Opal G. Anderson, age 83, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, formerly of Two Rivers, died Thursday, May 18, 2006, at Shady Lane Care Center. David Scherbarth will officiate at the service, with entombment to follow in Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Highway 310, Manitowoc. Opal was born April 11, 1922, at Three Lakes, a daughter of the late William and Edith (Bell) Bonack Sr. She attended grade school and high school in Hiles, and also attended Green Bay Business College for two years. On April 24, 1943, she married Rudolph A. Anderson at Crandon. He preceded her in death May 14, 2001. She was employed at Hamilton Mfg. Co. for many years, where she worked as a product expeditor. Opal was a longtime member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Two Rivers, and the ladies society. She was also a member of the Two Rivers Senior Center, where she volunteered for the “Meals on Wheels” program. She enjoyed arts and crafts, and attending craft shows, reading, dancing, bowling, watching all sports, and working in her flower garden. She is survived by her son; three daughters and one son-in-law; five grand- children. She is further survived by two sisters; two brothers and sisters- in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rudolph A. Anderson, age 83, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, died early Monday morning May 14, 2001 at Shady Lane Home. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday May 17, 2001 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Rev. David Scherbarth will officiate at the service, with entombment to follow in Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, town of Kossuth. Rudolph was born March 3, 1918 in Odanah, Wis., son of the late Berndt and Edna Siegfried Anderson. He attended grade school and high school in Hiles, Wis. He was a veteran of WWII, having served with the U.S. Air Force from Feb. 5, 1941 until Nov. 14, 1945. On April 24, 1943 he was married to Opal Bonack in Crandon, Wis. Prior to entering the military, Rudolph worked as a lumberjack in Michigan for a number of years. After being discharged from service, he became a boiler operator for Foremost Condensery of Mishicot. He retired as a union steward from the condensery in 1975. He was a long time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher, and was a member of the Lutheran Men’s Club. He was an avid reader, fisherman, and gardener. Survivors include his wife, Opal, a resident of Shady Lane Home, one son; three daughters and two sons-in-law, five grandchildren. He is further survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cynthia, and a sister Evelyn Hanson. Darwin D. Andrews, Sr.Darwin D. Andrews Sr., age 72, of Two Rivers, died Tuesday morning, July 21, 1998, at Two Rivers Community Hospital. Darwin was born August 21, 1925, in Elco, Wis., son of the late Leigh and Beatrice Beninghaus Andrews Sr. He attended Washington High School, and then joined the United States Navy in 1943. Darwin served during World War II on PT boats in the South Pacific. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart,and was honorably discharged in 1946. On February 15, 1947, he married the former Ethel Clayton in Two Rivers. Darwin was employed as a tool and die maker at Paragon Electric Company for 29 years, retiring in 1987. He was a charter member of Sports Fishing, Incorporated, served as secretary of the Old Third Ward Gun Club, and was also a member of the Two Rivers V.F.W. Post #1248. Survivors include his wife, Ethel Andrews; three sons and two daughters- in-law; two daughters and sons-in-law; 10 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; five sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. ALFRED E. ASSMANN Alfred E. Assmann, age 83 of 14611 Saxonburg Road, town of Mishicot, was called to his eternal home on Monday, May 1, 2006, at the Northridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc, where he has been a resident for the past month after a two-year courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot, with the Rev. Robert Johannes officiating with entombment to follow in the Knollwood Mausoleum, Highway 310 in Manitowoc. Alfred was born July 28, 1922, in the town of Mishicot to the late Ira and Mary Gesser Assmann, and has been a lifelong area resident. He was baptized into the Christian faith at home on Nov. 2, 1923, and made his promises to his Lord in the rite of confirmation at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church on Dec. 22, 1935 by the late Rev. Edward Zell. He graduated from the eighth grade at Pleasant View Elementary School in the Town of Mishicot on June 6, 1936, and from Mishicot High School on May 24, 1940, where he enjoyed being a four-year member of the high school band. After graduation, he farmed on the homestead farm with his brother, and also was assisted by his late brother, Florian, during the busy season. He farmed his entire working life, and also worked at Hamilton Manufacturing Co. in Two Rivers for a number of years. He enjoyed playing the card game of