost instantly. Mr. Urban was widely known. He resided on Washington street. A widow and family survive. News of Mr. Urban’s death was a great shock to the community. He had been a resident here most of his life, and is well known. Interment will be at Calvary cemetery. Mr. Urban was 34 years of age and had been a resident here since he was a babe of a year old, coming to the city from Germany with his parents. He was born April 15, 1881 and for years had been one of the leading musicians of the city and leader of Urban’s harp orchestra. For some time Mr. Urban made his home at Kaukauna but later removed back here. A widow and two children, Arlene and Arthur survive, besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Urban, Maribel, two brothers, George this city, and Charles of Antigo and one sister, Mrs. K. The reception was delayed while the body of the dead man was removed, but later the wedding party repaired to the hall. The marriage of the couple took place at St. Mary’s church early in the day. The bride is a daughter of the engineer of the municipal lighting plant. The couple will make their home here. Manitowoc Daily Herald, Tuesday, June 08, 1915, Page 4 ********* MARINE BAND ESCORTS BODY OF LATE LOUIS URBAN TO LAST RESTING PLACE AT CALVARY CEMETERY Attended by the Marine band as escort and with the Freier Saengerbund and Concordia Singing societies attending, the body of the late Louis Urban was laid to rest today in Calvary cemetery, a large concourse of friends attending the services at the home and following the remains to the cemetery. Despite the fact that a driving rain storm was raging, the Marine band marched to the cemetery and played two selections at the graveside. Mr. Urban was a member of the band. At the services at the home the Freier Saengerbund and Concordia societies joined in singing and Judge A.H. Schmidt delivered the funeral oration. The casket was crowned with many beautiful flowers sent by friends. Pall bearers were Arthur Schuetze, Edward Schmitz, Henry Schreihart, J. Clark, W. Bruechert, A. Knickelbein. PRISCILLA A. VESELY Priscilla A. Vesely, age 87, formerly of 1202 Windiate St., Manitowoc, died peacefully Monday evening, Jan. 22, 2007, surrounded by her family at Park View Manor, Green Bay. Priscilla was born July 27, 1919 in Whitelaw, daughter of the late Louis and Mary Schuh Vogel. She was a 1937 graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc. On June 9, 1951, she was married to Lawrence J. Vesely at St. Michael Catholic Church in Whitelaw. He preceded her in death on July 26, 2003. Priscilla was a member of St. Francis of Assisi, former member of Holy Innocents Christian Mothers, and the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and fishing at her cottage in Little Sturgeon. Her two grandsons brought much joy to her life and she treasured the time she spent with them. MARTIN VOLLENDORF From Der Nord Westen, 27 May 1909: Death Wednesday last week in Fond du Lac, where he had been living for the past several years, of Martin Vollendorf, a former local resident. The deceased, who was born here about 50 years ago, leaves a widow and a daughter, as well as 4 brothers and 3 sisters. The body was brought here Friday and buried in the city cemetery. JOSEPH J. VONDRACHEK Joseph J. Vondrachek, 75, of 1132 N. 15th St., Manitowoc, died Monday afternoon. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Bernard Geimer will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Vondrachek was born Jan. 9, 1898, in the Town of Rockland, son of the late Joseph and Anna Tekalsky Vondrachek. He married Ella Vondrachek June 28, 1922, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Reedsville. He was employed at Wisconsin Knitting Co. and Cadel Knitting Co. as a foreman and as a manger of the Deep Rock Oil Co. Service Station, 11th Street and Wisconsin Avenue, Manitowoc, for 24 years, retiring in 1950. He was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society of the Church. ANTON WAGNER From Der Nord Westen, 16 Apr. 1896: Death on Mon. of 20 yr. old Anton Wagner, son of Manitowoc’s 3rd Ward resident Bernhard Wagner, of an illness in his back. The funeral took place this morning at the local Catholic Cemetery.


BERNARD WAGNER From Der Nord Westen, 01 Nov. 1906: An accident with a fatal outcome occurred in our city Saturday afternoon. Bernhard Wagner, an elderly resident of Manitowoc (he is 73), cabinet maker by trade, gave up his business several years ago but still does odd jobs here and there. He was busy Saturday afternoon repairing a wooden ceiling in the office of the Sloan Loan Co. on "K" Street. He stood on a scaffolding only 6 ft. high and tried to loosen a board with a chisel. The board suddenly gave way and Mr. Wagner lost his balance and fell from the scaffolding. He fell backwards and hit his neck in such a way that it broke, causing his death. Others nearby tried to help, but he was already dead. His son was notified at work in the boiler factory, and he arranged to have the body brought to the house. Mr. Wagner was a long-time resident of Manitowoc and was well thought of in the city.


