EDWIN NEMETZ Edwin Nemetz, 77, of 1319 S. 14th St., Manitowoc, died Sunday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Schneider-Mittnacht Funeral Home and at 10:00 o'clock at St Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rt. Msg. Alfred A. Schneider wil be the concelebrant with the Revs. Alfred Pritzl, John Hephner and John Gallagher and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Nemetz was born Dec. 15, 1895, at Manitowoc, son of the late Edmund and Anna Veseley Nemetz. He attended Manitowoc high schools. He married Martha Wojciechowsky June 15, 1921, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He was employed by Mirro Aluminum Co. as office manager until his retirement in 1961. Mr. Nemetz was a World War I veteran. He was a 55 year member of American Legion Drews-Bleser Post No. 88, a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Mirro Retired Club, a former member of the Holy Name Society of St. Boniface Church, a parish consultor and member of the parish council of St. Boniface Church and a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society, Manitowoc. JOSEPH T. NEUMAN Joseph T. Neuman, 78, of 809 S. 13th St., Manitowoc, died Thursday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. John Hephner will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Neuman was born Mar. 5, 1894, at Lost Lake, Wis., son of the late Joseph and Anna Goodwin Neuman. He married Veronica Helenick Feb. 15, 1915, at Doylestown, Wis. He was employed at Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry, Manitowoc, retiring in 1960. Survivors include his wife, seven sons, Lester, of New Berlin, Verlin and Mark, of Milwaukee, Donald, of Sheboygan, Alvin and Robert, of Manitowoc and Raymond, of Green Bay; three daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Myrtle) Olm, of Milwaukee, Mrs. Rueben (Joann) Plockelman, of Milwuakee and Mrs. Terry (Dolores) Rank, of Manitowoc; two brothers, John, of Randolph, Wis., and Leonard, of Beaver Dam; 50 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. JOSEPH NEUMANN From Der Nord Westen, 08 Feb. 1894: Death Wed. morning, after a long and painful illness, of Joseph Neumann in Town Newton. The deceased was born 02 June 1827 in the Rhineland and reached the age of 66 yr. 9 mos. 4 days. He came to America in 1853, first residing in Milwaukee and later in Town Kossuth, then lived for many years on a farm that he operated in Town Newton. He is survived by his widow and 4 children – 3 daughtersand 1 son – of whom two are married. The deceased is the father-in-law of Peter Endries of Manitowoc. The funeral will take place at 9 a.m. tomorrow at the local Catholic Church.

MARION J. (FRIEDER) NICHOLS Marion J. (Frieder) Nichols, RN, age 91, died peacefully at home on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006. She was born Sept. 11, 1915 in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Frank and Martha (Rogalski) Frieder. Marion was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, class of 1934, and earned a nursing degree in 1937 from Loyola University, St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Evanston, Ill. The school’s hospital retained her as a registered nurse until her marriage to Edwin L. Nichols on May 29, 1943 in Clarksville, Tenn., where she worked for the Montgomery County Department of Public Health. Marion returned to Manitowoc in 1944, and joined the Holy Family Hospital in 1946 as a staff nurse for 15 years, then as a night supervisor until her 1981 retirement after 35 years with the hospital. Marion often reflected on her rewarding 44 year career as a nurse with satisfaction and pride. Marion was a past member of St. Anne’s Society and a former member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She was a Meals on Wheels volunteer in her early retirement years, and was active in the local arts and crafts creating many family cherished charcoal sketches, oil and water color paintings, ceramics, and colorful, intricate Norwegian rosemals. She also is a past member of the American Tinnitus Association, Portland, Ore., the Manitowoc Senior Center, Capitol Civic Center, and the Manitowoc YMCA. Marion maintained her enthusiasm and appreciation for art and music, and cheerfully and contentedly enjoyed the special moments with her beloved family, home care health providers and friends, while always displaying a pleasant, loving and kind disposition. She will be missed by all. JOSEPHINE NIKOLAI Mrs. Anton Nikolai Sr., 81, formerly of Mishicot, died early Saturday morning at Park Lawn Home, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lambert Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mishicot, the Rev. Earl Brouchoud officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Nikolai, nee Josephine Kutil, was born Feb. 9, 1890, at Branch, daughter of Joseph and Eva Bie Kutil. She was married June 3, 1920, at Manitowoc, to Anton Nikolai, the couple residing there until 1932, moving then to a farm on Rt. 1, Mishicot. Her husband preceded her in death in 1949. She was a member of Holy Cross parish and Holy Cross Altar Society. Surviving are a daughter and a son; two brothers, John, of Washington and Michael, of Manitowoc; a sister, Mrs. Frank (Mae) Busker, of Mundelein, Ill,, and five grandchildren. He has lived here since 1856 and is survived by a son and 3 daughters. The funeral was held yesterday morning from the Catholic Church on the North Side.