sheepshead. He is survived by his brother, who resides on the farmstead home; one sister-in-law; one brother-in-law of Manitowoc; his nephews and nieces. He is further survived by his great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother; Florian Assmann; and two sisters; Alice Assmann and Adeline Kobes. Ronald Schneider with entombment at Knollwood Chapel, Town of Kossuth. Mrs. Barbarossa was born July 16, 1896 at Penne, Italy, daughter of the late Nick and Angela Mirgioti Degregorio. Mrs. Barbarossa came to the United States in 1921, settling in the Rockwood area in 1925. She married Paul A. (Patsy) Barbarossa on February 8, 1918, at Penne, Italy. He preceded her in death April 19, 1983. The couple had the honor of celebrating their 65th Wedding Anniversary last year. Mrs. Barbarossa was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Francis Creek. EVELYN BATCHELDER Evelyn G. Batchelder, age 93, of 2411 34th St., Two Rivers, died on Wednesday evening, Dec. 12, 2007, at her residence. She was born on Jan. 4, 1914, in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Walter and Gertrude Becker. Evelyn was a graduate of Washington High School, Two Rivers, with the class of 1931. On June 15, 1935, she married Louis L. Batchelder at St. John's Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. He preceded her in death on July 30, 1998. Evelyn was employed with Mirro Aluminum Company, as a shipping clerk for many years. She was a member of the Two Rivers Senior Center, and a charter member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Edna was born Oct. 21, 1911, in the township of Gibson, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Adolph and Olga Zeman Soukup. She grew up and was educated in the township of Gibson. Edna married Ervin L. Baumann on Oct. 25, 1937, in Manitowoc. After 63 years of marriage, Ervin preceded her in death Dec. 2, 2000. Edna was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. She enjoyed traveling, fishing and camping in the outdoors with Ervin. Survivors include two sisters and one brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends also survive. ERVIN L. BAUMANN Ervin L. Baumann, age 91, a Manitowoc resident died Saturday, December 2, 2000 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. Ervin was born July 23, 1909 in the town of Kossuth, Manitowoc County, son of the late Michael and Anna Steeber Baumann. He grew up and was educated in the town of Kossuth and was employed by Manitowoc Portland Cement Co. for 42 years, retiring in 1975. He married Edna Soukup October 25, 1937 at Manitowoc. They celebrated 63 years together. Ervin was a member of Holy Innocents Parish, the Izaak Walton League and the Manitowoc Rifle and Pistol Club and enjoyed hunting and fishing. The couple owned and operated a farm in the Reedsville area until 1962 when they moved to Two Rivers. Evalyne then worked at Hamilton Industries for a number of years, until her retirement. She was a long time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she participated in the sheepshead marathon and was a member of the Ladies Society of the church. She enjoyed playing dartball in the Cool City league, crocheting and craft work. Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, and a sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. RICHARD BRETHOUWER Richard A. Brethouwer, age 70, of 707 Columbus St., Two Rivers, died Sunday morning, Feb. 11, 2007, at Aurora Medical Center of Manitowoc County. Richard was born Jan. 20, 1937, in Sheboygan, son of the late Raymond and Arline VerGowe Brethouwer. He drove truck for many companies until his death. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany. IRENE M. BREZONI Irene M. Brezoni, age 88, of 3917 S. 18th St. Manitowoc, died Saturday evening, April 9, 2005 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. The former Irene Free was born Oct. 5, 1916 in the town of Newton, daughter of the late William and Lillian Vetter Free. She attended school in the town of Newton and the town of Liberty. On Oct. 3, 1936, she was married to Frank J. Brezoni at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in the town of Liberty. Frank preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 1978. In the past Irene was employed for 33 years at the S.S. Kresge store in Manitowoc. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Manitowoc Senior Center. RAYMOND G. 'BROWNIE' BROWN
