GEORGE BOSMA Funeral services for George Bosma, 86, of 1045 First Street, Kiel, a retired Town of Eaton farmer who died Saturday day in Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, were held Tuesday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. Officiating was the Reverend John F. Baumann, pastor, and the Reverend James Corbly, associate, of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel. Burial was in Eaton Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Mr. Bosma’s name. A native of the Town of Eaton, he was born June 8, 1889, a son of the late Sent and Anna Sievers Bosma. He attended district school in Eaton. On May 19, 1914 he married Frieda Brocker in Kiel. Following marriage the couple operated the Bosma home farm, retiring and moving to Kiel in 1968. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in May 1964. Mr. Bosma was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ and a former treasurer of Elder Grove School and Eaton Cemetery Board. Survivors are his widow; a daughter, a son, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Anita Pohl of Sheboygan Falls. - July 6, 1975

BERTHA BROCKER A combined funeral service for Miss Bertha Brocker, 80, of Route 4, Chilton, who died Saturday, and her brother-in-law, William Koepp, who died last Thursday, was held Monday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home. Reverend John F. Baumann of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ officiated. Miss Brocker was born in the Town of Eaton, a daughter of the late Paul and Christina Brocker. She made her home with her sister, Mrs. William Koepp. Her sister survives. Burial was in the Eaton Cemetery.
CHARLES BROCKER Carl Brocker, aged 87, passed away at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Sievert, at 4:45 p. m. on Wednesday, March 10, after a short illness. Mr. Brocker was born November 23, 1855, in Manitowoc, the son of John and Wiihelmina Brocker. At an early age he moved with his parents to a farm in the town of Eaton, and on October 20, 1876, he took as his bride Miss Elizabeth Lechler of that township. Following their marriage, the couple resided on a farm near Chilton for a number of years and later lived in the towns of Eaton and Schleswig. In 1920 he disposed of his farm to his son, Arthur, and moved to this city, where his wife died May 15, 1929. Mr. Brocker is survived by seven children, namely: Mrs. Edward (Christina) Boeselager, Mrs. Martha Boeselager, Arthur Brocker, and Mrs. Herman (Edna) Sievert of here; Mrs. Louis (Alvina) Haese of Reedsville; Mrs. George (Frieda) Bosma and Fred Brocker of the town of Eaton; 22 grand-children, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Mrs. Bertha Preuss of Hilbert and Mrs. Emma Brocker of Norfolk, Nebraska. A daughter, Mrs. Mary Schroeder, and a son, Edwin, preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock with the Rev. E. L. Worthman officating. Burial was made in the Town Eaton cemetery.
CHRISTINA BROCKER Funeral services for the late Mrs. Paul Brocker, of the town of Eaton were held Saturday afternoon, officiated by Rev. Wm. Shclei of Collins. Burial was made in the Eaton cemetery. Mrs. Broker, nee Tena Kurz, was born in Germany on January 8, 1866, and was brought to the United States with her parents at the age of 8 years. The family settled in the town of Chilton. At the age of 19 years she married Mr. Brocker. They have been residents of the town of Eaton for 41 years. Several weeks ago Mrs. Broker was taken ill with pneumonia from which she never recovered. Heart failure was the immediate cause of her death, which occurred last Wednesday evening at 10 o’clock. The survivors are her husband; five children, Mrs. Andrew Zeiner of Meggers, Mrs. Ed Sievert of Schleswig, Mrs. Wm. EDWIN BROCKER Edwin Broecker(sic), son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Broecker, St. Paul st., passed away on Monday morning at 2 o'clock at the home of his parents, after being ill with pneumonia. Deceased was born Feb. 22, 1892 in the town of Eaton, Manitowoc county. He was raised and reared on his father's farm. For some time he followed the mason trade. After that he worked for his brother, Arthur, on the farm. Last November he came to Kiel to live with his parents. He was in poor health all winter. Mr. Broecker leaves to mourn his untimely death, his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Broecker, two brothers, Frederick of Eaton and Arthur of Meggers, and six sisters, Mrs. Rud. Schroeder of New Holstein, Mrs. Ed. Boeselager of Kiel, Mrs. Louis Hasee of Reedsville, Mrs. August Boeselager of Kohler, Mrs. George Bosma of Eaton, and Mrs. Herman Sievert of Schleswig. The funeral will take place Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence of the parents. Burial at the Union cemetery in the town of Eaton. Rev. Saewert of the Reformed church of Plymouth will officiate. 1925
ELIZABETH BROCKER Funeral services for Mrs. Carl Brocker, who died as a result of heart trouble at her home in this city Wednesday morning of last week, were held from the home at 2 o'clock and from the Reformed church on Saturday afternoon at 2:30. Burial was made in the Eaton cemetery, with the Rev. Otto Saewert conducting the rites. Mrs. Brocker, nee Elizabeth Lechler, was born January 19, 1856 in Manitowoc, and was married to Carl Brocker on October 20, 1876. The couple then moved to Chilton, then to Eaton, and in 1921 came to this city. Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her death the following children: Mrs. Rudolph Schroeder of New Holstein; Mrs. E. Boeselager of Kiel, Mrs. Louis Haese of Reedsville, Mrs. George Bosma of Eaton, Mrs. Herman Sievert of Schleswig; and Fred and Arthur Brocker. One son Edwin passed away in 1925. Two brothers, Ferdinand and Christian Lechler of near Kiel, one sister, Mrs. Emilia Westphal, 20 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren also survive. FRIEDERICK BROCKER Frederick C. Brocker, 82, of 903 6th St., Kiel, died at 4:30 a.m. today at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Milton C. Brocker, R. 1, New Holstein. He had been making his home there since his illness three weeks ago. Born Sept. 21, 1881, in the Town of Chilton, the son of the late Charles and Elisabeth Brocker, the family later moved to the Town of Eaton. He was married Oct. 14, 1904, to Ida Bosma of the Town of Eaton. They operated a farm in that township for 39 years before retiring in 1943 and moving to Kiel. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary in October, 1945. Mrs. Brocker died in May, 1956. Mr. Brocker was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Kiel. Besides his son, Milton, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Alfon Rabe of R. 1, Kiel, and Mrs. Lorena Ruh of Valders; 15 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. George Bosma of R. 1, Kiel, and Mrs. Herman Sievert of Kiel. IDA BROCKER Mrs. Fred Brocker, 69, of 903 6th St., Kiel died at 11:45 p.m. Saturday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Alfon Rabe of R. 1, Kiel. Nee Ida Bosma, she was born in the town of Eaton on March 29, 1887 a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sent Bosma. She was married to Mr. Brocker Oct. 14, 1904 and lived on a farm in the town of Eaton until 1943 when the couple retired and moved to Kiel. She was a charter member of the Eaton Ladies Aid Society and a member of the Women’s Guild of St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed Church of Kiel and of the Kiel Frauenverein. Mr. and Mrs. Brocker celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in October of 1954. Survivors include her husband, a son Milton of New Holstein, two daughters, Mrs. Alfon (Oliva) Rabe of R. 1, Kiel and Mrs. Jacob (Lorena) Ruh of rural Manitowoc, 14 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three brothers, Alfred Bosma of New Holstein, George of R. 1, Kiel and Harry of R. 2, Sheboygan, and two sisters, Mrs. John Spettel of Kiel and Mrs. Edwin Pohl of Sheboygan Falls. PAUL BROCKER Paul Brocker of Gravesville Passes Away After Illness Chilton – Paul Brocker, aged 76, retired farmer, died at 9 a.m. Friday at his home at Gravesville, after having been ill for a week. Mr. Brocker was born at Eaton, in Manitowoc county and was married there to Christina Kurtz, who died May 25, 1927. Mr. Brocker was a farmer in Manitowoc county practically all his life. Seven years ago he returned and moved to Gravesville. Survivors are: A son, George, Town of Eaton, Manitowoc county; four daughters, Bertha, at home; Mrs. Andrew Zeiner and Mrs. Edmund Seivert, both of Town Schleswig and Mrs. William Koepp of Charlestown, Calumet county; two brothers, Ewald of Chilton and Charles of Kiel; two sisters, Mrs. Rudolph Pruess, New Holstein and Mrs. Louis Broker, Norfolk, Neb., and three grandchildren. EDWARD DOMKE Edward P. Domke, 81, of Route 2, Hilbert, retired Town New Holstein farmer, died Wednesday morning at Bellin Memorial Hospital at Green Bay. Born May 27, 1876, in Cook County, Ill., the son of Frank and Caroline Domke, he spent his early life there and at the age of 19 came to Calumet County. On Feb. 15, 1901, he was married to Katherine Stueven of Town Eaton, Manitowoc County, and they farmed until 1942 when they moved to the present home at Route 2, Hilbert. