Joseph Schnettler

Joseph Schnettler, 75, of St. Nazianz died Friday afternoon at 
St.Nicholas hospital in Sheboygan after he had submitted to an
operation.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Gregory's
Catholic church at St. Nazianz, the Rev. Fintan Holzknecht officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be removed to the
homestead farm, the William L. Christel home on route 2, Valders, at
6 o'clock this evening and will lie in state there until the hour of
the funeral.
Mr. Schnettler was born July 14, 1866, in Sheboygan, and when he was
two years old the family moved to St. Nazianz and settled on the
homestead which the Christels now operate.
Mrs. Schnettler, the former Gertrude Meyer of Green Bay, died in 1912.
Mr. Schnettler is a charter member of the St. Gregory's Holy Name
society and the society will recite the rosary at the Christel home
Sunday at 8 p.m.
Surviving are seven children, John Schnettler and Mrs. Christel of
Valders route 2; Nick and Joseph Schnettler Jr. and Mrs. Leonard
Anhalt of Sheboygan; Sister Felicitas, O.S.F., of Beaver Dam, and
Mrs. August Klingeisen of Manitowoc route 1; one brother, Nick
Schnettler of St. Nazianz; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Biskobing of
Plymouth and Mrs. Therese Kutz of Milwaukee; and 27 grandchildren.

Schnettler, Joseph (July 14, 1866-Sept. 19, 1941 –husband of Gertrude Meyer 
[married May 18, 1897 at St. Gregory] –son of John Schnettler and Regina 
Lubeley –born City of Sheboygan, with his family moving to a farm near St. 
Nazianz in 1868 –farmer –on Nov. 28, 1902 purchased his father’s farm at 
16404 Christel Road –in 1906 the current house that stands on this farm was 
built –his wife Gertrude lived on this farm until her death in 1912 –Joseph 
lived and worked on this farm until selling to his son-in-law William L. 
Christel on Feb. 27, 1929 –in 1929 retired from the farm and moved to St. 
Nazianz –on June 6, 1929 purchased the vacant lot at 203 East Birch Street 
and had a house built –lived here until his death in 1941 –died from 
“pulmonary embolism following operation for infected and enlarged prostate 
–had enlarged prostate containing stones”)
