Tadych was returning to his home here Saturday night from Waldo, Wis., where he had been visiting with his son Anton. His car ran into a ditch north of Erdman's Corners. Tadych lay in the ditch beside his wrecked car for nearly two hours early Sunday morning before he was discovered by a farmer and his two sons. They hurried him to the hospital, not, however before he had suffered greatly from loss of blood. The injured man sustained a broken leg, fractured jaw, chest injuries and lacerations about the eyes and lips but was conscious on Sunday and was able to tell how the accident happened. Was Retired Tadych, who retired from active service as foreman for pea canning plants after more than 40 years engaged in such work, had been at Waldo for a week visiting with his son Anton, in charge of the plant there. He started home at 11 Saturday night and had reached a point a short distance north of Erdman's Corners, on the old 141 route, when he noticed a car with glaring headlights zigzagging down the road toward him. Tadych said he pulled over as far as he coud to one side, but struck a culvert and the car turned over in the ditch. The injured man was finally able to draw himself from the wrecked coach but despite cries for help was unable to get any motorist to stop. It was two hours later when the farmer and his boys came along and discovered his plight. He rallied in the hospital on Sunday but last night began to fail and the end came this morning. Born In Poland The deceased was born in Poland 67 years ago and came to this country with his parents when a small boy. They settled in this city and on growing to manhood he entered the employ of the old Landreth pea canning factory here and advanced to the position of foreman. He continued with that plant under the name of the Wisconsin Pea Canning co. About twenty years ago he went with the Waldo Canning Co. at Waldo, Wis., as foreman and continued at that post until he retired two years ago, being succeeded by his son Anton. Sonnenburg at Sheboygan has decided that there will be no inquest in the death of Casmir "Charley" Tadych, 67, Manitowoc man who was fataly injured early Sunday morning near Erdman when his car was forced into the ditch by a car passing in the opposite direction. FELIX TADYCH TADYCH WAS SEEKING WORK BEFORE DEATH Felix Tadych, 29 year old southside man who was buried yesterday following the discovery of his floating body in the Manitowoc river early in the morning, apparently walked off the dock to his death while he was seeking employment on one of the boats, according to additional information secured by officers late yesterday. Although Tadych was reported to have last been seen on May 11, Alex Krschak, a local resident, reported to Detective Frank Tomcheck that he and Tadych had been at a northside rooming house until 11:45 o’clock on the night of May 12. When they left the place, Tadych walked across the street to the Goodrich dock steps and proceeded toward the river, stating that he was going to seek a job on one of the boats being prepared for the summer season. No inquest was held and authorities are convinced that death was due to accident. Manitowoc Herald News, May 24, 1929 P. 2 ******** Decomposed Body Of Missing Man Found In River, Fate continues To Be Mystery The partly decomposed body of Felix Tadych, 29, Manitowoc man last seen by relatives on May 11, was taken from the Manitowoc river by police of that city Thursday morning and interred in Calvary cemetery a few hours later. The manner in which the victim met his death remains a mystery. Identified by relatives, the body was not held for an inquest or further examination despite the presence of bruises and gashes about the head. These were caused by contact with objects in the river, in the opinion of Coronor W. G. Kemper, who held that an inquest would be unnecessary. There was no indication of foul play, he declared. The body was seen floating near the Soo line bridge by a bridge tender who notified police. Tadych was last seen in Manitowoc on May 11, when he spent some time at the home of his mother, Mrs. Tillie Tadych.
