ANNA JANTE Anna nee Bernardi (1844-1899) She was the widow of Nicolas Jante (Feb. 18, 1828-May 5, 1888). ANNA JANTY Town Russell On Saturday, the funeral of Miss Anne Jeanty(sic) of Kiel took place at St. Ann’s, at 10 o’clock. A solemn requiem high mass was read by the Rev. J. Schmitt, A. Roder and F. Sipple. The deceased is a sister of Nick and Victor Jeanty of St. Ann. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. A. Roder of Kiel. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery. Sheboygan Press, Sat. ELIZABETH JANTY Death claimed Mrs. Nic. Jandy(sic) on Monday morning at 2 o’clock, at her home on the corner of Seventh street and Calumet avenue, after an illness of eight months of cancer of the stomach. The deceased, nee Elizabeth LaCroix, was born near St. Ann, July 1, 1859, and was married in 1891 to Nic. Jandy. The couple lived on a farm near St. Anna until a month ago, when the family moved to take up their residence in Kiel. She is survived by her husband, and three children, namely: Henry on the farm near St. Anna, Hilda and Mary at home; four sisters: Mrs. Wm. Diedrich of Chilton, Mrs. Jos. Brill of Ripon, Mrs. Henry Stemper and Mrs. John Turba of St. Anna. The funeral took place on Wednesday morning from St. Ann’s church, Rev. Schmitt officiating. Burial in the adjoining cemetery. ELIZABETH JANTY Mrs. Jeanty(sic), Elkhart Lake, Passes Away. Mrs. Elizabeth Jeanty, aged 21, resident of Elkhart Lake and formerly of this city, died at 5 a.m. today at St. Nicholas hospital. Mrs. Jeanty, nee Elizabeth Finger, was born in Perkins county, South Dakota, April 5, 1914, and came to this city in 1927 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Finger. She attended public schools here and the Vocational school for two years. Later she was employed as a maid at the home of Dr. and Mrs. C.N. Sonnenburg for three years. On June 16, 1934, she was united in marriage with Norbert Jeanty and the couple made their home at Elkhart Lake. Besides her husband her parents, Mrs. Jeanty is survived by three brothers, Robert, Merten and Kenneth, and three sisters, Margaret, Nelva and Junanita, all of Sheboygan, and her grandmothers, Mrs. Howard Coffin of New Hampshire, Ohio, and Mrs. Carl Finger of Lake Mills. NICHOLAS JANTY Nicholas Janty Sr. Passes Away; Rites on Friday. Kiel. – Nicholas Janty, Sr., passed away this morning at the St. Nicholas hospital in Sheboygan. Born in St. Anna, town of Russell, on March 5, 1863, the son of Nicholas and Catherine Janty, he was married to Elizabeth LaCroix and settled on the LaCroix farm in town Russell. Twenty-five years ago he sold his farm to his son, Henry, and moved to Kiel to make his home. His wife passed away on July 7, 1919, and since that time he has made his home with his children. Survivors are three children, Henry of town Russell, Mrs. Walter Jensen of Rockfield, Calif., and Mrs. J.R. McInerny of St. Anna; a brother, Victor, of town Russell; a sister, Mrs. Eugene Perl, of Kiel, and four grandchildren. He was a member of the Holy Name society of St. Ann’s Catholic church. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the home of his son, Henry, in Town Russell and at 10 o’clock at St. Ann’s church, the Rev. Clement P. Kern officiating. CATHERINE JEANTY Mrs. Nicholas Jeanty Dead. Katherine, 89, wife of Nicholas Jeanty, pioneer Town Russell farmer, passed away there on the old homestead early this week and was buried in the St. Anna cemetery on Thursday. Deceased was born and married in Belgium and came to this country and county with her husband in 1862. She is survived by six children and twenty grand and great-grandchildren. Sheboygan Press, Sat. MARY JEANTY Mrs. Victor Jeanty, nee Wieseckel, 69, died at the farm home at St. Ann, four and a half miles southwest of Kiel, early this morning. She had been ill for a week, following a stroke. Mrs. Jeanty was born on January 4, 1868, in the town of Rhine. She was married to Mr. Jeanty in 1896. The couple went to live immediately at the Jeanty farm home, which they have always occupied. Survivors are the widower, one daughter, Mrs. Henry Williams of Kiel, three sons, Joseph of Kiel and Edward and Norbwert, at home, and four grandchildren. Mrs. Jeanty was a member of the Christian Mothers society of the St. Ann's church. Funeral services will be held from the family home Friday at 9:30 a.m. and at 10 o'clock from the St. Ann's church. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The body will be removed to the home Wednesday at 4 p.m. and will lie in state until the time of the funeral. ROSETTA KASPER Woman Struck By Car 2 Weeks Ago Dies Saturday. Fond du Lac – Mrs. Wern Kasper, 41, of Fond du Lac, a native of St. Anna, who was struck by an automobile while crossing a Fond du Lac street two weeks ago, passed away Saturday evening at St. Agnes hospital, Fond du Lac. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gross of St. Anna; one brother, Alton Gross, of St. Anna; one sister, Mrs. Pat Romalie, of Fond du Lac. A requiem high mass will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Fond du Lac. The Rev. Joseph Eilers will be celebrant of the mass. A second mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, St. Anna. The Rev. John Haen will be the celebrant, and burial will be made in St. Ann’s cemetery. CECELIA KEENAN Former Town of Russell Teacher Dies at Elkhart. Elkhart Lake. – Mrs. George Keenan, nee Miss Cecelia De La Hunt, former Town Russell school teacher, died at her home here at 9 p.m. Tuesday after a lengthy illness. Deceased was born in Town Russell June 24, 1872, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James De La Hunt. She was married to George Kennan at Little Falls, Minnesota, February 1, 1900, and later the couple returned to Town Russell, where they made their home for seven years. After residing at Kiel for a year they came to this place and have since resided here. Deceased is survived by her husband, four children, Mrs. Ed ...das and Mrs. Harold Brennan, Valders; George Jr. of Madison and Thomas of this village; three brothers, James De La Hunt of Little Falls, Ed of St. Paul and Walter of Wilmar, Minnesota; and four sisters, Mrs. Nora Randall and Mrs. Bridget Gannon of Little Falls, Mrs. Mary O’Neill of Minneapolis and Mrs. Kate O’Shea, also of Minneapolis. Random Lake. – (Special) – George Keenan, 72, former Sheboygan county board supervisor from Elkhart Lake, died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. J. Herriges, Sunday morning at 7:10 o’clock. Mr. Keenan was born in the town of Russell on June 1, 1868. His wife the former Cecelia De LaHunt of Little Falls, Minn., died 11 years ago. He conducted a dairy business and milk route at Elkhart Lake before retiring to live at Random Lake. He was a charter member and past president of St. Anna’s branch, Catholic Knights of Wisconsin and was a member of the Holy Name society of St. George’s Catholic church, Elkhart Lake, and St. Mary’s church here. While at Elkhart Lake he was a consultor at St. George’s church. Until his retirement in 1937, Mr. Keenan had been on the county board for six successive years. Survivors are two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Herriges, Mrs. Harold Brennan of Valders, George of Milwaukee, and Thomas of Waukesha, and a brother Thomas of Milwaukee. Wednesday morning at 8 o’clock the body will be taken from the D.G. Wilk Funeral Home to St. George’s church where funeral services will be held at 10 o’clock with a requiem mass, celebrated by the Rev. A.J. Reinl. Interment will be made in St. Anna cemetery. NICOLAUS KERCH Russell. –Funeral services for Nicholas Kerch were held at St. Anna church Friday morning, Rev. J. Schmitt officiating. The deceased was ill but a short time with flu-pneumonia. His wife and four children preceded him in death. For many years Mr. Kerch conducted a shoe store at Kiel, but for the past year he operated the farm a mile north of St. Anna. He is survived by five daughters and two sons, Mrs. Lena Tyson of Oshkosh, Mrs. Margaret Zinkgraf of Omro, Mrs. Gertrude Zarling of Plymouth, Mrs. Rose Mertens of North Dakota, Michael of Auburndale and Paul of St. Anna. ERNA KERCH Russell Miss Ernestine Kerch, youngest daughter of Nicholas Kerch, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the sanitarium to which she had been taken a week previous for treatments. Deceased was born in St. Anna August 13, 1900. She attended the St. Ann’s parochial school and later attended the Chilton high school. After graduation she was employed at the office of District Attorney H.J. Arps for several years till ill health forced her to resign her position. For the past two years she had remained at her home in the hopes of regaining her health. The community was shocked to learn of her demise as hopes had been entertained up to the last week. The remains were brought home Wednesday and burial services were conducted by Rev. J.H. Schmidt Friday. The Young Ladies’ Sodality of which the bride was a member excorted the remains to the grave. The survivors are her father, one brother, Paul, and six sisters, Mrs. Lena Hyson of Gravesville, Mrs. Robert Zarling of Omro, Mrs. Otto Zinkgraf of Plymouth, Mrs. Theodore Zentgraf of Omro, Mrs. John Mertes of Lidgerwood, N. FRANCES KLAPPERICH Mrs. Frances Klapperich, 96, of St. Anna, died Friday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where she had been a patient for six years. She was born in Johnsburg, Feb. 14, 1869, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wagner, and was married to Joseph Klapperich Feb. 15, 1898, at Johnsburg. Mrs. Klapperich was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, St. Anna, and the Christian Mothers Society. Surviving are five daughters, eight grandchildren and 27 great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Erbe- Hoffmann Funeral Home, New Holstein, and at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church with the Rev. Benedict Marx, pastor, the celebrant of the requiem Mass. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday. JOSEPH KLAPPERICH Joseph Klapperich, 88, of St. Anna, a retired Calumet County farmer, died Wednesday night at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. Both Mr. Klapperich and his wife, Frances, were taken to the hospital the past Dec. 29. She is still confined there. The couple had been living at St. Anna since 1916. Prior to that they had farmed in the Town of Marytown. His wife is the former Frances Wagner of Johnsburg. Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Mary Dickrell of Manitowoc, Mrs. Hildegarde Huberty of Fond du Lac and three Catholic nuns, Sr. Alonzo of Plymouth, Sr. Gabrielle of Chicago and Sr. Joseph Frances of Holy Family College at Silver Lake near Manitowoc; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, John of Kiel and Anton of New Holstein, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Wieseckel of Stockbridge. The requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann Catholic Church, St. Anna, by Father Stengel, the pastor. Sisters of the Holy Family College faculty will sing the Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The Mass will follow 10:30 a.m. family rites at the Erbe- Hoffmann Funeral Home in New Holstein. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday evening where the Rosary will be recited at 8 and 9, the latter prayer by men of the St. Ann Holy Name Society of which Mr. Klapperich was a member. SOPIA KLAPPERICH Mrs. Kapprich(sic) Dies Following Long Illness. Mrs. Sopia Kapprich, 80, of St. Anna, died Saturday at 5:30 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Theresa Friedel, 318 Superior avenue, with whom she had recently made her home. Mrs. Kapprich had been ill at St. Nicholas hospital several months ago but had completely recovered and was enjoying good health. An obstruction was the cause of her death, which was very sudden. The deceased was born in Germany on February 12, 1846 and came to America when she was a young girl going directly to Marytown, Calumet county. She was married to John Kapprich on June 20, 1868 at St. Mary’s church by the Rev. Father Friedel. The couple resided on a farm near Marytown. Mr. Klapprich died many years ago. About twenty-eight years ago Mrs. Kapprich retired and moved to St. Anna. She was a member of the St. Anna’s church and a faithful member and worker in the Christian Mothers society of that parish. She was a dear mother to her children who mourn her loss. Mrs. Kapprich was of jovial disposition and had many friends both in St. Anna and in Sheboygan. The survivors are six children: three daughters, Mrs. Theresa Friedel of Sheboygan, Mrs. Katherine Janty, of Stockbridge, Mrs. Emma Wieseckel, of Sherwood; three sons, Joseph of St. Anna, Anton of New Holstein and John of Kiel; eighteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. ADAM KLOTZ Funeral Rites for Late Adam Klotz Tuesday. Russell. – Funeral services were held on Tuesday for the late Adam Klotz, who died early Saturday morning. Although not in the best of health for the last year, Mr. Klotz was up and around until the last two weeks. Death resulted from kidney trouble. The deceased was born in Germany in 1851 and came to America with his parents when a young child. The family located at Marytown. In 1878 he was married to Miss Clara Ehlenbeck and they then moved to a farm near St. Anna. For the past twenty-five years they have resided in the village of St. Anna. Twelve children were born to them and eleven are still living. Mr. Klotz is survived by his widow, four daughters, Mrs. John Wisherchen, of Maiden Rock; Mrs. Katherine Lanser and Miss Alvina of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Robert Hertel, of Kiel; seven sons, John of Plum City; Al and Edward, of Random Lake; Joe of Milwaukee; Edmund of Kiel, William of Milwaukee, and Arthur at home. ARTHUR KLOTZ Arthur Klotz, 65, died suddenly early today at his home in St. Ann. A native of Calumet County, he was born Jan. 6, 1890, in the town of New Holstein, a son of the late Anton and Clara Ehlenbeck Klotz. He spent his entire life in the St. Ann area. Mr. Klotz was employed at the Hart-Carter Co. at New Holstein until a year ago, and then worked at the Manitowoc Shipyards for several months. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the American Legion post at New Holstein. He was never married. Survivors are six brothers, John, of St. Ann, Alvis of Random Lake, Edward and William, of Milwaukee, Joseph, of St. Nazianz, and Edmund, of New Holstein, and three sisters, Mrs. John Wiskerchen in Pierce County, Mrs. Claude Ostermick, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Josephine Hertel, Kiel. CATHERINE KLOTZ Mrs. Katherine Klotz, 78, widow of the late John Klotz, died Friday afternoon at her home in Elkhart Lake, following a short illness. Born Nov. 14, 1868, at St. Anna, she was married to John Klotz on June 24, 1896, at St. Anna. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Herzog. Survivors are three daughters and a son, Lorraine and Alma at home, Mrs. M.J. (Frances) Keller of Plymouth and Alfred of Chicago; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Mertens of St. Anna and Mrs. Mary Boll of California. Two brothers preceded her in death. For a number of years Mr. and Mrs. Klotz operated a hotel in Elkhart Lake. Her husband passed away Dec. 1, 1925. CLARA KLOTZ Mrs. Clara Klotz of St. Anna Called To Rest Today. Kiel. -Mrs. Clara Klotz, 82, nee Clara Ellenbeck, resident of St. Ann, passed away at 5:15 a.m. today. She was born in the town of New Holstein on Mar. 31, 1861. On Nov. 7, 1879 she was united in marriage with Adam Klotz of Town New Holstein. After their marriage the couple settled at St. Anna and have lived there since. Mr. Klotz passed away in July, 1926. The deceased is survived by 11 children, they are: John and Arthur of St. Anna, Alwin of Random Lake, Edward and William of Milwaukee, Edmund of New Holstein and Joseph of St. Nazianz, Mrs. John (Amelia) Wiskershen of Maiden Rock, Wis., Mrs. James (Katherine) Ostermick of Milwaukee and Mrs. Josephine Hertel of Kiel. Eighteen grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock at the family residence in St. Anna. After her marriage, she lived in the town of Russell until 1927 when she and her husband moved to Sheboygan. The couple had made their home here since that time. JOHN KRAUS John Kraus, 73, of R. 2, Elkhart Lake, a retired Town of Russell farmer, died Wed. at Plymouth Hospital where he was a patient for six days. Born Aug. 10, 1893, at Marytown, a son of the late Hubert and Catherine Mertens Kraus, he attended St. Mary's Catholic School at Marytown. In 1918 he entered the armed forces and spent part of his tour in France. On Sept. 23, 1919, he married Pauline Stephanie of St. Joe at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Mr. Kraus farmed his entire life, the past 30 years in the Town of Russell. He was a member of St. George Catholic Church, Elkhart Lake, and the Holy Name Society of the church. PAULINE KRAUS Mrs. John Kraus, 71, of R. 2, Elkhart Lake, died Sun. afternoon while visiting at the home of a niece in Pt. Washington, Mr. and Mrs. James Mohler, 216 E. Beutel Rd. DONALD J. KRUPP 14-Year-Old Boy Critically Injured In Farm Accident. Caught beneath a heavy drag, Donald Krupp, 14-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Krupp, Sheboygan Falls, was dragged through a field down highway 23 by a team of horses to the barn on his father's farm Wed. afternoon. He suffered severe flesh wounds on his back, fractured ribs and bruises and possible internal injuries. His condition is deemed as critical by attendants at St. Nicholas hospital. The plight of the boy was seen by a neighbor, Mrs. DeZwarte. Mrs. DeZwarte, and a daughter, Miss Caroline, and a school teacher in the town of Scott, and her son, John, tried to stop the horses but were unable to do so until they reached the Krupp barn. Mrs. DeZwarte said the boy was completely beneath the drag and had been hauled across the field onto the pavement of Hy. 23 and down the highway for about five blocks to the Krupp farm. Miss DeZwarte, who ran from her home stockingless to help the boy, took him to Sheboygan in the family automobile. A doctor there recommended that he be taken to St. Nicholas hospital immediately. Mrs. DeZwarte said the boy was unable to talk when they lifted the drag and pulled him from beneath it. She said he had been hauled through mud holes and covered with mud from head to foot. He regained consciousness at the hospital, and his condition was considered "good" until midnight when he began to fail. Sheboygan Press, Thurs. Deceased was born at St. Ann on June 22, 1926, the son of Richard and Louise Krupp. He attended St. Ann's parochial school and was a mass server at St. Ann's parish for a good many years until last Sept. when he and his parents moved to their present home in the town of Sheboygan Falls. Survivors are his parents; three brothers, John, William and Richard Jr., all of home; his grandparents, Mrs. Jacob Krupp of New Holstein and Mr. and Mrs. M.P. Schmitz of Adams MN. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. at the Dean Funeral home, Sheboygan Falls, and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic church, the Rev. Anthony Knackert officiating. Donald was graduated in 1940 from St. Ann's school and was a bright, energetic boy liked by all. There were spiritual bouquets and pieces. JACOB KRUPP Plan Last Rites For Jacob Krupp at New Holstein. New Holstein, Wis. - (Special) - Funeral services for Jacob Krupp, 78, who passed away at his farm home, five and a half miles southwest of New Holstein last Sunday at 11:15 p.m. after a four-day illness will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic church, New Holstein. The Rev. Bartelme will officiate and burial will be made in the adjoining church cemetery. The body will be in state at the family residence until the time of services. Deceased was born Aug. 4, 1860, at the present farm home, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Krupp. On June 6, 1893, he was married to Miss Amalia Christel of Steinthal at St. Gregory's church, St. Nazianz. He was affiliated with the St. Ann Catholic church and the St. Ann Holy Name society. he was a supervisor on the Calumet county board for 11 years; a director of the People's State bank of New Holstein since its organization; a member of the school board, joint district number 2, for 50 years. Survivors are his widow, 12 children, Mrs. Jake Nielsen, Mrs. Peter Hahn and Mrs. Walter Stimm of Chicago, Richard, Albert, Edmund and Miss Ernestine of St. Ann, Mrs. Charles Miller and Mrs. Gilbert Heus of Marytown, Sr. M. A solemn requiem mass was sung by the Rev. J. Bartelme, pastor of St. Ann's, as celebrant, the Rev. George Orth as deacon and the Rev. Alfred Pritzl as subdeacon. Three grandsons of the deceased, John, Donald and Richard Krupp, were mass servers. The Rev. Fr. Bartelme spoke of the exemplary life of Mr. Krupp. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery, the following acting as pallbearers: Paul Gens, Casper Roehrig, Joe Reiser, Oscar Preuss, Joe Mertens and Ben Blank. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Kroh, Herman Timm, H.H. Greve, Clem Wolf, Adolph Langenfeld, Otto Tagge, Fred Woeful and D.F. Kaiser, all of New Holstein and directors of the State bank of that city which was closed all day in respect for the deceased. Members of St. Ann's Holy Name society attended the services in a group and escorted the body to the cemetery. LEROY KRUPP Head-On Crash Kills St. Ann Youth, 20 New Holstein - A St. Anna area young man was killed early Sun. when his car and another auto collided nearly head-on a half-mile north of St. Anna on Co. Trunk A. Pronounced dead at the scene was Leroy Krupp, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Krupp, R. 2, New Holstein. A passenger in his car and the two occupants of the other car were taken to Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, but none was critically injured. According to Calumet Co. police, the accident occurred at 12:35 a.m. Sun. The position of the vehicles indicated a head-on collision. Injured were Leroy Winkel, 20, Newton, a passenger in the Krupp car, who sustained a dislocated hip and multiple lacerations. Eugene F. Weber, 25, driver of the other car, who suffered a head injury but was reported "up and around" at the hospital today, and Miss Juliana Schmitt, 18, Cleveland, a passenger in the Weber car who suffered face and leg lacerations but was to be released from the hospital later today. It was Calumet County's second traffic fatality of 1966. Leroy Krupp was born Feb. 24, 1945. He attended St. Ann's elementary school and was graduated from New Holstein High School in 1963. He has been employed at ? Bros. Manf. Co. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society of the church and the army reserves. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a sister, Mrs. ...fred (Arlene) Anhalt ....town, and a brother, ...., Brothertown. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ann Church with the Rev. Benedict Marx, pastor, the celebrant of the requiem mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Brief rites will be held at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel at 9:30. Friends may call at the funeral home until the time of services. The parish vigil will be at 8 o'clock tonight.