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1951 and Mrs. Domke passed away Jan. 14, 1956. Mr. Domke was one of the organizers of the Schleswig Telephone Co. and served as president and general manager of the company for a time. At the time of his death he was a member of the Eaton cemetery board. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Sam (Angela) Huebner of Forest Junction; a son, Howard, of New Holstein; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and a brother, Paul, of Danville, Calif. KATIE DOMKE Mrs. Edward Domke Rites Held Here Tuesday Mrs. Edward P. Domke, 75, died at Bellin hospital, Green Bay, Saturday. She was a resident of Hilbert for the past 14 years, but had lived in this vicinity prior to that. Funeral services were held at the Meiselwitz Funeral home here on Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. E.L. Worthman in charge. Burial was in the Eaton cemetery. Survivors are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. S.A. Huebner, Forest Junction; a son, Howard, New Holstein; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Lena Matter, Milwaukee. NORRIS DOMKE Following an illness of several years’ duration, Norris Domke, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Domke of near Meggers, passed away at the home of his parents at 3:30 Saturday morning. Cause of his death was diabetes. He had attended the Meggers district school, and the Kiel high school for two years, but was forced to discontinue his studies because of his health. He was born in Charlestown February 13, 1914 and death occurred on his birthday. He is survived by his parents, one brother Howard of here, and a sister, Miss Angela, who teaches school in Forest junction. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon from the home and at 2 o’clock at the First Presbyterian church, the Rev. J. W. MacElree officiating. Two hymns, “No Night There,” and “The Mercy Seed,” were sung by a sextet consisting of Mrs. E. M. Duecker, Mrs. Henry Meiselwitz, Mrs. Roy Nelson, Mrs. H. C. Mesch, Mrs. M. C. Timm, and Mrs. Hugo Neumann. Honorary pallbearers were Clarence Manz, Earl Voland, Bobbie Bahr, Walter Jaeger, and Eugene and Daniel Nauth. Active pallbearers were cousins of the deceased - Herbert and Louis Mattes, Frederick Rosenbauer, Martin Juno, Wilbert Weber and Fred Holm. Interment was in the Eaton cemetery. WILHELMINA FABER Called By Death. Mrs. Wilhelmina Faber, nee Tagge, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jos. Klein at Brillion on Thursday of last week of heart failure, after a lingering illness. She was born in the Town of Eaton, Oct. 17, 1857, and was married there to Hy. Faber in May of 1878. The couple lived on a farm in Eaton for many years, where Mr. Faber died in 1910. Two years later Mrs. Faber moved to Kiel, where she has since resided with the exception of a short time preceding her death. Five weeks ago she came from the Fred. Greve home near New Holstein to Kiel, to the home of her son, and a few days later she was taken to Brillion, where she was ill for four weeks. The survivors include one son, Arthur Faber of this city and three daughters, Mrs. Eugene Klopfer of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Jos. Klein of Brillion, and Mrs. Fred. Greve of New Holstein; one brother Henry Tagge, and two sisters, Mrs. Doris Eberhart of Cordova, Maryland, and Mrs. Anna McAdams of Racine; also 10 grandchildren. EDGAR FLUHR Edgar P. Fluhr Dies at His Home After an Illness Kiel – Edgar P. Fluhr, aged 44, died at his farm home five miles north of here at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, following a brief illness. Mr. Fluhr was born August 7, 1887, on a farm in the Town of Schleswig where he grew to manhood. On Sept. 6, 1916, he was married to Miss Emma Mahloch of Collins and the couple located on the Philip Fluhr homestead where they made their permanent home. Survivors are: his wife and three children, Elroy aged 14, Eugene, 12, and Marie, 4; his father, Philip Fluhr of Kiel; three sisters, Mrs. H. E. Mitchell, Baudette, Minn., Mrs. J. G. Jirikowic, Kaukauna, and Miss Ruby Fluhr of Kiel; two brothers, Walter of Meggers, and Arno of Walla Walla, Washington. Funeral services will be conducted at the Fluhr homestead Monday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock and at 2 o’clock at St. Peter’s Reformed church at Kiel. The Rev. E. L. Kiel Oldest Resident Dies Sunday at Age of 99 Many local people were grieved to learn of the death of “Grandpa” Fluhr, as they had hoped he would be able to fulfill his wish, that of living to reach the hundred mark. Frederick Fluhr, aged 99 years, and the oldest resident of the city, passed away Friday morning of last week shortly after 9 o’clock, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Henschel. Mr. Fluhr had been ill for several days. The venerable old man enjoyed perfect health all his life. He was born in Bibelheim, Germany on January 18, 1844, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Fluhr. He was married to Miss Catherine Balz of the town of Schleswig in 1875, and they located on a farm in that township. In 1907 they moved to Kiel and Mrs. Fluhr passed away in 1933. Since the death of his wife, Mr. Fluhr has made his home with his daughter. Mr. Fluhr is survived by eight children, namely: Mrs. Robert (Helena) Feile of Reedsville, Mrs. John (Henrietta) Henschel of this city, Mrs. W. L. (Alma) Horn of Valders, Mrs. William (Linda) Kriegelstein of Milwaukee, Mrs. Melvin (Norma) Gerlach of Princeton, John of Chilton, Edwin of here, and Arthur of New Holstein; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother, Philip of this city. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, and at 2 o’clock services were conducted at the St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed church, with the Rev. E. L. Worthman officiating. Burial was made in the Eaton cemetery. Out-of-town people attending the funeral included the following cousins of the deceased: Mr. and Mrs. Philip Reichert, Mrs. Henry Helgeman and son Armin of Stratford, and many relatives and friends from New Holstein, Chilton, Malone, Plymouth, Elkhart Lake, Chicago, Milwaukee, Oshkosh and Kaukauna. HULDA FLUHR Mrs. Hulda Fluhr, 84, a former Town of Schleswig and Kiel resident, widow of Walter, died Thursday at Family Heritage Nursing Home in Manitowoc where she had resided four years. The former Hulda Libke was born Jan. 31, 1890 in the Town of New Holstein, the daughter of the late Henry and Anna Struck Libke. She attended district school in the area. On June 6, 1912, she married Mr. Fluhr in the Town of New Holstein. The couple farmed in the Town of Schleswig until 1943 when they moved to Kiel. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in June, 1962. Her husband died Aug. 6, 1970. Mrs. Fluhr was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ at Kiel, its Women’s Guild, Thrifty Twelve Homemakers and Eaton Ladies Aid Society. Survivors are two sons, Eldon of rural Kiel and Orville of rural New Holstein; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a brother, Hugo Libke, New Holstein. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, the Rev. John F. Baumann, pastor of St. Peter UCC officiating. Burial will be in Eaton Cemetery. KATHERINE FLUHR Aged Resident Dies On Sunday Mrs. Frederick Fluhr is Called After Long Illness; Rites Wednesday Mrs. Frederick Fluhr, aged 74, passed away at 11:10 Sunday morning at her home at 625 St. Paul street, after a lingering illness of eight months. The deceased, nee Katherine Balz, was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Caroline Balz, and was born in White Haven, Luzern county, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburg, on October 7, 1857. At the age of three years she came to Wisconsin with her parents, who settled on a farm in the town of Schleswig, where she grew to womanhood. On June 17, 1875, she was united in marriage to Frederick Fluhr, also a residant of the town of Schleswig. The couple located on a farm near Meggers, on which they resided for 33 years. In 1908 they sold the farm to Albert Lulloff and came to Kiel to live. They have lived at the present home ever since coming to this city. Ten children were born to the couple, of whom two daughters died in their infancy. Surviving her besides her husband are the following children: Mrs. Robert (Helen) Feile of Reedsville; Mrs. John (Henrietta) Henschel, Mrs. Alma Gessert, Kiel; Mrs. William (Linda) Krieglstein and Mrs. Melvin (Norma) Gerlach, Milwaukee; Edwin of here; Arthur of New Holstein; and John of Chilton, There are also 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Two sisters, Pezoldt of this city, and two brothers, Mrs John Boege and Mrs. Charles Nicholas of Rockville and John of here also survive. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:30 at the residence, with services at the St. Peter Reformed church at 2 o’clock. The Rev. E. L. Worthman performed the last rites. Burial was in the family lot at the Eaton cemetery. The following grandsons of the deceased acted as pallbearers: Hugo Feile, Frederick Gerlach, and Willis, Howard, Clarence and Gilbert Fluhr. The St. Peter Reformed church Frauenverein, of which she was a member, attended the funeral in a body. - July 7, 1932