Raymond G. ‘Brownie’ Brown, age 86, a Manitowoc resident, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005 at his home. Ray was born Sept. 14, 1918 at Manitowoc, son of the late Edwin C. and Laura (Wienke) Brown. He grew up in the town of Kossuth and graduated from Mishicot High School and the Manitowoc Business College. During World War II, Ray served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945 as a B-24 mechanical instructor at Keesler Field, Miss. It was there that he met and later married Louella Steede on June 21, 1945 at Gulfport, Miss. Louella predeceased Ray in 1984. After the death of his father in 1949, Ray took over the tire and battery business and propelled it into a major auto accessory and auto body parts business known today as Browns of Two Rivers Inc. Ray has been a generous contributor to the Lakeshore area and recently donated property to the First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. He has established a sizeable scholarship foundation at Milwaukee School of Engineering, which presently provides 24 student scholarships per year. He received an honorary doctorate of engineering degree in 1999 and served on the Board of Regents at MSOE. Ray is survived by a brother and sister-in-law; sister-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dolores R. Bruechert, age 77, of Two Rivers, died Sunday, June 8, 2003 at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers, with her family at her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2003 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Edward Stelter, with entombment to follow in Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc. Dolores was born Jan. 5, 1926, in the town of Two Rivers, a daughter of the late Joseph and Sybil (Koller) Levy. She attended schools in Kewaunee, and was a 1944 graduate of Kewaunee High School. On June 14, 1947, she was married to Raymond Bruechert at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. He preceded her in death Aug. 14, 1986. Dolores was employed at Hamilton Industries for many years, retiring in 1986. She enjoyed gardening and always offered to lend a hand to help others in need. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law; two sons; seven grand- children; and six great-grandchildren. She is further survived by four sisters; two brothers and three sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. WINIFRED L. BRUECHERT Winifred L. Bruechert, age 78, a resident of the Village Green West Apartments in Two Rivers, died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 19, 2004, at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot, with the Rev. Robert Johannes officiating with entombment in the Knollwood Mausoleum, Highway 310 in Manitowoc. Winifred was born Aug. 6, 1925, in Two Rivers, to late Fred and Lillian Mandel Vanderbusch and has been a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of tbe Washington High School in Two Rivers, graduating with the class of 1943. She married William 0. Bruechert, and he preceded her in death in 1984. Winifred was employed at Paragon Electric for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot. She enjoyed playing cards and camping at Cedar Valley for many years. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law; three sons and daughters- in-law. She is further survived by nine grandchildren, 11 great-grand- children, four special great-grandchildren, and by her sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. CLARENCE BRUNNER Clarence L. Brunner, age 81, of 808 Schroeder Dr., Manitowoc, died Wednsday evening, July 14, 1999 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 19, 1999 at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Dean Alan Boeldt, with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mauseleum, town of Kossuth. Military Rites will be accorded by the V.F.W. Otto Oas Post #659. He was born Mary 15, 1918, in Duluth, Minn., son of the late Joseph and Ada Ferdon Brunner. Clarence was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II in Europe with the 94th Infantry Division 301 Regiment. On December 1, 1937, he married the former Myrtle Lake, in Minocqua. Clarence was a long time resident of Manitowoc. After leaving the Army Clarence was employed as a Maintenance person for the Government Housing Authority in Custerdale until it closed down. He then worked for the Public Works Department in Manitowoc until his retirement in 1968. Clarence was a life member of Otto Oas Post #659, and served as commander for a period of four times. He was also an Eighth District Commander for two terms and was an All American State Commander serving on many National Committees. Clarence was also a life member of D.A.Y. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) Clarence was preceded in death by one brother, Richard; two brothers-in- law, Harold Seberg, and Gale Anderson one sister-in-law, Jeannette Lake; and his special pal, Benji. Arlene M. Capraro, age 77, of Two Rivers, died unexpectedly early Friday, Jan. 9, 2004 at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers. She attended St. John’s Parochial School and was a graduate of Two Rivers Washington High School. On Jan. 10, 1948 she married Elmer Petrashek in Two Rivers. He preceded her in death May 11, 1977. She then married Paul Capraro on Oct. 19, 1983. Arlene was employed at the Metal Ware Corp. for a short time and later worked at Paragon Electric Co. until her retirement in 1989. She also worked at the M&M Restaurant in Two Rivers. Arlene was an avid reader, loved to walk, and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, canning for her family, and the outdoors. Survivors include her husband: Paul Capraro; four daughters and two