JOSEPH J. SADLER Joseph John Sadler, 66, of 1133 A South 18th St., Manitowoc, died Thursday morning at Veterans Hospital, Wood, Wis., where he had been a patient four weeks. Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Pfeffer Funeral home, Manitowoc, and at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. John Landowski will officiate and burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Mr. Sadler was born Oct. 6, 1896, at Calumet, Mich., son of the late Matthew and Josephine Fritzel Sadler, July 31, 1928, he married Martha Kortas at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The couple made its permanent residence at Manitowoc where he was employed as a marine engineer on the ship South American the past 15 years and had worked on the Great Lakes the past 40 years. He was a member of the MEBA and a veteran of World War I where he served in the Cavalry Corps. Surviving are his wife; a daughter (private); three brothers, John of Milwaukee, Henry of Detroit and Frank of North Forks, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Andrew Perenchio of Milwaukee, Mrs. Anna Glisch of Oak Creek, Wis., and Mrs. Philip Engelhart of Milwaukee; and a granddaughter (private). VICTORIA SADUSKE Mrs. Edward Saduske, 52, 1333 South 14th street, died this morning at her home of a heart attack. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Leschke funeral home and at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic church, the Rev. Alfred Pritzl officiating. Mrs. Saduske, nee Victoria Kaiver, was born in Glenmore, in 1894, and following her marriage to Mr. Saduske, moved to Manitowoc. Survivors are the husband, two daughters, Mrs. William Naber of Milwaukee and Mrs. Edwin Bonin of Manitowoc; one grandchild; two brothers, Charles of Montana and James of DePere; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Jankowske of Green Bay and Mrs. Cecelia Drewski of Montana. Mrs. Saduske was a member of the St. Ann Christian Mothers and the St. Boniface Altar society. The body may be viewed at the funeral home from Saturday afternoon until time of services. ANDREW R. SALM Andrew R. Salm, age 83, of 13103 County Highway X, Newton, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Aug. 26, 1924, in Cleveland, son of the late Nicholaus and Marie (Gass) Salm. On June 19, 1948, he married Mary Ann Anhalt at St. Gregory Church in St. Nazianz. Together they farmed in the town of Meeme until his retirement. Andrew enjoyed reading, watching sports, mechanical tinkering and spending time with his family. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) HELEN P. SAMZ Helen P. Samz, age 80, of 1602 S. 25th St., Manitowoc, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born Oct. 10, 1927, in Reedsville, daughter of the late Steve and Anne (Svatek) Foreyt. On May 7, 1949, she married Vincent Joseph Samz at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Reedsville. Helen was employed with the Dramm Corporation in the shipping and receiving department for many years. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, the St. Claire Society, and she was a past officer of the St. Theresa Society at the former St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She was a Eucharistic minister for the homebound for the former St. Andrew's. Helen also was a past board member of the Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary and TOPS Wisconsin Chapter No. 642. Helen especially loved her flowers and to visit with family and friends. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) The family will greet relatives and friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. led by Deacon Robert Drobka. ALEXANDER SANVILLE INJURED MONTHS AGO, IS DEAD Alex Sanville, South Side Boy, Died at Hospital Today. STRUCK ON HEAD IN DIVE OFF SOUTH PIER Injuries which he sustained four months ago when he struck his head on an obstruction when diving from the south pier into the lake, resulted in the death of Alex Sanville, a South Side lad, today, his demise occurring at the Holy Family hospital where he had been cared for since the accident. Sanville suffered an injury to the brain which resulted in paralysis and there had been little hope for his recovery. The unfortunate boy was a son of E. Sanville Franklin street, and was 19 years of age. On the day of the accident in July, Sanville, with a number of other boys was on the south pier and the party decided to take a swim in the lake. Sanville made a dive head first, off the pier and in the leap struck his head on a