MARY FLUHR Mary (Danke) Fluhr The angel of death claimed Mrs. Philip Fluhr on Saturday morning, after a long illness with pernicious anemia. The funeral sevices were conducted on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Fluhr residence, by Rev. J. W. MacElree, and burial was made in the Eaton cemetery. The deceased, nee Mary Danke, aged 61 years, was born in Rochester, N.Y., on Sept. 15, 1865, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Danke. When she was four years old the family moved to Wisconsin. Her marriage to Philip Fluhr took place on October 23, 1885, at which time the couple took up their residence on a farm in the town of Schleswig. Ten years ago they moved to Kiel, and the homestead was taken over by their son Edgar. ORVILLE W. FLUHR Orville W. Fluhr, 81, of 10615 Meggers Road, New Holstein, died Sunday morning, April 28, 2002 at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center,New Holstein after a brief illness. He was born September 12, 1920 in the Town of Schleswig, son of the lateWalter and Hulda Libke Fluhr. He was a 1938 graduate of Kiel High School. On November 22, 1941 he married Leora Sievert at St. Peters United Church of Christ, Kiel. Orville worked for a number of years at Tecumseh Products, New Holstein and farmed the family homestead all his life until retirement. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel, and was a member of the Kiel Municipal Band for a number of years. He enjoyed playing cards, woodworking and gardening. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Leora; two children, four grand- children, one great grandson, one brother, brother and sister-in-law, and nieces and nephews. PHILIP FLUHR Philip Fluhr Summoned; Buried In Eaton Cemetery Philip Fluhr, aged 82, passed away at his home last Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock, following a four months’ illness. The deceased was born in Biebelheim, Hessen Darmstedt, Germany, on April 12, 1862, the son of the late Philip and Elizabeth Weich-Fluhr. He came to this country with his parents when he was 4 years old, and the family located on the homestead farm in the town of Schleswig. On October 23, 1885, he was united in holy wedlock with Mary Danke of Rochester, New York. The couple continued to live in the town of Schleswig. In 1917 they sold the farm to their son and moved to the present home in this city. His wife died February 5, 1927, and a son, Edgar, died June 16, 1932, and a daughter, Mrs. Edna Jirikowic on October 23, 1938. Survivors are four children, Walter of this city, Arno of Walla Walla, Washington, Mrs. Frieda Mitchell and Miss Ruby at home, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, with the Rev. R. E. Dreger of the First Presbyterian church officiating. Burial was made in the family lot in the town of Eaton cemetery. Pallbearers were Arthur Fluhr, Edwin Fluhr, John Fluhr, Philip Reichert, Walter Roeber and Emanuel Geier. WALTER FLUHR Walter R. Fluhr, 83, of 506 North St., Kiel, died early today at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital following an illness of three months. Born on Aug. 26, 1886 in the Town of Schleswig, he was a son of the late Phillip and Mary Danke Fluhr. He attended district school. On June 6, 1912 he married the former Hulda Libke of the Town of New Holstein. The couple located on a farm in Schleswig until 1943 when they moved to Kiel. He was employed at the Tri-County Co-op and A. A. Laun Furniture Co., retiring 15 years ago. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1962. He was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Eldon, of rural Kiel and Orville of rural New Holstein; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Frieda Mitchell of Kiel, and one brother, Arno of Walla Walla, Wash. LOUISA GAU Mrs. Louisa Gau Dies at Home of Son Here Today Kiel – Mrs. Louisa Gau, 87, need Kreimann, widow of the late Herman Gau, passed away at the home of her son, Norman, in Sheboygan this morning at 12:45 a.m., following a several days’ illness. She had been visiting her son. She was born in town of Schleswig on March 30, 1865. Her first marriage was to Fred Geichert of Rhine in 1882, and he died in 1885. In 1887 she was married to Herman Gau, Schleswig and he passed away in 1907. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Fred Boeselager, Hilbert; Mrs. Herbert Lechler, town of Eaton; Hugo, town of Eaton, and Norman, Sheboygan; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister, both of New Holstein, Ferdinand Kreimann and Mrs. Bertha Hajeugo. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 2 o’clock in the Meiselwitz Funeral home in Kiel. Interment will be in the Town of Eaton cemetery. The Rev. A. RENOLA GAU Mrs. Hugo Gau, 79, of R. 1, Kiel, died Wednesday night at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient 10 days. The former Renola Shell was born Jan. 11, 1892 in Parrott, Ga., daughter of the late Wesley and Bettie Smith Shell. She later moved to Grand Rapids, Mich. where she was married to Andrew Bosma of New Holstein. They lived in New Holstein until his death in 1934. On Dec. 7, 1937, she married Mr. Gau of the Town of Eaton (Manitowoc County). They lived on the Gau homestead farm. Survivors are her husband; three daughters, two step~daughters, a stepson, 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, with the Rev. Allen L. Bowe, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. WILHELMINE GAU Sudden Death - An Old Lady Dies While Visiting in the Town of Chilton On Friday afternoon, Mrs. Wilhelmina Gau, an old lady who was visiting at the home of Nic Buettner in the town of Chilton, died suddenly. The cause of her death was internal hemorrhage. Mrs. Gau is a resident of the town of Schleswig, Manitowoc County, and some two weeks ago she came to visit the family of Mr. Buettner. She ate dinner with the family at noon and was apparently in good health. After dinner Mr. B. went out in the field to work and his son left for the woods. Between four and five o’clock, the boy returned to the house and found the old lady sitting in a chair dead. He called his father and neighbor and immediately sent word to this city to the authorities. An inquest was held on the remains and a verdict rendered that the deceased came to her death from internal hemorrhage. The deceased was born in Germany in 1826. She came to America thirty-five years ago and for the past 22 years has been a resident of Schleswig. Her son Herman, who resides in Schleswig was immediately notified of the death and he came Saturday to convey the remains to his home. The funeral took place on Sunday, the remains being taken to the town of Eaton, Manitowoc County for burial. Chilton Times, August 23, 1890
FRANCISKA GRAF Funeral Services for Mrs. Fred Graf Held at St. John's Reformed Church New Holstein - Funeral services for the late Mrs. Fred Graf, nee Francisco Moser, who died Tuesday evening at 8:15 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Hansen here, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's Reformed church. Rev. A. C. Plappert conducted the services and interment was made in the Eaton cemetery. Mrs. Graf was born in Buffalo, New York, on September 13, 1853. When a child she came to the town of Rhine with her parents and in 1871 was united in marriage to Fred Graf. The couple lived on a farm in the town of Rhine for two years, after which they purchased a farm in the town of Eaton which was later sold to their son, Herbert. From Eaton they moved to a small homestead at Meggers Corners. Mr. Graf preceded his wife in death three years ago, after which she made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Alfred Oesau, of Kiel. In April of this year, Mrs. Graf visited at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Hansen and while there became seriously ill. She had suffered several strokes with complications and death resulted on Tuesday evening. The survivors are four sons, Fred Graf, of Jacksonville, Florida; John, of Milwaukee; Herbert, on the homestead, and Waldo, of Collins; two daughters, Mrs. Walter Hanson, of New Holstein, and Mrs. Alfred Oesau, of Kiel; thirty grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Four sisters, Mrs. Agnes Drake, of Brookfield; Mrs. Ricka Lutz, of Marshfield; Mrs. Sophia Hilgers, of Dallas, Texas, and Miss Minnie Moser, of Pasadena, Cal., also survive. HERBERT GRAF Herbert Graf, 69, a native of the Town of Eaton (Manitowoc County), died suddenly the past Sunday in Los Angeles. ROSE GRAF Dies From Injuries in Auto Crash New Holstein Woman Dies at Plymouth Early Today Accident Occurred on Sunday Evening Mrs. Herbert Graf Fails to Regain Consciousness and Passes Away as Result of Fractured Skull Sustained in Collision Sunday on Highway 57, a Short Distance from Highway 23 Intersection New Holstein - Without regaining consciousness since her skull was fractured in an auto accident near Plymouth Sunday evening, Mrs. Herbert Graf, 36, died at the Plymouth hospital at 9:30 a.m. today. Occasionally during the past three days she aroused sufficiently from her coma to ask "Where am I?" but her condition rapidly became weaker and she died this morning while members of her family still held hopes for her recovery. Relatives Here Mrs. Graf was a cousin of John and Frank Sell of Sell