PATRICK O'GRADY Manitowoc Pilot August 12, 1920 Patrick O'Grady died at his home, 1127 S Ninth St. at three o'clock this morning. His death was due to old age. Mr. O'Grady was born in Ireland 88 years ago and came to this country with his parents when a child. The family lived at Clarmont, New Hampshire, where the deceased grew to manhood, and came to Wisconsin with his young wife in 1859 and settled on a farm in the town of Meeme. After a residence of about forty years in Meeme, they disposed of the farm and removed to this city. His wife died on June 26 this year. Mr. O'Grady was an indulgent father, a kind husband, a good neighbor, and an upright citizen. He is survived by nine children as follows: Mrs. P.J. Hayes, Mrs. John Gallagher, Miss Lucy O'Grady and Mrs. Joseph Clark of Manitowoc, Mrs. E. Kinnane of Buffalo, N. Y. , Misses Verona and Agnes and Hilary O'Grady of Iron Mountain Michigan. The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Boniface church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

LAWRENCE E. OHLSEN Man Suffers Hip Injury in Fall Manitowoc- Lawrence Ohlsen, 51, of Manitowoc Rapids, suffered a hip injury when he fell to the floor with a ladder shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday at the County Armory Building, 930 N. 18th St., city police reported. Ohlsen was taken to Holy Family Hospital in a police emergency vehicle. Officers said he also had a broken finger on the left hand and a cut over the left eye. NICKOLAS OLLINGER From Der Nord Westen, 04 Oct. 1900: Death Tues. evening in a local hospital of Nic Ollinger of typhus, from which he had been ill for a period of 5 weeks. Mr. Ollinger was born 03 Nov. 1862 in Town Manitowoc and operated a farm on the southern boundary of Manitowoc City. He is survived by his widow and 2 children. His funeral will be held tomorrow morning.


CLAUS ORDING Claus Ording, Old Resident, Dies, age 73 Had been a resident in County since he was 23 years old Claus Ording, an old resident and for years engaged in business as a mason contractor,died at his home, 1009 Columbus Street,last night, death following a two week illness. He was 73. Mr. Ording, who was born in Germany, came to Manitowoc as a young man of 22 and had made his home here since. Decedent is survived by his wife, one son and four daughters. Nicholas of Sheboygan, Mrs. Simon Malloy, of Milwaukee, Mrs. George Herman, Mrs. John Pollock of this city, and Mrs. Andrew Clark of Chicago. MARGUERITE ORDING Mrs. M. Ording, Co. Pioneer Called to Rest Mrs. Margaret Ording, widow of Claus Ording, died at the family home at 1009 Columbus street Thursday afternoon at 5 o'clock. the funeral will be held from the home Monday morning with service at 9 o'clock at St. Boniface Catholic and burial will be at Calvary. Mrs. Ording was seventy-two years old. Having been born in Paris, France June 14, 1851. She came to this country at the age of one year with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Nic Netzer, the family taking up its home in Cooperstown, this county. In 1876 she was married to Claus Ording who preceded her in death seven years ago. The family took it home in the city in 1893 and have always since resided here. Through her personal traits Mrs. Ording won for herself a wide circle of friends to whom her death will come as a shock. Mrs. Ording is survived by five children; Nic Ording of Sheboygan, Mrs. Clara Malloy, Mrs. George Herman, Mrs. John Pollock and Mrs. Andrew Clark all of this city. ELIZABETH ORTH Mrs. Elizabeth Orth, 76, of 1415 S. 37th St., Manitowoc, died Thursday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where she had been a patient the past three days. Mrs. Orth, nee Elizabeth Kraiser, was born Jan. 19, 1894, at Stratford, Wis., daughter of the late John and Mary Engeldinger Kraiser. She was married to Edward A. Orth May 4, 1920, at Manitowoc, where the couple located. He preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1961. Mrs. Orth was a member of the St. Boniface St. Ann Society. HELEN ORTH Mrs. Melvin Orth, 66, of 2130 S. 23rd St., Manitowoc, died Saturday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. MATHIAS ORTH From Der Nord Westen, 17 Jan. 1901: Death Sat. evening of 62-yr. old Mathias Orth from heart trouble. Mr. Orth had trouble with his heart the entire day, the major part of which he spent in bed. In the evening he got up and sat in an armchair. He asked for his medicine, but as Mrs. Orth went to get the bottle he died suddenly. His doctor was called but could only confirm the death. Mr. Orth was born in the Rhineland and came to America with his parents when he was 15. The family settled in Town Centerville. During the Civil War Mr. Orth served with the 22nd Michigan Infantry Regiment. After the war he married and settled in Town Gibson, moving to Manitowoc a year later. In addition to his widow he is survived by 11 children. The funeral took place yesterday morning from the Catholic Church.