sons-in- law, two sons and a daughter-in-law, one stepson, 18 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is further survived by two sisters, two brothers- in-law and four sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. EMIL E. CIGLER Emil E. Cigler, age 77 of Mishicot, was called to his eternal rest Thursday, March 4, 1999, in Hospice at his home. Emil was born on October 11, 1921, in Kellnersville, son of the late Emil F. and Frances (Schleca) Cigler. He married Dorothy Mae Strutz on January 22, 1944. Emil served in the Navy in World War II in the European Theatre. After the war, he sailed the Great Lakes for Reiss Coal Company, worked as telegrapher for the Southern Pacific Railroad and the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad. He was a past member of Railroad telegraphers and train dispatchers, past Grand Knight of Mishicot-Tisch Mills Council 4807 Knights of Columbus. At present he was a member of the Society of American Magicians, International Magicians Society, and member of S.A.M. Assembly of Milwaukee. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two sons, one grandson, one granddaughter one sister, two brothers, one brother-in-law, one brother-in-law. He was preceded in death by one sister, Agnes Baumann, one brother, Jerry Jira; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Cigler; one sister-in-law, Carol Grumann. Winifred D. Coenen, age 74, of Two Rivers, died Thursday afternoon, July 29, 2004, at her residence. Private family services were held on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc. Deacon Phil Andrastek officiated at the service. Cremation has taken place. Winifred was born April 29, 1930, in Two Rivers, a daughter of the late Louis and Elizabeth (Mueller) Loeser. She attended St. John’s Parochial School and Two Rivers Washington High School, graduating with the class of 1948. She was married to Albert E. Klabunde and together the couple had two children. Albert preceded her in death on March 16, 1957. Winifred then married Wesley Coenen on Nov. 9, 1957, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Two Rivers. Her children were then adopted by Wesley, and together the couple had six more children. Winifred and Wesley operated a dairy farm in the town of Two Rivers for many years. She also enjoyed sewing clothes, knitting, and doing crossword puzzles. Survivors include her husband: Wesley; four daughters and three sons-in-law, two sons and a daughter-in-law, 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister. She is further survived by several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. DONALD S. COPESKEY, SR. Donald S. Copeskey, Sr., age 69, of Two Rivers, died Thursday evening at Shady Lane Nursing Home, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2001 at Knollwood Mausoleum Chapel. The Rev. Larry Seidl will officiate and entombment will be at Knollwood Mausoleum. Don was born July 30, 1931 in Two Rivers, the son of Sylvester and Mary Ann Hallada Copeskey. He attended St. Luke Grade School and graduated from Washington High School with the class of 1949. Don was a veteran of the US Navy where he served in the Postal Service. On Jan. 3, 1953 he married Roberta Zusskind at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. He was employed with the US Postal Service as a letter carrier for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion in Two Rivers and served as union president of the NALC. Don enjoyed horseshoes, fishing, gar dening and bowling. Survivors include his wife, Roberta Copeskey of Two Rivers, three sons and two daughter-in-law, seven grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, three sisters and two brothers-in-law. CECELIA R. CZERWONKA Cecelia R. Czerwonka, age 88, a resident of St. Mary’s Home, Manitowoc, formerly of Two Rivers, died early Friday, Jan. 17, 2003 at St. Mary’s Home, after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003 at St. Peter the Fisherman Parish — St. Luke Site, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. William G. O’Brien, with entombment to follow in Knollwood Memorial Park and Chapel Mausoleum, Highway 310, Manitowoc. Cecelia was born Dec. 17, 1914, at Rosholt, Wi., a daughter of the late John and Martha Wanta Dzwonkoski. She attended grade school in Rosholt and was a graduate of, Rosholt High School. In June of 1936, she married William H. Czerwonka in Rosholt, Wi. In 1939, the couple purchased the Clover Farm Store in Rosholt, from Cecelia’s father. The family moved to Two Rivers in 1962, when they purchased the Red Owl Store on Washington Street. In 1969, they built a new Red Owl Food Store, today known as Bill’s Pick ‘N Save, located at 1010 22nd St. The store is currently owned and operated by their son and daughter-in-law. Cele also owned and managed the House of Fabrics Store, located next to the Red Owl Store, for a number of years, until 1978. She then became bookkeeper and Health and Beauty Aides Manager for the Red Owl Store, retiring in 1985. The couple then enjoyed spending the winters at their home in Phoenix, Az., until her illness forced her into nursing home care. She was a longtime member of St. Luke Catholic Church; she was very dedicated to the family owned business, and enjoyed cooking, bird watching and her family. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, two daughters and sons-in-law, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, She is further survived by one sister, one sister-in-law, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, William, on Nov. 16, 1998; a daughter, Carol Silverman; and five brothers and two sisters: Justin, George, Hubert, Felix, Onufry (Fritz), Isabelle, and Sr. Mary Lydia Dzwonkoski. CAROL MAE DEERING Carol Mae Deering, age 81, of Manitowoc, died Saturday morning June 3, 2006, at home with her family at her side. Carol was born on May 18, 1925 in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Oliver and Katherine Cochane Dupuis Lee. She was a graduate of Washington High School in Two Rivers with the class of 1943. On May 14, 1949, Carol married Robert E. Deering at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Two Rivers. Carol was employed at Plantico Drug Store in Two Rivers and then as a seamstress at Globe Laundry in Manitowoc. Prior to her death Carol was co-owner of Clipper City cab and Delivery with her husband Robert. She was past president of the Ladies Elk’s Auxiliary, Manitowoc and the VFW Auxiliary of Two Rivers. Carol was also a member of Sacred Heart Rosary Society and spent many active years as a girl scout leader. Survivors include her husband: Robert E. Deering, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law; three daughters and sons-in-law, six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, one sister, one brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. CLARENCE D. DEGODT Clarence D. DeGodt, age 76, of Two Rivers, died Friday morning, September 6, 1996, at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, 1996, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Rev. Kenneth Dowdy will officiate with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum, where Military Rites will be accorded by members of the Two Rivers V.F.W. and American Legion Posts. He was born September 22, 1919, at Sturgeon Bay, son of the late Elmer and Olga Gunderson DeGodt. Clarence served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II in Italy, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. On August 18, 1945, he married Lenore E. Sperber, in Wisconsin Dells. She preceded him in death on September 29, 1982. Clarence and his wife owned and operated a cherry orchard near Sturgeon Bay. They later moved to Two Rivers where he was employed as a Supervisor at Paragon Electric and Burger Boat Company. He was also involved in real estate. He has spent his retirement as a volunteer at Washington House in Two Rivers and was a rummage sale enthusiast/entrepreneuer, THE Santa at Christmas, and was the smoothest dancer in the county. He was a member of the Two Rivers V.F.W. Post #1248. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, one son, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sister, two brothers, one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, special nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by one son, David; one brother, Norbert. Michael P. Deprey, age 71, of Two Rivers, passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 26, 2004, at his residence with his family at his side, following a long, courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Parish, Holy Redeemer Site, Two Rivers. Mike was born Feb. 14, 1933, in Algoma, son of the late Ms. Frances Deprey and was raised by his aunt and uncle, the late Peter and Adele Deprey, Two Rivers. He attended school in Two Rivers and was a graduate of Washington High School with the class of 1951. Mike was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in Korea from 1952 to 1956. On May 15, 1954, he was united in marriage to LaVerne Hoida at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Mike was employed with the Manitowoc-Two Rivers Herald Times Reporter for 27 years in advertising sales. He later worked for the Two Rivers Senior Center and Estran Corp. before becoming assistant manager of Speedway Gas Station, Two Rivers. He retired from Speedway after its closing in 1996. He was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Parish and past member of the Two Rivers Kiwanis Club. He was financial secretary of the Catholic Order of Forresters and provided lawn care and snow removal services for many neighborhood friends. Charlotte A. Dodge, age 75, of Two Rivers, died unexpectedly Sunday night Nov. 4, 2001 at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, 2001 at St. Mark Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Larry Seidi, with entombment to follow in Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth. Charlotte was born Oct. 4, 1926 in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Edward and Selinde Brocher Colanchick. She attended school in Two Rivers, and graduated from Washington High School with the class of 1944. On Sept. 20, 1947, she married Kenneth E. Dodge at St. Luke Catholic Church. Charlotte was a longtime member of St. Mark Catholic Church, where she was active with the Ladies of St. Luke/St. Mark; a member of the Two Rivers Ladies Elks where she served as call chairperson; member and volunteer of the Two Rivers Historical Society, and was a former Brownie leader. She and Ken were "adopted grandparents" for the first through third-grade students at T.R.C.C.S. for the past three years. Charlotte enjoyed knitting and gardening, and her grandchildren were always precious to her. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family, but will live on in our hearts forever. KENNETH E. DODGE