submerged pile. The boy was was (sic) rescued from the water by companions after much effort and was removed to his home and later to the hospital, but he had never recovered and his death is a blessing. ECLAIRE SANVILLE CAPT. E. SANVILLE DIES AT SOLDIERS HOME, MILWAUKEE Civil War Veteran who lived for Years with Silver Plate Covering Brain, Passes Away Aged 74 Years Capt. Exclaim (sic) Sanville, civil war veteran and resident of this city, died at the National Sodiers' (sic) home at Milwaukee Friday at the age of 74 years. Death was due to paralysis which he sufferd some time ago and which ??? followed by a second and fatal attack on Friday. The body may be brought here for burial, though arrangements have not been completed. For many years Capt. Sanville, who served in the civil war as a corporal of company G in the 17th Wisconsin regimen (sic), had lived with a silver plate covering his brain, the plate having been placed upon the head when the injury which Capt. Sanville suffered while with his command in a battle during the war, troubled him. Physicians found that it was necessary to remove some of the bones in the head and a covering of the silver plate was provided for. The injury had caused Capt. Sanville little trouble after the plate was put on but his health was shattered and for years he had been feeble. He sailed the lakes for years. Following several months of suffering at his home here Capt. Sanville was taken to Milwaukee where he later entered the Soldiers' Home. Some time ago he suffered a severe stroke and it was feared that death would result but he recovered. Capt. Sanville, a title given him by friends, was born at Cheboygan, Mich., August 14, 1841, and later located at Sheboygan, Wis., and then in this city. He is survived by his widow and the following children; Frank, Archie, David and Mrs. J. Grayson, of Sheboygan; Ethy of Two Rivers; Mrs. Bert. CLARA M. SCHWARTZ LAUDE SARGENT Clara M. (Laude) Sargent, 82, of 1702 Cedar Grove Ave., Manitowoc, died Friday evening, June 3, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Monday at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo Schmitt will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Sargent was born Nov. 10, 1900, at Manitowoc, daughter of the late William and Anna Radl Schwartz. She was married to Elmer (Tiny) Laude. He preceded her in death in April of 1952. She was then married to William Sargent, Aug. 18, 1956, at Manitowoc. Mrs. Sargent was the owner and operator of Tiny Laude's Tavern for 45 years. Survivors include her husband, William; two brothers, William Schwartz and Edward Schwartz of Manitowoc; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Walker and Mrs. Luella Keinhofer of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Steven (Lillian) Kacynski and Mrs. Grace O'Conner of Manitowoc, and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Leatrice and Robert Lutterman, and two sisters. JEAN C. SCHAEFER Mrs. Lloyd (Jean C.) Schaefer, age 74, of 1029 S. 14th St., Manitowoc, entered eternal life late on Monday afternoon, June 9, 2008, surrounded by her family at the family residence. Jean was born on Sept. 10, 1933, in Two Rivers. She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Esther (Heiser) Meyer. Jean graduated from Reedsville High School with the class of 1951. On Dec. 18, 1953, she married Lloyd V. Schaefer in Manitowoc. Jean and her husband Lloyd owned and operated the Tradewinds Tavern and later Jean and Lloyds Bar on the corner of Franklin and South 14th St. in Manitowoc. She retired from the tavern business in 1985. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) She was preceded in death by one son: Thomas Schaefer in 1969; one brother: William Meyer. JULIA SCHALOWETZ Death came to Mrs. Julia Schalowitz(sic), wife of Joseph Schalowitz, Sr., 1712 Washington street, early Sunday morning, terminating an illness of but one week. The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Boniface church with burial at Calvary. Mrs. Schalowitz was 63 years of age and had been a resident of this city practically all her life. THERESIA SCHALOWETZ From Der Nord Westen, 02 Jan. 1896: Death Sun. evening, after a month long illness, of Mrs. Schallowitz, wife of John Schallowitz of Manitowoc, of cancer. The deceased, who was 67 yrs. of age, came with her husband and her family to America in 1868, settling in Manitowoc where they have lived ever since. In addition to her husband she leaves 2 grown children. The funeral will take place this morning at the Catholic Cemetery.


