LINDA W. JANCE Mrs. Linda Jance, 84, a former Manitowoc resident, who resided with her daughter, Mrs. William (Virginia) Krieger, of 6726 Monero Dr., Palos Verdes Peninsula, Calif., died Tuesday at a California hospital. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, and at 1:30 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. William Harvey will officiate and burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Kossuth. Mrs. Jance, nee Linda Warnecke, was born Sept. 10, 1886, at Sheboygan, daughter of the late August and Louise Wendell Warnecke. She was married to Walter Jance June 24, 1915, at Sheboygan. He preceded her in death Sept. 5, 1961. Survivors include her daughter, three brothers, August, Alfred and Walter, of Sheboygan and three grandchildren. OSCAR JINDRA Oscar Jindra, 59, of 2916-12th St., Two Rivers, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home Tuesday afternoon. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. T.F. Stern officiating. Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Kossuth. Mr. Jindra was born Feb. 24, 1905, at Mishicot, a son of the late Geeorge (sic) and Mary Lenhardt Jindra. He attended the Mishicot schools and for the past 29 years was employed at the Mirro Aluminum Co., Two Rivers. He married the former Viola Fronk at Mishicot Sept. 6, 1933 after which the couple moved to Two Rivers. (Survivors omitted for privacy) Two brother preceded him in death. VIOLA F. JINDRA Viola F. Jindra, age 90, of Two Rivers, died Monday evening, March 18, 2002 at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2002 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. David Arndt, with burial to follow in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, town of Kossuth. Viola was born March 12, 1912 in the town of Franklin, daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Wacek Fronk. On Sept. 5, 1933, she married Oscar Jindra in Mishicot. He preceded her in death Sept. 8. 1964. Viola was employed at Paragon Electric Co. for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed doing puzzles, family gatherings and loved her family dearly. She will be sadly missed by all. ALFRED E. JONAS Alfred E. Jonas, age 84, a resident of St. Mary’s Home, Manitowoc, formerly of Two Rivers, went home with our Lord early Saturday, June 26, 2004 at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, with burial to follow in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc. Alfred was born Sept. 27, 1919 in the town of Two Creeks, a son of the late Emil and Martha (Schmidt) Jonas, and attended the Twin Elder School. He was confirmed on Aug. 21, 1932 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Two Creeks. Alfred worked on the family farm in Two Creeks until moving to Two Rivers in 1945, and began working for Hamiltons Industries. He was employed with Hamilton’s for nearly 40 years, retiring on Sept. 1, 1981. Mr. Jonas married Edith Anklam on May 2, 1964 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. She preceded him in death November 28, 1997. Alfred was a longtime, faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, and former choir member; he was also a member of the Two Rivers Senior Center. He enjoyed time spent with family, the deer hunting camp, and also enjoyed playing cards, dartball, and bowling. ARNOLD H. JONAS Arnold H. Jonas, 55 of 909 18th St. Two Rivers, died Monday at home. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Klein and Stangel Inc. Funeral Home, Two Rivers. The Rev. Edward Stelter will officiate with burial in Knollwood Gardens, Town of Kossuth. Mr. Jonas was born Feb. 24, 1921, in the Town of Two Creeks, son of the late Emil and Martha Schmidt Jonas. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He had been employed at Hamilton Industries, Two Rivers for 36 years. Surviving is a brother, Alfred, of Two Rivers. EDITH H. (ANKLAM) JONAS Edith H. (Anklam) Jonas, age 88, of Two Rivers, died Friday morning, November 28, 1997, at the Hamilton Memorial Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 1, 1997, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Rev. Edward Stelter will officiate with burial to follow at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, town of Kossuth. She was born July 3, 1909, at Pine Grove, Wis., daughter of the late Herman and Lena Barth Pahnke. She attended schools in Pine Grove. On August 22, 1931, she married George Anklam at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Pine Grove. He preceded her in death on February 8, 1961. On May 2, 1964, she married Alfred Jonas at St. John’s Church, Two Rivers. Edith was employed for many years at Stangel’s Super Valu Store. She was a member of St. John’s Ladies Society, St. John’s Quilters, Two Rivers Senior Citizens, and was an avid dartball player. She also enjoyed playing golf, hunting and cooking many meals for the hunting group. GEORGE F. KADOW George Frank Kadow, 68, of 1511 S. 35th St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday evening at home following a coronary attack. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Wesley Methodist Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Donald T. Stannard will officiate and burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Kossuth. Mr. Kadow was born July 14, 1902, at Manitowoc, son of the late Paul and Frances Novack Kadow. He attended schools at Manitowoc and as a young man worked as an apprentice tool and diemaker at Mirro Aluminum Co. from 1918 to 1938. He then went to Manitowoc Engineering as a tool and diemaker until September of 1970 when he became ill. Mr. Kadow was a member of Wesley Methodist Church, the Men's Brotherhood, and also a member of the Machinist Local No. 516, Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert and Wayne of Manitowoc; two daughters, Miss Merlyne Kadow at home and Mrs. Charles (Karen) Steffen of Manitowoc; a brother, Paul, of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Rollo (Frances) Owr of Green Bay and Mrs. Katherina Knoff, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and eight grandchildren. NANCY M. KAPPELMAN Mrs. William (Nancy) M. Kappelman, age 63, of Manitowoc, died Monday evening, Dec. 19, 2005, at her residence after a quick and courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 916 Pine St., Manitowoc. The Revs. Paul Schossow and Loren Lindeman will officiate, with burial at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Highway 310, Manitowoc. The former Nancy Guetschow was born Nov. 8, 1942, in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Arthur and Grace Sorenson Guetschow. Nancy was a 1960 graduate of Washington High School, Two Rivers. On Dec. 4, 1965, she was married to William J. Kappelman at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Two Rivers. Prior to her marriage, Nancy worked for Hamilton Manufacturing in Two Rivers, and after her marriage, she worked at the Manitowoc Clinic, Rex Clean, and also, with her husband, ran the Kappelman Potato Farm. She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Ladies of Immanuel. Nancy enjoyed reading, gardening, genealogy and her family, especially her grandchildren. HAZEL I. KEUP Hazel I. Keup, age 91, of Hamilton Memorial Home, Two Rivers, died Friday, July 25, 2003, at Aurora Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Rev. David Scherbarth will officiate. Burial of her cremated remains will take place at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Hwy 310, Manitowoc. Hazel Ingaberg Sanness was born on February 22, 1912, in Beaver Bay, Minn. to her parents, Carl and Hilda Christianson Sanness, who immigrated from Norway. She was educated in Beaver Bay and Duluth, Minn. On February 20, 1932, she married Lester Emil Keup at Menominee, MI, by Rev. Theodore Thurow at Christ Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death February 21, 1998, after 66 years of marriage. Lester and Hazel lived on the Keup homestead farm for some 13 years. After moving to Two Rivers, Haze1 pursued her love for hospital and clinic work. She worked as a surgical technician, retiring from the Manitowoc Clinic. Hazel worked for C.C. Case School for 21 years. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid Society for over 40 years, former member of the American Medical Society of Wisconsin, and the Two Rivers Senior Center. LESTER E. KEUP Lester E. Keup, age 88, of Two Rivers, was taken by his Lord on Saturday morning, February 21, 1998, at Two Rivers Community Hospital. David Scherbarth with burial of his cremains at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, town of Kossuth. He was born June 4, 1909, at Kewaunee, son of the late William and Delia Roggenbau Keup. He married Hazel Sanness on February 20, 1932, at Menominee, Mich. He sailed the Great Lakes with the United States Army Corps. of Engineers for 13 years and then moved back to the family farm in west Kewaunee until 1953 at which time the family moved to Two Rivers where he worked at Fisher Hamilton until he retired in 1974. KIELMAN Mrs. Fred Kielman, 67, of 2511-16th St., Two Rivers, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the summer home of a sister, Mrs. John Fredin of Antigo, at Crystal Lake, Langlade County. She had been visiting with her sister for several days. Funeral arrangements ware incomplet but services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Deja and Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers. Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Kossuth. Mrs. Kielman, nee Irma Pollock, was born in 1893 at Mattoon, Wis., a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hyatt Pollock. She was married June 2, 1912, to Fred Kielman at Mattoon. After a short residence at Elton, Wis., the family lived at Wabeno for 30 years, coming to Two Rivers in 1956. Besides her husband and sister she leaves five daughters, Mrs. Ray S. Schmitt of Two Rivers, Mrs. Chester Krawze and Mrs. Arthur Winkelman of Laona, Mrs. John Maves of Crivitz and Mrs. Bert Sherrick of Wabeno; three sons, Leslie and Lyle of Two Rivers and Robert of Wabeno; a brother, Fred Pollock of Antigo, 24 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. JAMES G. KIESNER James Garfield Kiesner, 52, of 1519 Iris Dr., Manitowoc, died Wednesday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Phipps Memorial Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Gervase Zanotti will officiate with burial in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Kossuth. Mr. Kiesner was born July 14, 1920, at Quinney, Wis., son of the late William and Selma Bocher Kiesner. He was graduated from Chilton High School with the Class of 1937. He was employed at Chicago for a year and at White Horse Inn, Graysville, Wis., until 1939 when he