Kenneth E. Dodge, age 77, of Two Rivers, died Peacefully Friday night, Oct. 3, 2003 at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers, with his family at his side. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday Oct. 8, 2003 at St. Peter the Fisherman Parish, St. Luke Site, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Wm. G. O'Brien, with entombment to follow at the Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the VFW and American Legion Post of Two Rivers. Ken was born April 20, 1926, in Two Rivers, son of the late Orrin & Dorothy (Yelmene) Dodge. He attended St. Mark Catholic School, and was a 1944 graduate of Washington High School, where he was active in numerous sports. From 1944 to 1946, Ken served his country in the United States Army, during World War II, having served in Germany & France. During this period, he also played with the "Blue Devil's Football Team" of the 36th Infantry Division. On Sept. 20, 1947, he married Charlotte A. Colanchick at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. She preceded him in death Nov. 4, 2001. Kenny worked for several years for the Sorge Dairy of Sturgeon Bay, before opening his own service station in Two Rivers, known as "Dodge's Union 76". He owned & operated the station for 30 years, retiring in 1987. Ken served for numerous years on the Two Rivers City Council, of which he was past president; he was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #1957, Two Rivers; and a member of the Two Rivers Historical Society, VFW Post #1248, the Two Rivers Senior Center, and a life-long member of St. Mark's Catholic Parish. He was also a 40-year, past member of the Two Rivers Elk's Lodge #1380, and the Two Rivers Kiwanis Club. For many years, Charlotte & Ken were "adopted grandparents" for students of TRCCS. Kenny enjoyed boating, fishing, and many years at their trailer at Chaudoir's Dock. He also enjoyed his vegetable garden, and was an avid Packer Fan. EDWARD J. DORNAUS Edward J. Dornaus, age 93, of 3114 Lindbergh Drive, Manitowoc, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at his residence. Edward was born April 6, 1914, in Manitowoc, son of the late Frank and Rosalia (Kolhbeck) Dornaus. He was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On May 1, 1943, he married (Peggy) Margaret Wishart in De Pere. She preceded him in death on Nov. 18, 1992. Edward was employed as a machinist and shop supervisor at Kaufman Manufacturing of Manitowoc for many years. He especially enjoyed company parties after his retirement, where he became the oldest retiree of Kaufman's. Edward was a charter member of St. Paul's Parish. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his brothers and nephews and was a member of several conservation groups. In his later years, he joined the Manitowoc Elks Lodge #687 and became an avid golfer, enjoying league play and charity events. Edward was a devoted supporter of Holy Family Memorial Hospital, where his sister Anna worked for many years, and where he and his wife received excellent medical care. Edward loved to play cards — Canasta with his in-laws, Sheepshead with his brothers and extended family, partnering his wife in Bridge, a weekly game with the gents, or a daily Cribbage game with Norman Johnson (Edward was ahead). (Survivors omitted for privacy.) He was preceded in death by his sisters: Anna Jackl (Sister Martin Tours), Theresa Ryder and Rosemary Ording; and his brothers: Harold Jackl, Reinhart and Robert. Special thanks to those whose combined devotion enabled him to continue living in his home until the end. After his retirement from Kaufman, Edward took on the care of his wife and mother-in-law, learning cooking and housekeeping after his many years as breadwinner for his family. ALDEN J. DRAB Alden J. Drab, age 75, of Two Rivers, died Thursday morning, July 17, 1997, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 21, 1997, at Klein and Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and 10 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Rev. Larry Seidl will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum. He was born June 18, 1922, at Norman, Kewaunee County, son of the late Joseph F. and Mary Walecka Drab. On June 24, 1944, he married Marcella Zellner at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mishicot. The couple celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1994. Al was employed at GTE for 39 years serving in Seymour, Plymouth, Denmark and Two Rivers, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the men of St. Luke, the Two Rivers Senior Center, and was a former member of the Two Rivers Kiwanis Club. MARGARET E. DRUMM Margaret E. Drumm, age 79, of Valders, died early Thursday morning, June 15, 2006, at her daughter’s residence in rural Valders. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church. Revs. Robert Kujawski and Stephen Melso will officiate with entombment to follow at the Knollwood Mausoleum, Highway 310, Manitowoc. The former Margaret Wopp was born June 16, 1926, in Milwaukee, daughter of the late William and Charlotte Puchalski Wopp. In 1945 Margaret worked for the federal government in Washington, D.C., at the Pentagon and later returned home to help her family in the family bakery, Bill’s Home Bakery in Valders. On Jan. 15, 1949, she was married to William E. Drumm at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. The couple farmed in the town of Manitowoc Rapids until their retirement in 1990. Bill preceded Margaret in death on Aug. 10, 2000. Margaret was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, and Ant Hill Motorcycle Club, and the Midwest Old Thrashers. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, going to old tractor and gas engine shows, she loved to bake for everybody and was an avid reader. Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, one daughter and son-in-law, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, three step-great- grandchildren,one brother and sister-in-law, two sisters, one sister-in-law, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by one brother: John Paul Wopp; and three brothers-in-law: Robert Price; Richard Drumm; and Gerald Drumm. PAUL DURUZ Col. Paul B. Duruz, retired U.S. Army, age 87, of 1830 S. 18th St., No. 30, Manitowoc, died on Thursday morning, Dec. 20, 2007, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Paul was born on Nov. 24, 1920, in Sacramento, Calif., son of the late Bernard H. and Marie C. (Gastieger) Rogers. He attended Corvallis High School in Corvallis, Ore., and graduated with the class of 1938. Paul then attended Oregon State College and was commissioned as 2nd Lt. Infantry from ROTC at Oregon State College. He served in the 44th Infantry Division during WWII. On Jan. 23, 1946, he married the former Alice Zagrodnik in Manitowoc. In 1947, Paul graduated from Oregon State College with a Bachelor of Science degree. He then attended and graduated from Teachers College in 1957 and later graduated from Columbia University with a Master of Arts degree. In 1949, Paul was integrated into regular Army Military Police and served as provost marshal, U.S.A., in the Southern European Task Force, Italy, and II Field Force, Vietnam. Paul was assistant commandant for the U.S.A. Military Police School and was on the Professional Staff of the President's Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Justice. Paul retired from the U.S. Army in 1970 as a colonel. Following his military career, Paul was employed as a management consultant for Cresop, McCormick and Paget from 1970 to 1972. He then was appointed administrator of staff and faculty for Montgomery College, Rockville, Md., until his retirement in 1985. Some of the cities that Paul and Alice have called home during his career include: Davis, Calif.; Corvallis, Ore.; Brake and Esslingen, Germany; Albuquerque, N.M.; DeLand, Fla.; Augusta, Ga.; Munich, Germany; Verona, Italy; Washington, D.C.; and Chevy Chase, Md. Paul and his wife Alice then moved to Manitowoc following his retirement, where he served on the Citizens Advisory Committee, and one year as chairman for the senior advisory council, Seniors and Law Enforcement Together. He is a member of the Retired Officers Association; the International Association of Chiefs of Police; the American Legion; Kiwanis in DeLand, Fla., and Rockville, Md.; and as past president of the Golden K of Manitowoc. Paul was also a member of the Fraternal Delta Tau Delta College social fraternity. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) CAROLINE DVORACHEK Caroline M. Dvorachek, age 89, of North Ridge Care Center, Manitowoc, formerly of Reedsville, died on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at Aurora BayCare in Green Bay. She was born on Dec. 3, 1918, in the town of Maple Grove, daughter of the late Joseph and Clara (Ecker) Schuh. On Sept. 16, 1941, she married Adolph Dvorachek in Reedsville. Caroline was a life-long member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Reedsville, where she played the organ, and served as librarian for St. Mary School. She was a member of Holy Family Parish in Brillion, the St. Anne's Society, and the Reedsville American Legion Auxiliary. She also loved quilting and sewing. (Survivors omitted for privacy.) She was preceded in death by her husband: Adolph; a grandson: Mike Noskowiak; a great-great-granddaughter; four brothers and a sister-in-law: William (Josephine) Schuh, Frank Schuh, Louie Schuh and Ray Schuh.