BERNARD J. SCHALOWITZ Bernard Schalowitz, 82, formerly of 1712 Washington St., Manitowoc, died Monday morning at St. Mary Home, Manitowoc, where he had been a resident since November. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Very Rev. Msgr. Alfred A. Schneider will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Schalowitz was born Feb. 25, 1885, at Manitowoc, son of the late Joseph and Julia Muench Schalowitz. He was employed at American Seating co., Manitowoc, and was a painter in the area. Survivors include several cousins. Two brothers preceded him in death. LLOYD SCHERER Lloyd A. Scherer, 69, of 1210 Marshall St., Manitowoc, died Sunday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Earl Brouchoud will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Scherer was born Oct. 2, 1901, at Manitowoc, son of the late William and Margaret Donohue Scherer. He married Marie Trost Nov. 11, 1939, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He had been employed as a steamfitter for the G.H. Kallies Co., Manitowoc. Mr. Schrerer was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Boniface Church and also a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local No. 445 of Manitowoc. EMMA SCHERMETZLER Pneumonia claims One Pneumonia which followed an attack of scarlet fever caused the death last night of Mrs. John Schermetzler, nee Emma Kasten, at her home on N. Sixth street. EDMUND SCHEUER Edmund L. Scheuer, of 858 N. 13th St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Thursday evening at home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Schneider-Mittnacht Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo Schmitt will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Scheuer was born June 16, 1889, at Francis Creek, son of the late Joseph F. and A?n Seidel Scheuer. He married Elizabeth C. Schroeder May 28, 1918, at Two Rivers. Mr. Scheuer was a member of Holy Innocents parish. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Ed Kadow and Mrs. LeRoy Hoffman of Manitowoc and Mrs. Arnold Rusboldt of Green Bay; two brothers, E.J. FRANK SCHILL From Der Nord Westen, 17 Mar. 1904: Death in Holy Family Hospital on Mon., following a six-week illness from a stroke, of Frank Schill, one of the oldest German settlers of our county. The deceased was born 08 Sep. 1824, in Kr. Saarburg, Rhineland, and came to America in 1849 settling in School Hill. About 12 yrs. ago he moved over to Manitowoc. Michael Kuhl is a brother-in-law of the deceased. The funeral was held this morning from the Catholic Church.


ANNA SCHINDLER From Der Nord Westen, 26 Oct. 1905: Death Mon. of Miss Anna Schindler, daughter of widow Ed. Schindler here, from a complication of illnesses. The deceased was born here 32 yrs. ago and has always resided here. In addition to her mother, she is survived by 2 brothers and 4 sisters. The funeral was held Wed. morning from St. Boniface Church.


EDWARD SCHINDLER From Der Nord Westen, 29 Aug. 1889: Death of Mr. Edward Schindler yesterday evening, 28 Aug. after a long illness. He was born 15 Sept. 1835 in Münsterberg in the Prussian Province of Schlesia. He was a veteran of the Civil War and served 3 yrs. in Company 'A', 5th Wisconsin Regiment, serving with that regiment at Gettysburg, The Wilderness, Fair Oaks, Spottsylvania Court House, and other battles. He leaves a widow and 7 children. Burial will be Sat. morning at 9 a.m. at the Catholic Church.


MARGARET SCHINDLER DEATH CLAIMS MRS. MARGARET SCHINDLER, RESIDENT OF COUNTY FOR MORE THAN SIXTY-TWO YEARS Mrs. Margaret Schindler, widow of the late Edward Schindler and a resident of the county for 62 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Scholten last evening, aged 68 years. She was born in Germany and with her parents located at Clarks Mills when six years of age. Later, with her husband she removed here and established the Schindler hotel which has been conducted at 819 Washington street for the past 45 years. Mrs. Schindler had been a patient sufferer for years. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Scholten, Mrs. John Steiner, Mrs. Walter Heingarten and Miss Theresa Schindler, and by two sons, Joseph and Edward, this city. SCHLIESLEDER Ladies of the St. Theresa Aid Society of the St. Boniface Catholic church will recite the rosary at the bier of Mrs. Anna Schliesleder at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral home at 3:15 p.m. Thursday. ANTON SCHLIESLEDER (d. 1915) BRIDGE MAN DIES AT POST OF DUTY, DURING THE NIGHT ANTON SCHLIESLEDER, AGED TENDER AT TENTH ST. BRIDGE, SUCCUMBS TO ATTACK OF HEART FAILURE LAST NIGHT Anton Schleisleder, aged tender at Tenth street bridge, died at his post of duty last night, a victim of heart failure. Mr. Schleisleder’s dead body was found at the entrance of the bridge house, near a bench upon which he had rested after having opened and closed the bridge for passage of a carferry. Mr. Schleisleder’s body was found by Mr. Brose, his assistant on the bridge when the latter stepped from the tender’s house to call his chief who had been absent for some time. The two had opened the draw for a boat and Mr. Schleisleder had seated himself on the bench outside to rest from the exertion and had suffered the fatal stroke before he could summon assistance. His body had fallen from the seat onto the walk, where it was found by Brose. Born in Germany, Mr. Schleisleder came here thirty years ago. Recently he was appointed tender at Tenth street bridge and had been faithful in his duties. Mr. Schleisleder is survived by two sons, Frank and Anton, both of this city. He was a member of the St. Boniface society. The body was removed to an undertaking establishment and later taken to the home of his son. ALVIN SCHMELZLE From Der Nord Westen, 13 Mar. 1890 Death on Wed. evening after a month long illness, of Mr. Alvin Schmelzle, a resident of Town Manitowoc. He reached the age of 84 yrs. and 12 days. The funeral will take place Sat. morning at 9 a.m. in the local Catholic Cemetery. The deceased leaves a widow and 8 grown children.