RAYMOND ORTH Raymond J. Orth, 48, of 2407 Division St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Monday of a coronary attack at his home. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc and 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. John S. Landowski will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Graveside military services will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Orth was born March 2, 1921, at Manitowoc, son of the late George and Agnes Clark Orth. He married Mildred Burich Sept. 30, 1944, at Champaign, Ill. Mr. Orth was graduated from St. Andrew Parochial school and Lincoln High School, class of 1939. He was employed for the City of Manitowoc Street Department and was a member of the Teamsters Local 619 and the Otto Oas Post 659, V.F.W. He was also a veteran of World War II serving as sergeant in the Air Force from 1962 to 1965 (sic). Survivors include his wife; two sons; two daughters, two brothers, and two sisters. ODELLIA PASTERNASKI From Der Nord Westen, 05 Sep. 1907: As 7th Ward resident Ignatz Pasterneski awoke yesterday morning, he was shocked to discover that his wife lay dead beside him in bed. The lady had not been feeling well with a chest cold for the last several weeks, but no one anticipated that her death was so near. The deceased, who is survived by her husband and several children, was born in the state of New York 59 years ago. Her funeral will be held this morning.


EMIL J. PAULY Emil J. Pauly, 77, of 1419 N. Eighth St., Manitowoc, died Thursday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo Schmitt will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Pauly was born May 9, 1892, at Port Washington, son of the late Nicholas and Louise Fuerst Pauly. CATHERINE PELLETT MRS. PELLETT DIES AT HOME EARLY SUNDAY Mrs. Catherine Pellett, 73, wife of Walter Pellett, was the former Catherine Bartelme, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bartelme and was born at Denmark, January 23, 1860. When she was four years of age the family moved to Green Bay and still later the family located in the town of Gibson. It was there on May 2, 1881 that she was married to Walter E. PELLETT DIES AT HOME EARLY SUNDAY Prominent Local Woman To Be Buried Wednesday Morning, Calvary After a three weeks illness, Mrs. Catherine Pellett, 73, wife of Walter Pellett, former contractor and ex-sheriff, and a resident of the city for more than 45 years, died at the family home, 2503 Clarke street early Sunday morning. Although her death was not unexpected news of her passing was learned with regret by a large host of friends. Mrs. Pellett had been prominent in church and welfare work. She was a member of the Christian Mothers' society of the St. Paul Catholic church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the home and at 9:30 fromm St. Paul's Catholic church in charge of Rev. Father Jaekels. Interment will be at Calvary cemetery. The deceased who was Catherine Bartelme, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bartelme, was born at Denmark, January 23, 1860. LAWRENCE PELLOW Lawrence G. Pellow, 68, of 400 East Reed Ave., Manitowoc, died Tuesday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Schneider-Mittnacht Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. John Hephner will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Pellow was born Nov. 5, 1903, at Oconto Falls, son of the late John and Elizabeth Perria Pellow. He married Marcella Greenen. She preceded him in death in 1953. He then married Jennie Rogaczewski Malsh in Novermber of 1955 at Milwaukee. He was employed at Medusa Cement Co., Manitowoc, for 18 years, retiring in 1967. He was a member of the A.F.L., C.I.O., the United Cement Lime and Gypsum Workers Union and St. Boniface Catholic Church. ANNA PFEFFER From Der Nord Westen, 23 June 1904 Death Sat. from old age debility of 88-yr. old Mrs. Joseph Pfeffer in the home of her son-in-law Anton Wilfert. The deceased, who was born in Bavaria, came to Manitowoc with her husband in 1852 and has lived here ever since. Her husband predeceased her in 1867. For many years the family operated a guesthouse on the corner of Marshall and Main St. called the Pfeffer House. The building, one of the first in the city, was razed by the present owners, Messrs. Kunz & Bleser, to make way for new construction. Mrs. Pfeffer, who was one of the oldest German settlers in our city, was widely known and admired. She leaves 3 children, namely, a son and 2 daughters. Another son lost his life in the burning of the steamship “Sea Bird”. Her funeral was held Tues. morning from St. Boniface Church.


