YVONNE LUTZKE AUTO CRASH KILLS AREA STEWARDESS A car-truck crash on an icy Texas overpass claimed the life early today of a St. Nazianz area woman who has spent nearly six years as an airline stewardess. Killed at Denton, Tex., were Yvonne Lutzke, 25, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Lutzke, R. 1, Kiel, and Miss Delores Watson, 28, California. Both girls were stewardesses with American Flyers Airline, a supplemental carrier based in Fort Worth. Mrs. Lutzke was a grand-daughter of Mrs. George Wick of 1907 S. 14th St. in Sheboygan. Authorities at Denton, Tex., about 20 miles north of Dallas, said that the accident happened in northwest Denton where Interstate 35E passes over Texas Highway 24. Both vehicles plunged 25 feet down an embankment after the collision. Also in the automobile and hospitalized in fair condition was Linda Brignole, 22, of Torrington, Conn. The truck driver, Carl Cuningham, 25, Oklahoma City, was treated at the hospital and released. Officers said the car containing the three young women, which was traveling north on the Interstate skidded across the median. Miss Lutzke, a graduate of St. Gregory High School at St. Nazianz, had been with American Flyers Airline nearly five years. Prior to that she had spent six months as a stewardess with Braniff International Airline. She had spent Christmas with her parents who operate a mink ranch about two miles south of St. Nazianz at the intersection of Manitowoc County Trunks A and F. Mr. and Mrs. Lutzke spent a vacation in Nassau last month and their daughter had taken a leave of absence from her airline job to spend a week with them. After graduating from St. Gregory High School, Miss Lutzke attended Alverno College in Milwaukee before taking the stewardess job. Her father told The Press this noon that he had been notified of the accident by an official of the airline. Mr. Lutzke said it was his understanding that the three young women were returning to Ardmore, Okla., their headquarters, from Dallas. Ardmore is about 70 miles north of Dallas just north of the Texas-Oklahoma line. The accident occurred about 4:45 a.m. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Christianson Funeral Home, St. Nazianz. Surviving Miss Lutzke, in addition to her parents, are two brothers, Wayne and Steven, both at home; three sisters, Mrs. Paul (Dianne) Krush, West Allis, and Mary and Renee, both at home; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Koeppen, R. 2, Kiel, and her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Edvina Wick, Sheboygan.