MARIA ANNA SCHMELZLE 03 Jan. Death New Year’s Day evening, after a short illness of Mrs. Mary Schmelzle. The deceased who was born 17 Dec. 1823, leaves 6 children. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at the Catholic Cemetery.


KENNETH J. SCHMIDT Obituaries—Kenneth J. Schmidt— Kenneth J. Schmidt, age 57, of 917 Hancock St., Manitowoc, died Saturday, January 1, 1994, while visiting his daughter and family in Marshfield, WI. Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening, January 4, 1994, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. William Zimmer with burial to follow at a later date at the Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. He was born March 2, 1936, at Manitowoc, son of the late Walter and Della Damm Schmidt. He was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1954 and married the former Ruth Gerharz on May 3, 1958, at Manitowoc. Mr. Schmidt was a police officer with the Manitowoc Police Department for 13 years and then owned and operated Ken’s Lakeshore Sewing. He was a member of Manitowoc Marine Band for over 40 years. Survivors include his wife, a daughter and son-in-law, two grandchildren, a sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Norman. NORMAN G. SCHMIDT County’s traffic death toll totals nine after crash MANITOWOC – Manitowoc County lost a solid citizen when Norman Schmidt, of Manitowoc, died of massive head injuries yesterday after his motorcycle collided with an automobile in the Town of Newton. The traffic fatality brings the county’s 1986 total to nine. Schmidt was pronounced dead at 12:15 p.m. at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. He was taken to Holy Family Medical Center in Manitowoc after the accident, which occurred at 8:30 a.m., to stabilize his vital signs. He was taken to St. Vincent because of the hospital’s head injury trauma center, Manitowoc County Coroner Marion Cumming explained. Apparently, Schmidt failed to yield the right-of-way when he was turning from English Lake Rd. to Highway 42, Ms. Cumming said. Schmidt was wearing a helmet. Alcohol does not appear to be factor in this case, she added. Schmidt retired from the Manitowoc Police Department about one year ago. He served as parking meter attendant for many years, Ms. Cumming said. “He was a very well-liked person in the community,” she added. Ms. Cumming said no charges are expected to be filed. ROBERT WALTER SCHMIDT Robert W. Schmidt, 61, Deputy Chief of Manitowoc Police Department, who resided at 614 S. 33rd Street, Manitowoc, died Monday Evening, May 4, 1987, at the family residence. Mr. Schmidt was born August 11, 1925, at Manitowoc, son of the late Walter T. and Della R. Damm Schmidt. He married the former Margaret Garber on October 16, 1948, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Mr. Schmidt joined the Manitowoc Police Department in December of 1947 where he presently held the position of Deputy Chief. Mr. Schmidt was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy from December of 1944 until July of 1946. Mr. Schmidt was a member of American Legion Drews Bleser Post No. 88, member of third Degree Knights of Columbus and former member of the Marine Band. Mr. Schmidt was a member of Manitowoc Professional Police Association. The Wisconsin Professional Police Association and The Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Association. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a son, four daughters and sons-in-law, a brother and sister-in-law, eight grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. JOSEPH SCHMITT From Der Nord Westen, 01 Dec. 1887: Death of Joseph Schmidt in the middle of Mon. night. He was an old settler, born on 12 Oct. 1808 in Schlierstedt, Baden, and who came here in 1848, settling in Kossuth. He later lived for quite a while in the city of Manitowoc. He was long ill and more recently bedridden. His burial will take place tomorrow at 9am in the Catholic Cemetery. He leaves a widow and two grown children.