JEAN M. WAGNER Mrs. Nicholas S. Wagner, 21, of 1707 Cherry Road, Manitowoc, died Friday evening at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. James DeWitt will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Wagner, nee Jean Kania, was born June 8, 1951, at Manitowoc, daughter of Harry Kania and the late Jeanette Pokorski Kania. She attended Lincoln High School, Manitowoc. JOHN WAGNER AGED RESIDENT DIES WHILE ON VISIT TO HIS DAUGHTER While on a vist to his daughter, Mrs. George Adelman, on Route 2, just south of the city, John Wagner, 83, passed away from a heart attack this morning. He has been residing with another daughter, Mrs. William Hartman of Sheboygan and came to the Adelman home Sunday for a visit, when he was stricken Monday night. The deceased was born in Buffalo, N.Y., in 1848 and came to Wisconsin in early life. His wife preceded him in death five years ago. Three sons, Albert of Valders, Joseph and Frank of Manitowoc; four daughters, Mrs. Matt Meyer, Mrs. Anton Neilitz and Mrs. George Adelman of Manitowoc and Mrs. William Hartman of Sheboygan, forty grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren survive. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning from the home of a daughter, Mrs. Neilitz, 1021 South 20th street at nine o'clock and at 9:30 from the St. Andrew's church with interment in Calvary cemetery. JULITTA E. WAGNER Julitta E. Wagner, age 94, a former Manitowoc resident, died early on Friday morning, Sept. 5, 2008, at Hamilton Memorial Home, Two Rivers. She was born on June 13, 1914, in Rib Lake, daughter of the late Andrew and Clara (Bonde) Bushman. On Oct. 8, 1938, she married Mathew J. Wagner at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Alverno. He preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1992. Julitta became a gold star mother when her son, Philip, was killed in action serving his country during the Vietnam War. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) She was preceded in death by a son: Philip Wagner; three grandchildren: Patti, Jeff and William "Billy" Wagner; six sisters: Marcella, Margaret, Rosalia, Marie, Aurelia and Cecelia; and four brothers: Odilo, Joseph, Raymond and Daniel. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Daniel Felton, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 8, 2008. ANNA WALL From Der Nord Westen, 03 June 1909: Death Sunday evening here of Mrs. Anna Wall, widow of Anton Wall who died 8 years ago, and the mother of clothing merchant John Wall here. Mrs. Wall was born in Bohemia 79 years ago and came to America in 1864, coming to Manitowoc in 1871 where she has lived ever since. She is survived by a son and 2 daughters. The funeral was held yesterday morning from the Catholic Church on the North Side.

The deceased was born in Bohemia in 1829 and came to America in 1864 and has been a 20-yr. resident of our state working as a tailor. He is survived by his widow and 4 children. ALVIN L. WALTERS Alvin L. Walters, age 77, of Manitowoc, died Friday afternoon, Nov. 17, 2006, at home. Alvin was born Oct. 10, 1929, in Manitowoc, son of the late Wendelin and Louisa (Leikam) Walters. On June 20, 1959, he married the former Rosalie Blashka at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. (Survivors omitted for privacy) He was preceded in death by a son-in-law; Gary Hickmann; eight brothers: Felix, Victor, Elmer, Fidelis, Floyd, Lloyd, Alvin (his namesake), and Harry; five sisters: Clara Brull, Marcella Tadych, Josephine Wachowski, Irene Komoroski, and Ida Grotbak; and sister-in-law: Gertrude Schultz; and brother-in-law: John Blashka. He was also preceded in death by many dear nieces and nephews. JOSEPH WANIGER Joseph Waniger, Sr., 72, retired farmer, died Saturday at the home farm, Manitowoc route 4, now operated by his son, William. Death followed a heart attack. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 8:30 from the Pfeffer funeral parlors and at nine o'clock from the St. Joseph's church, Silver Lake, the Rev. Specht officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Mr. Waniger was born in Germany on June 6, 1865. He came to America and to Manitowoc county with his parents when he was two years of age. On November 24, 1891, he was married to Theresa Brunner, who survives. Survivors besides the widow include three daughters, Mrs. Agnes Kaufmann and Mrs. Isadore Simon, both of Manitowoc, and Mrs. William Wolf, Des Plaines, Ill., nine sons, Willliam, at home, and Joseph Jr., Frank, Martin, Leo, Edward, Arthur, Bernard and Adrian, all of Manitowoc; one sister, Mrs. Catherine Vogel, Manitowoc; and 24 grandchildren. BERTHA A. WATTAWA Mrs. Thomas Wattawa, 72, of 1117 S. 17th St., Manitowoc, died Monday at home. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. John Hephner will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Wattawa, nee Bertha Isselmann, was born Dec. 4, 1899, at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Frank and Bertha Lenz Isselmann. She resided in Manitowoc all her life where she was married to Thomas J. Wattawa June 21, 1922, at St. Boniface Church. Her husband preceded her in death May 22, 1962. Mrs. Wattawa was a member of the St. Ann Christian Mothers Altar Society of the church. Survivors include two daughters (Survivors omitted for privacy.); two brothers, George, of Glenn Rock, N.J., and Edward, of Landsdowne, Penn., two sisters, Mrs. Richard Bodwin and Mrs. Norbert Lettenberger of Manitowoc and four grandchildren.
