ANDREW MICHELS

Andrew Michels

(b. Jan. 22, 1855 - d. Nov. 12, 1926)

Death came suddenly to the Andrew Michels home and claimed Mr. Michels
late Friday afternoon (November 12, 1926) while he was about his work
on his farm near Morris. During the day he had spoken of not feeling
very well, but apparently gave it no serious thought and while doing
the evening work about the barn was stricken with appoplexy(sic).
Mr. Michels has lived on his farm near Morris nearly 16 years and,
with the help of his family, had developed it into one of the attractive
farm homes of the county. He is survived by his wife, seven children
and ten grandchildren.
Mr. Michels was born at Port Washington, Wisconsin (should be Fredonia,
Wisconsin) January 22, 1855. (1856 on birth certificate and gravestone)
Before coming to Morris in 1911 (should be 1910) he lived at Le Sueur,
Minnesota and Marshfield, Wisconsin. He was married to Anna Jost on
June 7, 1887. (At St. Thomas Church in Le Sueur, Minnesota)
Funeral services were held at Assumption Church Monday morning and
despite the stormy weather and drifted roads, a large number attended.
Rev. Father George Rauch conducted the services.
Besides Mr. Michel's daughters and son, all of whom were present at
the funeral, the out-of-town relatives who attended were: Leo W. Pryor
of St. Paul and Robert Stenger of Austin, sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Jacob Jost of Maple Lake and Samuel Bauer and son, Frank Bauer of
Le Sueur. The daughters are Mrs. J.P. Delmore of Altoona, Wisconsin,
Mrs. I.S. Draper of Chicago, Mrs. R.R. Stenger of Austin, Mrs. L.W.
Pryor of St. Paul, Sister M. Theobald of Burlington, Wisconsin, and
Miss Clara Michels of Morris, the son, W. Joseph Michels, also lives
at the family home in Morris. Another son, John Michels, is deceased.
Mr. Michels is also survived by three brothers, John Michels of
Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Peter Michels of Los Angeles, and Joseph Michels
of De Pere, Wisconsin, and one sister Mrs. Elizabeth Kunny of Los
Angeles.