NORBERT SCHNEIDER Norbert P. Schneider, 43, grocery store operator who resided at 1322 Green St., Manitowoc, died late Tuesday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. He had been hospitalized six weeks. Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and a 9 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church. The Rev. Schnell, 54, of 926 Washington St., Manitowoc died at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where he had been a patient nine days. CHRISTINE SCHREIHART Mrs. John P. Schreihart, 75, of 101 1/2 Washington Street, died at the Holy Family hospital early Sunday evening after having suffered a stroke. She suffered a stroke six years ago and had been an invalid since. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. from the Pfeffer funeral home and at 9 o'clock from the St. Boniface church. Interment will be in Calvary cemetery. Mrs. Schreihart, nee Christine Proell, was born in St. Nazianz, and in 1883 was married at that place to John P. Schreihart. They located in this city where Mr. Schreihart operated a confectionary store and from 1910 to 1924 was a rural mail carrier. In 1933 the Schreiharts observed their golden wedding anniversary. Mrs. Schreihart was a member of the St. Anne C.M.A. society of St. Boniface and the St. Theresa Aid society. Survivors are the widower; son, Herbert, city; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph Pfeffer Jr., Mrs. Esther Smith, Clara and Alma, all of this city; four grandchildren, June Schreihart, William, Joseph and Betty Pfeffer. The deceased fell from a scaffolding last 25 Sept. and injured his spine so severely that after 23 weeks, it lead to his death on 05 Mar. He was born 16 Oct. 1864. The burial took place last Sun. RAYMOND SCHUH, JR. Raymond Schuh Jr., age 77, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, died on Monday morning, Feb. 4, 2008, at Shady Lane. He was born in Manitowoc, son of the late Raymond and Marie (Knier) Schuh. Raymond graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, in 1948 and also attended Bowling Green University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Raymond resided in Colorado Springs, Colo.; Fort Worth, Texas; Upland, Calif.; and Medford, Ore. He was a store manager for Kmart. SCHWEIGL SUCCUMBS TO LONG ILLNESS Stomach troube, from which he had been a sufferer for some time, resulted in the death of Charles Schweigl at the family home, 1917 South Twenty-third street, at 7:30 last evening. Born in Austria August 30, 1867 Mr. Schweigl would have been sixty-nine years old this month. He came to this country at the age of twenty and made Manitowoc his home, being married here thirty-seven years ago to Frances Wellner. IGNATZ SCHWEITZER From Der Nord Westen, 20 Mar. 1902: Death Tues. of Town Manitowoc resident Ignatz Schweitzer, a well-known gentlemen of 69 yrs. He came from Germany in 1854 and settled in Town Manitowoc where he has lived for almost a half hundred years. Recently he became very ill and because of his age death quickly overtook him. He is survived by his sorrowing widow and a daughter, Mrs. Anton Belinski here. The funeral will be held this morning from the Catholic Church.


LUELLA E. SCHWOERER Luella E. Schwoerer, 75, of Meadow View Manor Nursing Home, Sheboygan, died Wednesday evening, Aug. 28, 1996, at the nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, 1996, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Roman Zbieranski O.F.M. with entombment in Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. The former Luella Eimermann was born June 30, 1921, in the town of Rhine, Sheboygan County, daughter of the late Albert and Hilda Riebrok Eimermann. On July 5, 1937, she married John Schwoerer, Luella and John operated the Rhine Center Tavern for nine years. Following the tavern business, the couple moved to Long Beach Calif., and were residents of the State of California for 39 years. Survivors include her husband, John Schwoerer; two sons and daughters-in-law; six grandchildren (Survivors omitted for privacy.; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Alice Eimermann, Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends also survive. NORBERT F. SCHWOERER Norbert F. Schwoerer, age 89, formerly of Manitowoc, presently residing at Rivers Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc, died Friday morning, January 26, 2007, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Norbert was born February 19, 1917, in the Town of Meeme, Manitowoc County, son of the late Frank and Ida (Heinzen) Schwoerer. He was employed in the construction trade and retired from The Mirro Aluminum Company after many years of service. Norbert led the rosary on a daily basis at his apartment complex in the evening with his special friends. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi and Eagles Aerie #706. Norbert enjoyed playing sheepshead and shooting pool. (Survivors omitted for privacy) He was preceded in death by two sisters: Alvina Shanahan, Silvia Meyer; a brother: Alphonse Schwoerer; and three brothers-in-law: Clem Shanahan, John Muehlbauer and Ralph Meyer. FRANCISKA SEDLACEK From Der Nord Westen, 30 Apr. 1891: Death on Sun. morning, 26 Apr., of Mrs. Sedlacek, wife of 5th Ward resident, Peter Sedlacek. Only 31, she is survived by her husband and 3 small children. The funeral took place Tues. at the Catholic Cemetery attended by a large number of mourners.