move to Manitowoc. He married Evelyn F. Lowe June 6, 1942, at First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. He worked at Gordy's Bar, later known as Braunel's Lanes, for 14 years. In 1953, he moved to Reedsville and was employed at Reedsville House. Later in 1953, he moved back to Manitowoc and ran the Lake Park Bar for five years. Since 1959 he had been employed at Imperial Eastman Co., Manitowoc. Mr. Kiesner was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Elks Club, Yacht Club and Sea Gulls Club of Manitowoc. Klein, 14, of 1021 Margaretha St., Two Rivers, died early Tuesday at Bellin Memorial Hospital, Green Bay, after sustaining injuries in an accident at Two Rivers Washington High School Monday afternoon. Funeral services will be at United Methodist Church, Two Rivers. The Rev. Karl F. Koch will officiate and burial will be in Forest View Cemetery. Barry Brice Klein was born at Two Rivers Aug. 1, 1955, a son of Leon and Phyllis Haase Klein. He had attended Magee School and was a freshman at Washington High School. AGNES M. KLINGEISEN Agnes M. Klingeisen, age 80, formerly of Manitowoc, died Wednesday afternoon, October 23, 1991 at the Manitowoc Health Care Center. DONALD P. KOESER Donald P. Koeser, age 78, of 2321 14th St., Two Rivers, currently residing at Hamilton Home, died Saturday, November 23, 1996, at Two Rivers Community Hospital. A Memorial Service will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 1996, at Emanuel United Methodist Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Isidro Carrera. Cremation will have taken place and burial of the cremains will be at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, town of Kossuth. He was born August 28, 1918, in Two Rivers, son of the late Silas and Emma Theide Koeser. Donald was a member of the Army Air Corp serving during World War II. On October 7, 1944, he married the former Kathryn Andrews in Two Rivers, and she preceded him in death November 11, 1996. Donald was a cabinet finisher employed for 40 years at Hamilton Manufac- turing until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the Meister Singers, active in many Emanuel United Methodist Church groups, including choir, quartet and teaching Sunday School. KATHRYN B. KOESER Kathryn B. Koeser, age 76, of 2321 14th St. Two Rivers, died Monday morning, November 11, 1996, at the Hamilton Memorial Home, Two Rivers. She was born April 9, 1920, at Elcho, Wis. daughter of the late Leigh and Beatrice Benninghaus Andrews. She served in the United States Navy as a Wave dur-ing World War II. On October 7, 1944, she married Donald P. Koeser in Two Rivers. She was employed for several years at the Two Rivers Water and Light Department until her retirement. Kathryn was active in many Emanuel United Methodist Church groups including youth activities and the choir. She was a member of the Rachel Circle and served as a Sunday School teacher and church treasurer. Kathryn was also involved with her husband and Walter and Betty Dennis in a group known as The Emanuel Quartette singing at many church and other functions over many years. ESTHER A. MARKUSEN Esther Antonio Caroline Markusen, age 89, a resident of Hamilton Memorial Home, died Thursday, Aug. 31. 2006, at the home as a result of Alzheimers Disease. Esther was born July 19, 1917, in Gillett, daughter of the late Gustav and Rosina (Fuchs) Elbe. On Sept. 29, 1934, she married Selmer Markusen in Mountain. He preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1999. Esther spent many years as an Avon lady and also worked with the Two Rivers School Lunch Program. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and was a past member of the Ladies Evening Society. ANITA V. MARTIN Anita V. Martin, age 77, of Two Rivers, died Thursday morning, February 22, 2001, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am. Saturday, February 24, 2001, at Our Savior Ev. Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Rev. Louis Sievert will officiate with burial at Knollwood Memorial Park, town of Kossuth. Anita was born November 20, 1923, in New London, Wis., daughter of the late Thomas and Viola Knope Hallada. She moved to Two Rivers as a small child and attended Two Rivers Public Schools, graduating from Washington High School with the class of 1942. She was also a graduate of Holy Family School of Nursing in 1946. On August 16, 1947, she married Orville S. Martin, at St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church, in Two Rivers. He preceded her in death on October 15, 1977. She worked in various hospitals during her nursing career, retiring from Two Rivers Community Hospital, in 1986 after 28 years working as an operating room nurse and supervisor. LLOYD HENRY MARTIN Lloyd H. Martin, 58, of 1419 S. 35th St., Manitowoc, died Thursday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. WILLIAM MAUNDER William J. Maunder, 77, of 2321-9th St., Two Rivers, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at the home late Saturday morning. Mr. Maunder was born June 3, 1894, at Hurontown, Mich., son of the late Joseph and Emily Maunder. He moved to Manitowoc in 1935 and was employed at the former Brandt Printing and Binding Co. For five years prior to his retirement in 1961 he was employed at Colorcraft Printers, Manitowoc. He married Jennie R. Richards at Houghton Sept. 4, 1933. She survives him with a number of nieces and nephews. JAMES MCCOY Dr. James O. McCoy, 72, a former meat inspector of Manitowoc and consultant in food and sanitation at Pensacola, Fla., died Tuesday at Pensacola. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Phipps Memorial Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Gervase Zanotti will officiate and burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Kossuth. Dr. McCoy was born Feb. 5, 1900, at Duluth, Minn., son of the late John and Margaret Little McCoy. He was a graduate of the University of Toronto. He married Lillian Hooper April 14, 1926 at Guelph, Ontario, Canada. He was a member of Zor Shrine Temple, Madison and was secretary of the Southeast Veterans Assn. Dr. McCoy, who had conducted a veterinary business at Reedsville, was employed as the first full-time meat inspector for the City of Manitowoc Aug. 15, 1949, and remained in that capacity for more than 10 years, resigning late in December of 1959. He accepted a position in sanitation in Florida, where he lived. ADELINE MCDONALD Adeline “Addie” McDonald age 85, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, formerly of Two Rivers, died of natural causes after a lengthy illness on Friday, Sept. 16, 2005 at the Cedar Falls Healthcare Center. She was born December 19, 1919 in Manitowoc, the daughter of Ernest and Hattie (Hartwig) Holzschuh. She married Eugene “Scotty” McDonald in 1946 at Holy Innocence Catholic Church in Manitowoc He preceded her in death in 0ctober of 1994. Addie was a cook for many years at the M&M Luncheon and worked for 3 years at Hamilton Manufacturing, both in Two Rivers. She was a member of the St. Mark's Catholic Church Ladies Auxiliary, the Senior Citizens of Two Rivers, and the VFW Post 1248 Ladies Auxiliary, all in Two Rivers. HENRY MEYER Henry Meyer, 82, formerly of 709 S. 28th St., Manitowoc, died Monday evening at Park Lawn Nursing Home, Manitowoc. JULIA A. MOTT Mrs. Sam Mott, 71, of Rt. 1, Mishicot, Town of Gibson, died Thursday afternoon at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital. ALFRED J. NAIBERT Alfred J. Naibert, 84 of 3840 Eliason Rd., Route Eight, Sturgeon Bay, formerly of Manitowoc, died Wednesday morning, April 21, at Door County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Naibert was born Sept. 23, 1897 at Renville, Minn., son of the late John and Louise Vales Najbrt. He grew up and attended school at Cadott, Wisc., moving to Manitowoc in 1917. Mr. Naibert was employed at Richter Vinegar Factory and then for Wisconsin Malting Company, retiring in 1962. He moved to Sturgeon Bay where he was employed at Chico Cherry Plant as manager from 1971 to 1981. He married Martha Folletz, Jan. 25, 1919 at Manitowoc. Mr. Naibert was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Sturgeon Bay. Survivors include his wife, Martha: two sons and three daughter-in-laws, and a daughter all from Manitowoc, and a brother from Cadott: two sisters, one from Chippewa Falls and one from Cornell: 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Elmer: two grandchildren, and a brother. LAWRENCE F. NAIBERT Lawrence F. Naibert, age 86, of Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, at his residence. A service of comfort will be held for his family at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc. Burial will follow at the Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Highway 310, Manitowoc. Military graveside rites will be accorded by Otto-Oas VFW Post 659 of Manitowoc. Lawrence was born Nov. 22, 1919, in Manitowoc, son of the late Alfred and Martha Folletz Naibert. On Feb. 15, 1942, Lawrence was married to the former Elaine V. Steffen in Manitowoc. The couple celebrated 53 years of marriage until her death on Dec. 17, 1995. Lawrence was enshrined into the Manitowoc Semi-Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. He played halfback for the Gaels from 1939-1941 and became the team's first equipment manager in 1947. He held that position through the 1952 season and held the same post for the Chiefs until 1960. Lawrence was a World War II Army veteran serving from May 27, 1942, as corporal with the 1107th AAF Base and received the Victory Medal, American Theatre Ribbon and the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon and was honorably discharged on Nov. 23, 1945. He then took employment as a heavy equipment operator for the city of Manitowoc from 1946 until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of Otto-Oas VFW Post 659 of Manitowoc. Lawrence enjoyed making the trip to Cadott, where his grandfather John Najbrt settled after coming from Bohemia. Many family members still reside in Cadott, including a special Aunt Geraldine Najbrt and many cousins. Lawrence's father changed the spelling of the last name from the bohemian spelling of Najbrt to an Americanized version of Naibert. MARION V. NICHOLS Tomah, Wis. — Marion V. Nichols, 76, of Tomah passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, at Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center in Sparta. She was born May 7, 1929, to Herman and May (Weiter) Endries in St. Nazianz, Wis. Marion was united in marriage to Donald Nichols in Manitowoc, Wis., on Sept. 10, 1949. She spent her working years in the healthcare field as a Nurse at Manitowoc County Healthcare Facility. Marion and Donald moved to the Sparta/Tomah area, where they have lived for many years.