JOHN PFEFFER From Der Nord Westen, 25 July 1889: Death on Wed. morning of 31 yr. old John Pfeffer after a long illness, of consumption. He was a native of Manitowoc and enjoyed many activities. His father died several years ago, but his mother is still living and in good health. One brother and 3 sisters survive, but one brother preceded him in death. For many years he has been married to Susanne Meyer of St. Nazianz, from which marriage 3 children were born and survive with the mother. ANTON PHILIPPSEN (From the Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter) Anton Philippsen, 72, of 731 South 20th street, died early this morning at his home. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Pfeffer funeral home and at 9 o'clock at St. Paul Catholic church, the Rev. Martin Jaekels officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. He was born in Germany in 1876 (sic) and came to this country when a boy. He engaged in farming until a few years ago. He never married. He is survived by a sister, and five brothers. She was married to Joseph Philippsen in June of 1909 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death in 1969. She was a Manitowoc resident all her life. She was former owner of Silver Creek Park and also the University of Wisconsin Extension property, which was a part of the Ollinger homestead farm. She was a charter member of St. Andrew parish and also a charter member of St. Andrew Womens Council. Survivors include a son, a daughter, and seven grandchildren. STEVE PLEKAN Steve Plekan, 57, who resided with a daughter and son-in-law, died Sunday afternoon, May 25, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. For the past year and a half he had been residing with a daughter, Mrs. Steve Fote, in Milwaukee. FATHER MATHEW RADEY Date of publication unknown Matt Radey Dies Matthew Radey, a former well known resident of Manitowoc county, having made his home on a farm six miles south of the city up to last fall, died today at Sheboygan, where the family removed after leaving here. Mr. Radey had been ill but a short time and death was due to an attack of pneumonia. The body will be brought here for burial, funeral services being held at St. Boniface. church at 9 o'clock Friday morning. Mr. Radey is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Alex Glysch, this city and Mrs. Roy Streuch of Sheboygan and one son, Adolph, of Sheboygan. An aged father, Peter Radey of Rockwell, and two sisters, Mrs. Emil Ginzel, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Richard Stangel, Kewaunee, and four brothers, Emil of Green Bay, John of Montana, Joseph of Branch and Frank of Rockwell also survive. ELIZABETH REINDL From Der Nord Westen, 10 July 1902: Cancer took the life of Mrs. John B. Reindl on Mon. in the local hospital. She was born in Bohemia 03 Apr. 1845 and came to America with her parents in 1855, the family settling in Town Cooperstown. There she eventually married her now surviving husband and they moved to Manitowoc in 1873. She is also survived by 7 children. Her funeral was held yesterday morning from the Catholic Church.