Brothers store in Sheboygan. Her maiden name was Rose Louise Sell and she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Juergen Sell. The accident which resulted in Mrs. Graf's death occurred on Highway 57 a short distance south of the Highway 23 intersection Sunday evening. The car driven by Mr. Graf collided with a car driven by Harry Steedeman, of Milwaukee. In the car with Mr. and Mrs. Graf were their two sons, Lloyd and Trumann, and Mrs. Alfred Oesau and children, Joan and Gladys, of Kiel. They were returning to their homes after visiting relatives in Milwaukee. Mrs. Graf was born March 1, 1891, on a farm near New Holstein. Her father is dead but her mother, Mrs. Juergen Sell is residing in Sioux City, Iowa. Mrs. Graf attended District No. 3 school, New Holstein high school, and later Oshkosh Normal school. Upon her graduation from Normal school she taught school for eight years and on November 27, 1917, she married Herbert Graf. The couple made their home on the Graf homestead near Meggers. The survivors include Mr. Graf and the two sons, Lloyd and Trumann, three sisters, Mrs. Robert Berndt of Gwinner, S.D., Mrs. Bertha Rickman of Sioux City, Iowa, and Mrs. Juliane Kindgren of Sioux City, two step-sisters, Mrs. John Boockmeier and Mrs. George Thade, Sr., of New Holstein, one brother, Robert Sell of Montrose, Minnesota, and four stepbrothers, John, Herman and George Sell of New Holstein and Charles Sell of Milwaukee. She was a member of the Frauenverein of the Reformed church here and was well known throughout Calumet and Manitowoc counties. Funeral arrangements were not announced today as members of the family were in Plymouth in order to arrange to have the body brought to New Holstein. DORA HANSSEN Mrs. Fred Hansen(sic), nee Dora Reimers, aged 67, passed away at the St. Elizabeth hospital in Appleton at 4:45 a.m. this Wednesday morning, after a several months illness. Mrs. Hansen was born August 13, 1874, in the town of New Holstein, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Hansen, and lived on a farm one and a half miles east of this city. She was united in marriage with Fred Hansen on November 18, 1898, and they made their home on a farm five miles northeast of New Holstein until 1935, when they moved to that city. Mr. Hansen died January 13, 1936. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Oscar Peik of Potter, and Mrs. James Lechler of the town of Eaton; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. William Kuehl of New Holstein, and Mrs. William Edens of West Allis; and a brother, Edward, in Appleton. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Erbe-Hoffman Funeral Home. The body will be in state from 5:30 p.m. Thursday until the time of services. The Rev. A. FREDRICK HANSSEN F. Hanssen of New Holstein Dies After Long Illness Frederick Hanssen, aged 63, of New Holstein, died Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock at the Plymouth hospital following an illness of one and one-half years' duration. Mr. Hanssen was born in the town of Eaton on May 19, 1872, the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Hanssen. He was a life-long resident of the New Holstein community. Following his marriage to Miss Dora Reimers of New Holstein on November 18, 1898, he and his wife made their home on the Hanssen farm in the town of Eaton until December 15, 1935, when they moved to New Holstein. During part of the one year and one-half which he was ill, Mr. Hanssen was a patient at St. Agens' hospital in Fond du Lac. Since Christmas, however, he had been confined to the Plymouth hospital. Survivors are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Oscar Pelk of the town of Chilton, Mrs. James Lechler of the town of Eaton, seven grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Fred Arps of New Holstein, Mrs. Henry Kaiser of Kiel, two brothers, John of Chilton, and Otto of Fond du Lac. CHRISTINA JOCHMANN At the advanced age of almost 94 years, Mrs. Johanna Christina Jochmann, mother of Mr. A. F. Neumann of this city, passed away Saturday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Theodore Keppler, at Wild Rose, about fifty miles west of Oshkosh. Mrs. Jochmann, nee Liske, was born in Schleswig, Germany, May 3, 1837. At the age of 24, while still in Germany, she was married to Carl Jochmann. To the couple, eleven children were born, six of who died in their youth. Her husband preceded her in death 24 years ago, since which time the deceased had made her home with her surviving daughters, who are: Mrs. Henry Breyer of Chicago; Mrs. William Schadel of West Bend; Mrs. Herman Krueger of Sheboygan; Mrs. Keppler at Wild Rose; and Mrs. Neumann here. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held here Monday afternoon at the Neuman home, the Rev. E. L. Worthman conducting the last rites. GEORGE H. KRUEGER George H. Krueger, 73, a retired Town of Eaton farmer and beekeeper, died this morning at the home of his daughter-in-law and son, Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Krueger in the Town of Rockland. Born Oct. 21, 1893, at Reedsville, he was a son of the late Henry and Anna Krueger. On July 10, 1920, he married Helen Reinhold of the Town of Schleswig. Following their marriage the couple located on a farm in the Town of Eaton which they operated until Mr. Krueger became ill. Mr. Krueger received the Purple Heart for wounds received in World War I as a member of the Fourth Division serving in France and Germany. He was an elder of the former Niles Presbyterian Church, Eaton, a member of the Manitowoc County Beekeepers Association, a trucker for many years and for more than 40 years was a Niles school board member. He also was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Kiel; a charter member of the Thompson-Burkhart American Legion Post, Valders; and the Otto Oas VFW Post, Manitowoc. Survivors are his wife; four sons, Marne of Collins, Merlin of Two Rivers, Harlan of R. 4, Chilton, and Victor of Reedsville; five grandchildren; and three brothers, Oscar of Plymouth, Clarence of Manitowoc and Ben of Luxemburg. She was a charter member and former president and treasurer of the Valders American Legion Auxiliary, a charter member of the Niles Homemakers Club and Eaton Ladies Aid Society, First Presbyterian Church, Kiel, and Ruth Circle of United Presbyterian Women. MRS. EDNA LECHLER Mrs. Edna Lechler, 77, widow of the late Hubert, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at her home on R. 1, Kiel, Monday. The daughter of Herman and Louisa Kreimann Gau was born on April 20, 1893 in the Town of Eaton. She attended area schools and on Dec. 3, 1918 was married to Mr. Lechler at Bethlehem United Church of Christ in the Town of Schleswig. The couple lived in New Holstein for a year before they moved to the Eaton farm. Mr. Lechler died in December 1958. Surviving is a brother, Hugo Gau, R. 1, Kiel. She was also preceded in death by a sister and step-sister. Graveside committal services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Eaton Cemetery. Following their marriage the couple settled on a farm in the town of Eaton, Mr. Lechler made his home with his son, John, since the death of his wife in March, 1947. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Rudolph Ibe of Eaton and Mrs. Clarence Anhalt of Kiel; four sons, Hubert, John and Mike of Eaton and Helmuth of Kiel; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. HUBERT LECHLER Hubert Lechler, 65, Town of Eaton (Manitowoc County) farmer, died early today at this home on Highway 32 about five miles north of Kiel. He had been ailing four years. A native of Eaton, he was born May 12, 1893, a son of the late Ferdinand and Emma Strassmann Lechler. He grew up and attended district school in Eaton, marrying the former Edna Gau, Dec. 3, 1918. The couple lived in New Holstein for a year, then took over operating of their present farm. Surviving are his wife; three brothers, John and Michael of Eaton and Helmuth of Kiel; and two sisters, Mrs. Clarence Anhalt of Kiel and Mrs. Rudolph Ibe of Eaton. He was preceded in death by a brother, James. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed Church in Kiel, of which he was a member. The Rev. Vernon E. MIKE H. LECHLER Mike H, Lechler, 66, of Route 1, Kiel, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton, where he had been a patient for 10 days. Born in the Town of Eaton on December 15, 1907, he was a son of the late Ferdinand and Emma Strassmann Lecher. He attended Elder Grove School. On June 27, 1931 he married the former Florence Rabe at Zion Lutheran Church, Louis Corners. The couple located on the Lechler home farm in the Town of Eaton. For 11 years, prior to his retirement two years ago, Mr. Lechler was employed at the A.A. Laun Furniture Company, Kiel. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kiel. Survivors include his widow; two daughters, seven grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Clarence Anhalt, Kiel, and two brothers, John, rural Kiel, and Helmuth, Kiel. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kiel, with the Reverend C.L. Reiter, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial was in Eaton Cemetery, Town of Eaton. A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Lechler’S name for Trinity Lutheran Church.