MICHAEL SEIDL Michael Seidl who located in Manitowoc county as a boy in the early 50's, died at the home of his son at Rockwell last night, aged 77 years. Mr. Seidl was a brother to Mrs. M. Simon who passed away in Milwaukee last week and whose funeral was held Saturday. Mr. Seidl was born in Austria Nov. 14, 1843 and with his parents located in the town of Kossuth upon arrival in this country. He is survived by three children, Michael, Jr, at Rockwell, Mrs. Louis Hassemer, Francis Creek and Mrs. Arthur Reichert, this city. Nineteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive. THERESIA SEITZ From Der Nord Westen, 02 Apr. 1896: Death Fri., after a year long illness, of Mrs. Ignatz Seitz of Manitowoc. A few years ago she had suffered a stroke that left her quite lamed. On Fri. she suffered another stroke and this time brought her end. On Sun. the deceased, who was in her late 40’s, was laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery.


CONSTANCE I. SELKE Constance I. Selke, age 53, of 1210 Marshall St., Manitowoc, died Friday December 8, 2006 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. Constance was born on October 5, 1953 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, daughter of Kenneth Joseph and Irene (Dickman) Rhines. She was a graduate of Lightfoot School in Sheboygan Falls, class of 1972. On February 13, 1982 she married Robert K. Selke in Sheboygan. Constance was employed by Bemis Manufacturing Company in Sheboygan Falls before working in housekeeping at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. She was formerly a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc, and currently a member of St. Francis of Assisi- Grand Ave. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday December 18, 2006 at St. Francis Assisi on Grand Ave. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Daniel Felton. JOSEPH SEPNAFSKI SR. Joseph A. Sepnafski Sr., 66, of 1406 S. 20th St. Manitowoc, died Saturday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Thaddeus J. Koszarek will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Sepnafski was born April 5, 1905, at Manitowoc, son of the late Anton and Antoinette Budnik Sepnafski. He married Mable Woellert April 23, 1928, at St. Boniface Church, Manitowoc. He founded Sepnafski Meats located at 14th and Washington streets in 1939. In 1946 he constructed a market at 1521 Washington St. which he operated until his retirement in 1963. Mr. Sepnafski was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 706 of Manitowoc and the Holy Name Society of the church. He was also very active in bowling in Manitowoc. Survivors include his wife, two sons, William and Joseph Jr., of Manitowoc, two brothers, Thomas, of Manitowoc and Albert, of Muskegon, Mich., three sisters, Mrs. Albert Naus, of Random Lake, Miss Augusta Sepnafski, of Milwaukee and Mrs. Robert Knoble, of Menomonie, Wis., and eight grandchildren. Five brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 o'clock this Monday afternoon where a Memorial service will be held at 8 o'clock by the Holy Name Society members of the parish and friends. EUGENE SEPNESKY Eugene F. Sepnesky, age 76, of 1243 S. 31st St., Manitowoc, entered eternal life Wednesday morning, Feb. 7, 2007, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Daniel Felton. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Eugene was born May 27, 1930 in the Town of Newton, Manitowoc County. He was the son of the late Anton and Barbara Frozena Sepnesky. Eugene was a long time employee with the City of Manitowoc at Evergreen Cemetery, from where he then retired in 1993. He then became faithful employed at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home for the next 12 years until poor health forced him to retire. Eugene was married to Elaine M. Fricke on Oct. 1, 1955, in Two Rivers. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi attending the Marshall site and was a member of the former St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Manitowoc Senior Center. CECELIA SEPNIESKY Mrs. Cecelia C. Sepniesky, 68, of 1324 S. 21st St., Manitwooc, died Friday at home.