LEONORA RIEDERER From Der Nord Westen, 25 July 1901: After a long illness Mrs. Louis Urban died Fri. of consumption. Mrs. Urban nee Riederer, was born in Manitowoc on 06 Oct. 1879. On 27 Nov. last year she married her now surviving husband, Louis Urban. Shortly after her wedding she developed her fatal disease which brought an end to her young life. The deceased, who formerly always gave the appearance of a healthy and robust man, caught cold recently while working for the brewing firm Kunz, Blaser Co., and so severely did the cold develop that it became a fatal illness. From the Manitowoc Daily Herald, Manitowoc WI, July 12, 1915: Mrs. Riplinger, one of city's oldest pioneers passes away at advanced age of 98 years. Has resided in this city continuously ever since 1854 - funeral tomorrow conducted by her grandson. One of the very oldest residents of the city was taken away by death Sunday in the person of Mrs. Marie Riplinger (nee Ley) widow of Michael Riplinger, who died at the family home, 1117 S. Ninth Street. The deceased was born in Wellingen, Kries Merzig, Trier, Germany, on August 20, 1817, being a few weeks of her 98th anniversary. She came to America in 1845 locating at Buffalo and there married her late husband in 1848. Six years later the family came here to reside and have continued to reside here ever since, being pioneers in every sense. Decedent has enjoyed fairly good health up to a few weeks ago when she was confined to her bed with infirmities that forcasted the end. She celebrated her golden wedding in 1898. Two daughters survive her - Mesdames August Nusang and August Dusold. There are six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Arthur Wyseman, one of the grandchildren, has made his home with her since his childhood. The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9 o'clock from St. Boniface Church with interment at Calvary. The services will be conducted by her grand- son, Rev. August Dusold. Mrs. Riplinger was of an unassuming disposition but was loved for her many virtues. She made friends easily and retained them and her memory will be cherished. This additional info. on Marie is from the Manitowoc Pilot: The pall bearers were Arthur J. Wyseman, Michael Auermiller, Fred Dusold, Albert Dusold, Jos. Dusold and Joseph Degenhardt, all relatives of the deceased.


MICHAEL RIPPLINGER From the Manitowoc Pilot: Died May 18, 1902, Michael Ripplinger, one of the few pioneer settlers of Manitowoc county died Saturday at his home 1117 South Ninth Street. He was a native of Germany and was born September 29, 1817. At Buffalo, N.Y., he was married in 1848 and seven years later came to this city, where he has made his home since. He was a father of six children, four of whom survive. They are Mrs. Mary Nusang, Mrs. Mathilda Dusold, Mrs. Elizabeth Wyseman and H. J. Ripplinger. The funeral was held from St. Boniface church Wednesday at 9 o'clock. Arthur Wyseman, a student of the Harvard University Law school, is a grandson of Michael Ripplinger, and the old gentleman took great pride in the young man's progress in life. *********** From Der Nord Westen, 22 May 1902: Another one of our old settlers has died after a long bout of bronchitis, the attack of which the age-weakened body was unable to throw off. Michael Riplinger has died in his residence 1117 S. 9th St. Mr. Riplinger was born 29 Sep. 1817 in Bindingen, Germany, came to America in the 40's, married Miss Mary Ley in Buffalo on 29 Apr. 1848 and shortly thereafter came to Wisconsin. He lived in Milwaukee for 7 yrs., then came to Manitowoc in 1855 where he has lived ever since. He worked as a shoemaker here for many years, later opening a retail store which he operated a long time before retiring. In 1898 he and his wife celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. In addition to his sorrowing widow he is survived by 4 children - H.J. Riplinger, Mrs. Mary Rusang, Mrs. Mathilde Dusold, and Mrs. Elisabeth Wysemann. 2 other children preceded him in death. His funeral was conducted yesterday morning from the Catholic Church to the Calvary Cemetery.

FERDINANDINE ROEFFS From Der Nord Westen, 10 Apr. 1902: Death in the local Holy Family Hospital on Fri. of Mrs. Ferdinandia Roefs following an operation which she had to undergo several weeks ago. Mrs. Roefs lived in our city for the past 47 years and reached the age of 67. Mourning her death are 2 sons and a daughter, the last mentioned having left on a journey to Germany 2 months ago where she still remains. The funeral took place Mon. morning from the Catholic Church.