EMIL MEGGERS Emil Meggers, 91, a former Kiel area resident, died Sunday at Manitowoc Health Care Center, where he had lived for 15 years. He was born Sept. 29, 1894, in the town of Schleswig, the son of the late Henry and Sophia Greve Meggers. He attended Kiel High School and worked as a farm laborer in the Kiel area. Survivors include a niece and a nephew. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, the Rev. Joe Henderson, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Kiel, officiating. Burial will be in Eaton Cemetery.
HENRY MEGGERS HENRY MEGGERS DIES. Death claimed Henry Meggers on Saturday, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul F. Gast, in this city. Heart failure was the immediate cause of death, after he had suffered some months with paralysis, which rendered him helpless. Mr. Meggers was a well-known former resident of the town of Schleswig, where he was postmaster of the village bearing his name, a few miles north of Kiel for several years. He was born February 6, 1856, in the town of Charlestown, Calumet county, and was married in 1881 to Sophia Greve. In 1891 the couple settled in the town of Schleswig, where Mr. Meggers operated a farm. His wife died in February of this year. He leaves one daughter, Mrs. Paul Gast of Kiel, and two sons, Alvin and Emil on the old homestead, He is also survived by one brother and six sisters. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, with interment in the Eaton cemetery. Attorney E. S. Schmitz of Manitowoc officiated at the obsequies.

ANNETTE LINDA MUELLER Mrs. Myron D. Mueller Mrs. Myron D. Mueller, 19, R. 1, Kiel, was pronounced dead on arrival Monday night at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, after she was found in her car outside the Family Heritage Nursing Home. Mrs. Mueller had attended a union meeting of nursing home employes. An autopsy was being conducted to determine the cause of death. No foul play was suspected, according to Coroner James Powers. The former Annette Linda Buchholz was born July 23, 1957, in Sheboygan, a daughter of Eldon and Mariele Klemme Buchholz, R. 1, Kiel. She graduated from Kiel High School in 1975, and received a degree as a nurses aide from Lakeshore Technical Institute. She was employed at the Family Heritage Nursing Home, Manitowoc. On Nov. 13, 1976 she was married to Mr. Mueller at St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel The couple resided in the town of Meeme since their marriage. She was a member of St. Peter UCC. MINNIE NEUMANN Mrs. Rudolph F. Neumann, 61, R. 1, New Holstein, died Wednesday evening at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan. She had been a patient there for the last four weeks. Mrs. Neumann was born Minnie Diefenthaler, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Hartman) Diefenthaler, in the Town of Rhine. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in the Town of Rhine and attended district school there. She married Rudolph Neumann at Elkhart Lake on Dec. 14, 1929. The couple operated a farm in the Town of Rhine until 1950, when they moved to their present farm in the Town of New Holstein. Mrs. Neumann was an active member of St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Kiel. Survivors include her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Allen Jeanette Wangemann; two sisters, Mrs. William Schmahl, Route 1, Elkhart Lake, and Mrs. William Storev of Milwaukee; a brother, William Diefenthaler of Appleton; and a granddaughter, Lori Lee. RUDOLPH F. NEUMANN Rudolph F. Neumann, 72, of R. 1, New Holstein, died Friday morning at St. Nicholas Hospital where he had been a patient since Feb. 3. Born March 24, 1891, in the Town of Schleswig, he was a son of the late William and Katie Ruh Neumann, attended the Schleswig district school, and married the former Elsie Bosma of the Town of Eden on Nov. 2, 1915. The couple farmed in the Town of Rhine. Mrs. Neumann died in January, 1929. On Dec. 14, 1929, Mr. Neumann married the former Minnie Defenthaler(sic) of the Town of Rhine in Kiel. The couple farmed in the Town of Rhine until 1950 when they moved to their present home. She died in June, 1961. Mr. Neumann was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Kiel. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Allen (Jeanette) Wangemann of Sheboygan; two granddaughters; two brothers, Oscar and Adolph of the Town of Schleswig; and four sisters Mr. William Happel and Mrs. William Defenthaler, both of Kiel, Mrs. Walter Jung of rural Plymouth, and Mrs. Edwin Meinnert of rural Sheboygan. OSCAR H. NIMMER Oscar H. Ninmer(sic), 85, Route 1, Kiel, died Sunday afternoon at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital where he had been admitted earlier in the day. He was born June 8, 1888 in the Town of Schleswig, son of the late August and Marie Roehl Ninmer. He attended district schools. On May 16, 1911, he married Laura Westphalen at St. John United Church of Christ, New Holstein. After marriage the couple moved to a farm in Schleswig, which they operated until they moved to Kiel in 1951. While in Kiel he was employed as a custodian in a public school and by the City Park Commission. The couple observed its golden wedding anniversary in May 1961. After the death of his wife on February 17, 1969, Mr. Ninmer made his home with a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Rautmann of Route 1, Kiel. He was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Kiel. Survivors are the daughter, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edwin of Route 1, Kiel and Walter at Rocky Knoll and a sister, Mrs. Stanley Buvid of Two Rivers. Funeral services were held Wednesday at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ with the Reverend John F. Baumann, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Eaton Cemetery.
ELLANORA OESAU MRS. ELLANORE(sic) OESAU SUCCUMBS ON SATURDAY Mrs. Ellanore Oesau, aged 55, passed away at the home of her brother, Herbert Graf, in the town of Eaton on Saturday morning after a long illness. Mrs. Oesau was born in the town of Eaton on Sept. 28, 1890, the daughter of Fred and Franciska Moser—Graf. In January, 1920, she was married to Alfred Oesau and they resided in this city for many years, and for the past 14 years has lived in the town of Eaton. Mr. Oesau died in 1931. Survivors are three daughters, four brothers, Herbert and Waldo Graf of the town of Eaton, Ferdinand of Jacksonville, Fla., and John of Milwaukee; a sister, Mrs. Mathilda Hansen of New Holstein. Mrs. Oesau was a member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service of the Bethel Methodist church of Meggers. Funeral rites were held Tuesday afternoom at 1:15 p. m. at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, and at 2 o’clock at the Bethel Methodist church at Meggers, with Rev. C.E. Hagen of Manitowoc officiating. Burial was made in the town of Eaton cemetery. Pallbearers were John Timm, Milton Timm, E. W. Tamm, Clifford Weber, Milton Reichardt, and O.H Leverenz.
MATHIAS POPPE Hold Last Rites for Aged Resident of New Holstein New Holstein - Funeral services for Mathias Poppe, aged 74, and a bachelor, who passed away Sunday night from heart trouble, were held today at the home of his brother, Henry Poppe, at Meggers, the Rev. A. George Schmidt, pastor of St. John's Reformed church of this city, officiating. Interment was made at the town of Eaton cemetery. Deceased was born November 10, 1855, in the town of Charlestown, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Claus Poppe. His entire life was spent on the family homestead until three years ago when he went to live with his brother, Henry, at Meggers, the only survivor of the family. PETER POPPE The dread disease consumption has claimed another victim in the person of Peter Poppe, a young man of town Eaton. Two years ago Mr. Poppe went into the employ of Schmidt & Mathaeus to learn the tinners trade when the dread disease began to show itself. He then took a trip for his health to California, from where he returned some time later, apparently well, but it was not long before the symptoms again began to show themselves. From that time on he began to grow worse until the disease terminated in death last week Thursday. Mr. Poppe was an upright and honest man, loved and respected by all who knew him. TELSCHE POPPE Mrs. Claus Poppe died at the home of her granddaughter Mr. H. N. Edens Wednesday Oct. 20th, 1915, with whom she had been making her home for the past ten years. Telsche Thiessen was born in Germany on October 6, 1835. In 1852 she was married to Claus Popp and a few months later they came to America and settled near New Holstein. Mr. Poppe died in 1868. She leaves two sons, one sister, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The funeral will be held from the residence of H. N. Edens Saturday and the remains placed in the Town of Eaton cemetery.
EMMA RABE Mrs. Otto Rabe Mrs. Otto Rabe, 52, passed away at her farm home in the town of Schleswig at 2 a.m. Thursday, after an illness of three months' duration. Mrs. Rabe, nee Emma Lawrence was born July 29, 1884 in the town of Schleswig, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Warren Lawrence. She was united in marriage to Mr. Rabe on May 29, 1900. For twelve years they lived on a farm on the Ucker road in the town of Eaton, and from here they moved to a farm in the town of Schleswig, where they have resided since. Following are the survivors: her husband; a daughter Elaine, at home; six sons, Harvey of Charlestown, Ervin of Eaton, Ray (married), at home, and Walter, Truman and Clarence in Schleswig; two sisters, Mrs. John Mattes of Collins, and Mrs. Herman Voelker of Kiel. Two children preceded her in death. Mrs. Rabe was a member of the Eaton Ladies' Aid Society. OLIVA RABE Mrs. Alfon Rabe, 63, Route 1, Kiel, died Sunday night at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital after having been in ill health for the past several years. The former Oliva Brocker was born August 25, 1911 in the Town of Eaton, daughter of the late Frederick and Ida Bosma Brocker. She attended school in the township. On November 26, 1930, she married Mr. Rabe at Zion Lutheran Church, Louis Corners. She later worked at hotels in New Holstein and ChIlton. The couple farmed in the Town of Schleswig for four years before moving to a farm in Eaton. Mrs. Rabe was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kiel, its Ladies Aid Society and the Eaton Ladies Aid. (Survivors omitted for privacy) Funeral services were held yesterday, Wednesday, in Trinity Church, Kiel, with the Reverend C. L. Reiter, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Eaton Cemetery. OTTO G. RABE Funeral services for Otto G. Rabe, 89, a retired Town of Eaton farmer, who died Thursday morning at the Toth Nursing Home, Chilton, will be held Saturday. The Rev. John F. Born April 14, 1878 in the Town of Eaton, he was a son of the late Frederick and Wilhelmina Kepernich Rabe, and on May 29, 1900, married Emma Lawrence of the Town of Eaton. The couple operated a farm in the Town of Schleswig until 1911, when they moved to a farm in the Town of Eaton. Mrs. Rabe died in April, 1936. He was clerk of the Eaton Cemetery Association for many years. ANNA REINHOLDT From Der Nord Westen, 15 Mar. 1906: Mrs. Anna Margarethe Reinholdt, one of the oldest settlers of Town Schleswig, died March 4 of a stroke which arose from old age debility. Mrs. Reinholdt was born 18 September 1826 in Himme, Holstein, and came with her parents to America in 1854, settling in Town Schleswig in 1855. Her husband died in 1890. She leaves 6 children. The funeral was held March 7.

She had been ill for about a year, but had been in bed only a few days. Mrs. Reinholdt, nee Mary Sievers, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Sievers, was born in New Holstein, August 17, 1859. In February, 1886 she was united in marriage to William Reinholdt at Reedsville, where the latter was engaged in the retail hardware business. Later the couple moved to the old Reinholdt homestead, four miles north of Kiel, where they resided until eight years ago. Five children were born to the union: Mrs. Herman Roseburg and George J. of Milwaukee; Rudolph of Minneapolis; Mrs. George Krueger of Valders; and Miss Emma of this city. Mrs. Reinholdt was a member of the Reformed church Frauenverein. Other surviving relatives are: Mrs. D. Schaar of New Holstein; Mrs. Katherine Aggen of Chilton; Mrs. Christina Worm of Fond du Lac, sisters of the deceased; and one brother, Claus Sievers, of New Holstein. Funeral services were held at her home on Thursday afternoon with interment in the Union cemetery in the town of Eaton. *********** Mrs. Reinholdt of Kiel Passes Away After an Illness Kiel - Mrs. William Reinholdt, aged 69, died at her home here Monday after a long illness with pneumonia. Mrs. Reinholdt, nee Mary Sievers, was born in New Holstein, Aug. 17, 1859, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jorgen Sievers. She was married on Feb. 12, 1886, at Reedsville to William Reinholdt, and five children, who with her husband survive. The children are: Mrs. Herman Resebirg of Milwaukee, George Reinholdt of Milwaukee, Rudolph of Minneapolis, Mrs. George Krueger of Valders, and Miss Emma Reinholdt at home. Other survivors are three grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. D. Schaar, Mrs. Christina Worm, Mrs. Katherine Aggen of New Holstein, and a brother, Claus Sievers of New Holstein. Mr. Reinhold was born in Town Schleswig on September 29, 1855, and grew to manhood there. On February 12, 1886, he was united in marriage with Mary Sievers of New Holstein. The couple moved to Reedsville where Mr. Reinhold conducted a hardware store in company with his brother, Henry. In 1887 Mr. Reinhold sold his share in the store and moved to the old Reinhold homestead in town Schleswig. The couple lived there for thirty-five years. During the spring of 1922 they sold the farm to John Spettel and moved to Kiel. For seventeen years Mr. Reinhold was justice of the peace, and for three years supervisor of town Schleswig. Mr. Reinhold was for a period of four years Town Schleswig chairman and also road superintendent for ten years. Reinhold, Public Figure, Dies Tuesday William H. Reinhold, for over thirty years a prosperous Town of Schleswig farmer and highly respected public official, and since 1922 a resident of Kiel, died at his home here Tuesday morning at seven o'clock. Few men in this vicinity have left behind them so long a record of faithful public service as Mr. Reinhold who even at his age of 75 retained a keen mind and was well informed on current events. The deceased was born September 29 in the town of Schleswig, the son of the late Claus and Anna Reinhold. On the homestead farm he grew to manhood. On February 12, 1866, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Sievers of New Holstein, and immediately after, entered into a partnership with his brother Henry, founding a hardware store in Reedsville. After a year in business, he sold his interest to his brother, and returned to the home- stead farm, of which he assumed active control. It was there that he came to be an important factor in civic and governmental affairs. Offices he held prior to his retirement from public life included 21 years as school clerk of school district number 3 in Schleswig; 17 years as justice of the peace; three years as supervisor of the town of Schleswig; four years as town chairman; and ten years as superintendent of roads for the town. In addition, he was a director in the Eaton Cemetery Ass'n and the Schleswig Telephone Co. until the time of his death. It was in 1922 that he withdrew from active live, selling the farm to John Spettel and moving to Kiel, where he had since made his home. His wife preceded him in death Dec. 3, 1928. Five children, all of whom are living, were born to the couple. They are: Mrs. Herman (Theresa) Reseburg and Mrs. George (Helen) Krueger of Valders; and Miss Emma at home; Rudolph of Minneapolis; and George of Milwaukee. Three sisters, Mrs. Dora Gisch, Mrs. Helen Parlaman, and Mrs. Herman Walters, all of Milwaukee, also survive, as well as three grandchildren. For many years while he lived on the farm, he acted as correspondent for the Kiel National-Zeitung and later the Tri-County Record. He was also a contributor to the Manitowoc Pilot. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Friday from the home and interment will be in the Eaton cemetery. The Rev. E.L. Worthman will conduct the last rites. IRENE ROEHL Mrs. Edgar Roehl, 77, of 3125 N. 27th St., died Thursday afternoon at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient the past five days. The former Irene Westphalen, she was born Jan. 12, 1899 in the Town of Eaton, Manitowoc County, a daughter of Ferdinand and Amelia Lechler Westphalen she attended district school. On Sept. 18, 1917 she was married to Mr. Roehl at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Town of Schleswig. After marriage the couple operated a farm in the Town of Schleswig until 1937, when they moved to Sheboygan. Mrs. Roehl was employed at Wolff’s Laundry until retiring 15 years ago. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1967. She was a member of St. John UCC in Sheboygan and the Eaton Ladies Aid. Survivors are her husband: a daughter, Mrs. Sylvester (Elda) Neuber of Sheboygan; a son, Elmer of Gretna, La.; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Herman Buchholz of rural Kiel. FRED ROSENBAUER Hold Rites for Fred Rosenbauer Kiel - Last rites were held last Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Fred Rosenbauer, Sr., at the St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed church who passed away at his farm home on Monday afternoon, March 25. The Rev. E. L. Worthman officiated and interment was made in the town of Eaton cemetery. The senior choir sang "Heimatland," "Freundenvol", and "Safe In the Arms of Jesus," accompanied by Mrs. Roland Griebenow at the organ. MARY ROSENBAUER Mrs. Fred Rosenbauer Sr., 74, former county resident, died Friday at the home of her son in law and daughter, Mr.and Mrs. Armin Kreimann of New Holstein. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the St. Peter-Paul Evangelical and Reformed church, Kiel. The Rev. E. L. Worthman will officiate and burial will be in the Eaton cemetery. She was born Mary Stueven in New York in 1876 and was brought to Manitowoc county by her parents. In 1894 she was married to Mr. Rosenbauer and they located on a farm in Schleswig where they resided for 50 years. In 1944 the couple observed their golden wedding. Mr. Rosenbauer died in 1946 since which time Mrs. Rosenbauer resided at New Holstein. Survivors are five daughters, Mrs. Kreimann, Mrs. Edwin Quante, Mrs. Arthur Jochman and Mrs. Milton Brocker of New Holstein and Miss Mary Rosenbauer of Kiel; two sons, Werner of Osman and Fred Jr., of New Holstein; brother, Herman of Pymouth; two sisters, Mrs. Louis Matter of Milwaukee and Mrs. Edward Domke of Hilbert; 23 grandchildren, and 48 great grandchildren. JOHN SPETTEL John Spettel, 84, of R. 1, Kiel, a retired Town of Schleswig farmer, died at this home early today. He had been ill for the past several years. Born Sept. 18, 1875, in the Town of Herman, he was a son of the late Jacob and Elizabeth Spettel. As a youth, the family moved to the Town of Schleswig. On Oct. 23, 1900, he married the former Pauline Bosma of the Town of Eaton and the couple farmed in the Town of Schleswig until their retirement 18 years ago. The couple had been living in Kiel for the past 10 years. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1950. Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Clyde (Elda) Hagenow of rural Kiel; a son, Elmer of Sheboygan; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one sister, Miss Mary Spettel of Oshkosh, and one brother, Jacob of rural Kiel. PAULINE SPETTEL Mrs. Pauline Spettel, 90, of R.1, Kiel, widow of John, died Tuesday night at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, where she was a patient for 10 days. Born on July 10, 1883 in the Town of Eaton, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sent Bosma. She attended the Elder District School. On Oct. 23, 1900 she was married to Mr. Spettel. The couple operated a farm in the Town of Schleswig until 1941 when they retired. They later lived with a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hagenow in the Kiel area. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in October, 1950. Mr. Spettel died Oct. 21, 1959. She was a charter member of the Eaton Cemetery Ladies Aid and a former member of the Better Homes Homemakers Club. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Hagenow (Elda), R. 1, Kiel; a son, Elmer, Sheboygan; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Unetah Opohl of Sheboygan Falls, and two brothers, George Bosma of Kiel and Alfred of New Holstein. BENJAMIN STRASMAN Funeral services for Benjamin T. Strasman, 82, of the Town of Eaton were held Monday afternoon at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. Burial was in Eaton Cemetery. Mr. Strasman died Saturday morning at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton. He was born January 17, 1890 in the Town of Schleswig, a son of the late Michael and Louise Zorn Strasman. He attended district schools. On October 5, 1914 he married the former Martha Wriedt at New Holstein. The couple lived in northern Wisconsin prior to moving to Schleswig 29 years ago. Mr. Strasman was a farmer and later employed as a carpenter for Stoelting Brothers at Kiel, retiring in 1967. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1964. Mr. Strasman was a member of the Kiel congregation of Jehovah Witnesses. Survivors are his widow; two daughters, a son, nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
CHRISTINA STUEVEN Mrs. Claus Stueven passed away at her home in the village Monday evening of asthma. Christina Dorothea Stueven (nee Trimpop) was born in Marina, Holstein, Germany on Feb. 20, 1846. On January 1, 1865 she was united in marriage to Claus Stueven. July 7, 1876 she, in the company of her husband and children, came to New Holstein and settled on a farm in the town of Eaton where they lived for several years, later buying a farm in the town of New Holstein one mile northwest of the village. On July 1, 1906 they moved to New Holstein and retired from active work. Nine children were born to them, three of whom are dead. The remaining are Henry and Herman of the town of New Holstein, Helen Matter of Milwaukee, Julia Feldt and Mary Rosenbauer of Schleswig and Kati Dumke of town of Charlestown. Mrs. Stueven was a dutiful wife and a loving mother, who has worked early and late to give her children a good home. On January 1, 1915, Mr. and Mrs. Stueven celebrated their golden wedding at the hall of Edw. Hennings. A large number of friends were present. Funeral services were held at the Eaton cemetery. Rev. CLAUS STUEVEN Claus Stueven, 90, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Edward Domke, near New Holstein, after having been confined to his bed for 5 weeks. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Domke residence. The Rev. E. L. Worthmann will officiate and interment will be in the New Holstein cemetery. Mr. Stueven was born in Holstein, Germany on March 16, 1841. His marriage with Christina Trempopt took place in Germany in 1866. The couple came to America in 1876, locating near New Holstein. The lived on a farm and in 1902 moved to New Holstein where they resided on State Street for fourteen years. Mrs. Stueven preceded her husband in death on October 19, 1916. After that Mr. Stueven lived with a daughter, Mrs. August Feldt at Glenbeulah. Later he came to New Holstein to reside with another daughter, Mrs. Edward Domke. He is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Domke, New Holstein; Mrs. August Feldt, Glenbuelah; Mrs. Fred Rosenbauer, Kiel; and Mrs. Louis Matter, of Milwaukee; two sons: Herman, town Schleswig and Henry of Kiel: twenty-five grandchildren: twenty-three great-grandchildren and by one sister. ANNA TAGGE Mrs. Anna Tagge, 91, former New Holstein resident, died Tuesday evening at Wolf Point, Mont., where she had been living for the past eight years with her daughter, Mrs. Guy Miller. The former Anna Gau, she was born, Oct. 7, 1863, in St. Catherine, Ont., Canada, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederich Gau. She was married to John Herman Tagge, April 29, 1885, in the town of Schleswig, Manitowoc County. The couple farmed in Schleswig for several years before moving to New Holstein where Mr. Tagge died a number of years ago. She was a member of the St. John Evangelical and Reformed Church, New Holstein, the Women's Guild, American Legion Auxiliary, Women's Relief Corps, Royal Neighbors of America, Turner Auxiliary and the E. R. A. Surviving in addition to the daughter, Mrs. Miller (Emma), are another daughter, Mrs. Herman (Ida) Schmeckerty of Minneapolis; two sons, Herman of Loveland, Colo., and Otto of New Holstein; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the St. John Evangelical and Reformed Church, New Holstein, with the Rev. Roland Kley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the town of Eaton cemetery. HENRY TAGGE John Henry Tagge, who left here to spend the winter with his daughter, Mr. Herman Schmeckert at Minneapolis, was taken seriously ill with pneumonia about two weeks ago and passed away Wednesday of last week. Mr. Tagge was born in the town of Eaton, on June 25th 1859. On April 29th 1885 he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Gau. After his marriage the couple continued to live on the family homestead, later residing on a farm in Hayton for 12 years. From there they moved to a farm one mile northwest of here, now owned by William Ninmer. In 1910 they retired and moved to this city were they have since resided. For the past six years Mr. Tagge was employed at a greenhouse in Sheboygan. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, four children; Mrs. Guy Miller of Flaxville, Mont., Mrs. Herman Schmeckert of Minneapolis, Herman Tagge of Holton, Kansas; and John of this city; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Eberhart of Cordova, Md., and Mrs. Anna McAdams of Racine. AMELIA WESTPHALEN Eaton Woman Passes Away Stroke is Fatal to Mrs. Westphalen; Rites to be Held Friday Mrs. Aurelia Westphalen, nee Lechler, aged 63, passed away at three o’clock a. m. Tuesday after a week’s illness and a stroke. The deceased was born May 6, 1871, on a farm in the town of Eaton, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian Lechler. She was married to Ferdinand Westphalen of the town of Eaton on October 25, 1887, and they located on the farm where Mrs. Westphalen passed away. Mr. Westphalen died December 23, 1924. Six children were born to the couple. Mrs. Westphalen is survived by three sons, Ernst and Roland of the town of Eaton and Edmund of Schleswig; three daughters, Mrs. Oscar (Laura) Ninmer, Mrs. Herman (Hulda) Buchholz, and Mrs. Edgar (Arena) Roehl, all of Schleswig; and one brother, Ferdinand Lechler and 13 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at 1:30 from the family residence in Eaton and at two o’clock with services at the Bethlehem Reformed church in the town of Schleswig. The Rev. A. E. EDMUND WESTPHALEN Ed. Westphalen of New Holstein Dies Wednesday New Holstein - (Special) - Edmund Westphalen, 51, well-known Steinthal farmer, died at his home there Wednesday night at 8:30 o'clock of heart disease. He was born in town Eaton on Feb. 27, 1889, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Westphalen. On June 14, 1911, he married Loraine Nottling of town Rhine. He was a carpenter for two years and then purchased a farm in Steinthal, where he resided since. He was a member and elder of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church of New Holstein, member of the Churchmen's Brotherhood, and an officer of the Eaton cemetery board. His wife died in September, 1936, and the only child died in infancy. Survivors are two brothers and three sisters, Roland and Mrs. Oscar Ninmer of Steinthal, Ernst of town Eaton, Mrs. Herman Buchholz of Megers and Mrs. Edgar Roehl of Sheboygan. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at the Meiselwitz Funeral home in Kiel, and at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church here, the Rev. A. G. Mrs. Westphalen was born Marie Nottling, the daughter of the late Bernhard and Elizabeth Nottling, Nov. 5, 1887, in the town of Rhine. She was married to Edmund Westphalen of the town of Eaton, June 14, 1911, and the couple located immediately on the present farm in the town of Schleswig. They had one daughter who died while an infant. She is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Walter Vogel of St. Nazianz, Mrs. Herbert Schwartz of rural Kiel, Mrs. Elmer Herman of Sheboygan, Mrs. Leon Roeck of Kiel and Mrs. Eugene Mathes of rural Plymouth, and three brothers, Albert and Elmer, both of Kiel, and Herbert of rural Elkhart Lake. ********* Mrs. Theckla Westphalen, 66, of Rt. 2, Kiel, died Saturday evening at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kiel. The Rev. C.L. Reiter will officiate and burial will be at Eaton Cemetery. Mrs. Westphalen, nee Theckla Schmitt, was born Nov. 17, 1907, in Town of Rhine, daughter of the late Peter and Apollonia Zimmerman Schmitt. She was married to Roland Westphalen May 8, 1924. The couple located on the Westphalen home farm, Town of Eaton. He preceded her in death December, 1965, then she moved to Kiel. She was a member of Eaton Cemetery Ladies Aid Society. Survivors include two sons, five daughters, three brothers, Albert and Elmer, of Kiel and Herbert, of rural Elkhart Lake; five sisters, Mrs. Walter Vogel, of St. Nazianz, Mrs. Herbert Schwartz, of rural Kiel, Mrs. Elmer Herman, of Sheboygan, Mrs. Leon Roeck, of Kiel and Mrs. Eugene Mathes, of rural Plymouth, 26 grand- children and five great grandchildren. HENRY ZARMSTORF Hy. Zarmsdorf(sic) Passes Away End Comes Wednesday While on Visit With Niece Suffering from a stroke, Henry Zarmsdorf, 62, passed away at 4 o'clock Wednesday morning of this week at the home of his niece, Mrs. Henry Christel near Meggers. He had been visiting there since Monday. He died on the farm where he was born and where he lived all his life until a few years ago, when he sold the farm to Mr. and Mrs. Christel. He had been living with a sister, Mrs. William Peterson, at New Holstein. Mr. Zarmsdorf was born February 20, 1874 on the homestead farm, one of nine children. He remained on the farm all his life, and was unmarried. Surviving are the following brothers and sisters William Zarmsdorf, Mrs. William Hauschild and Mrs. William Peterson of New Holstein; Mrs. Lena Oesau of near Chilton; Mrs. Joseph Christel of near St. Nazianz; Mrs. Minnie Huenerbein and Mrs. Otto Rusch of Milwaukee; and Mrs. Rita Lemke of Nebraska. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon from the Meiselwitz Funeral Home here, and burial will be made in the Eaton cemetery, in the family lot.
SOPHIA ZARMSTORF Mrs. Sofie Zarmsdorf, nee Timm, passed away at the home of her son, Gustave, on the old homestead in the town of Schleswig, on Saturday evening at 5 o’clock. She was born in Michelburgh, Germany, on December 11, 1840. Later coming to America, she landed at New York, where she was united in marriage to Ludwig Zarmsdorf. After living there two years the happy couple came to New Holstein where they lived for a short time before purchasing the farm on which she died. Thirteen children were born to them, one of whom died while quite young. Those left to mourn the loss of a mother are; Mrs. Minnie Huenbein of Milwaukee, August Zarmsdorf of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Henry Oesau of Chilton, Mrs. Rita Lemke, of Nebraska, Mrs. Emma Rush of Milwaukee, Mrs. Wm Hauschild, Mrs. W. Petersen, Rudolph and William of this village, Henry of the town of Schleswig, Gustave on the farm and Mrs. Jos. Christel of Steinthal. Mrs. Zarmsdorf was a very industrious woman, who assisted her husband in getting a start in life and knew no work too hard for her. Besides bringing up a large family of children, giving each a mother’s love and teaching then the right pathways to follow, she found time to assist her husband in the fields. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock from the home she so long enjoyed and the remains were placed besides those of her husband in the Eaton cemetery. ADELA ZEINER Mrs. Andrew Zeiner, 54, died suddently at 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday at her home in Town Schleswig, Manitowoc county. She was born in Town Eaton, Manitowoc county, on May 23, 1894, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Brocker. In May of 1914 she was married to August C. Ninmer. The couple settled on a farm in Town Schleswig where Mr. Ninmer died in 1922. On Oct. 18, 1923, she was married to Andrew Zeiner of Town Schleswig. The survivors include her husband; one daughter, Mrs. William (Elfrieda) Becker of Schleswig; two grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Alma Sievert of Schleswig, Mrs. William Koepp and Miss Bertha Brocker of Chilton, and one brother, George of Town Eaton. One daughter preceded her in death in 1929. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed church at Kiel. The Rev. E. L. Worthman will officiate and burial will be made in the Eaton cemetery. Friends may call at the Meiselwitz Funeral home in Kiel from Friday noon at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. ANDREW ZEINER Andrew Zeiner, 81, of Route 1, Kiel, a retired Town of Schleswig farmer, died Thursday evening at Rocky Knoll where he had been a patient six weeks. Born March 28, 1893, in Hungary, he was a son of the late Nick and Helen Spring Zeiner. He came In this country at the age of 17 and lived in New York City and Cleveland, Ohio, until 1921 when he located in Schleswig. On October 18, 1923, he was married to Adelia Brocker Ninmer. Mr. Zeiner operated the Ninmer home farm until his retirement eight years ago. Mrs. Zeiner died March 10, 1948. He was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Kiel, and a former treasurer of the Eaton Cemetery Association. Surviving are a daughter, two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Saturday at Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel, the Reverend John F. Baumann, pastor of St. Peter United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in Eaton Cemetery.