JACOB ROEMER From Der Nord Westen, 20 Mar. 1902: Our well-known fellow citizen and prominent businessman, Mr. Jacob Roemer, closed his eyes Tues. in final sleep following an illness of about 2 wks. Mr. Roemer had fallen ill last autumn and was bed-ridden for quite a while but appeared to recover. He suffered a relapse about 2 wks. ago. He was born 26 Aug. 1839 in Croev, Rhineland, but came to Manitowoc as a child with his parents. Here he learned the tinsmith trade and in 1881 entered the metal ware business of E.K. Rand. The firm later incorporated under the name Rand & Roemer Hardware Co. where he served the last years as president. Mr. Roemer was twice married, his first wife having died 17 yrs. ago, while his second wife survives him. Also surviving are 7 children. The funeral will be held early tomorrow at 9 a.m. from the Catholic Church to the Catholic Cemetery.


JOHANN ROEMER From Der Nord Westen, 10 Nov. 1892: Death on Sun. morning of 70 yr. old Johann Roemer, a resident of Two Rivers Road. The deceased was born in Cröff, Rhineland, and came to Manitowoc in 1847 where he has lived ever since. About a year and a half ago he suffered a stroke and has been bedridden up until his death. He leaves two grown children. The funeral took place Wed. at the Catholic Church.


OSCAR ROEMER From Der Nord Westen, 09 Apr. 1908: Last week we reported the death of a daughter of Fred Roemer here, and today we must report that his eldest son, 19-year old Oscar, has died of consumption with which he fell ill last Fall. In addition to the deeply sorrowing parents, he is survived by 6 brothers and a sister. The funeral was held yesterday morning at the Catholic cemetery.


PAUL B. ROHAN Paul D. Rohan 61, of 2401 Clark St., Manitowoc, died early Thursday at his home following an unexpected coronary attack. Funeral services have been tentatively set for 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 9 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, the Rev. Clement P. Kern officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. The American Legion Drews Bleser Post, Manitowoc, of which he was a member, will perform the military rites. Mr. Rohan was born July 7, 1898, at Rome, Wis., son of John and Ellen Moore Rohan. His family moved to New London where he lived until 1917 when he entered the service and fought in World War I. He was a corporal in the army quartermaster corp stationed in Germany. On his discharge in 1919 he moved to Manitowoc where he lived until his death. He was a member of the American Legion Drews Bleser Post, the Holy Name Society of St. Paul Catholic Church and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Prior to his retirement in 1951, he was 26 years employed as a switchman for the Chicago and North Western Railroad. He married Irene Moser Feb. 14, 1920, at Manitowoc. Survivors include his wife, three daughters, a sister, Mrs. Earl Brey of Milwaukee, and six grandchildren. Ten of the children, including the newborn, are still alive and Rohr himself has for years been ill and unemployed.


JOHANN ROHRER From Der Nord Westen, 04 July 1889 On Sat. evening, Mr. John Rohr(sic), age 53, died after a six-week confinement.The deceased was a resident on City Line in Town Manitowoc, and had suffered many years with asthma. The primary cause of death, however, was dropsy. He leaves ten children, of which 3 are still quite young. His wife preceded him in death several years ago. His remains were interred in the Catholic Cemetery on Tues. morning.


ELAINE G. ROIDT Elaine G., 13 month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Roidt, 511 Buffalo street, died of pneumonia at the hospital Sunday afternoon. He married Dorothy Klein in 1931. She preceded him in death in 1940. He married Martha Brey Nov. 14, 1942, at Manitowoc. He was veteran of World War I, serving in the U.S. Navy. He had been employed at Aluminum Specialty Co., Manitowoc, retirirng in 1967. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) A daughter, two brothers and sister preceded him in deaths. MARTHA S. RUSBOLDT Mrs. Martha S. Rusboldt, 65, of Manitowoc, died Thursday morning, April 15, at Extended Care Facility of Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. James Stamborski will celebrate the Mass of Resurrection and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mrs. Rusboldt, nee Martha S. Brey, was born Dec. 24, 1916, at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Edward and Frances Sedlachek Brey. She was married to Erwin F. Rusboldt, Nov. 14, 1942. He preceded her in death Jan. 6, 1973. Survivors include five sons and three daughterrs-in-law, three daughters and two sons-in-law, two brothers, a sister, and 16 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers and a sister.
